Review Evergreen Restaurant - Winnipeg

Hands down the best Chinese food I have had in Winnipeg, and maybe in my life! BBQ pork is amazing, deep fried shrimp, singapore vermicelli. I'm ordering this tomorrow just writing about it. Love it!!!

The only item I would eat on the menu is their CrIpsy roast pork. Other dishes are fine

The place is quite small. It would be better if you make reservation before you go. No private parking lot, but you can park in a street. Dishes are very tasty just a bit salty. Friendly and helpful service.

The BBQ Pork here is one of my favorite dishes. Highly recommended!

I like the Peking duck, one duck three ways to eat. The duck had a beautiful roasted look, and it's tasty.

This place was referred to me by a international hong kong student over 20 years ago and im glad this place is still here. Try the bbq dishes! The best

They know what they are doing and they are good at it. Closest thing I can get without commuting back to Hong Kong for the famous bbq duck / sidepork.

Ordered from Evergreen for the first time on Christmas Day as everything else in our area was closed. I didn't have high expectations but the food was sub par. The lemon chicken was gelatinous, and barely resembled chicken in texture and flavour. Same problem with the fried rice (more highly processed chicken). And everything we ordered had a very thick, gelatinous coating-not terribly appetizing. Definitely won't be back.

This is not fancy dining by any means. It's a bit of a hole in the wall - family run. They are best known for their Chinese style BBQ meat dishes. They make all the typical Chinese food dishes but come beee for a big portion of char siu (BBQ pork) and the streamed chicken with the delicious ginger sauce. You can get half and half like I did and I think they just add $1 or $2 for that. Think my generous portion of half BBQ pork and steamed chicken with rice was about $13. I split it over two dinners. The BBQ pork is slightly sweeter than others but moist and so good. The steamed chicken was succulent and so addictive with the ginger sauce (ask for some extra). Service was nice and friendly.

This place has a pretty good selection of Chinese BBQ meat items. I always thought this was a takeout place and I was actually really surprised that dine in was also available at Evergreen. The restaurant is small and I see eight table tops.

The items are tasty. The BBQ pork was perfectly cooked. The duck was a tad dry, but well seasoned.

What didn't impress me was the cost of the items. Some BBQ items cost nearly double what it costs at other Asian supermarkets. Despite the food being good, it wasn't nearly worth the additional cost.

Came here because I was in the area and it was walking distance. Small place on pembina, pretty quiet during the day but noticed several of people in the area do pick up. Went with the bbq duck just to try. Duck is tougher in texture, but it was cooked well. I will say it was pretty simple and somewhat bland even with the gravy on top. Not a dish I would order from here if I were to return. Also tried the curry noodles because I absolutely love noodles, and think they were okay. Nothing stood out to me, it was all very simple but at least prices were okay.

Evergreen Restaurant delivered some of the best Chinese style roast meats in the city. And while the restaurant's decor and presentation of each dish could be improved, the flavour is ultimately authentic and the portions reasonable. Worth a visit to treat anyone's itch for Chinese BBQ.

Chinese food. Small restaurant, but great food. Especially love the Singapore vermicelli noodles and BBQ pork. No frills decor, but friendly service! Definitely worth going back to try some more.

Evergreen. The food was awful. We ordered a few chicken dishes and the meat was atrocious. The spring rolls have been re-fried many times and even the rice was barely passable. We will never go back to this place again.Get the food inspectors in.

