Review Rudy's Eat And Drink - Winnipeg

Ritik Pahlua
Rudy's Country Store and Bar-B-Q is a barbecue restaurant established in Leon Springs, a district of San Antonio in the U.S. state of Texas in 1989.[1] The company operates restaurants in Texas, Arizona, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Colorado, and Florida and sells products online. Rudy’s perennial best-seller is brisket, with other popular offerings including turkey, chicken, pork ribs, sausage, chopped beef, pulled pork, and prime rib. Sides include coleslaw, cream corn, spicy pinto beans, new potatoes, potato salad and bread. Soda and beer are sold as beverages and both feature regional selections. Rudy’s also serves breakfast tacos in the morning, which can be made to order or bought from the “grab-and-go” selection in the country store.[6]

We went for a couple of drinks. The glass where one of the drinks was served in was dirty and had lipstick residue that was very visible. It was pretty shocking. I can understand things can happen but what’s even more upsetting is that no one really addressed it. The server brought another drink and she barely made eye contact and I’m not even sure she said sorry.

An unexpected surprise in downtown. Comfortable, almost retro interior. Great service. Food was above normal bar expectations. Definitely worth a stop.

Fantastic downtown place to eat. Our waitress Jusstice was absolutely fantastic. Highlight of our visit(s). Highly professional with speech and body language, knows the menu inside & Out. Just watching her serve other parties was a treat seeing how she handle various clientele. She would check up on us regarding how our food is tasting and she would see that we just stuffed our faces full of food and she would ask a yes or no question (which could be answered with a simple nod) and leaves, which is absolutely appreciated by because you don't need to clear your face or look like that guy who's trying to talk with their mouth full. I ordered the BLT wrap both times I went, it came with their signature Russian dressing and it was the best wrap I've ever had. It was stuffed full of bacon the dressing with just enough on the outside it was crunchy was well put together, and a side of fries was very tasty as well. Excellent, although somewhat pricey, dining experience.

We went as a group here for Poutine week. This was not my favorite poutine, however it was a great hit with some others in my party. It was a slow roasted Piri piri chicken with a tangy gravy, cheese curds and sharp cheddar. Smoky, sweet grilled pickled peppers, scallions, cilantro, cherry tomatoes and creme fraiche. There was dueling pianos as free entertainment when we went. The service was for the most part very good (it depends on your server and we were served by 2). Parking is downtown parking. Its a bit problematic, but if you don't mind walking, there is a parking garage nearby.

Nice atmosphere and patio area. Service is great and the Manager CJ is always willing to jump in and lend a hand to his staff. Retro 80's music was a blast from the past. Lost a star because I wasn't given cutlery for a take out order. Lots of different beers on tap.

We spent our first evening in Winnipeg here and the experience was fantastic. Awesome shots, cocktails, and food! Also, our waiter gave us great recommendations of other things to do!

They are incredibly accommodating staff, absolutely wonderful, safe space for a date 10/10 honestly amazing service and great food

I had supper this evening at Rudy's Eat and Drink.<br/><br/>Wednesday nights are wine nights ... 5 ounce glasses of wine were $5 and 9 ounce glasses of wine were $7. Right on!<br/><br/>I ordered The Beef with garlic mash and no veggies. The garlic mash were good. The steak was okay. I ordered it medium well and it arrived medium rare (there was blood seeping).<br/><br/>Hank was my server and he took good care of me.

Excellent location prior to a Jets game with decent service but food and drinks are quite pricey. $27 pre-tax for goat cheese naan ($15 alone) and one drink seems steep. Most items on the event menu seemed overpriced. Two days earlier, I got a full meal elsewhere for the exact same price of my appetizer here.<br/><br/>There are much better restaurant choices downtown that offer more value for your money. I don’t feel the need to dine here again, although what I had was tasty and filling.

Food was delicious, staff seemed very annoyed that we were dining there. We had to go to the bar to ask for a bottle of wine because our server never came back to our table, which they then acted extremely annoyed about for some reason. Kitchen is on point, servers definitely need some hospitality training.

Hello all<br/>Just went for a quick lunch at Rudys today<br/>Food was so stunning <br/>Great atmosphere <br/>Nice staffs<br/>But only negative was service slow, which in terms of considering food quality can be ignored...

This place is hidden in the back of the Hydro building on Portage ave.<br/>Been here a few times for lunch... The first time I had the heart attack sandwich (forgot what it was called but it had a dozen strips of bacon on it) with some kind of soup (mushroom I think) and really enjoyed myself.<br/><br/>The second time I had some kinda of steak bites thing (the sandwich was gone from the menu, may have killed too many people) I really enjoyed it (and so did the wasp hanging around my table)  I also had the french onion soup and it was pretty good but not particularly memorable.<br/><br/>The atmosphere was nice and the staff were quick and friendly.<br/><br/>Would go back when in the area.

Great appetizers, especially on the monday special of 3 appetizers for $24. The appetizers are quite large well worth the regular price but even better on Monday.

I recently visited Rudy's with a friend during the lunch rush, and luckily, for being such a beautiful day, we were sat right away on the patio. I have been to Rudy's before on a few occasions, and the only reason I gave them a 3.5 is because they actually have the best chicken fingers in the city. Even better than Mitzi's. They will blow your mind. Crunchy. Moist. Well seasoned. Perfection. But that's about the only thing that has blown me away with Rudy's, unfortunately. (which is actually enough for me to come back, but that's besides the point!)<br/><br/>The service we received this past visit wasn't great. It took a good 15 minutes before our server came over to our table to take our drink orders. There was someone else who brought our meals to the table, and when he saw there was a giant wasp circling our food, his comment was something along the lines of  "Oh that sucks!" and did nothing about it. He offered fresh ground pepper to my friend, who had ordered the perogies, and ground it on one spot in the middle of his plate, and that was it.  I ordered the fish tacos, thinking they'd be okay to order (being lactose intolerant) seeing as there's no mention of dairy in the description, and traditionally I don't think there isn't cheese or sour cream on fish tacos...but alas, my tacos came to the table, with sour cream squeezed on them. Perhaps it was my fault for having an allergy and not bringing it up and I was prepared with pills on me, however if i hadn't been, this would've been an issue. I find it funny they mention the salsa verde, and the pico de gallo, but not the sour cream? After we were done, my friend requested a double espresso, however they couldn't make it but the waiter suggested an Americano (which didn't make sense because he just said they couldn't make espresso?). Anyways, he brought a coffee to the table, and didn't offer any cream or sugar. My friend had to go into the restaurant to find someone to get some cream for his now lukewarm coffee. <br/><br/>Maybe the waiter was having an off day, which is understandable, but there was no apology on his part for the lack of service or even an explanation. He seemed kind of clueless, actually. <br/><br/>But like I said...I'll still go back solely for the chicken fingers. They're insane.

Terrible, Terrible, Terrible. The food sucks, the service is terrible. God forbid you go on a Wednesday evening it is everything terrible multiplied. I would NEVER recommend someone  going here for a night out nor food. stay clear of this place. Trust me, I am a born and raised Winniperger.

