Review Nicolino's - Winnipeg

Patrick Werestiuk
One of the best homestyle Italian restaurants i have been to. Prices are reasonable. Our waiter Ken was awesome and was very helpful with explaining the dinner choices.

The restaurant was good I went just before dinner. The atmosphere was okay, the staff seemed a bit cold🤷🏾‍♀️. It was just an okay dining experience. I ordered the Fettuccine Chili Cream Prawn Pasta, no regrets! It was a hot and yummy😋 dish, with lots of flavours and the pasta al dente and the salad was really good 👌. I enjoyed it. I'd probably order out next time instead of dining in.

We were a party of 9 in the back room. Server was excellent, food was great. Salads and mains were served to all of us at the same time with no one waiting for their plates. Larger groups can be a challenge, but the server and kitchen staff provided top service. We will be back.

One of the best restaurants I’ve been to! The food was great, the environment was friendly, the staff were outstanding. Our server was very informative and helpful, he was kind and nice. I ordered pasta with shrimp and was super delicious. The pasta and shrimp were cooked just fine. Their lasagna was perfect as well! Oh and the bread sticks were awesome!I liked their patio too.I will definitely come back.

Wonderful place with wonderful people. Loved the variety in the menu. Great food and many healthy choices available.

Food was excellent. Our server was so helpful since it’s our first time eating there. We didn’t feel rushed, we enjoyed every minute of it.

Stumbled on this restaurant on a random day out. We decided to give it a try and it was a pleasant surprise. The service was great and the food was equally outstanding. It also makes for a good sports bar if you want to catch some sport events with friends while enjoying lovely Italian cuisine.

1) Total number of guests- 2 pax

2) Time- 11:45 am (Lunch)

3) Guest Welcome- Average- the server didn't have a smile or happy attitude, she didn't introduce herself upon our arrival and gave only one menu to share! Upon request she got another menu and mentioned that due to Covid-19 they are not reusing the menus (printed menus were filled in the plastic file pockets. In my opinion it could have been easily reused if wiped down with sanitizer and reused to save paper and plastic use).

4) Meals ordered- a) Yellow fin Tuna Cheese salad and b) Spaghetti Alfredo with chicken breast.

a) The salad had just the right amount of oil and vinegar in it. It didn't taste over the top with the vinegar. Adding a bit of black pepper enhances the taste of the tomatoes in the salad(you can request the server to bring you some black pepper). Tuna tasted very good !

b) The Alfredo sauce lacked flavor and the spaghetti got pretty dry after a few morsel. Requested the server to get some extra Alfredo. It took almost 10-12 mins mins for the Alfredo sauce to be made and the spaghetti turned more dry and cold in the meanwhile. The extra Alfredo sauce served tasted bitter (excess parmesan cheese was added to the sauce). This was disappointing! The chicken was an add on and was grilled right. It was soft and juicy!

The best part of the visit was the complimentary bread served at the beginning of the meal. It was soft and warm. The butter immediately melted and intensified the flavor of the bread.

5) Restaurant Ambiance- Overall very clean and peaceful. Lunch was not very busy. Since it was
a business meeting we had a good environment to discuss matters.

6) Overall - Average experience as compared to other visits.

Attended a birthday dinner at Nicolino’s with family. It was my first visit there and I found it quite underwhelming. It earns its two stars for the attentive service and the Caesar salad which had a nice dressing.

Where it lost points was on the entrees. I tried the fettuccini with mushrooms and prawns. Not only was it totally and completely flavourless but the prawns were tiny and few. There’s really nothing more disappointing than going out for dinner and realizing you should have stayed home because you can cook a superior meal on your own.

I hate to waste food so I did take some leftover fettuccini home because I figured I could doctor it up to actually taste like something. It’s just so terribly sad I had to do that. The menu items are priced extremely low. Perhaps too low. I would prefer to pay much more if it meant a better meal.

