Poutine with grilled onions is the bees knees!!! Servers dont skip a beat and are very friendly
Happy Hour 3:00-6:00, was perfect on the sunny patio. Drinks and food $3.00 each. Really enjoyed it!
Was there with my hubby after work. Soooo busy! We had to sit at the bar, but that was fine. We were treated very well by the bartender. When he was busy, we were served by waitress...no waiting...😉
As always, the food was great, drinks flowed quickly, and we had a great time. Service was excellent. I think our waitress's name was Kaitlin? She was awesome!
Had an amazing Date Night there last night! Food was tasty, drinks were great and the service was spot on! We will definitely be back!
Great wings, the beer is cold and I like the atmosphere. The servers are great, always friendly and attentive.
Your butter chicken was excellent!! Waitress was great and love the patio!
Great Food , and My favorite beer Okanagon Black lager
I really enjoy the fish tacos. Really a joy to eat. But the menu has so many choices that you will definitely find something that satisfies your taste buds.
Great ambient, great service, great food and reasonable pricing! Even though OJ is separated into 2 sides: the restaurant and the bar, the whole facility is still 18+ so keep in mind that minors are not allowed. This location on Grant at Kenaston is much larger than one at St Vital. The atmosphere is cozy but chill. There are a few TVs and pool tables, and a patio that opens up during the summer. The food is excellent for how affordable they are! My girlfriends and I love going to OJ for a girls night out! My family and I also enjoy coming here for a casual lunch/dinner! OJ is a great place for all! Check it out if you've never been!
Original location and probably the best. As far as chain restaurants go they do it pretty good. Although the beer specials used to be better before the menu change, there are still good drink specials and it's a great place to slam back a few. This location also does the Sunday 5$ flatbread special the best, which we love to Hit up, along with $9 triples. The regular menu is extensive and has some good options. We like the drunken noodles, fish and chips and quinoa burger the best. Used to love the fish tacos until the menu cut the portion size to 2. Salmon burger is tasty but recent menu change made it overpriced for what you get. Recent menu change also took away the potato salad which was delicious and made other tasty sides more expensive. Portion sizes seem smaller. These changes are typical for a successful chain. Hopefully they don't continue down the path of nickle-diming for less quality.
Great burgers, appetizers and service.
For appetizers we tried the calamari that could have used a bit more seasoning and the lettuce wraps that were really good.
I had the Cajun burger which was good. My gf had a steak which wasn't the greatest seasoned and came a bit cold but they were quick to fix that through great service and apologized for the oversight.
All in all pretty good with a nice patio to boot. The servers were attentive and quick to respond. Wouldn't hesitate to go back.
Love going to OJ's for drinks, the lettuce wraps are my favourite, also they have a really good steak salad. Usually pretty busy in there but worth the wait!
I went in for lunch and had brunch instead. The restaurant was quiet and the server was very good. Brunch took a bit to come out but was good. I will be going back again to try more of the brunch menu
The Swizzle Styx had lunch here today and it was really, really great! The place has a great atmosphere and the service was outstanding. The menu has excellent variety, we dined on calamari (great!), the applewood salmon club with sweet potato fries and Caesar salad (pretty good), the lettuce wraps (very good) and the quesadillas (awesome!). The value for your money here is one of the best I've seen, we had trouble finishing our food and the prices are super reasonable. Even better, a glass of wine was $4...whaaaaaat?!! We will definitely be back, the patio looks like it will be fabulous on a nice summer day.
Dined here again on the patio!! Still awesome :)
Service is excellent and the food is pretty good. Tried eating with my 15yrs old daughter but its a bar? Confused, thought I had brought her there before. Anyways, great place to hang with friends and have a few appys and drinks.
I've never had a bad experience here. The food is always good and the service is always on point. This last visit, I ordered the lettuce wraps and they were very tasty! I wasn't aware that they offered brunch, it's good to know for future visits!
Love Original Joe's, my boyfriend and I's go to place when we don't know what we want. Fantastic brushetta, we get it every time we come and the portions are huge and I always go home with a second meal. Never had any issues with the food and have always enjoyed it now matter what I choose to get that day. Service is always good, usually fantastic, however not always perfect but what can you expect.
Been down here for a few wings nights! Great service, awesome beer selection. Huge fan of the speciality drinks that combined beer with liquor, for a unique taste.
Yummy tomato basil linguini
Excellent. Visiting from the east coast, the real east coast, not Toronto, stopped in for lunch. The food was excellent and the wait staff were very helpful and friendly. Top notch grup at a decent price, it's to bad we don't have one in the Halifax area.
