I have loved place ever since I moved to Winnipeg...best Breakfasts and Lunch..great home style cooking that will satisfy the taste buds & tummy! A DEFINITE must stop for breakfast....the "Ronnie" omelette is the best!!
I have been visiting Tracy for over 30 years. Best Ukrainian cuisine out there. Generous delicious portions and engaging staff are the key components to making this little hidden gem one of my favorites when I visit Winnipeg.
The best place for perogies in Winnipeg (dont tell baba). This is one of my must stops when visiting Winnipeg. The Ruben sandwich is off the charts!
Breakfast was DELICIOUS once again! I can never finish my whole plate as the portions are huge! YUM YUM!! Thank you for filling our bellies with your great breakfast!!
food was amazing the twice ive been there and always served quick. when i come back from alberta i will be there again as many times as i can. great job to the staff!
This food is awesome!!! All homemade and the cook is great and the waitresses are the best!!!
Great food. You can see that all the food is real food made with care.
Wicked food and awesome hospitality would defiantly recommend
Went for breakfast with the kids and husband today and the food and service were both amazing!!!! All homemade food, prices way too low, and the owner Tracey and her daughter were beyond welcoming! My son was very happy that he could order fries and gravy in the morning for breakfast. We will definitely be back!
She makes magic on that grill everything is all ways so good
Need more places like this in WPG they are becoming extinct
So yummy! Great service. I'd deffinetly go back!!!💚
Love the Great food at Luda's along with Tracey and Chrissy
Thank -U to all our valued patrons and and loyal friends , who keep us going strong . We appreciate all your love for Ludas and continued support we are very blessed to be a part of so many wonderful peoples lives ,and have them in ours ..... hers to another 30 years
After hearing the hype about this place from close friends and relatives, we finally gave Luda's a chance a few weeks ago - and the place did not disappoint.
The vibe was very cozy, while the staff was just as friendly and welcoming. We felt "at home" the second we walked in.
Ordered possibly the best pancakes we've had in a long, long time. I'm still dreaming about them to this day.
It is a cash only establishment, and I do wish they were open later, but finding the time (and paper) to have breakfast here is so worth it.
Over the last few months, I’ve been trying to visit different neighbourhoods in Winnipeg. When I do this I look up the restaurants in an area of town and then decide which ones I would most like to visit. When I was checking out North End restaurants, Luda’s Deli was one that got my attention. I had been there several years ago. My friend Travis Unger had worked as the wilderness camp coordinator for Inner City Youth Alive, a Evangelical Mennonite ministry. Inner City Youth Alive is located just across Salter from Luda’s. It’s also home to St. Aidan’s Christian School, which I’ve written about as part of a post on Share Our Strength.
North end staple. Food is delicious and the staff treat you like family. The only downside is there isn’t more seats, it can get busy especially around traditional meal times.
It's my first time here. I found the place on Zomato and noticed the high ratings. Its tiny and cozy atmosphere is welcoming. I was confused at first by the self serve coffee and water but liked the idea later.
I ordered a cheddar and mushroom omelette with pumpernickel toast and hash browns. The omelette was very good with the mushrooms cooked into the egg and then wrapped around the cheese. The hash browns were great as well. Coffee was passable but not great.
The service was very friendly and the atmosphere of home town was infectious. One guy who sat next to me came with window washing supplies and washed the windows for a plate of fries and gravy. Now that's down home!
I'll definitely be back to try the burgers and other sandwiches.
Best place in town hands down.Been here lots and never fails to impress.Staff are incredibly kind.Food is just like home cooking but better.Prices are very low and portions are huge. This time I had a clubhouse sandwich.Best club on this side of the Rio Grande is what another patron said to me and he was not kidding. So tasty and juicy.Cant wait to come back. Totally worth driving across town for.
Luda's has to be the best breakfast place in YWG. The fried potatos are terrific and the eggs are always perfectly done. Order the sausages, they are from Smith's and to die for.
Awesome lunch. Excellent service, home cooked sandwiches. I had a triple decker clubhouse friggin amazing. I heard about this place for years it was the first time there the place was packed luckily I phoned in an order. Must visit again
What a great place! I've been dying to go here after seeing the high score from others. It's a cozy family place, very affordable and the food was tasty. FYI it's cash only.
