Review Siam Thai - Winnipeg

Robert Reyes Ong
Place was clean, spacious and had a friendly staff. I tried the (v19) mixed vegetables and tofu stir fried in homemade curry paste, it had a good amount of spiciness to it that it can make you sweat but not enough to stop eating it or cant taste anything.

Easily in my top 5 for takeout (dine in is amazing too). I fell in love with the golden cups and fresh rolls years ago and they make an amazing cashew chicken, hot & sour soup and Pad Thai… and.. everything is so good!!
Anthony Yaseyko
Delicious food! We came in and ordered the fresh made chicken spring rolls, chicken ginger veggies, and pad Thai with chicken. We devoured the whole meal... Yummy will come again to try some other choice menu items!
Joel
Some of the best Thai food I've ever had. They tend to make their dishes only subtly spicy, so if you like it hot - say so! I try something new every time, and have loved every dish.
Diligent Potato
first time coming in so i had some pad thai, peanut was well grinded, not too saucy around the noodles but i like it that way, tofu was sliced finely not too small not too big, all around the meal had me thinking if i should have seconds, love the staffs there, spacious place with good lighting and decoration

Delicious spot in the South end for Thai food. Everyone I was with enjoyed their meals. I recently discovered pad see ew. It is familiar like a ho fun dry stir fry noodle (if you are Chinese) I debated between a 3-4 because after eating there I was not feeling great. My friend who had the leftovers also was not feeling great. Unfortunately I can't remember the name of all the dishes that were ordered. I was not particularly fond of the potatoes in the dish one of my companions has chosen. Side from that everything was apparently good.

Amazing food, quick and knowledgeable service and really reasonable delivery time at the table with a spacious interior and plenty of parking✨🎉

My mom and I went here for the first time because I was hungry for curry. Siam has an extensive menu and we decided on yellow curry with chicken and mixed vegetables with beef. They offer different kinds of rice to go with meals and the pricing structure is the same as any other Thai restaurant; they are also very reasonable in their pricing. Our waiter was friendly and funny, which we always enjoy.

Nice ambiance and service!<br/>Recommended items:<br/>Golden Cups<br/>Coconut soup<br/>Pad thai<br/><br/>Surprisingly, they have durian ice cream!

My wife and I ordered a large Wonton soup and Green Curry (no size option for curry). The order showed up via Doordash and for $14, the Green Curry was tiny and came with no rice. Rice is apparently extra. Not in any of the many Thai restaurants that we have frequented is rice not included. And they did not ask us if we wanted to add the rice. We assumed it came with. I guess our bad. The large Wonton Soup came with 6 Wontons and was mostly just broth. A nice ripoff for $12.50. Both orders were bland in taste and lacking heartiness. We are blown away at how popular this Thai restaurant is...people got to go out and try the many other Thai options and they will be pleasantly surprised at what real Thai food should taste like and be priced at. For example...go try Vanxai Thai which is just up the street from Siam Thai and you will have a greater love of Thai!!! Wise up to eating Thai food Winnipeg, because Siam Thai is a poser. <br/>

Extremely disappointing portion sizes - a ‘large’ soup barely gave us enough for two small bowls. Small portion of green curry for $15 that didn’t even come with rice (not a fun surprise when you order delivery). So many better options with WAY more value in the city. Not sure why so many people love this place so much...
Cindy Schurhoff
We ordered take out yesterday and were quite disappointed. I had the green curry which was okay, I have had much better. The coconut prawns were okay too. But the cashew chicken dish my husband ordered was absolutely awful. No spice and very bland..there also was no Thai flavoring at all. It tasted like someone had added a small amount of chicken stock thickened with cornstarch and poured over a few pieces of chicken, celery, diced carrots, onion, small mushrooms & a couple cashews, it tasted exactly how chicken soup should taste, only problem was that was not what he ordered
Taylor Cash Davies
Very mediocre Thai food. The meat was over cooked in both dishes ordered- and that was chicken in one and beef in the other. The flavours were also quite underwhelming. Wouldn’t recommend here if you were looking to be amazed. The prices are also higher than other Thai restaurants in the city.
Marty
Food is typically good here but I ordered the shrimp lettuce wraps from skip the dishes and they’re terrible (and so sad looking)! Stick with the curries and stay away from the shrimp lettuce rip off.
Randy Fyfe
Would go again; its a good average price but above average quality food. Service was average, portion sizes reflected price.Food tasted great, no surprises. I very much enjoyed my Massaman Curry dish.
Melody
Portion sizes are great, just like most Thai places in the city. I ordered the dish with the peanut sauce with a side of the coconut rice.  This dish really didn't wow me.  I found it lacking with flavor.  Their summer rolls were really good, although these would be better paired with a peanut sauce over a sweet chili.

