Over the last few years I’ve reviewed about 20 or so Vietnamese restaurants. Even with that, there are still several that I haven’t gotten around to trying. One of these is Thanh Huong, which is located on Sargent Avenue by Langside Street. 11:00 am – 3:00 pm. 11:00 am – 10:00 pm
Best pho I’ve ever tried their beef satay soup is also amazing. For vermicelli I recommend ordering the stir fried chicken with lemon grass.
I was introduced to this place by my father about a year ago. Since then I have gone once every second week! Thanh Huong has fantastic service! The old man is great, and his wife who does the cooking makes the best bowl of soup out there! I highly recommend #6! "spicy beef and noodle soup". I personally get half spice, that's good enough for me.
All in all I highly recommend this place!
Yum! My favorite Vietnamese restaurant. I've been three times and every time we leave happy and satisfied with their food. Their DIY rice crepe wraps are pretty good.
I'm a huge repeat customer to Thanh Huong. Ever since a friend brought me to this Vietnamese restaurant on Sargent a few year ago, I've often returned for an order of that delicious Satay Beef Rice Noodle Soup. Insanely fast service, usually get your meal in no more than 10-15 minutes the two owners run the joint alone and always seem to be steadily busy. I've been there with people who have ordered the chow mein, and have heard really good things. The vegetable spring rolls are also a nice treat, deep fried to a crisp and bite sized, theyre unique in taste and presentation. My go to spot for a big bowl of soup on a chilly day :)
First time here. Very nice and welcoming place. Very nice staff. Food was pretty darn good. Salad rolls were very good. Pad Thai was not as spicy as I like and a bit over cooked. But I will definitely go back.
1. Clean and nice decor
2. Friendly and fast service
3. Menu had lots of selection
4. Higher quality prepared vietnamese cuisine
5. Pricier than other Vietnamese restaurants, but worth it.
6. Food tasted great!
Nice restaurant with tasty soups. Quick service. Cheap prices. Nice decor. Great option for a quick lunch or dinner.
I recommend this place.
My co-worker who is a regular took me to this place. I ordered the same food as he normally does which is #14- Slices Pork Rice Noodle Soup spicy. It was huge serving and the spice is just the right kick. We left happy and full-lol.Fast service and the owner is very friendly. Nice clean place as well. I won't hesitate to try other menus next time.
Thanh Huong is a nice addition to the Vietnamese restaurant community in Winnipeg featuring one of the better bowls of pho I have encountered in the city. Despite their location, the restaurant is handsomely decorated and feature good enough food to bring in customers a plenty. And while I felt their submarines could be improved I was impressed they simply offer the dish at all ... and at such a reasonable price to boot!
Good Vietnamese Food. I will admit that our family friends own this restaurant, so I might be a little biased, especially since it feels like I grew up in this restaurant. This is the place where I got hooked on Vietnamese style coffee. Throughout the years, I've mostly eaten their phos (typically rare beef with beef balls). I can attest to their spicy beef satay and their chow mein dishes as well. They've successfully been in business at this location for well over a decade, so I'll let that be proof alone of the quality of food.
I am never disappointed with this place. Love the pho and salad rolls. This is usually the place I go to when I'm craving Vietnamese. ........
Only place i will go for PHO....
#6. Satay Beef Rice Noodle (Spicy)
It was so long ago that I went there I can't remember the exact name of the noodle/chicken dish that I had but I do remember it was awesome. The gentleman behind the counter was very friendly as was our waitress. Huge portion at an excellent price. I don't eat out often but this is a place I'll be revisiting.
One of the best!. Dropped by for a late dinner last night, and left VERY happy.
The owner is very friendly and fast.
The pho was some of the best I've had - amazing broth, and lots of beef in the soup.
My wife's noodle bowl was also excellent - lots of tasty chicken, veggies, and delish little spring rolls.
We splurged on two deserts - the deep fried bananas, which come with a little honey dipping sauce, and the traditional red bean, green jelly, and coconut milk desert - both of which were excellent.
Merry Christmas. One of the best Christmas suppers i have ever had! Easily the top 5 chinese rest in the Peg.
Everything had a very distinct taste. Delicious. Very fast service. I will be back for sure.
It is at par or maybe even slightly better in my opinion than Four Seasons and Komodo which are two fantastic places too.
Very clean as well.
Great Viet Food. My fav thing about this place is all the fresh herbs they provide with each dish.
Stand up menu. Nothing I have had here is bad.
Interesting.... Bright chandeliers, swooping orchestral waltz music, and somebody eating something that smelt like an armpit. Odd yet interesting.
This place is fantastic. Service is always great, the food comes fairly quickly and tastes really good no matter what I order. Large portions for the price. I always leave happy.
