Review Wasabi Sabi - Winnipeg

Paige
Great service, nice atmosphere and food was delicious. The food was so well balanced and inventive, best sushi pizza I've ever had (the rice was so light). Red delight is a fun earthy vegetarian roll. Will definitely be back!

If you're looking for authentic sushi, this is not a spot, this a fusion place. Place is definitely way over priced and under served. Will admit though, their veggie tortilla was pretty bomb! The interior of this restaurant looks like a lounge, a lot of parking available, clean and really friendly staff

You’re not just looking for sushi.. you’re looking for phenomenal sushi right? Then look no further. Wasabi Sabi is as great as it gets. When it comes to fresh sashimi, amazing service, and overall pleasant dining atmosphere, you need to check it out!

Service was not great, friendly but slow, the rolls were not the best I have had in the city as they seemed greasy. Oh yeah, and it was very expensive. I don't mind paying for great food but this was not up to par.

We came in with out a reservation. We had to wait even tho the restaurant was nearly empty. (During the no covid, no mask, no sitting restrictions month). The place was freezing cold. Service was a bit slow and the server wasn’t friendly. The food was really good, we were able to see the chef and cooks are pros and enjoyed our appetizers and sushi rolls very much.

You get what you pay for... This restaurant is expensive but worth every penny. Hands down it was the best sushi I've ever had. Unique flavors that complimented each other perfectly.

Will always come for a New Style roll and Spicy Mango Prawns when home. Other items I enjoy now that I'm stuck in Winnipeg are the spicy tuna nachos, the volcano roll, well torched with tempura crumbs, and The Henny God 2.0.

OhMyGoodness, It Was SO Yummy❣️Esp. After Thinking We Were Underdressed, The Menu Was Limited, With High Prices, As Well As Only A Half Glass Of Plum Wine Available - However, We Were Very Pleasantly Offered Off-The-Menu Items, Which Were ABSOLUTELY SCRUMPTIOUS❣️
Mary Brabston
Ordered THE most expensive item on the menu and shared it eith my companion. Seafood platter easily 10-14 different types of seafood, including fried amaebi shrimp heads. Amazingly great. Good saki, great service, and a great special dessert. Great meal! Great bar! Great evening!

It was ok. They seated my husband and I in a very uncomfortable booth in the lounge. I was shocked that they only put expensive items on the menu and didn’t have much interest in regular maki and don’t have what they offer with prices in that realm. Everything was double the price elsewhere, and I can’t really see why. I ordered 2 rolls on the menu and the bakudan which was not. The bakudan was far superior to the other “special rolls.” If it isn’t broken, why fix it? I get that they want more money, but I can get better sushi at half the cost with proper seating.

This was our third visit to Wasabi and once again the food was amazing. We are very preticular on service as most places it's deplorable BUT we had the most wonderful experience and our server could not have made the experience any better. Would recommend Wasabi to anyone.
John Toyne
Our meal had one excellent dish. The rest was mediocre at best. Not worth the high prices.

This was our first visit to Wasabi. We (party of 7) went to the taylor location. Very friendly prompt service when we arrived. We were seated in a private dining room. Our waiter Terry was funny, knolegeable, and great timing were hit with our family get together. Food quality was great, and tasted fresh and delicious. Great night out, We will definitely recommend to our friends and clients.

The Swizzle Styx dined here last week and it was excellent. I forgot to take pictures but everything we had was great and the service was quite good. It is a bit pricier than a lot of sushi places but you can feel and taste the quality in the food and service. We will be back.

Wasabi Sabi on Taylor (next to La Grotta) is quite nice and it is very elegant. This place reminded me of walking into a high class restaurant in Las Vegas. I felt underdressed when I was here on a casual dinner date with a friend.

The service was excellent. I was offered coat check when I walked in the door during my visit in Dec.

The restaurant serves a number of speciality rolls, a selection of sashimis, wagyu beef, and other hot dishes. The price is on the higher end in comparison to other sushi places in town, however, the food was very good.

