Charlees is the best place to go eat. Great deals on all food and drinks. Great place to bring your friends and family to sing your hearts out on fridays for adults 8-1 & on sundays 4-8 for the kids. The best Karaoke Hostess ever named Jewels runs the karaoke there both nights and everyone loves her. I definately recommend this place for both eating and entertainment.
The staff is friendly, the food is Awesome and the atmosphere is great! You want a Great time then head on down to Charlees!
They have the best Karaoke in Winnipeg and the best Karaoke host Jewels! You will always have a blast on Fridays from 8 pm to 1 AM and Family Karaoke from 4pm to 8 PM.
I would like to say a big Thank You to Charlee and his staff. Saturday night we held a 25th Silver Anniversary .The Food’s amazing The roast beef melted in your mouth and the whole buffet was amazing. Charlee’s Restaurant is the Best. Thank you Bro God bless you more
Best place for food, great times, and karaoke on Friday at 8pm till 1am and Sunday family karaoke at 4pm till 8pm. But it's awesome there no matter what you do there with friends and family
Great staff, great food and a great atmosphere. I highly suggest is the deep fried pickels
Charlee catered my father's lamay (wake). The Filipino food was excellent. Especially the pinakbet, chicken adobo, and pork egg rolls. Highly recommended.
It's been awhile since I've been here but food is always delicious, staff welcoming, and the setting is casual and appealing. Charlee's catered my sisters small wedding and everyone raved about the meatballs and pasta. We're definitely calling them back to cater parties.
Great food, nice staff, I almost always have longanisa breakfast, haven't been disappointed yet
Great place to go for karaoke. Food is wonderful. Must go to see for yourself as my wife regularly goes herself and has a ball.
Good prices,, friendly server, awesome buffet, good fresh selection
The food are AMAZING! Thank you so much for having Mabuhay TV to promote your restaurant. God bless and more power.
Food is great, kuddos to the owner fr batangas philippines my hometown province too
Awesome place to eat, drink, and be merry! I've been a fan of Charlee's since 2009, and enjoy the vibe he brings to the area. I always recommend Charlee's for visitors and family alike.
I’ve had the rueben, the Philly Cheese Steak and the mushroom bacon burger. All were very good, large portion sizes, well prepared and good presentation.
Unfortunately, the last time ordered off skip the dishes for pickup, upon arrival I was told skip does not do pick up orders. My girlfriend and I have delivered for skip in the past and attempted to explain that this was not the case. The female server dealing with us was incredibly rude, short and abrasive with us. She told us skip the dishes only delivers food, which is simply not true. After 5 minutes of arguing with her, a manager finally asked us what the problem was. Our food was sitting on a counter behind the server we were arguing with. Once we explained the situation to their manager, wasting 10 minutes in the process, we got our food.
Some staff are incredibly rude there and should not be in customer service. If you do not know for a fact you are correct, don’t argue with the customer! It’s a terrible look for you and the restaurant you’re representing.
Hubby and I wanted to take out Harley out for one final ride of the season, so we looked up breakfasts places on the opposite end of the city from where we live to extend the ride! Urban spoon brought up Charlees, and after reading a few reviews we made our decision. Well the place didn’t disappoint. The service was great, the breakfast was hot and a generous portion, and the coffee was kept full. We enjoyed our visit and will definitely be going back to try a nice evening meal. Also, Love that it’s owned by a local guy who clearly has a passion for food and takes his title as chef and owner seriously. Thanks Charlees!
I've never had bad service here food is really good they have a very large menu. Good beer prices and wing deals a couple days a week seems to be a good place to go after work for a few beers and all the food I've tried so far was pretty good.
Craving deep fried pickles but there is like no places to get fried pickles on skip the dishes, until I saw the deep fried pickles from this place on Zomato, so I took a chance, the reviews seemed good so I ordered 1 orders of deep fried pickles and a reuben sandwich, everything came warm and the pickles were yummo!! Id order from here for sure again.
I live across town so I don't get to frequent this restaurant as much as i would like. Every time my family and I dine here or attend a festivity at Charlee's it's always a guarantee of a well prepared meal.