If you like Italian food but want a meal good enough to be your last, Carne Italian Chophouse at 295 York in Winnipeg will do. Or drive a little further to Casa Bianca in Winnipeg Beach. For the very best without leaving North America; Filomena Ristorante, Washington DC.

Neither my daughter or myself were very pumped about our meals but that's not unusual when you try something new. Salads were quite unique. Service was good.

Had to try this highly touted pizza, and brought a friend. The Neopolitan style pie was exceptional - the crust was light and crisp, but far too little sauce and toppings. Calamari was crisp and the sauce was lemon deliciousness!!! Shrimp in white wine sauce was okay, skimpy on shrimp for the price. Bread sticks were so tender and flavourful, I stopped eating my dinner so I can have more bread! Will return for some delicious looking salads.

I loovvveee nicolino’s. We usually go twice a month
There serrento salad is the best! And the bread that comes with the meal is always warm, fresh from the oven.
Staff is always super friendly

Nicolino’s has always been a favourite restaurant for friends and family for many years. I’m very disappointed that I am writing this review as I feel that the restaurant has gone downhill in recent years. The quality or their food has become sub par and over priced. The owner is rude and does not care about his customers or future business.

I picked up an order of chicken fingers and salad for my daughter and what I received was inedible. The chicken was over cooked and completely dried out. After playing phone tag with the manager, I finally talked to the owner who proceeded to act flippant and uninterested in my complaint. I felt as if I was just another “complainer” that was not worth his time or energy – no apology or concern was given. After speaking to him I didn’t want the order replaced as the manager offered on a voicemail. I will not give one more cent to this establishment.

Me and my friend tried this place last Friday night for dinner. We were greeted and seated right away at the lounge as we requested. To start, our server served us a warm fresh bread with butter. I ordered the Fettuccine Chili Cream prawns with cashews, grape tomatoes, in a spicy chili cream sauce and tossed salad as side. Love the pasta made from scratch but the sauce was not as good I thought it would be. The sauce tasted like curry without any hint of spice. My friend ordered the Chevre Salad with mixed greens, fennel, red onion, strawberries, pecans and requested to add prawns as protein. It came also in a crostini with goat cheese as side. Our server was very nice and fast but messed up and added chicken instead of the prawns- no big deal and my friend just let it go. Nice selection of wines. Overall we did enjoy the night. Probably will be back to try their thin crust pizza..but won't rush.
Yer Lil' Cannoli
A friend and myself ended up here for a late dinner after an evening of shopping in the area. The lounge was packed with live jazz. Sounded fantastic but we had to sit in the restaurant which was pretty quiet.

We couldn't resist the fact that all their pasta is fresh and homemade so I ordered the pasta Reginette which is wild boar in a tomato sauce and comes with a side salad. My friend ordered the carbonara with a small Sorrento salad. Bread was great that they bring to the table and the salads were both great. Pasta was a bit lacking though. Carbonara was very greasy and tasted like the pan it was cooked in with a mineral iron taste and a bit of a smaller plate. Reginette was more like a vodka sauce and found it sweet which I'm not much of a sweet food kind of person. I wasn't too sure if it was actual wild boar or beef as I've had boar in the past. Huge serving though . Perhaps its because we were there later on in the evening. The beautiful server was attentive and charming, we quite liked her. I found the price to be a tad bit too much as $50 each for a glass of wine and bowl of pasta was just a tad over. Probably come back and try some other things though. Appetizers wine and a little jazz would be nice.

The Swizzle Styx dined here last week and it was perfection! We ate in the private room and simply requested the chef to cook for us so I’m not sure if what we ate were even menu items. Our service was excellent and it was one of the best meals I’ve ever had.