During my visit, I had the vegetables tempura, rainbow roll, sabi mushroom roll and truf e veggie roll. Of all, I enjoyed the sabi mushroom and the rainbow rolls the most.

I would highly recommend Wasabi Sabi to all. If you're looking for an elegant sushi restaurant in town, this is the place to check out.

Our top 5 favourite sushi restaurants in Winnipeg. It is not busy so the service is pretty fast and excellent. Happy hour from Monday to Friday, 3:00-5:30pm with $5, $12 menu and $1 Oysters (with minimum order of $15 before taxes per person, orders of 6.)
So their happy hour prices are great but the portion is a little bit smaller than wasabi on broadway.

I have been here twice so far with my boyfriend. The food there is amazing. I have had many different rolls and every single one has been great. The tuna nachos are amazing as well! Service is also great

Came here for lunch last week with my husband. He had only visited the wasabi in Osborne, and me, I had never been to wasabi. So we figured we'd give this location a try.
Went there around 3ish and it wasn't busy. It was also happy hour prices which is always nice.
Ordered the following:

Happy hour:
- 2 orders of gomae
- 1 crazy 88 roll and tuna roll
- new style sashimi

The gomae was good. The crazy 88 roll was good as well as the tuna roll. Nothing too too amazing on those two rolls but still good.
The new style sashimi was good but the hubby and I both were in agreement we prefer regular sashimi. The new style is thinly sliced salmon and tuna lightly seared with oil drizzled on top, green onion and I believe their house sauce or a special sauce. It was good, but the we prefer reg. sashimi.

We also ordered the bobbymar roll which is a little on the pricier side ($25 I believe), but it was very tasty.
You can tell the quality is there.
The menu didn't show the typical rolls you'd find at other sushi places (ie:Alaska roll, bakudan roll, salmon avocado etc..). But you can still order these rolls which range from $5-$8.

We ordered an extra salmon avocado roll which was tasty with bigger pieces of salmon compared to other places. Quality was there as well.

Our server was very friendly. She was also very helpful and attentive. She also gave us a free birthday ice cream which was a great finish to our meal. We chose mango, and the sesame ice cream on her recommendation which had fruit (pineapple, strawberry and dragon fruit as well). The presentation was pretty :). The sesame ice cream was awesome and comparable to peanut butter ice cream as our server mentioned.

Overall I would definitely come back here. Happy hour prices - can't go wrong. Service was great!
It's a little more expensive but the quality and atmosphere was great. I would go back.

We are Japanese cuisine lovers! During our travels to Hong Kong, Japan, British Columbia, Toronto, we look for the best Japanese food.

Wasabi taylor and Yujiro are our top two Japanese restaurants in Winnipeg.

What stands out is their purchase of quality ingredients. For example, salmon sashimi here is a much higher grade. The texture and taste are different than sashimi from sushi hon, sushi N, sushi Ai, sushi cushi, Bimi, Naru sushi, etc.

Additionally, authenticity of Japanese cuisine is maintained with a hint of fusion.

We ordered appetizers, special rolls, wagu beef nigiri (must try!), and assorted nigiri. Nothing was over the top and weird.

Negatives of our meal:
1) Wagu beef on nigiri was not as good as the ones we've had at Miku restaurant in BC. The beef had some very chewy parts which took away the texture and 'melt in your mouth' experience wagu beef should provide.

2) sunomono salad was sub par. Translucent noodles were soggy. Octopus slices weren't very fresh.

3) great quality Japanese food for Winnipeg but still lots of room for improvement when compared to top Japanese restaurants in big cities

Don't visit Wasabi if you want "pound it out" "fill me up" sushi- big slices of mediocre sashimi on lots of rice, big rolls, sloppy making of sushi and plating, etc.

We were full and content after our meal with the cost of $120. Expensive indeed, however a treat to high quality Japanese food in Winnipeg once or twice a year until we travel is justifiable to us.

