Review Aurora Pizzeria & Cafe - Winnipeg

Insalata caesar Pricey at $12 for the small portion. The croutons were very good, but at that price, not good enough. However it was served with a high quality thick balsamic and olive oil... but I don't normally add that to a caesar so I didn't. This would be a skip for me. gnocci al ragu $18 Very tasty. Not the most pillowy soft but it was moist and chewy (My favorite still being at The Fairmont Sonoma in the lounge, but cooked by the michelin star chefs of Sante), but very tasty. It feels like a heartier dish. Gnocchi is one of those things that's harder to price. This was house made. It was served with chili flakes on the side. We discussed that a shaker might have been more convenient, but in the tiny bowl with its tiny spoon gave it a much higher end feel. boscaiola pizza (italian sausage, mozarella, mushrooms) $16 It came sliced in 8. As it sat there, the oil started making the middle of the pizza soggy. The first piece was the best as it still had its structure. However, we asked for the oil and balsamic to use on the crust. I figured it would pair well since I've had balsamic on a similar pizza. It really enhanced the pizza! Dessert: Tiramisu Alle Fragole: Savoiardi, mascarpone cheese, eggs, strawberries $9 I did not have this one as it had limoncello and I'm allergic. Jack said it was good however... It is saying something since he doesn't like alcohol. At $9 its an acceptable price since there is actual alcohol inside. Cappucino Aurora That is the highlight of the top left picture. The tiramisu is in the back. I felt at $4.50 That was a fantastic deal. It was like a dessert for me. Ultimately I can see what they are going with. We had very good service. He explained everything to us and was friendly and chatted about the restaurant. His mother is the chef I believe. Its a family business. There are many touches that many might miss as to why the prices are higher. I still say skip the caesar, get the pizza and ask for the balsamic there. Its a better deal. The setting is very comfortable. The food is all made in house from scratch when possible from what the server was saying. Tea was $3 for higgens and burke :P You are better off with the cappuccino for that price.

Great pizza, really good espresso, and friendly service. super accommodating with my young kids (made them a plain cheese pizza and the other spaghetti with butter and parm). The pasta with guanciale is out of this world. Get it.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have possibly the finest, real-deal pizza in this city. There are a lot of pizza snobs out there, but I would die on the hill defending this place as one of our city's best. A relative newcomer, but bringing the authentic item to our frozen seats. I was spoiled on pizza after living in Italy, and it brings me great joy to say that every bite from Aurora brings me back across the ocean. However, they are not a one note band, as the rest of their food is equally outstanding! After experiencing this place for the first time, it made such a lasting impression on me that every time I have the option to eat out I have to compare my options to Aurora and most of the time the other options don't win.

One of the best salads I have had! Tastes soooo good! I literally order it once a week lol.

Great place for food and drinks. Their cappuccino is very well done. Also they have cool parties sometimes. Overall this place is amazing!

Good location, good food. The menu consists of mostly pizza and pasta. The pizza are more authentic with thin crusts and Italian toppings. The patio is nice as well, though Corydon can get noisy.

Great Italian style pizza. Pleasant atmosphere and helpful staff.

If you love Italian food, you will love this place. We have tried about half a dozen of the pizzas and pasta dishes - they are all exceptionally good. The tomato sauce (made in house - as I have been told) is very good... it takes you back to Italy every and each time. The food is always fresh and very consistent. My daughters favorite; Calamari and Margarita pizza.

Authentic Italian food, nice and cosy restaurant on corydon. We had the margarita pizza, gnocci, and arancini, every dish was delicious! Will definitely be back to try the other dishes!

Delicious! I’ve been here a couple times and it’s so good. Their pizzas are amazing! I love the margarita pizza. I’ve had their calamari which is yummy. Had an appetizer that has ricotta on the bread and the portion of ricotta was huge! I’ve had a couple of their pastas and they are good but others had issues with lack of seasoning in their pasta. There can be a wait for the food.
Update: changed my rating. It seems like their sandwiches are not their strong suit and are lacklustre. The pasta at times can be bland. Lack of consistency with the food needs to be improved upon.

Terrible. Don’t waste your time or money. If you want a good pizza goto super deluxe on river. This place was so slow we left without ordering 25 minutes no drinks even
Very disappointed with order. Carla pasta. Next to no Italian sausage. No visible chilli flakes. Ordered this dish because it looked spicy. Complete opposite. Caprese salad had no balsamic.