My best friend I visited here for 1st time last night after finding it on google and wanted to try it for ourselves. It was a packed house and the management were very accommodating and wait times weren't long in our standards and got to have a drink for waiting at the bar top. The bartender was friendly and courteous and he made a great sangria! We each had two pasta dishes my the Asiago and hers the fettuccini with mushroom etc. Our waiter's name was Ken and he was so amazing, polite and great representation for the restaurant. My friend and I say this is going to become a more frequent place we visit. Ken was so attentive to us whether refilling drinks or bringing bread etc. Even his articulation of depicting the menu for us and explaining the meals was superb! Probably best waiter I have had to date at a restaurant. Presentation of food was A++ and the ambiance of the room was fantastic. The food tasted perfect and portion size was great we each took home leftovers! We love to visit new places to find those gems in our city and this place is definitely now going to be one of our groups of friends spots we choose. From us walking in the door to walking out all staff so nice and attentive to their clients, quality of meals were A++. We felt so appreciated while there and we were WOWed to say the least! Keep up the great work to everyone there! I get some people have one off experiences at places but this place is fantastic and I never write reviews on places but this place needed a 5++!!! Definitely recommend to everyone!!!

A group of 7 of us had gone here for my birthday dinner. It was our first time eating here and we had heard good things from a family member who had gone here previously. A the time there was a baby shower or birthday going on in the lounge. There appeared to be wait staff specifically for the party. There were two other tables that had 2 people seated. Waiter took 30 min to take our order (little frustrating). Appetizers ( salads, and a simple bruschetta) took over 45 min to arrive to our table. Waitress that served us was rude, didn't pay much attention, and seemed to be annoyed when we asked for more water. Food was alright, I ordered the gnocchi, it was done pretty well. The portion for my partner was so small for the price (he ordered the ravioli) and left him hungry and eating mine. The boar bruschetta we ordered was overly salted but apart from that still good. I chose this place because I love Italian food and because we had heard good things. Unfortunately the poor service and ok food would not bring me back.

Was feeling like Italian as I hadn't eaten it in a while. Found this place to be okay, wasn't super flavourful, it wasn't too bland either but definitely could have used some spices. Started with the calamari and it was alright, but the batter needed some more flavour and the sauce was just "meh". The cannelloni wasn't very stuffed, it was more flat and a bit disappointing. The tomato sauce was good, but there was a strong tang in the cannelloni. I'm used to the soft taste of the ricotta cheese, so I wasn't expecting that. It wasn't the worst, but it wasn't the best either. Ended my meal off with the Sacher Torte and it was yummy. I wish I had someone to share it with cause it was rich and too much sugar for me, but otherwise good. Great and friendly service.
The Hangry Accountant
Gotta love a place the serves fresh made bread to start. The beginning didn't start out super well with it taking a little while for anyone to acknowledge us. The following service was pretty good the only stores was really friendly. The food was excellent well prepared with generous portions. The only let down was the chicken parm it was just okay.

Went this past Saturday to support our Friend's Band playing in the lounge. It was full (great for the Band) but we managed to get a corner booth, couple friends joined us later and the whole time we sat we never got service at our table, had to get our own drinks all night, Servers came by the tables to take the empty glasses but not once did one ever even talk to us. My Husband had to go to the bar several times throughout the evening to buy drinks for friends, the Band, etc., nearer the end of the evening the Bartender decides that my Husband has bought "too many drinks", my Husband explains he hasn't been drinking them, he has had to get drinks for others all night b/c of the lack of service. Bartender not reasonable to this explanation, so I instead got our last drink, then we left. We didn't eat, never got asked, never offered a menu, stopped to eat on the way home. Might go back to try the food, hope the same Bartender isn't there.

We had our meal delivered. The portions are small for the price. Pasta was basic. Paid extra for a Caesar salad and it was just over a cup full of salad. Couldn't eat the over cooked "focaccia bread". As for a place to order delivery from improvement is needed.
We came here Saturday evening for a birthday party. The service was good. I was also very impressed that the carried non alcoholic beer. The Cesar salad was very good, the fresh bread was awesome and I had the spaghetti and meatballs and it was very good. My wife had the chicken Parmesan and she said it was ok. Cool atmosphere too, I also like that they played punk music in the back ground.