Whether we frequent the restaurant, or order through Skip the Dishes, Wasabi Sabi never disappoints. We almost always have the Sushi Tortilla and Will-San roll and then throw in sashimi or try a new roll depending on our appetite (for 2 people). Fish is always fresh, rice is the perfect consistency and the citrusy sauce on the sushi tortilla is to die for. Always very well done! Pricier, but you get what you pay for.

Lots of Sushi places in town, and most are hit or miss, but this place was on point! Delicious Tempura Shrimp, and the Sake is deadly! Keep 'em coming! Will be back.
Clarissa
Went for lunch today. It was very nice inside the restaurant, especially the lounge area. They had a good lunch menu as well. The presentation was very nice, and their service was very good. Definitely will come back, recommended for a good date night.

The food at Wasabi Sabi is very good -- I especially like the Tuna sashimi and the lamb. I'm not a huge fan of sushi rolls but I enjoyed the ones we ordered and my guests thought they were delicious. Cocktail menu and wine list are interesting as well. A little pricey but the service is good and the atmosphere is great so well worth the money. I'd highly recommend them for a night out with friends or even a great date night.

LOVE Wasabi. This location is a bit different than their other ones. Came here during their Happy Hour. Everything was great but the New Style Roll is my favourite. So much flavour in a roll. The sauce for their oysters are awesome. The menu is a bit pricier so Happy Hour pricing is a bonus! Gave them a 4 due to the serving forgetting about us in the beginning.

Prices might be a bit high but every penny is worth it. Best sushi you can find in the town. Service and ambience was top notch too. Highly recommended!
P.s don't forget to order Godzilla and Bob Marley!

Wasabi serves some of the best sushi in Winnipeg. The place has a fabulous vibe and the decor is top notch; service is good too. I would recommend this restaurant to those who like sushi and are looking for a fun, upscale night out. The Spicy Mango Prawns, LOL drink, Team Alex roll (secret menu & if only available they have all ingredients) and Mahalo roll are just a taste of my favourite dishes here.

Not impressed after spending $80 here for 2 people and receiving bland service. The sushi was average to the usual sushi I spend $60 for. However, we did enjoy the yakitori platter and I highly recommend anyone to try it if you plan on going for a date. The sushi rice was also done extremely well but the flavours stood similar to other sushi. The texture was the only thing memorable about the sushi. So in conclusion, not coming back.

I checked out Wasabi Sabi with a group of friends last week. I'll get the positives out of the way first: service was great and the restaurant was very sleek and upscale. I was also impressed by the variety of non-sushi options on the menu. Also, the presentation of the food was excellent. Okay that's about it! I wouldn't say the food was bad here, just mediocre for the price range. I had a tuna shooter to start, which should have been a little burst of flavor but I found it to be a rather bland mix of ingredients in a shot glass. Really too bad. I also had a veggie sunomono salad which was also too bland; it didn't have the right vinegar / mirin / sake ratio and I was left disappointed. I stuck to just one roll, a tiger roll, which I was also disappointed with. The shrimp was hard and rubbery which took away from the usually awesome taste of a tiger roll. We ended with a crème brûlée, which was partially cold in some areas (It's meant to be served at room temperature), so, not the best dessert either. My friends who had ishiyaki, spicy prawns and the godzilla roll also agreed that while the presentation was great, they would pass on going again. There was one roll that my guy did fall in love with, but for the life of me I can't remember it (except that it had asparagus in it!).

Valentines day, disappointed.. I brought my wife here for valentines day and I was quite dissapointed. The food was good, but the rest was not great. We were sat at a tiny table in the bar. The service felt very rushed. Instead of a nice romantic meal I felt like a walked out with a 100 dollar bill for a rushed snack. I will never to a holiday or date night here again.

