Review Applebee's - Winnipeg

Carrie Stein
Took my teens out for dinner. Their first time at Applebees. Food was wonderful, service was great, the whole experience was 10/10. Our server, Mckenzie? It was her 3rd shift, she was absolutely fantastic, there was no shift in her energy, even in the mide of a dinner service peak.

Great service. Ordered take out for Remembrance Day and my wife and I were complimented our meals. They wouldn't even let me tip. No hassle very friendly staff.
Jean-Louis DeClercq
Great food, service was a little slow but still friendly. Portions were nice. French onion soup was ok a little too salty.

Applebee’s is easily one of my family’s top 3 favourite restaurants to eat at, but tonight it became our top favourite due to the amazing service that Esther B gave us. She was very attentive and accommodating. Her demeanour was warm & welcoming and her energy was extremely contagious. It wasn’t just our table that noticed how wonderful of a waiter she is- I noticed all of her tables were happy & smiling. I look forward to seeing her again soon! Thank you Esther for your amazing customer service!

Brought my wife and kids there and it was fantastic. Wasn't very busy but our food came fast and hot. The kids menu has a very good selection and my daughter got to have her favourite ribs and Cesar salad. Unfortunately they were sold out of the dressing for the oriental salad so my wife had to get the quesadilla burger but that was still really good. Will be going back again soon.

I absolutely love this Applebee's on Regent in Winnipeg MB. It's the second time there. It reminds me of the TV show Cheers where even if they have never met you they treat you like you are a regular; like everyone knows your name. As a recently out gender fluid male to female with my wife and family celebrating our daughters graduation of kindergarten. Sharing hair tips with staff and loving the inclusive nature of the location. Our reservation got mixed up and they still made it work! If you want to go somewhere you will feel welcome and comfortable this location is where to go. Though we ate indoors this time it has a lovely patio as well. We don't go out often but we will be back to Applebee's on Regent. My 6yr old daughter says so because almost all the people are like daddy and so nice. ❤️ Even the grandparent approved ❤️

It was good food, service was very friendly, however I got a steak and shrimp skillet, nowhere on the menu did it say it was not, in fact, steak and shrimp but actually steak tips and shrimp, the steak tips were tough and very hard to chew, however the shrimp and the mashed potatoes I had were very good, I've been here many times and have enjoyed myself each and every time. Would definitely recommend it.

We usually go to this location once a month sometimes only 2 of us, mostly with 3-4 ladies, and generally it's a good visit. And we love the cheap monthly drink specials! My friend and I had the worst experience this evening at the Regent Ave location. Tonight wasn't terribly busy and seemed to have adequate front of house staff, but multiple dirty tables all night long. We waited legit 10+ minutes after being seated. Never acknowledged, no nothing. So we moved ourselves and our menus to the bar instead. Nothin. We looking around, all wide eyed, clearly looking for service. Easily 5+ minutes and hostess and server realize the table we originally sat at no longer has 2 ladies seated there and then sees we moved. So a different server came and took our order. Drinks took forever. Food not terribly long, but arrived before cutlery and condiments. Messed up my "no crispy onions on top". I had no interest in waiting for a redo and wasn't gonna say anything. But server noticed me picking it off and said the kitchen must have messed up and she was gonna talk to the kitchen and her manager. Tacos were meh. Coleslaw was no good. My microwaved broccoli was dry and not buttered or seasoned. I never use salt and I had to use salt. There was no follow up of how we're doing except when the server brought us a drink that neither of us ordered! We asked for a to go box THREE times. The 3rd time, my friend had to walk up to a group of 3 workers to ask for the box. I gave my leftovers to my dad who eats anything, and he requested i never bring him food from that place again.

Service was extremely poor, waited 15 minutes before serving staff even took notice that we were without drinks or appetizers. Another 27 minutes till the main course was at our table... The other table finally got to place their order with a waitress.. I will not be returning and any mention of this place will be met with 20 thumbs down Applebee’s headquarters?? You need to fire all that staff there !!!! Including the manager

I would've given 5 stars but the service...well waiting for it...Took 10 minutes while our waiter walked by 5 times..had to flag our hostess who then sent us a different waiter which was a darn good idea. Finally got some water and order taken. He was awesome and so was the food.

Absolutely amazing experience! We took our 4 year old there yesterday for a little birthday party with friends. Our waitress was fantastic!!!!! I have a gluten sensitivity so it was nice to see so many options available. Can't remember last time I had a gluten free chicken burger as good as this one! Deeeeelish! Will definitely be back! Thank you for a great little birthday party.

