Review Baraka Pita Bakery - Winnipeg

Marc Gagnon
Mmmm! This place was recommended and it didn’t disappoint! If you arrive during lunch, plan to wait in line (it’s a good sign) and know what you want to order! I opted for the chicken shawarma, with extra garlic sauce. It was awesome! The pita wrap was fresh and incredibly tasty.

Their pita pockets are big (see photo for reference), at a good price, and most importantly, delicious. I tried every filling of their fatire and they are all great, soft and pillowy too. Their baklavas are the best I have had. Everytime I am in the neighborhood I stop by to pick up something. Friendly service too.

I LOVE BARAKA!! I got the chicken platter and the beef platter and it was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!! The portion was huge! I had so much left overs, but that’s not even the best part! You can really feel the family essence of the restaurant. Made me feel really warm inside. It is obvious that the workers care about each other and the family heritage :) Will definitely come back to taste more menu items 😋😋

I could not end our fantastic evening without giving thanks to Baraka Pita Bakery. We were throwing our first school community BBQ in 3 years, every year we offer a vegetarian option. This year we wanted to try something new...so we decided to offer falafel. We were not disappointed! They ended up making a very large order for us within 24 hours of the request, the falafels were so big and flavourful. Everyone asked where we had gotten them from(prior to serving) as soon as I said Baraka's, so many people smiled and offered up their favorite dish suggestions. The customer service was awesome, and they were so kind. I will definetly bring my family in, and they will be our go to for our large events. Thank you again for your kindness. Lord Nelson School wishes you continued success.

Fantastic Shawarma and Bakery!!!!! I been going here for over 8 years now and truly the best Mideastern restaurant in Winnipeg absolutely fresh. thankful Baraka exists !!! my favorites in the city I don't live close but its always worth the drive. Sincerely.
Fil Szy
Definitely my favourite place to get chicken Shawarma wraps. The delicious flavour comes from a perfect combination of everything inside the wrap, as well as the quality of it all. Can get busy during peak hours, but it's never too bad

Been coming for close to 10 years!!! Baraka NEVER disappoints. Sure, the prices have gone up over the years; but it’s still amazing food, and the price is worth it every single time. The Beef Donair with extra garlic and extra hot sauce has been my favourite thing to order, but you can’t go wrong with anything on their menu.

Bought takeout for six of us. Great Lebanese food! I had a chicken shawarma wrap, wow was it loaded with flavour and lots of chicken! Excellent! Friendly, busy staff were a pleasure to do business, with and it was my first visit!

not good for pricing but looks good as the food many thing to choose from next time i recommend to add prices on there items

Tasted good, but not amazing, definitely over priced for what you get!
Not too many people want to spend $15 and over for lunch.
Maybe thats why there is no price anywhere, make you ask what is what and then rush you to order!
Won't be going back!

I have been coming to this restaurant since it first opened, about 15 years ago, and I've loved it the same then and now. The food is all house made including the pitas, which you won't find anywhere else in Winnipeg. The chicken and beef are always hot on the spit and the falafel is one of my favorites. Something I've recently started eating there that isn't on the menu is a loaded pita pie, next time you're there give it a try. They also have a few excellent options for vegans as well.

The staff are very friendly, although usually really busy, and the place is very inviting. The prices are very competitive, especially considering the quality.

I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to try some authentic Lebanese shawarma or other middle Eastern style cuisine. Good eats!
Paula
Nothing beats their chicken shawarma. The sauce is the best! Worth the drive down Main and they make their own pitas. Busy place! Crazy not to drive there.
Katrina Anne Galang
Delicious food, I love their garlic sauce! Awesome flavor! Busy place but fast to serve food. Lots of customers come and go like for every minute. Friendly staff is a plus (gave my niece free baklava) We will definitely go back!

This place is a go-to. Consistently amazing, everything on the menu is top notch. Great people in this family owned business. Make their own pitas, sauces and more in house. If you haven't tried it, not sure what you're waiting for, if you have, smart!