Just returned from lunch at Siam Thai and was very disappointed in their service. Only one waitress for the entire restaurant and she wasn't very attentive to her patrons. We sat for several minutes before our order was taken, I had to ask twice for a refill on my coffee, never once came back to ask if everything was alright with our meal, and walked past us several times to serve others, but never stopped to clear our empty plates or even bring the bill. Even when we made eye contact with her, she glanced and then turned away. After waiting 15 minutes upon completion of our meal, I went to the counter to pay our bill. She seemed to favour one couple who appeared to be "regulars", as she teased them about knowing their order without needing a menu. That couple had come and gone before I even got up to pay our bill. Their bill was brought to them and paid at their table. Not impressed with their service and I won't be back. <br/>On a more pleasant note, the food was fine (not the best Thai I've had), but avoid the lettuce wraps- served with small pieces of romaine instead of nice big head lettuce leaves and very few toppings. Also the tray it was served in was too shallow to spoon out toppings without making a mess.

My second visit here, and I was extremely disappointed this time around. The Pad Thai my partner and I ordered was bland with soggy noodles. The beef in the dish was tasteless and pretty much inedible.
Foodlover
My favourite Winnipeg Thai food so far! Their green curry is delicious! Pad Thai is tasty! I also tasted a delicious coconut soup - wish I remembered the name!

Absolutely superb food. Very fresh very flavorful. I reccomend the mee krob. Amazing dish. The portions were a little small but it was still very much satisfying. The massaman curry was amazing as well and as previously stated. Need more!! So good!!
Aileen Schroeder
Love the food but just walked out at lunch after waiting over half an hour without having our order taken. Only one server for the entire restaurant--looking after takeouts and the till. Will think twice before returning, even though it's great Thai food
Justin P
Went there for Sunday lunch for the first time and had a wonderful experience. Decor was fresh and clean, service friendly and prompt. Server provided recommendations on food and insight on the level of heat of dishes.<br/><br/>Between the two of us we ordered two apps and two main dishes. The beef skewer was tender and juice, very well cooked and found it the star of the show. Main dishes ordered were green curry with chicken and the roasted duck in red curry sauce, both which we would recommend.
Jack And Grace
Visited this restaurant last week. Truly authentic. Waiter was awesome and very knowledgeable. We asked him to pick our entire dinner choices and each dish was a home run! If you want truly authentic Thai food. This is a definitely the place to go.
Lo-Lo
Was there for lunch June 2016. Server was rude when a couple of questions were asked about menu items. I gad a red curry chicken dish which had FROZEN green beans in it. The food was cold and bland and looked like something from a cafeteria. The server seened to be ignoring us on purpose when we were trying to ask for more water. Server never returned to the table once. There were only 3 other tables of customers. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. This place has sold out.
Derek
Best Thai in Winnipeg. So far I've tried the green curry, yellow curry, masaman curry (my favourite), and some of the stir frys and they are all excellent.
Val In MB
The pad thai and the stir fried noodles in coconut milk are delicious, as well as their stir fry with peanut sauce. We tried another veggie stir fry and it was a bit bland but not too bad. If you stick to more flavourful dishes, they definitely do not disappoint.
Rachel Antony
I'm not s Thai expert but I meant to save some for lunch leftovers but I ate all of it. So flavourful! It had some spice but not over powering. I had the veggie spring rolls and vegetarian red curry. The outside isn't promising but the food makes up for it.
Breanne S
Get thai from this place often and it really never disappoints. Fair prices and the usual portions. I recommend the green or red curry!
Foodee
Decent Thai food, good service, small portion. I was only here because my friend lives in the area and we heard so many good reviews about this place. But I would say it doesn't live up to the hype. Will come back if I'm in the neighborhood, but other than that there's no reason to.
Melbee
My husband & I enjoyed a lovely meal here. We asked our server for recommendations & they were spot on. The dry fish curry was delish - it will be a go to dish in the future. Cooked just right with a crisp coating and a flavourful curry sauce. The beef in oyster sauce was great too. We enjoyed our evening very much.
Jeffhaaksma
Ordered take out here a few weeks back since moving to the neighbourhood. we've always loved going to Magic thailand but the drive was a bit far so figured we give this one a shot. <br/><br/>between the two of us we got an order of crab rangoon, galangal soup and mee krob. the food was ready on time and still piping hot once it got home. <br/><br/>all the food was very tasty and fresh. however the only complaint we had is that the mee krob was lacking in fresh veggies (only a few peppers, bok choy, brocolli and onions.) it was ok but no where near as many as veggies as you get at Magic.<br/><br/>the soup was fantastic and even tasted better the next day.<br/><br/>we'll give this another shot as one can't go to long without a good thai meal!
Jessie Brautigan
Best red curry in Winnipeg. Service is skittle slow but the food is well worth the wait. We have been to Siam three times and have never been disappointed. Fragrant authentic Thai curries and soups. Delicious
Christopher Moltisanti
Got food poisoning from the stuffed chicken wings. Need I say more ? I suppose other than the illness, the food was okay, but I will never be able to go back
Traci G
Best Thai food this end of the city hands down !! Amazing soup and spring rolls. Service is quick and food is hot !!! We go at least twice a month :)
Shawn Dark
This is my go-to Thai restaurant. Always great service and have never had a dish I wasn't happy with. The beef in oyster sauce is fantastic. Prices are very appropriate.
Jon And Alli
Amazing food , great service, nice clean and quite restaurant and good pricing. We will be back to this restaurant for sure!
Samara_k22
Seriously? 20 min wait and all we get is "hi what do you want". Came on our lunch hour and ended up waiting 20 mins and the server was so rude. We actually had to take our food to go, since there wasn't time for another option. I would not come back here. Not because he food isn't good but because the server is actually the rudest lady i have ever experienced
Lj
Stupid ordering. You loose a lot of business by not taking orders on the phone.
Emma
We went for some Thai food, never been here before, had the Pai Thai noodles with chicken.. It's was awesome, had a number 1 in spice, was perfect..also had the mix veggies with chicken, it was so fresh and hot, number 2 in spice, also had the Massaman curry with chicken, it was so tasty and rich.. One of the best dishes... You have to eat here :))
ELF
Lj - WTF?. I always order over the phone so I'm not sure what Lj is talking about?<br/><br/><br/>-----07 Mar, 2015-----<br/><br/>Thai Grilled Beef Salad. Don't miss the fresh, vibrant flavours in this dish. It is not just ANY salad.