Went out for my anniversary dinner. Had great service. We sat ourselves as the place was almost empty. Orederd the carmel apple martini, the first sip was amazing, however it went downhill from there- it was sickly sweet. We had the special of the night $2.50 fish tacos -one regular, and one feature of the day. Both were fantastic. I would order a few of them and have that as a main course. I had the asain lettuce cups and the hubby had the t-bone steak. I loved my dish but my hubby's steak was just ok. It was cooked correctly - med. rare, I just thought it could be a nicer cut of meat for the price of $33.00. Overall we had a great night and would go back again.

This place always seems to be busy, they are definitely doing some things right.  The location is pretty great for drawing the down town crowd, but if you're coming in from elsewhere in the city then parking sucks.  Service was good, food was good, portions were good.  The calamari was excellent, fish tacos very good, fries and onion rings both very good.  The patio is a nice space as well in the summer time.  I will be back!

I have been here once before and waited to write a review until I tried it again. It was lunches both occasions with 4 people the 1st and 7 people the 2nd time.<br/><br/>Service was good but have to say that running out of Clamato juice on a busy lunch is just poor management. I had salmon the first time and steak the second and would have to say the portions were small for the price and both proteins were under seasoned. When the food came out some of my colleagues items were cold; a lot of underwhelming responses about their lunches. I will give them the benefit of the doubt and give them a try again as both times I was there it was busy so they must be doing something right.

I have to say that rating this place a 1 is generous.  We planned a bachellorette party and I called Rudy's 1 month in advance to book a table in the lounge for us to end our night of fun with some drinks.  I was assured by the floor manager that they would move some booths and make a fun little vip area for us.  The day before the party they called to confirm and even confirmed the specific details. When we got to Rudy's on time for our reservation, we were seated at a long table in the restaurant.  I spoke with the manager, he told me it was Jets game day and they never take reservations. Well you did and you confirmed a day in advance!!  His reply to that was "that manager who did your reservation doesnt work here anymore".  The fact that the manager who booked the reservation with me is no longer working there anymore has no merit.  You booked my reservation, and you confirmed specific details.  Honor them.He was very unapologetic and offered no solution.  We came to Rudys from having dinner at a long table in a restaurant and wanted a nice area where we could have some cocktails and have some fun and a long table in Rudy's was not the idea we had in mind. The manager was not helpful at all and the waitress came by with some shots but we ended up leaving thankfully to Moxies close by who accomodated us amazingly.I would never book a specific reservation at Rudy's ever again and due to the lack of caring and understanding from that specific manager, I will never go there again.I emailed Rudys to advise them of this terrible service and the damper they put on our evening and I have not received a response.

went here for lunch yesterday with my wife. this was our 5th time eating here (4 lunch and 1 dinner. Prior to this lunch i would have rated Rudy's at a minimum an 8 out of 10. the food was always fresh and great tasting. for the lunches one of us would order a soup or salad the other the fries and we'd share as all were always so good we'd have a hard time deciding. also the sandwiches and wraps were fantastic.<br/><br/>however as of yesterdays lunch it is no longer the same. the menu has changed, (no more duck clubhouse, no more mile high bacon tomato sandwich, etc) my favorites were gone.<br/><br/>my wife had the soup and salad (dressing supposed to be on the side) the soup was a leek and potato soup which look like wet drywall mud. it was lumpy like someone had used to much corn starch to thicken it and tasted very strongly of pepper. t also the garlic bread stick for the soup was cold and not even a hint of garlic or even garlic salt for that matter. besides a few onions and stale bagged croutons the salad was just lettuce.<br/><br/>i had the fish tacos which weren't bad but the base was shredded bag lettuce which some of which was slimy. i got 3 morsels of fish in each taco which were about the size of toonies. and barely a teaspoon amount of pico de gallo. The fries were no longer the awesome shoestring fries but were like the 10lb bag of fries you get at costco covered in seasoning salt.<br/><br/>we had water to drink and the bill after taxes came to $31 bucks. for a basic salad, gross soup, 2 fish tacos and fries that is steep even for downtown.<br/><br/>sad to see that this place turned into what seems now is a run of the mill name brand restaurant. i guess we will be finding a new place meet for lunch.

Been back a fifth time and the food is always delicious and the place is really busy at lunch and during events downtown. Suggest a reservation well in advance, if you want to get in. Service is always dependable but when you see how big the place is you'll understand why there may be a little wait here and there. Give yourself some time for events.

Went to rudys for drinks on the patio, had to use the restroom and when I tried to get back on the patio this guy who says he was the owner was blocking the door with his foot. I told the security guy and when the guy removed his foot he said he was the owner and I said "well you shouldn't treat your paying customers so rudely if you're the "owner"".. horrible..

Great bar menu and even better drinks! Service is impeccable, our drinks were never more than half empty and our server was charming! We will definitely be back!

Slow service. Horrible, overpriced cold food. Sticky floors and overpacked seating. Definitely won't be returning.

I've been here a couple times and I always received very good service. Their food quality is very consistent and the portion is reasonable considering their prices.
Karly Clouse
Decent at best. I've been a couple times this year with the patio, but last summer was way better! A lot of Winnipeg socialites make this their Wednesday destination, so its almost like a little Winnipeg mixer party.

Slow service, horrible overpriced food. The steakk bites tasted like greasy shake n bake round steak ($14.50!), my buffalo sandwich was sub-par. Hooters and fat burgers Buffalo chicken sandwiches are way better. Will not be repeat customers.

2nd time I've been and may not be back. Good atmosphere but our waitress was awkward and inattentive and the lamb was pure salt. Not impressed at all

Slow service. I booked a table for a large group (~15 people) for lunch and was assured that we didn't need to pre-order to make sure that we'd get our food in a reasonable time period. Some of our group was 10-15 min later than expected; however, even after ordering it took more than 40 min to get our food, even though the restaurant was maybe half full. One person had to get to a meeting and informed the server of this when he ordered. 40 min later, he left without receiving his meal. Getting bills and paying was also slow.<br/>I ordered a burger and while the meat tasted fine, the preparation reflected the fatal flaw in many burgers - not enough sauce. If you advertise that the burger includes "Rudy's sauce" then make sure I can taste it. After I finally found the tiny smear of sauce under the burger, I ran my finger over the sauce area to try to scoop some up to see what it tasted like. There wasn't even enough sauce for me to to do that. My side was a beet borscht that didn't come with sour cream. (Turns out sour cream is an extra charge.) Overall, my meal could have used a bit more flavour and pizazz.

Service was extremely slow, food was on the verge of gross. Order was taken promptly, then the wait began. Took forever for food to arrive, when it finally did the requested modifications were not made... Not surprising as the order was not written down when taken by server. There were several dirty tables(some still had dirty plates on them) around us on the patio. Not once in the hour and a half that we were seated did we see anyone wipe down any of the dirty tables. Disgusting. We will not be back.

Lovely. I enjoyed my time, Tuesday is $2.00 tacos (2.25 tequila shots & $4 coronas) and the fish tacos are so good! they also now have chicken tacos which were good! :) will be back on Tuesdays! my new taco joint.

