This is the only place I've found in Winnipeg so far that offers almond milk as an option in their bubble tea, and you can get all the waffles made gluten free. :))
The food and tea is amazing! The portions are large and everything is fresh!
Excellent customer service and fantastic food.
Ok, so I totally overdid it here. I had the lunch special (chimichurri chicken waffle and a strawberry iced tea), and it was amazing. Light fluffy waffles, flavourful grilled chicken, crispy coleslaw, and a delicious chimichurri sauce. Definitely a good choice!
My sandwich was so good that I ordered a full coconut cream pie waffle for dessert. Wow. It was huge! And delicious! Order it... but maybe split it with someone.
The decor is nice, but simple. Friendly service.
I'm giving it a 5 because it is perfect for what I am looking for: a crispy waffle with fresh fruit and real whipped cream for under $10. I never order anything else.
The layout is very cute and cosy chic though it can feel a bit cramped sometimes. Despite this, it is still a great meeting place! Just maybe keep it to two people and don't invite the whole group chat lol. I LOVE their wide variety of loose leaf tea. It's so nice to go to a place and want to experiment and be surprised! This place is definitely a fun hideaway for cold days or a casual get together.
Had the Thai moment sandwich- very yummy, as well as a watermelon bubble tea with soy milk also very very good would definitely get it again. My only issue is its kind of dark in there and the windows are so so filthy. The floor looked like they have never been swept. Kind of a turn off when it's just an easy simple thing ever restaurant should do. Every Time I drive by the windows are dirty which makes it seem like they don't care about the appearance of the restaurant. Good food, good service, the guy working was all alone but he was pretty quick and very nice. Poor appearance.
Firstly I must say we enjoyed our food. Really hit the spot. I had the chicken Caesar sandwich which was delicious.
However, we had come in as a party of five for a late lunch and I must say it's not the best place to go if you are in a hurry.
There wasn't anyone in line before us but it took almost an hour to get all our orders. And even then my smoothie was wrong and a bubble tea was completely missed. It's a good thing we had gotten all our food in to-go containers or we would have been much later than we already were.
In short - delicious, but they need to invest in more blenders and waffle makers. When your entire food menu involves waffles and 2/3rds of your drinks involve blenders - you should invest in more than one of each appliance.
Cute and Artsy interiors . The waffle sandwich selections were good . I ordered the Thai Chicken waffle sandwich .. Had a tangy yet sweet taste . Pretty decent . Would visit again for sure .
I went here with my girlfriend. I ordered the caeser chicken waffle and had one of the teas with fruit juice. The waffle was delicious and I'm not even a tea guy and I liked my drink. The place was pretty pricy and came out to around $30 for our lunch. This place is now a once-in-a-while outing for us.
First experience was a decent one!
Menu of drinks was a bit overwhelming, but staff helped to narrow focus. Ordered a wafflewich with eggs, bacon, and cheese. Was really good! Eggs were perfectly runny :). Drinks can't complain! Lots of choice! Would return again to try new things!
One disappointing thing - the light fixtures are really neat, but look like they haven't been dusted in well over a month.
I can't believe I haven't tried this place sooner! I've been meaning to try this place for a long time and finally got the chance! I tried the very berry waffle and couldn't get enough of it! The waffles are a good size and come out crispy and warm. The batter was great, a hint of sweetness which was great and not too much with the whipped cream, ice cream and drizzled chocolate. It's a great area and vibe along with friendly staff. Great place to hit up for a snack and catch up session with friends.
so good!
I got the s'mores waffle and the one with the coconut tofu and it was so good! neat decor, good service, so yummy! and so filling! would definetly recommend
Coconut Almond latte will always keep me coming back! Absolutely amazing, topped with shredded coconut and among slivers. Also very tasty dessert waffles!
Only been here a few times. I like their waffles though, especially the savoury ones. The dessert ones seems ok as well but it tends to get soggy overtime esp. when you order the one with ice cream on top so you have to eat it fast. Their bubble tea is meh. I still have to try their tea though. Nice atmosphere though.
