The MOST authentic Cantonese restaurant in Winnipeg. Every item on the menu is outstanding! If you want authentic and not "fast food" style Cantonese, this is the spot!

Pictures in my review is the Cantonese fried rice, lemon chicken and deep fried squid (calamari). The prices are pretty good and the portions are huge. Especially the fried rice, it’s difficult to find a deluxe fried rice for just $10! The food comes out fast, and the service is great. Interior could be a little modern, but other than that - this place is good for late night!

This place is affordable and best. Taste is very good. One more plus point is its timings. Starts at 4PM till 4AM. So it is a place for night riders. Taste is very authentic. It is a thumbs up place.

This is my go to for late night Chinese food. They recently changed management, but it appears the new owners didn't try to change any of the many things that worked, most importantly the price has also stayed the same!

The service is average for a Chinese restaurant and the decor and cleanliness is reasonable. I honestly just come here for the food which is great value.

Last night, we ordered a hot and spicy peanut noodle soup with deep fried pork chop (#140) and is one of the best in the city, some people will know this as dam-dam noodles! We also got a plate of salt and pepper fried tofu. The batter was a tad too thick, but still tasty.

If you're looking for a snack or meal late at night, this is the place to go. They are consistently open till 3AM!

BEST BEEF STEW IN TOWN!
Love their food. Although their location isnt the greatest, we love coming to eat here! The service is reasonable, plus their business hours come in so useful for those random nights where we want chinese food at 1 in the morning!

This is my favorite restaurant. The variety of the menu and food quality is absolutely first rate. The price is reasonable and the service efficient! They might serve the best hot and sour soup on Earth :)

Decent Food and Late Hours. The one standout feature of Ken's Restaurant is its late hours. At a time of night in this city where your main options include The Clown, The King, or The Nip, Ken's Restaurant offers a decent meal fresh and quick no matter how much chump change you have left in your pocket. Sizzling Chow Mein and the Fried Fish and Tofu Hot Pot are among some excellent dishes you and your drunk friends can gather around and devour. And the super-MSGified Deep Fried Soft Shell Crab is the ultimate alcohol absorber. And that's what Ken's Restaurant is truly good for: stumbling in after the bars have closed. There are plenty of better Chinese restaurants you can visit when the sun is up, for sure (the superior East Ocean right next door for example, also open late by the way) but there are few that do it this decent past midnight.

Good. Kens is everything you expect when going out to eat Chinese food. It comes very fast and tastes good. I have been a few times and have never waited more than 10 minutes for all my dishes to arrive. If i had to rate everything, its "good". Nothing on the menu will blow you away but thats not expected. Prices are reasonable, food comes very fast, food tastes good, service is good.

A solid 7/10 for Kens. Always worth coming back. Would recommend.

Okay Chinese Food. Kens restaurant food is good. I mean I will put it into 7/10 base on which dishes you ordered.
Overall, the price, portion of dishes, and taste is good. Services sometimes is a bit long. But, others Kens is good, not bad at all. I like to go there for Chinese food.

Hot and Sour. Ken's has been around forever. I don't even remember a time when it wasn't there. It was a fairly popular restaurant years ago, in part because it was open waaaay late. Over the years things declined a bit. It is certainly a little rough around the edges. Don't go for the decor. Dodgy location, ownership changed, I think it may have even closed for a short time. One of the things they were known for back in the day was a really good hot and sour soup. Lately I have been returning to Ken's since my office moved downtown. They have a lot of reasonably priced lunch specials (including a bbq duck noodle soup that is a great value) and the service is prompt. Decided to try the hot and sour today and I am happy to report it is still great IMO. Just the right balance of heat and sour. Bamboo shoots, tofu, black mushrooms (tree fungus just sounds so bad) and slivers of bbq pork. None of the frozen peas and carrots that seem to find their way into so many versions of this. Tops on my list along with Sun Fortune's shrimp wonton H&S. Check it out.

