Absolutely the best bacon cheeseburger in town..fries are fantastic and the milkshakes are over the top..They had great competition with some of Winnipegs oldest and finest burger joints but deservedly won on the quality and care they put in to their food ±

Great no frills burger place in the North End area. Their Fatburgers are just pure comfort food. So filling, satisfying, and affordable (around $6 for a burger that's way bigger, fresher, and fuller than the large burgers you get around the same price in any fast food place). Also order their creamy milkshakes, which are a perfect pair to their awesome, juicy burger.
This was a spectacular burger and fries. Traditional Greek family and burgers, with the traditional drive-in style I remember from my youth in the North End. This might just be my favourite Greek-style burgers in Winnipeg, yet. As well, the fries were obviously cooked the old-fashioned way in animal fat. :) mmmmm.
Had the Fatboy with fries, and it was amazing. The burger is big and flavourful and moist and crisp, the veggie toppings were crisp and fresh, the chili was really tasty, the bun is super soft and delicious, and the fries were some of the best I've had.
The wife and I love the burgers. The fries are the best I've ever had (this is high praise as I've eaten a ton of fries!) The white top make a top top notch burger. The ice cream is decadent! Go and eat at the White Top you will not be disappointed.
White top never dissapoints and is always busy in the summertime. The ice cream is fantastic and I only had one bad experience where she forgot my order and I waited for it for 25 minutes. But the food never dissapoints. Definitely a North End staple
Best soft served ice-cream in the city!! My family buys the poutine from here regularly and the burgers aren't too shabby. A classic joint in the North End that I hope never goes away!

FRIES MADE IN HEAVEN!. I have found my favorite place for fries. This place has the BEST FRIES I've ever had in the city! I don't know how they make it, they're so so so GOOD! Don't ever miss out on their wonderful tasty French fries.

Great local fast food. Based on everyone's reviews I knew I had to try their fat boy burger and fries. I don't have any complaints. The fat boy was delicious and messy to eat, just as expected. I found it comparable to George's fat boy. What really stood out were their big portion of crisp and meaty fries that were surprisingly not greasy. The fries weren't really salted, but they didn't necessarily need it. The fries are enough of a reason to keep coming back.
The best fatboy burger in town, fries and gravy/chili are awesome as well.
Chilli burger. I love the chilli burgers here, they put it in a cup a pour chilli over it. At least you don't have a mess after. All the burgers here are good. Fries are great too.
Burger Love. The bacon-double-cheeseburger at White Top is a little bit of heaven. They manage to cook the bacon to leathery perfection every time. The day they folded the bacon in half to make a bacon layer between the patties was life changing for me. I want it that way every time now! I really enjoy their chili – it has great texture and flavor – and the beef patties taste fresh, juicy with a nice beefy flavor. Thank you White Top!

I'm so thankful.. Me&my mom were driving around to look for soft ice-cream, we went to 4 places that took cash only, (she only had her card) then we went to white top, we ordered then that's when we found out it was also cash only. But! The guy there said "that's okay," He is one of the nicest men I have ever met, I wish the best for him. Also, white top is a great drive thru ! Keep up the excellent work! :)

YUMMERS! Will definitely be back!. I've driven by then establishment for many years and finally decided to try it out after reading rave reviews.
Went with a friend of mine yesterday for lunch. Thank goodness we got there when we did, as soon as we got out order, there was a line of five cars and three people that walked up.
Like other reviews have stated, it is ridiculously clean in there. Definitely not what I expected.
My friend and I each got a cheese burger, mine without any mustard. We also ordered a poutine to share.
Taking the burger out of the bag, it already felt good. There was this weight to it, a sort of fullness that made my mouth water. Sorry if that sounds weird. Its hard to explain! The burger was super yummy. But next time, I'd for sure get the fat boy, or a double burger. I personally feel that there the bread to meat and condiments ratio was a little off. My friend however had no complaints.
The fries were nice and crispy with just the right amount of gravy. The only complaint is that the cheese was shredded instead of curds. But I didn't really care - still tasted great.
Over all, I really enjoyed my first visit to White Top. Food was really good and the service was extremely friendly!
I will definitely be back. If you have ever thought of going here, do yourself a favour and go! You will not regret it.