Love this place! The decor and atmosphere are very chill and they have a really great selection on their menu. I am a huge tea drinker so it's nice to have a place that offers a wide selection. I am not a fan of the nacho concept that they came up with. However the waffles are very good!
Very funky decor. Unusual menu, including: waffles, salads, bubble tea, regular tea and more. Not a "coffee house" as I had expected. Good service although slow. Free wifi. Lots of seating, including comfy couches and armchairs. Open late.
This used to be my regular hangout place. I order their vegan selections and all of them were good! Definitely a place to try if you love waffles and tea. I just hope the employees smiled more. Washrooms were awful like toilet paper was scattered on the floor and flush wouldn't properly work. I suggest using the bathroom at home before going here
Tea is extraordinary expensive but I can see why... The place is very interesting.....overall great place to enjoy a cup of tea and a waffle!
I've never eaten in the restaurant I have only done take out, but it's one of the best sandwhiches I have ever tasted. The waffle sandwhiches are to die for, and I would go back in a heart beat!
Good stuff.. Went last week or so on a date. First time I had a waffle sandwich and it was wonderful! Was pleased with it and the Latte I got wasn't bad. Dessert was good, but I couldn't finish !
This was my first visit. Tea was excellent! I had a Love tea, it comes with whipped cream, and is a green tea that is pink and perfectly sweet ( I asked for it to be less sweet and it was perfect, minus the whipped cream). The spicy chicken waffle was yummy and filling. It had cucumbers, tomatoes, cheese, sweet chilli sauce and grilled chicken warmed between two halves of perfect waffle. My companion had the dessert waffle which came with vanilla ice cream, fresh strawberries and blueberries smothered in whipped cream and chocolate sauce on top of a waffle. It was so big, she had to take some home! The Taro bubble tea was yummy; the best bubble tea is still at Asia city, in my opinion. :) The bathroom was clean. The chairs we sat on had crumbs all over them, and the table was a tiny bit sticky. The staff working we're pleasant and worked quickly during the lunch rush. They do bring the food to your table which was nice and deserves a little tip. We'll be back!
Tea story is a wonderful café with plenty of seating and an even more bountiful selection of Teas and delicious Waffles. I enjoyed my blueberry dessert waffle and my Tokyo Rose Tea. The ambience is very calming and the decorations are really modern fun. A great place to eat and hangout. Their playlist is so 2007 but that's what makes it awesome, it's totally throwback.
Glad I tried it! Accommodating staff, laid back atmosphere, tasty TEA!. This place was one of my major go to places to try out for 2014! I'm really pleased with my decision in coming to Tea Story for meeting up with an old high school mate to catch up and conduct a resume writing session.
For starters as I was waiting, I had the Long Island Strawberry Tea. It's got to be my favorite tea from Tea Story as the after taste in your mouth has that hint of strawberry! Unlike some other teas where once you've drink steeped green tea mixed with something it tastes very "green tea." Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy green tea, but when I try the other ones mixed with something I usually expect a good outcome of the flavor!
The second thing I've had during my visit since I could not resist was the Matcha Bubble Tea! Since matcha is one of my weaknesses in anything since I've had tried various Japanese Matcha treats in the past and 95% of the time usually anything with Matcha in it hasn't failed me yet! Tea Story's Matcha Bubble Tea tasted better than the first Matcha Bubble Tea I had from (another place I would not mention) because it was very smooth, and creamy with the distinct matcha flavor.
I really liked the staff as they were very patient, easy going, laid back, as well as friendly. I ended up buying myself 2 bags of loose teas (Long Island Green Tea and Green Apple Green Tea) to take on the road home as I am a steeper for teas!
Great first time experience, definitely a great place that is worth coming back to for those who really enjoy tea like I do. I shall try their food for my next visit and try out their other teas too!
Haven't been to Tea Story Cafe since it first opened and came in with a friend today. Had the banana split dessert waffle, which was quite tasty! The waffle had a nice crispiness on the outside which added a nice texture to the softness created from the bananas and ice cream. Perfect for my sweet tooth. I also got the real fruit mango bubble tea. The bubble tea itself was good, although I didn't care for the bubbles as much. Could just be from my pickiness. Overall really enjoyed my visit!
