Greeted very warmly at the front doors by a young girl sweeping, then our waitress, then the owner came and chatted with us, then the chef came over! Best customer appreciation I've experienced in a restaurant. Our food was the highest quality Indian cuisine. Our family's favourite was the samosas! Many Indian friends recommended it, and I wish we had tried it earlier. Clay Oven, but without the inflated price.
We had the veggie and the chicken platters--amazing. Main dish served in the middle of a circular tray surrounded by small servings of other curries/dal, raita, salad, rice, pappadum and dessert (rice pudding when we dined). Served with basket of fresh buttered naan. Best Indian food we've had in a long time and very reasonable. Also have Hakka Chinese food on extensive menu.
Casual, comfortable place--looked like main business is carryout/delivery. Highly recommend!

I find this to be one of the best Indian restaurants in the city. Thankfully there is no buffet and the food is made fresh to order. Everything we have tried over the past year has been amazing; samosas with a perfectly spiced, not mushy potato filling, various chicken curries, Vegetable Korma, naan... each dish with a varied and balanced sauce. The chai is great and lassis are made with homemade yogurt. The staff are friendly and helpful if you are patient with their shyness and lack of perfect English. Overall this has been a great food experience every time we've had the pleasure of eating at the Copper Chimney.
A wonderful Restraunt with delicious food within budget. It wouldn't be wrong if we call it the best Indian cuisine restaurant of Winnipeg. (Talking about vegetarian food) Nice ambience and compassionate staff. I am a vegetarian and always end my meal with tea. Most places have good food and bad tea because no one cares about 2.5$ tea over 20$ food. But copper chimney is exceptional. Food is great and tea is equally great. Nominal prices. Great varieties of dishes. Much better than other Indian restaurants of Winnipeg. Give it a try and you will see the difference.
Great selection, good decor, good patio. Attentive service. Food was pretty good (just not as good as Clay Oven). Bad selection of wine by the glass, and the wine menu doesn't offer a lot of information (had to ask what their house red was. And it's Peller Estates. Yuck). Long lineup to pay, they're using some ancient cash register.
First time eating here and will definitely be returning. My husband and I ordered samosas and chicken/goat platters. The food was hot and delicious with the perfect amount of spice. Naan bread was perfect. The potions were excellent as was the service. I normally go to Clay Oven for their Thali platters but the price is cheaper here and the food was just as good or better.
Just moved to St. Vital and definitely found out new favourite Indian Restaurant. The service was fantastic and our food was delicious with great spice and heat.
Food was AH-mazing! Best samosas I've had in a long time and they cover theirs with a creamy sauce to die for. Our entrees were at the spicy level we desired and the service was great despite how busy it got! Plan on going back very soon!
The service is polite and professional; very impressed with our server! Food was delicious! Comparable to the Clay Oven in what they served for their Butter Chicken Lunch platter, but different twists on everything to make it unique. Amazingly the winner for me was the curried zucchini and onions, what flavour!! Overall the food was all nothing short of deliciously well seasoned, and perfectly prepared. The prices will have me coming back on a regular basis! Great job guys!
The other day I head down St. Mary’s Road to visit The Crusty Bun. I wasn’t paying attention to the time and showed up during the noon hours. There was a very long line, so I decided I would return at a better time and date. Instead I went out the door and walked a couple of blocks south to Copper Chimney. I enjoy Indian food, and thought I might as well give this place a try.

This is the best east indian food I have had in Winnipeg. The food tastes exactly like you are eating in a restaurant in NEW DELHI.
The chef and staff is great. They will personally come and ask about the food.
Prefer to dine a la carte thats really makes huge difference.
We finally stopped here for a lunch,after much hesitation. We were hesitant because every time we drove by there were no cars in the parking lot so that always made us quite leery. But today we decided to just go in and give it a try,and we were pleasantly surprised! The interior is very nicely decorated and very clean. The cleanliness was a great sign. The server brought us waters and left the jug with us. I liked that. We wanted to order off the menu so ordered Chola bhaturas (chickpeas and deep fried Naans) OMG they were delicious! Seriously delicious. The presentation was very nice,and the food was very fresh!I We thoroughly enjoyed the food. Although we didn't have the buffet,it appeared to be very fresh and looked really good. Customer service? I can't say anything bad. What I would say is there's not much interaction but when there was it was friendly and if you need something they will attend. Overall-we would definately like to go back again.
Delicious palak paneer and naan. Excellent price. Got sick the day after, but that may have been a coincidence. Either way it's tasty enough for me to go again.
Interesting service, plastic plates, but the food is outstanding.. Arguably the best Indian Restaurant in Winnipeg. We did not have the buffet. We had Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Korma and a Garlic Naan. We'll definitely be going again and taking our friends.

Enjoyed the food! Now a regular.. I've been there three times and will make it a regular part of my restaurant-going. Each times, there were changes to the buffet, which is a good thing. There is free desert. The tandoori chicken is good, as is the butter chicken. It's at the corner of St. Mary's and Dunkirk, beside the A&W. For $14.99, I think it's a good value.

GREAT BEGINNINGS -Nice variety for small lunchtime $9.99-11.99 buffett. Fresh naan, popadom & sweets included. Balti, TikaMasala, Vindaloo, etc..good spectrum of Indian dishes for everyone. Perhaps 20 hot selections/15 cold...NONE overspiced; that's what the side sauces are for! The chef really knows spices; the blend in the side accompaniments were awesome. Gracious, efficient service, for a buffet. Will go back again!
A Must-Try. My Fiance and I stopped by Village of India randomly one night, which just happened to be their first night open. We were very pleasantly surprised! There was a huge selection of delicious things, all vegetarian. The price was great, and there's no way you could leave this buffet still hungry. It was just the right amount of spice and flavour. The staff were helpful and friendly. We will definitely be back! Very recommended if you like Indian food!
Delicious and great value. The supper buffet had a wide selection of delicious vegetarian dishes, and was an incredible value at only $12. Naan bread (plain or garlic) was included with the buffet. The salad bar looked good, but didn't get to it this time (filled up on the hot dishes). Will definitely be back soon!
I had a craving for Indian flavours and went here for the first time. It did not disappoint. Our waitress was prompt and polite. The restaurant itself is modern and clean. I like the warm colours, high ceiling and big windows. Food was full of flavour and you can adjust heat/spicy level to your liking. They have a sweets counter near the front to take some treats home if you want. I will be going back to try more dishes. Thanks 🙂
Yes they are short staff (So are many other restaurants. No one wants to work these days) but the food is good and when the waitress gets to you they are polite. The restaurant is clean and well maintained. Parking was easy and in a good area of town the dish average about $16 per dish and the portion were proper.
I got the Goat dish extra spicy and it came out flavorful and the meat was not overcooked.
I can definitely recommend this place and will revisit next time I am in town.
That's was good. The staff is so cool. Everybody is so friendly Nd treat their customers in good manner. The girl who took our order was good. Thank you to all the staff members who made our day beautiful.
Staff very helpful. Food quite delicious and tasty, a few items hot but some luke warm. Service first class n chairs comfortable. IDs checked properly at reception. Safe and secure environment. Recommend for family n friends
This is my third visit. They’ve changed their glasses for drinks to serve less volume. They were still short staffed even when the dine in capacity was 50%. Chana bhatura is a must try. Overall the food was tasty.
The quantity of individual dishes was less.
Veg thali was good except channa, thats why quantity of channa was more than other.
