Have been eating here for more than 15 years and never fails. Amazing food, wonderful portions and family owned hospitality that makes you feel like you’re in a small town. Just can’t beat it.

First time here. Just passing by and decided to try. Turned out to be a great idea. Chicken souvlaki platter and Spankopita. Both were excellent. Huge portions. A definite positive review.

Great food! Great taste, more than adequate portions, and reasonably priced. At home atmosphere. One of my favourite places to eat. Why eat fast food, when you can have a real meal? BTW, Santorini's home made Tzatziki sauce is now available at Co-op and Sobeys.

Super good food. Theodora's and Dimitri's veggie omelette is so tasty and satisfying to your taste buds. Very filling for a great breakfast. Chicken Slouvlaki, greek salad, soups, ETC EVERYTHING is good here.

I love the owners and they are very loving. Bathroom is downstairs past the kitchen.

Must try eating here. Best ever!

I've been meaning to try this place out for a while and I finally did. I called my order in and lady I spoke with seemed very pleasant.
Checked to see if they had a Chicken Souvlaki Pita platter which I'm sure majority Greek restaurants will have on their menu.
Their platter came with soup, Greek salad, lemon potatoes and chicken souvlaki pita.

The soup was tasty but I do wish I tasted lemon in the Soup. I believe it was their lemon rice/avgolemono soup. It was pretty good but I do like more of a lemony tasting avgolemono soup.
The Greek salad was pretty good but I missed the kalamata olives. There weren't any in the Greek salad which some would not miss, but this girl here enjoys her olives!
I requested French fries instead of lemon potatoes as I was in the mood. Tasty, crispy and golden.
And that leaves me with the chicken souvlaki pita....

Wow... Very tasty, tzaziki sauce full of flavor! Thicker sauce and the tender pieces of chicken were bigger chunks and not dry. Tomatoes inside there as well. The pita was grilled slightly to hold all that goodness together!
Definitely one of my favorite chicken souvlaki pita's I have tasted so far.
Price was $12.99 and just under $15 with taxes.

Very reasonable price and good portions.
I will most definitely be coming back to this place very soon!

Don't judge a book by it's cover. This little place is a hidden gem! The vegetarian Gyro is by far one of my favorites, oh and the homemade Tzatziki dip is to die for. The owners are sweet & genuine people just sharing a taste of their Greek culture with you. Καλή όρεξη!

Slow service, no credit cards or debit accepted. Food heavily over salted. Ordered pork souvlaki, chicken arrived. Greek salad was bland. Generally not great.

Good Greek food, great price!. Feels like you're getting a home-cooked meal.

True mom & pop operation with authentic Greek cuisine.

Not fancy but also NOT expensive - You be stuffed for less that $20!

Try the mousaka!

Breakfasts are a geat deal, too.

The food is to die for, the drinks are good and the service is friendly. I'll be a regular customer and it will pay off!

Eat the Moussaka. The first rule when dining at Santorini is to always ask the lady if she has any moussaka. Rule 2: if there is moussaka, always order the moussaka. Rule 3: refer to rule 1.

Seriously, this place is the best! It's like having a home cooked meal from your very own Greek mama. I absolutely love her moussaka! It's the best I've had... period! When she's out, I like the chicken souvlaki pita. Basically, it's all very good. I guess you could have the burgers, sandwiches, or spaghetti, but why would you when the Greek specialties are soooooo good! I would definitely recommend the Greek salad and greek potatoes over the fries. The fries are ok, but the homemade potatoes are so nice. Her tzatziki also is very nice, and worth asking for some extra for your potatoes.

What's more, the people who run the place are soooo nice. You feel good about eating there. It's a cash only business, so please remember to bring cash; no cards accepted.

Truly, I feel like I'm coming home when I go to Santorini. It's the best kept secret in St. James. Love it!

Wow! Was at that end of the city and let Urbanspoon be our guide. Did not disappoint! Portions were huge! Service absolutely top notch. Felt like we'd been coming here all our lives! Food prepared perfectly. Hash browns were amazing! Need to make excuses for trips to St. James!

Always had an amazing meal! Service is friendly and the portions enormous. Best kept secret in city.

Try the moussaka and savour the goodness.

How is it that an understaffed, simply decor'd, inexpensive Greek restaurant can survive in St. James? Because they consistently deliver! Haven't had a bad dish at this favorite lunchtime place ever. Generally busy, always tasty, hard working people who want your business. Cash is king here, no cards accepted!

Delish. I tried this place for the first time this past week. Had the Chicken Gyros platter. The chicken was delicious. Very tender and seasoned wonderfully. The fries were not good. They seemed like they were McCain's fries that were overcooked in old oil. The Greek Salad was good. The soup which seemed to be some kind of bean vegetable mix was very good. I would definitely try this place again.

Good Value & Food. You get mounds of food for a decent price, and it's pretty good. Not the best Greek food I've ever had (Chicken Souvlaki), but still a great place to have in the neighborhood. Not a fancy restaurant inside but the staff are nice and the food is good. And the canned drink selection IS good. Any place that carries Diet *Pepsi* in my books is worth visiting again.

Really Likes it. Tastes great. Best grilled cheese on portage avenue! Canned drink selection is top notch.

Sadly, but not unexpectedly, there were no good non-salad options for a low-carber here. I contemplated having a souvlaki and just not eating the pita bread. This would have been an option, but I would have been looking for more food after.

We are extremely fortunate within our immediate circle of family and friends to travel the world. As I write this a close friend is in Greece. Social media allows us to travel vicariously through photos and updates. Lo and behold after gazing at your pictures-I had a hankering for Greek cuisine! By coincidence, my friend is on the island of Santorini and Winnipeg has its very own restaurant by the same name: Santorini 1839 Portage Ave. in Old St. James The moussaka was my choice (an obvious one if you are familiar with my addiction to eggplant). This traditionally prepared dish was exactly as I remembered from my brief time on the Greek Islands where I first tasted the dish. Theo and her husband Dimitrios’ version contains spiced beef rather than ground lamb. The eggplant has been beautifully sautéed and the layers of it and potato are richly satisfying. The crowning glory was the luscious béchamel sauce layer. I could eat the beautifully browned custard on top of any c
