Review Diner's Choice - Winnipeg

Generally disappointing - of 3 dishes, one went into the garbage after we each had a taste (Mixed vegetables with deep fried tofu). The tofu was shockingly bitter and the sauce & veggies unpalatable. That was a first for me - throwing out a barely sampled order of food. Two of the dishes were vegetable-based and I have never been served such old, browning with spoilage cauliflower & broccoli. The breaded pork was okay. The seafood chow mein was basically shrimp chow mein, (with 2 other neglible scraps of unidentified seafood), not a lot of shrimp, but okay with the exception of the sad, near decomposed vegetables. Perhaps their strong suits are the breaded meat dishes. Unfortunately, this is the first and last time I will ever order from this restaurant.

It’s Chinese food man! Just enough grease and plenty of servings per size, haven’t met a friend of mine who wasn’t full by their lunch specials for 15$ (P.S we’re all football players) Not a huge fan of their spring roll recipe very vegetably and soggy My favourite dish is their Szechuan Chicken lunch combo, for 1 more dollar you get double the fried rice! 😋😋

Ordered this evening and it was very disappointing. The delivery was prompt and friendly but that was about all that was good. The lemon chicken was literally dripping grease, the bbq pork was absolutely disgusting and probably several days old and a puny portion compared to other restaurants at 9.95. The veal was just okay. Will never be ordering from them again. There are far better options in the area.

Horrible horrible experience. We have an email to prove what we ordered, literally in writting. They brought us stuff we didn't order, stuff my sisters is deathly allergic to, and got an attitude with us when we tried explaining. Again, we had an email to prove what we ordered. After that, we realized they didn't bring us our lemon chicken. They told us we didn't order it, still angry and giving us attitude after the whole debocle. AGAIN, WE HAD AN EMAIL CONFIRMING OUR ORDER. Never again, and you shouldn't order from her either. Food was meh, but I mean it's a Chinese greasy spoon.

Never been there and walked in and walked out 2 minutes later with an amazing Shrimp Fried Rice :)

I love this place. The food is always hot and with generous portions. The meats and mushroom pieces in their fried rice and chow mien dishes are huge. You can never go wrong with their special friend rice. If you love Chinese food, this is the place to get it, even if you live outside their delivery radius and need to pick it up yourself.

We ordered supper from them on new years day. It was by far the worst chinese food I ever had! My husbands meal was just ok, probably because he was starving! Mine was not eatable! I ordered seasame chicken combo plate. The rice and veggies had a strong burnt taste. The sesame chicken was 3 pieces of chicken on top and a big bed of noodles underneath. It never comes with noodles? Also it had a weird ketchup sauce instead of the sause it typically has. We live out of town so no way we were going back to get it remade. Will never go back or recommend to anyone!

First time ordering and I think we've found our new neighbourhood Chinese food restaurant. The food was delicious, especially the breaded pork (also ordered chicken chow mein, and chicken balls). We ordered two sauces on the side, honey garlic (good) and sweet & sour (meh). The only complaint is we found the s&s sauce a little too on the sour side. Really glad we had a back up sauce or we probably would have rated the meal lower. The food arrived hot and in a timely manner. We'd definitely order from here again.

Hole in a wall, north Americanized Chinese food in a nut shell. This is kinda my go to place if I want cheap and fast Chinese take out. Nothing special, food is OK. I've been ordering from here for at least a few years and the most recent was just a few days ago. I have to say that the quality has gone downhill little by little.

I do have to comment on the poor and rude service though. The girl (owner's daughter) who often answers the phone is rude and snappy. One time I phoned at 9:30 ish for delivery and I got an ear full from the owner on how they close at 10 and its late blah blah blah. They could've just told me that they no longer deliver at that time, could've done without the lecture. Lol

I really like Diners Choice. Their lemon chicken is delicious. I do have to fight with them every time I want rice noodles in my chow mein , however they make it for me every time and it's really really good. For a hole in the wall, it is yummy!

Piss poor attitude.... Young girl on phone for delivery order snapped at me when I used menu numbers instead of name of items. Not saying please she's forgot who's putting her through med school or maybe she'll just be answering phones at Chinese restaurant. :-/

Worst Chinese food ever. I ordered take out from here based on all the positive reviews and was greatly disappointing. Everything I ordered was bland and tasteless with the exception of the hot and sour soup, which was just ok. The shrimp Lo mein had no flavor and very few shrimp, same thing with the black bean squid... although to be fair I will say the breaded veal was very tender but again lacking in flavor.

