We really enjoy eating at the Spicy Noodle House, and always get the #1, spicy peanut noodle soup, sometimes with spring rolls and sometimes without. A great place for a family visit, and we will keep going back.
If I were on death row, my last meal would be spicy peanut noodle soup and steamed meat dumplings. Hands down, no contest. Enough said. Eat here.
Went for lunch with a friend. Service was prompt and friendly. We shared a spicy peanut soup, sesame chicken, plain chop suey. Everything was tasty! Portions were generous. I would order the same again. I would consider this an average experience - nothing terribly bad or good about it!
just had their deluxe wonton soup... perfect on a cold winters day. I want to go back for another. price is good and food is extra tasty. I highly recommend.
The service is great and wow does the food ever come out fast!! Very casual basement restaurant but food is fast and inexpensive. I can't comment on anything but the soups, but I regularly go for tofu and vegetable noodle soup with spicy peanut vegetarian broth.. which is amazing and is so big I almost never finish it! Love how the tofu sops up broth flavour and how the veg all still have a little bite to them. Important to know: they are best known for their spicy peanut broth and you can ask for it with any of the soups offered, and even ask for a vegetarian broth (which you can also make spicy peanut it you want) which is a little lighter and less oily than their meat broth. There are always a ton of noodles, a ton of veggies, and a ton of flavour! It's really addictive stuff. Boyfriend always gets the ground pork noodle soup with spicy peanut meat broth, and often asks for no noodles cuz he'd rather just a ton of tasty meat in a tasty broth. lol You'll find they're accommodating when it comes to custom requests. Also good to know that they do have chili sauce and chili oil but it's not on the table and you have to ask for it. The only real downside is I've had the hot and sour soup often, and it's really inconsistent. Sometimes it's watery, sometimes it's thick, sometimes it's perfectly seasoned, sometimes it's bland. I'm hoping that I'll be able to figure out which of their chefs makes the one I like best and only order it when they're cooking! Lol But for now, I'll keep getting my regular.
Huge fan of this place, my go-to is the spicy peanut noodle soup and I order a side of the deep fried pork chop to go with it. I am an Asian soup fanatic, and this is one of my favorite meals to have on a chilly day. Every time we get freezing rain in Winnipeg, the only place I want to be is the Spicy Noodle House! Thanks, guys, for the consistently delicious peanut soup :)
Never had a problem here. Love coming here with my boyfriend and friends for affordable and yummy food (plus very inexpensive beer).
I love the haa gow dumplings, my favourite thing on the menu. Everything I've tried has been very tasty, the portions are very fair and reasonably priced. I have ordered 5 dishes for myself here plus drinks in a night and paid less than $40.
My friends and I love the service here. Since we come here often the servers are familiar with what we usually order and get it out to us very quickly.
They are always very friendly and give us a great experience.
Went there with a buddy on easter sunday and had the hot and sour soup ! Was tasty and came out really hot which is awesome . They have great business hours and deliver city wide. I will definitely be going back or getting delivery again
Try #34 Chicken with spicy peanut sauce (if you like some heat!). Our family of four orders at least 3 of these every time!
There are some gems on this menu. Some of the other commenters don't like specific things (and they are entitled to their opinion), but going out on a limb will be rewarded!
Good soup. I love the soup here-I'm always craving it when I need something warm. The food is great, although I find everytime its delivered it frequently takes over an hour to arrive, and I live quite close. Nice staff though
Spicy Peanut Noodle Soup. If I had to pick one favorite dish anywhere, it would probably be this soup.
Always a good place. Whenever I am sick I get the spicy peanut soup wight the fried pork chops, cures any cold. I love the service and take out is so fast. Highly recommend this place.
Spicy Peanut Sauce. The spicy peanut sauce is to die for, so yum!
Ordered
-Spicy Peanut Noodle Soup
An Osborne classic. My top choice for Chinese in the city. The spicy peanut noodle soup is a solid standby.
You can easily walk by as it's located in the basement and doesn't have a ton of signage- do yourself a favor and don't miss it.
Always a go-to for us!. I love this restaurant. I go at least once a month with co-workers, and we always order the same thing:
Spicy Peanut Soup
Chicken Mooshi
Honey Spicy Chicken
Dry Schezwan Beef
183 - some mixed meat and veggies, don't remember the name of it
I would highly reccomend any of these dishes to people trying it our for the first time, as we always enjoy it - beware though, it is SPICY!!!
I love it, peanut noodle soup is the best
Flavorful broth. I stopped in and ordered the spicy peanut noodle soup, which I thought was well priced. It was a medium sized bowl, full of noodles and a thick, red broth and garnished with peanuts. The broth was a little too thick and oily for me, but it was very flavorful, with a hint of heat. The service was good and the food came out quickly.
Pretty okay. I found their consomme soup or whatever I had was very bland. Their shrimp and pork dumplings were AMAZING same with their lotus rice. Shrimp dumplings were okay. friendly staff.
Great food, some rare dishes. I've introduced a number of people to their spicy pork/peanut noodle soup, and most have kept returning to the restaurant for that item - have yet to find anything in Wpg that compares. The prices have increased 1-2$ per item since then but I keep returning due to the food quality.