Delicious Feast. Went to Ken's yesterday for a large event that included a full ten course meal. All dishes came out individually and all the food was hot and tasted fresh. Since it was for a special event I am not sure if all of these dishes are regularily available on their menu, but I hope so because I enjoyed everything I tried. For starters came an appetizer platter containing delicious plump fried shrimp dumplings, whole fried prawns, cold seasoned chicken, BBQ pork, and jellyfish. Don't be scared by the "jellyfish" name. It is a cold salad like dish with bits of cabbage and a bit of spice. It does not have any odd flavors or textures. Next came out round pieces of lightly fried tofu that had an egg flavor. It was served with an abundance of snow peas, baby bok choy, and other steamed vegetables. Next came a thick clear soup with bits of green onion and egg white. It was not very flavorful and needed either some pepper or vinegar for flavoring. Next came a whole chicken cut up with a soy glaze. It was tender, juicy, and very flavorful. Dish #5 was a Lobster Chow Mein with huge chunks of cut up lobster. It tasted super fresh and because it was already cut up there was no mess. The noodles were also delicious. Dish #6 was a light soup filled with shredded chicken pieces and greens. There also looked to be pieces of egg in the broth. Simple, but nice. Dish #7 was the standard sweet and sour pork. Pork was lightly breaded and very good. Dish #8 was pieces of breaded fish. The bite size pieces had a tempura batter and came out hot with thin strips of ginger on top. Super good. Dish #9 was beef and greens. The beef was tender and the greens perfectly cooked. Finally, dish #10 which everyone was pretty much too full to eat was a nice fried rice filled with cubes of pork, shrimp, and vegetables. Lastly, for dessert everyone had a bowl of a warm red bean soup.
Overall this feast was delicious and service was good. I am not sure how my meal compares with the usual Canadianized dishes Ken's is more known for, but based on what I sampled I would definitely return.

Ken's...a Winnipeg institution. Okay, let's be up front here. This is not where you are gonna take your mom & dad when they drive in to town. This is for hungry bar-stars and those familiar with it that come regularly. It's charms are mostly in its history to Winnipeg and any given individual. This Chinese food restaurant serves such a multitude of items that your head will spin. The menu is a text book. From traditional fare such as various Duck dishes right up to sizzling satay plates, this largish sit in/take-out establishment will not leave you hungry. Definitely in a seedier part of town and make sure you lock your doors. They seem to always be open, but I think they shut it down at 4 am. Fairly dirty interior with acceptable service but don't expect any freebies or hand-outs. This is Ken's business and it is obvious he is here to make money. I enjoy it from time to time but I always get the feeling cooks are potentially being tortured in the back.

Pretty good lunch. I only eat at Ken's at lunch time and have not had any bad experiences. The new lunch menu is decent and the prices are good. I am slightly addicted to the deluxe wonton soup that has a nice variety of meats and vegetables. The place usually has lots of room at lunch so I don't have to deal with crowds and noise.

GOOD FOOD. I love their 5 spice pork chop and duck fried rice. A friend introduced me to ken's- ever since I've been stuck on it. I order it once in a blue moon though cos...I put my ma waist line in 2 consideration. So should you.

We have been here quite often lately. Usually the food tastes good and fast but on the weekends I guess due to high season the food came out too salty and the wait time is much longer. After all it’s worth trying.

My favorite Chinese restaurant in Winnipeg. They usually have seats available so you don't have to expect any waiting. Servers are friendly, frequently refilling water. Service is pretty fast too. They don't ask you how the food is but I like it that way. Reasonable or large food portions for price. They have big tables too so it should be a good dinner party place too. My only complaint is the neighbor they are in. It's a little scary to visit at night.

Great food. Reasonably priced dishes. Fried Chicken with chilis and honey is very good! Or try the Fried chicken with a brown chili sauce ( no mushrooms for me) is my favorite. Add a Ken's mixed veg and tofu for a perfect meal for two.

Loved the food and ambiance. Place is open late night and offers a wide variety of dishes served hot. I highly recommend the sizzling dishes and it's quite a show watching the food being poured onto the plates with the first sizzles turning up your taste buds!