Visited on a Saturday at 7pm.<br/><br/>Good service, food came quickly. Too quickly to actually have been anything other than a quick steam table assembly.<br/><br/>Premade sauce flavours, bland steamed chicken, greasy coconut shrimp, sweet weak/unflavoured papaya salad, dry roasted/reheated duck with cold curry sauce...<br/>Overall, a pretty weak outing for "the best Thai in Winnipeg" according to some of the reviewers here.<br/><br/>I'll stick with Thida's or Magic Thai. The rest of you south end urbanspoon users might want to get out of the burbs and try these two to see what good Thai in Winnipeg can taste like.

Great Pad Thai!. I'm not a huge fan of thai food, but have visited Siam Thai a couple times with friends. I tried the spring rolls and Pad Thai and both were great. Staff were friendly and attentive, prices are decent too! I'll visit again and try something different next time!
Michael Buchanan
Green Papaya salad is delish!. Working in Winnipeg again was craving Thai & this place was close so tried it out. I had the deep fried spring rolls, green papaya salad & the green curry. The spring rolls where alright definitely not in my top 10 spring rolls I have tried. The green curry was brilliant that alone made the meal worth every penny. The chicken n it was tender & the veg was cooked but with a little bit to them & the sauce was creamy, spicy & sweet. The green papaya salad was very good as well with unripe papaya, tomato, lime, peanuts & cucumber salad like coleslaw was very tasty with citrus hit & some heat.

Hands down the best Thai in the city. The food is fresh and authentic (bonus they don't use MSG). I absolutely love C17 which is Chicken with pea pods, broccoli and mushrooms with scrumptious peanut sauce. The best calamari I've ever had, very tender, crispy with yummy sweet spicy sauce. The coconut soup is divine and a must on a cold day. Really, everything I've had has been super good. When my son (who is also a foodie) comes for a visit it is the first restaurant we go to and he says it better than any Thai restaurant he has been to in Toronto. <br/>I've been going to this restaurant for over 20 years, it has been consistently great
Stevensapersilver
Complete joke.. I've never been as disappointed in take out as I did when I picked up from here. The salad rolls consisted of frozen shrimp and romaine lettuce. No chance I'd go back.
Pickyeater
Disappointed. The high ratings brought a friend and I here. I'm currently obsessed with Thai food, as I've recently tasted some extraordinary Thai dishes outside of Winnipeg. The house drumsticks were the smallest pieces of chicken I've seen in my life; they were drowning in a sauce that tasted predominantly of ginger. As a previous reviewer mentioned, the pad Thai noodles were clumped together in a very unappetizing manner. The stir fry chicken with cashews was served in a very watery sauce that did not have any flavour whatsoever. Overall, all the dishes were bland and served cold. The only dish we enjoyed was the papaya salad, but the papaya still wasn't as fresh and crunchy as we'd hoped. I will not be dining here again.