I've been dying to try this place forever as the reviews are so impressive and I can't believe I waited so long. I had a very difficult time trying to decide what to have and I ended up with the chicken shwarma platter. It was outstanding and delicious and huge! It was a two meal portion for me. The line moves really fast and the staff are super friendly. I can't wait to go back and try more menu items!
Drek
One of my go to spots. Big portions, fair price and delicious. I can never decide between their platters or pitas. Their tabbouleh is fresh and flavorful. The real game changer for me is the garlic sauce and hot sauce, I get extra, can never have enough. Great for takeout.
Ghoulie_12
No matter where I am I will always come back here. Quality food. Decent prices (seriously Reasonable for the portions you get which are large ). Genuine people. It’s worth the trip, no matter where you are in the city. The food is amazing.... I can’t express it enough.... amazing!
Allyliusz
This food is always excellent but you can’t always get a table to sit (lunch). Worth it to eat from the car though. Sauces on point ! Excellent
Phil
I had not been here in a while but was excited to share it with my daughter. Unfortunately, the Shawarma chicken was dry and the sauce just ok. The Donair was better but not as good as I remember. I hope I just got an off day. This was a 4+ star place before.
Christine Heuring
Amazing chicken shawarma! Both their garlic and spicy sauces are super addictive. Also the rice is fantastic! I can’t think of anything I’ve ever NOT enjoyed at this place. Definitely a must try!

I have been coming here 15 years, and for 10 of them this was the best place in the city to grab a meal. Something changed 5 years ago. The newer staff of recent years are inconsistent both with attitudes and portions. The platter is almost 16 dollars now, and used to be hard to get through in 1 sitting. Not any more. I miss the old staff and don't come here often any more, as there are better places in the city to spend the money. This 4.9 rating is out dated.
Andrea
Nice place on Main. Went here for a shawarma and it was pretty good! Fast service and a nice atmosphere as well. The shawarma was a bit drier than I'd like, I should've asked for extra of that garlic sauce everyone raves about!
Dylan Kozyra
I find their Donair's fantastic. I've had the chicken, lamb and beef donairs both separately and as platters. The service is prompt, friendly and professional. I see others have mentioned the lack of prices on their menu overhead, but if you have any questions I've never had any issue with someone answering my questions. Portions are quite large for what you pay( compared to other shawarma places I've been to like Shawarma Time, etc). If you've never been or never tried Shawarma I'd highly recommend checking this place out.

One of the best places to eat on the North Side of the city. The service is reliable, the staff is friendly and food is delicious. Get the lamb 😉

I cannot say enough good things about Baraka Bakery on main st in Winnipeg !! The food is outstanding, the owners and employees are absolutely fabulous!!! The tasty food keeps me coming back and and when I get there, I feel extra special happiness watching the respect and trust given to the customers. I recommend Baraka Bakery to everyone I know as they will feel the same when they are there!!!
R.Tan
Bought falafel and shawarma but was so dissapointed with their bread coz it was like rubber and the oil was dripping in my falafel sandwich :(
The-amateur-eater
Unbelievable food. Super friendly staff. I always enjoy looking through some of the middle eastern treats and goodies they have along the walls!
Arizona89
Service is fast and the atmosphere is good but the beef donair pita was one of the worse ones I have had. It was soggy and the meat was flavourless. I will probably go back and try a platter though
Shaunthefoodie
Not as good as I remember. Seems like there's less meat in their shwarmas. And I noticed shredded lettuce is now an addition, in abundance. I'm disappointed.
T.Ly
We went to Baraka with friends who were very impressed with the food. We had the beef donair, chicken shawarma, chicken platter, falafels, and desserts. The food was really filling, decent value, and really tasty when it’s smothered in their garlic sauce. The service was fast and efficient, but I have a few issues: lack of prices on their overhead menu, a friend asked for a platter without cheese that ended up having cheese on it, and the dine-in option still uses foam take-out containers that aren’t environmentally friendly. Other than that, I can see why this place is popular and was pretty busy. The restaurant is very much a no frills diner, but there was lots of space to sit and eat or to stand and wait for your food.
Spectacledeater
I stumbled across Baraka in the search for the best Donaire in town. Now the Donaires here are delicious, but they do lack the sweet sauce that East coast Donaires have. This is not a criticism but rather an observation.