I went for dinner. I had the veal balls for an appetizer. Very good and very moist with a wonderful tomato based sauce. It came with with a crusted baquette drizzeled in olive oil. Very generous portion to boot. I also had the chili prawns. The noodles were nicely done (not over cooked) with a sauce that had a little kick. The meal came with fresh bread knots and a salad. The prices were reasonable and the waiter was attentive without being annoying. He made a point of coming and discussing my meal. I had a very enjoyable time and I will be going back!
Lo-Lo
Two of us went for a late lunch on a Saturday, last week of June 2016. We were asked if we would be okay sitting in the lounge. The lounge had all of it's TV's blaring the soccer games and maybe 7 people in the lounge. I asked if there was a problem with sitting on the restaurant side as it was COMPLETELY empty. The hostess didn't really say much and started talking to another server. So then the hostess tells us that if we sat on restaurant side, the server from the lounge would have to walk over from the lounge to serve us. Really ? The place was basically empty and she would have to walk 20 feet. Anyway we sat in restaurant. Still only two of us in the whole place. After fifteen minutes, no one came over to our table. As we had a bit of a time issue, we decided we would just vacate. Almost at the door, and the server comes out from the back kitchen area (??) and says, "oh I was just on my way over to your table". So well, we were "caught" and sat back down. I had the lunch cannelloni, which was served in a large white bowl, resembling tomato soup. The sauce was very good however, but filled about half the bowl ie waaaayyyy too much sauce. There were three finger sized cannelloni at the bottom of the sauce bowl, which I had to feel around to locate, and the filling was barely there. The server only came back once and that was near the end of the meal.
Polyphagia
Their menu says they are a "from scratch kitchen". Yet they were unable to prepare calamari grilled rather than deep fried. Either very unaccommodating, or the calamari is frozen with breading. I ate here many times ~5 years ago and it used to be great. Things have changed...
The_avid_eater
bread was good when it was not dried out. Had a buffet and they ran out of salmon, the pizza was cold and still got charged full price. It seemed it was no big deal to them.

When I asked for a drink, it would take 20 minutes to get it and it was nothing difficult

I would never go back and if I could give a rating of zero I would.

I went for a late dinner there tonight and it was very good. But the service was fantastic. I sad on the lounge side and our server was incredibly charismatic and sold the featured cocktail (which was amazing) very well. The male server made the visit very enjoyable and when a larger group came in he greeted the group with the warmest of welcomes. Being a server as well I can really appreciate that he understood the customer and genuinely wanted to make their stay a good one. Thank you to whoever you are!

Came here for a anniversary dinner for my in laws. We made reservations although we really didn't have to considering it was pretty empty when we got there.
The bread they brought before dinner was soooo good! And we got the calamari appetizer which was really good as well.
The food did take a bit to come but I guess that's because they make from scratch. So I didn't mind. And since they serve bread we weren't starving.
Service was good. Not amazing but I was happy with what we got.
All in all I would probably go back again.

Was on that end of the city so I read some reviews on the restaurant, reviews kept popping up about these amazing bread sticks; and I just was so hoping for some homemade bread or something close there too. It was a nice atmosphere to walk into I felt I could have been in Italy right down to soccer on the television. Service was good I wouldn't say overly friendly though and I could hear her have the same conversation at her other two tables we all have our good and bad days in the service industry and perhaps I caught her on a down day. Bread sticks were amazing however I would say there were more of a bun very fluffy and light! I ordered the chèvre salad it was good I wouldn't say great I had ordered shrimp to go with it which I found them very rubbery but they were flavourful. I was hoping it would have been a little more special the experience however if you are in the area and want great bread then that's the place to go. I don't think I would return though but only cause there was not a big enough wow factor!
Yumyum
Have been several times. The bread sticks are excellent and the salads are good, they are simple and fresh. I really like the gnocchi with tomato sauce.