AMAZING, Authentic, Fresh, Delicious Thai Food. Siam Thai has some of the best, most authentic, and fresh thai food I have ever tried (and I have tried dozens of thai restaurants across Canada). The quality and flavours of the dishes were fantastic. The Tom Yum Gai soup was full of flavour and fresh whole spices like ginger and lemongrass. I ordered it extra spicy, and that it was! The "Wrapped Noodle" (lean spiced ground pork, cashews, lettuce, carrots, bean sprouts, etc) was delicious and so fresh. I ordered delivery, and it was at my door in under an hour. I will be ordering again!

Delicious. Such good Thai food. Stirfry with peanut sauce is unreal.<br/>Definitely would recommend it and definitely will go back!

Winnipeg has better Thai food in town. Same comment on the service as well.

By far the worst thai food!. There is a large number of people at my office who like to order take-out, frequently trying new restaurants on Skip the Dishes. After seeing the overwhelming positive reviews for Siam Thai Restaurant, we were excited to place our order. Two of us went in on the order, trying the Tofu Pad Thai, the Shrimp Lettuce Wrap, and the medium-sized Thai Style Wonton Soup.<br/><br/>Our order was extremely late. We placed it on Skip the Dishes at 6:30 and it did not arrive until 8:15, though we were willing to forgive the long wait time, as it might have just been extremely busy at the restaurant considering it was a Thursday evening and all.<br/><br/>When we received our food, the noodles of the Tofu Pad Thai were clumped together and the tofu was overcooked to the point that it was hard. We could not see any peanuts on the dish, only what appeared to be - and tasted like - breadcrumbs. My co-worker took two bites before she just stopped eating it entirely. The Shrimp Lettuce Wrap was no better; the description of the item states that it comes with six pieces of shrimp, but it does not say what type of shrimps these are, and I was disappointed to find that they were tiny little salad shrimps. The soup was okay, but the noodles were overcooked and there were only four wontons.<br/><br/>Not pleased with the quality of our food, we phoned the restaurant to complain. The woman who answered the phone did not care that we were unhappy, and all of our complaints about the overcooked tofu, the meager shrimps and wontons, and lack of peanuts on dishes advertised to contain them were met with the same statement: "that's just how we make it at our restaurant."<br/><br/>Siam Thai boasts an impressive 91% positive review score -- ah, no. WE WERE NOT HAPPY WITH OUR PURCHASE! Save your time, save your money, do not order from here. It is by far the worst Thai food I have ever tasted!

Siam Thai Coconut Soup Best Anywhere.. I have been gong to Siam Thai for almost 10 years now. Their lunch menu is excellent. Red curry Panang chicken curry is awesome. The fresh vegetable spring rolls are the best I've ever had.<br/>However, the coconut soup, Tom Kha Gai (Chicken Coconut Soup) is by far and singularly the best I have ever had. Anywhere.<br/>The serving staff is friendly and helpful for newbies to Thai food.<br/>I highly recommend Siam Thai.<br/>Have the soup!

It's been years since I've eaten here. Will be returning. The food and service is good. I'm not sure why it took me so long to return.

Amazing soup !! Great staff

This restaurant is amazing. As a frequent Thai food go-er I was so impressed with Siam Thai it is my new favourite place. The quality of the ingredients and preperation are fantastic and is a memorable meal and one of the best meals I've ever had. The waiters are fantastic and made for a great experience altogether

Not going back. I put in an order for take out and specifically asked for no bell peppers. Two dishes had green and red peppers. I phoned to ask for a refund on those two dishes and did not get any cooperation. <br/><br/>I will not be supporting this restaurant any more.
Rkirouac
Disappointed. Have been to this restaurant many times - too bad I can't support them anymore.<br/><br/>Put in an order for take out and specifically asked for no bell peppers. Two dishes had green and red peppers. Phoned back to ask for a refund on those two dishes and did not get anything.

The most delicious Thai food I've EVER had! Excellent service also!
Magoopurple
Worst Thai Ever. I have ordered from here a few times and thought I would give it another try.<br/>What a hugh disappointment. This is not even real Thai food, its a mix between<br/>Chinese and Thai and very bad at that. For the price of the food, it was really disgusting. Do not order this food.

Great Birthday Dinner. We took my dad here for his birthday with a group of friends and family and were not disappointed! Started with spicy and sweet soup, which was enjoyed even by those of us who don't like spicy food. We shared a bunch of dishes - mixed vegetables in peanut sauce, lettuce wraps (amazing and a great appetizer to share), pad thai, green curry, and beef in chili glaze. Everything was tasty and we had nothing left to take home with us!
Lucy
Ordered Siam last night for take out. It was very fast and hot, the staff were exceptionally friendly and the food was delicious. Huge spring rolls, really good green apple salad and tasty curries. Was not a fan of the lettuce wraps.
The Oakwood Cafe
Very Nice. We dined at Siam last night for the first time and definitely will go back.<br/><br/>To be honest we were off to a shaky start with appetizers. We order the Golden Cups (they were very hard to eat and the cups tasted a wee bit stale). We also had the spring rolls and the shrimps inside were teeny-weeny. <br/><br/>We order the coconut curry soup which was the best I've ever had. It was rich and bursting with flavour. Then came the massaman curry.... It wasn't presented very well and only had potatoes in it.... BUT SOOOOOO MUCH FLAVOUR!!!!!!!<br/><br/>Finally we had the curry/coconut noodles and again probably the best I've had.<br/><br/>Definitely go try this place. The prices are very reasonable and the dishes are flavourful.<br/><br/>Support local!

