Review Goodies Bake Shop Ltd. - Winnipeg

Not That Girl
I've ordered a few different cakes and pies from here over the past couple of years and am disappointed every time. I kept giving it another chance thinking maybe it was an off day, but it's been several times now that I've received a very dry and boring cake. -Ordered the Tia Maria Torte and the cookies tasted stale and the whipped cream was greasy. (I make a much better one myself) -Stopped in for a pastry after going to the flea market and was treated with hostility. Like seriously the worst customer service I've had in my life. And I served for 14 years before getting my nursing degree, so I have a lot of patience and understanding for people in customer service positions. - My friend ordered a chocolate cake for her husband's birthday, and it was so dry that not a single person at the party finished their piece. The last straw was the banana cream pie my roommate ordered recently. The "homemade" crust tasted and looked frozen and store bought. There were so few bananas that we had to go looking for them because you couldn't taste them. And the 3 inches of whipped cream was, again, greasy. Like edible oil product. Neither of us will ever order from here again, I'm honestly astonished by all the positive reviews.

Best cakes in Winnipeg in par with Baked expectations and la grotta! If you like variety of unique flavored cakes and like lighter and fluffy whipping cream based cakes, this is the place to go. They always have plenty of pre-made cakes that you don't have to order ahead of time unless you are wanting a bigger size cake. Price is reasonable as well!

I had a wonderful experience with Goodies. I ordered for a custom cake for our gender reveal. Even with a short notice, Ms. Linda, the manager said yes. 😍❤️🎉 The cake was simply beautiful. My husband and I loved it. More power to GOODIES! God bless! 🙏

I love it here. Very delicious baking every time. I’m not a huge fan of macaroons but when my friend bought a pack I fell in love. Their cakes and cupcakes are also to die for. I’ve had a few that weren’t the freshest but they were premade.

I can’t even begin to explain how HAPPY my son was when he got his cake. This was my first time ordering online for a cake without going to the physical location. All I did was send a picture of what I wanted to their email and gave them the delivery date. It was perfectly made just the way he wanted it. It was beautiful and yummy and extra-soft (just like I specifically asked for). The customer service was AMAZING. I got replies to my emails/requests in actual minutes and the cake got delivered right on time and without any issues. Definitely making this my go-to cake shop and will 100% recommend.

Got their Lemon Chiffon cake on my wife's birthday. Orders 2 days in advance and explicitly requested to make it fresh. However, the cake was extremely dry, near uneatable cardboard like. Very disappointed with the quality.

I ordered a customize cake, they made exactly as I wanted, I am happy with their customer service and good work. My favorites are cheese cake and red velvet. Highly recommended!!!!

Twelve years ago we bought a half slab Red Velvet cake for our wedding, and it was so good I didn't get a piece! So this year I ordered a Red Velvet cake for my birthday. Wow!! It was so good! The cream cheese icing was delicious...not too sweet...and the cake was super moist! I will buy this again!

This bakery is heaven sent! It's our go-to bakery shop for special occasions. We have tried many bakeshops in the city but this one is on my top list! Cakes are very light and yummy! We were never disappointed! Prices are reasonable and very upfront with their prices. Other places, they will ask you how much is your budget first, which is very sneaky. Our favorite is the Lemon raspberry white chocolate cake. I ordered mango mandarin orange cream cake for my son's first birthday on Sat. I have never had it before but I'm pretty sure it's going to be good! It's so easy to pre-order cakes and flexible with times (I had to change pick up from Sat to Friday and they accommodate that). I always recommend them to my friends! Thank you Goodies for making our birthdays extra special!

Love this bakery!! We drive all the way from Transcona for macarons and vanilla slice!! The service has been awesome each time we’ve gone! A wee bit pricey (and we buy way too much) but worth it every time
Amanda Sinclair
Horrible service and a very disappointed 9 year old. I ordered about 2 weeks ago and I tried over and over again to contact them, no one got in contact with me despite me leaving messages. Won't ever ordered from this place again and I will tell my friends and family about their poor service as well. Very heartbreaking that I have to tell my son he won't get his cake this year.
Stacey Lesley
We had exceptional service! The lady working gave us a cup of coffee to have with our dessert and our little one a free cookie! Everything looks and tastes amazing!!! Highly recommend!!

