Review Four Seasons Chinese Food - Winnipeg

R W
Got take out. It’s decent/average. Probably tastes better if you dine in at the restaurant as batter gets soggy and food cools off during transportation. Chicken ball batter was very thick and tasted sour/vinegary. Polynesian spicy beef was very good and the best dish. Portions were decent. Free white rice with order. This is your average Chinese food restaurant and you’ll be satisfied. Staff was polite and prompt. Each dish is about $10-14. Four plates fed four “average eater” people and we had a tiny bit of leftovers of some but not all dishes.

Stopped by last minute as I just so happened to be in the area. They were fast...almost too fast actually! The dried Won Tons were fabulous and so were the Battered Shrimp. The container of free rice was about 3/4 full. But, both veggie dishes were bland and had the same sauce flavor. Thank goodness for the soya sauce at the bottom of the bag!! And it wasn't too pleasant to listen to the girl helping me get upset with the girl answering the phone because she wasn't being very kind to a customer. Nope, I won't be back again.

We have been ordering from here for years. Have tried some other "recommended" spots but always end up coming back to Four Seasons. Best Chinese food in the city, hands down. They tend to be busy and it's best to order days in advance but that just goes to show how popular they are.

I placed an online order tonight and didn’t receive a phone call - that has NEVER happened before - I noticed they are on IG and messaged them - the weather caused outages and they had to close today! Four Seasons, by far, has the BEST communication when speaking to their customers!! I’ve been ordering from Four Seasons for almost 3 decades and I still order the same thing; autumn chicken, yangtse noodle w/ chicken, and chicken balls w/ sweet’s sour sauce. The food is delicious, the staff are great, and the location is central to many areas of Winnipeg.

Excellent food! Large portions with amazing taste, prices were reasonable, would definitely recommend trying this restaurant!

They are one of the worst restaurant in the city. The Manger or owner talk very rude to his customers. I told him one of my food wasn't made right, which was the fried rice it tasted like white rice and soy sauce with can chicken. His response were you didn't have to return to my restaurant. I asked him is that how u talk to you customers he said because I spoke bad about his restaurant. I told him so you don't want me to give my opinion about the food I bought from ur restaurant 😏 he said he don't have time for this and asked me to come get another food, I told him no I need my money back and I don't appreciate the way he spoke to me

We ordered from our hotel in Feb/ 21. The delivery was much faster than they commited to. The food was hot and absolutely delicious, The curry shrimp was perfect, so was the beef and broccoli, we were surprised that with 5 entries we got 2 boxes of white rice. This is our new favorite Asian restaurant !

We were out and dinner planning had gone by the wayside. As we were heading home the distinct aroma of Four Seasons permeated the air. Got home, made the call with a twenty minute pick-up time, bonus! The 3 dishes were delishes
Ricky
Food was ok ...portions are very small. Ordered dry breaded veal and couldn’t believe how small the portion was. I find it very expensive for what you get.
Akhil Mehta
Ordered here for the first time. Could not believe how small the portion was for the dry breaded veal. Literally half the size of a Mac and cheese box. The Singapore noodles were a normal sized container. Ordered the two dishes for two of us and due to the size of the meat my husband was still hungry. Food was good but not for the sizes.
Larry Theyorkie
the food is ok...however the woman who owns it is rude and they havent changed the menu, or added anything new in years...as well, any one who likes veggies, take a pass as they consider celery and onions as their go to veggies....

I have eaten here many times. Delicious! I am really picky when it comes to meat and I find that the meat used in dishes at a lot of Asian restaurants tastes leftover and of poor quality. The meat here is always tender and does not have that "leftover" taste. I love love love their ginger beef- melt in your mouth. The only reason I gave this a 4 instead of 5 was availability and wait time. You often need to preorder or your wait will be hours long. They are always very busy. They also tend to close down for extended vacations a couple times a year.

Another Chinese restaurant that doesn't come close to our favorite one. The restaurant we normally order from was closed, so we opted for this one because it is also close to us. I guess it is a problem when you've had great tasting Chinese and then have to eat some that tastes like this. It was tasteless, bland and boring. This must be another restaurant that isn't even trying. The people that are saying it is great must have never had good Chinese, because this is not one of them.
We will not order from here again.
Clare
Whenever we are hosting a lazy dinner party this is our favorite place to pick up from to avoid cooking! Everything is always fresh and consistent. We've gotten some people hooked from other ends of the city who will drive just to get their Chinese. Take note wait times can be a bit they are always busy - but it's worth it !!