We have been 3 times now. Each time both food and service were great. They have an oyster special on Thursdays. Only $1 each. Fresh and delicious. Only draw back is they are VERY limited on sauces for the oysters. First time no sauce was available and yesterday only a watermelon minognette was available. Given that. ..we will be back.
Lisa Murphy-Browne
Greatly disappointed. Made reservations but it was not necessary as it was quite dead on a Saturday night at 7:30. Everything was very salty. Ordered the ravioli but it was actually tortallini. It said it was mushroom and sausage filled but I couldn't tell because of the salt content. I habit about 15 small pieces of tortallini in my bowl. My daughter received a huge bowl of pasta but very little sauce. I ate all 15 pieces of the tortalini and the waiter was kind enough to make a comment about how I really put it all back. That was rude. Service was slow considering the place was pretty dead. I would never go back and advise others to stay away as well.

I've been there many times. Food is always wonderful

Cleanliness. We have speculated that the tables are not cleaned from the night before. Now we know for sure. Table was a mess and a bag of packed up food was under the table from the night before. I find this very gross. Time to go to another lunch place.
Ken_and_Marnie
Well, what do I say..... we eat out a lot. And we usually share a meal, so this was like any other day. We ordered the pizza (8") to share. No big deal because, it's got chicken, roasted red peppers, onions, artichokes but we said no to artichoke and asked for extra onions. $15 which again no problem with all theses deliciousness going to be on it. Well....when you receive barely there chicken (size of your finger nails which might still be too big) and onions (when it should be extra). My hubby asked "this is extras onions?". Her response I put it on the bill. Not her fault.

Anyways, we would not recommend the pizza. If you want amazing pizza (huge chunks of chicken etc) is Pasquales Restaurant & Pizzaria on Marion. Soooooo good. Sorry should have taken a picture. Good luck!

What a great date night place. Food was so good!! Not a single complaint. Can't wait to go back!

Gluten Free Chicken Fingers!. I've gone to Nicolino's in the past, but today I went with a friend to use a gift certificate. I'm gluten intolerant so had resigned myself to a salad even though I didn't feel one. Then the lovely waitress informed me their chicken fingers were gluten free... wait, what? When I got them the crust was lovely and crunchy. Delicious with a side of honey dill sauce and homecut fries. I will go again and I will highly recommend! They also said they had gluten free pizza dough.

The food was good. We came back especially for the espresso it is fantastic. We were in Rome and s throughout Italy maybe we were used to the prices and the amount if food We came back for the Baccala it was GREAT but for the amount you get vs the price it's a tad small also love it without the sauce just lemon so the sauce could be on the side In case you do not like it or if it is not needed. The arancini is very very good but the smallest I have ever seen I would rather have two LARGE than 5 tiny tiny. Perhaps we wee spoiled in Italy but I would have come back every week for a bit more
Hungry Heffer
Food is good , salads are big and fresh .. But the service is absolutely horrible ... And the guy who owns the place walks around like a big shot and doesn't give a rats a** about anything ... Dirty tables , had to ask for cutlery twice before getting it .. And had to literally wave my arms around trying to flag down the server who was too busy texting on her phone ... Won't be dining in again , ill just do takeout . It was a shame because I brought some out of town guests here raving about the food but the service sucked so bad ..

Tasty food

A great spot to dine!. Great salads and some amazing specials (the curry salmon sandwich should be added to your regular menu, Nicolino's - it was absolutely fantastic!!). Very attentive service on every visit and a nice atmosphere to enjoy company. A lovely spot to dine! Thank you!
Jen Peg
Great food, price makes it even better!. We dined here today, and the mussels are a must try, they were plump, juicy and not chewy like most restaurants these days. The calamari weren't chewy, and the bison spring rolls were quite different (in a good way) For a bill for less than $50 what a treat. The service was very attentive with plenty of re-fills.
Redriverbluesman
A visit to the Orbit room for a special gathering introduced us to some great appetizers and some good service. Only complaint was the increase in drink prices later in evening. I don't drink booze so initial orders of a double appletons rum & coke, for my wife, with a pop for me were $7, and I tipped $2. Later, my order for 2 doubles, for friends, came to $24. $6 a shot with no discount for doubles. This disgusts me!! I was not going to buy any more rounds and will never give this place anymore business I'm letting everyone know what highway robbers they are. Too bad too, because the menu looked great but I can't endorse this kind of money grabbing.
Paul Earl
Fresh fresh fresh. I had the salad here for the first time today. my wife has me on a diet. it was way more that what i excpected for a measely salad. it was a meal! it was incredibly fresh. with options like this, i will eat salad everyday.

