Review Oh Doughnuts - Winnipeg

I pick up donuts nearly every time I take my dog to get groomed as well as the odd delivery. Always delicious and the everything cheesecake is what my dream are made of. Oh and the staff are friendly too!

We love Oh Doughnuts! My daughter saw they had the unicorn doughnuts so we phoned and they put a box together for us to come pick up. Awesome customer service!

Oh Doughnuts have the best gluten free donuts. It is nice to be able to go somewhere that they put the effort in to have "gourmet" gluten free flavours - not positive but it seems they have two choices each day. They also have vegan options but I haven't tried them because they usually aren't gluten free. I bought gift certificates from there for some of the staff at my mother's PCH and they absolutely loved the donuts they purchased with it. Wonderful place

Best Doughnuts and amazingly run business and staff! We love popping in and grabbing a half dozen doughnuts every once in awhile, but be sure to go early as they sell out fast! They are THAT GREAT! My daughter had one of the jumbo doughnut birthday cakes and everyone was impressed. So fresh, great flavours and such kind, compassionate, and caring staff!

Such a lovely place to get absolutely delicious donuts. All the different flavours they have really make the shop an experience when deciding. So hard to decide on just one, will definitely be coming back!

Such an amazing place!! The doughnuts are so incredibly delicious and the experience is always so friendly! Everyone I know loves them! And I love how important it is to them to keep staff and visitors safe, and their positive presence in the community.

Rotating menu of delicious doughnuts that include options for everyone, regardless of dietary restrictions! The Lime/ginger curd and their savoury doughnut varieties are standouts, IMO <3 I've visited the Broadway location and Taylor location multiple times. Both were clean, smelled of tasty doughnuts cooking and the staff were so nice. They brew a good cup of coffee to compliment your doughnut too. Keep being awesome!! Sincerely, The Girl with the Doughnut Tattoo

Awesome flavours! Best doughnuts in the city! It's on the pricier side so I treat myself once in a while but I always enjoy it every time! Everything Bagel flavour is my favourite!

Oh donuts has gluten-friendly donuts. (I had cherry amaretto which was very good.). I haven't had a donut in years since I've been gluten-free. The coffee is also delicious. My husband, who is not gluten-free also really enjoyed the doughnut that he had yesterday. Could use a couple more tables on the patio.

Today I had the gluten friendly and vegan chocolate sprinkle doughnut and gluten friendly and vegan raspberry vanilla doughnut: both cake doughnuts were heavily oil soaked and left an oily aftertaste. The box the doughnuts were placed in became oil stained from the oil soaked cake doughnuts. When the doughnuts were cut in half and visually inspected, 2/3 of the doughnut was visibility oil laden. Is this typical for gluten friendly cake doughnuts?

Ode to a crOHnut The young man said,he had never seen them so grande! This crOHnut was the fairest in the land. Bigger than my hand. I knew I was in dreamland. At first bite I squealed with delight. This sweet treat did more than just excite! It's texture crisp, light and yielding. Definitely a sonho worth stealing! How you enchant with each bite. Thank you Thank you I feel quite right!

Very cool concept; it's fun trying the novelty glaze flavours and fillings. The location is a bit inconvenient and the shop gets crowded very quickly, though. Love the tasty doughnuts

First time ever trying oh doughnuts and gourmet doughnuts and they are amazing !!! I love that your on skip !!
Taylor-Jane Maessen
Best doughnut I've ever had! Lot's of vegan choices (which is a first). I had the vegan chocolate dip and the vegan vanilla sprinkle. So good, can't even tell that it's vegan! I will definitely come back for more
Anja Pearson
The most amazing doughnuts I've ever tasted anywhere, let alone just Winnipeg. I go far too frequently, and just can't ever pick one favourite (though the earl grey glaze is one of the best)! My little sister was ecstatic they offer a divine vegan selection too, which taste just as good as the others. The coffee is delicious too (: Simply can't get enough!
Karly Marie
Freshest in the city and best selection! There are always more flavours than I can wrap my head around. Creative donut geniuses!
Chelsea Watson
I love this place! The best vegan doughnuts I have ever had, thank you for carrying a compassionate choice! I will continue to brag about how great the doughnuts are here to everyone I meet!
Vanessa Valente
I have never had a bad doughnut and I've tried at least ten different flavors Also the owner is very responsive and gives great customer service. Thanks Oh Doughnuts !

Oh Doughnuts is a cute little donuts shop in down town Winnipeg.

It’s a little store with some eat in space inside & outside. They have different flavors daily. On the day of my visit, there were more than 10 different kinds! including gluten free options, and savory ones. The choices are amazing and they all looked so good.

I tried pecan pie with maple whiskey graze flavor one. It’s the traditional donut dough(not the cake donut) and it was fluffy. Inside it was filled with a lot of maple sauce with chopped pecan, the flavor was so delicious. The maple whiskey graze was very weak I could not tell much of the flavor but the maple sauce was so good.

