Have had their rotisserie chicken for yrs & never been dissatisfied! Tried their Crispy Chicken & it was equally as good. Cole slaw, garlic aioli & pickle that came with the 1/2 Crispy Chicken dinner were really tasty. Manager Laf (spelling?) was extremely helpful in assisting me make an order for delivery, Actually, their desserts are pretty good for fast food (Lemon pie yumm). Had KFC last mon & never again! It is not what is used to be .... dry & bland compared to Swiss Chalet.
Best chicken noodle soup ever And the meals are plentiful and tasty. GOOD FAMILY RESTAURANT There is something for everyone Can be quite busy between 5 - 6 p.m.
Sometimes you just want good, simple salty comfort food in a casual atmosphere
and that's what you get at swiss chalet
-rotisserie chicken cooked perfectly
-super salty thick jelly like yummy gravy that only swiss chalet can make
-kinda gross, but strangely addictive dipping sauce
-good, old fashioned sides including a roll
-fresh, crisp salad and some healthier alternatives including steamed vegetables
-new non-chicken items on the menu if you come with friends who don't go to swiss chalet for the classics (but, hmmm, why would you not?)
-wonderful, attentive to every need service, including special requests and whims
-fun, casual, group friendly relaxed atmosphere
-let you stay as long as you want
-great with kids... even let them pick prizes out of a treasure chest
-easy, free parking in a convenient location
-inexpensive and generous portions
With the reviews here and on trip advisor,I was frankly very reluctant to go there. Actually, the food and service were pretty good. Well done.
Good food, good service!. We came around 4pm (before dinner rush) and were served right away, and can't say we had any complaints about the service throughout, it was perfect!
I got the chicken and rib combo, it was awesome. I normally really don't care for chicken, but I loooove the chicken from Swiss Chalet!
The only reason I'm not here every weekend is the price! It's really pricey. For two people our bill came to $80 and we didn't order any alcohol (1 appetizer, 2 main dishes). Yes, ribs are expensive but I spend less + get more food at Famous Daves. If you like places like Applebees, Famous Daves, etc. Swiss Chalet is a lot like them, same clientele, generally the same service and food quality. BBQ is better at FD but chicken is by FAR better at Swiss Chalet (again, according to my personal preferences!)
Stopped in for a late lunch. Immediately upon arrival we were seated and the restaurant was quite busy. Our server who was very pleasant took our drink orders promptly and came right back with the drinks. We each ordered quarter chicken dinners that were delicious, hot and done just right. Not sure what the bad reviews are about - we had a great visit!

+4.5
Pretty good and decently priced. Good for a supper out on a weekday evening when you just don't want to cook
Excellent Experience!. Had dinner at Swiss Chalet last Friday evening. This was our first visit to Swiss Chalet since the old sites closed several years ago.
We were greeted warmly at the entrance. After waiting only a few minutes in a long, very well managed line, we were seated comfortably. The server was smiling, friendly and efficient. Food arrived quickly and what a pleasure to dip into a bowl of very HOT!! and delicious soup. (Unlike the lukewarm I am so accustomed to receiving, even at high end restaurants).
The meal was exactly as I remembered from past experiences. HOT!,
ample and tasty. The server and then manager came to check on our satisfaction in a timely manner. The server was quick to attend when we indicated we were ready to pay our bill.
Obviously, we were COMPLETELY SATISFIED with our experience and will definitely be going back sometime time very soon!
Pretty Good. Someone gave us $60 in Swiss Chalet coupons, so we decided to check it out. Our consensus? It was pretty good.
When we came in it was very busy, but we only waited a minute for our table. We sat down and ordered an appetizer; chicken "spring rolls." These are americanized interpretation spring rolls, and while they were nothing mindblowing, they were tasty.
I had the half chicken dinner. I was impressed with the moistness and flavour of the chicken. It's very good. The fries are nice and crispy. Can't figure out the chalet sauce; it was kinda like gravy and kinda like cranberry sauce but it definitely had cinnamon and cilantro as well. It was also kinda like barbeque sauce, I suppose. it doesn't taste like it looks. You'd think it'd be way stronger. I couldn't understand it. The portions are pretty large so I took half of the chicken home.
Someone else that I was eating with ordered ribs. I tried a bite and they were ok. St. Louis style as opposed to babyback. Not as tender but meatier. Whatever.
Service was good, if not a tad slow, but it was an acceptable wait time considered the business.
I wouldn't hurry back to Swiss Chalet, but I would go there again if I am craving some rotisserie chicken.
Got to admit - it was pretty good. Taking my elderly aunt out for dinner, we needed to pick somewhere pretty conservative. I grudgingly agreed to my wife's suggestion of Swiss Chalet - definitley not the kind of place I'd ever choose to go.
But you know, it wasn't bad at all.
My smart wife went with the christmas dinner platter thing - chicken, stuffing, mashed potato, gravy.......and said it was very good.
I went with the chicken and ribs combo. The chicken was nice and moist, and the ribs were perfectly acceptable for a chicken-joint.
My aunt wasn't overly pleased with her ribs.....I think they were just a bit over-done for her, with a few hard pieces she didn't care for, but she made her baked potato disappear in no time flat. She did, however, take her rib leftovers home, so they couldn't have been that bad.
The thing I just can't figure out is that dipping sauce for the chicken......the only way I can describe the flavor is "Chirstmasy"......it's like gravy, but with spices like cinnamon, cloves, etc........very unusual. I'm not sure if I hate it, or love it.
Pretty Decent. I had only been to the "old" Swiss Chalet once many moons ago. We have been to the new one twice now, and I really have no real complaints. The service was very good each time, the food was quite tasty although I am still pretty undecided on the dipping sauce/gravy. Has an odd taste much akin to soap mixed with tea.
The portions I thought were very good for the price. The atmosphere is abit stark, sort of like a cafeteria but was otherwise clean and well lit.
Will definatly go again.
Move over Montana's!. This is the BEST place for chicken!! Have been dying to try Swiss Chalet since it made the return to Winnipeg and was not dissapointed! I had the quarter chicken dinner with white meat and as a side, the delcious poutine but instead of gravy, had the chalet sauce. WOW! Best poutine I've ever had, likely due to the fact that I am in love with that sauce! Started with dry ribs and garlic cheese loaf. I wouldn't get the dry ribs again but the loaf was great. You can add a salad and dessert for $5. The cheesecake was nice and garden salad HUGE for a starter size. Know what to expect when you go here. It's cheap, good quality, but not a 5 star dining experience that some people might expect. Excellent value though! I'll be back!
Normal like any other.. I went there with my friends on November 16, 2011 after we had our midterms. We only waited for 5mins which was good. We all had the ribs and chicken. I loved it. I also loved the dessert that I ordered, the classic fudge cake.
I'm planning to come back there, soon.
I liked it!. Went here with two of my friends on Saturday night. i was expecting it to be busy, and it was! the whole entrance was crowded. we were seated in about 15mins. it did take quite a while before we got to order are food, but once we ordered the food came quick, and was very good. i had the chicken pot pie, and greek salad. no complaints! i'll defiantly be back!