Shameful Excuses. To say I have been a fan of the "Sorrento's Salad" for a long time would be an understatement. I have been eating this salad for years! While I typically pick up from the Ellice location, based on convenience today, I picked up from Pembina or the Nicolino's location.

Now, many restuarants give you a discount if you pick up an order versus eat in. I don't expect it, but I understand it. I don't take up real estate, no one needs to serve me, I don't drink your water for free, or require you to use other staff/energy/cost to clean my table and dishes.

So suffice it to say I was apalled by the response I was given when I asked why I had no bread with my salad. I was told, bread is only given free to eat in customers as they are willing to spend more while they are there! Correct me if I am wrong, but you charged me the EXACT same for my salad to go as if I was eating in... correct??!!

What kind of moron creates a policy like this, further more, trains their staff to insult paying customers, choosing not to eat in the restaurant, with this line of garbage?

When I asked why it was their sister store on Ellice always provided bread, I was informed "we have nothing to do with them". Last time I checked, there is a reason chains/franchises are successful, because of the consistency of the expereince from location to location, you are treated the same, and know what to expect every location you visit. NOT THE CASE HERE!!!

I will never go back to this location. Nicolino's, you can see what a misplaced insult and fifty cents worth of saved expense in free bread will cost you... I will share this everyone I know, and they, everyone they know, and on and on....

30th Birthday Treat. Took my best friend here for her 30th birthday dinner. We arrived at 5pm and beat the dinner rush - good idea on our part as it got very full starting around 6pm. Server was warm and friendly and had great recommendations for food and wine. Bison spring rolls are delicious but a tad greasy this time (have had them before). Caesar salad was decent and main courses were delicious - definitely try the sweet potato perogies - amazing! I had classic beef lasagna and was not disappointed. Portions were generous and we took half of our meals home. A great night out overall!
DillBurgar
At the end of the meal when they brought us the bill, they forgot to charge us for a half liter of house wine. Unfortunately the meal and the service were excellent and I would have felt like a real douchbag if I didn't inform the gal. Damn you Nicolino's damn you.
Camille Dupas
Delicious food and good portions but terrible service both times I've been to Nicolino's. Unfortunate.
Umkellis
Caesar salad lettuce wasn't fresh. Hassle to get chicken on a pizza and servers were not helpful for knowing their wine selection.
The Oakwood Cafe
Fantastic!. I went to Nicolino's today for lunch with my good friend Rosa!!!

It was very busy and opted to sit in the lounge. Our server was very pleaseant, attentive and all around wonderful.

Rosa opted for the Salsicce Al Arabiata $13.00 which was a wonderful Penne dish tossed in a fresh rosee. It smelled so good!!

I decided to go with the Feta Salad $11.50 and added chicken breast for $5.50 (which I though was a tad pricy... but really the total cost of the salad was $17.00 which rivals the price at all the big chain restaurants like Joey, Earls etc). But let me tell you how good this salad was.... it was loaded with feta, tomatoes and a generous supply of Kalamata olives. The chicken was awesome too even at $5.50. It was tender and cooked perfectly. The dressing they used too was out of this world.

Very Very Very Very good!!!