We've been here numerous time and we love sitting at the patio. I've ordered the dynamite shrimps and enjoyed it very much while my friend ordered the lettuce wraps and loved it. Fast friendly service and ample parking. We'll try other menus next time.
Surprisingly good. Came here after a Bomber game and was pleasantly surprised. While the restaurant is yet another clone of the Moxies/Joeys/Earls type (complete with model waitresses) the food was surprisingly good and reasonably priced.
Both of us had the Sgt. Pepper burger and for $15 bucks you got a huge burger and two sides. Both opted for the fries and the caesar salad, which were both excellent.
Atmosphere was dark and cozy, although the place was packed. I've never been fond of the higher chairs for seating in the dining room - bar stools at high tables - but it was fine enough.
Waitress was pleasant and actually had brains, which is always a plus.
Would go again. The no kids thing is a plus, but was a surprise for the family that walked up to the door as we were leaving. Love my kids but it's nice to have a place to go without them.
Great place. I've been here many times, and it has always been a pleasant and enjoyable experience. I love the dragon boat lettuce wraps, poutine and fish tacos. So much of their menu is delicious, the only thing I've tried that I didn't care for we're the short ribs - although maybe that's just my personal taste. Overall this is one of my favorite places in the city to go for a few drinks and good food. Keep it up!
Love it!! I have tried various items on the menu and I have yet to be disappointed. This place is fantastic!! The only draw back, I find their drinks to be a little pricier than most.
Top notch!. I've been here about 5 times now and i have not had one disappointment. Very large, unique menu. Has a good variety of foods and sides to choose from.
Fantastic! My wife and I had dinner there last night for the first time. I had the K. C. Baby back ribs with side Ceaser and garlic mashed potatoes. The ribs were absolutely delicious! Fall off the bone, succulent and great BBQ flavour! Salad was fresh and tasty and the mashed potatoes were great! Good size portions. My wife's chicken burger was awesome! Chicken was moist and very tasty. Potatoe salad side was delicious! Meal came quickly and hot! Great service! 1 tiny draw back was that it was a bit loud in the restaurant, but manageable. Definitely recommend this restaurant!
Never disappointed with food. Portions are great. Wish there was a Thursday special though especially if bombers or jets fans are there to enjoy it.
All the things you would expect from a modern restaurant, good food, service & prices. Food is great, large portions, consistent. If you're are a light eater, share or expect leftovers. Their menu changes from time to time so feel free to take a chance on new offerings. Favorites are french onion soup, halibut and chips, jambalaya, butter chicken, noodle soup. Service is friendly and well trained. Definitely a resteraunt that has flown under the radar. Only thing that wasn't so good was the pulled turkey, it is served cold. 5 out of 5 stars.
Amazing!. We've been to Original Joes many times, and every time it is delicious. Great service, great food, and the best part? No kid, lol! I love my kids to death but when I have a night out with my husband, I don't want to spend it with other people's kids! Great restaurant!
My boyfriend and I love this place and they've actually have gotten to know us quite well. I love the food and have never ordered anything I didn't like. My favorites include the grilled cheese burger which is no longer on the menu but you can still order, the Cajun chicken wrap, the quilsadilla and the desperado pizza. We come here several times a month and LOVE it! P.s I LIKE that it's an 18 plus restaraunt.
Impressed. My wife and i were without our 4 kids, and were looking for somewhere new. We weren't disappointed. Decent patio, although facing Grant & Kenaston, but the food and prices were what made our visit. Wing nites are apparently Monday and Wed - $3.50 for a pound of wings (reg $10.50), I had 2 pounds of wings, the wife had a chicken burger and added bacon and cheese for a buck apiece - each had 2 drinks, and our bill was $47. Food was quite good, service was very personable - nice, yet not annoying. Would absolutely return. If you are thinking about dining at Kelseys/Montana's etc - forget it and head here.
This was a pleasant surprise. We started with OJ house brew and liked the light and blonde, but the red was especially smooth. Saigon Sub was a tasty blend of pulled chicken, hoisen and peanut with crunchy fresh veggies. Ordered it with some very acceptable sweet potato fries. The only disappointment was the calamari, which was fresh tasting, but needed one more minute in the fryer and some zip in the breading.
Had the veggie burger & sweet potato fries.....delicious!!! I loved that it didn't just fall apart in a huge mess on my plate, I hate when that happens! Enjoyed a glass of Fort Garry lime lager with it, great service too, an all round great lunch!!
