I wouldn't say this is the best sushi in town but mikan has the best sushi for the price. Their octopus tempura, tuna salad and all the special rolls are 5 stars! Service is a little slow but stuffs are very nice. My girlfriend and I travel from South of the city to mikan at least twice a month. It definitely worth the drive!
Love their chicken katsu roll and yakisoba. I usually go to this place when I'm craving for yakisoba as it's close to my area. Don't like their bubble teas though as they taste too artificial to me.
Beautiful sushi that always tastes great, the atmosphere and decor are very nice if you choose to dine in as well. Fair pricing as well. I have yet to be disappointing here.
My favorite sushi place in North Winnipeg. The sushi is priced very well and is very good. I absolutely love the sushi pizza, it's around the same price as other places but is twice as big. Love their bubble tea as well. Often order off skip the dishes and they even deliver the bubble tea!
Had lunch here with a coworker and it was very good ! Sushi tasted great , awesome selection, great bubble tea flavors, great atmosphere. Waitor was friendly. I came here a couple years ago and i must say that improvements have since been made with the food and the service. Only complaint is we waited a little longer than anticipated for the bill.
Overall i was pleasantly surprised , with my last mediocre experience i tried not to expect too much but it was great. My favourite thing to order when im having sushi is a sunomono salad and theirs was one of the best. recommend to everyone .
No complaints here.... I have been eating at Mikan Sushi since September of 2012, and have never had any issues with their food. My girlfriend and I went there on father's day, and we both had a great meal. I was impressed at how the sushi chef was able to produce such beautifully-crafted food, considering how busy the establishment was at the time.
It has been politely suggested to me by the staff to call ahead of time if planning to come for AYCE Sushi.
Their Tsunami roll is simply amazing! Seeing it next to the Rainbow and Scallop rolls on one plate was not only appetizing, but visually stunning as well. Even though the menu said "Chopped Scallop", the scallop itself was sashimi-style and whole, which to me was a nice surprise.
Their Sushi Pizza is crunchy and satisfying, but slightly oily and very filling.
They have many other options besides sushi: The Deep-Fried Banana with Ice Cream is delicious, and so are the Spring Rolls and Gyozas.
The Bubble Teas/Smoothies/Milkshakes that they make are refreshing, with LOTS of different flavors to choose from. You can also pick what kind of bubbles you want, from the standard tapioca balls to mango and green apple.
The two things I would REALLY like to see added to their All You Can Eat dinner menu are Sashimi and Gyoza, even if it was to be offered in limited or restricted quantities. I would also love to see Temaki (cone) rolls added to the standard menu, along with beef/chicken/tuna Tataki.
Great food, reasonable prices! Loved it, nice relaxing place to hang out with friends and family :)
Really not that bad. I've been to many sushi places in the city and being a resident of the GC area, I'm fiercely loyal over Mikan. I've only ever had one bad experience (Scallop not being fresh) and I'd say out of the two sushi places on Mcphillips, Mikan is definitely the better of the two. Sushi Plus is cheap for a reason. Although Mikan is moderately priced, the rolls are huge and have a lot of filling. The sashimi is always fresh and the service has never been bad in my experience. The rice being slightly over sticky isn't the worst thing when it comes to sushi. The fish is always fresh and tastes like sashimi should and the rolls are generous for the price.
The service is constantly changing at Mikan and the server they have right now is great. It's like any small restaurant where the turn over rate is fast. There will be good and bad experiences at any restaurant but if you're eating sushi at places like Blufish & Kenko all the time then yes, Mikan won't be your best experience but for sushi in the North End area, Mikan is really not that bad. I always enjoy my food.
Try the Tsunami roll, easy on the hot sauce. Favorite roll.
Yummy Bubble Tea. I stopped in here this weekend because I was craving a bubble tea and there aren't many places in the North end of the city to go to. They have an extensive selection of flavors and real-fruit as well. I had the pudding flavored bubble tea in a slush format and it was very delicious and had a generous amount of bubbles in it. While there I looked at their sushi menu which looks like it has some very good options and good prices--I will be back to try it for sure.
If you are looking for bubble tea in the North-west part of the city I recommend Mikan.
Overall great place. I dine here often. Very nice interior, quick friendly service, all the rolls taste great, and are reasonably priced. overall everything is good from the nigiri, to sashimi to tempura. My favorite roll is the spicy octopus roll. Also very quick with take out and they really lay the rolls out nicely in the container for it just being take out.
One of my fav's!. The staff here is very friendly! The food is very good and prepared fast! My favourite is the Crunch Roll. Yum!