The size was decently big, however my donut was like 5 CAD each so I’d say it was one luxurious donuts! I’m not going to compare them to Tim Horton’s but most of the speciality donuts store I go are 2.5-3.5 CAD, usually.

Overall, I liked the donuts very much!

I love the Doughnuts here, I am anxiously waiting for the Mojito Doughnut to come back soon! I noticed that the Taylor location’s dough wasn’t quite as good, but I tried it again and felt that it was corrected. I enjoy the different flavours and creativity of the owners. (Oh and if you are unaware they have a great variety of Vegan options too!)

Having visited Calgary and Edmonton in January 2017 to find Tim Hortons still the only viable Canadian choice for fried Dough it was with modest expectations that Oh Doughnuts was visited immediately after lunch at The Don Restaurant, the space below street level at 326 Broadway severely lacking for charm in terms of decor though service was efficient and pleasant.

Owned and operated by Baker Amanda Kinden, her goal to provide Manitoba with a better brand of Doughnut hatched in 2016 and developed since into a sustainable business that even goes so far as to recycle fryer Oil to Biofuel, it is by way of a board outside (and social media) that daily flavors are announced, some sixteen or so including several Vegan choices ranging from simple glazed rings to Chicago Popcorn Mix.

Higher priced than big chains or even local Artisan competitor Bronuts, though the use of locally sourced Organic Eggs, Flour and Butter no doubt justifies the cost, it was taking a half-dozen elsewhere that indulgence began by way of the Turtle, a soft Brioche base with plenty of spring topped in all the appropriate ingredients while the follow-up Vegan Pershing achieved a near-identical crumb structure as a coil around Cinnamon topped in tangy “Yogurt” Glaze.

Frankly shocked at the Vegan Doughnut’s texture, another Egg-and-Butterless masterpiece found in a Bismark stuffed with Dark Chocolate and topped with sugary Peanut Butter, it was transitioning back to three un-restricted Bismarks that a difference finally was noted, the base more buttery and able to stand up to diverse textures such as pureed Blackberries and creamy Key Lime, though by far the best was one called Brown Butter Banana Cheesecake that had precisely the right consistency to earn its naming and not a whole lot of added sweetness which thus let ripe Fruit flavors shine.

Best in the city! Hands down. Love the variety and the unique flavours. So far, the lemon lavender, Oreo cheesecake, and espresso caramel cheesecake are my top three favourites! Can’t wait to see what they come up with next
Alexis
We liked this place! They have some fun flavors and make good donuts. The prices are high for an everyday thing, but for a treat it’s worth it.

Often disappointed.

As someone who eats gluten free I appreciate their attempt to provide gluten free treats. However, more often than not when you arrive prior to 8:30 (on your way to work) they don’t have gluten free donuts ready. Maybe they are offering to many flavours to ensure their vegan and or gluten free treats are prepared for those that wish to visit before work. Maybe they need to change their signage (gluten free available after x:00).

I definitely haven’t visited as often as I would if I could rely on them being prepared.
Greg
Great spot to pick up a box of donuts. Great gift idea to drop off at any business, as they are shocked at the size of donuts you get. Quality is very good.

Ok, so I am NOT a donut person... so read on if you wish. I happening to be craving something sweet and I heard some rave about this place.... "You gotta try the crohnut". I think that's how u spell it. Anyhow, I went in and ended up ordering more that I planned. Bought a crohnut, lemon lavender donut, creme brûlée donut and an earl grey donut. I ate the crohnut and it was interestingly delicious... a true donut/croissant at the same time. I will admit, I have never actually specifically went to buy donuts for myself, but it was tasty. Definitely not light tasting... scared to know calorie count on this one, but why would you count calories if you already made the choice to buy a donut?!?!? My summary after a bunch of sharing and samples... if you love donuts, you need to try this place. Good job guys!

Service was great, cute atmosphere. Really wanted to be impressed and support a local business. Unfortunately was disappointed by the taste. For gourmet doughnuts, they were just ok.

DISCLOSURE: I AM NOT A DOUGHNUT PERSON. I never have been a doughnut person. I find they are too sweet and I would rather have a muffin or another pastry. After following Oh Doughnuts on Instagram I decided I needed to give them a try as the pictures they post are irresistible! I tried a savoury everything bagel doughnut and got a lemon meringue doughnut for my mom. I found a new love let me tell you. The everything bagel doughnut is one of the best things I have had in this city. It was flaky and the cream cheese filling was flavourful and delicious. My mom said the lemon meringue was insane and the meringue was light. Looking forward to getting another one soon!

