I have no idea what genuine Mexican taco taste like as I've never been to Mexico but if there's one that stands out from all the rest as far as Winnipeg is concerned hands down it's Qdoba. this food haven has given a breath of fresh air to tacos, burrito, nachos, etc. and price won't break the bank.
Food was tasty. Service also. We will return to this place.
Very good as always and the right price , coupon in show n save book !!
Qdoba is a Mexican fast food chain that the inside is quite similar to Pita Pit/Subway. You put in your order at the beginning of the line, then you go down the line to pick out the type of sauce, protein, veggies you would like on your meal. Qdoba serves the classic Mexican food, ie Burritos, Tacos, Quesadilla and etc. The food is definitely better than Taco Del Mar, however, you're also paying for it.
First time, definitely not the last! Everything was fantastic, and diet Barq's on tap! Huge selection of soft drinks. Huge selection of choices, and everything tastes so good. Biggest problem is choosing....
3 words, yummy huge burrito. Everything tasted fresh and the only thing I didn't like was the choice of sauces, cheese or BBQ is what they had, I asked for a little of the BBQ and got what seemed like a lot, either way it was still tasty and I demolished it. I would also of liked if they had put in a press or something just to heat it throughout and seal it a bit.
We really enjoyed our tacos! Service was good, nothing to rave about but no complaints. We had the Drunken Yardbird, Mad Rancher, Two Timer, And the Triple Threat. All were very good, not authentic by any means but delicious. All ingredients were fresh and you have a choice of corn or flour tortillas. Serving quantity was very fair for the price and protein ratio was better than most taco joints. I would recommend this establishment without hesitation!
Great food. Large portions. Great prices. I would eat there everyday if I could without gaining weight lol I highly recommend their taco bowls and adding all toppings. Amazed how well they pack the bowl!
Been coming regularly to the Ellice Qdoba since it opened. Was there today again. Food is tasty & consistent but service is not. Staff were scrambling to put together a catering order that a gentleman was picking up while leaving a long line of customers waiting and unacknowledged. Staff being friendly and helpful is always hit & miss and sometimes they make you feel like you're burdening them. Especially if you ask a question! I only come back for the food when I'm feeling like a quick Mexican fix.
Visited the Qdoba on Kenaston. First time there and I was impressed. Service was very prompt and very friendly. The guy behind the counter was making suggestions for my burrito, and it is delicious!
I love how everything is fresh and made in house. Burrito was $11, and I'm pretty sure it weighs 2 pounds, so good bang for your buck. The chicken is soo good.
Can't wait to go back!
First and foremost this is a fast food chain but comparing apples to apples this place is one of favourites for a quick, relatively cheap and reliable tasting meal. I love that they don't nickel and dime you for every topping. Guacamole, cheese, queso, fajita veggies are all included in the price. It's not the best food out there for you but it isn't the worst by a long shot. It is staffed by teenagers mostly but I actually find service really good. Restaurant and bathroom are always pretty clean. Good vegetarian options but I do hope one day they add sofritos like thier US competitor chipoltes. If I am out by Polo this is a no brainier for me. Or if I am craving Mexican but don't want to go to a sit down restraint and wait for my food. And in my perfect world there would be a coca cola freestyle on every corner.
I like this food, so does my husband, he goes there every chance he gets! Their mexican gumbo is great, so is the queso burrito If yu like fast food n mexican, its the way to go👌
My husband, son and I recently went to the Qdoba restaurant on Kenaston. Our son loves this place, due to some great coupons we decided to try it out. We all had their three tacos for $11 - there is a variety of choice including vegetarian, we all mixed and matched. The way the counter staff put together the tacos reminded me of subway. In my opinion they tasted very good, I loved their soda machine.
Surprisingly one of the best Mexican restaurants I've been too. I had the taco salad and they packed it with all the fresh toppings. I also tried their nachos and that alone with their queso cheese was a hit!
This place actually has gotten better in my eyes recently. I had a smothered tequila mango burrito about a month ago and a shredded beef one last weekend and the flavours have seemed much more noticeable, enjoyable. Still not quite on par with Burrito Del Rio but good for what it is and less driving for me to get to.
Servers are usually pretty chipper. My only beef with this place is that I still don't really know what all the options for the burritos are so I feel like I am not taking full advantage of their offerings.
Pretty good. This is basically mexican subway. I'm an avid burrito eater and I frequent Burrito Del Rio T on a weekly basis. The only downfall there is that their selection is limited, which is one thing Qdoba has going for it. Lots of options whether it be toppings, meat, beans or sauces. Service was alright. I did have to ask for hot sauce instead of being asked which sauce I wanted with it, which I thought was weird because the person ahead of me had ordered the same thing and they did ask them. Definitely go over the menu provided near the front if you haven't been before, or at the very least check out the menu online before going in. They rush you through extremely fast especially during the lunch hour.