Have to rate at 1 star because I wasn't able to try anything. :( Someone had told me they carry baked goods without eggs and milk but they have stiff without eggs, stuff without dairy but nothing without dairy and eggs. Booo.. was a disappointing trip
Dan Lu
Pretty pricy, but some of the cakes are not fresh at all, probably sat there for days! The cakes I bought looks very nice, until I ate it to find out that was cheaply made, no better than Safeway or Soby’s stuff, very disappointed!

This neighborhood bakery is definitely my very favourite . I will always recommend Goodies to my friends for any baking, dinner ideas and especially the gelati

So good! I have ordered from there shop couple of times and each time you get the baked goods it always looks and tastes amazing! I ordered a Oreo cheese cake for my bday and it was so good it really made my day thank you!

I've tried quite a few items from Goodies over the past few weeks and have yet to be disappointed! Their Tia Maria torte and lemon raspberry torte were delicious! Their apple jacks are yummy. And their Shmoo and zuccoto are a few of my definite favourites of the individual sized tortes. I will definitely be back.. Probably weekly since it's close ☺️

Delicious desserts made from scratch and manually crafted. Prescribed to everyone to perk your day! Indulge a little!

My fabulous work mates ordered me a coconut cream pie for birthday celebration. So excited! Sadly when we started to eat it we realized this: the whip cream was spoiled, the cake itself was sour and the crust was stale and freezer burnt. Called immediately and spoke with Linda who said “I guess we will have to make to order in the future”. She offered a refund. No compensation (ie; a fresh pie in replacement). It was an inconvenience to have to return the pie and get the refund. Personally I think they should have been mortified that as a bakery they sold a disgusting product that was obviously old. I think besides being sorry, it should be made right, at no cost, to compensate for the inconvenience and the awful taste left in our mouths.

Toad Hall Toys ordered our 40th Birthday cake from Goodies. It was a full slab Lemon Curd and it was so delicious! If you are looking for a slab cake for an event, be sure to call Goodies!!!

could literally eat everything in here. So good.

Amazing customer service and all of the desserts are absolutely delicious. Best bakery in winnipeg

Prices are great. Selection is dangerously awesome. Never once been disappointed.

Not a safe place to go by yourself. My husband sent me in by myself just for a couple of desserts and I ended coming out with a lot more. So many wonderful desserts. So beautiful and yummy. Their gelatti was excellent...LOVE.
Michelle Waldner
Never have I been disappointed by the treats from this bakery! They are absolutely decadent and never overwhelmingly sweet, the raspberry cheesecake brownies are one of the best items on the menu. I find it hard to walk away having spent any less then $50 when I go
Meghan
May very well be the worst bakery in all of Winnipeg. Let me tell you why.. So I had been to Goodies once before (about a year and a half ago) and the cupcake frosting tasted like someone literally blew cigarette smoke into the mixer as it was mixing.. just nasty. We went back and got a full refund on them (I know it's not all that expensive but it's the principal of the thing).

Fast forward to last night, my dear friend had ordered a cake from them for her daughters first birthday. Don't get me wrong... this cake was absolutely gorgeous with pink ombre buttercream rose's and a sparkly gold "happy birthday" sign but oh my god it was the driest most bland cake I have ever eaten. Being a professional cook and baker, I understand what was wrong with it. The cake was bread-like (a result of severe over mixing of the batter when gluten strands are formed), had next to no vanilla flavour and very very minimal salt (salt is important for enhancing flavour). I really feel bad because she spent her hard earned money on this thing (about $70 for a three tier nine inch round).

Every time I come in I’m always greeted with warm smiles and really great customer service. The ladies up front are truly amazing. Their macarons are amazing not to sweet just enough and they are always making new flavours. The last time I went in I had no idea what cake to order and they were very patient with me and the cake I ended up getting (the chocolate nirvana) was amazing and my whole family loved it. This is definitely my favourite place to go for cakes and goodies. They’ve also done some Reno’s and it just looks so much nicer and brighter. Love it can’t wait to go back

One of my pet peeves is when a bakery sells you items at full price that have been sitting for days and have dried out.

The macarons were completely inedible as they were rock solid and they came from a large batch. I made this purchase at night which means they sold them again the next day. There comes a point in time where you need to discard food that has passed its date.

I was ecstatic at their large selection but it's hard to tell how long everything has been sitting out for.