Love this place! The warm greeting, the great comfort food and service. I've never been disappointed at Luda's! It's a regular breakfast spot.
Wow! We've been meaning to go here for awhile, but we could never get there before it closed. They close at 1:30pm. That's probably the only downside I can find with this gem.
The atmosphere is cozy. It's just a tiny house converted into a restaurant. You can see the kitchen from the dining area. Service is extremely friendly and fast! Fill your own coffee (which my husband likes)... And the prices of the food is phenomenal.
I ordered the mushroom bacon swiss burger with fries, and my husband had the hungryman breakfast.
BEST FRIES EVER!! they're crispy shoestring, which I just love. The burger was covered in delicious fried onions, fresh meat, a yummy onion kaiser bun, fresh lettuce, thick bacon..
The breakfast was done perfectly. Thick toast. Perfectly cooked eggs. Your choice of meat.. Best hash Browns he says he's ever had.
I cannot wait to come back and try other things on the menu!
I've lived in the north end of the city all my life, even attended a nearby high school and today was my first visit at this establishment. Food was amazing! Service was friendly and suprisingly quick considering how busy they were. Loved the waitress. You can tell she truly loves what she does with that smile and the way she greets her returning and new customers. If you haven't been its cash only, fyi. Will definitely return. My partner says "best rueben he's ever had".
The best !!! Great menu. Best homemade meals ever. Always busy so hope you beat the line ups. You will not be disappointed !!! Newly renovated. Definitely a family atmosphere.
I won't give 5 stars to any place easily, but Luda's deserves it! We came here on a saturday for lunch and were greeted like family upon entering. This is clearly a place with many, many regular, and for good reason. The service is awesome, and the staff is very friendly. You have to get your own coffee, which doesnt bother me. They also have cold filtered water (big plus) which you can get yourself as well. My wife ordered the bacon cheeseburger and poutine (half portion of fries). The burger patty was homemade, seasoned nicely and very juicy. They were very generous with the thick sliced bacon, and it tasted amazing, must be from a local butcher. The burger itself was fantastic! The poutine had nice crispy home cut fries, a very flavourful gravy, and shredded cheddar (never seen that before). It too was also very good! I ordered the Kristi's Special sandwich with a half portion of fries. As you can see, a half portion is plenty for 1 person! The sandwich was huge! So huge it comes with a steak knife. It was stacked with loads of beautiful sliced turkey, amazing bacon, fresh tomato and lettuce, etc. It was enclosed by toasted pumpernickle bread. Wow, was that good! Also love the fries here! I will be returning here for sure! If you are ever in the area, you HAVE to try this place out. Highly recommended :)
Amazing! This homey family run restaurant is just what is needed! My husband swears that Luda's has the best ruben in town! I swear by the club special! Their cream of mushroom soup is to die for and I get it EVERY time. Ive tried multiple things on the menu and have never been disappointed.
An absolute gem in the North End! Food is consistently delicious be it breakfast or lunch. A must for any foodie with taste for comfort food made with love. Enough said!
So much good food!. We decided to try out Luda's on a whim. I've passed by the place many times and then heard great things about it. We noticed the food is consistently good and the service is no frills friendly. We tried the cheeseburger, perogies & kielbasa, borscht, and salisbury steak. The shoe string fries were slathered with delicious gravy and the perogies will chock full of cheesy potato. It seems like all dishes come with a slice of Gunn's bakery rye bread. The borscht was very flavorful with thick cut beets. And the cheeseburger patty was at least an inch thick. Water & coffee/tea are self serve. I seriously love this place and this is definitely a north end gem.
THE NORTH ENDS HOT SPOT....!!!!. I didn't want to title this with some cliche like a "hidden gem" or a "diamond in the ruff" partially because i live in the north end and am glad that luda's has never left the north side.