Disappointing ending to a great dinner. I had gone to Wasabi many times and loved my experience at all the locations. The Taylor location was the restaurant my friend and I had chosen to go to last night. We ordered a lot of our favorites including the lychee martini, jumbo mango prawns, and the caterpillar roll. We tried a new dish, the butterfish, and it was delicious! The meal was 10 out of 10, until the dessert came. We ordered the ginger pear sponge cake. We tried not to judge a book by it's cover, but after tasting the dessert, it was worse that the way it looked. Though the presentation was fine, it was very boring. It was not Wasabi quality like their appetizers and main dishes. The cake was difficult to cut through, so much that one scoop from the fork completely dismanteled the cake. It did not come together in one bite; it should have been cake, pear, and their marscopone. Which, their marscopone, if they can call it that, was the worst thing I've ever eaten. It was not sweet, tart, buttery, or tasted like anything in fact. It was tasteless but with the consistency of butter and cream cheese. It felt like we were consuming a lot of fatty chemicals with surprisingly no flavour. We returned the dessert after a bite each. When the waiter presented us with the bill, we were shocked to see that the dessert was still on our bill. We had nicely asked them if this was a mistake, as customers, we were not satisfied with our dessert. The waiter asked the manager, and the maager gave us a weak and generic answer that if we didn't like our dessert, that is out of their control. I am very disappointed. Any restuarant would attempt to save our evening and turn it around with a replacement dessert with no charge, or remove that unsatisfying dessert off our bill. The manager took no pride in his restuarant and his ability to retain happy customers. A proper manager at any establishment, whether it be a mom and pop restaurant or a well established fine dining restaurant would have apologized for the incident and made some way to change the negative experience to a positive. Wasabi on Taylor may be great for their sushi dishes, but definitely fell flat on their dessert and ability to own up to their mistakes. I do not recommend their desserts, that's for sure.

Been here a few times and really good and high quality sushi. Favourites are: mango prawn, and King crab. The lycheetini and LOL drink are my favourite. Sushi was really good. Expensive but a good and romantic place to have dinner. Service was also good to
Manticolynne
Loved it. Love sushi and this was the cat's meow
Jessica
Amazon food, always, no question. I just wish the service matched. It's hard to pay $100 for a dinner when you spend the most of the evening infuriated at the lack of service. Please please please train the servers!!!

I'm from out if town and really enjoyed this place. Will definitely go again

Delicious food.. The sushi here is some of the best I've ever had. The Mahalo roll and the Crazy 88 roll are both full of flavour and are favourites of mine. The fresh oysters are tasty as well.
ELF
Num.. They were out of 3 of the things we ordered (of 7)... but everything we did get, was good. Rolls... I feel I could get more for the money elsewhere (without sacrificing quality), but the variety in other dishes was worth it, along with a great atmosphere! The 'Yellow Belly' martini was nummy also.

Best Sushi Place in the city. Have not had better sushi anywhere else.
Very othentic!
Is more pricey but its worth going to!

Awful service. Without saying a word, the waitress walked away while taking my order to get a drink for another customer. Never go back.

Sushi at its finest. Best sushi i have had in my entire life, always at 100%!!! if you haven't gone, you haven't lived!!!!!!

Best sushi in Winnipeg! Loved the East meets West roll - expensive but worth every mouthful. My other faves are volcano & mango tango.

Dilemma. Wasabi Sabi unquestionably creates "foodgasms" - BUT it is truly overpriced. I have eaten a lot of sushi in my life (here and across the North Pacific Ocean) and feel that there is no reason their "hit and miss" service deserves to charge up to 60% more than places like Blufish and Yujiro that are quite capable of rocking your world as well.

SERIOUS QUESTION HERE. CAN SOMEONE WASABI MY SABI ?
Datoff
Ruined Valentines day. Romantic dinner NOT.
15 minutes and i had to ask someone cleaning the next table to get a waiter so we could order drinks.
Very slow. Poor service.
After 2 hours had to ask for my bill.
Had to send it back to be re-calculated because we did not get part of our order.
Never again.
Jimmy
Overpriced, Bad Staff, Questionable Food.... We came here once, the first waitress was really nice, she took our drink order and explained the menu, but she was off for the rest of the evening. The next waitress was pretty non-existent (there were 3 other tables there that evening with another waitress) and this one just disappeared... When we finally got our order, it had a lot of mayo and was so not worth the $75 we spent. Never going back there, ever. Could have ordered 3 x the food, we ordered the sushi pizza and two other rolls that I can't remember off the top of my head.

