I love their Chinese food:) Different menu and different owner, and they are the only Chinese restaurant have salted duck in Winnipeg, I can't stopped coming to eat.

Our favorite for Chinese Food.... Since moving to Canada 7 years ago we have been searching for a decent Chinese Food Restaurant. We have never enjoyed 4-Seasons which appears to be the 'go to' Chinese Restaurant in our area. A friend told us about the Winnipeg Free Press review for Yami Garden so we thought we would give it a try, we were not really expecting all that and were very wrong!
We have ordered food from this restaurant for pick up or delivery on numerous occasions and have never been left disappointed. The food it always fresh and hot and they look to use top quality ingredients. The Ginger Beef is tasty and tender, not at all chewy. We ordered the Crispy, Spicy Chicken and although it had a 1 chilli pepper rating it was very spicy, I like spicy so it wasn't an issue, a little hot for the children though. Their chicken chow mein is full of flavor and packed with chicken and veggies, this is a favorite of the children. The Chicken Balls were very doughy with little pieces of chicken, there could be more chicken in these for sure. These are my hubbys choice and I am not really a fan of this dish anyway. I love the spring rolls which you receive free if your order is above $25, they are crispy, not greasy and packed full of fresh veggies.
We have never experienced an issue with the overuse of sesame oil as others have described, the flavor combinations have always been very balanced in the dishes we have ordered.
Incredible Ginger Beef. Probably the best ginger beef I've ever had. A little less crispy. Order beef dishes on their menu - they clearly use high-quality meat because it's SO tender! And they don't overcook it either!
We had their dinner for 4 ($55) - it's enough food to feed 6-7 people. Restaurant is clean and the service is incredible - attentive, but not annoyingly so - some of the nicest people you'll meet!
No music or anything in the restaurant, so it's a little quiet, but other than that it was great!

New Ownership = amazing experience. Before, I wasn't a big fan of this place. The staff didn't speak English very well and the food was sub-par. Now --- it's a different story.
The place has been under new management for the last few months or so, and I believe that business has been booming. They are the nicest people I've ever met, and are always very friendly and helpful with recommendations.
I can honestly say that, coming from someone who isn't a big fan of Chinese -- This is the best Chinese food I've eaten in Winnipeg. Everything is fresh, and comes in HUGE portions. There's nothing laced with MSG or other imitation spices; I can't stop raving about this place.
2 main dishes that are absolutely amazing are:
1) Bassa, a light flaky fish, steamed in oil with a healthy dose of red chili's, bean sprouts, and garlic. Although the oil is heavy, you can ask for a reduction. Possibly some of the best fish I've ever eaten
and
2) The Ginger Beef - crispy and light, with light sauce. The portions are huge!