Loved the half-half dessert waffle and the pumpkin spice latte with whip cream. Good service.
The varieties of teas is astounding. The turkey gouda waffle sandwich was made with love ( soooo good! ). The interior decor is awesome! Egg chairs are very unique
Went today for late lunch, it was so good! Definitely would go back!
I love this place!!!. I've only been here twice, but it won't be long until I'm a regular. Tried a dessert waffle with peanut butter and bananas...delicious! When I have questions about the tea, the staff are always helpful and knowledgeable. The free refills are nice!
The atmosphere is great too. It's nice to see people of all ages enjoying this place...students studying, teenagers, families, etc.

Possibly my new hang out!. I love Tea Story. I'm a self-proclaimed tea addict, and I really enjoy all the options. Not only that, but every person I've ever talked to who works there, has never been less than super friendly with me. Attitude is a big thing, and the environment, music, food and servers all have a positive one!
Good Story. My gf and I ventured to Tea Story last week for a quick catchup and some tasty goods. Good prices. Tons of flavours of teas to choose from! Nice atmosphere to meet up with a friend for a casual r&r. Had a dessert waffle, but next time I go back, will try a savoury. Definitely satisfied with prices, atmosphere, service, and quality of food/tea!
Trendy decor, less then suave service. First off I do like this place... but if it is busy I'll be the first one to tell you to take a pass. They do not have the kitchen set up to handle big crowds and typically people go there to loiter over a pot of tea and like "cool hip tea drinkers" oh Osborn Village you are entertaining but not all that functional sometimes. That being said if you can tough out the wait or service issues and go when it is not busy you're in for a real treat. Both the sweet and savoury waffles are fresh and enjoyable
I wish they used a different spice profile in the sweet and savoury waffles because they use the same waffle recipe for both it comes off as a little bland... I mean if it was a sweet waffle they couldn't make it savoury as well, but a little bit of creative spicing of the batter would go a long way.
That being the picky foodie in me I do have to say the freshness and creative toppings will make up for an average waffle recipe. The tea selection is good with creative and fun names and the staff usually know tea fairly well if you have questions. The decor is entertaining to look at, and light years ahead of most spaces in Winnipeg. I've had a wonderful late breakfast where everything was served in a timely manner and I have also (no joke) waited 45 min for 2 "to go" cups of tea because they refused to make them at the same time as they were doing a waffle order... I timed it honest I was doing laundry across the street.
If you can get in when it's empty expect to enjoy yourself, but at the first sign of it being busy I would suggest going elsewhere it is a great place but they do have service issues on top of a difficult to work in kitchen space. It just makes for a stressful experience that leaves a blemish on the unique menu and vast tea selection.
Much Love

Fusion tea. Have been here quite often and very much enjoy their fusion tea. Have also tried many of the teas and most have been delicious (the pu'er tea was kinda nasty; personal preference obviously). Enjoyed a few flavours of bubble tea including avocado, red bean, and blueberry; all were well made and blended nicely.
I do have to agree with many of the comments regarding the speed of service; it is unbelievable slow given how simple many of the products seem to be. Also, you'd think that they'd focus on completion of things that have a short turnaround time (like tea and beverages; like their name states) but that hasn't been my experience.
I do go back because it's across the street from Peg City Yoga where I go daily and it's so amazing for a pre-/post-practice refreshment.
Yum. We went here for lunch on our way out of town. I ordered a dessert waffle, and we were told that the dessert waffle iron needed at least five minutes to warm up, since they had just opened. They made our iced fusion teas first--I had the kumquot iced fusion tea. Our waffles didn't take that long to get, even with the warning that it would be a while. There was a lot of whipped cream on the waffle as someone said, but I would have to say that it was great anyway, and I'm glad we went here. The dessert waffle has joined the ranks of dessert items worth going out of the way for--along with gelato and Japanese crepes (both of which are also in the same area).
