If you're looking for an elegant cafe in town, you need to check out BerMax!
This European cafe is elegant, yet modern! It is an excellent place for small business meetings, dates and hangouts.
BerMax serves quite a few of unique specialty drinks! In addition, it also serves pastries, crepes, sandwiches and pasta.
I ordered the Crab, Avocado and Citrus Crêpe and was quite pleased with quality of it.
I also ordered the Ricotta Manicotti and a few pastries (Poppy seed roll, Spanish and fetal bun, Ricotta bun and chocolate croissant). They were delicious!
The owner of the restuanant is such a sweet lady. She made sure my take-out order was kept warm until I left.
I had an absolute positive experience at my visit. I would highly recommend it!
Fantastic food, and even better drinks! I don't like coffee, and had some of my friend's, and even I had to like it. The only downside is the price. Btw yes the place is kosher!
I do travel a lot for business purpose and I do get to visit some fine restaurants and great establishments. So, when I say this place is world-class I really know what I am talking about. The menu is very big and broad range of different items. The coffee bar and full of great Italian coffee selection and the decor is no compare to any place in Winnipeg. Very nice service and nice barista to talk to while whiting for coffee. I go there for breakfast, lunch and dinner and pick up my coffee on the way to the office.
I don't want to be rude, but something has to be completely wrong with you to stay anything else. It's a great social place to spend you time with your friends and family. Thank you for being here guys.
First time here with my fiancé. It looked bigger than it does as it's on a small corner of a strip mall down corydon. I originally went to try the affagato but they didn't have icecream made yet. Instead we shared a smoked salmon pizza and a iced coconut latte . Latte was good, sweet but not super sweet, nice coconut flavor. The pizza had a nice dough but it was not anything extravagant, it was okay. Cafe style place, relaxed atmosphere. They also sell Mediterranean spices and foods which is interesting. They serve Italian illy brand coffee. Service was okay, we weren't really greeted when we walked in but maybe it's due to being a cafe style and sit yourself down type of place. Pizza was more on the high end $19.99... for an okay place that's pretty steep.
I'm so happy I discovered this place. It's such a nice relaxing atmosphere, everyone is super welcoming and the food and drinks are amazing. The Italian and Jewish influence is so nice. There aren't many places like this in Winnipeg and it's quickly become one of my favorite spots! The chocolate cherry iced latte is perfect and the sandwiches are incredible. There is also a small grocery corner that sells products straight from Isreal which is really neat. I definitely recommend this place!
Some of the best service I've experienced in a restaurant. Upon walking in we were helped with the menu by the register. Once we ordered we were told to sit anywhere and the food would be brought to us. They have a beautiful mural on the wall and we were taking pictures. They then offered to take a picture of the two of us. We then sat down and within 5 minutes the food came. I had the smoked salmon sandwich and my girlfriend had the mozzarella sandwich. They were both simple sandwiches but they were packed full of flavor. I commented 5 or 6 times how much I enjoyed my sandwich. My girlfriend said she was transported to Italy (her favourite place) and loved every bite. It was the perfect lunch.
If you visit Winnipeg this is a must visit. I am from NY and honestly that is the only place in Winnipeg where I feel like I am home. World class restaurant and cafe. I can't believe Winnipeg has something like that. Wow... really. It looks like it has been cut out of a fancy Italian fashion magazine. The food is delicious with great presentation. I also love the coffee. That Lavender Mint latte is out of this world. Plus it's super clean. I can really trust it. Thank you guys for making such an amazing place in such crazy city. It must be tough. Best luck!!!
Been here a couple times already. Consistent both times. Great place for vegetarians! So many herbs and flavours in their dishes. Great plating skills here too. I just wish the fridge was quieter so I can hear the music and enjoy my espresso...
Initially we weren't sure if they served breakfast but review of the menu had several good options. Well presented and delicious. Kosher. Fresh ingredients. Excellent coffee.
If you want a truly delicious, high-end perfect latte - you can find it here. They are not speedy - they are all about quality, and the bit of wait is so worth it for me. I've seen other customers get impatient - but hey - this is NOT McDonald's - this is food and coffee meeting art and beauty and quality. Relax and you will enjoy! Their food is delicious and beautifully presented, though the menu is shaped by the fact the shop is dairy kosher, which also, unfortunately for me, also means they are closed from sundown Friday to after sundown Saturday (which in summer meant until Sunday), in religious observance. What a gem the place must be to folks who eat kosher, and how wonderful it is to enjoy their fine offerings as someone who doesn't. The staff are incredibly nice. Maybe it's good they're closed Saturdays. I probably need at least one day off a week form my addiction to latte.
Beautiful interior, nice staff, and really good smooth espresso drinks. I've never had the food but will have to try someday. Recommend the lavender mint latte.
Awesome place! The best place to drink Italian coffee outside of Italy. Also great food and the best service you can get in Winnipeg. Beautiful sophisticated design and lovely music. Thank you BerMax for coming to Winnipeg!!!
My cousin recently came back to the city for a visit and I decided to take her here, which was also my first time. There is no table service here, so all ordering is done at the counter. Menus are available at the front counter so we helped ourselves to it. The menu is simply a stapled booklet. Once we decided on what to order, we went to the counter. I ordered the mushroom crêpe which was close to $10 and a medium sized lavender mint latte which was $5. My husband got a medium sized ice chai latte which was also $5. The order was brought to our table. They made a mistake with making the chai latte hot instead of cold, but we didn't bother to let them know and he just dranked it as is. The lavender mint latte had subtle hint of lavender and I couldn't really taste the mint, but it was still good. My mushroom crêpe came with a side salad. The mushroom crêpe was good, but nothing spectacular to it. Overall, I'd probably return to try the other savoury and sweet crêpes they had.