What you will find at this establishment are friendly staff, loyal regulars, and an exceptionally hot environment to enjoy your exceptionally delicious middle Eastern food. Now this is only an issue if you're eating there and it's the middle of summer. Besides, their delicious food more than makes up for it.

October 11, 2017

I've been supporting this place for over 10 years but what I saw today in regards to staff behavior towards a disabled patron has turned me off to this place for life. Unbelievable.

Three gentlemen in the front, 2 men with hats, one with glasses and the other shorter with a dark beard and the third gentlemen who has lighter skin and a beard... Were mocking and ridiculing and using degrading words towards the disabled man in their own language..not thinking others can understand what they are saying, not to mention their laughing and rude staring towards him.

I will be reporting this establishment to any disability rights authority i can find.

Retrain your rude, disrespectful employees..

Speechless.
Sabrina Czyszczon
went in during a lunch rush and was still served quickly and accordingly. i asked for the vegan option for the falafel platter and they totally understood what to do. the food really is as good as everyone hypes it up to be. also make sure to come on an empty stomach, the portions are huge!! 😭😭
Turk
Fast, delicious food for a good price. Pretty sure they put tahini in the wraps which makes the food very deliciously creamy. If you can handle your spice, i would extremely recommend getting the spicy versions because that sauce is extremely delish.

I also like that you can buy some regional stuff in the store like halva, ayran, and various snacks.

This place used to be my top favorite spot in the city until I got sick from the grease in the food . I took some home and they have me paper bag which I placed on the seat in my car by the time I got home.there was grease all over the seat !
When I ate my pocket ..there was tons of oil ...i don't think I will order the pocket again
Jade3171
Hands down my favourite shawarma place in the city !! I was here again for lunch today ! I eat here about once a week and have never had a bad experience or left disappointed . The food is soooo sooo good ! Chicken shawarma used to be my go to but now I've switched it to beef donair - absolutely delicious !! That garlic sauce is to die for, I could bathe in it !! I've heard a whisper that they may open a second location in the south end of the city, I really hope so because it would be a dream come true ! Staff are always super friendly !!

I had been meaning to try this place after being told many times that it was awesome. My only regret is that I didn't listen sooner. I ordered a chicken shawarma with hot sauce. The service was very fast (ready by the time I finished paying), and the staff were friendly. The shawarma itself was fantastic! The chicken came in very generous amounts and the pieces were a very good size and were tender. The garlic sauce was very flavourful and the addition of hot sauce (optional) was a nice balance. There wasn't too much lettuce, just the right amount. The only thing I'd note is make sure you grab some napkins (readily available by the cash register). I was getting pretty full by the time I got to the bottom of the shawarma and it had become a little mushy and fell apart from the sauce. I'm of the belief that a messy meal is the best meal and this one did not disappoint! I will definitely be making the drive back!

I make several visits to Baraka a month. I only ever order a Zatar sometimes loaded and sometimes not (the Zatar not me) loaded is with garlic sauce and veggies.

If you have not had a Zatar it is fresh pita baked with olive oil and Zatar spice blend on top. Drizzle it with lemon juice and hot sauce then eat while warm. This is a fantastic thing to eat, your life will never be the same once Zatar is a part of it. As my friend says "this is breakfast street food in Lebanon", that's great but I can't pigeon hole Zatar to any particular time of day. I will eat it sun up to well past sun down!

Owned by a super nice family Baraka is the best Lebanese food in Winnipeg. But, as my mother in law says, "it's nothing fancy", just as it should be. Go there right now and eat, you can thank me later.

