Nice little location and atmosphere. I had the smoked salmon breakfast which was pretty tasty. Coffee was good, really no complaints here. I’d go again!
We are regulars for both in-restaurant and take out here, and are always appreciative of the quality, value and service here. Staff are always helpful and cheerful without overdoing it, and having a chance to wander the neighbouring gallery before or after our meal or while waiting on takeout is an added bonus.
Visiting on Friday we noted some additions to the menu and were happy to try them: appetizer of Brussel sprouts and main of salmon Wellington. The Brussel sprouts were a pleasant starter, but, wow, the salmon Wellington was so, so good. Pastry was flaky, salmon perfectly moist, cream lemon spinach sauce so, so good. Lovely pilaff of brown rice and fresh veggies that comes with was also excellent- nice texture and perfect, fresh sweet peas work so well in contrast to the rice. Plus the pilaff ensures not a whiff of the lovely sauce gets left behind!
We really love that the whole menu is wholesome food with slight but welcome twists on the classics. I've never asked about this, but one thing of note: I'm guessing part of the Stella's aesthetic is to hinge on the healthier side - there's not a single deep fried item on the menu, which is so welcome. We come here as a family and honestly the lack of French fries, hot dogs and other standard "kiddie" food is deeply appreciated.
Locally owned and operated, locally sourced healthy food. The ambiance, background music and location is my favourite. This is the hidden gem of the Stella’s restaurants in Winnipeg.
Great menu with a breakfast all day selection. The omelette was delicious and their homemade jam is superb. All baked goods, including desserts, are done by Stella’s themselves. Grass fed beef burger is delicious and even better served with sunny side up egg. Roast chicken cranberry sandwich awesome! And tasty side salads.
Just sit back enjoy the food, service and ambiance. A wonderful experience.
Wonderful! Have been here for breakfast on the patio and recently had the family out for dinner here, all 12 of us. Everything was great, the food, the atmosphere, the attentiveness of the server, the overall hospitality. Thanks, you helped make our family reunion a fabulous experience!!
The menu had good variety, with something for everyone. I had the Phad Thai noodles. The dish was tasty and had lots of veggies. The star of the meal was the vegan chocolate cake. It was delicious. I couldn't eat it all so had some the next day and it tasted as good, if not even a little better. It was fantastic. The service was friendly and the atmosphere relaxed.
Four of us came up to Winnipeg from North Dakota to go to the Lumineers concert and a person in the row in front of us had struck up conversation with us and suggested we go to Stella's for breakfast. We were staying downtown but decided to check out the location in St. Boniface for a change in atmosphere as none of us had been to the French ward before. The look/location of the building was not quite what we had expected, but the inside was very charming. It was pretty busy around brunch time but we only had to wait about 5 minutes for a table. Our server was very attentive, greeted us in both French and English, and we had drinks/waters right away. The menu was very expansive and it was tough to know what to pick. I was in the mood for something comforting, a French toast and coffee, but the Salmon Benedict looked too good to resist. Three of us got the Salmon Benedict and one other got the standard eggs and bacon Café Breakfast. We also got a small order of the French toast with maple caramel sauce to share. This was one of the best breakfasts I've ever had. The presentation was beautiful and for only $13 CAD (about 9 bucks US) it was a huge plate of food. The smoked salmon was delicious (this wasn't smoked salmon from a grocery store), and the spinach lemon sauce was very fresh and lightened up the dish. The layers of flavor were creative and complimented each other very well. I'm not a huge rosemary fan so I didn't think I'd be crazy about the scones, but the hint of rosemary was just enough to make it interesting, and my eggs were poached a perfect over-medium. I wasn't able to finish my plate because the portions were so big - I only wish that I had gotten fruit salad instead of hash browns just for something a little lighter. The hash browns were also very good, not greasy; we just forgot that hash browns at most restaurants in Winnipeg are what we'd call "home fries" and not the shredded potato kind we were expecting. They had a good flavor. The French toast with the maple caramel sauce was to die for and went perfect with the caramel latte I'd ordered. The latte was so smooth and creamy, it has basically ruined coffee for me because I haven't had anything since that compares in flavor. My sister ordered a mimosa and the champagne was bubbly, not flat, and the orange juice had just enough pulp. The glass came decorated with an orange slice. You could tell the chefs/baristas cared just as much about presentation as they did about flavor. You could go to any Denny's and for 9 bucks get some mediocre food slopped on a plate. Our food (even just the bacon and eggs/toast) was just as beautifully presented as it was delicious. Meanwhile our server checked on us just the right amount. We never had empty water glasses or want for anything, but she didn't pester us either (it's a fine balance). We raved about our food during the whole meal, and still talk about how delicious it was - each of us agreed it was the best breakfast we've ever had.We go to Winnipeg a few times a year, and Stella's will be our new go-to place for breakfast/lunch on every return trip. Just wish we'd learned about it sooner.
I love the atmosphere and the food is good. It's one of my favourite places to eat in Winnipeg. I had the salmon eggs Benedict which is excellent. Everyone at our table was pleased with the food and regularly come to eat.
