Stellar! I always try to stay away from the chains when visiting new places so I can experience something unique. This was no disappointment. Don't want to read my verbose review? Summary: cool atmosphere, fancy if you want it and relaxed if you don't, good pricing, excellent food, good wine list, awesome server.
Some of my love was obviously influenced by this building being built in 1900 so it reminded me of a home I lived in and loved that was built in 1914...and I'm a sucker for good prime rib.
I was on a short work trip so didn't have my fanciest duds so was really hoping I wouldn't be underdressed. From the entrance lobby with its brass lion and exquisite wooden panelling and staircase I feared I was going to be too shabby.
If I had gone upstairs to the fancier dining room I may have been. However, my business partner and I stayed down in the very well re-purposed lower bar/lounge which had an amazing feel. Comfy lounge chairs with appropriately low tables achieved the required relaxation.
Our server (I'm sorry I'm awful with names) was also from Edmonton and was the perfect amount of respectful but laid back, adapting to the environment perfectly. Her conversation was a great addition to the evening.
The wine, Henry of Pelham Baco Noir, was well balanced and great value while allowing me to stick to my quest to always support a VQA winery.
Despite not having the baked oysters I wanted, her alternate suggestion of the escargot or scallops was well received and the resulting scallops in mushroom caps that I ordered were simple yet mouthwatering.
Prime rib was tender and only subtly spiced to allow enjoyment of the natural meat flavour. Potatoes and housemade cream of mushroom soup were very welcome additions.
My ONLY complaint was that my yorkshire pudding, although delicious, was deflated and a bit soggy from perching atop my steak. But that doesn't even warrant a half star deduction.
I will remember this place fondly and will very likely break my "no repeats" rule should I land myself in Winnipeg again.
Superb service & food! I was with a group of 13 without a reservation arriving late in the evening and they accommodated us very quickly. Everyone was thoroughly pleased with their meal, our server and the atmosphere. The lamb and prime rib are second to none. Whether you are traveling or live in the city, this is a Winnipeg must!
Best service ever! Had friends in from the us and made it unforgettable. Our server Danusha was the best! Will book more events here!
We celebrated my husbands birthday this past Saturday. We were a group of 36. The service and food was excellent. We would definitely return again. Thank you John, Marco, Chris and the young lady( I forgot her name) you made our evening so enjoyable. Definitely would recommend this restaurant. Everyone in our group were very pleased.
Had a great time for a staff dinner. I would recommend this place for any event.
Had our daughter's wedding reception upstairs, I cannot say enough about the excellent service from John and his staff, and the food was delicious. Would definitely recommend this venue to anyone,
We celebrated my Mother's 90th birthday there in the Board of Governors' private room. Fabulous! They didn't require a deposit for the room, allowed us to bring in food for my grandson who is on a special diet, and helped us keep it a secret when my mum arrived. Service was quick, friendly, and the whole staff is great, food was delicious!! Going here again with some co-workers next week.
Absolutley amazing establishment. The lemon pepper wings were waaaay too zingy for our liking and the manager kindly took them off our bill. Loved the service and the friendly staff. The laid back environment was very excellent as well. Would return again! They also have a great scotch selection!!
We celebrated my Mom’s birthday on Sunday & it was a great evening! The restaurant was quiet & our server Nicole & the other gentleman (Sorry, I didn’t get your name) were both very accommodating & professional & ensured that we were well taken care of. The food was excellent, as always. We have enjoyed many fantastic meals here & guaranteed it will not be our last! Thank you for making it special.
Mum and I decided to try Bailey’s for Mother’s Day this year and we were blown away! One fabulous dish after another, accompanied by superb service. Dessert selection could have been a little more diverse, but overall, a great time. Can’t wait to go back!
Going to Baileys on Mother's Day is a yearly tradition for my family. The service is always amazing, the food is excellent and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. The staff are always polite and go out of their way to make sure we have everything we need, wish all the moms "Happy Mother's Day" and give them a flower. We don't even think twice about going elsewhere because nothing compares to this experience. If only there were a Father's Day brunch, we'd be there too! Thanks for a lovely day! See you next year!
Went to celebrate an 80th bday party. Love the ambiance and our service was wonderful. We had delicious appetizers and a pre-dinner drink. We all loved our meals except for the 1 dinner feature of lamb ordered. our table ordered a chicken dish, medalions, steak n shrimp and prime rib. All of those were excellent. I love to go there for any occasion.
What else can say, but the best of everything. Very impressed
Went to the lounge after a play at MTC. Hor D’oeuvres platter for two was excellent. Nice atmosphere, quiet at that time of night.
