Review Sushi Kuni - Winnipeg

Scott Kempenich
Best sushi place in Winnipeg hands down. Been coming here for 6 years and won’t stop anytime soon. Only forgot to give them a review because I’m too busy eating.

My bakudan was full of tempura just as a filling. And then tuna was mixed with mayo. It was way too heavy and I didnt enjoy it for paying $15!! For just two bakudan rolls. not coming back

Love Sushi Kuni. St. Boniface resident for years and frequently dine in and take out. Excellent sushi and staff are super friendly. Was very child friendly when my kids were small. Highly recommend.

My friends and I had such a good time at this place. The food is high quality, the staff personnel and the owner are friendly. Thanks for adding value to our trip in Winnipeg. *we don't have photos. When you are having a great time, you forget about these kind of activities.

A quaint little restaurant just off the Stephenson Hwy. Near enough to The Forks & main St Boniface attractions. The server was attentive, despite being the only one on the floor. There were a lot of take-out orders coming through, but the chef seemed to prioritize well because we got our food at a desirable waiting time. The food itself was pretty good; normal rolls were fresh and straightforward. If you do go here, try at least one of their special rolls, because that is where they shine. They have one of the more creative and eye-catching plates of special rolls in town at this certain price range. SUSHI PIZZA: It had a really nice crust and the salmon worked really well with their sauce. I also can't complain about the overload of yam flakes on it because I love those DYNAMITE ROLL: Opted for the spicy dynamite and the shrimp tempura inside was nice and crunchy. Definitely more on the casual side and open environment.

I've eaten here more than once. It's a cute Korean run Japanese restaurant. The tuna gomae is a good deal with spinach, avocado and tuna. I was less impressed with the Tako kimchi, the portion felt smaller considering price compared to other places in the city. Presentation was nice though. I included a picture of one of their basic maki's as I think it's a sign of a good restaurant. The price was good for the amount of fish. The ramen soup was good even if it was made with what was reminiscent of instant noodles. I will continue to frequent this place now that I live around here. Will keep you up to date on it's food and may modify it's Stars to reflect it's growth. I noticed it was nominated for one of the best sushi place in the metro. They were asking for votes.

Very cute space. Great location and very polite staff. We had miso soup and wakame salad to start, then I had 3 veggie rolls and my sister that the bibimbap and the CSS roll. We both shared a pot of green tea. Pros : The wakame was excellent! Was a great taste and texture and beautiful plating. We both loved out main plates. For myself the veggie rolls could have had cream cheese as an option or even some spicy sauce dabbled on to the plate, but all in all it was tasty, and fresh. My sister absolutely loved bibimbap hot dish where the egg yolk ran into the dish once punctured. Her smoked salmon smelled so decadent and she said it was amazeballs. Less of a pro : The green tea was a tea bag, when buying tea in a restaurant I would expect it to be loose leaf and have that fresh full flavour. And the miso had a very gritty texture and more of a salty flavour than I would like to see in a miso. Also it would be nice to see a sushi place offer a gluten-free tempura option. Overall I would definitely go here again!

A year ago: In restaurant, food service was horrid. After being seated, it took about 20 minutes for a server to be assigned to us. At the time, there were only 2 other small tables and 2 servers on duty. After ordering, the wait time for food was about 35-40 minutes. However, the white dragon role was AMAZING. The quality of sushi was great. We then opted to use skip not to long after and was pleased.

Today: We used skip to order. We were extremely disappointed with service and taste. We ordered 3 special roles and only received 2. We called the restaurant and apparently they had forgotten to pack the last roll with our order and said the skip courier should have told us. We're kind of glad that they did forget because the sushi is subpar from what it use to be. We ordered an Alaskan roll (taste was not consistent throughout), a sea dragon roll (VERY fishy), and a T.N.T roll (not received). We will definitely not be returning.

I used to be a regular, going here to eat 2-3x/month. I found out over the summer that they have changed ownership and it honestly changed the quality, portions and prices of their food.

Before the new ownership, the quality was great; very little rice, a good portion/ratio of fish/meat to filler. Now it's all rice and filler. There's very little meat/ fish in the rolls.

As for portion, you can tell most of their rolls have decreased in size, probably because they're using less fish and tons of filler. I ordered a bento box just today. With old owners, the bento would have fresh ice berg lettuce w/ an amazing ginger dressing and a hand full of edamame beans. The new owners (today) used wilted ice berg lettuce and their ginger dressing was very chunky and had an opaque orange color. Also, they only served 10 edamame beans in the bento (yes, I actually counted!) which were covered in salt to the point where it looked very ashy.