Best doughnuts! They really care about their customers to accommodate with as many gluten friendly and vegan options possible. They continuously are switching and adding flavours. Their gluten friendly doughnuts are so good, my favourites are blueberry lemon glaze, cherry with vanilla bean glaze and cookies and cream. The vegan doughnuts are light and fluffy. It's a bit pricey but worth buying.
Kimmy Gibbler
Amazing selection
I Love that they have Vegan options which are almost better as they didn't seen as sweet !
Bought a box of 12 for work and everyone loved them !
My fave was the vegan PB &Jam
Service was fast and delicious
Worth their weight in gold! When you walk in, you can smell the fresh aroma of baking. I have tried 3 gluten-friendly doughnuts. The coconut, chocolate caramel pretzel, and cookies and cream. They have all been amazing. My husband won't deviate from the first one he tried which was the pecan toffee. He is a super taster and the doughnuts here literally blew his mind. He didn't even like doughnuts.... until now! For the quality and experience of these doughnuts, $4.00 is a bargain. If you go to a restaurant you could easily pay $8.00 for a dessert, and it won't leave you half as satisfied as having one of these doughnuts. Come early as they sell out!

Ever since the Index at U of W have started selling their doughnuts, I've become hooked. The dough Oh Doughnuts has to their doughnuts is soft and moist, and not dry like the donuts at Bronuts in my opinion. The flavours are always changing every day, and I am always on their instagram checking if there are any new flavours that catch my eye that I want to try out. The coconut cream, boston cream, and ube are my absolute favourites, and I really appreciate that they use local, and as much organic ingredients and products as possible. The staff are friendly, the space is small but clean, and it's in a moderately quiet part of downtown. Just wish they were a bit cheaper for bundles of $4 and/or $6, but other than that, I will always be coming back as a happy paying customer.
Anthony
ohhh man, these doughnuts are good. If you have a sweet tooth and some extra cash, definitely check this place out. My favorite so far is the Cronuts - give it a try! :)
WinnipegTraveller045
I'm giving this one 5 out of 5, even though I've only tried one of their doughnuts. I had the Boston Creme, and it was exceptional. The chocolate on the outside was strong and flavourful, and the creme inside was ridiculously rich and vanilla-ey.

The service was very friendly, but as you might imagine at an artisanal doughnut shop, it's pretty pricey. But definitely worth it!

I've visited Oh Doughnuts once and left empty handed - this was on a Thursday at 2pm. After learning they were on Skip the Dishes, we got 6 specialty doughnuts around 9am today. We had the following flavours: Ferrero Rocher, Strawberry Cheesecake, Pecan Toffee and Peanut butter with cookies & cream. The dough was fluffy and not too greasy. The flavours were true to their names. It was definitely a nice treat and I'm happy to have finally tried their doughnuts. Only downside is their pricing - it was $25 for 6 specialty doughnuts. I'm definitely not used to paying that amount for gourmet doughnuts and I wouldn't mind supporting local again!

Was in the downtown area today, so decided to stop by and try out their doughnuts. We bought a box of six. They had a variety of flavours to choose from that changes daily. They usually provide an update of their flavours of the day on their Facebook page. The flavours I got were, ferrero rocher, pecan toffee crunch, eggnog glaze, coconut cream, coffee crisp, and vegan cherry amaretto with toasted almonds.

The total price was $19 for half a dozen doughnuts. The regular doughnuts were $3 each and the specialty ones were $4 each. I didn't see any CroHnuts available, but they do offer them as well.

Overall the doughnuts were pretty good. The ones filled with cream were delicious and not overly sweet. The doughnut I was most looking forward to try was also the most disappointing one, which was the cherry amaretto because it had that fake tasting cherry flavour and was a bit too sweet for my liking.

I would definitely return to try and get my hands on one of their CroHnuts since I didn't get to this time around. At $3-4 per doughnut it is a bit pricey, but I think it's well worth the price, as you won't find these special flavours at any of the chain donut shops aka Tim Hortons or Robin's Donuts.

Great doughnuts with lots of flavours to choose from. Love the lemon meringue doughnut. I gathered they make different doughnut flavours everyday. Nice freindly staff and owner. Parking is a big challenge. Be back to try different flavours.

Huge variety of inventive flavours. Every donut I have had has been delicious. Absolutely love this place and their wonderful donuts. Everyone I have brought here also loved it

This is a little hidden gem on Broadway we found on a coffee break. The donuts are huge fresh & tasty. Some are cream filled like coconut cream pie or sprinkled with coffee crisp chocolate bars average price per donut $3.00. That's reasonable due the size & quality. Worth a try!

Finally had the chance to try this place after looking at instagram pictures for months. The Boston cream was amazing. You get what you pay for. The service however was a bit off-putting. No greet and the workers just made the place feel cold which is unfortunate. But the owner puts out a really awesome business which is why I'll be back!