Best Pad Thai in town. Also, very good Green Curry duck.
Trevor Day
Yum!. So delicious! Just moved to the south end, and found this fabulous diner. We recommend everything on the menu, you will not be dis-appointed.

Must have been a change of kitchen staff since my last visit, such a disappointment! The rack of ribs had a nice sauce, but obviously pre-cooked and not carefully grilled as half the small rack was dried out. The 'spicy rice ' was tasty, but not hint of spice or heat. Not one dish was memorable or outstanding. We won't be back : (
Greg
Came for the reviews and terribly disappointed at the experience. Food was just ok-nothing remarkable. The cold spring rolls had tiny cocktail shrimp and the flavours just were not there. With the exception of the creamy galangal soup (lots of flavour, but still underwhelming), this place rates so high on the "Mehh" scale that I shudder at the memory if $70 for 2. This used to be a great place according to my better half, but after dropping this kind of $$ on unremarkable food, I certainly won't be back. There are just too many choices that are better

Wonderful!!!

Ill be honest, the reputation, hype and reviews had me excited for siam but... Was very underwhelmed. Me and my girlfriend got shrimp pad thai and it was not worth what we paidfor. The serving size compared to thai express or others is substantially less, the taste was a bit too bland, not enough sauce caused the dish to be dry. And ontop of that, we paid >$30, when a $25 visit to thai express would have been more enjoyable. Maybe a bad time for them but... Pretty unimpressed for its hype it holds so high. All the best Siam

Pretty Good. Came here on a Saturday night, restaurant was very busy and although we had no reservation we were seated right away. Service was slow to begin with but once we ordered it had picked up and was good for the remainder of the evening. To start I had the Cucumber Salad (they were sold out of the Green Mango Salad), which contained thinly sliced cucumbers, tomatoes, and lettuce. It was just okay, spicy and refreshing at the same time, but I wasn't huge on the flavor; I definitely prefer the mango and papaya versions better. For entrees my bf had the Pat Thai with Chicken which also was dotted with bits of tofu. He enjoyed it and I loved the bite I took, almost enough to regret what I had ordered. I ordered the Vegetable Stir Fry with Peanut Sauce. The vegetables were snow peas, broccoli, and cauliflower among others. The sauce was very good, perfect consistency and not over-bearing. For the 2 entrees and the appetizer, including tax, the bill was under $40 and we both took home leftovers. I definitely would come back again to try out some of the other dishes!
Autonomous
Awesome, Awesome and more Awesome!. Each spoonful is so flavourful. Doesn't matter what you order, you won't be disappointed. By far the best Thai bistro in Winnipeg. Great service and a great fried banana!
LT
Great food. Slowest service ever!!! After 40 mins after ordering the waitress said it should come out soon then took another 11 mins for it come out. Not a good place to eat when your starving.
Gnick
Better off buying from Vanxaii. Although the menu off of urban spoon claimed delivery, none has been offered in the last 3 years. Mixed veg stirfry was a joke, might as well have pulled it from my freezer and microwaved it. Red chicken curry, half the size, half the taste, twice the price as vanxai. Sour and spicy soup, not sure how you could screw this one up, but lo and behold, my gorgeous world travelled fiance wouldnt even touch it. Save yourself $15 and eat at vanxai's 79 st anne, wont be upset.
Lea
Huge Menu. Everything we've tried from Siam has been fantastic. Nearly everything on the menu is offered vegetarian, so the menu is super thick. Our favourite is the Mee Crob; no other restaurant's Mee Crob is half so good. The service was excellent. My only complaint is that our server spoke so little English, she only understood the dishes by number, not by name.
Mr_dbc
Disappointing at Best. First impression was rather good based on the warm environment and Crushed Mango Slushy(tho I was overcharged). I ordered the Chicken Drum Stick appetizer and was served 4 half wing pieces smaller and less tasteful than the worse 35 cent wing joint in town. Our main courses were the Chicken with Oyster Sauce and the Almond Chicken. There was not even an inch of cut up chicken breast let alone any oyster sauce! The Almond Chicken again was packed with 95% fillers. I just love the way people that are so cheap expect a good tip by giving you all small bills for change. The overall price was fair but we would have been 10x more satisfied spending half the money almost any where else in the city.