Hands down the best servers and so polite. We usually go for the sunday brunch which is a great price for the selection of food but also have tried their korean and filipino breakfasts they are delicious and perfect portion not too overfilling but not skimpy either. The kids love the home made pancakes. See you again!
This is one of my go-to restaurants! I have been stopping by every so often for 6-7 years. The lunch buffet that happens from Wed-Fri and Sunday is fantastic. I love the selection they have, it's not huge but it's varied and it's always fresh tasting. Recently they had things like deep fried ravioli, honey garlic veal, penne in a creamy tomato sauce, quesadillas, sweet and sour meatballs and this amazing macaroni and cheese. $8.99 is a great price for their buffet. All the menu prices are on the cheap side too. The chicken strips have a nice peppery breading, the perogies are good, wraps are super fresh and the breakfasts are very good. The pancakes taste home made! The service has always been friendly and smiley, if we have ever had a problem with the food like cold fries we are given fresh. I feel like they really know what they are doing here.
Ordered their Bacon Infused burger on Skip The Dishes with a poutine and have to say, knocked it out if the park. Great burger, fries were crisp and of course cheese and gravy you can't go wrong. I'll order again.
I have frequented this place for a couple of years now. Bigger than it looks from the outside. Great feel inside. Lounge and dining room and plenty of options for private functions. The menu is diverse and so far everything I have tried I have been happy with. They have a great priced buffet wed-fri for lunch that switches up frequently so it doesn't get tired. Sunday they have a simple but great brunch buffet. The daytime waitresses are also excellent. Specifically today I enjoyed the lunch buffet.
This is a neat place, and larger than I expected. Theres a bar and pool table in here too! Both waitresses were prompt and very friendly! Our water never emptied, and we never felt ignored, nor hovered over. We started with the yam fries, which came with a nice mild curry dip, probably made from honey, mayo and a bit of curry spice. The fries were some of the best I've had, and came piping hot and crispy. We also had one pound of the cajun chicken wings ($9.99 regular, $6.99 on wing nights which are wednesday and possibly saturday, with beverage purchase) which came with a beautifully crispy breading and were very tasty. For entrees, my wife had the mushroom swiss burger, and as per the Winnipeg Burger Clubs high score on it, they were absolutely correct! Awesome burgers! The fries were your average fries, similar to juniors. The coleslaw... was aweful, I love coleslaw, but this was very sweet and... odd. I had the tex mex riblets. These are actual back or side ribs, not the little spoon bones like applebees or pony corral has. They were very good, and fall of the bone tender, save a few pieces that were chewy, no big deal. I believe the sauce is sweet baby rays which is on of my favorites, so if im wrong, its very similar. All in all, great customer service, great food! Check it out.
a lot of food options
homemade soups are amazing
staff is friendly and attentive
decor is original
i had the wild mushroom soup and it was deelish!!
had to try their famous caramalized pork bun and it definitely lived up to its reviews....so good!
Breakfast and late night. Hands down one of my friends and families go to for breakfast and late night. Dishes are really satisfying. Their wings are really good in my opinion. Nice size, not small at all. Nice venue as well for parties.
The best in Elmwood!. I moved to Elmwood a few years ago and was introduced to Charlee's by my brother. From the outside, passing by you would never guess what was on the inside. It's hidden and doesn't look like much from the outside, but this hole in the wall place is the best little hidden gem there is! The place is renovated (I didn't see it before) and very up to date and clean. I always sit in the lounge. It's comfortable. The breakfasts are fantastic! I always go for the eggs benedict, it's very nice! For dinner I recently tried the reuben (but substituted their horseradish spread for the traditional 1000 island) and it is by far the best reuben I've ever had! That is now my go-to meal. On my most recent trip a friend and I shared the appetizer platter. For $12 we got deep fried pickles, spring rolls and deep fried mac and cheese balls- my FAVORITE. By the time our meals came we were full from the appys! Did I mention most things are homemade? Including all of our appys. Fantastic. I would like to see homemade fries though. I also always need to have a caesar. Their prices are good and the food is amazing and consistent every time! Service is prompt and although the servers usually seem very shy and quiet, they are polite and efficient. Friday nights there is karaoke, it's a riot. Once you know about this place, you will be hooked!!!!
I really enjoyed there breakfast. I like the way they season the potatoes and the quality of there bacon is good. Fresh bread for toast and how can you screw up an egg! Like like like BUT at 9 am when they open I'm already working.....