6 Stars for the #6. A friend of my boyfriend suggested Thanh Huong to us about 7 years ago. So glad that he did because it is wonderful. I have tried Pho (#6) at other Vietnamese restaurants and no one even comes close. I have learned my lesson if I want Vietnamese food I need to go to Thanh Huong. I have tried things other than there #6 and have yet to be disappointed there chow mein is fantastic with a brick of crunchy noodles underneath a mountain of fresh meat and veggies. There food is so good that when we went with a group that included some vegetarians who ordered the deep fried eggplant, my boyfriend ate it mistaking it for the chicken ball that we had also ordered ( he normally doesn't like egg plant) he had no idea that he wasn't eating the chicken balls this is how well they prepare the food here. They also make the #6 with chicken now instead of beef and it is just as good. And one bowl of soup is all you need I finished my first one ever the other day and could barely move afterwards. One suggestion, if you are going for the #6 bring tissue because you'll need it
Best soup in town!. I always have the #6 spicy beef satay soup, best soup in the city imo. Very friendly owners in a not so friendly end of town
Great Vietnamese dishes and generous portions. Been eating here for years...it feels like it's under the radar a little bit as everyone seems to know more about Viva (on the same street). But they've been around for a long time and their food is legit - great flavour, generous portions and decent prices. At first glance, their prices seem higher than other places but they offer larger portions so it all works out.
I've always stuck with the Vietnamese dishes here but there are the tons of other stir fried dishes that I have never tried. Their vermicelli (bun) bowls are great all around $9-$12. I like #33 which has egg rolls, grilled pork and grilled ground pork with the veggies and vermicelli ($9). I always get #11 which is the pho tai - medium rare beef slices in the pho ($8) - big bowl filled with lots of thin vermicelli that have that perfect consistency and lots of beef. Hands down the most generous beef portions in the city. And of course the pho comes with the plate of veggies - bean sprouts, lime and thai basil but no chilies. The soup is delicious though it is a more oily that I prefer but great balance of flavours.
I love ice coffee ($4.50) but I don't love their version as much. A little too much condensed milk which made it really sweet and the coffee isn't as flavourful.
Food service is extremely fast and lunch isn't packed so you can eat your meal fairly quickly.
They are probably one of the hardest working Vietnamese restaurants out there as they are open DAILY. Many Vietnamese restaurants are either closed on Tues or Wed so this is a great option and there's always plenty of parking on Sargent Ave.

Always good !!. Bin going hear for years now, mmmm Pho so good, the broth is rich, lots of meat, salad rolls are delicious, A lot of there other menu items are great as well, shrimp and lemon grass is so good !!
Was an old favorite. I used to come here lots during my college days. Was my favorite Pho place. The food is GREAT. Portions great. Service good.
Though there were times I would have to ask for my change, which I thought was funny. But after a few times it gets old. That was part of why I stopped going. (I don't mind tipping, and I always tip but you don't get to decide how much.)
I stopped going because they raised the prices and a lot of other competitors had opened and pretty much had the same quality of food for cheaper.
Sweet and sour shrimp. A chinese dish done right, was a surprise - i love #33 vermicilli with ebsically everything for 8$ all u need to order
Fast & Friendly !. I ordered take out from here last night and was pleased with my selections. Now I realize doing Vietnamese Crepes take out isn't quite the same as eating in and I improvised a little but the flavours were still good. I thought my Seafood Vermicelli Soup could have had a little more seafood included to have more seafood flavour.....but the most amazing dish I ordered was by far the deep fried Eggplant and Tofu dish. I am a big fan of eggplant and these big tender pieces really did it for me in a most tasty sauce. The owner was friendly and in no time I had my food and was out the door ! A good choice !
Amazing. Ordered the ginger beef, it was the most tender beef I have ever tasted. One of those moments where you take a bite, stop and say "oh, wow, you have to taste this!"
The satay pho was spicier than others I've tasted. All the ingredients were very fresh. The spring rolls were slightly different than other vietnamese restaurants, but in a very delicious way. Can't wait to go back
I had lunch here for the first time. It is a very well decorated restaurant with sweet and hospitable staff. I had the Pho and it was ok, the broth and meat was good, but I may need to try their dumplings the next time I visit to get a better feeling of the establishment.
It was very good. Service was quick and they were very attentive to my kids dietary needs. They are vegan so a vegan soup was provided. I got the shrimp and pork soup was a little disappointed there was only one shrimp in the entire bowl. Other dishes were the rice rolls and veggie chow mein. A little more expensive than other places. Miss the fruit at the end from pho kim houng.
We almost always order the same thing here, large #6 beef satay noodle soup. It's always so tasty and spicy and filling! Their other menu options are equally good, we typically order either curry chicken or deluxe chow mein.
This restaurant was very lovely. The food was yummy. You can tell the owners take pride in their restaurant.
#6 is some of the best spicy beef pho in the city. Truly amazing.
I definitely recommend this place. You can also enjoy some of their fantastic dumplings, spring rolls, or really anything else on the menu.
The restaurant had lots of options to choose from. The food is authentic. I had a platter where you roll your own salad rolls. It was about 6-7 of them. I really like this as I make it the way I like and most restaurant don't have this.