Char-lyn Neil
Our server was excellent and when my side was not to my liking she replaced it no fuss It was a busy nite but the meal was good and hot

It's an "ok" place. Food was ok, service was good. It's loud and you feel a bit pressured to leave when you are eating. I'm not sure if I will return.

First time I've been to an Applebee's, not what I expected at all, actually not sure what I was expecting but I wasn't expecting to have one of the best darn steaks I've ever had in a restaurant ... good atmosphere, great food, and super service
Aaron Lamb
Applebee's has always been a fairly okay place to dine good for the family as well. However today our experience was rather fantastic all due to our server her name was April. She was very attentive quick happy to help even though we're a little hard to work with having a little baby with us and always smiling. Good job April at

Service was awesome even though the place was packed. Meals were quite good except the Caesar salad had a bit too much dressing.
Brenda Deroche
The staff is always friendly and smiling. The food is consistently excellent and served timely, even when busy. We especially love the service that Pam gives; she is so friendly and bubbly, we keep coming back regularly.

My wife & I have been going to this location for years . Always great food & service . The 18 oz. Stella ain’t to shabby either !

Why would anyone think its ok to put lettuce in your fiesta lime roll up? ive ordered this numerous times and it was great but this time went through skip the dishes and it came with hot, mushy, soggy lettuce loaded inside of it. I couldnt eat it, thats how gross it was. I definitely wont order it again. I still enjoy applebees but this order was a complete fail.

Went with my girlfriend and her kids to celebrate a new job. Please note the restaurant and bar were dead. Asked about the Canadian Back Bacon sliders and was told by our server " Not Recommended " who says that. Anyways thats not the issue. The issue is a ordered the Bacon Burger and they obviously rushed making it and it looked like something i would have tried to put together 3 sheets to the wind at 3am. Now i don't normally bring this stuff up but this is by far one of the worst experiences i've ever had. I wish i had a taken a picture to show you. " Yikes " The really sad part is all the other meals at the table looked really good so not to make an effort on one is absolutely pathetic. The server even wrote down my order and still forgot. I will have a really diffeclt time to recommend your location to family and friends in the future.

entrrees arrived 5 minutes after our appetizers were served, no salt or sugar on table, restauraunt FREEZING COLD as was the ladies bathroom, waitress not very attentive and when another employee(may have been manager) was told about the coldness in the building she just laughed and said it is always like this
Topher Chris
The food is great! But what keeps us coming back is Pam at the Regent location... treats us like family! Remembers us every time!
Nikita Strong
Food is amazing! Love the spinach dip I got full off that alone. Going back to try out more menu options.

I’ve been to Applebee’s a few times (friends and family of mine for some reason enjoy it).

We started with spinach artichoke dip and wonton tacos. The dip was incredibly bland and was microwaved instead of baked to heat it up.. served with taco chips which is very odd but I see more and more places doing that so I guess it’s a trend? The wonton tacos were delicious however!

For my main I had the fish sandwich, fries, and Caesar salad. The fish sandwich itself was quite good. Fries were processed but it’s a chain so that’s to be expected. The Caesar salad tho..... it was by far the worst I’ve ever had. The dressing was incredibly sweet and a very odd consistency... it did not stick to the lettuce just kinda slid off. The lettuce itself had a very chemically taste to it.

Our server was the guy with the hair (you’ll know who it is when you see him) and he was absolutely awesome! Very friendly and attentive.

I do not blame the Applebee’s cooks for the unpleasant food. It is completely out of their control. The real issue with Applebee’s is corporate where they come up with these awful recipes.

Food is not like it use to be. Quality should be a lot better. Service needs to improve. Would not recommend to spend your hard earned money here.

The service always seems to be on point! Very friendly staff and the food is basic but tasty. We had the "All you can eat" riblets, chicken fingers and/or shrimp $18.99. You also receive a tiny cup of coleslaw and the whitest french fries I have ever seen. Their desserts are always good also, they were out of their signature brownie dessert though.

Dined here this week and was impressed. Service was excellent and the menu very interesting. Great value in my opinion. The Oriental chicken salad, French onion soup and breadstick were all delicious.

Came for a bite to eat after work one evening. Clean restaurant with speedy service. Buffalo chicken burger was great and side of gravy was not expensive. Overall good but nothing special.