I've always been a burger lover but my husband is not so it is frustrating coz I don't normally get a taste of one of my faves. We moved to the Northend and discovered this drive in and tried it since it was walking distance from our house. Because the FATBOY was just soooo good, my husband really enjoyed it and everytime season for drive ins comes, he always asks me to walk to White Top.

No Surprises!. Read about The White Top and decided to take the trip over. I went a few days ago, Sunday I believe. Yes, it's in that part of town some people are uncomfortable with. Don't worry, you can pull up to a window with your car and place an order.
I enquired about patty size as I was unsure about going single or double. The gentleman told me the patties were a good size, but if you were really hungry, get a double. So, double it was, less pickles and he was even kind enough to fulfil my request for fried onions. There was a 3 or 4 minute wait as everything is made to order. The dbl. cheeseburger came with chili, mustard and fried onions, just the way I like it. It was a fairly large burger and being a big eater, I just managed to finish it. It had all the right flavours going on, no weird spices in the chili here. The patties were nice and moist and had just the right amount of toppings. Eating in the car, I'm always worried about making a mess, but this burger was easy to eat. In fact, it was so good I couldn't believe how fast I ate it!
The fries were good, fresh, hot and slightly crispy on the outside. They came salted, but salt and vinegar packets were present in the bag for those who really like their sodium.
All and all, I have to say The White Top represents great tasting burgers and fries with no surprises. It will most definitely be added to my list of "GO TO" burger places.
What a crap day - April 15 & it's snowing - REALLY ???? White Top drive thru and now everything in my world is good once again. MMMMMM, fries to die for. Thanks guys for your magic touch.

say ...... WOW! !!!! Absolutely THE best tasting fries I have ever enjoyed. Fat Boy was nearly as perfect but those fries OMG. I will definitely be back soon bringing more hungry buds with me. Oh yeah, their kitchen/prep area ..... SPOTLESS! !

Yuummm. We went for lunch and had fat boys and shared an order of fries. Great value, for around $15 we each had a massive burger and shared the fries (probably enough food for about 3 people). The area can sometimes be a little rough but the staff is great.
Distinction of its own. We have been long time regulars at White Top and have never been disappointed yet. After such a long time you would think that something would change, but in fact the fat boy et al taste just as good as 20+ years ago. Portion size is more than what you pay for. French fries are great with the equally tasty gravy. If you have never been to White Top, make it a priority and you will be back over and over again. Only draw back is the limited drive-in space and not the greatest area to be sitting waiting for a burger. However, usually the wait time is less than 8-10 minutes (worth waiting for). Hands-down one of the best burgers in the city. At the top of the top five burger list. Very friendly and attentive in taking your order. A++++

Just went there this afternoon and a first timer. Staff very efficient, super friendly (and good looking too!). Once I got my fat boy and fries home I was definitely satisfied with the food. Excellent value! I'll be back and will bring a friend!!

