The New White pizza was delicious, I added Prosciutto , Definitely recommended. 12" pizza was super filling and I had leftovers. Service was friendly but a little slow.
Good service and loved the ambiance. The pizza itself was good but I've definitely had better at other restaurants in the city. The crust was very thin and not much toppings.
Stopped by here for lunch and some wine last week. We ordered the lunch pizza and salad combo and a panini with side salad. Food was super prompt, salads out within a few minutes. Salads were full and tasty and the main course even better. Pizza and sandwich were way better than our last experience at the Taylor location which we usually really enjoy. Pizza was beautifully made with lots of cheese and toppings, and of course that delicious coal fired crust we love. Great spot for a reasonably priced, quick, quality filling lunch.
This is the place for pizza lovers. Pizzas are really good. We tried 2 veg pizzas and 2 non veg pizzas, both were yummy. Actually veg one was more tasty. Pizza base was soft and perfectly cooked. Toppings were sufficient.
Some coal fried pizzas taste better than normal pizzas.
2016-10-27 Had a fantastic Vegetarian 16" pizza. Ordered for pickup which went well so can't speak for the service, but my overall impression of the place was quite good! Will surely order again. AND Artichokes on pizza are magnificent!
Super fun place to go on the weekend, back in the summer they had some great music on the patio! I usually come here on Saturday nights for sangria and gluten free pizza!
This is my go to for jets home games. They have the best pizza in the city, and on top of that they let you part in their lot for free during events at the arena and we just walk over!
Came here during the week for lunch with a few friends and ordered their lunch special.
2 topping 10" pizza with a house salad or soup. Calabrese Salami and marinated eggplant were my toppings of choice, with a Greek salad as my side for $1.00 more.
The pizza was pretty good and I enjoyed the Greek salad with feta and kalamata olives. Yum.
It was pretty busy at lunch but manageable and the servers were good. Our group was in and out pretty quickly.
I would definitely visit again during my lunch hour
Went here for dinner tonight the service was amazing right out of the gate. Me and my bf had the turkey meatball app it was super good! We ordered "The New White" 16" it arrived pretty fast and was delicious! Very impressed by the Sangria our hostess made us with white wine and fresh juice! Will Def recommend to family and friends and be back in the future!
We decided to give Carbone a second chance after having not the greatest service at the Taylor location. My wife and I were greeted and seated very quickly and both started with salads. She had the Greco, and I had the Ceasar, and with both throughly enjoyed them. The Caesar is a vinaigrette which was tangy and delicious, very different from the usual creamy, over dressed salad which is all too common. We then had a large pepperoni and prosciutto pizza, that followed our salads at just the right time (this was the issue our 1st visit, almost an hour between salad and pizza) and it was so good. Very tasty crust, sauce and toppings, we both cannot wait for the next time, and will definitely come back to the downtown location. Great service, food and atmosphere, thanks for a great evening!
service was great and the pizza was delicious. I don't even like bananas but the banana nutella dessert pizza thing was so good! I would definetly go here again!
Went for the first time with my boyfriend a few days ago. Service was friendly and accommodating. The lounge was pretty full but the dining area was completely empty so we were seated at the largest booth spot and got the whole dining area to ourselves! We created two very different pizzas: mine was a vegetarian one with basil, arugula, goat cheese, roasted red peppers and roasted garlic. It was amazing! My boyfriend ordered one with mushrooms and the sliced turkey meatballs, which he enjoyed very much. It became a little expensive because of how many toppings I requested, but overall the experience was delicious and I would definitely eat there again :)
The New White is one of the best pizzas I've ever had! The toppings always taste so fresh! And the crust... Oh the crust! It's got a crisp outside and soft, airy and pillowy inside! Perfect! Whenever I crave pizza this place is always my go-to! Not to mention the Caesar salad with a very classic egg yolk, Dijon, and anchovy dressing! Also love that they always use fresh parmesan, not that powdered crap. Only downside to this place is that service is usually mediocre at best especially my service tonight.