The pricing is very different as it has drastically increased. When I first came here in 2013, the Sunomuno salad was $4.95 with a great portion. Just before the owners left (maybe spring 2017?), they increased it to $5.50, which is the price that you see on the menu currently on this website. The price on the menu today had increased to $6.50... The pricing for the Tuna and Salmon makis have increased from $3.50 to $4.95 as well.

Overall, I understand the inflation of the prices for the ingredients but what i don't understand is the changes in portions. The nigiris used to be cut to a decent thickness but now it's cut so thin that you can see through it and see the actual chunks of wasabi and rice grains.

If they only increased the price and did not change the portion sizes, I'd definitely understand and continue going there to eat. Don't get me wrong; they have great food but everything has changed so much that it isn't worth going here any more, in my opinion. If anyone finds out where the old owners/chefs are, please post it so we can follow them!

The best sushi in Winnipeg, in my opinion. But in the recent years they have become very pricey... That is why we just stopped going there. :(

The sushi is awesome here, i was a little let down last time but ill put that down to been busy. The rolls are delicious and flavorful. You can taste the freshness of the rice, not stale like other places in the city. Value is good as you definitely get what you pay for here.im picky about sushi and I find this is my best place for sushi in the city

Only two things that are a big put off
1) The place really, really needs proper ventilation. Feels like eyes are burning due to smoke in this restaurant.and has been like that on numerous occasions.
2) It is very small and only caters about 30 max.

Great sushi! The ambiance was a tad lacking, service is mediocre, but the sushi was great!
Of note is the Alaska Roll - I cannot recommend it highly enough. It was simply delicious; the cream sausage made it amazing.
Go try it!

After visiting most of the sushi restaurants in the city Sushi Kuni was one of the last on our lists and seemed to have pretty decent reviews.

We finally decided to come here for a nice sushi dinner. So we ordered a combination plate each and a few rolls to share. As well as some assorted tempura and a pot of green tea to share.

One of the rolls was the salmon bakudan. This was the smallest roll out of the rolls we ordered. The tiniest bakudan I've ever seen. Price was $6.50. Not worth the price whatsoever. I've had bigger bakudan rolls at every other restaurant and more often than not, it's cheaper or very similar in price.

Another roll was the TNT roll. Which was mediocre at best. Much better at Kenko Niwa on Corydon.

Another was the Kamikaze roll. Which was a giant roll. With lots of filling. But covered in a terrible unagi sauce. It literally tasted like rotten fish. We each had 1 piece of the roll and chucked it.

Other rolls included Dynamite, Yum Yum, Shitake Avocado, and California. All of which were good but nothing to write home about.

We also shared a shrimp and vegetable tempura which was probably the best part of the meal.

The green tea for 2 people was just a pot with the cheapest bulk green tea bag from Luckys Supermarket you could find. Most places are at least loose leaf.

All of this coming in at over $80.

Service was also sub par. No refill on our tea was offered.

The combination plate also included dessert. Which ended up being vanilla ice cream with chocolate nesquik poured over top.

And last but not least. One of the sushi "chefs" was coughing and sneezing all over the place and never once did I see him washing his hands.

I am sad about this overall experience as we both had such high expectations based on other reviews. I would pass on this place and go somewhere else next time for sure. Especially for the price we ended up paying. We will not be back.

Sarah
Sooooooooo good. Bank account hurts, i can't control myself!
Sashimi is very fresh.
Gomae sauce and wakame salad are delicious.

Small place and music is not so original but loving the food and staff.

For sure my go to sushi place. Best tempura calamari I've had in a sushi place! It's a small little hidden gem that was recommended to me by a friend, and I've gone to other places here and there, but found nothing else satisfied me like this place. Sushi is good, clean and tasty! Plus the complimentary ice cream you get after your meal is amazing! Super fluffy and rich, I cannot get enough.
Inga
I'd say the best sushis I've ever tried. I've been going to this restaurant for about 6 years now. Initially, 6 years ago, the prices were really good, but at some point they started to go up which was very frustrating for me, as it was the only sushi place I went to. Now, I go to other sushi restaurants more often than Sushi Kuni, less good and less expensive, but their sushis are still super delicious and from time to time, I come there again.
Talmai
We went there for dinner for the first time this past week. The sushi and sashimi were awesome ! It was all reasonably priced and the service was wonderful. It's a clean restaurant and we had a nice walk to the forks after dinner. This might be our new go to sushi place 😀

So I ordered from Sushi Kuni a couple weeks ago from skip the dishes, was craving some sushi and I wanted to try a different place. We got veggie tempura, shrimp tempura and I got tuna and salmon sashimi and my husband got a couple rolls. I have to say it was very good. So yesterday I had a craving for seafood and I thought of Sushi Kuni right away and I would be dining alone, so I ordered the veggie tempura and shrimp tempura and the same sashimi, it was wonderful, the pieces of fish were plump and tender and melted in my mouth just like it should. The tempura shrimp are big yet light and the veggie tempura has a great selection in it for veggies. I look forward to visiting the restaurant soon to try other things.

