Review Daly Burger - Winnipeg

COVID has kept us away; now what a delight to sit in and enjoy bacon cheeseburgers & fries with my grandson. It started with an enjoyable football chat due to my Newcastle United scarf, and ended with Winnipeg's classic, but often rarely found, double-fried chips and a loaded burger for each of us. Chili is awesome; the pickle is exactly what it ought to be; the bacon and patty are real: the taste makes me wonder why others choose national and international burger places. The fries are what they ought to be: blanched, and then deep-fried to crispy outside but soft inside. Perfect. There has been enough local support to keep DB open during the past two years. It's now time to fill the place.

The hole in the wall you’re looking for! I’ve been in Winnipeg for 2 months and I’ve eaten here more than anywhere else. Burgers are great, chili cheese fries are outstanding, and the poutine is everything you want. Do your mouth a favor, eat some Daly’s.

Lunch at Daly Burgers was fantastic! Hadn’t been in a few years, it was always very good and now it’s even better! The cheeseburgers and fries were cooked to perfection. The burgers are served on the best buns and the chili is so tasty. Excellent staff. Highly recommend!

A great little place for dine in or take out. Staff were all very friendly, including the owner who personally thanked guests and came out front to chat with a few of us. My veggie pita had too much tzatziki for my tastes, but it's a Greek place so I suppose that's to be expected! I'll just ask for light sauce next time. The other ingredients and the bread were fantastic. Partner had the double cheeseburger and fries, and said both were absolutely fantastic. We'll both be back!

Excellent food as always. Ordered pickup for a specific time and it came off the grill as I walked in and paid. Friendly staff. Only negative was seeing all the staff tightly packed behind the counter not wearing masks, bit of a surprise. Would rate five stars if they wore masks.

It's great. You walk in and everyone working treats you like they're genuinely happy you're there. Guys literally come out of the back to say hi. Can't put a price on that. Then in no time you walk out with possibly the best burger in Winnipeg.

I have been coming here since 1998 and have always loved their burgers. Moved away but whenever I'm back in town, I always stop in as I crave their deluxe double cheese burgers soo much! Their online hours were confusing so I stopped in hoping they'd be open. They are closed until January 4th and I leave the 2nd. Booo but I get it. When I'm back in in town in March I will make sure to stop in to hit my cravings!

Went tonight for this first time. My son got the poutine burger we split fries and I got the Greek burger and a banana milkshake. The food was great and portions were huge. Staff was very friendly and service was quick. Will definitely be back.

This is by far the best burger in Winnipeg!!!! Fantastic hosts Tony and Gus!!! If you have not been ...you must...and after you do you keep going and going to try all of the menu!! Never disappointed!!!

Had a Dbl Bacon Deluxe Cheeseburger with extra cheese on my lunch break. Hands down one of the tastiest patties I've ever had and I've done the winnipeg burger circuit a fair bit. The bun was amazing, awesome cheese, tasty chilli and some very fresh toppings as well. Overall one of the best burgers I've ever had anywhere. Looking forward to another visit here for sure, very glad I've rediscovered this Winnipeg Burger Gem! Thank you goes out to the team at Daly :)

Excellent Food at Daly Burgers. Tony and the gang are amazing. I had the Chicken Gyro with Greek Salad. The dressings and sauces you can tell are home made and outstanding. Highly recommended and we will be back again soon.

Daly Burger has been a long time favourite. Always consistent. A delicious, old school burger. Service is always friendly and quick. Show up hungry.

Awesome food, a perfect greasy old school burger. A little salty, but sometimes thats exactly what you want. The service was fast and very friendly, will definitely be going back.

If we are in the mood for a greasy burger we often choose Daly Burger, or even just for fries. The staff are usually very nice and the location is great. It is a little bit pricy for what it is, but overall no complaints.