Stopped in for a treat and didn't realize I had never done a review. Picked up some yummy Easter cookies (similar to "imperial cookies") but they forgot to tell us they were freshly dipped and stacked they in a paper bag. A few of these were intended as treats for others, so we were fairly upset since the decorative icing was ruined and filling so soft that the cookies were sliding apart. This was obviously a good thing relative to cookie freshness, but could've been packaged a little differently for us. After they fell apart by the time we got to our vehicle, I went back in for wax paper and explained.
NOW, to get away from the seemingly negative feedback... the mini snack size raspberry cheesecake and marble cheesecake were great!!! Creamy and mmmmmm, delicious... not to sweet, just right. We have ordered cake here often and is definitely a need to try cake shop if you haven't yet. We sometimes pick up some macarons here and they are ok, but we like the foccacia and assorted savoury selections.
A small place with great selections of baked goods. I've tried their butter tarts and was very good. The service was fast and friendly. They do also catering. Parking can be a challenge.

Goodies Bake Shop :( !! They are imposters! They sold gluten free products that were not gluten free! If you bought a cake or something gluten free because YOU ARE gluten intolerant, be aware and check it out! You might be sick! Guess why now they do not sell gluten free products anymore! The health dept will also confirm it! This is terrible..

I bought Goodies' Gluten free products In August and the first week of September, the cashier did not warn me about gluten free risks, and any disclaimer was present at that time. The first time I double check and I have been guaranteed that the product was gluten free. I was so happy to find a nice place next to me where buy gluten free product. My sister is really gluten intolerant and we will proceed to investigate if this situation created health problems. The information received by an internal employee at Goodies was clear: they was making gluten free products without follow the law and making false declaration! Also a label Gluten free was stick on the packaging so Goodies do not have any excuse!

Most of the mini desserts are good and there are so many to choose from! I've had their gelato a couple times (pistachio and watermelon are the flavors I've tried) and it was very good - natural tasting and not too sweet.

But the few times I've bought a cake from them have been very disappointing. The crumb was dry and had a weird texture and the icing was too sweet, not to mention the whole thing was flavourless. How is it even possible to make a black forest cake taste like nothing?!

And never, ever, get the macarons! They are just cloyingly sweet and have an overwhelming taste of artificial extract. They are also small and often mishapen. If you're going to follow a trend, you should at least be able to do it well!

I recommend sticking to the adorable mini desserts. Its become a bit of a tradition in my family to buy a bunch of mini cakes and tartes instead of a big birthday cake. You get to try a taste of everything and it actually turns out being fairly affordable.

This is a beautiful little bakery, with a great selection of fantastic looking baked goods. I have not tried enough of the baked goods to make a really good judgment on them, but I did try 6 flavors of gelati and they were all awful. They were overly sweet and each flavor tasted artificial. They all tasted like someone had added a couple bottles of flavor extract. Worst gelati in the city.

I was truly disappointed in the customer service I experienced here. And here I am 1 week later so disappointed that I have taken the time out of my day to write this. Last Friday I came into the shop, grabbed my things and while I was still looking around another customer came in. He took his time choosing his item and the cashier was helping him while he was picking his items. I patiently waited for him to finish his order. After about 8 minutes he was done. I thought since I was ready to pay before he finished picking his items the cashier will get me to pay first. It's obvious I was standing here before him and I only have one item. Instead, it was the exact opposite. She told him his total,he got to pay before me and she had a 10 minute conversation about how they deliver. She totally ignored that I was standing there before and had to wait even more. Not only is their customer service horrible, but every item I have ever had tasted like mold.

Stopped in today with a friend for coffee and a light brunch. The food was just tolerable, and took a long time, considering they just had to take off plastic wrap and microwave. My friend's meal was barely warm, though the taste was decent. Not great, just decent. Mine was hot, but ... meh! Not terrible. Not good. Price was decent, but I would rather pay more for good food. Service barely made acceptable. Any less would have been rude. AND ... No washroom. I asked and they basically said you don't have to have one if you only have a few tables. If they care that little for my comfort, I can care that little about ever going back.

I bought sugar free cookies three days ago and they ere mouldy! Disgusting. If it was an isolated incident it would be better, but this is the third time, and I am not buying here again.

Raspberry Cheesecake Brownie and the Blueberry Crumble are my go-to when I visit the bakery. My daughter picked up a chocolate covered cheesecake ball (unsure of it's name), and that was delicious as well! The Tia Maria is also very good, and from my personal preference, would not recommend the Shmoo. It's pure 95% icing and 5% cake. I have yet to try their Gelato, but will be doing so soon!
Rick
All their cakes and stuff look absolutely delicious, unfortunately they do not tast as good!! Actually tast quite the opposite!!