Oh and when we asked to package our food, she never came back with it, even after we paid. Classy. After waiting for an additional 15 minutes, we just left.
Derek
Obese Sushi. This is the overpriced McDonalds of sushi. The sushi rolls are lathered in mayo and other non japanese American fast food dressings. The size of the rolls are so large they barely fit in your mouth, this is obese sushi. Just another overpriced suburban fake sushi joint for bland palettes. If you know your sushi this place is a joke. And the decor is strip mall "modern."
Beverley McIntyre
Mediocre for the price. We returned to Wasabi Sabi after a 2 year absence and I remembered why I didn't go back sooner. The surroundings are beautiful but the service was so poor, I ended up looking for the waiter in order to pay the bill. I enjoyed a couple of unusual dishes but the rest were pretty well run of the mill except for the prices. We paid $146.00 plus tip for 2 people. I thought it was too expensive for the quality and the service. The place was near empty the day we were there so there certainly was no excuse. May gave them another try in a couple of years.
Melanie
Sitting on a bed of dressed greens, inside a fried wonton "bowl" are tender, meaty tempura prawns tossed in a creamy mildly spicy mayo with sweet pieces of mango. Possibly one of the best menu items, this dish is well suited as an appetizer for two or a light lunch for one.
Augusta Elle
Absolutely Delicious.. Anyone who says that they don't like wasabi, does not appreciate sushi at all. Wasabi is the best sushi restaurant in this city. Their spicy mango prawns, Mahalo rolls and east meets west roll are to die for! Also, when others complain about the price they should consider the location, the atmosphere, the portions and the QUALITY of fish that they serve. the rolls are substantially bigger than say a lower end sushi restaurant. All in all.. Wasabi is definitely worth the try, i promise if you are a real sushi fanatic you will be coming back.
YummyInMyTummy
Agreed with most people here-- OVERPRICED.. I honestly dont know why everyone says this is one of the best sushi restaurants in Winnipeg. The menu is extremely over priced and I found myself ripped off after the meal. There are so many more moderately priced sushi places in Winnipeg that is worth your bucks, and this restaurant is definitely not one of them. Don't get me wrong though, their sushi is decent.. They just weren't worth the extra dollars for the same quality ingredients I could've gotten from a less expensive place.
ILoveGoodFood
Very good!. I went here on Friday evening with a girlfriend for dinner and we had such an awesome meal! We started with my FAVOURITE item, the spicy mango prawns appetizer. If you haven't tried this, you must. It's so good. It's about 6 large prawns with a spicy creamy-type sauce and chunks of mango. YUM. Then I had the wasabi tempura roll (my fave!) and a good ol' California roll. For two rolls and 1/2 an appetizer, my bill was $32, which I will admit is pricey, but the food is so good, why not spend good money on good food? I prefer the atmosphere at the Broadway location. But the parking at Taylor is always easy to find.
Chris D
Delish!! Well prepared, creative, fresh. Great service, great cocktails! Best sushi in town! Yum
Virginia Wooolf
Meh, tooooo over priced!. Tiny rolls, BAD service and pretentious atmosphere. Every time i have gone i have been regretful of spending the $$ that i did. My friends and i have decided that when it comes to sushi, you're paying for the atmosphere here... the food was ok not the best, and i can get better if not just as good for a fraction of the price at home or elsewhere, after all, we are the sushi capitol of Canada!
Sara Dowhey
Amazing food, beautiful restaurant. Service is so slow. Probably won't return.
Leah O
Yummm!. Every time I visit Wasabi Sabi, I am more than favorably impressed. Their sushi is incredibly fresh and flavourful, and all the specials I have tried are delicious. They are a bit pricey, but I have always thought that the quality of the sushi here is just reflected by the price.