DIABETICS, take note!. The staff is super-helpful: when they realized I was diabetic (because I'd requested no sugar at all in my iced tea), they went out of their way to suggest ways that they could make diabetic-friendly waffles for me, including a dessert waffle with fresh fruit, low-sugar batter and very little chocolate that was extremely yummy.
They did, however, accidentally make my iced tea with syrup on the first try, but after I clarified why I needed it without they apologized and quickly made me a new one perfectly plain.
Five stars for service! I'll definitely be going back again!
Impressive. My husband and I decided to visit "Tea Story" as a part of our Saturday night date. I wasn't sure where this place was, so I called ahead to get some information. The girl who answered the phone was friendly, helpful and did a good job of explaining the location, as well as where we could park.
When we arrived at the cafe we were immediately impressed by the trendy and upbeat atmosphere. The vibrant colors and creative layout made it a place you wanted to be. It struck me as a fusion between a happenin' place in Asia, and a packed out cafe in Montreal.
My husband ordered, "The Sweet Berries" waffle and I ordered, "On the Beach" waffle. Both waffles were cooked to perfection and were just the right temperature. The banana, kiwi, and strawberries on my waffle were juicy and ripe. The berry sauce on my husband's waffle tasted like a homemade treat from your Grandma. The tea we drank was called, "Dragon Pearl." It had a nice flavour and the candle under the pot kept it continuously warm.
The girls behind the counter were both courteous and professional. When I wasn't sure which tea to order, one of them pulled out a few different teas for me to smell. This was a smart move, as I became impressed with all the teas I smelled. Hence, now I want to revisit the cafe to try some of them.
I thought the price was very reasonable for the portion size and the quality of food. In addition, both our meals and the tea in the clear glass pot were visually appealing. As well, it only took a few minutes from the time we ordered, until we were both drooling with delight.
There are a few little things that could be improved upon which would take Tea Story from a Grade B restaurant to and A. The restaurant was clean, but it could have been spotless. My husband and I sat by the window, but I didn't want to rest my purse on the window sil, as it looked like it had not been wiped down in a while. The same is true for the floors. The plates which we received our meal upon were super funky, but we were given disposable plastic cutlery. What's with that? There was a poster on the window, featuring the tasty food, but it was held up with scotch tape. Are you kidding me? It seems to me like there has been a lot of time, energy, effort and heart, put into this little gem. I would hate to see it not succeed becuase of cutting corners on the little details.
All in all, this was a fantastic experience. The concept of tea and waffles is ingenious. It's a great place to go with friends or even on a first date (as the cafe will give you some things to talk about). My husband has the tastes of a king, and he was pleased, which means anyone should be
Eat here as often as i can, love every sandwich i've tried. Service can seem slow, but its not mcdonalds, theyre actually making you food. Bubble tea is great, used to hate tapi until i had theres. 9/10
An experience. Went to the tea story cafe one night on a Sunday night before a Jets game with the hubby. It took some major convincing to pry him away from the other sweet Osborne attractions (mainly Kawaii crepe) but we went.
What decor, retro-futuristic if those two words can even be combined. Really neat layout & furnishings. I saw a tee tray with a glass pot, candle & bowl of rock sugar & knew I wanted that. After making a fool of myself in an attempt to explain that that's what I wanted, I learned that thats how all the teas are served. I can't recall the name of the tea & tried. Something like a Japanese rose tea? Delicious. Real tea, you can open the pot & see the coarsely cut herbes & spices. The rock sugar gives extra sweetness & the candle stand to place the tea atop keeps it nice & hot. My husband had a bubble tea (our first-so we can't too much comment on whether the tapioca balls were right or not, but we found them good & the texture was not frozen/hard creating a very unique contract with the beverage). We each enjoyed a savoury & a sweet crepe which were OUT OF BOUNDS. The savoury was especially good as it came with dressing whereas the syrup on the sweet was maybe a bit too cavity inducing.
If I could change anything, it would be the size. The savoury crepes would be that much better if instead of cooking one crepe & cutting it in half to make a half sandwich, two creped were used & filled. I didn't leave filling full but I guess it's more of a snack place anyway.