Love the pizza here- I always get the same one. The Peppino, it has arugula, prosciutto and cherry tomatoes. Delicious. I come for the tasty pizza but sometimes the service is so terrible it's laughable. Definitely sometimes a bit rude. Worse in the summer when they're int their weird bar mode. Servers seem to be there to be seen, and not do their job well. Cool weather it seems fine since it's slow and management can be a bit more attentive. If I didn't love the pizza so much I wouldn't go back but if you go to have a beer and expect zero from the service, then you'll be fine. I recommend picking up pizza, it'll come cold if you order it through Skip the Dishes. Don't go for the whole dining experience Go if you want to have some tasty pizza and can laugh at crappy service. You're just getting pizza anyway so just lower the expecations and sometimes you'll be pleasantly surprised. Definitely recommend! :)
We shared the New White pizza, which had spinach, pesto, and several cheeses and it was quite good. I highly enjoyed it, my companions thought it needed some pizzazz and asked for balsamic vinegar to drizzle on it. I also had the Tortellini Zuppa, which was delicious
I love Carbone! I've been a few times for bdays, meetings, downtown tours etc. Sometimes they have DJ's on select nights and their happy hour is cool too; buy 3 draft beers and get a free pizza from pm - pm I think. Its a great location for me as its a few blocks away from my work, and we always recommend it btw. I recently tried "The New White" (Ricotta, Parmageon, black pepper, cherry tomatoes, spinach, pesto & roasted garlic oil) and the "Tyrol" (Italian sausage, ham & sauteed Mushrooms). The New white was the best for me and I really enjoyed the crunchy thin crust-> that's coal fire grilled. The Panini's are very filling as well. The patio is nice for the summer and have DJ's there some nights as well. There are some tables where you can free pour your own beer with as little or as much as you want and they also have a full bar. The Servers are very friendly and tentative, the gentleman that we had was great at his job, always made sure we had water and all new guests' coming in were greeted right away. Definitely check this place out if your in Winnipeg!
Absolutely unreal pizza, for the price you pay, you definitely get your money's worth! Premium toppings, coal fired, so good! Nothing like it in the city! Pizza, pasta, and drinks on the patio! Perfect night out!
Me and my boyfriend decided to try this place yesterday, we got seated in the bar, we didn't like our seats (high bar seats) so asked to be be moved to the restaurant (which we weren't offered first off) which was completely empty, we got Caesars and 2 pizzas to share, a 16' tyrol and a 12' new white, both were delicious, we were surprised by the new white because theres no pizza sauce just a oil based one, it was delicious. i think its our new favourite pizza place, the crush was delicious, only complaint is the waitresses wearing skirts that barely cover their asses.
Great spot for great pizza. Service was top notch, very attentive and accommodating. Love the gluten-free options. Will be visiting often in the future.
The new white gluten free pizza and caprese salad was a nice combination. Flavour was good but over oiled on both. Atmosphere including servers 4. A good bar/restaurant.
Having tried Carbone's in River Heights and having had a terrible experience there, I was very reluctant to try the downtown location. However, the downtown location does not have warning signs on their doors warning you of blackened crust which I see as an immediate advantage over the first location.
I have had the oven baked wings which were a delight, the sweet onions were quite tasty though a little more salt would have brought out their natural flavours better enhancing the breakdown of the sugars and giving it a better effect. The red wine sangria is wonderful, still dry but sweet enough and I love the orange chunk on the side. The "New White" is absolutely amazing. If I didn't already know that Little Pizza Heaven has their buttery garlic crust, I'd say it is the best pizza in the city. Now if we could get the New White on LPH crust, that would truly be Heaven.
Service was prompt, if sometimes a little chatty, and the manager at the time, Terry, I believe, was very eager to make sure our visit was a pleasant one. I definitely suggest this place and will be back again!
Simple, fresh ingredients. Light, crispy crust. Amazing Caesars and service. Contemporary atmosphere. Definitely recommended.
Thee best gluten free pizza crust ever!!
Great Downtown Pizza Option!. I've dined here a half dozen times before Jets games and the pizza has always been great. Light crust (not greasy) with fresh ingredients!
SwizzleStyx. Had lunch here yesterday and luckily was not in a hurry, the place was packed! Got a beverage about 30 minutes after arriving and finally ordered our pizza. The pizza was fantastic, super delicious with loads of taste. The server was definitely friendly and apologetic, they simply didn't have enough staff on hand to handle the full house. I also agree with some previous reviewers, the place is crazy loud! It's Christmas and I was in a good mood, so I enjoyed the chaotic atmosphere and didn't mind waiting but I wouldn't come back if I was looking for a quick meal. The patio looks great for summertime so I'm sure I'll be back, it's a great spot for something a little different downtown.
Feb 2017 - Had dinner here last week with friends and it was even better this time around. Fabulous meatballs, salads and pizzas...service was also great!
Very good. Pizza is a favourite, traditional or something different. This was excellent we shared a few so we all tasted a variety. Without exception they were all excellent. Service was great and we were a fairly large group. Will definetly go back
Great Pizza, nice spot. Dropped in fora quick dinner and really enjoyed the Tyrol Pizza. Also really liked the ambience, would definitely return.
Solid Lunch Spot. This was our first time to the restaurant. I'd reserved online asking for a table with beer on tap. When we got there they seated us at a table without, and I asked to be moved. They said everything was reserved, but came back a minute later and moved us after checking our reservation, so kudos to them there. Its somewhat noisy and small but has a vibrant atmosphere. My buddy and I split a pizza which was fantastic, and another buddy went with the wings and said he wouldn't recommend them. I think if you stick with the specialties you can't miss. We will be back again.