Best burger from a chain. After hearing many positive things about the Original Joe's chain I finally had a chance to go with a couple of friends. I had The Original burger with bacon and cheddar. The patty seemed to be made fresh in store and not frozen from a factory like most chain restaurants. Overall, the burger was very satisfying and even bested some of the local mom and pop places. The fries were also slightly above average although nothing stands out as being memorable about them. The side Cesar salad disappointing though. It had limited cheese and dressing on it. The service was friendly and efficient. The consensus of my group is we would definitely go back here again.
Yummy.. We’d driven past OJ’s many times and kept right on driving, expecting it to be something like Kelsey’s (which wasn’t an enticing thought!) and were pleasantly surprised when we finally did try it. Parking is convenient, service is efficient and friendly, and any of the food we have tried has been very good. It’s a nice, reliable, adults only bar and grill and it’s lovely to escape from the over-tired howling children that populate the family restaurants in the city. The emphasis is on bar food, some of it creatively done but none of it radically weird or anything and it’s all sort of an upscale dive, as it were. The burgers and things that hubby’s ordered have always been fresh and yummy, and if only my mouth would stop watering whenever I think of their beef dip, making it the only thing I ever order, there are many other items I’m looking forward to trying.
5 Stars!. First Star: The service!!! The staff were all dressed APPROPRIATELY which is a refreshing change. They all had great smiles on, knew all the details about the menu and accommodated all of the allergy issues we had at the table extremely efficiently.
Second Star: The food!!! The food was hot, flavorful, and very filling. If you are looking to get your monies worth than this is the place to make it happen.
Third Star: The drinks!!! After recently becoming 18 years old I have recently started testing out different kinds of beverages. The mojito`s at Original Joes have become my favourite. In fact all the drinks they serve are really great. Something I would suggest if you are getting together with a group of friends would be the Bulldog Margarita.
Fourth Star: The prices!!! Its around 10.00 bucks and up for the food but you are getting a lot with not a lot of money. The quality is way up there too. For example, for 15.00 bucks you get a MASSIVE serving of Jambalaya. Its all equal. Which is a great way of judging how much food you want to have.
Fifth Star: Overall Experience!!! It was fantastic to say the least. Original Joes will totally become a hangout spot for me and my friends from now on.
Fav!. My husband and I finally got around to trying out the OJ's here in Winnipeg. We love the one in Saskatoon, but since we live in the North End, we rarely get down to Kenaston and Grant. The place was packed but we still received quick service. Our Server was really friendly and genuine. Not a usual robotic server, going through the motions until they can leave, (I used to be one of those servers as well). I had the ribs, which were AMAZING and my husband had the beef dip. The next day for dinner we found ourselves wishing we could have the same things again! Since it was his birthday we didn't pay attention to prices or limit ourselves to a budget. To our surprise when we received our bill it came to only $65, not bad for a very special occasion dinner. We will 100% be back!
Great Beer, Great Service, Great Food!. First off, I laughed at the review where someone referred to their policy of "adults only" as idiotic. Really? I've been a parent for 13 years and I LOVE the fact that minors are not allowed. Us parents need our time "away" too!
The beer selection is pretty decent as they have a couple of selections from Half Pints and a few other microbreweries. You really can't go wrong with ordering a pint of Little Scrapper!
I've been there a few times and have had a different server each time and honestly, each time has been amazing. Friendly and informative, the staff really do look like they enjoy the job which is fantastic.
I've have had several items from the menu and each one has been pretty damn good. From the sweet potato fries to the Hawaiian burger - great food and reasonable prices.
Our Favourite Hang out. We are in walking distance from Joe's so when it opened we thought we would try it and if it was good make it our spot to watch the JETS game and wow they did not disappoint!
Great service and always great food! The portions are huge and you gets two side for a reasonable price. The patio is really nice in the summer and during the hockey season it's a really fun environment .
Defiantly try it out!