Good atmosphere, great server. But I wouldn't say this is a good place to eat at. Only drinks

Great food, drink, & atmosphere. I've been to Rudy's many times after work for drinks and appetizers, a couple of times before Jets games, and once for a work function. <br/><br/>The service is always excellent. Obviously when the place is packed an hour before a game, the servers are very busy but they still manage to stay on top of things, always smiling. <br/><br/>A pretty typical selection for drinks. Many different beers on tap, plus good bartenders who know how to do their job. Decent selection of wines, as well. They have an interesting variety of appetizers. Really liked everything I've tried. The mini-reubens, artisan platter, steak bites, kettle chips, and wings have always been freshly prepared and very tasty. Have only had a full meal there once, but again was worth it. My wife had the burger. She works in the food industry and is quite fussy about food quality and presentation. She said it was the best burger she ever had.<br/><br/>For the work function (about 50 people), they let us have the lounge to ourselves. Again, the servers (Crystal and Kristina) kept up and somehow managed to keep track of everyone's favorite drink. The decor & atmosphere was ideal and really worked for us. <br/><br/>In the summer, their patio is unbeatable. Lots of room, nice variety in terms of seating (sofas, stools, etc), and not noisy. It's set back from the streets and there isn't much nearby traffic, so you can actually have a quiet conversation without competing with loud motorcycles, trucks, etc.<br/><br/>The place has a great vibe and is a perfect spot to unwind after work. Ideally located for arena events, both before and after a concert or game.

Party!!. We had my husbands 40th birthday at rudys . John the manager and Emily our server were awesome . We had 45 people there it was great. Terrible Service,WORSE MANAGEMENT. Went here with a group of friends after a theatre show, their staff was ill prepared to serve more that one or two tables. The waitress was very rude and short, which I normally wouldn't say was okay, but she was most likely overwhelmed. When I phone the next day to speak with the manager his response was "I'm sorry to hear that" and literally hung up on me.<br/><br/>Date of incident with server - Tuesday December 9th @ 9:00pm<br/><br/>Date of incident with manager - Wednesday December 10 @ 1:30pm

Enjoyed our third office department Christmas lunch at Rudy's. This is the third year that I have booked my office department Christmas lunch at Rudy’s. Once again I was pleased with how smoothly things went.<br/><br/>The hostess greeted us warmly. She knew immediately that our party was taking place.<br/><br/>Our server was Scott. He was very attentive yet not intrusive. Our appetizers came out at the exact time I had requested in my party booking.<br/><br/>The food was great. Exactly what we were wanting.<br/><br/>Overall we were very happy with our experience at Rudy’s and we will be returning.

Lamb Curry. Lamb curry? I think not! it was almost gross....almost!. The manager was good enough to let me switch to the curry shrimp fried rice.

Lovely and super accommodating. My husband and I booked Rudy's as our wedding rehearsal dinner spot because we love the atmosphere. Amongst all the planning I mixed up the dates and our large wedding party accidentally showed up a day earlier then expected. Needless to say John and Justice were great! They set up a great table quickly and were so attentive throughout the night. I should mention that everyone loved their food and we left full and incredibly happy! Thank you to everyone who works there, you did an amazing job! And my apologize again for the mix up.

Awesome food!. Went today for a birthday. <br/>Greeted quickly. Liked the atmosphere and look of the restaurant. Our waitress was very friendly as were the other staff on that night. <br/>Happened to go on one of their nights where they feature a 'date night' special which consists of one app to share, an entree each (steaks not included) and a dessert to share for $50. <br/>Now first off let me say I'm used to fairly small apps, so we did order two. The sticky ribs and the calamari. Holy moly the portions were HUUUUUUUUGE! It was just myself and my bf and one app alone could easily be shared among 4-6 people. <br/>Sticky ribs were amazing. Great flavour. Highly suggest these the most!<br/>Calamari wasn't the type I normally like (the very thin rings, lightly battered, opposed to thicker calamari cuts I've had) but it was so, so very good! Loved the sauce drizzled on them. Seasoning was perfect. Loved them. <br/><br/>I ordered the lamb curry. Again, huge portion but also excellent! Bf had the three little pigs and said it tasted great. <br/><br/>Dessert was his choice - the chocolate ganache I believe. Yummy, wasn't overly rich. Large piece which was good for sharing. <br/><br/>We left with three full boxes of leftovers which are enough for three separate meals on their own. Pretty happy about that though since the food was so good! <br/><br/>All I can say is if you come here, come hungry cause there will be lots to eat! Would go again!

Go for the food in the off hours. Here is the deal... any time there is an event down town this place is over loaded.... like to the brim full.... I'm thinking this might account for this place being lower in the rating than how the food actually is.I We went in the off hours, on a day nothing was going on downtown and I had great food and service. The menu is unique enough to appeal to those looking to try something they wouldn't make at home, and also "plain jane" friendly. Both my parents and I enjoyed it, and I would totally eat here again. Oh but make reservations.... they are a little lame about seating you even when the place is near empty.... not sure why this just seems to be there thing. Still good food though.

Terrific Service - But It Just Must Be Us. My husband and I stopped in at Rudy's following a Jets game. From the reviews on here I would expect terrible service but what we received was anything but. My husband and I can't seem to find terrible service in this city to save our lives. We must have "big tipper" or "kiss my ass firmly" printed on our foreheads. Either that or it must be that we greet our servers and ask how they are and treat them like human beings - I don't know. <br/><br/>The hostess greeted us warmly and brought us to our seat where we were immediately greeted by our server. She couldn't get our drinks to us fast enough. Throughout our stay she was constantly checking our glasses to be sure they weren't empty and the second our meals hit the table she was asking if she could also bring us water since we only had alcohol on the table. Honestly, she just couldn't do enough for us. Superb service. <br/><br/>The lamb shank I ordered was not exactly what one would expect. It was like lamb meat wrapped in a sausage casing. But I'll tell you what - the meat was tender, it pulled apart effortlessly and was very flavorful. It was complimented very nicely by the generous portion of feta on top and the mashed potatoes tasted great. What the hell more can you expect for nineteen dollars? If I wanted a piece of lamb that came closer to meeting my expectations visually I would be spending fifty bucks at the Lobby on York or Hy's. My husband really enjoyed his chicken cordon bleu. <br/><br/>For a spot to grab a few drinks and a bite to eat following a game, Rudy's fits the bill nicely.
Alex_bodzasy
Gangster Mac an Cheese. Rudy's was very acomidating when 25 of us just came in with out warning. The drinks came fast and the staff was friendly. I was bringing back my childhood by trying the Mac an cheese and it was delishus and the waiter recommended it with mushrooms and chicken. Best Mac ever. Highly recommend.