I tried the Spicy Tequila Mango smothered burrito, served in a takeaway bowl. The mango salsa was very good. The habanero hot sauce definitely could have been spicier but it gave it a nice kick. The tortilla was disappointing. The pulled pork was lackluster. Basically the bad outweighed the good on this one. EDIT: I came back with co-workers and had the mango salad (in a tortilla shell) - MUCH better than the burrito. I would go back for that one.
It wont replace my favourite burrito joint (BDRT), but I suppose it's an alternative to Subway for a quick lunch. If you're looking for a more authentic take on Latin cuisine, check out Mercadito Latino (which is about a 5 minute drive from Qdoba).
Really enjoyed my burrito bowl, which I had with shredded beef ($10.20). It was the closest thing that came to the one I had from Chipotle, which I missed having when I was in LA. (Note: I've also tried the burrito bowl at Burrito Del Rio Taqueria, which was good, but I felt Qdoba came closer to what I had at Chipotle.) I also ordered the chips and salsa ($3), which I found to be overly salty, and would most likely not order again.
Overall, I would definitely return again to get my fix for whenever I'm craving for a burrito bowl. I only wish they had another location down in the south end, as this location is to far from where I live.
I love lunch again!. We have been coming here since shortly after it opened and we love it! We have had consistently great service and great food. The Mexican goulash is my go-to comfort food now. If you are looking for a similar experience as you expect at taco bell, you won't have it here. If you're a fan of mass produced gruel with meaty type filling, maybe taco bell is a good fit for you. Who am I to tell you what great food tastes like. All I can say is that the authenticity of the people and delicious food will make you a qdoba fan forever. Quit embracing mediocrity. Come try something wonderfully different.
Very healthy fresh food. Can feed 3 for under $20. Didnt like the plastic cutlery/drinks & paper cups.
Keep it in perspective. How do you define quality? For me its based on the service received, the quality of food, the cleanliness of an establishment, the atmosphere and the attention to detail. Qdoba delivers on all these points on a regular basis and delivers it at a great value. Qdoba offers an average price for a menu item, comparable to most chains, and yet consistently outperforms most other chains on quality of product and flavour. There is an incredible amount of variety on the menu and yet the menu seems to maintain a cohesive flavour throughout, and trust me I've tried it all. If you're looking for fantastic tasting, fresh ingredients and a good value in a well maintained establishment with friendly knowledgeable staff then this is your place. Did I mention cervezas and Mexican soda!?
Ambiance of a fast-food restaurant. Food was all right.. I'm turned off by having to line up, cafeteria-style, to get food. I'd pay more to sit down and have table service. The food I had wasn't bad and I am interested in going back, but it's not high on my list of places to return to.
Not quite like the US version but good. I was anxious to try this restaurant as I enjoy it every time we go to the US. But as with Papa Murphys Canada Qdoba Canada is a little bit different than their US counterparts.
For one thing everything at Qdoba seems to be extra, why not raise the price just a tad so customers can choose from all items under the glass save for one or two. As it was it seemed to me that about half of the items were up charge items.
As was already stated in a previous post I too was disappointed that the tacos were not fresh made to order but store bought pre made shells instead.
Other than that the food was fresh and the service friendly and prompt.
I recommend Qdoba if you want a reasonable priced mexican meal.
It's alright. Food is filling enough but for the same price, you can enjoy a nice sit down meal in any of the upscale Mexican restaurants around Winnipeg without the fast food atmosphere. Went once so we can say we've been there, probably won't be back anytime soon.
Excellent fast food. Tried this chain for the first time in Fargo and really liked it. Love that there's one in the city now! It's located on Ellice Ave near the polo park area by the Winners and Jysk strip mall. This place recently opened and is very clean and spacious for a fast food joint.
They offer up tacos, burritos, quesadillas, soups and taco salads. Lots of fresh ingredients - much better than taco time or taco bell. There's grilled chicken, grilled steak, pulled pork, shredded beef and ground beef to choose from.
I usually get the "Craft Two" which is the best option if you're trying this place for the first time. For $8.59 you can select two of their most popular dishes: Mexican gumbo, nachos, two tacos (hard and/or soft with the various proteins mentioned), grilled quesadilla, naked taco salad, naked burrito and tortilla soup. Love the tortilla soup which the serve offered up adding salsa and a protein into it so I opted for the corn salsa and the chicken. The soup is spicy and tangy and just oh so good with great flavour. Went with the two tacos - the hard shell taco is not greasy and kept its shape pretty well and held the fillings in. The soft taco is a flour tortilla, not sure if they offer corn as I prefer corn tortillas. The grilled chicken had good flavour and the shredded beef was tender and juicy. You have 6 different salsas to choose from, the hottest one is the fiery habanero which had a decent heat to it. You get to add cheese, sour cream and lettuce on your tacos. So with the craft 2 and a drink my meal came to $12 total - very good and filling meal. For a fast food restaurant the food had great flavour and tasted pretty fresh and had much better value than a place like McDonalds.
Service was fast, efficient and friendly. Grab a qdoba rewards card (near the till) and sign up online and get free chips and salsa plus other rewards.
