Review Jimmy The Greek - Winnipeg

Just skip it, this used to be my favorite place to grab a pita and greek salad now it’s the worst I have ever tasted. I should have known better when I couldn’t understand the girl serving customers who was too busy talking with her associate. Then arguing with the customer ahead of me that she didn’t order what she ordered. Salad 3 cucumber slices 2 tomato slices 4 pieces of onion, they literally counted them slathered sauce and sprinkled 1tsp feta asked for extra paid for 1/2 tsp more. What lettuce there was is now soggy just no let’s try the Pita it can’t be worse can it oh yes it can. Pita with what I can only hope was chicken not sure as it was soaking in what appeared to be water with spices sprinkled on top. The chicken was water saturated no flavor whatsoever soaked in sauce 1 slice tomato 2 pieces of onion. Entire Pita was soggy from the soaked chicken tossed as well…

Today I had the side of chicken souvlaki and a side of calamari. They were both delicious!!! I will have it again for sure. The side of calamari does not come with tomatoes, lettuce and tzatziki sauce but for a small added fee I'm sure you can get it. The portions were a great value for the price, I was not disappointed. And the staff were so helpful and courteous, very sweet people 😊. Thank-you so much I will be back again. 👍!!

Used to be my favourite go to place in the mall. Must be new owners because my chicken was tasteless and dried out. Huge disappointment. Good things never last.

Skip it.... Waste of money..... Tasteless.... used to be my favorite place now it’s the worst I have ever tasted. Ordered Slovaski wrap, what a wrap! 🤯🤔

Jimmy the Greek sucks. It used to be my favourite place to eat in the mall. Not anymore. The prices have become higher and the quality of the food as gone down the tubes. I ordered their chicken souvlaki meal. The rice was tasteless not like before. The lettuce was very hard to eat and was not fresh. They also skimp you on olives and tomatoes, counting how much they put on your plate. The chicken souvlaki was a huge disappointment. It looked like they just served it immediately without grilling it for a longer time. A total disappointment. Jimmy the Greek has lost my business.

My favorite place on the food court at St Vital Park. Loved it since tried it for the first time 10 years ago when I just arrive to Canada. Staff is always friendly. Food quality is always great and same taste. Prefect combo for someone who hates anything spicy and trying new foods, especially when hangry haha

Great place for delicious greek style food.

I was at the mall and stopped in here for a Greek food. This is one of those franchise restaurants based in Alberta. I ordered for the chicken souvlaki and was alright. Huge serving though. Nice friendly staff.

Hair in food today and no refund offered....just more food. Why would we want more food when we were so disgusted from the first order? What's worst is the one we complained to appeared to be the owner. If he was working for someone as a restaurant manager he would not have a job with that response......... how is that acceptable for an owner?

Worst gyro I have ever had. There was no sauce it was thrown together with carrots and cucumbers which I've never had on a gyro. My uncle is Greek and I've had quite a few gyros in my life this was by far the worst. The lady that helped me was also extremely rude and pushed my tray at me pushing me to leave. Go down where else for good Greek food anywhere but here.

I love Greek food ! Their gyros and Taziki sauce are great ! Their is never a line so no wait is needed for food. My go to eating spot when I'm shopping

What the.... Gyros are supposed to be caramelized lamb blend fresh sliced off a roasting spit...not pre-sliced soaking in a tub of hot water for days! The soggy slop soaks through the almost raw pita creating a sick doughy mess they then slather with bland commercial dressing and slap on a plate with a 'gimme da money and get lost' attitude...if anyone thinks this is good Greek food in a city as full of excellent Greek places like Winnipeg you really need to get out more.

Fresh salad, but chicken is salty. I was impressed they put most of the salad ingredients together when you order - super fresh. Chicken seems to be that salt - injected stuff you can get cheaper at the grocery store. Good flavour. Still a better meal than what else you can get at the mall.

Great, fast, cheap food. When I worked at the mall a few years ago, my usual lunch was a veggie platter from Jimmy The Greek (not having meat makes the dish even more affordable). The lemon potatoes are heavenly, and the tzatziki sauce is the runny kind that can coat the rice and mix with the salad dressing for some extra intrigue. Service was always friendly and fast. Still my number 1 pick when I visit St. V!

Best in St. Vital food court!. I sometimes drive across town to St. Vital center just to have a platter from Jimmy. I really appreciate how he remembers me even though I don't visit as often as I like. Very well done menu from top to bottom and wonderful restauranteurs regardless of the fact they're located in the mall. They really bring food court quality and standards to a new level and I have no doubt they'd flourish in their own setting. I recommend everything on their menu as I've pretty well had most all of it! :)

Great option in St. Vital Mall. For mall food, Jimmy the Greek delivers. I got the gyro dinner plate which really fills you up, and is enough for leftovers later. A generous portion of meat (the gyro is a bit salty though) and lots of carbs like rice and potatoes. Their Greek salad is pretty tasty, and overall the dinner was inexpensive at $11 including a drink if you consider the portions are gigantic.

I still prefer Opa for the Greek mall food, but if you're in St. Vital this place is good too if you want to skip the burger and fries.

Tried it once... And kept going back for more! For 'mall food', Jimmy the Greek goes above and beyond whats expected. The first time I got food from here, I got the chicken souvlaki on a pita with salad. Chicken was cooked and seasoned to perfection, vegetables were crisp and clean. Overall a delicious meal. When I went a week later on my break, I got the chicken souvlaki dinner. It's a chicken skewer, with greek salad, a heaping amount of rice, and lemon potatoes.
Needless to say, I was sharing my meal with my co-workers because the portion was so big and simply delicious. The chicken was perfect, yet again. The rice was flavourful and packed with peas and carrots. The potatoes had a lemon flavour, but weren't overwhelming. The salad was great as usual, I loved the fact that they ask you what you want on it.

The service here is great, the only barrier is that the man who usually works the food bar has a very thick accent, and talks very fast. He began conversing with me one day, since i've become a regular, and I found it very difficult to keep up. Even though this poses as a barrier, he is still thoroughly friendly and pleasant.

Good but a little greasy. Located in the St. Vital food court, I had to try it because there's something about chicken souvlaki that always entices me. The chicken souvlaki dinner is $8.96 after tax - a great deal for the amount of food you get! You one big skewer of chicken souvlaki, Greek salad, potatoes, rice and taziki. It's quite the massive lunch I picked up. I like that the souvlaki is on metal skewers and is taken off the skewer for your meal. I'm not a fan of places that use bamboo skewer because it's hard to get the meat off sometimes.

The chicken is very juicy and flavourful. The rice is delicious and well seasoned but it was also quite greasy from all the oil they used. The potatoes which I expect to be lemon potatoes didn't have a strong lemon taste to it. they were cooked perfectly but not what I expected in terms of flavour. The "Greek" salad and I use that loosely as it's not a traditional one has lettuce, red onions, tomatoes, cucumber and feta with some creamy white dressing. The dressing is okay, I prefer more tang and am more accustomed to the more common oil based dressing.
