One of my favourite Korean restaurants in Winnipeg. Service is ok. Food quality and quantity are awesome. They also serve Sushi but I prefer Korean dishes there. The sashimi were fresh, sushi rolls were good but definitely not authentic Japanese Sushi.
I highly recommend coming here the food is amazing & the service was great. Me & my buddy ordered a bunch of food when we came here my buddy got the bento box and you get a pile of food in it for $15. My favourite dishes I tried were Jeyuk Dolsot which is a rice bowl topped with spicy pork & veg with so much flavour. I also tried Jap Chae which is rice noodle with veg, mushrooms, beef & is also fantastic & the tempura udon noodle soup was really tasty as well.
Everything taste soooo good. Not a big fan of seafood but these satisfied my hunger and cravings. 😊 Will definitely recommend it to everyone
Been here twice now, our waitress was wonderful both times!! Food was great and no problems at all.... we will be back! The Tempura was so good, light and crispy! The edamame needed a little more salt but otherwise good all around! Thanks!
Didn't really meant to come here but I'm glad I did. Food is awesome and staff is super friendly. I ordered a bibimbap and I liked it very much. Loved their miso soup too. Definitely coming back.
Looking for the spot you and your friends will always go to?! This is The place to be!! Friendliest staff ever!! And awesome fooooooood yum!! Love the environment there too!!
I usually go here for their lunch specials -- soup, salad, edamame/tofu, a roll, a korean dish and rice for $18 including taxes and tea. Bit pricey but food is really good.
I've heard about this restaurant before, and decided to give it a try as I was in the area. It's a cozy and casual looking place with very simple decor.
They serve sushi, some Japanese items and Korean dishes. I came for their Korean dishes. We ordered the Gamjatang (spicy pork bone soup) and beef bulgogi. Also, spicy California roll & agedashi tofu to start.
From the menu, the sushi prices are definitely on the higher end, especially for the special rolls.
The sushi was okay, nothing special and tofu was okay as well. I've had better. The banchans they served were soyed potatoes, kimchi & bean sprouts.
The soup came out piping hot and very appetizing. However, I find that it lacked in taste and was kinda bland. I had to add salt to it, which I never do with soups.
The bulgogi was tasty, served on hot stone bowl. The servers were friendly although not the most attentive.
Was brought here by a Korean friend who said it was the most authentic Korean food you can get in Winnipeg. I found the staff very friendly, and answered any questions we had about portion sizes etc. I had a rice dish with an egg, carrots, and other toppings on top, and although it is authentic I didnt taste much.
This is definitely my go-to restaurant for Korean cuisine! Highly recommended! I've tried their Korean and Japanese foods and they have never disappointed me. Gamjatang, japchae, seafood pancake, budae chigae, ton katsu, jeyuk bokum, ojinger dolsot, sushi rolls, and tempura/creamy tempura, even the side dishes. SO GOOD!!! Did I mention the service is excellent? This place is perfect!!
Went here for the sushi and was a little apprehensive given some of the reviews but it ended up being pretty great! Between my friend and I, we had 6 rolls and every one of them was delicious and had a unique flavour compared to other restaurants. Plus the price was very reasonable. Would recommend and return!
Best sushi I have ever had. I have tried every single sushi place in the South area and always came back to Momo. I introduce all my friends to Momo and we are all coming back at least once a week!
Grate!
A very decent, casual place. Perfect for single or group dine-in. I order the Korean Stir Fry Bulgogi. I loved how the menu came with pictures for reference. I didn't wait for too lunch before I got my order, and it looked just as I expected. The Bulgogi Stir Fry has the right amount of beef with veggies to compliment it. I say the portion was very decent. The sweetness of the beef was spot on. The rice was perfect, though a refill for a bowl of rice would cost an extra $1. Spicy Kim Chi, sweetened potatoes? and some bean sprouts came along with the main dish in separate small plates of their own as appetizer, though I would have preferred that they gave it early on if it were to be appetizers.
Over all experience was great, I would definitely come back in the future. The price range was fair for the flavour and the way the dished looked.