Its nice to have the metered taps at the table but if you can't pour a good beer without alot of head, the beer will end up costing you much more than bar service.
Went before the Arcade Fire concert. I enjoyed my pizza. The service was brilliant. A must before an event at MTS.
Simply great. Great service! The pizza I ordered was absolutely delicious and not heavy at all - I could actually walk out after eating here. Self-pour beer is fun and interesting. If the restaurant was busy, I could see how going to pour at others' tables would be a great way to make new friends. Definitely a place to return to!
This is a great new addition to downtown. Great food, prices, staff and atmosphere. Gluten free options are a plus if you require it.
Good Value. I enjoyed my visit here.
The interior décor is pleasant. It is far from elegant, but a definite step up from a fast food place. The place is split in half. One half is the lounge and the other the dining room. The dining room has a padded bench that runs along one of the walls. The rest of the area is filled with tables and chairs. In total there are about sixteen tables in the dining room. There were three televisions mounted on the walls of the dining room. It was the end of the lunch hour, so I was the only customer. As such, I have no idea what the noise levels would be like when it is busy.
My server was very friendly and knowledgeable about their menu. There are a few non pizza options on the menu. The standard sizes for the pizza are 12 and 16 inch. All pizzas are thin crust. I opted for the lunch special. It is a ten inch two topping pizza plus soup/salad and a soft drink (or coffee) for $13.95. The soft drink refills were free. The salad wasn't very big, but the vegetables were crisp and very fresh. I asked for my pizza to be cooked well done. The crust was crisp, but the pizza was not cooked very dark. The topping coverage wasn't perfect, but it was better than I had at their Taylor Avenue location 2-3 years ago. The toppings along with the cheese are not piled very high. The sauce was plentiful and had a good flavour to it. I also liked the cheese that they used.
There are about four dessert options, but I didn't partake.
They advertise a self pour option in their lounge. I didn't have a beer, but I did go into the lounge to take a look. My waitress was more than happy to give me a tour of the process, which she did with great enthusiasm. It seems like a complex way to get a beer in a lounge that isn't that big to begin with. Three of the tables in the lounge have beer taps. There are about ten different taps to choose from. Each table has a video screen. You are given what they call a "button." Each member of your party who wants to partake in the self pour gets their own button. The button looks like a miniature handle off a winch. You do not prepay for the button...but apparently that option is available if you plan on being a frequent customer.
The button is placed on a portal for the video screen and this activates the system for you. You follow touch screen instructions and are able to draw your beer from one of the taps at the table (two tables had four taps, the third table had two taps). You are apparently charged by the ounce...different brands have different prices. Once you have accessed 24 ounces (two glasses of draft), your button doesn't work. You have to flag down a server to further "authenticate" your order. This is their means of trying to avoid over serving someone. If you are judged to be sober enough...they will okay you to order more beer. The system logs your expenditures and adds it to your bill.
Overall, I thought this place has a slightly above average quality and is a good value given the prices that they charge. I will go back.
The pizza is absolutely deliciously!!! The crust was perfectly cooked. The service was superb! They have drink special for most nights and they are good, as well. The bathrooms were clean and tidy. If you are in the Winnipeg, you must stop here.
We had a sweet 16 party here. The staff went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. Food was great! They even stayed open an hour late for us! Highly recommend!!!
The restaurant is really nice inside. Very modern, lots of TVs. The staff are very friendly.
Lunch prices are very reasonable. The beet salad is delicious.
Very nice server, I'm from the states and she, Anna, gave me a bunch of tips and places she likes to do. The soup pictured was one of the best I've had and the cocktail, red sky something, was incredibly tasty. The bread was very fresh and the chicken was well seasoned. Will definitely be going back!
Went for Le Burger week, excellent burger looked just like the photo. Everything tasted fresh, friendly and quick service.
Will definitely be back to try the pizza.
The ambiance in this place was amazing!! The lights dimmed down for the night making the atmosphere a bit more romantic which was nice and the music selection was also good. The place itself is really nice and a definite spot for a romantic dinner for sure!! The pizzas we had were simply delicious, just like everything else. Unfortunately we didn't try much else besides the bruschetta, which was good but I found the pizza to be definitely more delicious, but I will go back and try the pasta and the other menu options in the future.
PS the staff is pretty damn good too, even the manager was on the floor walking and asking if everything was to our liking, which was refreshing I believe. So, overall a really amazing experience and definitely recommended!! 😋😋
Wow is the new menu ever good! The pasta is so good! Lots of TV's so it's a great mix of high end dining with great prices and a fun atmosphere. The staff were very attentive and prompt. I'd highly recommend trying it out. Parking is handy for a downtown spot and it's the best pizza in the city. Definitely worth checking out!