Shocked. Wasn't expecting much but it was amazing. Left overs in the fridge actually got eaten!! the hot honey chicken dish was great, it's lightly breaded as opposed to many places where the dish is 90% breading... really impressed and super cheap. had four dishes and soup for $39. This is my new go to for delivery/pick up

Diner's Choice. Long time favorite, plenty of fresh, crispy vegetables and good tofu, especially the Kung Pao Tofu. Pleasant service and atmosphere.
Food Lover
Best chinese food ever. I love the service here, everyone is so nice and friendly. I love the food here, they have huge portion sizes and I love that the prices are reasonable too. Everytime you order here, you get a menu and on that menu there is a free fried rice coupon for everytime you order over $30. I think this is such a good way to keep customers coming back, and not to mention the free fried rice portion sizes are regular sized too, it's a great size. They have really good combos and also their family dinners are great. My favourites here are the deep fried ginger beef, honey spiced chicken, spiced shrimp, and singapore mai funn. I love their sizzling plates when dining in, it always smells so good and everything tastes really good here. They have such good flavours. I definitely recommend this place.

Best so far. Best Chinese food so far. The taste is authentic and food seems fresh. A little pricey but worth it

Best Americanized Chinese Food!. No, this isn't what you would call 'authentic' Chinese food, but who cares? The food is super good, and a cut above most restaurants of this style. For example, their chicken balls have more chicken than batter and there are chunks of real, quality meat in the rice instead of deli meat. It's a little hidden away, which may be why I've never found it to be busy inside.

A good choice.. We have ordered from Diners Choice on several occasions and except for one time, we have been very happy. The food is fresh, the vegetables are always el dente, the servings are generous and the shrimp are never overcooked. This is basic american cantonese take-out but of a good quality. We are picking up tonight.

Classic Americanized Chinese Food. This is a very good choice for Americanized Chinese food. The prices are reasonable, the food is consistent, plentiful and satisfying! My recommendations are the following:

- honey spiced chicken
- deep fried ginger beef
- chicken balls
- sesame chicken

As long as you order the deep fried meats, you will enjoy your dishes. I find that the cooked meats, such as almond cai ding, mongolian ginger beef, diner's secret chicken, etc, taste stale and as if they were microwaved from the freezer.

I keep that in mind when I place my order, and I am not disappointed.

Nothing special at all. Your typical bland suburban Canadian Chinese fare. Not sure how it rates so highly here, I'm guessing the regulars who rave about it have never had anything authentic before. If your idea of Chinese cuisine is sweet n sour chicken balls, chop suey and breaded shrimp than you will feel right at home here. Don't forget your fortune cookie when you pay!
Picky Eater
Crabby Cuisine. So what if I ask politely which combo is the most popular? If their food wasn't so cheap and good I would never eat there because of the attitude I get for asking the odd question about the fare. I'm a paying customer, and these people act like I'm wasting their time! Just cause you're a hole in the wall, doesn't mean you don't have to be polite or professional. If you're reading this: get an attitude adjustment, and a Debit machine for your deliveries while your at it.
All in all, great food. Great prices. Just don't ask questions and you should be okay.
Acrossthecity
Fast. Affordable. Good.. Their breaded shrimp is absolutely delicious and their sweet and sour sauce is much more on the sour side than sweet but we prefer that at our house.

A Lifesaver. Geographically this is the closest seller of food to my home. Boy did I luck out. I gotta say that for the nights where i'm solo and don't feel like cooking, the personal combination plate is an insane good value. All personal combination plates come with a pretty giant portion of fried rice, mixed veg, an egg roll, and your main. I really like the "Hot Honey" which includes their honey spiced chicken. For under $10 including tax, it's delicious and worth the walk.

Very good. We ordered delivery - two kinds of soup and four entrees. All the food was delicious, and was delivered right when they said it would be. I'll definitely order from here again.
Lovetoeat
Delicious. Always fresh. We used to eat here all the time but now live further away so we miss it. Nice consume soup (I know that is not authentic chinese but that is my barometer for a good chinese restaurant). The service is great. It is a very small eating area. We get the shanghai noodles and hot honey chicken. Very clean inside.
Mr. Meat And Potatoes
Honest Food for Honest Prices. If you're looking for excellent, fresh chinese food at very reasonable prices, then stop looking. There's no fancy signs or upscale decor, but you'll find some of the best Chinese food in the City, served piping hot and deliciously fresh. You won't be disappointed!