I went here last night, showed up at 5:15 we ordered our food and sat down, 6pm rolls around and people are coming in and out and receiving their food. We went and asked and they had misplaced our order slip so they refunded one burger (we ordered 2 burger combos which came with 2 drinks and than ordered a fries) he assured us that our food would be ready as soon as possible and apologized. 15 minutes later we received our food, messy wrappers and all. The workers were very immature and loud, like they were trying to show off for customer, although it was extremely obnoxious! I was very disappointed in the service, and only refunding one burger is a joke, we paid 30$ for food and waited an hr! Where's the management to control their misbehaving workers! Tsk tsk!

A typical burger place. Nothing spectacular. I find their burger a bit salty for my taste. Fast service but not so friendly. Parking is a bit of a challenge.

This is my favorite burger place. Big burgers, excellent home made fries. The chili cheese fries are killer! I always get the Train Wreck burger...super messy but oh so satisfying. I never would have thought to put an egg and onion rings on a burger but its a really good combo. They are also really friendly and numerous times they have not charged me for extra chili and cheese. Great little place and I like the 1950's theme :)

The cheeseburger was very good, and I like their buns. The fries were wonderfully drowned in brown gravy and I loved it. The Greek salad was flavourless and made with iceberg lettuce, the water of vegetables. The milkshake was made with banana syrup and it was awful. Will probably not return except for fries and gravy, but even then that's a maybe.

Typical burger joint.  Atmosphere is nothing special and the food is average. If you just want some greasy diner food then this place will fit your craving.

Came here for lunch today. Burgers are tasty and the fries are decent. I think Superboys makes a better burger, but this is a close second to that.<br/><br/>I normally get the Deluxe, but got the Train Wreck today, which is basically a deluxe with egg and onion rings. It is an especially messy burger, but I managed. <br/><br/>Daly is a solid go to if you're the area and craving burger and fries.

This is a nice place to go if you are craving old style diner food. The service was good and the bathroom was relatively clean. The food is pretty much what you'd expect from a greasy spoon burger joint. A bit cheaper than Fat Burger or Nu Burger, but not as tasty.

Service is a little slow, but everything is made to order so it's not a huge deal. <br/><br/>Food is big, bad and greasy just as you'd expect. You will definitely be full after lunch here. Not bad!! I was not expecting much so I may have been just surprised by the prices and quality but I rather enjoyed myself! Cute little 50s diner ambiance which is decently clean, and a solid burger and hotdog menu which are sold separately from the fries and sides. <br/><br/>I had a train wreck burger and was hesitant because I'm not usually a fan of chili but the chili was the best part! It was very delicious! I would honestly go back just for a bowl of chili and I'm not sure I've ever said that before. Fries were only ok and a bit expensive for what they were but overall it was a tasty meal. It all tasted very fresh too, I mean, you know it's not good for you, but at least you know it was made day of!<br/><br/>Service was quick and pleasant and I can't complain.<br/><br/>I'll probably come back for some chili and to try their cappuccino milk shake!

Not a bad burger joint. Love the chili they put on the burgers, has a nice kick to it. I didn't find the burgers too greasy at all. The fries were meh, I tend to like mine on the thinner side, way too thick for my liking. It was okay... not terrible.

The Cheese Burger was not tasty and had a small patty. There was more chilli than patty! French Fries were over done and tasteless. The restaurant was clean but could use an update. Poor value for your $. Very disappointed. Self serve. People would come in from neighborhood to sit at tables use washrooms and not order food!

Horrible cashier. Im literally writing this in the restaurant. Food was decent. Young male cashier was awful. Almost no focus on guests at all. Complained about how much he hated his job. Told him I was staying here to which he made a sarcastic remark "why not everyone else is". Then I got my order and it was packed to go and he commented "its packed to go so you can text your way home". To which I said "I think ill stay here". He decided to tell me "at least I packed a fork in there for you" after offering me a tray. After this he turned to his blatently embarasses coworker and mumbled something followed by "jackass". This person knows nothing about front line service and should be returning. They should be fired. I will not be returning anytime soon

Tried it once... never again. First time i walk in and the two kids runnin the show were arguing back and forth as to which job is whos then they finally figure that out and the kid that wasnt cooking the burgers came and took my order and money.then i waited fifteen minutes listening to them argue with about fifteen customers sitting in there trying to eat dinner .i then take my burger home only to be disapointed by the bland meat and dry fries . i couldnt decide which was worse the service or the food. id go with the service being the worst actually. always helps when the owner is around babysitting. to bad there was no authority there . NEXT!!

