Review Opa! Of Greece - Winnipeg

Love this place to eat my favorite Greek food ...Top 1 one Favorites list. A Must try . The employees are very Quick, and very friendly . Clean place .

Ops is mediocre, and the rice tastes exactly like uncle Ben’s rice at Walmart. Salad was small and you aren’t given much food in general. Chicken is plain and serves you 5 tiny pieces on a stick. Only thing out of my dish that was good was the pita bread. Jimmy the Greek all the way

Over priced, small portions for a Greek place, and at the end of the day it's a chain restaurant that isn't very good. Go to a local place that offers authentic Greek food and experience the flavours of Greece. If you want something fast, and over priced, eat here.

This is one of my favorite mall foods. Great salad and fresh battered calamari. Just perfect but wraps are Just ok and fries have Greek seasoning but nothing special.

The meal we ordered did not meet basic health safety standards. It did not jump out at me at first but, among 6 issues ( which were reported to their HO), the Caesar salad was premade, mixed with dressing, and sitting at room temperature. I became sick ill within 20 mins of eating, and then reflected on those details. I have not experienced this at an OPA before (Polo Park location). I cannot risk eating there again.

Food is delicious. I was expecting a bigger portion of food.

This rating is not a reflection of the food, but rather the management. Waited super long for my order today like many other customers before and after me. Why? Just a single staff out there serving everyone. She had to do everything by herself. We feel really bad for her. Plenty of other options have way less customers than you guys but have at least 2 staffs serving.

Currently says OPEN but they are Closed, both employees refused to look at me or answer when I asked what time they close. Didn't answer when I asked if there was another location nearby. Disrespectful. I just want some OPA!

The service at Polo Park better. Previous management just put tsatsiki sauce at the end of the wrap. Now they put sauce inside plus at the end of the wrap. Tastier.

Really bad customer services, I order souvlaki and salad, I ask what kind of meat can I choose. Employee Jessica said on the top! Before it’s my favourite, from now on I won’t come and will suggest my friend not come to for the bad services!

A nice quick place to grab a bite of Greek food. The calamari with fresh Caesar's salad was very good. Busy with big line up during lunch hours but service was fast. Won't hesitate trying other menu next time.

Tuesday I got the chance to hang out with some of my blogging buddies and try a new restaurant. This time we had been invited up to Opa! Souvlaki in Kenaston Common. This is the second Opa! Souvlaki in Winnipeg. The first which is about 5-6 years old is in Polo Park, while this location is approaching it’s first birthday. I’ve never visited either location, although my friend and ministry colleague Greg Glatz is a big fan of the Polo Park site.

Stopped in for a quick lunch and was impressed, I've never tried Opa! Tried Greek salad with chicken skewer and Caesar salad with calamari and both were very good. Service was fast!

Decent place to go if you're stuck eating in the food court. Being spoiled with so many trips to
Olympia Diner I have to take this at face value - a food court Greek place so I'll try not to be too critical.

Pros - they do falafels, although not the best quality, is nice. Opa fries are a greasy treat. Pitas have lots of topping. Tzatziki is definitely their own "spin" on tzatziki but tasty, especially for dipping your Opa fries. Calamari is shockingly pretty good. Greek salad is loaded with veggies. Service is very friendly and fast.

Cons- pita bread isn't really pita at all a thick dry-ish slab. Their version of feta isn't remotely feta, not really sure what it is. Souvlaki could be better and they could work on their souvlaki sauce as it's not very Greek tasting.

I love this place and it's the only place I eat when I'm in the mall. Last experience almost put me in the hospital though...I am recovering from an intestinal surgery and wanted good protein and fresh salad after shopping. The cashier made a mistake on what I asked for and the cook started to argue with me when I told him he was making the wrong thing. I'm pretty sure he put an extremely hot pepper in my salad. Now I love very spicy food but It was so hot and burned my stomach and intestinal system so badly I was up all night in extreme pain. Great food, great owners, but some very immature staff. Will only order now if those two staff members aren't working.