Enjoyable. I thought that by going for dinner around 9pm, most restaurants would be half empty and easy to get into. Not Original Joe's. Arriving just after 9 we faced a 15 minute wait--the place was packed. Fortunately, the quoted wait time was the actual wait time (I can't stand it when they say 15 minutes but then it's more like 30). My bf and I decided to skip out on the appies, many of which sounded really good, and head onto the entrees. My bf got the fish and chips. The fish was thick and meaty with a very thin coating of batter. It was served with what I am assuming is home-made tartar sauce (it doesn't taste like the standard type). Overall, it was a really good deal because you actually got a lot of fish. For my entree I opted for the Thai Chicken Salad, however I am not big into chicken so I asked if I could sub shrimp instead. The waitress said sure and offered me either a skewer of garlic or cajun shrimp. I really appreciated this because not all restaurants allow substitutions. The salad was a good size and filled with cashews, onions, mandarin oranges, pea shoots, romaine, and rice noodles in a peanut dressing. The dressing tasted great and was very light--just enough to properly coat the salad. The primary ingredient in the salad were the rice noodles, not the romaine (which was fine by me) but the red onions which I normally enjoy were in larger pieces and really strong tasting for whatever reason to the point where I would get a slight burning sensation in my mouth. The salad came with a small wedge of banana bread which was fresh and yummy. The 5-shrimp skewer that I got with my salad was okay. I opted for the cajun variety which was a little spicy but a lot salty. Sometimes I couldn't tell if my mouth was burning because of the spices or because of all the salt. The flavor definitely did not go with the salad, but then again it wasn't supposed to, I just am picky and didn't want the chicken the salad is supposed to come with. Simply having the salad and no appetizer I was completely full after my meal, so it definitely is a good portion size. All together with tax for our 2 entrees and 1 2oz drink the bill came to $43. Good value and good service. Will be back in the future for sure.
Just recently started working here as a server. I have had many different serving jobs but this one is above and beyond the food is all made by hand(saw a couple comments about inconsistency) everything is fresh and it doesn't come frozen. All of our numerous sauces are made from scratch and the company as a whole puts a lot of emphasis on customer service and making sure you can 100% customize your meal! You should check it out for yourself don't be afraid to substitute chicken for prawns or switch your sauce... The sky is the limit.
Huge Portions. We went here on a Friday night, and it was a little noisy, but what can you expect? It's a fun atmosphere. Lots of options for beer, and some good choices on the menu.
I like how they bring a little 'tool box' of condiments to the table automatically. That way you don't have to hassle the servers for mustard, relish, ketchup, hot sauce, BBQ sauce, etc. It's all right there. I usually ask for hot sauce, and sometimes it takes them so long that I'm almost through my meal before they remember to bring it. However, here, the food was so flavourful I hardly felt the need for hot sauce.
I liked the calamari appetizer. It was among the best that I've had. I enjoyed the kona burger with grilled pineapple on it, and I was sooo full when all was said and done. Come hungry!
Yummy.. I've always had good food and service here. Nacho's are great. Nice to go to a restaurant and it not be a daycare.
Nothing out of the ordinary here; they do your typical burgers, wings, nachos etc., but they do it better than most places. We had pulled-pork nachos and some wings, a couple of people had burgers and one person had a salad. Everything was the right temperature and presented nicely. The wings were not battered, which was refreshing, and they were crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. The burgers looked great and the fries were hot and crisp. The server was polite and attentive, I never had to ask for a thing. I normally don't go for these types of places, but I'd go back here for drinks and snacks
Okay Food & Service. I don't have a whole lot to complain about this place. However, I do have to admit that the service and food was a lot better when it first opened than compared to now. Depending on the waitress, it can be a hit and miss.
The wings aren't bad, the burgers are very good including the Kona and Sargeant Pepper. You have a choice of 2 sides, my favourite being the yam fries and coleslaw. Their salads are alright (the one with a slab of steak on it is very good).
The drinks are fantastic, and give the fish & chips a try.
If you want a kid-free environment, this is the place to try.
I love their wings!!!! and i was more than happy that the waitress brought me a nutrition guide because I can't eat dairy/wheat etc.
Impressed!. Went there for the first time and was quite impressed.
They have late hours, so good for late diners like myself.
The interior was kinda of dark, but an upgrade from the old Grapes' days.
Myself, I ordered the Carolina Pulled Pork sandwich.... it was very good! There was plenty of pork, seasoned with the sauce of my choice, and was tasty! It was topped with honey slaw and the bun it was in was soft and sweet (reminded of a baked chinese bbq pork bun). Loved it. Also you can order 2 sides with the entree. Tried the house salad and the yam fries.... the green salad had a great house dressing with berries in it - very unique and good. The yam fries were perfectly crispy and came with a dill mayo dip. Probably not the healthiest foods, but sinfully delicious.
Service was nice and efficient. Definitely want to return to try some more.