-------

I visited oh doughnuts a few more times and I'm soooo glad I did. The atmosphere has changed a lot and the workers are really sweet. The donuts are still amazing as ever and the everything bagel donut is well everything! I've never seen a food place so accommodating for people's dietary restrictions. I heard a lot of people mention the price and all I have to say is you have to understand business: oh doughnuts is solely selling doughnuts to cover the costs of the place, ingredients and to pay out workers. You can tell the donuts are not made from cheap ingredients. I'm really glad for the success they have, it's well deserved.
LunaPurple
Great tasting gourmet doughnuts with a range of unique flavours. The pistachio rose water infused doughnut is heavenly!! Definitely a refreshing change from our beloved Tim Hortons.
The only complaint I have is the rude staff member that took our order. She made us feel quite unwelcome - we couldn't leave the bakery fast enough!
Brendan Kernaghan
Ridiculously expensive donuts. Some are amazing (Cronut ughhhhhh), some are not. For what it is, check it out but prepare yourself for the sticker shock.

Came here with the girlfriend. We both got a cherry cheesecake doughnut. They were really good, probably the best in the city that I've tried so far. The process of getting it was short, the service was friendly. I'll definitely be back and this is a place I'll recommend to my friends.

Oh Doughnuts. I've been here a couple times now, and I can say that they truly do have a passion for making decadent doughnuts. What I find people have a problem with here, is pricing. However you get what you pay for and you can definitely tell that they use the finest ingredients alongside the passion in creating the final product. Don't expect it to taste like a Tims Doughnut or a Robins, this is a specialty doughnut shop. I enjoyed the Boston Cream doughnut, you can tell, by just tasting the chocolate that this is genuine stuff and the cream inside is delightful, rich (not too sweet) and worth the money. Their Baileys Glaze with Guiness Brownie chunks is probably my favourite one, not too overpowering just the right amount of sweetness, the doughnuts themselves don't fall apart too easy and aren't greasy and can make for a delightful eat. The Cherry Ameretto with toasted almonds is a must for almond goers, every doughnut I've tried has been made to perfection and you must give it try. Spoil yourself even if it's just one doughnut. You'll enjoy it ;)
HonestEater
Great tasting doughnuts with a wide variety of flavors. The chewy consistency of the dough is close to how I like my donuts. Not soft as Krispy Kreme, but good enough to satisfy my donut cravings.
Foodie204
Lemon meringue was hands down best doughnut I've ever tried. Vegan doughnuts I've tried so far aren't my cup of tea but I respect having more then one vegan option. Lemon thyme glaze was also excellent but perhaps a price break on a 6 pack would be possible?
Culinaryn00b
I have never had a doughnut that good in my life until i made my way in here. The curds are incredible.. every one so far has been stellar.

The doughnut is a little chewier then most but i think that's what i like the best about them!
Alishia Dumo
Picked these up lemon meringue Thursday and have been thinking about when I will go back. This is what an actual doughnut should taste like.

I am so happy that Oh Doughnuts has opened! One of the best donuts I've had, the dough is always fresh and the toppings are delicious and unique. I started getting these donuts when they were selling them at Parlour Coffee, and since then I have been hooked. Recently I've tried the Coconut Cream with Chocolate and it was amazing. I am not vegan but I do love that they have vegan options that taste good too! I would definitely recommend. Can't wait to try the Crohnut!

I love Oh Doughnuts. Waited sooo long for the shop to open and did not disappoint me. The flavour of each doughnut is ♥. I tried the Grapefruit Curd doughnut I think. I never tried a grapefruit dessert so I gave it a try. At first I didnt like it but the after taste makes you wanna eat it! The Boston Cream and Coconut Cream was sooo goood. They make Vegan doughnuts too which is awesome and they use local/organic ingredients which makes it even better! I am so happy that we have a doughnut shop like this. Ive been a fan of Oh Doughnuts when they used to sell their doughnuts at Parlour Coffee. I was so saaaaaad when they stopped selling at Parlour Coffee due to the idea of opening a doughnut shop. Im very happy. The shop is one free bus away from my school which makes it even better. Makes school much better. Yall should come and try it. They run out fast though so try to come early! The only down part of Oh Doughnuts is we dont know when/ how many doughnuts are left so try to call them beforehand! It hasnt been a month yet since they open so give them a break (:
Nancy
Terrible donuts. The place is not nice at all. It feels like you are in a basement. So I bought 6 for $18! That's un real to begin with. They were so greasy the grease went throw the box to the
other side. So that was not attractive. Then I take a bite and yup they were so gross and greasy. Never again am I going back

My walk to work just got more fattening. Oh Doughnuts has just opened up on Broadway. This is the opening I’ve been waiting for ever since owner Amanda Kinden decided to move from supplying coffee shops with doughnuts and open her own storefront location. I’ve been a fan of Oh Doughnuts ever since I first tried them at Parlour Coffee.