Finally went and ate in the restaurant last night for my birthday. I had called to see if I needed a reservation and she suggested I make one because it can be busy, so I did. Walked in and it wasnt busy at all. Waited for my friends to show up and we ordered, I got 9 pieces of sashimi, it was so good, big thick pieces of fish, so yummy! and I got shrimp tempura, veggie tempura and I wanted to try the calamari, it all came out fast and hot. Calamari wasnt what I thought it was going to be, it was sitting in a sauce so we had to eat it fast because it was becoming soggy. Everyone elses rolls came out fast except for my boyfriends, the waitress missed one roll and when he brought it up to her she seemed pissed off a bit. She was very pleasant, like she didnt want to be working. We were the last ones to leave, went to pay and they just seemed not interested in saying good bye and thank you, which I find to be rude, most sushi places the chefs will say thank you when you leave but they didnt. We dropped a 100$ alittle more smiles and a more welcoming atmosphere would be nice. Thats my only beef.
Sarah
I eat here probably once every couple weeks sometimes more and it's one of my favourite sushi places. It's such good quality sushi for an extremely good price
DN
Best dish we ordered was Agedashi Tofu. It was great. The Gomae Salad was also good. The gyoza skins were a bit tough but good flavour. The spicy salmon roll smelled quite fishy, and and suicide rolls were forgettable. Overall the food did not sing for me.
Laura J
My all-time favourite sushi place. The sushi is delicious, a great variety of rolls, lots to choose from, always fresh and never too greasy, or overpowering in anyway . The prices are very reasonable, honestly they could be as high the more expensive places like Wasabi, but you get great food for a great price. The service is always kind, friendly, and quick. The restaurant itself is sort of small, but lots of natural light from the big windows that over look Provencher. It is clean, and simple but nicely decorated. The chefs work at the sushi bar, so you can see that your food is being created in a clean environment. Whenever it's been awhile since I've eaten there, I am always blown away by how good it is, and I wonder why I ever order from other places. I recommend the Sue Roll, TNT Roll, Dragon Roll, and honestly anything else because it's all sooooooo tasty!

Best sushi in the city! Super fresh and tasty... Service was excellent and loved the free ice cream at the end of the meal. Was a great experience overall and we plan to return!

Best sushi I've ever had hands down. So fresh, so full of flavour, the staff and service is great and I always leave smiling! Thank you for the great food!

That was my review from 3years ago.

They have since gotten new owners or management and the quality of the food has gone way down. The spicy agedashi tofu was a staple of mine and done in traditional tempura batter. I ordered it last time and it was corn starch...absolutely disgusting. I don’t even like tofu normally and this was something I would order every time. I just want to know where the owners went and how I can get the amazing sushi back in my life!
LT
The staff is very friendly, the service is quick and you can't go wrong with the prices! I appreciate that the use of rice is very minimal in their rolls, however they do put in a lot of filling, such as cucumber, avocado and tempura bits. They aren't super generous on the actual meat filling in their rolls. I will return but only if I'm in the area. I wouldn't go out of my way to dine here.
CafeteriaFraiche
This is definitely our go to sushi spot! Great sushi and we're always surprised at how little is costs. Quick and friendly service. The only time we had a bit of a wait for food (and it wasn't a long wait at all) they brought us over an extra appetizer, which was very nice but not necessary. They also bring you ice cream at the end of your meal.
Kitten Around
Sushi was good and cheap but the service was disappointing. From the reviews, I had really high hopes for this place, but our waitress hardly cracked a smile. I had the yam roll and crunch roll, which were both very good. The yam had lots of filling and the crunch was also pretty good, but I've also had better. The restaurant is clean, open, and not too small which was nice. I tried this place as it was closer than another sushi place I recently discovered and love, but I'll likely stick to that restaurant and not come back to Sushi Kuni.
Arielle
Great sushi! I've been coming here since the restaurant opened and have never been disappointed. The service is always great and the prices are extremely reasonable.