Out of all the locations in the city, I've had this best service at this one. The manager was on the floor, helping his staff and checking on patrons which is great to see. The food is pretty typical of this type of franchise establishment, not terrible but not spectacular either.

Went there with my hubby and 8 month old baby for lunch. We were seated immediately in the dark back corner. We were greeted fairly quickly by our server. We ordered off the lunch menu. My hubby had the ultimate grilled cheese blt which came with fries and I had the Chicken fajita roll up which also came with fries and was told I couldn't substitute it for a salad or soup. I would have preferred a salad. Our food arrived quickly. Our fries were way too salty. My wrap was delicious but my husband's sandwich was far off from "ultimate" since the cheese was cold and definitely not grilled in any way. We didn't get an opportunity to tell our server if it was good or not because she didn't bother to come check on us until half way through our meal and at that time she didn't even bother to ask but thought it would be a good idea to drop off our bill while we were still eating. That is such a huge insult to me. It really makes you feel rushed to leave. We weren't offered dessert or refills on our pop. We actually had our dessert picked out but we were over the bad service that we ended up not even bothering. It probably would have ticked off our server because she would have had to print us a new bill. At the end of our meal we filled out a survey at the front and it offered that a manager could contact us about our bad experience and that never happened either. We definitely won't be back.

I've been to Applebee's a couple of times and never really been impressed, my boyfriend was surprised at this and insisted we go together. It was a holiday Monday and there were only a few other tables so it was very fast service. I got the chipotle chicken wrap with the orchard salad which was so delicious, and my boyfriend got the quesadilla burger with potato bacon soup. My favorite part was a spicy Mexi-ranch sauce and the pico de gallo on my wrap, so so yummy and also reasonably priced we will return 😀

Have been avoiding this place for a long time, I ended up being pleasantly surprised! The food wasn't bad at all but I could see how a negative opinion on the place could happen. Tables were not cleared as they should have been but the server was super friendly and make sure all food ordered was to our liking
Thatwalleyeguy
Horrible. My Frozen deep fried fish was mushy and Frozen Fries Yummy ..NOT
Way over priced for frozen food , Chicken fingers included.
And the waitress should wash her shirt more than once a month she had more food on her than on my plate . Disgusting.
One out of ten would be generous .

One word. Yuck

Never order food from a photogenic menu. I have never been to Applebee’s. I wish I could still say that.
While we were waiting to be seated I was suddenly startled when someone started yelling and was attempting to draw attention to a 52 year old gentleman who was celebrating his birthday. I honestly thought that this was a patron who maybe had one too many cocktails and was attempting to draw some attention to his pal. It was really loud and extremely annoying. I finally looked up and discovered that it wasn't an intoxicated buddy, it was an Applebee’s server screaming across the restaurant. This ridiculous preamble was concluded with the singing of happy birthday. The birthday shouting introductions were repeated three more times while we were dining.
We were sat at a table and handed menus. The host told us about the specials. I was standing right beside him and couldn't hear a word he said.
We ordered the appetizer – Sweet Potato Fries with creamy garlic aioli and their “Signature” dipping sauce (it tasted like a mild sriracha mayo). Before we could move on with the order, our server recommended the Spinach and Artichoke Dip, he told me it is his favorite. Ok, I’ll order that too(?). Entrée - We ordered two Napa Chicken & Portobello entrees. The menu has a gorgeous photo with the words “BIG FLAVOUR” over the photo. I was looking forward to dinner, I love mushrooms. I ordered a Mucho Size Spicy Caesar. Sounds great and the photos in the menu are gorgeous.
We sat by the windows on the west side of the restaurant where we could watch traffic on Lagimodière Blvd. I counted two fire trucks and one ambulance while we were waiting for the appetizers. The Sweet Potato Fries were $8 – this was the only menu item that I enjoyed. The Spinach and Artichoke Dip $10 was lame. It came with a side dish of salsa. It’s listed as “Chipotle Lime Salsa” – it was more like mild tomato salsa. This was delusional photogenic menu item #1. The photo in the menu looks tastier that the bowl of melted cheese that I was served.
Entrée – Napa Chicken & Portobello $17. I think my idea of a Portobello mushroom is far too elaborate for Applebee’s. This was delusional photogenic menu item #2. Menu description “A grilled chicken breast topped with Portobello mushrooms and onions smothered in a rich red wine sauce and Parmesan cheese. Served over sautéed zucchini, mushrooms, roasted red peppers, red onions and crispy red potatoes.” That’s what I ordered. I received an overcooked freezer burned chicken breast smothered with unfavorable non-photogenic canned mushrooms and one slice of zucchini. Roasted red peppers and red wine sauce? While I was trying to enjoy this overpriced, overcooked, unfavourable entrée, some idiot was screaming birthday introductions on the other side of the dining room.
Spicy Caesar – I always enjoy a spicy Caesar. The Applebee’s Caesar was disappointing. This is the first time I ever sent my cocktail back to the bar. (I was not refunded). I was served a large caldron shaped salt rimmed glass. The odd thing is that the salt was on 4/5 of the rim, one section was clean. The glass was full of ice, I have never seen a cocktail served like this. The celery stalk was YELLOW, limp and lifeless. The wedge of lime looked like it had been out in the sun and then tortured with a hair dryer. The beverage had no flavour. I could not distinguish Clamato juice, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, or vodka. It didn't taste like a Caesar and there was no spicy zing whatsoever.
This Applebee’s restaurant is located on sacred grounds. I miss the Chi Chi’s Mexican Restaurant.