Ever since I went to France last spring I have been looking for good macarons in the city. I went to goodies today and I got mango, strawberry and tiramisu flavours. They were actually pretty good but they didn't have a huge selection of flavours which is understandable because they probably aren't that popular. I also got a fruit flan and it was also pretty good.
Intrepid Diner
I think this is the best bakery in the city. I have shopped here repeatedly over the years and I have never been disappointed with the experience or the quality of the treats I have bought. I believe they supply desserts to several restaurants throughout the city.

The place has a order counter and a couple of small tables for people to sit at. The display cases are filled with various items. They have tortes, cheesecakes, various Italian pastries such as cannoli, cinnamon buns, tarts and a selection of gelati.

I think my favourite is the red velvet cake, but I have bought several cakes from here. The red velvet has the slight flavour of cocoa along with terrific cream cheese icing. I have also enjoyed strawberry chocolate mousse cake, lemon chiffon cake, black forest cake, chocolate hazelnut cream cake and banana chocolate cake. They have always been fresh and very flavourful.

I have never had an issue with any of the counter staff. I am always plagued by indecision as to what I will order and I flip back and forth from one display case to the other trying to make up my mind. They have always been patient and cheerful while I have done this.

Prices for the individual sized treats run about $3-$4 a piece whereas a cake goes from approximately $30-$48. The most expensive are the large chocolate marquise cakes. I haven't tried one of those...yet.

I see no reason to stop coming back to this place.

Horrible tasting cakes. I went there to get a custom cake for a birthday and showed them a picture, looking nothing like the picture and on top of that tasted horrible. There was no cake and more icing. Everythig was mushed together when we cut the cake. We ended up theowing the whole thing out because it was so bad. $75 down the drain. I do not reccomend goodies bakery to anyone.

Weekend treats. I have had many lovely pastries from Goodies. I eat gluten free and there is a wonderful selection of pastries. I have found a wide selection of squares, cakes, pies and other pastries for guests and friends. I have never had unfriendly service although sometimes the bakery is very busy and it is difficult to know when people are ready to place their orders.
Conrad_16hp
Horrible customer service. I went there Good Friday April 03, 2015 between 10:40 or 10:45 in the morning. I came first prior to those i think partner a guy and a lady. Then i waited for the customer in front of me to finished and after their done. Even before i place my order the BRUNNETE LADY behind the counter tell the lady and a guy that you go ahead first before this gentleman. Then she asked the partner guy and a girl if they were there prior to me they cant answer because they knew i was there first. She is so discriminating and rude. It increase my blood pressure and i called goodies phone number and complaint about the brunnete girl behind the counter. She has no customer service. I dont know why she still there. She's so rough and rude.

$37, I'd expect a fresh cake, but the one we brought home was frozen. Stuck a probe in it and it was -8 C. Frozen buttercream for my birthday
Tai_youkai_west
Examine before you purchase. I went to Goodies a few years ago and was happy, but a more recent trip has made me more wary. The pastries that I bought were undercooked and some of the bagged bread had mould on it. No longer confident in the quality or the freshness of the pastries, I'm uncertain as to whether I'll go back.
Snoopsmckrunk
How we were treated was disappointing. Poor customer service. Completely rude. The brunette woman behind the counter was so rude to my friend (who is never been there before) and I, as I was paying she boxed our baked goods and was about to bag it, and I said we are probably going to eat in here and she can save herself a bag. She THEN continued to sigh heavily and take our goods out of the box and brought out to plastic plates to put on... I told her it's ok, to just leave our goods in the box she already placed because I wasn't going to finish what we bought immediately anyway. She SLAMMED the plastic plates in front of us, and was visibly annoyed. I couldn't believe my eyes I was so astonished, is this GOOD customer service!?

I am a long-time regular at Goodies, I usually get this wonderful older woman helping me at the counter (I always assumed she was part-owner), but today I took my friend there for the first time and the brunette woman made a terrible impression. I'm sorry but this was disappointing and unacceptable. We went there the evening of Sunday, March 15th.

I have been too Goodies twice now, a hidden gem for sure, love the deserts, there top notch to me, not overly sweet, love the variety and they are so creamy melt in your mouth good!!
Itztin_0511
Very tasty cake. We always come back here because of their cake even it's a little pricey but you get what you paid.
OinkOink
Alright.. The GF selection is pretty good and they have other things besides cakes (like pastas the last time I was there), the sweets were good but nothing to write home about. It's an OK price and definitely better than supermarket bakeries.