Great Food. My wife and I made it in just before 5 pm and beat the rush. By 6, all the tables were full. The food was very different from what we normally eat and we both loved it!<br/>We tried the stuffed wings, spring rolls, 2 soups and 2 entrees and were very impressed. The service was friendly and efficient, the food was served in a timely manner and the Thai beer was cold!<br/>Try the duck!<br/>We will be back!
Lara
A couple friends and I tried out Siam Thai last night for the first time and found it absolutely fabulous. Great food that was extremely healthy; copious amount of veggies in each dish! Nothing was battered or deep fried like Americanized Asian cuisine can sometimes be. Service was good- make sure to ask for their advice on dishes. Will definitely return!
T.Ly
Decent Thai Food. Compared to most other Asian restaurants, Siam Thai has nice, modern decor. The servers are dressed up more formally as well. When asking questions about the menu, the server was able to recite the numbers of the menu item, the ingredients and describe it without hesitation or looking at the extensive menu at all. They are very knowledgeable and helpful. <br/><br/>I like noodle dishes, but I prefer more vegetables than the standard pad thai, which is why I enjoy E6 Stir fried thick noodles. It's not dry, as they describe it. I've had a few different curries and appetizers, all standard. Nothing I've had stands out as amazing, but I didn't have any complaints.
Jim
Really Good. There was four of us and we tried many dishes.Everything was so good.We will go back again.
Macattack
Their food is fantastic- red curry, spicy rice, and sour and spicy soup are the usuals. It would be nice if there was more refills of waters or drinks though. Great place though!

Customer with head in the sand.... When reading reviews where fellow customers whine about pricing - here's a question- why do people fail to understand that food costs are on the uprise? Think of the cost of peanut butter, or the high cost of basic goods like flour, sugar, and fruits and vegetables in the grocery stores now. What about the three wage increases to our minimum wage in Manitoba in a year and a half? Has there not been significant increases in our gas prices? It is obvious to me that these issues would affect the pricing in a restaurant. Wouldn't that make sense?
William Yaeger
Great service, good food. Very nice red curry and pad thai. A little on the high side for price but it isn't bad for well done food and good service. We'll be back
Ginger Beef
Simply amazing.. yellow curry with beef melted in my mouth. Chicken pad Thai was perfect blend of flavor and spice. Fresh springroll was just that FRESH and great cilantro aftertaste. Overall very impressed.
LuvToEat
A7-appetizer was awesome. Also,#17 with peanut sauce was excellent. The sauce was made into perfection. 5/5 for good service... All in all, good food...great time:)
SpiceLife
Great Thai Food. Good place great service. Love the golden purses (get it with peanut sauce). Panang Curry right up to par. Chilli jam is nice.
Nedbraden74
Amazing is all I can say about this restaurant. We had for starters the deep fried spring rolls chicken and shrimp two of each, red curry prawns over fluffy jasmine rice, chicken pad Thai, stir fried beef in oyster sauce. We loved the stir fried beef in oyster sauce so much we ordered another to take home and have for lunch the next day. The service was very good, very personable young man. We will be back for sure, I think we might have a new favorite.
D.mac696
Gone downhill. I to remember when this restaurant was in a smaller venue. The portion`s were bigger, and the price was good. Now they have moved into a bigger venue..the prices have gone through the roof and the quality has gone down as well. In other words....What a rip-off!!
Lina Limpson
Tom yum here is sooo good!
Jennifer Upton
Good food. Yummy and well priced
Lovetoeat
Delicious sauces. I love love their sauces. Probably the best Thai food outside of Thailand that I have had but it is soooo expensive for what you get. I always say I will order from there and just add my own chicken breast/veggies/meat to this dishes to soak up the sauce and get some value. It is delicious but very skimpy on the meats/veg in the dishes. Very nice red curry cocounut sauce and green curry. Their masaman is good. Magic Thailand is a lot better value.
Bravo
Siam Thai. Great service, tasty food, friendly staff. This place is hopping so make a reservation.