Classic family diner, delicious and fresh, with friendly service. I come to Applebees every birthday.

Good Steak. Shared the 2/$30 offer with my daughter. We had the steak wonton tacos to start. Nice and crunchy and the steak pieces had a lovely sauce with a bit of a bite. I would have those just on their own, they were so good. She had shrimp and fries meal. The shrimp looked nice and crispy and said they were very good. I had the 7 oz steak and substituted fries for potatoes. The steak was cooked perfectly as ordered (medium well) and tender and juicy. The waiter brought it out with the garlic mashed potatoes and I told him I ordered fries. He apologized and returned with the fries. They were not hot but okay. I hated the vegetables though. Was simply the frozen bagged kind. The zucchini and broccoli were mush and the carrots were still hard.

The server was attentive if not too friendly. He tried making small talk but it just sounded fake and forced.

I would go back just for those steak tacos.

Customer. My husband and I went to Applebee's on regent for lunch on Friday, Feb.7/14...we were seated right away, given a menu, and then we waited....10 min....15 min....20 min.....and still no service, so we got up and as we were leaving, the hostess said something to assume that we enjoyed our meal and come again...we told her that we were leaving as we had not been served, at all....no coffee, water, no server...very disappointed with Applebee's....the food is great, but if you cannot GET served....what good is that....Joan

For a chain, it's quite good. I enjoy the meals here, but i do feel some are over-salted. And 20.00 for pasta seems quite a bit. However they have some good chicken and steak options.

Great taste, so-so value. Mmmmmmm, ages since I've been to Applesbees - let's go there tonight! Riblet Platters all around please - one with fries, one with mashed potatoes.

THE FOOD: Just right. It was out to us in a timely manner, warm plates, well presented (see the pic - the bad lighting doesn't do it justice...). The potatoes were creamy and lightly salted and the coleslaw was tasty as usual. And the star of the show - the Riblets - mmmmmm! While the sauce does make them what they are, it helps that they are cooked just tender enough to almost fall off the bone. Taste Score: 5 out of 5.

THE VALUE: Not very impressed. The Riblet platter is $15.99 - one would think that the fries that come on the side would be uncountable (that means a decent pile). Although I had the mashed, the other person had fries and I counted about 15 or 16. And the coleslaw was basically a tablespoon or so. What ever happened to decent portions? It feels like someone's weighing these sides and only "xx" ounces are permitted.

SUMMARY: I'll go back. The food is tasty, the atmosphere is fun as always. The servers are attentive as they can be even while having to cover so many tables (kudos to them). And the menu selections are good also - something new every now and then keeps us coming back.

Salty and disappointing. You do not belong at Applebee's. Not worth going here. They put salt on everything - a lot of salt. It's also soggy. I've been here a few times, thinking my last meal was maybe just bad luck. But nope, this is always disappointing, blech with poor/minimal service and mediocre food. Even the fries aren't good - it's hard to believe that a restaurant could screw up on fries. I don't know how they do it. Why did I go back? My kid likes the included desert (hot fudge sundae) and I'm a softy. But from now on we can go somewhere else and go out for desert another time.
Keena
Specifically went there for something kid friendly. While they have what looks like a great kid menu, the item we ordered was pathetic at best in looks and taste. Other problems with our meals as well and serving staff seemed content to just send over the mgmt to smooth things over....seemed like an hourly occurrence for the managers!