Yummy desserts

Love their Gluten Free Desserts. I went in December 2013 to pick up gluten free desserts for a dinner party. I picked up 4 different desserts and all of them were fantastic. I love going into this place, it is usually crowded and with a hassle and bustle feel. While I had to wait in line to be served, I didn't mind at all as the desserts are worth the wait.
Stephanie Behl
No Service Complaints Here. I am only writing this review because all of the recent reviews have been on poor customer service. I have been to Goodies 3 times in the past several months and never have I had any rude or poor service experiences and all 3 times I was helped in a quick and friendly manner.
As for the products, I LOVE the selection and wish I had found this place sooner. As someone who is crazy for sweets, I love how they have so many options of miniature desserts. It allows you to sample some of the fancier offerings without having to buy an entire cake. Prices are reasonable too. For one small dessert, which I would say is big enough for 1-2 people (depending on the type), it is between $3-$4.
My favorites so far include the Banana Cream Pie, Purple Yam Cake, and Cannolis.
As far as dessert selection goes, Goodies definitely has the largest I've seen with an endless array of cakes, squares, pies, pastries, cookies, cannolis, and savory items such as quiche and meat pies. They also appeared to have a good selection of gluten free items.
So based on my past few visits this year I definitely would recommend this bakery!

Disgusting customer service. I ordered a birthday cake brought it home and put it in the fridge. Later in the evening when I went to serve it at a birthday party I opened the box and was so embarrassed to see " happy birtday written on it. I called to let the know of their mistake only to be told people make mistakes and it surely didn't make a difference in the taste!! Their products are expensive and be would hope they would want to make their customers happy but I guess I was wrong. I will not be shopping there again and I have passed this on to many of my friends who do have things made there and they too will not return. Customer service still should be of utmost importance and it seems they just don't care. When I said I was displeased and that I would pass that around. I was told" we'll we will just have to live with that! So beware wedding cakes could be a disaster!!!!
Screwkie
Disgusting/horrible customer service. I went to this shop to order a theme cake for my kid...the woman I talked to has no CUSTOMER SERVICE at all!!! She was very arrogant and sarcastic...though I always go to this store for cakes this incident had definitely changed my mind...Though they have very good cakes I wouldn't exchange my dignity over this woman's tremendous attitude, very rude and arrogant.. Very discriminating as well! As I was telling her about ordering a "specialty cake"she heard and understood it differently but keeps on blubbing .. I was with my daughter and she was intently looking at me as I raised my voice because I was very pissed off...This woman should not be a front liner at all as lots of clients would leave the store very disgusted. She is a huge disappointment on a lovely weekend! Don't ever go there on a nice weekend coz it might be completely ruined after all.. Hope the owner/manager could look at his staff's behavior because that will definitely impact on their business..Dont ever go to this store if you are looking for a nice customer service...from a scale of 1-10... ZERO because of the D- -B, helper! Go find other cake store as this one is not worth patronizing at all!!!

Worst Service Ever!. I went to this restaurant over the weekend because I heard they had some diabetic friendly items on their menu. One of my family members was recently diagnosed so I thought this could be a nice treat. I was shocked when I experienced such appalling, rude service from an elderly caucasion women from behind the counter. I had some questions about their diabetic menu ingredients as I wanted to make sure the food was safe. She answered in such an impatient and unhospitable manner as if she wasn't interested in helping us make the right choice. My family member asked if there were any diabetic friendly drinks and she sounded exasperated when she answered "diet" drinks. I mean yes, these answers may be freaking obvious to you because you work here everyday... BUT we are customers...it is your job to tell us about what you have on your menu and answer our questions to help us make our food choices. We are not the bakers or are experts in the stuff you bake so I was really really shocked and annoyed with the way this woman spoke to me. Also my family wanted to sit down at the side tables to enjoy our desserts. When we told her this, she sounded frustrated that she had to transfer the desserts from the takeout boxes to plates. I mean what is the purpose of having 2-3 tables in your restaurant? Wouldn't you expect your patrons to dine there as well? Why is this so shocking to workers? Maybe she should clarify if the order was dine-in or take out like how every other place does and save your trouble of doing extra work? However the desserts were delicious to say the least! It is unfortunate they don't have good customer service because this little bakery could have been an amazing one!
Lovetodine
I had a terrible experience just yesterday and will NEVER be back. I would not suggest anyone to go here primarily because customer service was some of the worst I have ever experienced. i have never been treated the way i was treated yesterday and i think mannagemnt should really keep a closer eye on who they leave in charge of dealing with customers. i just hope that the person I was dealing with yesterday wasn't a manager because that would be even worse. also, the tiramisu tasted stale and was very dry in texture. But again, that was a minor complaint compared to the customer service I received.