If you haven't tried Baraka food YOU NEED TO TRY IT!! It's like an explosion of flavour. Love it ! The portion sizes are awesome and the food is too! The service is fast and great!
Diana
Best pita in Manitoba. This restaurant is a MUST try for everyone. Have something while your there (all fantastic) and take some fresh pitas and hummus home. OMG!
GVP
The best in the city !!!! I love their chicken platter extra hot sauce extra garlic sauce !! The service is fast even if it's busy the longest I have waited is like 5-10 minutes for food:) that's the best part
The Heavy Hitters
This place blew us away! We ordered the falafel platter, "fully loaded" Spinach pita pie, and a soup. The soup is a lentil soup with wonderful consistency and spiced to perfection. The falafels were fresh and delicious, they seemed to be baked not deep fried so were a bit softer without being too soft and just moist enough. The pita was fresh baked, soft and perfect to soak up all the delicious accompanying sauces. The highlight was actually the spinach pita pie. We ordered it loaded which meant it had some salads pickled veggies and sauces on it which made it a flavour explosion. Highly recommend. Dessert pastry was a perfect finish to an awesome meal. We will be back to try more menu items. Believe the hype.

I really enjoy Shawarma. I’ve tried several places in town. Both Falafel Queen and Best Meal on the food truck scene. As well Shawarma Khan, Sultan’s Shawarma, and Flatland Wrap. All this time, whenever the topic of Shawarma comes up, people always ask me if I have been to Baraka Pita on Main Street.
Anas M J Altawil
Delicious traditional food! Had the chicken shawarma and the cheese pie here and both were delicious. The Arabic pies they make are fantastic and fresh out of the oven which makes it so good. I'm drooling just talking about it now...
Michelle Reader
Huge portions and friendly service. The pitas are the best in the city. Food is always hot and satisfying. Chicken and lamb are both fantastic. Nice assortment of olives and sauces etc for purchase.
YelK
Friendly staff, INCREDIBLE food, and SO reasonably priced. I was eating there twice a day for awhile. You'll be a regular after one visit. LOVE IT!!!
Omnomnivore
One of my favourite places. No frills, just a family run place with food done really well.

Their garlic sauce is so creamy and delicious. If I could I would buy a bottle, or jar, or vat of it. They also house make their pickles and they are perfect; crunchy and not as acidic as a store bought one. They go so well in the pitas. The vertical rotisserie they cook all their meats on keeps them juicy, with a slight crunch at the edges.

I have tried almost everything on the menu, and you can't miss.
Loaded beef pita pie - My personal favourite. It's basically like the beef donair but with a crispy texture on the pita. And the vegetarians out there have their choice of cheese, za'atar, or spinach pita pies.
Donair - However if you want more meat, donair is the way to go. Comes packed with a generous portion of beef, pickles, lettuce, tomato, and garlic sauce (hot sauce on request). Chicken shwarma is also good if beef isn't for you. My vegetarian friends love their falafel as well.
Pita pockets - Guaranteed after eating Baraka for dinner, you want it the next day too. These are the perfect item for a next day meal since they don't have lettuce or tomato. Essentially it's a pocket of chicken, spinach and garlic sauce. Add their hot sauce and it's the perfect lunch for work. I found this one is a hit for kids.
Platters - If variety is what you're after, go for a platter. Your protein of choice (including falafel) with garlic sauce, rice, salad, tabbouleh and a pita.
Desserts - I have only sampled their baklava. It is delicious. A tad sweet, but that is just a characteristic of the dish in general. The family sometimes give it to us for free if we've ordered a large amount...which is always.

Honestly I haven't met anyone who doesn't love it, and that is a rare feat. If I was nit picking, my only negative comment would be that they have no AC. And with those hot ovens and spits, it can get VERY hot in there. But that is less a problem for me and more of a sympathetic observation for the workers. Regardless they are always kind and helpful. A must try!!!

