Have been coming to Tang’s off and on for the past several years. This place has very tasty dim sum during the weekends and decent Chinese takeout during the week. The dim sum menu is smaller than other places, but they make up for it in quality. They serve some of the best steamed dumplings in the city.
Make sure to either make a reservation or come early. The restaurant is small and generally cannot accommodate large groups. But if you have 8 or less people their round tables can sit you. Nevertheless, each and every time I come here, there is usually a wait by noon.
Do give their dim sum a try. It is awesome to see a little shop of this quality in this area of town. Definitely best dim sum restaurant in the area!
Tried a couple years ago and wasn't impressed but heard it was under new ownership so decided to give it another try. Way better then our last experience! Tasty fresh food, not too greasy. My husband is Chinese so is very particular about Chinese food and he really enjoyed it too. Will order again!
Made a pick up order. Nothing extremely special about the experience or the food. The packaging was a huge improvement from the typical foil. But mainly bought food from here due to location
take-out
large portions
tasted great
ginger beef was good, so was the chow mein
didn't order much but what i ordered was good
the dry breaded shrimp were so good too
Very reasonably priced food. Great for lunch!
Always Good. We've been eating at Tang Dynasty since it opened. The food is always above average. Sometimes the service is slow, however its friendly. the food is worth the wait.
Just had combo 7 price is really good for what you get the taste is above average and it's clean and very presentable
Most Romantic Restaurants in Winnipeg. Excellent service, food and atmosphere .... Your deserve to be treated like a princess and it work ... I proposed, she said yes and the experience was fabulous .... Now it is our romantic destination. The food is lovely, the service was some of the best I have ever experienced, and the ambiance was perfect..Very impressed, will be back when there is a little more in the savings account!
Take Out. We had take-out from here and really enjoyed it. My parents ordered it for a extended family dinner, so it was there choices, curry chicken, kung pow chicken, vegetable tofu, breaded shrimp, mixed vegetables....to be honest I don't remember all the dishes they ordered but we are pretty fussy about our chinese food and we enjoyed it. Did not find it greasy-- found it to be really fresh. Thought the portion size was large. I am going to order it again tonight so I can see if it was just a fluke. Perhaps they have improved from the last reviews.
No MSG. We go here all the time. EXCELLENT, very friendly and good food. Some may say a little bland, but that would be due to the no MSG!
One of few good Chinese restaurants in South East of city. I've been going to this restaurant since the week it opened, and I have seen it go from good to bad. A lot of people love it, but depending on what you order there, you may hate it.
Ordering right, the food is incredible. I ordered all of my Chinese restaurant favorites and they were all very good. The Crispy Ginger Beef was very tender yet crispy on the outside exactly as it should be... not chewy at all. The Tang Deluxe Chow Mein was very good, the Gai Lan was cooked perfectly, the squid was very tender (for the first time anywhere I found it wasn't chewy). I also had a chance to try their mapo tofu, but despite the owner warning me that it would be spicy (I wanted it to be spicy!) it came to the table very mild. Still tasted good though, but I wish it was hotter.
However, the food can be downright bad apparently. I haven't had a bad experience myself, but of all the people I've referred to this place, the number one thing that turns them away from it is the chicken. They often say that the chicken was so bad, they won't go back. Personally, I haven't really had any chicken dishes there, so I wouldn't know what's so bad about them, but as I said, I haven't had a bad experience myself.
Service is usually phenomenal. The owner came out and made sure everyone's tables were taken care of personally, she stayed around and chatted with us for a while about where she was from, how business was, and was generally VERY friendly.
This place can be either really good or really bad. If you do go, definitely try the Crispy Ginger Beef, as it just might be the best I've had in the city. The scallops and gai lan is also something you'll want to try.
Delicious. Just went to Tang Dynasty for the second time last night. The server was kind and attentive. Had a mixed combo plate with rice, egg roll, consomme, chicken bean sprouts and breaded veal. Food was served promptly. Bean sprouts were very crunchy and fresh. Breading on veal was just enough and done perfectly. Overall it was an excellent dining experience. I give it a big thumbs up.
Nice, friendly and usually good small place to chill. Been there few times during quiet times and service is usually great, but lastime was a bit slow during REAL busy time but not too bad. No complaints. Food is great especially for it's affordable price. Not big fan of their eggrolls could be better but overall it's good. It is small staff like 2 ppl so I suggest going in person rather than ordering.
Really good food that isn't too heavy or greasy. Great chicken balls. Best Chinese we've found in St. Vital area so far.
Not bad for a small family run eatery! When I'm home for a visit we always have a Tangtasic dinner! Friendly always and I would say some of the best American Chineese food in the peg. Dry breaded shrimp and Ginger beef are highlights. Street noodles too if you like yellow curry! Give it a try even if you have to wait!
Fairly new restaurant. I went there for my birthday in early December 2009. AMAZING. I loved it so much, it's now my favourite Chinese restaurant. They have a very wide selection of food on their menu, and all of the 8 items that my family and I ordered were large portions, and all around 8$ an item. There was plenty to take home, and along with the drinks and the appetizers we got it all came to about 65-70$ for all our stuff, which is very good. We were expecting more with such good food. The service was very good, considering they are a small eat in restaurant. They also do take out, but I much rather eat in with the gorgeous Chinese decor covering the wall and bamboo plants. Good service, great food, great price, good decor, what more could you ask for for a simple dinner? :)