A personal favourite!!. I've been to Siam Thai several times now and I absolutely love it. I've tried a different dish each time and have continued to be impressed. Among my meals was the Creamy Chicken Galangal soup, Masaman Red Curry, Peanut Sauce Stir Fry, Pad Thai, Tom Yum soup, Golden Cups (appetizer), Coconut Curry and the Yellow Curry. <br/><br/>Thai food is my favourite and I have to say, Siam Thai makes it the way it should be! It's always flavourful and the prices are fairly competitive. <br/><br/>I read below that someone said you could not customize the spice in the dish and that's not true. The servers don't ask, they generally make it the standard way, but you can make a special request and they will oblige.<br/><br/>On one of my recent visits, the young server impressed me with her knowledge of the menu, when I asked (not thinking) about the #25 and she seemed to know every item on the menu (and there are MANY of them) by their number, English name, Thai name and her thoughts on them. She could even compare them to other dishes from both her restaurant and others. <br/><br/>The service is attentive and relaxed, always pleasant and never rude. It is a little family owned restaurant and rudeness doesn't appeal to customers, and judging by how busy the place gets after 6pm, they know how to bring them back!<br/><br/>In the last little while, the price of coconut milk has skyrocketed and I was afraid that so many of my favourite items would hit my 'that's too much' factor but I was pleased to see that, although they did increase slightly, the pricing is still fair and very reasonable!<br/>The restaurant is located in a little dingy strip mall just two blocks South of Bishop Grandin Blvd and I nearly missed it the first time I went by. Don't be fooled by location/outer appearance, the inside is delightful and, most importantly, delicious!!<br/><br/>Consistently amazing, this is definitely close in the running for my favourite restaurant in the city!<br/><br/>N.B. As an addition to this review (months later) I have been to many other restaurants in the city trying the same things to compare and NONE other can scratch the itch for proper Thai food like Siam can. If you want the good stuff you HAVE to come here.

Offensive service. I had previously enjoyed Siam, but maybe it's because I hadn't had need to ask the staff for any help before. <br/><br/>I ordered dry curry with fish, which I had eaten several times before, and it arrived looking like it usually did but smelling very different and very unpleasent, with an overpoweringly pungent, stinky fishy odour it had never had on the other times I had ordered it. It smelled to me as if the fish used was off or as if someone has spilled an entire bottle of fish sauce into it. This was a surpize as all other times it had been a favorite, but it smelled so bad that neither my fellow diner or I felt comfortable eating it. I gently raised a concern wtih our server when she noticed we weren't eating, she agreed it smelled very fishy and as she was agreeing, a man came over, and said he was a manager. He was confrontational, telling us we didn't know their reastaurant. I noted we were regulars and had never had a problem with ordering this dish before . He said we were mistaken and that the dish was always prepaired this way and that we must have been ordering something else. I explained the dish looked the same but smelled terrible, he said we were probably order the chicken not the fish on previous visits! He then said that if I had a problem with the food I could pay for it and leave. I told him I wasn't comfortable eating or paying for food I didn't feel was edible, but he told us this was our only option and then left our table and stood by the counter with another male staff person, clearly both talking about myself and my fellow diner. We asked the server for the bill, and she seemed apologetic and embarassed, and politely offered to pack up our uneaten food. I said she could just throw it out.<br/><br/>I used to drive half an hour out of my way to eat at Siam, and continued going as the prices steadily increased. Now I'm done and wont be back and will be happy to provide them with plenty of negative advertising.

Nice place,,,,,,,. Went to Siam for the first time last night with wifie and daughter. Nice decor and service was ok, nice to see the children helping out clearing tables and bringing out plates. I had the Thai rack of ribs with spicey rice, I would say the ribs were not Thai flavor at all but the rice had a little kick. The girls had stirfrys and a side of sticky rice, they both enjoyed them. I would perfer to have my Thai made by desired heat level, but that is not done here. Will come back again and try something different.

Happy accident. Have heard a good amount of positive feedback about this restaurant. the dining out gods brought us through Siam's doors for the first time yesterday. we were quite surprised to walk inside and see such a good looking interior - don't let the exterior shoddy strip mall fool you!<br/><br/>we were greeted and seated immediately. our waiter was incredibly attentive and friendly. service was prompt, but not rushed. and the food was delicious! <br/><br/>we started with the fresh spring rolls, which were wonderful. for dinner we each had the thai-style pad ba-mee noodles, one with chicken and one with pork. i had mine without the spice - novice palette, hah.<br/><br/>while the menu listing does seem a bit redundant in places, the selection of items are great. i can't wait to go back again and try different dishes.

Laur. Stopped in for takeout tonight. As usual the place was busy, but still quiet enough to have a conversation. The lighting is just right for an intimate dinner or a great place to take your friends. Also the premises are always clean. I picked up Massaman curry with chicken, and jasmine rice, two of my favorites. The food is consistently excellent as is the service and the staff. I can't recommend this place enough. Thank you for another wonderful meal.

Intolerable behaviour.. We came here & promised will never step our feet on this place again. The servers were only kind to a certain race, but not to others. We went to restaurants in Winnipeg a lots, but this is still the worst experience that we ever had. <br/><br/>Why did I even spend my time writing this review? I just read that I was not the only one who had the same experiences & it makes me really angry.

Poor Attitude. Very rude customer service. I just god told by the server that he does not like me and that i should get out of the restaurant.<br/><br/>Refused to give me reserved tables...extremely rude.

