Great food. I have never order anything and not liked it. The whole menu is awesome. Great service as well.
Love the green curry coconut soup and pad thai. Ordered twice in 1 week. Looking forward to trying other items on the menu. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
First off I would like to say how much I love this restaurant. My favourite hands down is the crab blossoms. They are cooked perfectly;not too oily and come with a tasty peanut dipping sauce! I highly recommend this to anyone that’s around the transcona area! I’ve also had the green veggie curry and that is delicious as well!
This place is so good and if you are near by you should miss out in this one! It's so good my favorite dish is the crispy chow mein it's actually the best and the pad Thai with apply salad! Service is ok but food out weights anything! Check it out!
A group of us had take out from here on Friday night and the food was excellent. I didn't do the ordering so I'm not sure what we had but every dish was delicious and very fresh tasting. There was a soup, some seafood, some noodles, lots of vegetables and rice, etc. I would definitely recommend trying this place out.
Great service and meal was served right on time. Flavourful and rich, extremely well priced too! I recommend the stir fry veg and tidy with peanut sauce, and the massaman curry with tofu! Will come back again and again.
We enjoyed our dinner here last night. Our dine-in order included Pad Thai, Matsaman Curry, and the Red Basa Fillet in Red Curry. They were all quite nice. Upon sitting down, the fellow working provided us with complimentary iced tea and mango drinks - a nice addition to our spicy meal. The prices here are extremely reasonable. We do agree, however, with other reviews that the food is rather oily. Service was fairly prompt and very polite.
Ordered take out and was ready on time and service was great. Food was AAA+ Chicken Pad Thai, shrimp spring rolls, shrimp spring rolls and our fried rice dish all done to perfection next special family occasion we will be back as we have yet to have any complaints unlike some other restaurants in the area that started off great and then slacked on the quality Thaitations maintained their higher standards!
Have tried Thai food around the entire city and this has to be our favorite followed closely by Thidas and Magic. The service may not be the fastest as the restaurant is run by a small Thai family but the food is always fresh, consistent (very important) and delicious. We order from here weekly and by now they know us by name and make the little changes that we like without us having to ask. Pad Thai, Mee Krob, Matsuman, Vermicelli noodle stir fry, and the creamy peanut stir fry are all excellent choices as well as the green curry dish, apple salad, spring rolls, and crab rangoon for appetizers. We love it here!
We took our two young children to this restaurant and felt very welcome. The ingredients seemed very fresh - we had salad rolls, pad thai and a vegetable stir fry in peanut sauce. The service was quick and the atmosphere was relaxing.
Thaitations gives a great rendition of traditional Thai cuisine at extremely reasonable prices. Their use of authentic cooking techniques and ingredients make this one of the standout Thai spots in town. While the interior decor could use some work, Thaitations is an easy recommendation for anyone looking for a quick and cheap bite of Thai, especially if they are in the Transcona area.

We went last night and really enjoyed it. My husband found the food to not be as hot & spicy as some other places. It was easy to enjoy the whole way thru! I had the PHO and he had the cashew chicken. We are happy to see it had opened up again since it's closer for us than travelling across town to get some Thai - we will go again
Pretty good. I've been here abot 3 times and find it to be generally good. Fresh vegetables, tasty sauces. Perhaps a little inconcistent (I ordered some sort of dish with onions and peanut sauce and LOVED it--ordered it a second time and it wasn't nearly as good), but I have found everything tasty. My husband, who is a very critical and knowledgeable foody, thought it was good, although certainly not the most amazing Thai food ever. Given that it's the only restaurant like this in the area for a good 1/2 hour drive, I'd say go!
Good food. Our group had 6 items that were selected by someone else so I am not sure what they were but all were very good. The spring rolls and Mango Salad were two I did recognize and liked very much. The place was very clean and our service was good.
Been there about 10 times and every time has been decent. The prices and sizes if food are good value, esp for a Thai restaurant outside of core Winnipeg. I usually have the crab ragoon and fried calamari to start and then go for the mee krob. Pretty standard and consistent each time. I have been for the lunch buffer a couple times, nothing great, very limited but its cheap. One complainant is the service, I do find it could use some work. The owner is quite rude and not very friendly towards his patrons.