7 is the time you can catch the guys who want a good breakfast before the start of the day.
Great breakfast and friendly service ! I'm not sure that the "famous hashbrowns" were as good as I expected , but they were ok.
Lunch Review. My youngest daughter, wife and I stopped in at Charlee's after seeing the other reviews . We were seated and served our drinks immediately by an extremely friendly server. My daughter had the kids menu chicken fingers and fries. The fingers were very tasty and juicy, cooked proper and real chicken! fries are skinny and crisp. Score 1 for Charlee's.
My wife had the Mushroom burger and Poutine, Came out on a nice big fresh bun nicely crusted and fresh tasting visually appealing and she said tasted great! The poutine was pretty tasty too! Gravy had a slight peppercorn taste to it and they are not scared of using cheese. , point 2 for Charlee's!
I ordered up the open face hot roast sandwich and was happy to see it was real roast beef and not that paper thin weird tasting stuff some places use. It was smothered nicely in gravy and stacked up on garlic toast. Tasted as good as it sounds.Score 3!! We were all very happy with everything and had no issues with service or speed at all. First time in a long time everyone cleared their plates!!
We will ,without a doubt, be back for more! The only downside was after seeing everyone post how cheap it was, I was a lil taking back by the 43$ bill with just our orders and 3 iced tea's. It's not out of the realm but I was expecting more around the 33-38$ mark.. Plus tip for the meal was 50$.
Went here with a friend who is a regular, it's an odd place, huge dining area. If you're craving a good Filipino breakfast, go here. Get the tocino AND longanisa.
Great!. Been here three times so far and it's been great everytime. Ive had the mushroom swiss burger, bacon peppercorn burger and the chicken fried chicken. All fantastic. I've had soup (potato bacon and chicken mushroom rice) on two of the visits, some of the best soup i've had. I plan on trying everything on the menu eventually. Great food, great prices, go to Charlee's!
I highly recommend the chicken pot pie soup, best soup I have ever ate!!!
Another wicked item is the taseeno(sp)burger, wicked burger! I've only scrapped the surface on some items. Awesome food, great service!
One Of The 2 Fat Guys
+4.5
Great neighbourhood joint. Loved the Bigg Breakfast, but the star was the chicken fingers. I could eat 30 of them. Really super good.
Have been here twice now to try the $8.99 Lunch Buffet. They have a nice simple green salad mix to start the buffet which is good as there isn't a lot of veggie options as you continue. Lots of basic pasta, rice & potatoes in different variations on different days. I think they have the ribs everyday and this past visit I tried the fried chicken which was super ! Last time I went they had their Sheppard's Pie which I really enjoyed and would definitely consider ordering on it's own off the menu !! It's really busy at lunch and the line up to pay to get out can be exceptionally long so the tables tend to get neglected for a while....but the service has always been friendly and warm.
The food is always good, staff very friendly. Some nights it can be slow in the lounge because the seem to have one person working and they also do some kitchen work. Try the wings, they are awesome, they use there own recipes for sauces and are so creative and yummy!!
It's true. Went here for the first time today. Gotta say it was really good. The gravy had actual flavor, that was exciting. We both enjoyed our food. The only thing I didn't like was the brownie. But the actual meal part was really good so were the chicken wing appetizer. No breading so that was a little different but it worked.
The tables need some TLC. I usually get breakfast here. The cheese is normally processed cheese unfortunately but it still tastes delicious excellent hashbrowns
Elmwood gem.. I was a bit apprehensive that my friend told us to go to a sketchy looking Elmwood diner today for dinner.
I'm glad we went.
Now it goes without saying - it's not a romantic place. It's a dive. A diner. There are weirdos lurking about (one asked us if we wanted to buy a lighter for $1.50 lolwut). The inside is dark... and not in the best way possible. It smells like chemical cleaners but at least you know they clean the restaurant.
The menu is pretty good! Lots of stuff. They offer all-day breakfast and a modest amount of dinner/lunch stuff.
My friends got the Cajun Chicken sandwich and apparently it was good. Their poutine was damn good. I didn't have the poutine (regretfully so) because every time I go to a diner, their poutines usually don't taste like the ones in Quebec. The gravy on their poutine was perfect but I wish they used 'curds. Oh well, what can you do, right?