This place is a gem! The sushi here tastes really good and at a nice price. As mentioned by others, the ratio to rice and filling is perfect. Also, the service is good. The environment is inviting, the chiefs take a moment to greet you when coming in or thank you on your way out. They also offer Korean dishes. You must try the Yakiudon (thick rice noodle stir fry), it is very tasty. Simple/traditional rolls are extremely affordable.A Salmon Maki is $2.95, the salmon isn't fishy or warm. You get quality for what you pay for compared to other sushi places. When you order take out, they provide you with chopsticks, a napkin, and soya sauce. They also provide you with ginger and wasabi in little containers that is separated from the sushi. They do not close in the middle of the day where most places do. So when you have your mid day sushi craving, it can be satisfied here. I highly recommend you give it a try, Both dine in and take out are available. I rated this place very high, keep in mind it is based on what you're paying and getting. This is not your high end sushi where every roll/dish will break your bank!

Really good sushi! Great rice to fish/filling ratio. Their nigiris are pretty great, I love their tuna nigiri - so much fish.

Their rolls are amazing too. Nicely seasoned rice, not too much rice, and texture is not mushy and gross. I really like their vegetarian rolls, often some vegetarian rolls lack filling... but not this place, because there is so much avocado and other goodies jam packed in the rolls. Have not much to say but this place on St. Boniface has a good reputation for a reason!
Serial Diner
Absolutely fabulous, I will return! Went for lunch on a Saturday afternoon, had the special as well as some squid to start. The squid was done in tempura and rivaled every where else that I have had calamari. This was different, it is Japanese, but it was great. Service was wonderful. Sushi to die for. if you haven't you must try this restaurant you will not be disappointed.
Dynamite!

Consistantly good. Each time I go it has been good. Service is fast and has a good selection. Lunch boxes are a good value- plenty of food.

We were just there for a late lunch.
Walked in and we where greeted with a warm smile.
Service was like we were guests at someone's home. Our order was prepared and presented by people who obviously love food.
A real treat!
Will be going back!
Cogito_ergo_sum44
Love this place. Been going to this place since its opened. Service is great and they are always happy to see us. We also bring our children and they always offer them a roll of some sort. Price is great and so is the quality of food.

Hidden gem.. My boyfriend and I have been going here for the past year and no where else for multiple reasons; consistent & great quality sushi, friendly service, reasonable prices and clean environment.

We always order a Sunomuno Salad (glass noodles and cucumbers in a tangy vinegarette with your choice of crab, shrimp or squid), Takoyaki (a dough ball with octopus in the center) and assorted nigiris and/or pieces of sashimi.

With any of their items with raw fish in them, you can expect to see a generous amount or large cuts *fresh* of fish. Often sushi restaurants use tons of cucumber or avocado (or any vegetable) as fillers but this place usually has a good raw fish to veggies ratio. And they also don't load your rolls up with sushi, which is great. Also, the servers are very kind and knowledgeable with the food on their menu.

Overall, this place is highly recommended! Delicious food, great service.

WOW!!!. For the past 7 years me and my boyfriend have frequented one sushi place. We have tried others, but have been so disappointed. My friends, though, asked if we could meet them at this place. We gave in. But wow, it will be a toss up between this place and our other! The rolls were fresh, the sushi was amazing. Everything tastes great. The service was pretty good. And we were surprised at the total in the end, much lower than anticipated. Oh AND it came with iced cream!

Excellent Quality & Selection. I was here last night on a whim after a meeting at the St Boniface Library in the same building around 8pm. I started with Goma Ae which was perfectly cooked spinach in a very tasty sesame sauce; the portion was very generous. I then tried the Agedasi Tofu which they offer spicy and this was another winner with lovely crisped wedges of tofu in a slightly sweet yet spicy dashi broth. I was impressed. I also ordered the Avocado Shiitake roll and the Killer Tuna. roll. Both were flavourful with great presentations. I was amazed at the amount of tuna in the Killer Tuna roll with tuna inside, layered on top, then yet more minced in sauce on top of that and all for only $12.95. It wasn't all full of cucumber filler which was a nice surprize ! At the end of my meal I received a complimentary dish of ice cream I wasn't expecting so bonus !! Service was polite, friendly and prompt. I highly recommend you try Sushi Kuni next time you are in the St Boniface area.

