I haven't been back to KFC in 2 years now. This is the best freakin soul food ibha e ever had in my life. I speak highly about this place to all my customers.
My favourite fast food! Love to go on a Monday to get the Big Mary special. The chicken in the sandwich is always a really good sized portion and the seasoning is tasty. I find the meat tender, doesn't have any stringy bits and the batter is crispy. I've never had a better chicken sandwich! I also love the gravy that comes on the poutine. The chicken poppers are enjoyable, but nothing special.

Best chicken ever, they use fresh chicken which they marinade and bread each day. Soooooo delicious. Grew up on this stuff from back home on the east coast. No chicken place can compare.
I had to run over to Petsmart next door and it was the smell that got me. The smell is what introduced me to Mary Brown's. I simply had to try whatever was producing that wonderful scent. I had to get something easy to eat in the car because I knew when I got home I had to continue with renovating the bathroom. Tried the chicken fingers with dipping sauce. Delicious, moist and tender.
So good in fact I drove out of my way days later to try out a Mary Brown's feast. It came with fried chicken, taters, coleslaw and gravy. The pieces of fried chicken were huge and so flavourful, but the taters; omfg. I don't know if I got an exceptionally good batch that day, but they were so crispy on the edges with just the right amount of salt and spice. I don't know if I would mark those taters as one of the better experiences I've had with my clothes on, but close.
It is not a matter of will I go back. It is a matter of when.
Yummy and fresh! I had a piece of the chicken breast and it was juicy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. The batter is flavourful and fresh and I don't know how it has a 2.9 review. If I had looked at this review before going there I probably wouldn't have gone, but I'm glad I just went on a whim and tried it out!
Got coupons in the mail and decided to try them out, well to my surprise the chicken was so fresh and the coating on the chicken was not thick and dripping with grease,hands down I will be back for more they have me hooked on this place. Also the taters were delisious All and all beats the other chain store hands down. Thanks Mary Brown
It's good chicken and coleslaw and fries and gravy. Not salty . Tastes like homemade fresh crispy and not greasy. Big pieces. You get what you pay for.
Comparing this chicken to the other big chicken chain its much much better in taste, juiciness and IMO has bigger pieces. The potato wedges are very good, much better than the others fries. The coleslaw is good and again much better than the other. Price wise I'm willing to pay a little bit more for much better taste and quality. My only problem with this location is that it is a bit of a drive to get here. Hoping that they built one in my neighborhood. It would become my go to chicken restaurant.
first time trying out their chicken. i must say its one of the tastiest fried chicken in wpg. i scaled 3.5/5 because of price and portion. the chicken are small. KFC chicken are bigger than Mary Brown's, and even Charlie Biggs chicken. and price is a bit high paid about $14 for 3pc chicken and wedges with drink inc. its good to try mary browns but, i would probably come back if i feel like spending that amount of money for 3pc chicken. i could've bought costco whole rotisery chicken for $7.99 and fed my whole family.
the place is well maintained. very clean. washrooms are clean. fast service and good staff.
Went here a while ago with my family, it was really good. The chicken was delicious, so was the coleslaw & the fries were good too, only complaint is that if you want to eat in, they don't have much seating space. Also, the wait time was about 10-20 minutes I would estimate
This Canadian chain has some of the best fried chicken in Winnipeg. Much better than the large American chain. The chicken was crispy outside, moist and tender inside and seasoned nicely. The taters are similar to wedges available at other places but Mary Brown's wedges are bite-sized rather than the large sized ones the other chains carry. We also tried the 2 sizes of Mary's (chicken burgers) and they also were moist and flavourful. We shall return and often!
The wedges with gravy tasted a little salty. However the "Big Mary" Chicken sandwich was amazing, i would describe this place as "the way KFC used to be"

Came in for lunch with some friends. We were all craving fried chicken so we thought this would be a good place to try out. The restaurant is small. There are only about six 4-person tables. There is also a bar against the window that can seat another four people... This place is counter service, so it's pretty similar to KFC. Service is very efficient, they take your order and they give you your food. I am very impressed by how clean the restaurant is and it gives you a good first impression!
On my latest visit, we ordered the 10 piece meal to share amongst the four of us. They do not have a fountain for drinks here. Everything is canned, but they do have a four drinks for $4 deal which is fine. Also, they do not have paper/styro cups for water. If you want water, you have to buy bottled water which in my opinion is super silly. Strangely when we came (which was right at noon), there was a 10 minute wait for the chicken. They apologized but since we were in no rush, it was fine (they also gave us a small plate of taters to snack on while we waited).
The chicken was tasty. It was fresh out of the fryer and very hot and juicy. The taters were good. The gravy went with the taters well. The coleslaw tastes like what I would buy at Superstore (not in a bad way, just nothing special). I wouldn't say this was the best chicken I've had nor do I find their prices that great either. I would say the chicken is better than KFC, but I would seriously question if I'd come here if I had coupons for KFC which gets mailed out rather often... They also have sandwiches. The only one I've tried is the Mini Mary sandwich. I would compare it to a Buddy Burger from A&W and unfortunately, I prefer the Buddy Burger.
All in all, Mary Browns does a good job at making a tasty fried chicken.