Very good burrito- and for 11 bucks, IT BETTER BE.
Went with. My stepdaughter... while the food wasn't bad. The burritos had more filler than meat. Same with the nachos. Good salsa, though. We'll stick to Burrito Splendido in the future, as I personally also prefer fresh made tortillas.
We liked it. A bit pricy for a fast food restaurant, but the food was pretty good. Better than the other Mexican fast food options in the city.
So Happy!. Finally!!!!
We've been waiting and waiting and waiting.... and this place does not disappoint. It's great to stop in on the fly have a quick burrito and go.
It's awesome!
Good luck!
Fantastic experience! A new favorite!. Went for lunch last week and loved it so much brought the whole office for lunch today. Food is fresh and tasty, burritos are huge and fully custom. There was as a small line both times we went but it moves VERY fast. Staff are friendly and helpful and the place in impressively clean. The owner or manager came out and asked us how everything was. Best part is watching them cooking and make ingredients as you eat. While we were there the girl was making guacamole from scratch and the manager was making salsa from scratch. In the back you can see the chef grilling meat and sauteing veg. Winnipeg needs more places like this!

Great Food, Fast and Friendly. Service and food was fantastic when we went. Just like it is when we go to the one in Grand Fork. This location is larger and nicer looking then Grand Forks and it looks like they are going to have a patio!
Where's the Cholula?. Food tasted good just like every other Qdoba I've been too. The staff was still a little shakey. The only real complaint I had was there was no Cholula just tabasco sauce.
Enjoyable. This Mexican quick serve concept has finally arrived in Winnipeg from the U.S. It is located in a strip mall at the corner of Ellice and Empress. I was anxious to try it as I have enjoyed eating at the Grand Forks and Fargo locations in North Dakota.
The place is fairly spacious. There are a number of tables and chairs along with a few booths. The chairs are not padded and the benches of the booths are not padded either. The backs on the booths do have some padding. The floor is tiled with brownish coloured tiles and the walls range from a reddish/brown to white. There are photos on the wall depicting Mexican culture as well as pictures of food preparation.
The restaurant operates on the same basis as Subway. You go up to the counter and place your order. They feature burritos, quesadillas and tacos. Prices range from $8-$10. The available fillings are steak, pulled pork, chicken and ground beef. There are five types of salsa and three types of sauces that you can choose from. To complete your entree, there are a variety of items like black beans, brown rice, cilantro lime rice, lettuce and the like. Your entree proceeds down an assembly line of employees who complete your order. You pay for the food at the cashier and go find a table. There is a beverage station that offers free refills. A nice touch is the availability of lemon and lime slices to add to your drink. They also serve beer for $4.50.
I had a grilled chicken burrito. The burrito itself is quite large. I thought that the cilantro lime rice was quite good. It had a good flavour and the rice was nice and fluffy. The other ingredients were fresh. The chicken was fairly moist, but not overly seasoned. I would have liked a bit more chicken. The large size of the burrito makes it easy to lose track of the main ingredient.
The servers were friendly and quite enthusiastic. The manager/owner came by each table to check on the customer. I always appreciate the gesture.
They also have a rewards program that you can join. You get a card from them, but have to activate it online.
Bottom line...I think this place has great potential in this city. We don't have a lot of good Mexican places. While it may be part of a fast food chain...I found the food to be reasonably priced and quite good. I will be back.
Food is always fresh and hot. Employees are nice. I recommend this place.
Best Shell salad with pulled Pork and mild Sauce!!!! 😋 I love it. Always, rich in flavors. Salad size is good for 2. Mango Jarritos is perfect match. Just perfect combination. Price fair. Also, fast delivery if you thinking order from work or home.
Went here twice in just last two days and had to review this one. They have amazing staff and all the ingredients are very very fresh and flavourful. At other places sometimes you can sense the shift in the attitude of the server when you ask to a thing or two on your bowl, not the case here!! Servings are generous and quality. I went there right before closing and they were running out of a few things, but they were totally polite about it and that matters a lot when dealing with customers. Over all 5 star for flavours and efforts!! Will definitely visit everytime I want Qdoba.

Love the queso. Like grabbing a quick bite here.
Edit: the steak is so bad and so chunky. My husband and I ate in the restaurant and both felt like steak. Big mistake. They need to chop it up and it is so chewy. Terrible. The chicken is better. I had to remove a star.
Qdoba is one of those cravings I need to satisfy once in a while. I’ve never ordered their bowls; I just stick with their burritos, especially the ones with the beef brisket base. Their toppings are pretty fresh and I love that they have things like fajita vegetables and cilantro. Pretty novel compared to other fast food vendors. Their nachos/ queso dip is also pretty delicious. This location also has one of those Coke fountain drink dispensers that let you add and mix/match flavours to your soda (e.g., lime, lemon, cherry flavour, etc.). Otherwise, pretty standard set up.
My job switched locations and I now come here at least once a week. The burrito bowls are basically my favourite food.