I did not have any food there, but Aurora staff made me the best specialty coffee! I asked to be surprised, and I was. It was a work of art; almost too beautiful to consume. I said "almost"! ;-)

I wish I cold remember what the beverage was called, but came hot in a tall, thin glass, with an intricate pattern of liquid chocolate and whipped cream. It was as delicious as it was gorgeous.

I was impressed by the drink, the friendly, helpful staff, the comfortable window seats, and the general ambiance.

I'd love to go back for more of that great artistic coffee.

Delicious and traditional italian food. The margherita pizza was perfect and just like the ones we ate in Rome. The pollo alla forestiera & pasta dish was an instant favorite. I will definitely be back here!

As someone who is married to an Italian family and who has been to Italy, this is about as authentically Italian as you can get. The chef and owner are from Rome. The gnocchi, pizza, meatballs, are all excellent. Most of the staff is great. Some staff are a little slower then others, but if they can speed themselves up, they'll be humming along. Definitely recommend.

Hidden gem! I didn't know about this place until my dad took me here for dinner. I was apprehensive at first because we were the only ones there (though it was 4 on a Tuesday). I was pleasantly surprised and what did it for me was the lovely fresh ingredients. All of the veggies in our salad, and on our bruschetta and pizza were very yummy. Would highly recommend, has a lovely patio.

I've been to this place several times - great terrace and nice interior. Caprese salad very good - pictured is the panino Thomas (sausage and pepper panini)

Honestly shocked and disappointed with our order. We felt both our dishes tasted about as flavourful as a frozen pasta dinner. For $20 per menu item, I don't think it's worth risking again. I have not had the pizza, nor have I dined in so I can't comment there but it's definitely not replacing our regular Italian haunts (Pasquale's, Belissimo, Monticchio).

The Swizzle Styx dined here yesterday and it was terrific! It was a lovely day so we dined on the nice patio. Our server Juliano was great and the food was excellent!! We had calamari, the meat & cheese platter and bruschetta to start and all were very good. We then had a couple of pizzas and Caesar salad and again delicious. The pizza is really special, very authentic Italian and so very good!! Highly recommend this spot!

Really happy we dropped in today on the way home.
Had an espresso, bruschetta, a pizza and desert. Everything was wonderful. I feel the current rating zomato gives (2.9) is misleading as it appears to only have received great reviews.
Will certainly go back

When I walked into the entry space, I felt quite ignored and confused as there is no hostess to greet you and the tables are in a separate room from the entrance. I took it upon myself to go in and find my friend who had already been seated, but I admit I was a bit offput by lack of direction or help from staff.

Regardless of that, the food here is great. We ordered the bruschetta and primavera pizza. The bruschetta was a bit smaller than I expected for the price but still very good. The pizza was out of this world, with soft YUMMY dough and fresh toppings. Very authentic. Would recommend!

Small menu but food is delicious and reasonably priced. Lots of wines and coffees to choose from too. Best pizza I've had in a long time, perfect crust and flavor

I've been a couple times now. Each time the food is delicious. Pizzas are right up there with the best in the city. Crispy and chewy at the same time with flavourful toppings. Caprese salad was surprisingly delicious, I usually find it bland. Service and owners are very friendly. My only complaint is that in the main area the seating is quite uncomfortable and the space/decor isn't very attractive. But I can forgive all that for the awesome food!

This new Italian place has opened up about a month or so ago specializing in neopolitan pizza. The owners are straight from Italy - very nice guy who seems to enjoy moving to Winnipeg. The menu has antipasti ranging from $7-$18 wtih bruschetta, arancini, salads and charcuterie tray. There's pastas availalbe in the $13-$20 range, paninis and pizza napoletana in 8 varieties ranging from $13-$18. There's even pizza romana by the slices during the lunch hour.

The space hasn't changed much except for some minor updates compared to the previous few businesses.

We had the caprese $14 - a tad pricey but it was delicious and didn't need the optional balsamic vinegar. The margherita $14 is simple and delicious. The primavera $18 - prosciutto, mozzarella, Parmesan shavings, arugula and cherry tomatoes was generous with the toppings. The dough is thin with an ever slight chew.

Overall, the place was enjoyable for a casual meal. The service was very friendly and well paced.

Absolutely the best pizza in the city. I've been about everywhere that is a contender and this is the champion. True Neapolitan style, with perfect dough flavour.

To start we had excellent house specialty coffee drinks, very yummy.

Great pasta, excellent portions and beautiful presentation. The tiramisu was also impeccable.

To boot the service was very attentive and friendly. My new go to for Italian and pizza in Winnipeg!