This is a nice go-to sushi/korean restaurant. I like the sushi pizza, salmon avocado roll, dynamite roll, the bimibap, bulgogi in a hot pot and spicy pork in a hot pot.
If you get the dishes in the stone pots, the rice is delicious, hot and gets crispy! And the sides are yummy. Bean sprouts (which I can eat by the bag), kimchi and potatoes (which are very tasty and sweet!).
It is a pricier location for the food you get, but not terrible. I still prefer other sushi places but the Korean food is worth going for.
Momo is one of the Korean restaurants that my husband and I frequent. We usually dine in, but today we decided to get takeout for the first time. From ordering it over the phone to having it ready, it only took 15 minutes, or less than that actually, because I arrived a few minutes early.
I ordered 3 california rolls for the husband, and for myself, I got the soon dubu chigae (soft tofu stew), which I always order when I'm there and is my favourite. The california rolls were $3.95 each with 8 pieces, which is probably the cheapest I've ever seen it being offered. My soon dubu chigae was $10.95, and I got it with pork (another option is seafood). Aside from tofu, the stew will come with sliced onion and a cooked egg. The stew tasted just like how it does when you dine in and was still hot by the time I got home (about 10 minutes). They also gave me two side dishes, being kimchi and seasoned bean sprouts, and a serving of rice. When we dined in, we would usually get three side dishes, which would include the two I mentioned, and also the soy sauce braised potatoes. Also, I liked the fact that they put cling wrap over the opening of the container before putting the lid on to prevent spillage of the stew. Many times when I'm driving while it's sitting in the car, soup or sauce will spill out of the container, so I thought it was smart of them to do so.
Overall, the taste of the food was consistent with dining in. Their sushi here is also very good. I would recommend getting the spicy torch roll. Other Korean dishes I'd recommend is the budae chigae and jeyuk bokum. Price-wise for the Korean dishes, they are more expensive than other restaurants I've been to. If you can't be bothered to travel further for cheaper options, then Momo would be the next best thing.
When I think sushi, I think Momo. The one and only sushi place I go to when it is in reach. Even if I'm downtown, I sometimes make the drive to pick up sushi from there because it's just so pleasing to the taste buds. Keep it up whatever you are doing.
Three words... SPICY CREAMY TEMPURA. YUM !
This place is my family's favorite. We've been here only twice because we're from out of town, but we're a bit picky when it comes to restaurants so many we only go to once and never again. To go there more than once is really good.
We've only tried a bit of the sushi and Japanese food but what we had was delicious so far. Our main reason for going to MOMO was the Korean menu. It does not disappoint. Authentic delicious Korean food. I'm awful at the name but the spicy rice cakes are amazing as is the bibimbap and the stone pot dishes (especially the pork).
If I lived closer I might go here every week.
Delicious and good value. This is our "go to" restaurant, usually once a month (enough that the staff recognize us!). We haven't been to that many Korean restaurants but I'm usually disappointed when we do try somewhere else - they are never as good as Momo. The jeyuk bokum (spicy pork) is always spot on, not overly sweet or lacking in flavor like elsewhere, and the side dishes are good and plentiful (I find other places skimp on those). The sushi is really good too, the torch and crazy rolls being standout. Just as good as most sushi restaurants! The prices are reasonable, and the staff is always friendly and efficient. Love Momo, we just can't stop coming back.
Korean is better than the Japanese. The korean dishes are amazing, love the tofu or the pork bone soup. The sushi rolls are okay.
Awesome restaurant !. I have been going here since it opened . The best Budae Chigae in town . The Nigiri sushi is always on point and the hand rolls are fantastic . It's always busy and has a comfortable atmosphere . Certainly the best place to go for Korean food . Staff is very friendly .
Best Korean food I've had in the city so far. The sushi is not that great. I loved their dduk bokki and Kalbi. Also if you're in the mood for soup their spicy tofu soup is really good. I get it with seafood.