Best service I've had in the longest time.. Not only is the food incredibly good and good value but this place has the best and most genuine service I've had for a very long time. Wasn't even wanting sushi tonight but glad I stumbled across this place. Completely out of the way for me but I'll be coming back regularly! Highest of recommendations!

Hidden gem. When I crave sushi, Sushi Kuni is the first place I think of. The sushi here is AMAZING and the cost is very reasonable compared to other sushi restaurants. It's simple, yet very flavourful, fresh, and perfect every time.
Kris Hodgson
Just a great experience. Food was soooo good. Very flavourful and the presentation was amazing. They even brought our 18 month old a little platter of diced mango and avocado free of charge! We will be back for sure.
Emily323
Sushi kuni is the best restaurant EVER.. Most of the menu of sushi kuni is so yummy (especially, Nigiri.)
Also, price is cheap compared with the other sushi restaurant.
server named sam is really kind and nice. he has always smiley face :D
anyway, you gotta go sushi kuni. k. bye.
The Oakwood Cafe
We go every week. Sushi Kuni has become our go to sushi place.... we go at least once a week! We love it. Everything is fresh and delicious and very very reasonable priced.

We strongly recommend!

Unexpected. Very VERY good Sushi. My fave in the city so far. Try the hockey puck roll... UNreal!
Martalan
Dinner party. We ordered for a holiday dinner party last evening and were very impressed with the quality and taste of the sushi. Great rolls, nigiri, superb presentation and enough for everyone. I will do this again - thank you!
Tim
Fantastic selection of unique delicious items plus a great set of intro dishes for the uninitiated! Best subomono in the city, chefs are always surprising patrons with creative freebies they are testing or judt for fun! In fact, this is one of the few sushi places that practices the art fully in the presentation and it shows. Service us always over the top attentive.
MelPoir
Brought my sushi-virgin boyfriend and it was a great way to introduce him this food :) delicious and fantastic service!
Shera Starr
Yummy food, extremely friendly, exceptional service. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive, the chef made sure to ask how our food was. On top of that they gave us ice cream. Would go back merely for the fact that these were exceptional people that made the experience that much better.

Good sushi place in St. B. Not many options for sushi if you're in St. Boniface so I was happily surprised by how good Sushi Kuni is. They are located at the foot of the Provencher Bridge on the St. B side. I remember this place when it was a Tunisian restaurant several years back. I wasn't sure how busy this place would be but there's definitely a good following here. The bento lunch specials are pretty generous and are $7.95-$11.95 with a few options. I opted a ala carte and really enjoyed the crazy tuna roll (spicy tuna, cucumber, green onion and fish eggs) $5.95 - good rice texture and balance of flavours, portion size (not too big not too small) with srricha sauce. Yum. I would order this roll again. The salmon nigiri was $3.95 for two pieces and tasted decent though not the best I've had but it was good. The maguro gomae was the only disappointing item at $6.95 - the portion size was generous but there was just too much sauce which was too overwhelming.

Best part is you get a scoop of complimentary vanilla ice cream with some chocolate drizzle at the end of your meal. I thought it was only for the bento box orders but I got one too! Nice.

Nice staff and fast service. The room is really open and airy. I'd definitely come back for lunch.
Matt
A new favourite spot!. Delicious sushi with a perfect balance of rice to massive amounts stuff inside. Fast service and reasonable prices. Every special roll we got was monstrous by comparison to some other places I've visited. Left ultra full and satisfied... even a complimentary dish of ice cream for dessert. Highly recommend.
Hailey Funk
Lovely Place. I took a big group here for my birthday and it was a great experience. Great food, pleasant atmosphere and reasonable prices.

Great Customer Service!. I love Sushi Kuni! The service is great, the food is delicious and you always get a little something extra. I definitely recommend!

Nice place for lunch. Sushi Kuni has great lunch deals, with lots of good food (salad, soup, edamane, tempura) for less then $10. Good clean enviorment, never busy, very friendly staff and free ice cream when the meal is done. Not the best sushi in the world but great deal for your money.
Tony Perioni
Read the reviews on urbanspoon and decided to take a chance... boy was it a great gamble! Not only were they super friendly the sushi was delicious for the price which was cheap only $32 for 3 descent rolls and an appetizer. Quiet and romantic.