It's a nice burger joint. When I went here, the servers were very pleasant and prepared our meals swiftly. <br/><br/>The burgers were filling and tasted wholesome, kind of like when you have a family bbq :) fresh ingredients and the patty was juicy and savory. I'd like to go back some time soon.

Great chili burgers, combo it with a poutine and you could a couple adults pretty easily.

I used to love this place, not so much now. Whitetop or Georges or superboys are better food and prices

Good chili burgers. Fair prices, good food and close to home. I tried a chili cheese burger and really enjoyed it. I also had fries, which were just okay, but I'd definitely go back for the burgers and the soft serve ice cream when it gets warmer. I like that it's all made to order and tastes more homemade than a typical burger from mcdonalds.

Boo to Daly Burgers Burger. Perhaps it is my personal taste in burgers, but it was really hyped-up and when I tried it I was thoroughly disappointed. Patty was bland and under-seasoned, didn't taste like quality beef and the bun was really unimpressive.

Embarassing service - boo to daly burgers. I've been a long time patron of Daly Burgers, since they first opened a decade or so ago. Not because the food is spectacular or even for the good service, but because it was consistent and reasonably priced. <br/><br/>However, over the last few years the quality of Daly Burgers, particularly the service, has plummeted. On the most recent visit, they brought the wrong order to our table. When we pointed this out, they didn't apologize, they just said "oh" and went back to the grill. <br/><br/>Then they started bringing the order in installments. First burger came. 10 minutes later the second burger came with a shake. Wrong order. They didn't even acknowledge the error. When we asked about the rest of the order they said they forgot about it because it was busy. It was not busy, there were only 3 other tables of two each in the shop. <br/><br/>Another 15 minutes pass and they bring the last remaining order. At this point the person I was with was done their meal and mine was just arriving. At this point I took the order and we went home. Upon arriving home the order that I waited 45 minutes to get was still not the right order. <br/><br/>The thing that really gets me isn't the time that it took, or the repeatedly wrong orders. Instead it is because they didn't apologize once, just made feeble excuses. <br/><br/>This isn't the first time this has happened; this has been a growing trend since they opened up their location on Pembina a few years back. It appears that whatever quality control they had in place before the expansion is now long gone. For goodness sake its a burger joint, not rocket science.

Delicious. I have been coming back for years. The food is delicious everything is fresh and homemade and the staff is hilarious! I'm so happy they added a hot chick who can cook a mean burger! Seriously check this place out.

Not worth your time. Made an account just to say that this place is terrible. Out of the five times i've gone to get a burger they have screwed it up at least three times. The odd time they do get the order right it's great but i've lost my patience with them now.

Last time I go they always forget stuff in the take out orders. Even when you ask the kids if they put everything in the bag. Happens on 80% of my visits to bad my $$ is going somewhere else.

Great burgers with classic greek flavor. Lots of chili on all of them too, and the fries and gravy is huge, could easily be shared. The staff is very friendly.

Best burgers in Winnipeg. Daly burgers has the best home made burgers in Winnipeg or the Country for that matter. Fries are awesome, place is clean, staff is great and prices are good. Hands down fantasic!

Nice 60s style diner. I had the beef gyro which was fresh tasting and delicious.

Why the hype?. We finally tried their burgers and hubby and I both agree they are dreadful: soggy bun, small, flavourless patty, scarce fixings. No idea how they were rated #1 burgers in Wpg. First and last time we go there.

Overpriced underpowered. I don't personally care for the way these burgers are seasoned- also the prices leave a substantial dent for the level of satisfaction.

Great food. I really love their deluxe burger, it is so great it is hard to d<br/>describe. Have been there couple times and it is always great. <br/>Only thing that was not so great was when we phoned them to place the order and after picking it up discovered that they have mixed it up or something and it was not what we were asking for. Anyway, we were too busy to back and complaint, so we had burgers they made for us, and they were good.