Good service.
Food is average.
Their best dish for me would be the Greek salad. Although now, I would prepare my own.

It's better than most of the restaurants in the food court. But between this and Jimmy the Greek, I'll choose the latter.

Worst Gyros. I don't know where all the positive reviews are coming from but it was truly horrible. The tzatziki sauce was salty and overly sour due to too much lemon, no garlic at all. It did taste real at all. The meat was cut in uniform size. They had a giant spit of the gyros meat revolving but no one ever cut any meat off of it that I could see. The vegetables were chopped to a ridiculous fine level. The bread or pita(if you want to call it pita), was dry and falling apart. A true wasted of money. Go to KFC in the food court, you probably will be more satisfied. Pure garbage!!!

The Best!. I love the people who work at this location. The owners are lively and engage their customers in fun conversation. The food is delicious. The don't hold back or cut corners. 5/5

Best place in food court. The best fast food ever!! It has healthy and tasty food.. It is a great fast food chain restaurant with a very friendly staff. The chicken wrap with whole wheat pita bread and greek salad for the side is my favorite plate, It is tasty and healthy too.. in winnipeg we have another one Opa souvlaki at kenaston near to wallmart..

I had to try this place after reading all the positive reviews. The service is friendly and the souvlaki and gyros looked great, but I came for the calamari and it was not only bad, but the worst I've ever had, very rubbery, and chewy, I threw most of it away. I Would have gotten more satisfaction giving $7.00 plus to a squeegee kid. Perhaps the souvlakis are better. I should have known, it's mall food. Maybe everyone who ate here and gave here and gave it a rave review only eat at malls or at Boston Pizzas, and think the Olive Garden is great Italian food. Not knowing what authentic is, because really this is not good food. I would consider retying it for the gyros. But only as a mall shopper desperate for something to eat. To go here just for the food is stupid. Finding parking, lining up and paying top dollar to sit in a noisy packed mall setting is not my idea of eating out. Don't go out of your way to eat here.

Very nice. My brother texted asking if i wanted a gyro. 20 mins later i had what could've been the best tzatziki sauce laden gyro I've ever had. Unlike some of the more negative reviews I opted for some jalapeno and onion on mine. Always a sucker for Greek food I thought I had tried everything Greek in Winnipeg that mattered, but we have a new contender now. I might actually have a reason to go inside Polo Park for once, too!

Ate dinner with a friend at Opa's. Tried the calamari for the first time. Usually skeptical on calamari at other restaurants, but not Opa! So crispy and and well seasoned! To die for!!!! The Greek salad. I don't usually like it cuz of too much dressing but this one was perfect! The Greek fries were amazingly flavorful! To finish was the baklava! It's good we got 2 slices, I didn't want to share! Next time I'm at Polo I'll be dining at Opa's!!!

I can't believe this place is in a food court! Got turned onto opa while I was in calgary. The quality is consistent and wonderful! Staff is super friendly, what's not to love? I hope they open a free standing location.
Always Hungry
Food I crave Every-Day. Such good food, I always crave for this every day. Excellent staff members, always readily making sure you leave with what you want, and they treat you like their friends. Their tzatziki sauce is AMAZING, food is such good quality for the price you pay. Your taste buds will be fulfilled!

Great Food!!!. I have been going to this opa for years now, and never been disapoined. the owner is always there and he is awesome and supper friendly. the employees are always happy and that makes the experience even better. I go into the city to visit this restaurant sometimes and go out of my way to go there!!!!

Best Gyros in WPG. Always freshly roasted, served with excellent tzatziki sauce. If they got their own building and put up some pictures of the Parthenon they could easily charge double as a four star restaurant.

Great Place in the Mall. Owners are always there! They are the nicest people and they love to chat to their customers. I have gone out of my way just to come here during my lunch.