Really good and consistent. Our regular #1 go to place for Chinese food. Their breaded meat dishes are done very well and have great sauces on them.

This is our typical go to for 'Chinese' food. I'ts certainly not our #1 place, that would be Plaza in Elmwood but since we're out of the delivery area it costs $20 to get it delivered, it's worth it but not an all the time place. That's where 4 Seasons comes in, it's close, reasonably priced and tastes good. We've never had a bad experience from here, and that's more then I can say for just about any other restaurant I've ever ordered from.
Deeh
Does not taste like authentic chinese food. Its average. Got dry breaded veal and it was packed in a box as big as Mcdonald's apple pie box. Its an okay food. I would recommend the lemon chicken. Cantonese chowmein -- nah! Not the greatest when it comes to asian flavours. And when you go to a chinese take out place and you asked for chili oil ,and they don't know what that is.. that's a problem.
Traci G
Our go to for reasonably priced Chinese food. We are never disappointed at 4 seasons ! The ginger beef is the best and it's always hot and ready on time 😊😊
Ns
The service is great and really fast!! Placed an order online at 6:50 and said I'd like it ready for 7:45 IF possible but really I wasn't expecting it until later on past 8 (I mean they still have to cook it after all!) my order actually showed up at around 740, I was so happy at how fast it was ! The portions are good sizes and the food is delicious, definitely some of the best Chinese food I've ever had. I tell everyone about 4 Seasons and how great it is!
Armcl
4 Seasons - # 1. Love their lemon chicken and ginger beef. Have been ordering the last 4 years and once in awhile order Chinese elsewhere, but none can compare. Do not agree with the negative remarks posted. Yes price goes up, as anywhere else.
Russkampic
One of the best take out restaurants in Winnipeg. You have to try the Beef Mokuaweoweo!
Ynotbu
Way to expensive. Use to be way better, keeps going downhill, thought it was just me noticing however most people I talk with say they don't order from here any more. To bad they USE to be one of the best. Oriental pearl is the way to go.
Ken
Been ordering here since they first opened. Price keeps going up as fast as the quality goes down. Portions are smaller all the time. Diner quality at best.

Ordering for Take-out? - Think again. I've had a few less than desirable outcomes when ordering take-out at this restaurant. The pick-up time for the food I ordered was no where near the time they told me it would be on two occasions. I'm talking 45-60 minutes late. If your driving several miles on a cold Winnipeg night - this is a major let down. The food is admittedly very good, I suppose that's why I kept coming back. However the latest experience has put me off for good. I told the person taking my order about the delays I've encountered previously. I was told my order would be ready - 1 hour, it's never ready in an hour especially on a weekend. I was told that unless "something unexpected happened" that the order would indeed be ready and that "they have no control" over the kitchen and are simply "estimating" when orders would actually be ready. Forgive me, but is not reasonable to expect that when you show up when your told to, that the food you ordered is actually ready? I sensed a little frustration from the person on the phone and then she hung up on me, It turns out I was speaking to one of the owners.

Amazing. We've been dedicated customers for years and constantly order from 4 Seasons. We've never had a bad experience, and the staff is always organized and friendly. It's honestly my favorite restaurant in the city, nothing compares! I love it.

Good food, great organization. I used to live closer to this place and even having moved to west end it is worth the drive to go here. The food I've always found quite tasty, their placement of all sauces on the side lets you make the choice and their packaging makes take out really easy.

I LOVE their order taking. There was a person who said they waited 30 minutes after ordering 4 hours in advance and my girlfriend and I were SHOCKED! I love that they can give you a 15 minute window where the food will be ready and if you call in on a busy night they will lead off by telling you when it could be ready for, to let you decide if you even want to order.

Consistently good!. We've been ordering from 4 seasons for several years now. We actually moved to the far side of the city (Charleswood), but make a trip about every couple months.

The Chinese food is not 'authentic' but it is absolutely reliable. Great ingredients, accurate order taking, a clean kitchen and tasty food each and every time. I wish we had something closer to our end of the city but nope (tried them all!). Pepper pot steak is our favourite, but all dishes have been very good.
Unahappycustomer
Not happy. Ordered 4 hours in advance and waited a half hour for my food when I went to pick up, food is very american and lots of grease. If you like deep fried bread and watery stir fry and no taste chow mein, than give it a try!

Ever since I tried this place 5years ago I have never had anything bad to say. The portions are good, prices are reasonable and the quality doesn't vary it always good. I recommend this place to every body wanting a 'flavorful' Chinese dinner. The other thing I highly recommend is to 'pre-order' a day ahead, this place is always busy.