Delicious and can't wait to go back. I've always driven by this place and had it on my personal list of places to try. The only thing I regret is not going sooner. The pita pocket it's so very flavourful. They put it through a flame oven where all the flavours melt into the meat (I got chicken). The lamb kabob has the perfect amount of creaminess, the hummus is really present in every bite and the meat is delicious! The lamb here doesn't taste as gamey as other places which is nice. You get fair portions and everything tastes fresh. Highly reccomend trying this place of you've never been! Can't wait to go back and try more things!
Rosa
Yummy!!!! Ate from here for the first time and can't wait to go back. I had the chicken pita pocket. Perfection! The chicken wasn't dry or fatty. If you love garlic, then this is the thing to eat. My husband had the falafel pita and love it too. Good prices and great service.
YummyInMaTummy
I've tried shawarma from other areas in the city and they don't compare to the tastes I witnessed after eating at Baraka. I tried to Chicken Shawarma platter which was a generous portion, the garlic sauce and the hummus complimented the entire meal and an added freshness from the salad. I would definitely return just for this.

I also ordered a donaire. Unlike other donaires this one does not utilize a sweet sauce and instead was adorned with their yummy garlic sauce, the meat was tender and again a generous portion.

To top it off I had a pistachio honey cake, not bad. There was a lot to choose from, and experiment with but that awaits my next visit and yes, I will most certainly return.

First off trying to find a space to park is a pain as its on a busy street. With the 4.9 rating i was expecting the food would be pretty good. The food was just ok. The doner was just a ball of mush, vegetables and sauce. The little meat they give you didnt have very much flavor, Ive had alot better and i dont think this place deserves a 4.9, 3 is generous.

Edit: after my second review was removed it's clear that this rating for this business is fixed and is not a reflection of the quality of food. Never going there again

Ruralife
I've never been so disappointed in a restaurant before. Authentic middle eastern food, how is this possible when the food was consistently flavourless? I had the chicken platter, and was really looking forward to it based on the reviews. The chicken was very dry, rice had no flavour at all, the garlic sauce people rave about didn't taste like garlic, or anything else. The hot sauce that some posters say is very hot, isn't but I mixed it in with the rice to make it palatable. The pita was very dry and hard to tear. The only reason I have rated this place as high as I have is because of the speed of service and the volume of food. If you are hungry this fill fill you. If you want protein, there was lots of chicken. Thorough our meal we were discussing how is it possible for this place to be rated so highly. It has to be the volume. I won't be going back.
Dawn
This has been a family go to place for years. Lovely family & great Lebanese cuisine! Try their falafels, pizza pies and chicken shawarma...yumm!

Came here for lunch with co-workers. The restaurant is counter service, and they will call you up to pick up your food when it's ready.

I ordered a lamb platter, and we received our food relatively quickly. It's all disposable plates and plastic cutlery here, so it's not exactly fine dining. Once you get the food though, you'll be impressed! Not only is it delicious, but it is exceptional value as well.

Lamb platter came with hummus, garlic sauce, rice, salad, tabouleh, and a pita. This is a huge variety on the plate and it was all very tasty and fresh. If you like shawarma, this place is great!
Renata Hryndzio
I always get the chicken shawarma, it's amazing! The restaurant is small and has an authentic feel to it.

Also, the cashier person was kind and very friendly. When I was paying, i was going through my change to find the right amount to cover the rest of my tab, and he just said don't worry about it. A homey, feel good place
BonVivant
So hard to find a good schwarma place, but thank gosh for Baraka! I got the beef platter (large and filling and inexpensive) and the beef was cut thickly into pieces and soooo flavorful and delicious!! The pita was warm and fresh and soft -- couldn't have been better. The hot sauce and garlic sauce are both addictive. (Ask for extra garlic sauce.) The hummus was smooth and perfectly seasoned. The salad was chunky and fresh. The rice was very fluffy and flavorful. The platter also comes with tabouli which I was really excited about because it's my favourite! Loved that they provided chili sauce and a bottle of lime juice by the cutlery to use at our desire. The platter doesn't come with pickles (so I asked for some) and I was a little sad that they don't have pickled turnips, but I won't hold that against them. Overall, awesome food. Worth the drive. The kind of thing you will crave in the future after having it.
Ron Sarmiento
Best shawarma in the city. Hot sauce is smooth and nice. Garlic sauce is awesome. Home cooked food. Family that owns it is so nice and professional. Donair meat is crispy yet fresh. Try the pita pocket
Tim Enns
This place has become my new favourite in Winnipeg. The Donairs are authentic Middle Eastern unlike what most places serve. Everything is made with passion and tradition. This is the place I take friends when I want to impress! You can tell a great
Place when Winnipeg's finest park their cruisers outside and you see them enjoying great food!
Pam Ellen O'Donnell
If you are looking for a Donair this is NOT the place to go. I do not know why they think what they advertise is a doniar but it is not. the pita pocket however was good.
Hungry Hungry Hippo
I'm a huge fan of Middle Eastern food but for some reason, it's always been a miss every time I've gone. I've given it a few chances already considering the ratings are so positive, but I probably won't be returning.
Belloty Kabamba-Braun
Not my kind of food, but everyone is very friendly there! Definitely understand why its my husbands favourite. Will definitely give everything on the menu a try!