Unbelievable. Worst customer service ever.. My wife and I attempted to visit this restaurant on a Saturday night at 7 pm. Likely would have closed the place. <br/>The hostess on our arrival said they were not seating parties of two. This did not make sense so we asked to see the manager. He offered this different version: they were full t capacity and not seating anyone. He walked away rudely without offering to take a name for a list or any other hospitality group technique. <br/>I could clearly see empty tables. <br/>This is where it gets worse. We walked away, but before we reached the door of the hydro building they seated another couple???!!!!!!<br/>Why?!!!! WTF ! <br/>To add we at both in out late 40's and dressed appropriately for the venue. <br/>Will never go back. But Micheal will her of this.
Misselaineous007
Great Service but butternut squash soup and bread pudding flavourless. Owner who seated two of us and our server were great. I had the salmon tartare which I loved, but the butternut squash soup and my friend's bread pudding were extremely bland. Will return as loved the design of the place, the service and will try other things on the menu.

Good food, bumbling service.. I was there for a friends bachelorette party last weekend. We all came in at staggered times and it seemed to take a while to get drinks. had a champagne cocktail that came in a tiny rocks glass, should've been in a champagne flute, better presentation expected for a $9 drink. Had the Thai salad and thought the flavors were amazing. Other people said their food was mediocre (lamb, bruchetta bomb) and it seemed to take a long time though the place wasn't busy yet. Various servers kept dropping trays of glassware and dishes when trying to navigate the door to get in. Maybe it should be left open or they should go in through the kitchen, which had an open door. Getting more drinks was difficult, long wait, same drinks ordered did not come out the same two times in a row. Good live music, a jazz group.

Fantastic!!!. We organized a graduation dinner with Rudy's Eat and Drink and received absolutely fantastic service and food! The employees were friendly and helpful from the very first email until the end of our event! There were a total of 23 of us, so we were offered a 3-course meal at a very reasonably price. The food was perfect, everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals and there were no complaints at all! Many of the guests of our event had never been to Rudy's and all commented on how fantastic it was and all are looking forward to returning throughout the summer. We had a fantastic evening and would definitely go back. Thank you to everyone at Rudy's Eat and Drink! I would highly recommend this place!

Rude.. I have been to Rudy's many times and it has never been an issue like there was when I went with my two colleagues, one who happens to be aboriginal and one who is of African decent. We made reservations only to arrive and discover that they do not take reservations for the patio (even though I specifically asked if they do), the manager greeted us emotionless and rude, he acted as if we were bothering him when we asked about the reservation nevertheless we were lucky and there was a large table for us to sit at, once we sat down our waitress walked by our table 7 times without so much as a glance or a hi or any form of greeting, finally after 15 minutes of waiting she finally came and took our drink orders (never notified of specials, no drink menu) It took at least another 15 minutes to receive our waters. Not once did she come back to see if we needed refills throughout the entire time we were there. We waited a full hour to receive our french fries, burgers, and chicken fingers (food that could have been caught, killed, cooked in that time), during that hour wait 3 tables had sat down were greeted, ordered and received their food BEFORE we received ours one of which that was chicken fingers and fries!! I would really like to think that racism did not play a part in this awful service but I honestly don't understand what else it could have been, why did we have to call over a different waitress to refill the coffee, not once but twice, why were we not greeted with so much as a hello? even if she was busy she could have said ill be with you in a moment, absolutely nothing we sat there like fools for a good 15 minutes without even being acknowledged. After waiting an hour for fries and burgers it arrived cold with obviously no time left to have it remade. Hands down one of the worst experiences I have ever had, ever. I have never felt so unwanted and disrespected. This was my last day at the office the lunch was supposed to be a treat but instead we ended up being really late going back to the work. Basically if your anything but a group of white businessmen/women, do not even bother showing up. Waste of time, money, energy.

Not bad, but noisy!. Had dinner here with a few friends and after reading the reviews where was prepared for quite a wait. While I have to admit that the meals did take a little longer to come out than they probably should have the food was very good. Actually I can't think of a single complaint about the food other than the service being a little slow. The waitstaff were friendly and attentive and did stop by several times to ask how the meal was. The decor looks very nice, but there's nothing really soft to help absorb the sound in the restaurant. The result is that even with the background music relatively low-key it still sounded like you were in the middle of a huge drunken party. We pretty much had to shout to hear each other at the table, and several times I found myself just nodding and smiling because there was no way I could hear what people were saying. And if possible request to sit at a table and not a booth - the booth seats are very soft and squishy, which makes them uncomfortable and difficult to get out of. <br/><br/>Bottom line - food was good, service was a little slow but okay, noise level is way too loud. Good place for a meal with friends if you're not pressed for time, not very good for a date or romantic dinner (unless you don't want to talk to each other during it).

Decadent burger!. Had a burger & fries here a while back and was blown away by how tasty it was. The fries are terrifying - not that they were bad, but probably very, very bad for you! Service was merely ok. A little loud & boisterous for us but ok for a quick visit. Hope to get back there soon. 7/10

I have been to Rudy's for lunch a few times since the restaurant opened, and each time has been disappointing. More recently, I took one of my girlfriends out for her birthday and we waited over and hour for our food and 10 minutes for a glass of water. You would think we had ordered something complex, however I ordered the special which was a BLT sandwich and my friend ordered a salmon salad. We watched the restaurant as people (primarily business men) continued to be seated, served and paid in the time we were still waiting for our food. Our server did not come over to us ONCE to ask if we needed a refill on water or to let us know when our food was going to come out. After an hour of waiting and realizing our lunch break was up, we decided to leave without our food and stood at the entrance looking for the manager. Our food came out at that moment... Our server apologized and came back with our full meals in takeout containers and proceeded to ask me to pay for the meals!!! Are you kidding me? I asked her if I could speak with a manager and she said she could check but that she may have to take my phone number and call me back. I was 20 minutes late for work at this point and refused because that would eat more into my work day, so I stood there and waited. 2 minutes later the manager arrived. She blamed the situation on the fact it was busy... I looked around and noticed 5 tables were full in the dining room. She reimbursed me with gift cards, however I refuse to use them. Absolutely awful service. Does anyone want a gift card?

Good Grub. We had the lamb shank, pork tenderloin, salmon, meat loaf and lamb curry. All dishes were good, with the right amount of spices. The only critique pertains to the lamb shank. We were expecting the actual shank....with the bones, etc...What we received was lamb meat formed into a sausage casing. The menu needs to be revised to include this description. <br/>We were told by staff that everything is made fresh from scratch unlike the chain restaurants. We found it to be a little much, but they're trying to differentiate themselves from the other places. <br/>Overall good, but not outstanding.