Best Chinese food in Winnipeg! Lemon chicken, ginger beef, fried rice are just a few of my favourite dishes!
Seema Pal
Bar none, my favourite Chinese Restaurant in the city! We moved and are close enough to the restaurant that we get delivery but before we lived farther away and we were willing to make the drive. Because of their popularity, you should give it a few hours in advance to order because they are backed up. Portions are quite small compared to other places for the same price but still to us, it's worth it.

Great!. The chicken balls and chimosas are amazing! The food here is very Americanized Chinese cuisine, but spot on if that's what you're in the mood for. :)
Natalie
One of the best places for ginger beef ever. I had my first experiance at 4 seasons last night and was really impressed. You need 2 order in advance and can wait a while for delivery but dont let that deture you. Its worth the wait!!
Aunty Social
Quality Ingredients GREAT Flavour!!. When I first ordered Four Seasons I didn't expect much from a stripmall restaurant. But WOW!! Chimosa - a take on a Chinese Samosa - MUST HAVE - a beef & veggie filled pocket seasoned with garlic, ginger and a hint of curry - try it and you'll be hooked like me. Chicken Balls - it took years for me to order these because Chicken Balls are so forever ago - but did i miss out! Real chicken breast coated in a crispy, tangy batter. First ball I've enjoyed plain! Good thing the sauce comes on the side. Breaded Shrimp - nice size shrimp, lightly seasoned breading, these are soooo good! Ginger Beef- the family fights over this, so much flavour the name says it all, but if you haven't tried it from here, then you haven't tried the best (how cliche, but still true) theres so many dishes that I love, but I hope this helps you decide to try this restaurant.

1 word. Wonderful.

Take out. We have been using 4 Seasons for several years and have always been happy - until now. Meal we had was terrible. The sweet and sour ribs were very very greasy. The dry breaded shrimps were nothing but dough with tiny shrimp. Very disappointed.
Christee
Great hot food, couldn't be happier with what we ordered. Long wait but worth it
Marianne
Fantastic Food. Just ordered delivery for the first time on Saturday, January 20. While it was a very long wait - they warned me which I totally appreciate - the food was more than worth it. This is the only Chinese Restaurant I will order from in the future. We had the breaded shrimp - good. But then... we had the San Goo Dop Choy - Excellent! the Pan Fried Black Bean & Garlic Shrimp - Superb! and the Chimosa - oh my how good that was!!! and unusual. I've been burned before so didn't order that much - next time we'll try more items. This was absolutely the best I've had in years.

Best Chinese!. I don't get where all the negative comments are coming from, this is by fav the best Chinese I have ever had! I am super picky when it comes to Chinese food and have never had a problem here. Everything is always fresh and hot and tastes great. The autumn chicken is my fav. Don't listen to all the bad reviews!

Always amazing' been ordering for 20 years! Prices not bad either. So men great dishes. Mama yes chicken, crisp wonton, yngze noodles, etc
G.S.M
Perhaps the worst Chinese food I've ever had. Calling it "Chinese Food" is actually an insult to all the medicore and above establishments in the catagory. 80% of the menu is breaded deep fried buffet quality food. Nasty stuff. Do your self a favor and avoid. The worst, most unauthentic "Chinese Food" I've eaten from Vancouver to Toronto.

Love 4Seasons! Never dissapoints, always yummy! Yangtse noodles are delish and so is beef mokoweoweo!

This is THE best chinese restaurant in the city... Actually i would say in all all of western canada! My family first started eating here when we lived in the area about 20+ yrs ago & it's been my favorite ever since. I now live 45 mins away but still make the trip for take out almost once a month - it's worth it! As for the menu items my favs are the crisp wontons w/ sweet & sour sauce, the dry breaded veal, the autumn chicken, the lemon chicken, and any of the chow mien dishes. Every dish i've ever ordered has been perfect & the service is always friendly. The price is on the higher side for chinese food, but worth every penny!!

First Time... Good to Go. Order for first time about a month ago and food was great. Super busy place on weekends so be prepared for a wait around dinner time!

Nothing Great. I couldn't wait to try this restaurant as I have had numerous people tell me how great it was. The food wasn't very good at all! The Cantonese chow mein noodles were terrible and the kids even said they didn't like them.(they usually love noodles) The chicken balls were nothing special. Breaded shrimp also was not good ( small with a grainy texture) but we did enjoy the deep fried wontons.
I would never eat here again. The prices seem reasonable but the portions aren't very big. My family and I were very disappointed. I think anyone who loves this place clearly hasn't tried many other Chinese restaurants in Winnipeg.
We will stick with the China Garden on Pembina as we never have had a bad meal from there.

