Quite delicious! I really like this place. The meat, toppings and pitas always seem really fresh. The decor is basic but comfortable.
The staff's English is pretty limited, so ordering on Skip the Dishes is a good way to make sure you get exactly what you want.
Love the chicken shawarma platter!! Have tried every place in the city this is my fave. The rice is delicious, and the chicken always done perfect.
First time here. Ordered the chicken shawarma extra spicy for takeout. Delicious and the right amount of spice. Would definitely return and try the other menu items.
Been here dozens of times now, as a student this place is cheap, convenient and delicious. Seriously underrated place compared to other shawarma spots in the city. Food is always fresh, the portion sizes are generous and the staff are very friendly. Come check this place out if you haven't already, you won't be disappointed!
One of the pleasures of living in the Spence neighbourhood is that there are so many dining choices close by. As the neighbourhood is so diverse, there are also a wide variety of cuisines to choose from. I’m a big fan of shawarma, and there are two places within a few blocks of each other. Shawarma Time at the corner of Ellice and Sherbrook, and Sultan’s Shawarma, just a few blocks east towards the University of Winnipeg.
Love the platter here! Can't stop eating it!
Deadly donair. My new go to spot downtown for shawarma. Cheap prices, friendly staff and AMAZING food! Their donairs are killer. Very tasty homemade mix of beef & lamb, with great spice and flavor. The fattoush salad rounds out a great tasting, healthy and filling meal for around 10 bucks. I will be back...repeatedly.
I can't wait to try the golden boy sandwich next time out.
One of the best places to eat in Winnipeg. I have eaten from this restaurant several times, and it always exceed my expectations. The prices are very reasonable, The food is always very tasty and fresh. Customer service is very friendly and promt. My favourites are Calazone, shawarmas and pizzas. The bread is very tasty. Believe me, you will never regret.
Big portions, too much lemon in the sauce, which makes it bitter!
Unsure. I've been here several times and I'm still not sure about it. Sometimes, I'm just not a fan of the textures here.
Prices are good, portions are hefty, and you can taste how fresh everything is. I particularly like the chick pea soup.
I'll continue to go back but I'll stay away from the pitas..
Excellent lunch for a good price. The food is very tasty, fresh and healthily prepared. They don't skimp on spices and flavours.
Excellent. This is a humble eatery. All food is made from scratch and it shows in the pride of presentation.
We shared the Falafel plate and a large fatushe salad. The regular size salad would be plenty for 2.
Fresh made and nicely served good value and large portions add up to a return visit in the near future to sample some other items.
Awesome Shawarmas!. I came here yesterday on a whim, looked good from the outside. And it was pretty awesome. my chicken shawarma was very flavorful and fresh. I am gonna go here again for sure
Best falafel. Got a groupon for here that was pretty much buy-one-get-one-free on the falafel plate or falafel combo. We both got two plates and it was incredible. These were the best falafels I've ever had, and I love falafel. They were crispy on the outside but light and fluffy on the inside. The plates also came with rice, tabouleh, hummus, garlic and cut up pitas. It was a ton of food and it was delicious. There was homemade hot sauce that you could choose to put on but it wasn't super spicy. I can't wait to come back here again and try their shawarma!
Best Shawarma in Town. As an Israeli, I love and "understand" Shawarma. After trying all other 4 Shawarma places in Winnipeg, this is bay far the best Shawarma & Falafel place. Will be visiting again...
Good food, big portions. I am by no means a shawarma expert. I have heard that the offerings in Winnipeg don't compare to other cities with larger middle eastern populations. However, I really enjoyed what I had. I tried the Golden Boy, which was a pita sandwich with chicken, beef and cheese as the main filling. It was filled with lots of meat and stuffed with vegetable matter including pickles as well as a very mild creamy sauce that was a bit like tzatziki. I am guessing the cheese was melted into this sauce because it was all very creamy and delicious. I wasn't sure now large the sandwich would be, so I ordered small fries on the side.
The sandwich was a very good size, messy and delicious. There was homemade hotsauce on the side for those wishing to spice up their sandwich (which was definitely mildly spiced). The pita was nice and crispy, and the fries were a very good size portion and delicious.
The staff were friendly and courteous. All in all, I like it, and will return. This should be a popular choice with the UW student/staff crowd. I recommend it.
Great food. I can't speak to the restaurant itself as I just got takeout from them, but that was definitely one of the better Middle Eastern meals I've had in Winnipeg that I can remember. The falafels were delicious (light and crispy, and filled with flavour), and the donair was a brilliant cut of meat that was spiced wonderfully. Each meal came with rice (perfectly cooked and seasoned), a very decent tabbouleh, hummus, and pitas. The hummus could have used a little more garlic for my tastes, but otherwise I was wholly impressed with the quality of food. I'll definitely be stopping by for an in-house meal soon!
Finally a real Falafel Place. .
Having lived in Israel I recognize great falafel. Finally, after a long barren period, we again have a go-to pace for falafel in Winnipeg. Just had lunch there today, and the falafel was top notch. (Asked for crispy.) Fresh made. Subtle flavors. Highly recommended. The owners were very courteous and prompt. Premises pleasant and clean. Eat there! Wife agrees. (That is rare.)
Great Family Owned Restaurant. The food quality was really great; moist and well spiced. The owner came out to talk with us and that was nice. It is clean. Some may find it sparse but I liked that.
This is one of those places that are difficult to find but really worth going. Not fancy but great food.
Good food, friendly service. Shawarma restaurants seem to be popping up all over Winnipeg these days. This restaurant is in the old Black Sheep diner location. It's a nice bright setting and clean. I had the falafel, my boyfriend had the chicken shawarma and we had sides of the saffron rice and fatouche. The fatouche was light and well seasoned, the rice had lovely flavour, some raisins (nice Moroccan touch) and the hand cut fries were tasty and fresh. We found the service to be great and the owners were friendly. We'll be back.
I had their beef shawarma and their golden boy (beef and chicken) on two different occasions. Both times I was happy and full at the end. Next time I'm there I'm going to try the Donair.