The Perkins of Sushi. Went to Wasabi Sabi for the first time today. We ordered the tiger prawn papaya salad, pan seared tuna with greens, the rainbow roll, and the white dynamite roll.

The tiger prawns were tough and very salty. The papaya salad tasted like pickled radish.

The pan seared tuna was over-seasoned and cooked almost all the way through. I wanted to tell the cook that "pan seared" means the tuna is supposed to retain its colour and look opaque pink, not opaque beige. The salad it was served with had small cubes of brown avocado in it....not the most appetizing sight.

The rainbow roll and dynamite rolls were ho hum...definitely not worth the money we paid.

We were very disappointed and will not be going back.

Wasabi Sabi. Winnipeger's complain about the prices but they don't realize all that goes into a higher end sushi dinning experience. Decor, music, cleanliness, lounge and on and on are all built into the price. You do pay a little extra but your not getting the everyday style sushi. Wasabi pushes the limits on ingredients to make their rolls one of a kind. We had two rolls that had the word "spicy" in the description and I could of done with a lot more kick. The shrimp and mango starter I would say is a must and the sushi tortilla was just a pass. Don't think I would order it again. Two apps, three rolls, two martinis with tax and tip was $100.00. Host was very nice and the server was polite but felt like he was still in the training mode a bit. Still deserved the tip. Two guests will be $100.00. Don't look for 1/2 price sushi, all you can eat. It's not mall sushi.

You Pay for What You Get!. Be prepared to spend alot here, but recieve the Best quality Sushi and extended Japanese Dishes! First of all, the restaraunt itself is beautiful! Temporary Decor, clean, open concept! Went at Lunch on a Friday and was not busy at all, Excellent Service! Ordered the Veggie Bento Box off the Lunch Menu, and it was SO delicious! Came with a delivicious Mixed Green Salad with chunks of Fresh Mango,Grilled Veggie Rolls,Avocado Roll, Assorted Veggie Roll, all made with Brown Rice..and Miso Soup to start. My Bill was $24.00 with a Water to Drink, but left full and ate every last bit! Great Place for a Date or Dinner with a Group of Friends!

Place is beautiful but the service is lacking in quality, and the sushi is delicious but over priced. I can the same mediocre quality sushi else where for a fraction of the price, and better service. Service there was horrible. They took so long getting our orders, and managed to screw it up a few times.
AJ
Favorite. Having travelled and lived across Canada (Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg, Toronto, Montreal, Halifax), and Asia, I can say that Winnipeg is one of the best cities I've been to for sushi (surprisingly, and despite the fact that the ocean is so far away), and Wasabi is one of my favorites in Winnipeg.