Very excited to return.
Great. Great place for a date. Came here with my gf using the groupon, and have been back several times since. Tea and atmosphere are very good!
The waffle was fantastic, the fruit was fresh and they made it without the bananas for me. It was picture perfect and super tasty too!
The best part of our meal were the bubble teas. They were amongst the best we have tasted in Winnipeg. Definely on par with Asia City. They were nice & thick, not too sweet , great flavour(taro & young coconut) and you could taste the texture of real fruit. The pearls were nothing special ( slightly mushy BUT they were lightly brown sugared flavour which is nicer than unflavoured in my opinion) We also had 2 savory sandwiches- the cilantro chicken had nice Asian flavours. The steak sandwich was alright- main problem on both was the level of saltiness- the waffle itself seemed too salty as well . The waffle on top had a nice crispy texture unfortunately the bottom waffle had become soggily by the time they arrived at our table. The salads were disappointing - since when did Caeser salads have orange/ cheddar like cheese instead of Parmesan ? Overall we would come back for the drinks and maybe dessert but not try the sandwiches again. The atmosphere is nice, free wifi, and the service was decent.
It was good but pricey, 2 waffle sandwiches for about $17, expensive considering they weren't that big. Despite what people said the bubble tea wasn't bad!! My bf got some rose tea that tasted like nothing tho. Nice atmosphere . still can't get over how pricey it was, I can go Niko's and get me two larger meals for about the same price. But I'm satisfied :)
Fantastic! Tea Story is a wonderfully contemporary tea house with an impressive array of teas, bubble tea, and more. I was a little skeptical about a "savory" waffle (I had the steak) but I was pleasantly surprised. Delicious and filling! This has quickly become a fave hangout of mine.
Great lunch waffles. This place has some of the best waffle sandwiches in town. The Go Turkey Go and Chicken Caesar waffles are so good. One note though..they have recently changed the waffle recipe as mentioned to a softer style. After trying both I actually prefer the crunchier version on sandwiches. I hope that previous recipe can stay for the sandwiches. Maybe have it as an option?
Owner's response. Hi, all:
Thank you everyone for your feedback, as an owner of the tea story café, I wanted to address some of the comments/issues of the café:
1. Service time: We really try our best to stay on top of being a fast service café, and we continue to work on this. All the waffles are freshly make to order, the normal cooking time is around 3 - 5 minutes per waffle (plus a minute or two to bring it out for you). If there is a line up, it may take a bit longer. We apologise for any service delay and will try our best to improve it in the future.
2. Bubble tea: Thank you everyone who likes our bubble tea; we try to use the freshest fruit when possible to make our real fruit bubble tea very tasty. Our tapioca balls are freshly made everyday and fully cooked more than 30 minutes. Tapioca balls are sticky in nature, so when it they sit in an ice cold smoothie for a longer time, they become harder and tend to freeze; they are best when consumed quicker.
3. Interior: When we ordered the chairs, we didn't realize the fabric would get dirty this fast. The light color of the furniture also shows the dirt more readily. We are looking into a commercial furniture cleaning company right away and we will figure out a way to keep it cleaner.
We greatly value all your feedback, if you have any direct concerns, please feel free to e-mail me at teastory@hotmail.ca
Decent. I've only been to this place once, and i had a blueberry bubble tea. it wasn't the best, but it wasn't that bad. i really enjoyed sitting in the egg shaped chair, relaxing and listening to some good music. really great environment. i would like to back and try something different next time
Bubble tea and waffels !!. This little joint down on Osbourne is great. The waffles are delicious, not skimpy at all, topped with ice cream, whip cream, hazelnut spread, and of course a nice refreshing bubble tea to wash it down, nothing wrong with this place at all !!
Bubble tea!. Their Bubble Tea is great. I've had Watermelon and Blueberry, both great on the taste buds! Service was a little slow, but it was well worth the wait. The ingredients are fresh, and the staff are very friendly! They have free wifi, comfy atmosphere and the AC is refreshing!