If you are in the mall (or even if you are not) eat here!!!
Ernest Walker Cucheron
Great calamari! With real Greek salad this is the best mall food yet

Not so good.. I have taken a fancy to Greek food in the past bit. This place is definitely, NOT the best. I much prefer authentic Greek restaurants (In which we have a few). This place lacks good service, quality food, and manners. The employees need to SMILE. They need to realize that a paying customer is to be treated with RESPECT.
My first time eating here was amazing. The food was good, not great. And the staff were friendly.
Months later, I decided to have a second go. The staff looked like they had a gun held to their heads to cook the food. Seriously, smile a bit. It doesn't kill. I paid for my food, a chicken souvlaki pita, and then began to figure out.. WHERE THE HELL DO I STAND IN LINE? So, I stood on the left hand side. Because in Canada, we go left to right. (Not right to left.) An employee decides to then tell me I'm in the wrong place and I did not order any food if I am standing there. (Firstly, huh?) Who I assume is the manager laughs and then ridicules me before telling me where to stand. When my souvlaki is cooked, the man asks me what I want on my pita. I said 'No red onions or cucumbers'. In a smart ass tone, he goes 'So you want jalapenos then?' NO, I DON'T. Who the heck puts jalapenos on a chicken souvlaki pita? He then goes 'You don't want tomatoes or lettuce?' in the same, smart ass tone smirking the entire time.

Seriously. I have to FIGHT with an employee that I want a regular, chicken pita because he is a smart ass and is trying to put every ingredient on my pita that isn't meant to be on it.

TWO BIG THUMBS DOWN ON CUSTOMER SERVICE. Poor, poor customer service. The food is just OK. Jimmy the Greek in St. Vital is WAY better in food quality and service.

I recommend skipping this place and buying from Thai Express or New York Fries. (Yum). It's cheaper, better food and customer service.

Such friendly service, and the food is really good. Who knew frenchfries could be exciting, but theirs really are.

Food Court Favorite. Eat here almost every time I go to Polo Park mall. The pitas are huge, fresh, and flavorful. Not only do the staff perform fast service but they are also very welcoming and friendly, which is very surprising for a fast food outlet in a mall and I have experienced this on numerous occasions not just once. The Greek salad is of the traditional type (no lettuce) and loaded with tomatoes, onions, olives, cucumbers, and feta cheese. My favorite is their pita wraps. I have tried it with the gyros meat as well as the vegetarian version, which is a pita stuffed with tzaiki, lettuce, and the greek salad. While the side dishes are great they are not even necessary as one pita fills me right up. I also enjoy the option of having a whole wheat pita. With the exception of the tzaiki sauce, the offerings here are not only delicious but healthy too. Finally a fast food I can feel good about eating.

Best Greek food in the city.. It's funny how this place has one of the best Greek food ever... it's in a mall food court! This place is the best place to eat at Polo Park. The salad is fresh and tossed right in front of you, and the gyros are cooked in front of you too. No other place can make a gyro as good as these guys. I hate tomatoes but I love 'em in the greek salad. The cooks are pretty friendly too. Also, they have decent baklava. Their calamari is also excellent.

Nice people, good food. The owners are always on site, working, and serving customers. What impresses me the most, is every time I go there, they ask for my opinion, and for any suggestions to make the food or service better.

The food is great - I've had the souvlaki and gyros, with excellent Greek salads.
DineoutGal
My "go-to" food court place!. I love the food here - I think it's even better than some Greek restaurants. I mean for price, quality and convenience, you can't beat this place for a yummy Greek meal! The food is fresh and feels healthier than many other food court options. For $6-$9, you get plenty of great choices. My fav is the "Souvlaki Platter" ($9.50 after tax) - depending on my mood, I'll get the lamb or chicken - both are flavourful and juicy. You get one skewer, roasted lemon potatoes, rice, pita (white or whole wheat), tzatziki and salad (Greek or Caesar). You get a really generous portion of salad, I prefer the Greek with a nice tangy dressing and everything is just delicious. The pitas are just as good. And their calamari is surprisingly good too - crispy outside and tender inside.

And service is always really nice too! The guys who make your order are always so pleasant and funny as they make small talk with you as you wait.

Euros Meat. You would think the prices are expensive but its worth it. The Euros meat pita is amazing...