Could be fantastic, at present is hit and miss. I've been to Rudy's at least 10 times; before events (where there is a limited event menu), for work functions (where we've had the entire restaurant to ourselves), for casual lunches and for dinner with hubby.<br/><br/>What Rudy's does well, it does spectacularly! I think the burger is fantastic and the fish is always cooked perfectly and the seasoning is delicious. <br/><br/>There are, however, a number of mediocre things on the menu and, in my view, a few things that are horrible and do not belong on the menu at all (the chickpea "salad" that comes with the salmon is beyond bland and unappealing).<br/><br/>The fact that dishes are not always to everyone's taste though, is not, to me, what holds this restaurant back. I accept that what I find almost inedible, someone else might enjoy. What holds this restaurant back is the inconsistent, and sometimes downright terrible, service. Bad service doesn't always detract from a meal in which the food is enjoyable, but it takes what could be a mere bump in the road and turns it into a thoroughly unenjoyable dining experience. <br/><br/>I don't require overly solicitous service, but I do think that diners are entitled to a server who attends regularly to check on drink status and who comes by after food has been served to check if the diner is satisfied. Most importantly, good service requires that the server take action if the diner expresses dissatisfaction. To simply reply "oh" when the diner expresses to you that an aspect of the meal is not to their liking is almost worse than the server not reappearing until the meal is finished and the offending portion lies untouched on the plate. <br/><br/>Rudy's could be great. It could be a "go to" restaurant for many of us that work downtown. But until it fixes the problem with service, it's a gamble that may not be worth the risk, especially when Winnipeg has so many other great options that do care about whether the diner is happy.

Service was great. After reading all the negative reviews on here, my wife and I decided to form our own opinion. We went about a month back before a Jets game, now I will not go anywhere else. The food quality was fantastic, I've had almost everything from the appetizer menu now. As soon as we had walked through the door and looked for a seat at the bar, all the staff were very welcoming. Rudy's is definitely worth your time, avoid the negative reviews. Ask for Chris or Justice

Better Menu, Better Pricing, I am impressed. We eat out a lot and when Rudy's first opened I did not have much nice to say, however in the past 6 months I have been there many times and am extremely happy with the revised menu, and the better value for the money. I see in a lot of the reviews that diners experienced poor service. I have to agree with the no one to greet or seat you aspect, the hostess is usually playing on her cell phone, but we seat ourselves in the bar side and have had exceptional service on many occasions. Ask to be seated in either Emily or Sam's area, you won't be sorry. With regards to the food: The Korean Sticky Ribs are tasty, generous and a great deal at under $10. I cannot finish the serving, . There are daily blue plate specials at the chef's whim and every one that I have tried has been excellent in presentation, value and most importantly taste. For people looking for great value in a lunch, try the house soup. If you order wisely you will leave sated and with a smile.

Poor service. We ate here with a large group. The food was very good but it was some of he poorest service I'd ever had. Incompetent staff. As we were paying, a Jets game got out, and staff did nothing to prevent half a dozen drunk bros from muscling there way into our still uncleared table while fewer than half of us were ready to go.

Really Quite Good!. I'd actually never really heard about the place, but ended up going with a group of 8 for supper on the first Saturday of January. One of the group works in the building and had said that the service at lunch hour was horrendous, so my expectations were low. I have to say, though, that I'm quite glad that I hadn't read the bad reviews on Urbanspoon, because our experience was fantastic. We had the calamari appetizer, and it was very generous and extremely tasty. I had the Lamb Curry, and it was also a substantial serving (enough to have some for lunch the next day), and it was super tasty. Everyone in our group loved the food. And we all shared the cheesecake which was also fantastic (I normally don't use this many superlatives, but it really was quite good!). <br/><br/>As for the service, I have to say that it was really very good. I was a waiter for 14 years, so I can be a bit critical, but our server was great, and she had lots of help from her co-workers and from a gentleman that I assume was the manager. The appetizers came out very quickly, and the meals also arrived with perfect timing. There weren't a lot of people in the restaurant, so this may have helped us get such great service. By the sounds of things, the level of service we received may - unfortunately - be the exception, rather than the norm, but I just felt I should post this, as the staff that night was excellent - kitchen through server.

LDS. We had our Christmas party at Rudy's this year and it was fabulous! We had great wait staff, fabulous food, and great ambiance as far as both music and decorations. We were a party of about 40 and you never lacked for attentive service from both the bar staff and the servers with the appitizers or the meals. The food itself was both hot and delicious. The food and wine selections were well paired and everyone was thrilled with the evening which not easy to do with 40 different opinions. We look forward to the next visit and can honestly recommend this restaurant based on both the food and the service we received.

Terrible service, boring food!. Had a ladies afternoon recently and went there for drinks/lunch. No one greeted us upon our arrival. We waited and waited, and finally decided to seat ourselves in the lounge. The bartender was rude, he didn't even acknowledge us. Finally our server came over, took our drink orders, and even though I just ordered water, I was the last person to be served. <br/><br/>It took forever for our food to arrive, even though I could see it sitting on the counter in the kitchen. I ordered a burger and fries, pretty standard fare, and I was looking forward to sampling this place. Unfortunately, the burger itself was charred to a crispy black, the bacon was tasteless, the cheese was bland, and my lettuce was limp. <br/><br/>Little things like garlic toast were forgotten and had to be asked for. Our server was inattentive, and when we asked for refills on our drinks, it took forever to get them, even though they were sitting on the bar, ready to be served. The bartender couldn't be bothered to come out from behind the bar and serve us. <br/><br/>Definitely will not go back to this place. I had high expectations and the restaurant didn't meet them, unfortunately.

I had the buffalo chicken burger and squash soup. Best food I've had in a long time. Definitely coming to eat here's again! Loved it!

Having been to Rudy's many times, I have to ask, when did they stop serving alcohol at lunch, are you kidding me. My co-workers count on Rudy's for the close to the office cocktails with lunch. With respect to the food, it is okay, service sometimes very good, sometimes, not so much. Very much a middle of the road for Food and service, they definitely do cocktails at lunch. Perhaps the other reviewer had their table cut off or their boss nixed the lunch drinks.

Just a mehhhh. Went with my.... Just a mehhhh.<br/>Went with my girlfriend expecting a great evening with great food. I didn't hate the food but honestly I wouldn't return.

Subpar... We thought because we work in the same building as this place that we could get a bite quickly for lunch, be in and out within an hour. Hahahhaa...yeahhhh.... TWO HOURS. We are a pretty easy going bunch, so it takes a good effort to get us annoyed...and they did. The waitress didn't even look at us until we had been sitting for about 20 minutes. The place wasn't even that busy. Anyway, I had an Italian soda and a reuben. The soda was terrible and the reuben was just OK. For the price we paid, for the time we had to wait, our expectations were pretty high. They did not meet them. <br/>I would like to say that I was told by my supervisor about the "no alcohol before 4pm" so it might have only applied to those working within the building and maybe not for very long? Regardless, we were not given a drink menu and I didn't see anyone around me with a drink. Maybe things have changed, but I think I will save my dollars and go somewhere else.

Love the style and atmosphere that rudys offers. Also the bartending was delightful and I definitely am a fan of "wet the duck".
Sarah
Worst server I have ever encountered; extremely slow and bitchy. Being told to sit down and wait to she would get to us eventually in a practically empty restaurant is unacceptable. It should not take 25 plus minutes to get a simple drink. Someone couldn't pay me to return to Rudy's
Rain
Great salmon. We had a very good salon there..:)

Loved coming here for some quick drinks and apps! Kaitlynn was an amazing server so knowledgable and friendly. Always kept our drinks coming and we will definitely be back soon ! We had the summer rolls that she suggested and they were amazing! Thanks kaitlynn and we will be back soon! Yum!