Awesome dessert.. I had multiple cheesecakes from here and wow they are very rich, just like how it should be. Their cannoli's are a little too creamy for me? I don't like the filling much so I scraped half of it out. Other than that the cannoli (pistachio) was good! They have a gelato section as well but it is way too sweet for my liking.

Just eat their cheese cakes!
Diane
Alright!!!. I always drive by this place and I finally stopped and went in! Great selection of pastry and cake! Prices are about the same as every well else. I bought cheesecake, and a variety of different slices, they were all good, not great but good. I will give this place another try.
Yolanda Breton
We got the New York Strawberry Cheesecake. It costed more than $40 and initially I thought I would also need to I thaw some frozen berries to go with it. It looked very rich and I though more fruit would cut the richness a bit. I was surprised at how heavy the cake was. It is a VERY solid cake. It was absolutely amazing and we didn't need more berries. The strawberries were enough. Half the cake served10 people small- medium slices. It is a lot of cake. You will not be disappointed. I want to go back with the kids and let them pick individual deserts. They are a reasonable price ($3-4) and the selection is huge. We will be back.
Kraxxx
One of everything please.. Love this place. Love the cakes. Love the gelati. Love the apple jacks !Everything is awesome and they have a huge selection of items to choose from so you really can't go wrong.
Buddy Elf.
Best imperial cookie in the city! The raspberry filling is fresh, the cookies are soft and flakey and delicious! This bakery is definitely one of of not the best in Winnipeg! They also have some dairy free options! Yum!!!
Davi
U get what you pay for. Delicious desserts & varity. Really enjoyed these cappucino chocolate cups & the tiramisu. They look beautiful as well. Will be back for sure!
Arleen Van Dim
This bakery has great prices, delicious treats and great staff. I highly recommend the tiramisu!

Perfect place to pick up decadent desserts. Crazy variety, amazing consistency, and absolutely worth every penny. They have generous hours so you can always pick something up on a whim!

Horrible Service.. I have always been a loyal customer to Goodies, despite incidents of finding mould in a birthday cake, and plastic in a bakery dessert on separate occassions. I called goodies for a custom cake { as they do advertise on their website} and as I began to tell the man what I required for the birthday cake, he interrupted me and told me "just come in and pick a cake, we have lots in the fridge." I felt as though they didn't want my business, but went in to attempt again to order a custom cake. I was the only customer in the store on the Sunday when I went in, and as I began to tell the woman behind the counter what I needed, she asked me " Do our cakes offend you in some way? If you need something special, why not just get chocolate, everyone like chocolate. I tried again to explain to her what specific kind of cake I wanted, and she sighed loudly and started writing the order. As I told her the details of the cake, she rolled her eyes each time I spoke. I had two bags of pasta in my hand to purchase and was also interested in buying a mini dessert from the fridge, but I told her to cancel the order. As I asked her to cancel the order, she looked as though she wanted to throw a cake in my face. No apologies, just disgusting customer service.
John
Yum!. Desserts are amazing!

Heaven. Goodies had been around for a long time now, and the quality of the various desserts remains high.

My addiction is the Pistachio Cannoli, which is crisp pastry, coated with a thin layer of chocolate and filled with perfect ricotta filling and a dusting of pistachio.

I recently picked up a variety of mini desserts for a family dinner and got rave reviews from everyone, including for the diabetic-friendly Chocolate Sin (made with Splenda), and the kid-friendly Wonka Pie (a mini banana peanut butter cream pie). I had a taste of the mini oreo cheesecake - knowing that cheesecake is often too heavy, but not this delight, which was light, airy and melted on my tongue.

The only disappointment I've had was when I picked up a full-sized white chocolate lemon poppy cake, which was far too mild for my tastes. The refreshing lemon flavour was too understated, making the over all flavour somewhat bland.
SoJ
Chocolate Pistachio Cake. The next time a discerning friend has a special event, I recommend picking up a chocolate pistachio cake from Goodies. Trust me. They have a Grand Marnier cake that I've been wanting to try, but the chocolate pistachio is just too good.

I would call the place an Italian fancy bakery, where they focus on elaborate, but good-tasting, pastries. They also have gelato, but I haven't tried that.

I wish people would quit busting out their windows!