Best Milkshake!. So we decided we needed to try this place. As per many reviews here, the service is amazingly friendly and really great. The food takes a little while but it was a gorgeous day so I enjoyed hanging around outside soaking up some sun with my hubby. we wanted to try a range of stuff so he went with a plain cheeseburger, a poutine, and a vanilla shake while i went with a plain bacon cheeseburger, poutine made with chilli, and a blueberry shake.
The shakes arrived first and straight away I was in love with my blueberry shake. I asked hubby to try some which is something I would never usually do as he's strictly vanilla when it comes to his milkshakes and ice-cream. He loved it too though so that speaks volumes. The food arrived a little while later and we went to the car to eat it. Since we were parked next to the building, we decided to eat there.
Both of our poutines were gravy, not chilli for mine, but since we were hungry and I wasn't overly fussed, and didn't want to wait again, I just opted to be okay with it. (not the end of the world after all) The poutine wasn't bad. I'm not too fond of the occasional lumps in the gravy but find it a bit mild in flavour but it was still tasty and be warned the portions are HUGE. I stopped eating mine half way through as I wanted to try my burger. Tasty! The patties are thin but with having bacon with mine - and they aren't stingy with the bacon - it didn't matter so much. Hubby wasn't too impressed and said the burger had seasonings that just didn't really appeal to him and he removed some of his bun as there was a bit too much for the burger.
The staff came out to give someone else their food and came over and commented that he think he messed up our order and then he took mine back in and added chilli which was really awesome of him. He also took the time to comment he hadn't seen us before and asked whether it was our first time here etc. Just another shining example of the great service and welcoming manner.
My favourite part (other than the service) was definitely the milkshake. Now that it's summer I tend to not eat a lot of fried stuff as I find it too heavy for this time of year but I can guarantee I'm going to be back for many of the milkshakes. The only thing I disliked about mine, was that I finally reached the end of it!
At The Top. I really like this place. It ranks up there with Mrs. Mike's and VJ's. It's very fresh tasting, it's made to order. The fare is the classic "Big Boy" style, with the chili sauce. They do it very, very well, true, classic, "Big Boy" style. I think, they are celebrating 40 years making "Fat Boys". I think that puts them in the "founders" column. Location a bit sketchy, but they have a drive thru. But expect it, to take a while. I also would like to say how clean this place is. Every single time, I notice how clean it is. They are super friendly. And every time, after consuming their food, there's this small euphoria, that everything went right.
AAWWEESSOOMMEE. -always put off by the location, but finally took my son as a bodyguard and ventured to this treasure. Best burger I have had in Winnipeg, and I've frequented Dari-whip, VJ's, Red Top and the others for years. Will be back again..and again..... and probably again
Good eats. Good homemade burgers and fries. Consistent. One of my top picks for burgers. Don't care for the location though and eating in my car!
Best burger in the city!. The White has everything a diner should! Their cheeseburger cannot be beat, the french fries are also my favorite in the city! And for dessert a swirl cone! Mmmm! Can't be beat!
Always delicious!. It's a great restaurant & the owner is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. No matter who is working or cooking the food is always fresh and tasty.

Best ice-cream and people. If you ask any kid in the North End where the best food and treats are, there is no doubt in my mind that you would hear a loud and resounding "WHITE TOP" from them all. And if you have ever been there, this would be no surprise to you...many times I have indulged myself with a delicious sundae or banana split. But recently I have been struck not only by the amazing food, but also the generosity and class of the staff and ownership of this establishment.
As a North End youth worker, connecting with kids over frozen treats is one of the many ways we try to show that we care about these youth. One day a group of 4 youth and another worker and I set out to White Top for ice cream. When we arrived and placed our order i was embarrassed to realize that we had not brought enough money to pay for the whole group. As i began to explain to the kids that we were only going to be able to pay for 2 of them to have ice cream, an employee (or owner...not sure) gently interrupted me and said it would be no problem, once he had served all the youth, he then turned to me and my fellow youth worker and asked what we would like. We insisted that it was too much that he was giving us, and that we didn't feel right not paying. He then asked how much money we did have, i produced a loonie and he said, that'll be good. He effectively gave us 6 ice cream dishes (most of them larges) for the price of 2 smalls.
White Top? HELL YES !!. Great people, very fun to go to, staff always happy and looking like there actually having a good time and not just putting on a show. They care for there hood and they love the people in it!! WELL DONE YOU HAVE MY VOTE !!

Urban Spoon is Amazing. Seriously - this place has THE best staff. Super kind and polite. They treat you like you're at a high end restaurant - and the icecream is super amazing! I would actually rather eat this icecream than the BDI! Go White Top!!

I just had a Fat Boy and fries from the White Top for lunch and I am now sitting in my chair with that contented feeling you get when you indulge in comfort food; I've mentioned this place before but if you're new to my blog let me fill you in. The White Top is located on Salter, in between Manitoba and Magnus. It is a take-out only place, but it has a drive-thru if you are to chicken to get out of your car (which, of course you shouldn't be, get over it). Call on your way there and place your order and then you don't even need to wait, instant burger gratification.