I am a chicken fan and I eat there chicken sushi all the time. I was amazed with the dynamite roll compared to Sura, because of their crab and mayonnaise mixture. I'd recommend chicken lovers get chicken sushi. Too bad no teriyaki sauce for it. Instead, it has sweet and sour sauce over it. Which isn't too bad.
OK food, crap service. The food here is decent. Not enough to make me go "Let's go to Momo! I'm craving Momo!" Usually we end up here because all the places we wanted to go to are mysteriously closed. We've been here more than one occasion.
Their sushi is good and tastes fresh. I found with Korean owned sushi places they put some sort of yellow sauce that tastes like hollandaise sauce on their rolls. I think it was on the sunflower roll. It was good. The prices are on the mid to pricy side. Their chopped scallop roll was pretty good to. Those two rolls are the only ones that stand out in my head.
I usually just go here for Korean food. Their menu is pretty small. I had the gamjatang one time and the meat was pretty tough, not melt off the bone kind of deal so it was very messy to eat. The broth was also bland. So I knew not to get that again. My partner always orders the bibimbap and he likes it, but then again it's kind of hard to screw that one up. Like most places here it's not a dolsot bibimbap so no crispy rice. The soondubu chigae was decent here too but a bit skimpy. On my last visit I had the kimchi chigae which is almost the same thing (like a soondubu chigae with pork, no seafood, and an addition of kimchi) and it was alright. Their side dishes were good too, like their sweet potato dish. Mmm.
Service sucks though. You have to wave your arms to get any attention. Which sucks because their water cups are so small and you need to rely on the waiter to give you water.
Fine, home-cooked quality. If you're looking for the professional flourishes and subtleties found in high end gastronomy you're not going to find it here. Instead, what you will find is fine, hearty, home-cooked tasting food at a reasonable price. Service is warm and friendly but sometimes harried due to short staffing. More effort could be put in the decor/atmosphere even though it's what you would expect being in a strip mall near the edge of town. Recommended: dynamite roll, the seafood pancake and the seafood tofu soup. Since Momo is primarily a Korean restaurant, their Japanese menu items are a Korean "take" on Japanese food so veer towards the Korean menu offerings. (Watching the owner practice his golf swing behind the counter is par for the course.)
Good food!. I think everything here is good. You really can't go wrong with the food here. It's a good place to go for a simple dinner. The ingredients are fresh and we've always been happy with our food.
I went to Momo for the first time last week, it was fantastic. The servers were knowledgeable and efficient. The server recommended the Sunflower sushi roll which had a wonderfully unique taste. I also had Soon Tofu Chigae (spicy tofu soup) which was great! My boyfriend (who doesn't like spicy foods) thoroughly enjoyed Ton Katsu. The prices were great and we had plenty of leftovers to take home. I'd absolutely go again!
Pretty decent sushi.. Most of the stuff I ordered, tasted quite good, but two of the rolls I got were not wrapped properly and just fell apart.
All in alll I would call it a positive experience.
Best Sushi In Winnipeg!. I have been going to Momo for 4+ years and I can safely say I have not had a bad experience eating here. After trying many of the Sushi restaurants in Winnipeg I can safely say Momo has the best tasting sushi that this city has to offer. The rolls are large! and have generous portions of fish and the prices are great.
Good food. Great prices.
I had the Bibimbab which was okay a little bland, my husband had a bento box, he said it was excellent. Was recommended to us by one of our Chinese friends... it was a solid restaurant.
Nothing but good things to say, highly recomended. Waitresses are cheerful and efficient. Service is great and fast. Prices are low as well, great choice if you want high quality food for a low price.
Sooo Good!! I had the dynamite roll, tuna sashimi and fried dumplings. Very fresh, food, friendly fast service and the girl working there was a sweetheart! My meal came to less than $20 and I was very happy with the whole experience. Im not from Winnipeg but if its not the best sushi in town then ill consider relocating.
Good. I find Momo to be good, not great. I had the bibimbap which I found to be lacking flavor. The service was good.