Went to rudys on lunch in june. Waited 45 minutes for lunch. One in our party had to get back so he couldnt even eat. They comped his meal but ours were left. No-one even apologized.
Laura
Not sure why rudys has such a low rating. We came in the other night on a weekday. Alanna was amazing and catered to our every need. The kettle chips and brie as well as pork tenderloin and lamb were delicious. Will definitely come back.
JoJo Bean
Server was too busy to serve us. She was very attentive at the other table and totally ignored us. Very slow service and had to wait for 50mins for our food to come out, and had to ask her to return it cause its fricken cold. She didn't like that one lol sigh not goin back that's for sure!
Britney
Worst service ever, wouldn't go back
Sam Bunny
Tasteless & overpriced!. I ordered a 7oz steak dish and the steak didn't taste like much. My side included very skinny fries, almost like hickery-sticks, gingered carrots, which were very thinly sliced, and two pieces of broccoli. The dish was $19 without tax or tip. The server was nice and the restaurant was very nice. However, I care more about the food than the restaurants "look." My boyfriend ordered a sandwich dish that was similar to a burger but with wonder bread-like bread instead of buns. It was a big sandwich but they threw eggs, bacon, and a beef patty in it (this combination was actually weird). The chicken dish with rice was $23 and it didn't have much on it. Expensive, tasteless food and expensive alcoholic bevereages. We don't need another moxies/earls/state-and-main where the place is nice but the food is over-priced and tasteless.

Steak au Poivre was delicious. I had an absolutely delicious lunch on the patio today. I've dined at Rudy’s a number of times starting from the day it opened. The style and décor is wonderful and it’s roomy and comfortable. There always seemed to be plenty of servers and managers that were doing their best. It seemed to me like the kitchen was trying to find their groove and I think they found it. I had the Steak au Poivre and it couldn't have been better. There were three, yes three, perfectly grilled melt-in-your- mouth- tender fillet medallions with a tantalizing drizzle of creamy brown gravy and fresh mushrooms. I had a bowl of French onion soup and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was hot and flavourful, a good serving, and had just the right amount of Gruyere cheese and fresh croutons that were easy enough to cut with a spoon. My wife (and one other at our table) had the Tempura Tuna Roll and loved it. I swapped a bite of beef for a crispy sushi roll very lighted dipped in tempura. It was tasty and the Spicy Mayo sauce was a big hit. My sister had the Reuben and really enjoyed it. I didn't try it but it looked buttery grilled to perfection and loaded with thinly sliced corned beef. It wasn't soggy. The service was prompt and attentive. It was busy on the patio and our waitress hopped between her tables quite efficiently and prioritized well. She had lots of help bringing out our meals and drinks. There were a couple of minor issues – a serviette that had something spilled on it and soup spoons were missing. These were quickly corrected without fuss. As a side note – thanks to management for finally giving up on flogging the house filtered water. I’ll be back!

Terrible food. Crab cake was gross. The bread pudding was hard. Service was slow considering pretty much everyone was just having drinks. Don't waste your money.
Mike Lewis
Awful. We were seated and then ignored for over 20mins. Finally a manager came to ask if we had been served. After taking our drink order we had to wait another 10mins for a drink. The food came out 40mins after the drinks and we were never asked if we wanted another drink or needed anything else. The food itself was poor. The asparagus had freezer burn and my pork tenderloin was cold.<br/><br/>To recap, 30mins to get a drink, 1hr 10mins to get bad, cold food and no customer service.

Best bruschetta. I love their decor. Bruschetta is to die for. It's a little over priced for most things.
Ashley
Very disappointed with my last visit here. We went before a concert and had to order off the 'event menu' which was slim pickings! Ordered a few apps and Rudy's special. Apps were less than impressive and gnocchi in Rudy's special tasted musty and fishy like they pulled it out from back of freezer. We sent it back and they didn't even take anything off our bill. Really terrible food and service, will def not rush back. Can't wait for milestones and new restaurant to open across from MTS Ctr for more options!!

Great Girls Night!. Went to Rudy's with two friends for a girl's dinner. The dining room was slow so we had our pick of tables.<br/><br/>Our waiter John was really accomodating and attentive. He also was fun and friendly. When we said we had a history of staying long, he joked around with us and called us campers. <br/><br/>He made great food recommendations and two of us went with his recommendation of the crab cakes. So delicious, fresh and tasty. I know I'll be back just for the crab cakes.<br/><br/>Our service was excellent and he was passionate about the restaurant. I'll definitely be back! Love the fun, casual vibe.

Ok burger, wouldn't order again. Great fries but small portion. Over all meal was 4/10.<br/><br/><br/>-----03 Apr, 2013-----<br/><br/>Ok burgers, great fries but they barely give you any with your order. Beautiful location but the servers seem to have no idea what they are doing and were quite awkward. One waitress had such a short skirt on you could almost see her butt. It's a fun hoppin bar like place in summer but food is maybe 4.5/10.

Loved the energy, the story and the variety. Rudy's is my downtown fav in Winnipeg and I'm very surprised by the negative feedback that I've read here in a few reviews on urbanspoon. <br/><br/>Rudy's is the only downtown hot spot that I even consider bringing guests to whether they're locals or from Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver. The experience begins with Rudy's super environmentally responsible decor. Look around you during your visit there, everything from the recycled floors and diminutive lighting to the refurbished chairs and even the sensory restrooms are über green. This place is LEED certified. This is the only restaurant in Winnipeg that can boast that.<br/><br/>Upon entering either a smiling hostess or the charismatic general manager, Jonny, greet you as enter the establishment. Jonny will remember your name, the company you work for, the table you like, your kids names, the wine you ordered last time etc etc. He will try and hook you up every time, whether it's obtaining a really tight reservation on a packed concert night or coming in on his day off to buy/have a drink with you when you got the promotion you've been gunning for.<br/><br/>I'm the easiest guest to please so long as I am served with a smile, and visited frequently and competently. If I have questions I want either an immediate answer or an "I'm not sure, let me find out for you right away" kind of attitude. I hate wishy-washy. And I HATE server rudeness. We've all been there. That being said: I have always had really solid experiences at Rudy's service wise. Friendly staff who are knowledgeable about the menu and obviously employ the teamwork method. They run one another's food, clear tables, run payments etc. When my guests and I leave everyone thanks us, not just the server who got the tip. I cannot praise the staff any more highly at Rudy's. <br/><br/>In fact I wonder if it is consequential that many of the young women working here also happen to be beautiful so they are automatically critiqued more heavily? I prepose this question only because I do on occasion hear catty comments as a double x chromosome server leaves a table of women. Lets be honest fellow females, you're not critiquing her service, you're bashing her skirt, her make up and calling her derogatory names.... Your own insecurities are not a reflection on a server's capacity to serve. It is not her fault that you have avoided jumping on a treadmill for the last decade anymore than it is your fault that I forgot to buy Greek yogurt at the store today.<br/><br/>Rudy's makes everything in house: burgers, bread, bacon and more! How they get our lunches out in fifteen minutes is beyond me. I've toured the kitchen and it is spotless, bustling with activity and pure efficiency. It's not uncommon to find the the owner Mike Schafer in the stainless steel prep kitchen hammering out 450 burger patties that he just finished grinding. What kind of proprietor does these menial tasks when he literally pays people to do them, you ask? The best kind. The kind that is so dedicated to your experience that he would rather suit up in kitchen whites and get his hands dirty than let your duck clubhouse and fries get to your table in 16 minutes instead of 15. <br/><br/>I give Rudy's 5 stars. As an industry heavy-weight pulling fives from me is not an easy win. Congratulations Rudy's on all your success and thank you for giving Winnipeg another awesome restaurant!