You should be expecting to pay 10-20$ for a roll or appetizer, so in my experience the average bill for two is just under $100. Which is not bad in my opinion for the quality of the sushi.
Mai
First and last time. I think this place is completely over priced. It's a beautiful restaurant for sure, but completely over priced. I don't think the sushi is that great to be so highly priced. And my boyfriend found not one, but TWO fish scales in one of the rolls we ordered. I believe it was the crazy 88 roll. I don't plan on ever going back there again.
Randi
Amazing Sushi. Stayed in Winnipeg last night and visited this location based on several good recommendations. The decor was very nice, modern. I really like all the windows looking into the kitchen. We started with the red tuna sashimi, it was very tender and fresh tasting. Veggie tempura was also very good nice light batter. I was starving and everything sounded good, I ordered quite a few rolls, wasabi tempura, white dynamite, Wasabi California, Will San roll and vegetarian caterpillar. My friend ordered crazy 88 and green spider. Our boyfriends being less enthusiastic sushi eaters both ordered beef teryaki which is just sliced beef, unlike the ones I am used to which include rice cabbage and other veggies. It was amazingy tender and well seasoned. The sushi was incredible. I am fussy with sushi and I liked absolutely everything. My favorite if I had to pick would be a tie between the will san roll and wasabi tempura but the wasabi California roll was popular with my non sushi loving boyfriend. The edamame beans in the wasabi tempura roll added a really lovely texture and flavor. Overall everything was very fresh tasting, presententation was great and the service was good, maybe on the slow side but it is a busy place and I don't mind not being doted on in restaurants. It was quite pricy, but didnt mind paying a high price for high quality sushi. Will definitely return next time I am in Winnipeg !
LovesFood_204
Wow..was it ever good!. I love the appetizers here - Sushi Tortillas, Sushi Nachos, and the Spicy King Crab legs are my favorite. Right amount of savoury and spice. Oh ya and the rolls are good too! It's one place I dont go to frequently as it is more fancier than casual dining. But it's one place I never turn down and look forward to eating all the time.
Diner
The only place in town I'd order sashimi.
DineoutGal
Great food, gorgeous decor...hit and miss service. This place shines in the food and pretty decor categories but unfortunately the service is very hit and miss. Yes, I get it, the Wasabi establishments are the priciest and most stylish places to dine at but great restaurants always have great service to complement their food! I find the hostesses to be unbearably icy here. I don't need them to be all bubbly but crack a smile and seem like you're happy to do your job (which really involves greeting patrons and walking them to their table). Servers are hit and miss here too. Although the sushi chefs are always nice and say hi when you walk by.

Otherwise, the menu is very similar to Wasabi on Broadway. I love their appetizers - new style sashimi ($18 for about 8 thin slice of sashimi) is heavenly. Tuna nachos ($14) are always a fav with a hint of jalapeno. The jalapeno yellowtail ($18) is also delicious. I also love the softshell and mango salad - it's the perfect summer salad.

My favourite rolls are the Will San, ECarriere, Kamakazi - I think most of those rolls are close to about $10. I've eaten here a few times and the only time I've ever been disappointed was when I ordered the $50 (based on market price) Kobe beef. I've had Kobe before and it is super tender and flavourful. Unfortunately the 6 thin slices we received tasted very watery and bland. I mean the marbling was there but it was so disappointing.

Very beautiful decor with a lounge, main dining room and a second level. My fav table is on the second floor where you can watch the sushi chef and the rest of the kitchen do their thing.

Great place but plan to increase your sushi budget! :)

Exquisite. For those that prefer quantity over quality, don't bother. For those that appreciate quality fish, skills and creativity, you will find a bounty here.
WinnipegDiner
Overpriced sushi. I don't know, $80 for 2 and I have to go home to eat pasta because it's just not enough food. The sushi portions are small, so is everything else. To be fair, their sushi is pretty good, but not filling enough. Sashimi is fresh, but again, small portions. Service is slow but friendly.
Mark
They never fail to impress. Amazing sushi.

I like the ambiance!!! It's super cool! You get why you pay for.

The sushi Is delicious and fresh - probably the best I've had in Winnipeg - but don't expect to get a 1 hour business lunch here.

I don't even like sushi and I enjoyed this place. Kobe beef is awesome.

I have known Chef Osten since he was a toddler. The family were good friends of good friends of ours and we would gather for kids' birthday parties and the like. More recently, his Mom and I have become close friends and I have gotten to follow his culinary pursuits from a very unique perspective-through the recounting of his proud parents. Born into a family of creative persons, it is no surprize that Osten is a creator of art too. Food art….my favourite kind. I have tasted the fare from the Broadway Wasabi location as it is available at many retail outlets but I have never had the pleasure of dining there. I always admired the courage and foresight that they opened on West Broadway way before the area began its regentrification. I've also never had the experience of visiting Wasabi's Osborne location. So even though I can't compare locales, Wasabi-Sabi is stunning with its soothing decor and comfortable seating. Laura (one of my lunch dates) is my Asian food mentor-together we have
