I'm a regular and I'm here about once a month, usually after 8pm. The food is always consistently good. I'm a dim sum fan and everything is good. The servers are always polite and can offer suggestions, just ask. Most nights, there are between 15 - 20 people. The prices are excellent.
This place is a hidden gem for dim sum lovers. It is in the China Town, in a very crappy looking neighbourhood but food is delicious. They have happy hours from 2-10 on dim sums. Food is really delicious and worth a try. We ate a lot and still it was not heavy our pockets.
Honestly I don't know what this place isn't rated higher! Everything was so good! Literally no complaints! Can't wait to go again! Shrimp-stuffed tofu was probably my favourite, but everything was scrumdidiliumptious!
I cannot get over how fresh, hot and delicious everything was. The sticky rice was amazing and tasty, but it was the Chinese perogies that most impressed me. The pork inside was really well-seasoned, but the dough was something really special. It was crispy on the outside, a little bit gooey and sticky inside, and a bit sweet as well. The sweetness went perfectly with the pork inside.
My only complaint was that the Vietnamese spring rolls were way too oniony for my taste. All in all though, this was the best dim sum I've had in Winnipeg.
One of the best dim sum menus in the city for the price, especially during happy hour. Easily 20-30 choices, with literally only 1, yes 1, excluded from the happy hour price. Service is very quick. We usually order 15 or so dims and they are out on the table in 10-15 mins. The size of each dim is also very generous for the price.
Was looking for a cheap place to have a snack after a doctor's appointment and heard from my mom that this place has dim sum for a discount from 2:00-close. Pretty much everything on the dim sum menu was $2.70 and is an amazing deal compared to what some restaurants charge.
Service is prompt though some of the wait staff don't speak English too well. The kitchen was also very fast as we started getting food in under ten minutes!
The quality of dim sum is on par with what I'd expect, but at the discount price, this is awesome. I have come to Sam Po for dinner with family before and never realized we could order some dim sum as appetizers. Definitely will be coming back for more.
Taste is good ,we have shrimp dumpling sweet sour pork and Gai Lan vegetable .everything looks fresh and taste so I would like go it again Hhhhh
It's convenient if you want a quick fill and cheap especially during happy hour for dim sum.
I like how instead of waiting for a cart to circle around and choose my food from that I can order from the dim sum menu and get what i want. Its not the best but can't really complain with the price. It's quick and only downside is finding parking the customer parking area fills up fast.
Happy Hour 2-10pm (I think Mon-Sun)
Fast service, nice and clean atmosphere. Friendly staff. Food was great. Will definitely come back. Their Mango Pudding was my favourite.
I LOVE THIS PLACE. We do everything here, birthdays, nights out, lunches. My kids love this place and all of their dumplings. The room is nice but the carpets could use some love. Even their banquets are a good eat.
On my birthday I choose to eat at my favourite oriental food place the Noodle Express. The meals have always been delicious and so fresh tasting. The service friendly and fast. The atmosphere enjoyable and ethnentic. There can be line ups to get in but it is because the food is good. Worth the wait. I have gone there and not had to wait it depends on the hour you go.
I'm a kind of girl who likes breakfast for breakfast, and lunch for lunch. But sometimes, on occasion, I'm all for breaking the rules. Namely, dim sum for dinner. Lucky for me, I know someone, who is practically almost always game for anything, as long as it doesn't involve trekking through the snow in -40 degree weather.
Sam Po has the best dim sum in Winnipeg. It's cheap and delicious, enough said. The service isn't great, but overall not a deal breaker. Every Winnipeger needs to go.
Sam Po is one of the best dimsum places to go to in Winnipeg. I have eaten here for a couple of times already and I like their food. If you're looking for a cheap place to eat at, you should definitely check this place out especially during their happy hour.
Food is pretty! I recommend the Singapore noodles (stir-fried rice vermicelli seasoned with curry powder, bean sprouts, bok choi, soy sauce, pork and sliced chilli peppers), a delicious dish. Make sure to try their pineapple buns!! The best I've tried in the city! :)
Best dimsum place in the city. Happy hour after 2pm-10pmish. Everything in their dimsum menu is ~2$ each.
I always get the pork dumplings pan fried, golden egg buns for dessert (sweet and yummy), pork and leek buns, stuffed green peppers, any of the dumplings (there are a lot)...really, you cant go wrong.
We always order and eat way too much but its just so yummy. If you stuff yourself and take home leftovers, its no more than 20$ before tip. And you should tip. ;)
Good, cheap and fresh dim sum in the heart of Chinatown. The place is newly renovated and all of the dim sum dishes are $2.60 each after 2pm every day for happy hour.
A delicious bargain.
Went to Sam Po Saturday night around 9pm. The place was still busy, bustling with customers. It was during their Happy Hour special.
The food was okay, not the best dim sum but definitely a good value for the price. Service was a bit slow but servers were friendly.
Overall, not bad!
I used to think I hated dim sum till I found this place. Amazing service and food. Great prices too. I would definitely go back there again.
Overall Sam Po was above average dim sum. Sporting a handsome restaurant and offering tasty food, it should be a staple on the Winnipeger's list of dim sum restaurants. Definitely not the best in town but decent enough and will suffice if in a pinch or in the area.
Food is good. Prices are good. Service isn't awesome but generally speaking for the area service isn't always stellar. Recommend if you got the craving for dim sum!
Wow ! Newly renovated an dim sum happy hour from 2-10?! AMAZING. Me and my boyfriend had 8 dishes dor 20 bucks! So good and I love how they renovated !
Same as noodle express, which I liked . I got good service. loved the food!
I enjoyed the old Noodle Express very much and am very glad they got a bigger location. The menu has a few additions and the ones I have tried so far are great!
Edit:
Since the previous review I found the food quality has improved. Less oily! Their menu has expanded a bit, too. Favourites are the seafood dumpling and tofu with shrimp inside.
Service still could be better! But out of all the dim sum places in the city, if you take quality and price into account, this place is probably the best value. :D

Basically Noodle Express version 2. It's pretty much the same restaurant. Same owners, same employees, same menu (with some additions - pineapple buns and other desserts aren't just weekend only, and they now have deep fried stuffed tofu), same happy hour, etc. Only change is the name and the decor is much nicer here. Food was OK, not my favourite - had we known it was basically Noodle Express we would have stayed away, what we didn't like about Noodle Express was the service was not good and food was too oily for our tastes - this place suffers from the same problem. We were there for two hours and we had to basically chase down the employees to get some service around here.
The original Noodle Express is across the street still open, perplexing to me why they chose to open a second location with a different name. Kind of misleading but whatever.
Tried this for the first time and it was delicious. Food quality and taste was exceptional. I would definitely recommend this place.
Located in the heart of Winnipeg China Town. This dim sum joint is rather popular for many locals. Happy hour starts at 2pm. But, don't limit yourself to just the dim sum items. The full menu has alot to offer. I've posted pictures of a few items off the menu that I enjoyed
One of the better dim sum places in the city. I recommend that Ginger beef highly.
It was one of the best Dim Sum I had in a long time. Almost taste like Vancouver or San Francisco. And the egg tarts are to die for... Enjoy!!!
It was excellent. Fast friendly and yummy food 😋
Got a lot of food for $150. Service was slow. But would definitely go again for Happy hour after 2 pm
Finally went back in a long time. Food was nice to have again. Didn’t get to go during happy hour but wanted to beat any rush of people because of Covid. Just in case. However it is still dim sum and it has always been a good experience.