Atrocious Service, Bad Food. Having been to Rudy's once before and having not had a great experience, we were ready to return with hopes of a better time. This time, we knew what not to order (the Kettle Chips) and hoped we would have a different server. Unfortunately, our second time at Rudy's was worse than the first.<br/><br/>Our server was unbelievably rude and condescending. He began his time with us by making a joke at the expense at one of our friends, thus making the whole table feel awkward and getting the night off on the wrong foot. When asked if there were any Happy Hour specials he simply walked away and returned with cocktail menus (it turns out there weren't any specials, but we didn't find that out until later). He was very hard to track down and didn't refill our water glasses once. When we received the bill and asked for it to be split 3 ways, he rolled his eyes, sighed and went to the bar to split it. We were not sitting far from the bar and overheard him ridiculing our request to the bartender. When he returned, the bill was split in 4 ways, not 3, and he commented on how low our bill was. This was incredibly tacky and unprofessional. Especially considering how we were ready to order more drinks and possibly more food, but he never returned to our table until it got to be too late and we had to leave. The entire situation was embarrassing and insulting. Mr. Server, did we do something to you in another life to deserve this service?<br/><br/>The food was subpar. First off, the Bruschetta Flatbread was quite strange. The flavours didn't complement each other and it was far too salty. Perhaps we were expecting more of a traditional bruschetta, which this definitely is not, but we weren't expecting a flatbread bruschetta completely lacking in texture and flavour. We were excited for the French Frites since it promised truffle, but I guess we didn't read the menu close enough, because we later noticed it said "truffle essence". If anyone can tell me what "truffle essence" is, I'll be happy to know. Regardless, you would not have been able to tell there was any flavour other than parmesan cheese as a pile of it was unceremoniously dumped on top of the fries.<br/><br/>Like most people, I can overlook mediocre food if the service is great and the atmosphere is comfortable and pleasant, but that is not the experience we had that night. Our server ruined our experience with his attitude and his poor professionalism. Unfortunately, It doesn't seem like the managers of Rudy's take customer reviews into consideration, so I don't believe this review will change anything. I guess with the automatic gratuity the servers feel they don't have to worry about making guests feel comfortable. As it stands, we will not be returning and we will not recommend our friends to go either.

The Rudy bacon cheeseburger is awesome! Needs to be nominated for Diners, drive-ins and Dives! Freshly ground beef every day, means no extras are added, truly amazing! With the owner in the back cooking, shows you what hardwork and passion can do. Good on ya!

Left hungry!!!. I went here for a friend's birthday last week. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I figured for a higher priced restaurant, the service would be good. Boy, was I wrong. I got sticker shock from all the prices, and if you are a picky eater, I would not recommend this place. The most "normal" thing they have is French fries for an appetizer and salmon for your meal. We waited an hour to get our food, and what they gave us was ridiculously tiny portions. Our server wasn't even the one to bring our food. We saw her a total of twice, when she took our order and when she gave us our bills. She walked right by us numerous times, did not ask how our meal was, nor did she bother to refill our drinks. She was incredibly rude when we asked how much longer for our food, and she nor management did anything to improve our experience. If it hadn't been for the automatic gratuity, she wouldn't have received a tip from any of us. She was a terrible waitress. When I was done my meal, I found myself and my friend sitting across from me to still be hungry after our meal. It took her another 20 minutes to bring our bills after EVERYONE was done. And to be honest, the décor was ugly and the booths and chairs were dated. I will NOT be back!!!

Great Service and a Fun Evening. Last night I went to Rudy's for some drinks with a friend and needless to say we had a great time. Our servers name was Krysta and she was AMAZING! She was super nice and made sure we were never left with an empty drink, always checking up on us to make sure everything was okay. Even though the lounge area was extremely busy Krysta's service was prompt and excellent, definitely worth a positive review! Not only was Krysta wonderful (we'll be requesting to sit in her section from now on) but the bartenders were amazing and friendly (as always). Overall I had a great Friday night at Rudy's- fun atmosphere, friendly staff and great drinks!

Terrible Service! Bad Food!. I came last night for a quick dinner before a movie. I thought the decor was great, I thought the place was higher end; BOY WAS I WRONG! <br/><br/>The host seated us and got our drinks 20 minutes later! Then another server got our order, then after a long time we finally got our food; delivered by a different server. It was the worst club sandwich I have ever had! The thing was dry and tough! I couldn't eat it and was NOT ONCE asked how it was...<br/><br/>Every time our drinks were empty it took a LONG time for the server to take our next order. Then she would go serve other people and forget all about us. It didn't make sense as the restaurant was barely 1/3 full and there was a dozen or so staff running around! <br/><br/>I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone! T E R R I B L E !!!!

LOVE this place!!!!. I have been here 4 times now and I have loved all times. The food is amazing! The atmosphere reminds me of great lounges in Toronto. The service is amazing. The bartender even came over to see if we liked our drinks (we ordered the colossal caesar and it was prob the best drink ever). I will def be back. It's an awesome place to chill with friends or to party.

No, thank you. We had a party of 8 people. The service was very good and they were very accommodating although it bothered me seeing that waitresses were dressed in really short dresses (one was pregnant and wearing heels). The decor was good and there was live music (Saturday night). On the other hand, the food was very disappointing. I ordered Rudy's Special and the bread pudding for dessert. The Gnocchi was offputting, i forced myself to finish at least half of it. The smokiness from the bacon overpowered everything and the gnocchi themselves were dense as opposed to being light and fluffy. The bread pudding was good, chocolatey. When we were ready to leave, the waitress told us that there was a 15% Grat added on each of our bills. All in all, for gnocchi and bread pudding, my bill was 27 dollars plus some cents. Honestly, due to how pricey and how crappy the meal was, I'm not coming back.