It is Authentic. I have travelled to SouthEast Asia and I have no idea what reviewers are saying when they comment the food is not authentic? Also, I grew up eating this Thai/Laos cuisine. First off, everything is made authentically by using Thai ingredients and infusing a little Laos twist within the food (I know this becasue I asked about some of the ingredients and got to know the staff and because the Asian community know that 98% "thai" restaurants that open up are, infact owned by Laos people). When I have travelled to Thailand, I was not as impressed by the "authenticity" Thai food that was there. Infact, I found the dishes were overly sweet and sour and spicy, which IS what Thai cuisine is for the most part. Anyway, I digress ... I would have to say that what puts any food critic, blogger and the fellow diner off from putting in a positive review is the efficiency of staff - let us admit that a courteous and diligent hostess/waitress affects our mood. The downfall about Thaitations is that in the crucial year or two of its opening the waitress was inefficient and lacked the people skills to interact with the diners and keeping the customer satisfied, knowledgeable on the cuisine and creating a positive rapport. The restaurant is very small and their are only 3 cooks in the back that have limited space to cater to max. capacity of 100 people? plus the large orders that come in via telephone. Many times I have ordered for pick up their are always sheets and sheets with large volume orders ahead of mine. This is what a I thought before but I have been back there recently and I have found the new waitress fast and efficient, pleasant and definitely knowledgeable on the food - most likely becasue she is Thai. You still have that dreading wait for the food but the courteous manner of the host/waitress and cooks definitely lessens my impatience if food orders are backed up. So when the food comes I am still in a good spirits and the food is delicious and has been consistent. My fav dishes are; The crab ragoon, Pad siew, pad thai, any of the curry dishes, softshell crab curry and the rice roll wraps! Try it out!
Buffet. I have been for the lunch buffet 3 or 4 times always very delicious. Only 3 or 4 dishes to chose from though. Most the buffet dishes had WAY to much onion in it.
The four of us loved it!! Everything was sooo delicious!! Had #9 #13 #23#28 and #48. I wanted it with more spicy so you could ask them to add more hotness
Consistently tasty. I admit I am surprised by the number of negative reviews here-I normally don't comment but when I went online looking for a menu I began to read the reviews and had to post my family's experiences. We have ordered from Thaitations several times in the last few months, for ourselves and when we have had company over. On all occasions everyone has been really pleased with the food. When you read the description on the menu that is just what you get (and you get it piping hot and freshly made too). For example my husband loves the #53-we have ordered it mild spice when our 2 year old son will be eating it and both love it, we have also ordered it medium and hot and both times the dish was consistent. I love curry dishes and have tried 2 or 3 on the menu--each time the same delicious dish came. We have also tried the pork spring rolls as well as the lettuce wraps and they were also great. I have only been to one other Thai restaurant in Wpg (Sawatee Thai on Provencher) but I have to say Thaitations was much better. If I had one complaint it would be when you order pick up, once or twice they have made me wait longer than I expected. But when I finally received our meal it made up for the wait.
Not bad for the money. I've been there once with the wife and my daughter so we tried 3 different dishes and I can say while you get a fair amount of food for the money, I don't see it being very authentic thai cuisine. Nothing was bad but I expected something closer to real Thai food and this was not. The other negatives was the parking and hours of operation.
The perfect remedy for the lunchtime blahs! Had the salad rolls with prawns - plump and flavourful; the hot and sour soup - fresh, exotic and satisfying; and the pad ginger stir fry - perfectly cooked and seasoned. The decor is modest, but the food is exceptional. A much needed treat in Transcona!
Awesome buffet!. As promised in an earlier review, I visit this restaurant at least once a week for their lunch buffet. Even though the buffet selection doesn't vary greatly day-to-day, it's obvious they put a lot of care into selecting and cooking with fresh, seasonal ingredients judging by the delicious, sometimes complex flavours and slight variations I notice in the dishes each time I go. The curries are out of this world, with just the right amount of heat to appeal to those who love spice, but not severely offend those who are more sensitive to it. The owner and staff are courteous, friendly and professional, treating you well and expediently without being in your face. When there are so many awful places to eat in this city, it's refreshing to know there are still some who put the effort into running a restaurant properly. I personally wish Thaitations great success!