Declining quality, increasing prices. I used to rave about Siam Thai to everyone I passed as it was my favorite Thai restaurant in the city. I've ordered from here a couple times recently and been supremely disappointed. Everytime I order it seems that they have a "new" menu - same items but they've added $2 to the price of each dish. This has happened twice this year. I agree with the reviews below noting that they have tried to make a lot of the dishes waaaaay too sweet but otherwise flavourless and the meat is hard to find. <br/><br/>On a positive note, the green curry was still very tasty. But I think I'll be ordering from another option from now on.....

Super nice, hard-working staff. The food is quite consistent, except for maybe takeout. Love love love their peanut sauce as well as their spring rolls.

Used to be good.... I remember when this was in the smaller adjacent space on the same strip mall. The space was smaller, but definitely felt like a small family run business where the quality of the food was superb, prices were high, but worth it. Now, since moving over to largere adjacent space where the dance school left vacant everything went downhill. <br/>At least before, there was justication to the moderately higher prices for a hole in the wall type restaurant. Nowadays, portions are small small small and barely any of the represented meat in the dish, and the price are atrociously high for what you get. <br/><br/>The menus are still horrendous. About 14ish pages of redundancy. I'd thought with the move, and more classy ambience, you would think they'd trim down the menu so it doesn't read like a novel. Only problem is the length of the menu doesn't spell more dishes, just same dishes repeated over about 4 different types of meats it can be made with and vegetarian section. At least they changed the horrendous lucida handwriting font that was difficult to read before.<br/>For the most part, the food still tastes alright. Although inconsistent. I noticed some stuff, like the peanut sauce stirfry, pad thai, and some curries, nowadays are sweetened so much it tastes like candy to appeal to the western palate.<br/>Service has been okay. I noticed they hired more servers now, which is reasonable considering the growth of the restaurant. But again, lost some of the family run feel.As well, service may not be most attentive.

Great great great!. I've ate at Siam many times in the past few months and have never had a bad experience. Food has always been amazing, service is great, no complaints. Highly recommend Siam over any other Thai restaurants in Winnipeg. I've been to majority of them, and have travelled to Thailand and this is the only place that is even close to as good as the food in Thailand.

Family favourite. You can't go wrong with Siam a large menu w/ great food and good prices, the chicken galangal soup and sticky rice is one to crave, spring rolls w/ peanut sauce, and just about everything else is sure to be enjoyed. must try rest.!!
I Love Good Food
Never again.. Expensive. Not fresh. Nothing but noodles in the Pad Thai... So not worth the $24 for two orders. Should have gone to Pad Thai. Really. That bad.

GROUCHY WOMAN. I dont mind the food but it does not compare to Sukhothai at all. The reason I dont like the place is because of the one woman that waits on people. She is not very friendly at all. She never asks how things are or says thanks for coming. I dont think she know how to smile either. When people like that represent their restuarant like that they turn people away. I seriously feel uncomfortable even going there because I feel like I`ve done something wrong each time i go. If you hate your job so much then get somone else to greet people and serve them because a bad attitude reflects on the entire experience one has going there.

Bland and pricey. Unfortunately this place does not live up to its so called reputation as the best Thai restaurant in Winnipeg. I've been to Thailand and loved their food, and was hoping that this place would bring me back to the amazing culinary flavours of that country. The flavours are pretty subdued and compared to other Thai places in the city, the price is steep for what you get. I don't mind paying for food if it's good but it wasn't anything special at all and the portions were small.<br/><br/>Seriously, $6.50 for 4 deep fried spring rolls filled with cabbage?? The dipping sauce was the blandest fish sauce I've ever tasted. The 4 skewers of chicken satay ($7.99) was decently grilled; the peanut dipping sauce was passable.<br/><br/>I love green curry with chicken but this tiny bowl ($10.99) was filled with more green curry sauce than veggies and meat. It was very disappointing.<br/><br/>Also had a shrimp and veggie stir fry dish...another mediocre dish. Rice is also extra at $1.50.<br/><br/>The restaurant itself is newly renovated with modern furnishings and a new coat of paint decorated with Thai art and pictures. Service was nice and welcoming.<br/><br/>I just don't understand why this place is packed on the weekends?? I agree with the reviewer below on their comments.

Siam thai. I am wondering if the other reviewers have tried food from the other thai restaurants in winnipeg. i thought the price was steep , especially when the taste was not authentic thai, no spice , little flavour. the matsaman was allright . personally i would recommend laos-thai in st,vital , their beef laap is amazing , and true to real thai taste

Yummm.... Went there for the first time yesterday. It was so amazing that I went back today! :) I agree that the pricing is a little steep but it is well worth it.

Expensive. Food is good, but too expensive. I can count on one hand the pieces of meat in the curry.