A Saturdy Night Out. Well ... aside from the usual downtown parking issues this was a good experience. Once you get to the corner of Graham Ave. and Edmonton St. go to the entrance to the Manitoba Hydro offices and you will find Rudy's entrance just inside on the right.<br/>Our hostess was right there when we came in and had us seated in less than a minute. Our reservatons for a table of eight put us near the bar which was boisterous and got very noisy. In our case this was not a problem but I would make sure to request a table in the other dining area if I wanted less noise and comotion. <br/>Our server was prompt and efficient with getting us beverages and going over the menu and specials. <br/>Everyone in our group enjoyed the food. <br/>Escargo rated a ten according to the person who ordered that.<br/>Caesar salad was excellent (three of us tried it). Just the right size for a starter , the salad was just right, being light and fresh without the all too typical over use of creamy dressing. This Caesar was well prepared with an oil based dressing and a good balance of garlic and other seasoning.<br/><br/>The Crispy Chicken meal was another hit with our group. Served with rice, and topped with a sweet fuit reduction along with a bit of kale and broccoli, the presentation, seasoning, texture and taste were all good.<br/><br/>Smoked pork tenderloin was a hit for our friend. <br/>Crab cakes were a treat and just right according to our company.<br/>Poached salmon got a good review from two people.<br/>The Manhattan steak got a thumbs up.<br/>The wines were given a passing grade by the group.<br/><br/><br/>Throughout the meal the server was attentive quick without being intrusive. And, finally ... the price worked out to around $40 per person ... wich I think was a fair tab for a very good dining experience. I picked up the tab and gave %20 tip ot the til (snuck a 20 to the server).<br/><br/>I'd go back any day and recommend this restaurant to anyone who does not mind a bit of noise and commotion. <br/><br/>BTW .... the Saturday night entertainment was fun. They had young performer with a lounge singer routine. He was fun and circulated the room, joking and hamming it up for pictures with the patrons.

Delicious Calamari and steak! Excellent service, definately coming back! Yumm ;)

Great Service and TLC. We were at Rudy's last night. Great food and excellent service. We had an emergency at our table and the staff were very accommodating. We were lucky enough to have volunteers in the restaurant to help us out as well. Everyone was happy with their meals and service.

My new fav restaurant. My husband & I tried Rudy's for the 1st time on Saturday night & I now have a new fav restaurant. The service was great, I enjoyed the atmosphere very much, and the food was totally delish!! I absolutely fell in love with the Salmon Tar Tar & can't wait to go back to eat there again. Mmmm... Salmon Tar Tar!!

Disappointed. Went for dinner and drinks on Friday night and was really disappointed. The calamari was served horrible sour sauce- when asked it we liked it, we were honest and said "not really", and the waitress then decided to tell us "ya, it's hit and miss, some people like it, others not". Our meals were also less than tasty, my black and blue salad was okay- lettuce was fresh, but again, the dressing tasted a little off. My cesar was great, but would have to drink 7 of them before I ever go back! So many great places to eat in the area, this one definitely missed the mark!<br/>PS- for a "bar" that had multiple screens showing ++sports, I was surpised to NOT see chicken wings on the menu!

Great Friday night. Went to Rudy's last night for a few drinks. Was my first time there as I am from out of town. My date and I sat at the bar and we were greeted and welcomed to the bar top. The bartender Chris introduced himself and offered up menu insight but we opted out of eating. Unsure of what cocktails to try he offered to create a few for us to try. I enjoyed my evening out and would recommend this establishment to my local winnipeg friends. Very good experience

Waited 45 minutes for lunch to arrive, and during that time the server didn't come over at all to refill waters or anything! It was unbelievable how slow and inferior the service was. Food wasn't spectacular either.
Max
Quite disappointed. Expected so much more. The space is quite nice; reminiscent of a modern Rae and Jerry's. Great location and the waitress we had was fun. The food, however, was remarkably average. Not sure i will go again and I certainly won't recommend it. With so many other better spots, I think Rudy's days are numbered.
Nikki
Not impressed with the event menu. Change it up a bit, it's gross. The waitress was practically naked and never around. We had the calamari, tuna, and house salad....would never order this again. Do not order the Lemon drop martini or Rudy's caeser. The manager and bartender dude were nice...if they said come back, we would.
JS
Worst service ever! Waited almost TWO hours for our bill! Foods good but the waitresses are pathetic! Not impressed at all
Kristin Mitchell
Never disappoints. I'm surprised to see all the negative reviews here...I've been for lunch twice and now for dinner once (last weekend) and have been impressed every time. Service was great although I will admit it was VERY quiet when we arrived. Food was absolutely outstanding. Had the bruschetta (shared between 4 no problem) and smoked pork tenderloin - could cut it with a fork! For dessert we all had something different and I tried the s'mores (such a cool idea) and bread pudding - both awesome! Would definitely go back for the food and atmosphere.

Poor Communication. Very disappointed in the establishment at this point. I have left multiple messages for a manager to call regarding an incident on New Years Eve. Unfortunately, I do not see myself coming back to or recommending Rudy's to friends and family based on this matter.
Sanher
Disappointing new years eve dinner. Rude service, average food, and promised and paid for glass of bubbly at midnight was no where to be found. Second try at this restaurant and both times the fiid has been disappointing.

What a disappointment having our work Xmas lunch at Rudy's last week. Our food took over 45 min to arrive, so we complained to a manager around 40 min. He had the nerve to argue with us about the time the server punched in our order. He then never came back to see if we got our food, etc. <br/><br/>Our server was nice but rarely came by. We later each received our bill and had a good laugh as they had the nerve to add a 15% gratuity as we were a party of eight.<br/><br/>We asked another manager to come over, to which he also argued with us for a solid two min about how it was the kitchen's fault and not the server's fault. He said he'd remove the grat but asked us to still tip our server a bit. That's when more ppl at the table piped up exclaiming they didn't even remember what our server looked like as she rarely came by.<br/><br/>That manager removed the grat as well as 10% off each bill - the least he could do.<br/><br/>Ill never return to Rudy's. What a terrible experience. <br/><br/>PS - way too much garlic in the Rudy's Special gnocchi pasta. Yuck.

Misleading?. Had the Dirty Dozen sandwich. Was really looking forward to the "12 pieces of bacon" as stated on the menu. When my sandwich arrived, I was surprised how flat it looked considering I was expecting a ton of bacon. Then it hit me! It was 12 pieces, not SLICES. So there were 6 halves on each side of the sandwich. And all the while I had been expecting this monster of a bacon sandwich, turns out, it was just a regular BLT.<br/>I do have to give props on the fries.... absolutely delicious. I'd go back just for those.

Rudys Downtown. Went there on Saturday night and really enjoyed the appetizers, drinks and atmosphere! Definitely recommended!

Expensive but good food. Good service and good food. Depends on what you ordered. Sandwiches are huge but I ordered some chicken dish and portion was small (but delish!) I would go back with a group of people but not on a date.

Loved everything except the calamari. Service, salad, steak, and dessert were all very good. I had heard mixed reviews and wanted to try it for myself. I was pleasantly surprised. We were seated in the dining room, as the lounge was full. Our server was very attentive (as well as other staff and the manager), the food was out quickly and served hot. I would definitely return and recommend to others.

Atmosphere. I've been Rudy's Eat & Drink twice. Once I ate on the patio and once on the lounge. Both were great times. The food on both occasions was quite good and the portions are a very nice size. The beer list is pretty solid. The service is quite good as well. I've enjoyed a steak as well as a burger. The burger was definitely more enjoyable then the steak and I think that Rudy's is better suited for that type of fare but the steak was still good and fairly priced. Appetizers were very good. French Onion soup was delicious. I will definitely be back. I'm sure it is a great place to take in a Jets game as well.