First Off don't let the owners cheery exterior fool you. Wait until you see your bill......i have been too man Chinese food restaurants in Winnipeg and around the world....the quality is normal, portions are average, and prices are outrageously high......,Example : I ordered the BBQ rice noodle soup medium sized which was around nine dollars. When it came I got a small bowl with 6 small pieces
Of BBQ Pork ( no vegetables at all) . I then kindly asked for for some vegetables which was 2 dollars extra.... I got the vegetables .....Which turned out to be 3 small slices of carrot and 2 very tiny clumps of broccoli . ....with taxes my bill was just over 15.00. She will not only nickel and dime you on the vegetables but condiments as we'll.......being felt like I was conned or ripped off.... I checked4 different restaurants for the same dish.....the average price INCLUDING TAXES AND VEGETABLES was $9.25.......AND THAT WAS FOR LARGE BOWL........MY FRIENDs whom I was with where equally shocked at QUALITY/ PRICE /PORTION..... Enough Said

Cute little restaurant. I am not normally someone who is hugely adventerous and I don't go out of my way to try new restaurants, but after reading some reviews, I decided that my husband and I should go. I loved every minute of it. Great service, kind staff and the owner was such a nice lady! The food was good- first time trying duck and I fell in love with it!

I didn't like the duck. Way .... I didn't like the duck. over cooked. The chicken tasted burnt. The vegetables were mush. It was expensive for the amount received. The plus was the BBQ pork was excellent and their noodles in all dishes were very good. I have heard ppl rave about this place and am sorely disappointed. Would not go back.

I have been going to this place for years. 1. The food is very good.
2. Excellent service.
3. Cramped space but it's never super busy inside so that's ok.

The best Chinese Resto in Winnipeg. This is my husband and mine's extended kichen. My friends and I usually hold special lunches here. Our all-time favorite combination- duck and mushroom soup, mixed veggies with tofu and crispy fried chicken or side of pork! wow--definetely the best we have tasted in the city. their mussle and steamed fish are great too! It's like having a great dinner at home but with very delicious food.It feels like home becuase of the friendly service of Theresa and her children. Her husband/cook is the best cook in town!

Excellent Singapore noodles. Friendly service. I like the black bean beef with ho fan. My husband is OBSESSED with their pork and rice. Their singapore noodle (nice curry kick) is the nicest in the city.( I cannot stand though how they put sesame oil in their consume soup ) The owners are very nice and one time gave my daughter a chocolate bunny around easter. There are not many seats as it is a tiny restaurant, with limited decor. They have many regulars. They are child friendly. Apparently their BBQ pork is the best in the city, (my husband also agrees)and I know that other Chinese Restaurant owners even buy their pork from Evergreen for their own enjoyment.

This is one of the best places for Chinese food! There have been a couple times where I think it could've been microwaved though so sometimes it was a hit and miss for me. The owner is the sweetest little thing:)

Best BBQ duck and pork in Winnipeg. Evergreen offers one of a few great tasting BBQ Duck and Pork in Winnipeg. It's a small, quaint little place that seats no more than 24 but offers some of the best homemade food. The BBQ duck and BBQ Pork or "Char siu" is a must! Anyone passing by Winnipeg should drop in this restaurant.

A little "home" in the prairie. This restaurant is small, but the food is excellent. The service is the best & extreemely friendly. It is like going "home".

The BBQ side pork, BBQ duck, & BBQ pork are the best in Winnipeg (according to my opinion). We also like deep fried tofu in black bean sauce, deep fried oyster, & kaylan.

Great Food Great Experience. I stopped in to order take-out and my daughter picked it up at our desired time. Great warm friendly service. Helped me order some great dishes. The lemon chicken was moist and succulent and real chicken breast to the surprise of my college daughter. The pork was just as good and lots of it. And the Cantonese Chow Mein was as good as it could be. I found Evergreen Chinese on the internet and this was my first meal with them. My children and I know we are going back. Thanks Evergreen for the great take-out food! You made our birthday party be its best.

Decades of Amazing Food. I have been going here for twenty years, since I was a toddler. Food is incredible, isnt greasy at all. They specialize in barbequed food, and they truly are excellent. The owner Teresa is very friendly, and gives free bamboo calendars to the children who come in. One of the top three best Chinese restaurants in the city.

Great!. Great hole in the wall chinese place. BBQ pork is excellent, good won-ton soup, good versions of all the standard north american style chinese fare. Prices are reasonable.