Small portions but delicious! Highly recommend the honey spicy chicken, dry Szechuan beef and the pork mooshi!
I have eaten here a few times in the last few years because I need to be in the mood to polish off some heavy Chinese food but I have never been disappointed in how fresh spicy noodle house dishes are and it is great Chinese food compared to those tin foil soggy dishes you order to your house.
Friendly staff. Good food but overpriced.. portions were small.
I really liked it here!! Hubby and I tried it out for the first time tonight and both agreed we would go again. The spicy honey chicken was sooooo good. Ordered 3 dishes and left with leftovers!!!
Our meal was fresh and delicious!! We've already decided we're going back real soon. I thoroughly enjoyed my noodle soup, always nice when it's freezing cold outside. So good!!!
Definitely a Winnipeg favourite. The atmosphere is quaint and the hickory beef is fantastic. Honey spicy chicken is great too. Many northern Chinese dishes that have a bit of kick.
In the area?. Great place to check out if you are in the area. I was there on a weekday, and there were several business lunches going on at the same time. The decor isn't modern, but it suits the food and is close to downtown and the stores in the area. The food was good too and the price was reasonable.
Honey Spicy Chicken!. OH YUM!!! It's just so good. I recommend ordering two, one for right away and the other for leftovers (with rice of course).
Best hot and sour soup. One of my favourite places to go out with friends, the staff is always friendly and everyone seems pretty happy with what they order. Nothing to write home over for most, but still enjoyable. The hot and sour soup however is a staple I order here every time and is the best I've had anywhere, hearty and just the right balance of hot and sour flavors (unlike other places where it's overly oily or suffered from being oddly and disgustingly sweet such as Asia city) The steamed pork buns are also a nice addition to the meal and great for dipping in your hot and sour soup! I've also tried the mooshi and found it to be average but tasty none the less.
Spicy Peanut Soup&Beef Stew. I usually come here with my bf, we always get the spicy peanut soup to start with. I really do enjoy the flavours, but I do get disappointed with the overcooked noodles all the time. It's a nice place to just sit and eat without spending a ton of money, especially when you are craving soup!
Great Neighborhood Place. What a great place for our Osborne Village neighborhood. I have been there many times, and love the mooshi as well as the delicious spicy peanut soup. Attentive and kind service.
Best Chinese food in Osborne/Corydon Village, hands down. No one even comes close.
I just keep coming back!. I've tried all the other supposed best Chinese places in town. This place still holds the candle in my opinion. The Spicy House Beef, Garlic Shrimp, soups, and everything really are top notch. Always hot, and delicious. The owners are super friendly. Literally the only issue is parking the car cause its on Osborne , but it's totally worth it. Amazing Chinese I get mad cravings for regularly.
Great soups, very accomodating owners. The thing I like about the Spicy Noodle House, aside from their excellent soups, is just how pleasant the owners are.
Many small asian places I've been to, while they may have very good food, place less emphasis on.....how to describe it.......being friendly?
The couple who own this place are warm and inviting, and will make you smile every time.
That, AND the food is awesome! Just be careful.....when they say something is spicy....it's SPICY!!
What?!. Wow I'm so surprised to read all the negative reviews. I have never been disappointed with Spicy Noodle House. Their spicy noodle peanut soup is what I crave whenever I feel under the weather- I think it's delicious. Their mooshi is great, and the tofu chowmein is good too. I think the prices are very reasonable and the delivery service is convenient and friendly.
Spicy Peanut Love. Give me a bowl of #1, Spicy Peanut Noodle Soup, any day. And a plate of Honey Spicy Chicken is a delicious alternative. Good Mooshi, too.
YUMYUM. I really love Spicy Noodle house. The entrees that i tried were DELICIOUS and they were made very very fast. I highly suggest The Spicy szechuan beef and the eggplant in a black bean sauce with their fresh spring rolls. If you like eggplant.. you will NOT be dissapointed.
#3 spicy is one of the best soups around. add their fresh, scalding hot green onion cakes and i'm a happy girl.
Spicy Noodles Only. I go here at least twice a week for the Tofu Vegetable Noodle Soup which I ask for with Spicy Peanut Sauce. This soup is absolutely AMAZING with lots of vegetables, yummy noodles, and flavorful tofu all swimming in a well seasoned spicy peanut broth (available chicken or water base). I love this soup so much, however, every time I have tried to order something else I have been incredibly disappointed. All the other food arrives in the same cornstarch laden, tasteless sauce.
I highly recommend any of the spicy noodle soups but that's it.
Good food nothing exceptional they could use new decor
Good spicy noodle soup and Shang Hai spicey noodles. Reasonably priced would reccomend.
Spicy Noodle House is a place I like to duck into when I’m in a hurry for a quick, satisfying and economical meal. I generally find the service to be efficient, although I did have to ask twice to get chopsticks. Also, even when it is busy I’ve found the service to be quite quick as well. Perhaps not a top end Chinese restaurant, but still good value for money.