Delicious!. This is our "go to" restaurant. The service is brilliant - the waitresses are always fast and cheerful. The spicy pork with veggies (je yuk bok um) is spicy and tasty, comes with traditional Korean side dishes - the potatoes are addictive. All of the special rolls are good, large and have a lot of fillings and toppings. Any of the sushi here is good - better than a lot of other sushi restaurants in the city. Prices are good, the food and service is always consistently good.
Japanese food is OK, the Korean fare is good for Winnipeg.
I've tried Many Korean places and this one has the best BIBIMBAP (my fav)
Will definitely return.... The service was excellent, with lots of food for a good value. Enjoyed the spicy chicken, miso soup and all the side dishes. Sushi was delicious. Would definitely go there again.
Their korean food is much better than their japanese food. Good prices. Its usually packed so you knkw its a good place. Cafe Platea is the same style but with better rolls, although smaller location. I still like this place
One of the best places to go cheap with high quality large portioned sushi! Where can u find that I'm this city! It's my favorite place to eat sushi. Ur not spending 50 bucks and leaving still feeling hungry!
Best Korean in Winnipeg. So far this is the best Korean food I have found in Winnipeg. The jigaes are awesome, bulgolgi is good, and the Dok kalbi is great. Definately worth a visit.
Love this place. Ordered the Korean spicy pork and vegetables...delicious! Came with unlimited awesome side dishes. Also ordered salmon maki, very fresh. The service was excellent. Will be back soon.
Price and quality. When we first got in there, one of the waitress put us at the corner table which we think its okie. then another waitress will come to us and said since you guy have a little kid, I can move you to another table cause your table is right under the AC. I was like wow, that is what you call service. Then we place the order the sashimi is super fresh, with $24 for 24 pieces. and they are thick!!! I'll for sure go back there again. but i do hope they can do some sort of upgrade for that front door there, cause i can't imaging during winter time whenever people open the door those cold air pour right into restaurant.
Great!. Hands down the best sushi ive ever had. even the next day the rice is still better than there fresh rice at alot of other places ive eaten sushi.
Good Korean Food. I liked the japchae. It's a delicious, but somewhat greasy stir-fried dish that combines sweet vermicelli noodles made from the starch of a white sweet potato (aka glass noodles), thinly slices of beef, carrots, green onion, spinach, shiitake mushrooms and green peppers. The glass noodles had a slightly chewy texture (in a good way) and was wonderfully flavoured with sesame oil and soy sauce. There was beef in this dish, which is interesting cause the menu didn't mention it at all so if you're vegetarian, make sure you inquire first.
The bulgogi, pan fried sweetly marinated beef with vegetables, rice and kimchee. The beef was slightly sweet and tender and the kimchee was spicy.
The spicy tuna roll (cucumber, tuna, tobiko and hot sauce) and the crazy roll (cucumber, spicy tuna, sliced garlic, green onion and salmon on top). Overall, the rolls were average as there was a bit too much sushi rice in the rolls and the rice was a bit wet.
Service was friendly and efficient. I'd go back again but I'd stick to the Korean dishes.
Great sushi place! Definetaly one of my favourite sushi places in the city. Friendly staff and well priced food. Had one Korean dish there before and it was geat! would really recommend MOMO's!
Great Sushi. I haven't tried any of the Korean dishes, but the sushi is excellent. Very well priced, fresh sushi. Our regular take out place now.
Get place for korean and japenese dishes. Located in fort richamond....a yummy place to go too whether you are in the mood for sushi, japenese, or korean food. A full menu ranging from appetizers all the way to lunch specials..
Come enjoy a nice beer or some sake or soju while you are eating these foreign dishes
Take out is also available
Come on down
Love it! You can have the best Korean food and great sushi too. Try it!
It is hard for me to get excited about Momo. While not bad, one can find more exciting (and cheaper) Korean in Winnipeg. A meal at Momo may suffice if you are caught in the area, but beware of the slow service and, slightly, overpriced offerings.
All around it was an amazing meal and everybody really loved their dishes. I can't wait till I can go to Momo again!