After we ate we were getting up to leave and they surprised us with icecream!
Kati
Terrible food. All the rolls I ordered weren't good tasting at all. The rainbow roll especially was horrible. The fish didn't look fresh at all. Simply put, I will never go back and advise people to not waste their money.
Shaun
GREAT sushi, great price. I've been eating here for about 4 months now, once a week, this sushi is amazing!!! Huge rolls, amazing taste!!! Anyone who likes sushi HAS to try Kuni!!!!
Joanne Lieu
One of the best sushi restaurants I've tried in wpg!
Cam
Really yummy!
Derby
Great party food. I ordered two party platters that were delivered on time, looked beautiful, and tasted great. There were several interesting and creative combinations for the vegetarian option. Our guests were all impressed. The staff went out of their way to make this work for me. I'll definitely do this again.
Rosa
Excellent prices and fast, friendly service. Must try the crazy tuna roll!
Jae Man Lim
Awesome!!. I went to try this restaurant few days ago and had dinner with my friends. The owner and workers were extremely friendly. They seemed young and they knew and they made me and my friends very comfortable with their service and food. Also the price wasn't bad at all compared to other restaurants. If I live nearby, I'd visit it a lot more often.
JNT
I love this place. It has the best presentation. The staff is super nice. And there's hardly anyone in there so u get prompt service. The ocean crab roll and the catipillar is my favorite! Not the cheapest but very reasonable. I definAtely recommend this place!
Elissaerin
These guys are Awesome!! Always friendly and prompt, and the food is delicious. Under new management in the past couple of months, and I have nothing but good to say!!
Worldfamousmusic.net
Affordable, really good sushi (keep in mind, we are vegetarian). But we thought it was such good value last night, we're going back tonight. Server was very friendly - but the place was empty on a Friday night. I think if they dimmed the lights a little it would give the place less of a lunchroom atmosphere. Music could definitely be better. Altogether - wish there was a sushi joint in my hometown that was this cheap and good.
TasteTest
Very poor. Fish lpoked.... Very poor. Fish looked unappetizing. Sashimi was partially cooked on plate side likely due to hot plate. Server did not know menu. Ordered nigiri and got sashimi. When brought to her attention she said "you ordered nigiri" even though it was not nigiri. Would not eat there again nor would I recommend.
AJ
Disappointing. This restaurant is in a very convenient location for us, so we were excited to try it.

We got there and there were two other tables waiting for food, and three staff working. We ordered the sunomono salad and four rolls, as well as tea to drink - the prices seemed about average for sushi in Winnipeg.

The salad came out in 20 min. It was a solid 4/10 (below average to average). At this point our server realized we still hadn't gotten our tea, so he apologized and brought our tea in 5 min... Though the tea ended up being just hot water.

We then proceeded to wait for our rolls. After an hour and 15 minutes, no sign or word of what was taking so long, and only two other tables of people in the restaurant, we were getting a little impatient. We asked our server how much longer it would be, and were informed it would be at least another 15 min. So we paid for the salad and tea and left.

This is the only restaurant I have ever walked out of in my entire life.

Hopefully they figure out how to run a restaurant a little more efficiently, as again, the location is very convenient for us.
Bear7117
Great food. I have tried almost every roll they have to offer and found that they are all awesome. The food is always fresh and the service is fantastic. By far the best place for sushi I have found in the city so far
Dine
Great deal for bento. We only went there once for the first time. We ordered the Sushi Kuni bento, the portion is right, the price is right ($8.99), taste is good (not the best). The best thing is that the bento is available anytime. The server is so friendly.

We definitely want to come back again to try other dishes.
GK
Great service, but terrible food. The server was super friendly, and was helpful with answering the questions I had. Food was terrible. Shrimp tempura was too thin (too little on the tempura coating), too much rice on the rolls and nigiri sushi. Fish was not fresh, and was just not right. Way too expensive compare to what I get. I would never go back.
Haras1313
Great food, great service. The service was incredible, very attentive. Sushi was fresh and delicious, amazing presentation. Restaurant was clean. Overall an excellent experience.

I was pleasantly surprised with this Asian restaurant located on the French side of town. This was my first time visiting the restaurant as I don’t normally travel to this end of town. I was heading to the Festival du Voyageur with my sister and my two kid cousins (ages 12 and 14). Prior to the festival, we decided to go out for sushi and this restaurant, located conveniently at the corner of Provencher and Tache, came up on Urban Spoon and we decided to check it out. As we walked in, we were greeted immediately and courteously. It was about 6PM on a Saturday night and the restaurant wasn’t too busy so we were able to choose our table. All four of us were handed menus as the server went to the back to grab us waters and Chinese tea. I have to say, the most disappointing part of our meal had to be the tea. One of my cousins pointed out that it didn’t have any taste to it. She was right, it was practically just warm water. Dynamite roll without the spicy mayonnaise sauce.