Good food, bad location.. I went to Original Joe's becuase of the "free wings" coupon on facebook. Although it is very far from my house (about 20 - 30 mins) I never turn down free wings! When we got in, we were greeted by friendly staff, who sat us in a big comfy booth. Looking at the drink menu, I noticed the drinks were pretty expensive (about $8.50). I had a raspberry cocktail (can't remember exactly what it was called) but it was probably the best alcoholic beverage I have ever had! We ordered three orders of wings, and the spiniach dip. The wings were awesome! Lots of flavours to choose from. The spiniach dip was very weird, and we didn't like it at all. I would go back here for sure, but only if i am in the area. This place has a lot of potential, but I think it chose a bad location.
I've been a few times and have always enjoyed my food/ drinks. nice atmosphere
I liked it!. Went to Original Joe's for my bday dinner with 4 other people, and we all had very good meals- including burgers, fish and chips, ribs, salmon- really, no complaints at all. My Kona burger was awesome- a new favorite burger- and I liked that I could select 2 sides.
I'll be back.
This is a great place, fun atmosphere and great food. From the Nachos to the Fish and chips, from the Burgers to the Beef dip (there is no place in Winnipeg that makes better dips). With the no children policy, this place is a great alternative from clubs and lounges... Good job
Couldn't get better!. We just went for our second visit over the weekend to Original Joe's. This is an amazing place and I wish I'd found out about it sooner! I love the apps that they have. The nachos were the BEST I've ever had. The sandwiches and wraps are also to die for. My hubby has tried two of the burgers-the Kona was his fave :) I love that you get to pick TWO side dishes as well! The staff is great and so is the selection of beers that they have. Can't wait to go back for the best food in Winnipeg!

Cheap Eats. Massive proportions and its still cheap! I love Original Joe's, this is the first I have seen outside of Alberta. Way to go Joe's.
Spectacular. My husband and I go at least once a week since we've first gone. Awesome Fish & Chips, the halibut is nice and flaky and the batter just gives it that extra special flavor.
Love the fact they have new exciting beer's on tap that you wouldn't find at chain resturants.
Solid Casual Dining. This place is good competition for the Kelsey's/Montana's type market. This place is the former Grapes restaurant and it bears little resemblance to its former self on the inside. The decor has been stripped down, but the formerly tiny lounge has been replaced with a much larger bar area that also has some pool tables.
No children allowed. This might be more due to the fact that the place doesn't have any physical delineation between the bar and restaurant.
The food seems good. I had the pulled pork sandwich and it was very good. You can get the pulled pork in a variety of sauces. I picked southern bbq and I was more than happy with my choice. It was filling and the meat was tender and slightly spicy. You get your choice of two side dishes with any entree, so I went with fries and I really enjoyed them. They were crispy and flavourful.
The downside was there was something wrong with their pop dispenser. My coke was flat and tasted like soda water. When I pointed it out to my waitress, she immediately fetched the bartender who told me that I was right and tried to fix the problem. A refill was more or less the same, so I switched to ice tea. I hope they fix this issue soon. I did appreciate the staff efforts to fix the problem, I could see that my complaint was taken seriously and they tried to fix it.
One thing that was oft putting was the amount of noise. While I realize that the place was quite full, it seems that there is little soundproofing going on and I noticed how loud it was inside.
My server was friendly and prompt with service. The night I was there, it was very busy in both the restaurant and the bar.
All in all, I would definitely go back.
Good food and lots of it. Large portions at a good price.
Good food. Great pub. Too bad there is not a location close to me. Could have been a new watering hole.
I had the Kona burger as well - which is OJ’s bacon burger - and it was delicious! “The pineapple, bacon, and bbq (teriyaki) sauce worked well together with the burger patty.” It was burned
Yummy eats, good selection of cocktails, and an awesome patio in the summer
Sport bar with everything you want.
Food - original indeed. Very good and big portions. Have a vegetarian dish also.
Price - a bit expensive but not by a lot. Fair price.
Atmosphere- sporty a lot of screens. Nice and cozy
Service- perfect. Didn’t hover was so nice.
Great hangout for couples or friends
The food was delicious, the service was awesome too. The staff made sure we were comfortable and enjoyed our meal. The servings were large and i was so full after eating. I got the bruschetta chicken fettuccine and my friend got the fish and chips.
One of my favourite places in the city. Customer service is always friendly and I love the atmosphere when dining in. My regular go-to is the Kona burger, so amazing! Pictured is their poutine entry and it was fabulous. I don't think I've ever been disappointed with the food.