I ordered the mushroom swiss burger. SO GOOD. I had a hard time deciding what to order because everything on the menu was really good tasting. I got soup on the side, creamy bacon vegetable chowder to be exact - EXCELLENT. They used generous amounts of bacon and cream. So rich, not good if you're on a diet. :p
Overall, good price for huge portions. It's about under $10 for a meal.
Our server was also very nice. He spoke to us a lot, was very friendly and made our visit very enjoyable. If most waiters in Winnipeg were like him, I'd be very happy.
Thumbs up to Charlee's. Will go again if I'm in the area.
Great!. One time I went there at 11 am or so and they informed us they were not serving breakfast due to a catering gig so we had to order lunch. No biggie. After we ordered our lunch, the chef sent out free spring rolls to appease us. It worked! We went another time and the new waitress screwed up or order 4 times. Finally we got the right breakies and the chef sent over some free pancakes to make up for it. They don't do this all the time but it sure made us happy!
LOVE the photography on the walls! It's all arty and surprisingly, photos taken from around Elmwood.
Charlee's- The best all around!. Charlee's is a place i can call home. Everyone is really friendly and kind. Especially my buddy Charles, I have known him for years and he works hard to make sure everyone is welcome and food is so tasty and best of all AFFORDABLE to boot! My favorites are the Carmelized pork bun (tocino) it combines filipino marinated meat on a bun with an over easy egg AND Swiss mushroom Melt.
ALL THE SUCCESS TO YOU CHARLES!
Suprisingly good!. I really enjoy small independent restaurants but since this was so out of the way and no one had heard of it.. really, no one! I was a little leery. But I had a great time here!
Now I didn't take advantage of the buffet, so I'm in no place to review what is apparently a huge seller of theirs but their menu was really neat and CHEAP!!
I had the schnitzel sandwich and it was excellent. It cost less than $10 and it came with soup! Great deal. My dining partner also really enjoyed his meal and we both said we'd come back!
If what you're looking for is a quiet little place with good food for low prices, come to Charlee's! If you have anything close to the experience I had, you'll love it!
My friends and I came here based on the great reviews...and they were all true! I loved the atmosphere, we had a great server and the food was amazing! I didn't find anything on the menu more expensive than $10.95! We will be coming back soon and bringing more friends!
I love it here. Good portions, good eats and awesome atmosphere. Everything on the menu is to die for!!!
Great place!. We can usually be found at this place on Sunday mornings/afternoon's. Good omelettes and poutines, chicken fingers and burgers are awesome too. Make sure you get a ceaser because they make them really good!
Hidden Gem!. If you take the time to find Charlee's, you will definitely take the time to return!
I live in the area and have been to this restaurant several times. There is a great selection of sandwiches, pastas and rice dishes, and dinner options.
Sandwiches / burgers / etc: include a side of either fries, caesar/house salad OR coleslaw. Very good deal with a price point of under $10.
Pastas include a starter of either soup or salad; they make their dressings and soups from scratch and you can taste it!
Dinner options include dishes like Tender Mesquite BBQ riblets or their Porkchops with homemade applesauce- all include a side of seasonal veggies and a starter soup or salad. (MAX $10.99 +tax)
Charlee is a younger guy who is personable and a great chef! The food is so cheap and QUALITY, nothing near a greasy diner.
My favorite dish is the Thai Green Curry, served with panko breaded chicken or shrimp. It's comfort food at its finest!
Great Food!. Great portions, great food and great prices - had the penne pasta with chorizo sausage...lots of cheese!! and it came with a good sized salad and garlic toast -- all for $10.
Great food! I had the Sheppards Pie which came with Sqash soup. Hot and fresh and under $10.
Great restaurant, excellent food, and even better prices. The sweet caramelized pork sandwich is tremendous. Also love the Mac and cheese. The burgers are delicious and so filling. The new lounge is also a great place to hang out at. Play some free pool, try your hand in darts, and there's also a foosball table. Oh yeah, the multiple flat screens ensure that you never miss a second of the game, no matter where you're at in the lounge. Last but not least, the service is friendly and attentive. This place is highly recommended.