Definately try this place out!
Theo
Terrible food.. Apps were good, except the platter which took forever because "It was all fresh sliced right then!" and anyone who's been to a deli knows how long slicing meat takes..45 minutes? Nope. All 3 dishes we had were all bulk ingredients trying to be doctored up with bland sauce and fancy names. Don't eat here unless you love understaffed/terrible service and expensive-for-what-you-get food.
Joe Diner
This is good. I have met friends here for many lunches over the past few years and even a couple of dinners. Excellent menu and it gets changed up so frequent diners do see same old, same old all the time. I have sometimes found the house pasta sauce to be way too salty, beware. Other than that, I have never been disappointed with the meals and the service is great.
Food Guru
Impressed. Great service, great food and always hospitable. You can tell the food is house made (the wait is a bit longer), nothing is pre packaged or pre made. The wait staff is attentive from the moment you arrive until you leave and very accommodating. Always satisfied when we go there. Would recommend to others

Yummy Food & Great Service!. Love the buffalo spring rolls and pizza! The private room is also great! We've used it for birthday dinners and anniversary parties. So cozy. and the service last time I was there was top notch! We love this litle neighborhood spot!
Joel
Autentic food, good atmosphere and friendly service keep me and the boys coming back!. Me and my fellow co-workers from a plumbing shop down the street have been by this awesome joint on a few occasions now and all of us have had nothing but excellent and uniquely authentic tasting food, great service, and very good overall satisfaction. each time the owner (nick) has come to our table to make sure we are all fully satisfied with our food, and he goes the extra mile to show us how much he cares about his customers! And we really appreciate that!
Foodie85
Really bad. Went here with my dad and it took over an hour and a half to get our food. That is just disgusting in itself. The upcharge for getting meatballs in our pasta was stupid, if i remember correctly was over half the price of the meal itself. There server promised the portion size was huge and when we finally did get our meal the meatballs were gross and just a normal average portion size. The food didn't taste great and you could tell it was being run by teenagers who didn't really care. The owner needs to reassess the lacking menu and his horrible staff.
Roselleturenne
Fess up when you make an error!. What a disapointment. The appatizers promptly arrived, they were lovely. However, we waited over 90minutes for our meals!!! They tried to 'blame' it on pasta. Puleez! Accept responsibility, the restaurant was nearly empty. I believe they forgot to submit our order. All except one of the 8 dinners was actually satisfied with their meals. The rest of us were disapointed with our meals and clearly the server. The service was neglectful. It put a huge damper on our family's celebration. WE WILL NOT be back.

Good food. Suprisingly a good spot 7/10

Just OK. Service was quite slow and disorganized. Italian Veggie Pizza was good but could not make up for the service and blah atmosphere. I would get take out/delivery but would not eat in again.

The Lorenzo pizza is the best thing I have EVER eaten!

Best clubhouse ever!. Their clubhouse sandwich for lunch is the best ever!!! love that they do not use regular bread!! YUMMMMMM

and... their salads are good too!!! And... tea selection was nice! :)

Classic good food with urban twist. We had a family dinner at Nicolinos last night. The food was fresh, hot and good. Tried the mushroom bruschetta, it was perfect.
Service is always impeccable at Nicolino's, would recommend to groups of people with all tastes. There is something to satisfy everyone.

Bad Waitress, Cold Food. Long Wait.. We arrived at 6:15 on a Sunday and got out 2 hours later, it wasn't overly busy. Our waitress consistently let our drinks stay empty. Both Pork tenderloins ordered were brought luke warm, as was another pasta dish. Only one of us enjoyed our dish, the giant prawn pasta. A table behind us knew our waitress and consistently chatted with her, and coincidentally were done eating their food as we were getting ours. Dreadful experience. I think I'll go to the Earls a little more up Pembina for proper service and good food.

Terrible experience.

First time, very enjoyable.. On Friday I came here for the first time with my mom and brother. I thought it looked very nice and clean inside with nice decor. All of the staff were very friendly, and my water was never empty! Nicolino's has a nice big menu with lots to choose from! I was having trouble deciding. I finally chose the margarita pizza and it was SO good. Nice thin crust! My mom had the cannelloni which she seemed to enjoy. I had a bite, and the sauce seemed a bit bland. My brother got the parmisagna sandwhich, which he said was okay, but didn't seem too impressed. I tried his fries and thought they were awesome! I will be back for sure.