I really like THIS Daly Location. Daly burgers ON DALY is great. I love thier burgers, chili sauce is great, it's not a burger that you can eat neatly though! Onions rings are good too, and so are milkshakes, but they are pretty pricey. Daly on Daly is great, and the Pembina location isn't that great. SO, if you have a hankering for burgers, go to Daly on Daly.

I had their chili cheese dog, did not like it at all. Barely had any taste to it and the bun and hotdog were soggy as hell!

Sometimes, you just need a big greasy artery clogging burger. And daly burger does it well. Nothing fancy. Just a good greasy-spoon style menu.

Daly burger on DALY. This is my favourite place to get a burger and milkshake, I only go to the one on daly though as I don't find the one on pembina to be as consistent with quality. All the burgers have a chili sauce on them which I personally think is what makes these burgers soo delicious. So much flavour and so tender. Their poutine is huge and delicious as well, and their milkshakes are thick and yummy. I definately recommend this place!

Hard on your insides.. I've been to Daly Burgers a few times now, but I just cannot justify going to eat there in the future. The food is just far too greasy, even for a burger joint. <br/><br/>When ordering a burger, both the patty and bun (which is 'toasted' on the same flat top) seem as though they absorb all of the grease. Ideally I want to taste the ingredients first and foremost. Makes me wonder if they might be trying to save a few bucks by using a fattier ground beef... <br/><br/>The fries and onion rings are also, sadly, quite tasteless. I'm not quite understand how you can prepare onion rings and not have them taste like onion. I'm wondering if perhaps it is the oil they are using?<br/><br/>I will say however that the shakes are made with real milk and ice cream, and are fantastic.

Disappointed. Went there today for the first time. Why is there chilli sauce on every burger. I got a normal burger that just tasted like a sloppy joe. I totally expected a normal, hearty burger. My roommate said that her chocolate milkshake was good.

Awesome burgers the chili is one of a kind truly delish the milkshakes were thick and the poutine great portion size huge!

Sub par. I heard good things about this place and it's not really all that good at all. I wouldn't even put it on my top 5 burger joints on Pembina. In a city full of Greek places Daily Burger is near the bottom. There are so many places better to go, places down the street, places across the city I'd rather bike to or spend a half hour stuck in traffic to go eat at.

Enjoyable Meal. I think this place is in the top 5 for best burgers in Winnipeg. <br/><br/>What sets them apart is the seasoning that they add to the hamburger meat. I don't know what all is in it, but it is very tasty. The buns are fresh and tasty as well.<br/><br/>I can't comment on the fries, but I can say that the onion rings are good, but not great. <br/><br/>I found service to be friendly and prompt.

First of all I found a large difference between the way the old location on Daly versus the new location on Pemina operates. The old location still ib my opinion offers the best fast food burgers in town. The food is always hot whether for dine in or pick up with massive quantities of fries. I find the burger tastes excellent and the pricing is pretty good too. The location on Pembina still hasn't got their act together. They give you less fries (significantly less) and the burgers taste no where near as good as the Daly location.

I tried their new location on Pembina...<br/>For a burger joint that specializes in that style of food I was disappointed with the following<br/>- the fries were tasteless, extra greasy, and seemed like they hadn't been cooked properly<br/>- the only options for serving sizes were way to huge and the price was pretty huge to match!<br/>- the staff acted quite crude and unprofessional while I was there (I know this isn't sit down cuisine, but decency is important!)

Not the same.. About 5 years ago I used to go to Daly burgers on a semi-regular basis, when the owner Gus used to be out front every day. At the time, these were easily the best burgers in the city. Since then, Gus sold the place, and it just seems like it's gone downhill to being only average.

HUGE portions. I went here a while ago with my sister looking for a quick bite to eat... well my sister wanted a burger and fries and I wanted a burger and poutine but the cashier warned the portions were big and we should only order 1 burger and 1 poutine to share... lucky we listened because we were stuffed ...