I keep coming back, it's my crack. I absolutely adore this place. I've been there like half a dozen times and each time I like it more and more (and that's saying something!). My sister and I come in and usually get Berry Bounty, so yummy! Though, it's been pretty hot lately, so we haven't had a chance to get our fave drink - we've been getting our fix on "fusion tea."
The staff is super friendly and always helpful. The cute maid outfits are adorable!
Amazing herbal tea and dessert at the "Confusion Corner". A new tea cafe with nice decoration and a large selection of herbal tea. Great place for enjoying a cup of tea at the busiest intersection of winnipeg. I tried the premium Oolong tea, can't wait to buy a pack of tea to take home. Dessert waffle is cute and delicious, but it is a little too much for one person.
Dessert waffle is amazing. Heard good review from my friends, I decide to give it a try. This place is neat and funky, sells all kinds of tea, bubble tea and waffle. I like their bubble tea, but surprise me the most is the dessert waffle, I had one called "half-half" and it is a delicious combination of fresh fruit, ice cream and hot waffles, not overly sweet and very tasty, love it~!
Best bubble tea in town, love it~~. Great design and atmosphere, very trendy and colorful~~I have been here a few time, their real fruit bubble tea is Sooooo GOOD and Yummy, I have tried real fruit taro, mango, pineapple and strawberry so far, all very very good, love it!!!
Let me start by saying I love LoVe LOVE this place. I've been several times now and each time I order a different tea. So far, my favorite has been the Grapefruit Tea. However, when it comes to food it's pretty darned hard to stay low carb here. However, with the tea and the atmosphere being what it is, I'm willing to "settle" for a salad - in this case the Veggie Berry Salad. In fact, sadly the salad is the only decent low carb option when it comes to food. It would be easy to be tempted by the wide array of waffle sandwiches they offer. But if you're intent on keeping it relatively low carb (and I am), this salad has fresh strawberry, romaine lettuce, cucumber, tomato, spinach, and a raspberry dressing (which almost certainly has some amount of sugar in it). Granted, if you're on a very strict low carb regiment you should probably just stick to the tea. Find it on the map!
If I could give this place 10 stars I would! We ordered caramel tea, black tea and rooibos chai tea. The caramel tea tasted and smelled like dessert in a cup. Oolong tea and chai tea were full bodied and full of flavour. The tea were served in a HUGE cup so we had ALOT to savour.
Now where do I begin with the waffles! I ordered the chimichurri waffles and death by waffles. My friends ordered ceasar waffle and Banana cream waffle. To say they were simply delicious would be the understatement of the year. They were so full of flavour and stuffed full of delicious goodness. No skimping here! It's a steal for the cheap price! Chocolate waffle was good but oh my... You HAVE to try the banana cream one. Seriously anything you order from the menu is a HIT! Sadly the owner said he's not getting many customers which a SHAME! Please stop by there if you can. I promise you won't regret it!
A wonderful selection of brightly packaged teas. Organic, green and herbal teas and more are on offer. You can sit in and enjoy a savory or sweet waffle, bubble tea or chai latte. They sell teapots and cups as well. The staff are very helpful. I highly recommend going
i came in today with one other person and we both ordered the masala chai and a power tofu waffle sandwich! the tea came in a HUGE cup, which, for the cheap price, was a great deal. plus, it was some of the best masala chai i’ve had in winnipeg.
we were in there chit-chatting and enjoying our order for an hour and a half and the shop owner was perfectly pleasant. he is a sweetheart and gave us a delightful experience!
The breakfast waffles are incredible. Everything was made fresh, you can see them crack the eggs for the waffles right in front of you. The waffles have the perfect amount sweetness and saltiness. Highly recommend.
The place was spotless and the owner was very nice. The food was plentiful and very tasty. Will definitely be back and bring friends!
Adorable bubble tea and waffle restaurant! The drinks and food are both insanely delicious and the owner is incredibly sweet. There is hot tea and bubble tea, as well as breakfast and savoury waffle sandwiches and sweet dessert waffles. Local items for sale such as Villageopoly. Cute atmosphere.