The meat was gritty(old) all of it was dry as if reheated from 2 days prior. The veggies were okay, steamed rice was good, so were the mini spring rolls. Would I go back? Depends on how long these cramps last.... Waste of $40.? Perhaps.. We threw out the remaining food because we didn't even feel like eating everything on our plates. Doesn't anybody know what the definition of fresh is? If the meat in all 4 dishes wasn't gritty, dry and old... The food wouldn't be too bad.....oh btw the wait time for delivery is because they have the orders sitting around until the driver is done getting Timmies for the owner! I'll be trying others before I return to this place.....
Rachelle
Can't believe this place stays in business! The food is very bland and a 3 hour wait is nuts! Hire more cooks!!! Never again! Maybe I should order 3 days in advance!

Heard many great things about 4 seasons. My experiences did not live up to the praises. First time, I called the day before as I was warned they are busy. They lost my order. Took another 3 hours to get it ready. Arrived at home (out of town) to discover they missed 2 dishes. Food was ok. But I was willing to give them another try. Second time I used their online order system. I was called to confirm my order and the time. Great I thought! I also asked that the order is double checked because I live out of town and they missed a couple dishes last time. No apology. Guess what? My order took and hour and a half longer and they missed one dish this time. The manager was rude on the phone and told me it was my fault I didn't open the bag an check myself while at the restaurant. The food was bland, greasy and my experience was a let down. Two chances, two missed opportunities.

Very good food. The food is very good. it is our most favourite chines restaurant in Winnipeg. Online ordering is confusing and annoying. Better to call.

Worst Chinese food!. I honestly don't understand why this restaurant is so busy or has so many rave reviews. The food at this restaurant is NOTHING compared to the restaurants downtown or to the ones on Pembina.

I do admit, it smells really good while you're in the strip, but honestly, I've given this place several tries and have not enjoyed ANYTHING. The dishes lack flavour, and it just doesn't seem right to me. It doesn't taste like authentic Chinese food at all. This may be one of the closer options for me for Asian food, but this definitely is not one of the best, nor is it a last resort.. I'd really rather go for the drive and grab the real Chinese food elsewhere.

The service is good, but it doesn't make me want to come back. I just really really really don't like the food, and will never go back again.

Four Seasons. I love this chinese food. My favorite Cantonese Chow Mein. This is take out only. They get very busy on holidays so be sure to order early. Open at 4Pm. I wish they would open a restaurant.
Andrea
I love this place and miss it so much since we moved to Alberta. The egg rolls are very very good the beef fried rice is the best I have ever tasted. I love the winter chicken. If u love Chinese food this is the place to go. 5 stars in my books.
AoTT
Consistent Quality. I have purchased for take out a few times and have always found the food to be consistently good in quality and taste. A couple of my favourites are the Singapore Mai-Fun (A tasty and spicy dish of Rice Vermicelli, stir-fried in curry with shredded Barbequed Pork, Fresh Shrimps and Bean Sprouts.) and the San Goo Guy Pan (Tender slices of Chicken breast, stir fried with fresh mushrooms, young corn, Water Chestnuts and fresh garden vegetables.)
Service is always super friendly also !!
Kayla L
A great restaurant but you really need to order early. They have all the great dishes you couldbthink of. I wish I could eat it everyday! Great prices too!
Cynthia V
Delish. Delicious chinese dishes, espcially liked the 4 seasons crisp wontons with Honey Garlic sauce and Mama Yee's Chicken. The curry beef had more onion than beef but the Shrimp Fiji was loaded with shrimp. The restaurant was very busy and the staff was very friendly, will order again.
Lori
Order Early. This take-out delivery place is so popular that if you don't order early, the weekend wait could be 3+ hrs, but so worth it. Christmas/New Year holidays you need to order a couple of weeks in advance. Must try's include Beef mokeweoweo (beef mok) and fried wontons with sweet/sour. Consistently awesome quality. On line ordering system is awesome. Give it a try.

I tasted some very bad Canadianised takeout in my life and 4 Seasons isn’t terrible; it isn’t great, but it isn’t terrible. The food tastes better than what you find at most Chinese buffets, but if you must order takeout, try Indian.
Zolli Pop
The prices are extremely reasonable, the ingredients are high quality, and they have never made a mistake with our order.