Heard Good...Experienced BAD!!!. Service was TERRIBLE! Our server could have gave 2 Sh!ts about us. We were there for a bday and wanted to have a great night out, drinks, the whole thing, but the slow service spoiled that. We waited 1 hour and 15 minutes for dinner...and when it came it was cold, burnt, not good. The breadsticks were sooooo salty, we had to ask for them to be brought out. Caesar's were like tomato juice with vodka. Our server didnt even feel bad or appologize for the long wait for dinner. I'd think twice...or even 3 times before going here!

Great Service, Average Food. My wife and I took my mother out for dinner on Mother's day and were a little disappointed. The server we had, although a bit overwhelmed by the size of the Sunday night dinner crowd at the beginning of the evening, was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient - top marks.

The food, on the other hand, was hit and miss. We shared an order of bruschetta and some bison spring roles for an appetizer. The bruschetta were essentially just Italian roles cut in half, topped with grilled sliced tomatoes, mozzarella cheese . An order of four could have served as lunch for two people. They were't really bad but they weren't very good either. The bison springroles came with a blueberry sauce for dipping and overall they were quite tastey. Not withstanding the fact that I could not detect even a hint of bison.

For dinner I had pork tenderloin which was well prepared and moist. the plating was a crowded mess but the meat was good. My mother had the chicken parmageana and while not thrilled with it, was to gracious to say anything negative. My wife had the pizza which again, was niether good nor bad.

The wine list is pretty good with some decent values and a good selection.

Overall I would have to say the experience was not that great. I give them 2.5 stars out of five and that is mostly because of the good service.

Marvelous.. The service is almost always top notch. The food absolutely never disappoints. The complementary breadsticks are reason enough to go! The basil vinaigrette on their salads is unbeatable. This place is one of my absolute favorites!!

Food is good although we made a reservation for 7:15 did not get our drinks till 8:45 and did not get our meals till 9:15. There were two other tables and three servers plus the manager... We found it pretty ridiculous especially because the atmosphere was impressive and the over all presentation of the food was A+

Valentine's for Three. Had a great dinner here last night with two of my best friends. Nicolino's was offering a Valentines dinner for $40, $10 of which was being donated to Haiti. You got a starter of pan fried prawns with a delicious sauce for dipping. Main course was stuffed chicken breast with rice and black peas served on a bed of yam fries and a trio of desserts which included rice pudding, an amazing strawberry gelato and a white cake drizzled with a basil cream. My two friends did not partake in the special but both had the beef tenderloin which was cooked to perfection served with buttermilk mashed potatoes and an assortment of freshly cooked veggies. We also sampled the bison spring rolls (delish) and the saffron pernod cream mussels which were a little sweet for our palates. The wildberry gelato was also a winner at our table. Will definitely be going back for more of their menu. Service was super friendly as well.

They hands down have the best salad ever. The Sorrento salad is fantastic and everyone needs to try it!

We have a winner.. In my humble opinion tied for first the best pizza in the city.

Prior to South Pembina becoming the new Chinatown , restaurants were few and far in-between in the area. Now, eateries dot Pembina like feathers on a chicken. Serving Italian among a sea of Asian cuisine, Nicolino’s has been standing here for over 20 years and remains one of the etched names in the neighbourhood. The simple restaurant looks unassuming from the outside, as another face in a long line-up of strip mall tenants. Inside, the austere dining room looks bright and modern, but not fancy nor opulent. Servers dart through the dining room and we can hear the chef singing in the kitchen. Fine opera this is not, as we giggle with the opposing table, but fine food it is. The meal starts with bread, toasty warm and fresh from the oven. The beautifully browned crust encases the soft and melty innards. I’m not much of a bread fan but it’s still difficult for me to stop eating this.