Love this location! Discovered it by accident one day and now it's my go to location! They have the cutest patio ever which is HUGE and surrounded by nice trees and some shady spots. Food is obviously on point I've never had a bad Stellas meal in my life. If you want to have some sangria and...
So glad that Stella's finally has a location closer to the east side of the city. Have visited on several locations including breakfast, lunch and dinner and our party has always been greeted and seated promptly. Food is always a hit with everyone at the table; menu has something for everyone.
Great spot , have been a few times and always good, but can be busy .
Good and Filling.. I am a big fan of Stella's, and have been waiting patiently for the one at CCFM to open.
Well, this rainy, cold long weekend presented my first opportunity to try it out.
Stella's was very busy for lunch, but the wait was relatively short. Points for that!
It has a huge patio, which would have been great to try. More points.
The menu is extensive and varied, with interesting and unique selections, and many vegetarian and vegan options. Breakfast and lunch ideas are available concurrently. Definite points for all of that!
The decor was not my favourite; a bit too urban graffiti for my tastes, but that's low on the importance scale.
The server, Emilie, was fabulous! She was cheery, helpful, accommodating, quick, and definitely looking to please her customers. Likewise, we always had attentive people coming by with more coffee and inquiring if our meals were good, and asking what else they could do for us. The staff made our lunch an extra enjoyable experience.
My friend had the Breakfast Sandwich, which is an amazing deal for $6.95: Two eggs, tomato, cheese, and mayo on toasted multigrain bread. He chose bacon as the side, in lieu of spinach, mushrooms or ham, and he opted to add what appeared to be home cut and seasoned hashbrowns for $2.95. He said that his brunch was "wonderful"!
I had the Veggie Cafe: Two eggs, hash browns and breakfast patties. I was curious about the breakfast patties. They were little vegan 'burger' bites made of different grains etc., and a touch too much thyme, although my palate adjusted to the spices and I ended up eating them all!
Because I did not want toast, I was pleased to be offered an alternative. I chose the refried beans, rice, and salsa. I loved the chunky, garlicky salsa. It was excellent! The beans, however, were ordinary, and the brown rice was a touch undercooked.
All portions were very generous. (I will not be cooking another meal tonight.)
Next time, perhaps I will try the Vegan Mexican, or one of their vegetarian sandwiches.
Nope. I went back on August 10th, 2016. I had the Thai Curry for dinner: A generous and delicious mix of red pepper, pineapple and grapes in a coconut curry sauce, with a bit of a bite, served over rice noodles. A wonderful chutney was on top. It came with fabulous garlic bread.
Our servers were great and very helpful and attentive.
Delicious and consistent, Stella's has become one of my favourite go-to places in the city.
Stella is Winnipeg's classic brunch place The price has gone up quite noticeably since last time I've been there but the food menu stayed the same. Serving portions are good, smoothies are good, and they make quite good coffee and tea drinks too. This location is always busy but has enough tables to go through the traffic fast.
Lovely experience! Annika was amazing. The food was incredible, pretty sure you couldn’t go wrong with any item on the menu. Our server gave us recommendations that were great. Portions were huge. Great music and atmosphere.
This was my second visit to Stella, and both times they have been fantastic. The meal was delicious. Breakfast Pancake, Chorizo Hash, and Salmon Benedict are my top picks. The cuisine was excellent, and they served excellent sides. The menu offers a wide range of options, and it has been created to appeal to a wide range of individuals. In Winnipeg, I suggest this restaurant.
The food was very good. I really liked the dragon bowl I had. My family ordered some other dishes and they liked them too.
A short wait at 7 o'clock on a Saturday night. Patio was nearly full, but the inside dining was much cooler after being out in the heat all day long.
A refreshing glass of white house wine, a peruse of the menu with good detailed descriptions never seems to fail coming to Stella's. The wait for our meal allowed for talking time and refills. The staff served the patio patrons and provided food service to the beer garden with the band next door. Very tasty fish tacos with a Caesar salad and a large bowl of Pad Thai filled our needs. Usually, I have the double Chocolate cake that's a mile high for dessert, but not tonight. The robust coffee was endless and less than $60 bill left me very satisfied.
Small queue on arrival. The front of house placed us outside on the patio where we were hoping to secure seating. The menu's were delivered promptly. The waitress took our order and checked on dietary requirements. The food was served quickly and smelled divine. I had the chickpea curry, my friends had the Grass fed Beef burger and the Tourtiere with a Caesar Salad side. Everything was fresh and delicious and the portions were generous. I have no images to share because we were so hungry we wolfed it down 🤣 Service was also 5* Very professional and friendly.
I frequent this location often. 1-4 times a week. Food is terrific. The staff are always friendly and they always strive to improve quality and value feedback. I am very thankful for the management team at the Provencher location as they always do their best to ensure expectations on quality and service are executed to an exceptional level. Great location with great people.
This place was great! I came here with my French class and the waiters spoke French with us. It was a fun way to practise our French.
The food was great too. I got the chorizo hash. It was hearty and I still had some left over for a takeout. The store has a good vibe. It was very open and had a lot of natural light.
We went on a Tuesday evening. We made a reservation for the place because it was quite popular. Try to be there on time because they may give your reservation away. Other than that, great place!