Just Keep on Driving..... Yesterday we decided to take a break from the office and head on down to Applebee's for lunch. We had the 2/$25 special and chose the Southwest Shrimp Fettucine and the Spinach and Artichoke Dip as our shared appetizer. We also ordered individual French Onion soup. The service was slow, and one of the ordered French Onion soups failed to arrived. The soup was just so-so, and lukewarm. The quality of the pasta and sauce (the server had kindly obliged to substitute a cream sauce) was very tasteless. The Spinach and Artichoke dip barely passed muster. We substituted Cheese Toast for Garlic Toast, which was frankly the most enjoyable part of the meal. Service was slow, although the restaurant was practically empty. The meal with tip came to just over $52. We will not be returning to this Applebee's location. The service and quality of the meal just don't justify the price.

Yuck. I have not been there in so long because of the food and service was terrible. I heard that there was new management, so I thought I would try it out. still terrible. I waited 15 mins to be seated (there were only two other customers in the restaurant). Then when some one finally asked to seat us they had asked the ppl behind us who had just come in. It seems like there is a bunch inexperience kids running this place as well as no one seems to care how they are representing their company. They are only there for the cheque.

Wha????. The only thing I can say that was good about our experience here was that the manager could see we were disgusted and comped us. I mean really, when you burn the batter on fish and somehow how the fish is still raw that takes shear talent. He took one look at it and walked away bringing us an altered bill. It was so terrible that I wouldn't have said a word but the man insisted like a manager that knew his kitchen was letting the front of the house down.

Great quesadillas and chicken fingers & fries. Place where their appetizers are better than their entrées I'd say.

Bleh. Haven't been to Applebee's in forever, we went last week and tried their steak penne, ewww. The pasta sauce tasted watered down and the steak was so salty. We were disappointed that the fries are not seasoned as before, they used to have these dill seasoned fries, but no more. We do love their oreo cookies shakes.

Not a good experience yet. We went to Applebee's for my little sister's birthday party and what should have been a nice little event was marred by awful service, extra long wait times and just bad food. There was no apologies from any staff and no compensation regardless of the complaints. The food is greasy and never tastes fresh.
I've had better luck with other Applebee's locations but almost never at this one.
Susanne
Never again.. Took a lot of convincing for my friends to go with me, since they were set on another restaurant. But they eventually agreed. We walked in there mid-day. Right away we had the hostess approach us and lead us to our table, where we were told that our server will be right with us....
.......
......
40 minutes later.. our server did not even show. The most upsetting part was the fact that there were several waitress'/ waiters sitting at the bar/lounge area, yet had no problem ignoring us. When we gathered up to leave, we told one of them that we will be leaving because of the wait. They did not bother to care, no apologizing, no nothing.
Brian
I'm not a big fan of the chain restaurants, but the Won Ton Tacos that these guys make are really quite good.

There's not a lot to them, just a crispy won ton wrapper, a little sweet and sour pork, topped off with a little slaw.......I think I could eat a dozen.

Service has been very good any time I've been there, but that being said, the place has usually been nearly empty.
Rachel
Great food. The food here is good, I've never had a bad meal there. Also, the servers are very friendly. The specials for $9.99 are a great deal! And they are quite delicious.
Shay S.
New look is awesome, food is always delicious, 9 out of 10 times the service is phenomenal, friendly and fast. Only downside can be that it can be noisy due to how busy it is :) quesadilla burger is delish!

Never again! Last time my family ate here we has to send our dinners back because they were cold. This time, my steak was overcooked, and the replacement steak was not ready before the rest of my party had finished their meals. When I complained, our server proceeded to argue with me and "teach" me why a steak takes longer to cook at a restaurant. What a waste of time!

Impressed!. Ok so I am not usually super excited to eat at major chains. But it had been a while since I was in an Applebee's. So I wasn't "overexpecting" anything. Little did I know that they were about 20 min till close. Our server (who shall remain nameless) seemed very happy to serve us (I'm sure she just wanted to go home) which was very commendable. We decided to go with the 2 for $25 deal at the time. Spinach and Artichoke Dip was not good. Very buttery/greasy. The Bacon cheeseburger was tasty....but just a burger. However, the Fiesta Lime Chicken was excellent. The service definitely made it this time here.