I started going to Luda's Deli in November and have been there almost every Saturday since. Its my families go to place for breakfast or lunch. The food is GREAT... all it really doesn't matter what you have, from breakfast to sandwiches it will make you come back for more... my all time favourite is the breakfast. its a good sized breakfast with eggs toast your choice of meat (i believe there is kubasa, ham, sausage, sausage links etc) and the best hash browns I've had anywhere...
come early as they do get pretty busy...!!!
Great family owned place. You walk in and the owners, a mother and daughter welcomes you. The place is small but it's got that warm cozy homey feeling. Almost everyone knows each other, the owners knew most of them by name. We had the Luda's breakfast special, the portions were huge for a really affordable price. We currently live close by so we'd be definitely coming back to try the other items on the menu.
FANTASTIC. Awesum food
Awesum service
Lots of smiles for everyone
Who could ask for more.
Update Sept 27/15
Dropped in yesterday. Resto looks great with reno completed. Food is every bit as tasty if not even better ... if that's possible.
Friendly service and delicious food. Well worth a try, especially if you love sandwiches and perogies!
Love it!. We came here last Saturday for breakfast, after trying two other times to get in. The first time it was closed, the second time it was closing! So we decided to come earlier and hopefully get in. This is a little hole-in-the-wall place, and we got the last table (where one chair was wedged behind a triangle wall). I ordered poached eggs which comes with delicious kulbasa and home fried potatoes. My dining partner had eggs over-easy. The beverages are self-serve, which works. Other diners are quick to take the pot around the room when they get up for a coffee refill! This is a very busy little place! The food was excellent and we will definitely come back for lunch to try their recommended Rueben sandwich, or Clubhouse. Everything on the menu looked very delicious, so I can't wait to come again.
Big reputation, little delivery. Tried Luda's today with very high expectations because of the great reviews on here, other sites and word of mouth. Always heard great things about Luda's so I thought i'd give it a go.
ordered up a few cheeseburgers and some fries and gravy.
the burgers looked like they were seared on the flat top and finished in a steamer, but had some good flavour. the fries!, wow!, what can i say, i'm a big fry enthusiast and love a nice plate of fries and gravy and was definitely looking forward to this because of the great reviews, and word of mouth references. I was severely disappointed. the fries were soggy, the gravy was bland and almost tasteless, and the worst of all was that all i can taste was the old oil from the fryers in the fries. if i were to give them a rating out of 5, they'd get a -1 from me. Like i said, i love fries and gravy and have that almost everywhere i go and am a professional cook by trade so i know about food.
we will not be returning nor recommending this place to others.
I'll stick to Sonja's where everything they make is great and better priced.
Delicious, excellent portions and a nice staff.
Made with Love. I don't know why I've never been to Luda's before today.
Mother and daughter (both good looking ladies btw) are excellent hosts and took the time to chat. I felt like my lunch was made with love and I was part of the family.
I enjoyed the rueben so much I had to buy one to go and drop it off at my pops office. My buddy had the borscht and corned beef sand. He loved them both.
Parking can be a bear and apparently the wait can be too. This deli is likely to become a Winnipeg Institution if it already isn't.
LOVE THIS PLACE. Food the service everything is great!! I will for sure be going back. I had the Terry sandwich and it was fantastic.
Breakfast + Lunch. This mother/daughter run restaurant has got to be my favorite place to eat in the city. Great homelike atmosphere with THE BEST lunches for the price!! The breakfasts are excellent as well.
By far the best Reubens in Winnipeg!! I would also recommend the Robert sandwich and the Kristi's sandwich.
The soups are fantastic.Try the hamburger soup and potato soup and if you really love borscht (beet soup) this is the place!!
Great atmosphere, very reasonable prices and the place to go if you love home cooked food!!!
Fantastic. I rarely get the opportunity to hit Ludas', but take every opportunity I get. The food is wonderful and the mother/daughter team running it are lovely. And yes...go there a few times and they will remember you. I went earlier this week for the first time in a long time and was greeted with "where ya been?"
Mmmmmmmmm....Luuuuudaaaaasss.....drooooooooool
Good good,friendly,staff ,and I'm presuming owner,lovely person,felt comfortable,fair price,will return. Well done,lady.
The only better rueben i have had was at the carnegie deli in new york. Geat homecooking all the way around.