Really Good. This is a really good, reasonably priced restaurant. That previous vicious review just sounds like a drunken rant by a kid who wants to sound important. The service was great, the food was world-class (and I've been there), and the price was right. If we want good, clean restaurants to keep serving this community we have to support them. This one gets A+ from me.
This restaurant is amazing! I have been with friends and family numerous times and we always have good things to say. My personal favorites are the Pad Nar (hope I spelled that right!) and the red curry dish. I HIGHLY recommend eating here! They are also very hospitable.
THAI ME UP AT THAITATIONS!!!!. First off, I love Thai food and have been enjoying Thai food for many years now. I was very hesitant to try Thaitations from some of the negative reviews that I have read from here by some but also read some very positive reviews by many others. At the end of the day, what I read were from those who have gone, so I decided to go with a couple of friends to try Thaitations and write up my own review of my experience.
I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!! We had ordered the Thai Spring Rolls, Lettuce Wrap, Deboned Wings, Crab Ragoon for appetizers. The spices, crunchiness, the smell, texture and taste was to die for!!!! We were all shocked of how awesome all of the appetizers tasted. Bite after bite we were in ecstasy from just the appetizers alone, we couldn't wait for our actual food to come out.
For our main dishes we all had ordered was Tom Kah Kai soup, red & green curry, mee krob and the Pad Thai and some rice. Let me tell you.......WE LOVED IT ALL! We ate all of the dishes not leaving anything left on the plate. I don't think words can describe what i tasted on my tongue from these dishes!!! It's not like any other Thai restaurant in the city (HONEST), every other Thai restaurant seems to have toned down their Thai dishes to be more "Canadianized" but Thaitations kept it original and authentic/ethnic which is exactly what I love (you know what im talking about, if you love different cultural foods from around the world). It's like you just visited Thailand for dinner and flew back in one day!
The service was good, one girl with very long long hair served us, she was excellent and helped recommend those dishes to us. She was polite, very smiley and pleasant. We would return just for the service alone BUT in this case, we would return for both: FOOD & SERVICE!
Once we were ready to pay, we were greeted at the cash register by a gentlemen with a smile on his face. We informed him this was our first time at Thaitations. He right away said "Thank you for giving us a try, i hope everything went well with the food and service?" My friends and i all shot back "Oh my goodness, was it ever good!" He giggled with a even bigger smile on his face after that. Just from the small conversation with him, he made us feel very welcomed and comfortable. We asked if we can give goo-dos to the chef, he said "for sure!" A little lady came out with a smile and thanked us, she was so sweet and quiet but very humble.
All in all, I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAITATIONS TO ANYONE. THE SERVICE AND FOOD IS EXCELLENT! WE WERE TREATED WITH SUCH RESPECT AND GREAT APPRECIATION FOR COMING IN.
I DON'T LIVE IN THE AREA OF TRANSCONA, BUT IN ST. JAMES, HOWEVER I WILL GLADLY TRAVEL TO TRANSACONA MORE OFTEN FOR THAITATIONS!!!!!
WE THANK YOU THAITATIONS FOR OPENING UP AND BRINGING REAL THAI FOOD TO US ALL TO ENJOY FOR SUCH A GREAT PRICE!
YUMMMMY. Initially my favorite dish was the pad thai dish, but since returning to the restaurant for it's delicious food, I must say the apple salad and the mango salad are making its way to the top for me! The portions are great and the prices are reasonable. Also, i've tried the lunch buffet twice and great variety of dishes, specailly the curries. My family are in Thailand and I have been there many times, and when I crave Thai food that actually tastes like Thai food from back home this restaurtant is able to deliver! Great restaurant, very happy you guys opened!
Great Thai. This was our first visit to this restaurant, which was recommended by a friend. The food was excellent - spicy dishes came as requested and the service was good - server was knowledgeable and was quick to agree to make one of the meat curries more vegetarian friendly. The quantity of foo was fine and the prices were reasonable. Finally Transcona has a nice sit-down restaraunt.