Lovely North End Home-cooking !. My Dad and I came here for lunch on a Monday afternoon and luckily there were no line ups this day ! We were promptly seated and our orders taken by our warm and friendly server. We both opted for cheeseburgers and fries !
Since I rarely order a burger this was a real treat for me and I was not disappointed. Burgers were moist and obviously homemade served in a soft bun that was not your typical packaged variety.
The fries were also amazing and I really enjoyed the gravy I had on mine.
Would definitely go back again for another burger !!
Please note though they only accept cash as payment.
Full Menu. Come with an empty stomach...!!!
They spare no expense. I have been a customer of luda's for a min of 10 years and i can tell you they use only the best ingredients and the prices are north end style, there breakfast is second to none and there borscht is home made twice a week. For the best bang you have to try the rueben sandwich. mmmmmmmmmmm

Great food + view. True diner food with a great sals steak, awesome borscht and the best rueben ive had in a long time. Beauty pair here as well.
Great homemade food. Well worth it and the price is more than right.
Try it. They have good burgers and home made fries. It is always busy and closes early. I like their breakfast as well. Lots of regulars. Everything tastes home made.
I think that they get their borcht from the Mom's Perogy palace. I saw our waitress there picking it up. It is good though! I don't think it is open at supper time.
Worth a trip !!. Get hear early cause I think it closes right at 2 !! Such a great place, very good comfort food, had a delicious Reuben sandwich and fries.
Great food. Superb breakfasts and huge lunches.. nice owner..
...it's the type of place where they really seem to get to know you; heck, even name menu items after you - whoever Wally is he must eat a TON of fries - I only had a half order for $1.75 so I don't dare think of what $4.95 would get!
When you go, have the Deli Burger! You'll be treated to a good selection of condiments including mayonnaise and tomato that add moisture and work really well with the patty and bacon flavour.
It's a very cute cozy little place in the North end. Clean and tidy. Seating can be a little crowded. Fast and friendly service. Food was delicious.
Had the Reuben and french fries.
Generous meat on the reuben and it was piping hot. Enough fries in one serving for two people. And the fries were hot and fresh and delicious.

What a fun, enjoyable experience going to Luda’s deli in the north end. The food was very welcoming and the breakfast was hearty and filling. It was also fun to make new friends.
Great restaurant with friendly staff make you feel like your home.
Would definitely recommend for the soups if winter.
The Ultimate North End Breakfast! Perfect kielbasa - not fatty “garlic sausage”. Great potato hash and wonderful staff for the past 30 years that I know of! 3rd generation working there now. I hear the Ruben’s are great. Never had one…plan to try one some day, but breakfast is sooo good.
Went here for the first time today. What a hidden gem. Great portions. Terrys sandwich was delicious. Half portion of fries
was more then enough.
I haven't ordered yet and it's already my new favorite place. This atmosphere is infectious, it's packed wall to wall everyone is smiling and happy. I feel like I'm having breakfast at my nanas with everyone. My heart is happy. I would have never found this place on my own.
Update: for $6 I just had the BEST breakfast I think I've ever had. The waitress was an absolute sweetheart who knew most everyone by name and has the warmest smile. ILL 100% BE A NEW REGULAR. I can't even begin to explaine what a diamond in the rough this place is. It's so tiny, everyone sits shoulder to shoulder. But it's such a warm family feeling you feel like you're getting a big warm hug the second you sit down. It's self serve coffee tea and water so every so often someone will come by from a neighbouring table and offer to top you up. There's signed photos from a cpl celebs like GarthBrooks, family photos, and a small muted TV playing Corner Gas (that's what was on when I left the house to go there ahshah). When I say I'd never have found it myself is because it's in a spot I normally avoid, but I know it's where my mom grew up cuz back then it was beautiful. I am so happy so have found this little gem, I hope to become one of their "known by name" customers, and I hope they are open for generations
Make sure to tip well, this staff is a one of a kind ♡
So yummy and mad cheap for such a good portion. Hidden Gem for sure in northend Winnipeg 😁
Excellent food, generous portions and friendly staff. You will not leave hungry.