Half chicken half beef wrap with hot sauce. This place never disappoints. The cheese pita pies are also really really good 👍🏻👌🏻

Best in the city

If you want fabulous, authentic Middle Eastern food, served with a genuine smile, this is the place to go!

Situated on the east side of Main Street, not far from Kildonan Park, the unpretentious Baraka Pita Bakery is a treasure.

We lunched on the beef, and the falafel platters. They were huge! They came covered with pizza-sized pita bread. The falafels were amazing! From the main, to the sides and the sauces, everything was flawlessly delicious, and there was plenty left over for dinner. (One word of warning: The hot sauce lives up to its name.)

The wait time was relatively short, considering that there was a steady stream of guests. Clearly it is a popular spot; something that is well-deserved.

I look forward to introducing others to this great Middle Eastern delight.
LovesToEat
ALWAYS good. The chicken shawarma 👌👌👌 the best! And their garlic sauce-- i could eat that on everything. I can never rave about this enough when someone asks where to get a good shawarma.
KirstiePerry
Huuuuge Shawarma! I got the beef one, it was really tender and tasty. The slices are in big portions, I had a hard time eating it because of the size. Anyhow, the garlic sauce was really good and the waiting time was fast. Friendly staff and a good place for shawarma!
KARA Xtine
Always consistent! So delicious! We drive all the way from the south end just to come here. Highly recommended. The food is so flavourful and exotic!
Iheartpulses
Service was really good. The Greek salad and hummus that came on my plate were really tasty. But the pita bread had a weird burnt aftertaste to it. Falafel was well cooked, crispy outside, soft and warm inside but the flavour didn't wow me. My dinner companion liked his chicken and his pita (maybe mine was just a bit overdone?) which is a big deal because he is a picky eater. I feel like the shwarma here is what gives it such high reviews because the falafel just didn't do it for me. I feel like the falafel at shwarma time is still tops.
Terry White
Tried the chicken pita pocket and donairs. Both were very good for a small fast food joint. The place is small and nothing much but makes great food forsure.
204_foodie
This place is the bomb dot com. I get myself craving for beef donairs. In my opinion, Baraka is the best place for donairs in the city! The garlic sauce with extra hot sauce just makes it so much better. One of my weekend go-tos.
Melody
I had never tried Shawarma before, but a friend recommended this place to try. The Chicken Shawarma is absolutely delicious. I've since been recommending this place to tons of friends to try out!
Sally
So happy to have this place in the north end. My favourite shawrama in the city! I've tried most items on the menu and everything has been delicious. Highly recommend!
Sig Del Rosario
Best place for a pita if you're in the North End of the city. The platters are also great. I usually go with the lamb platter, but the falafel platter is just as terrific. Excellent pita bread, the hummus is awesome, and the tahini is great.

My week isn't complete until I visit this place.
Chelsey
My husband and I go here often and they never disappoint. Awesome vegetarian options! The folks that work here are so friendly and always willing to accommodate any requests. Also, the garlic sauce is amazing!!
Greg T
Baraka is great meal for under $10.00. I like the Beef Donair with extra hot sauce and their garlic sauce (?). Place is always busy so expect a wait at peak times. The owners are nice and friendly too.
Sandy
I only discovered this restaurant a few months ago, and my spouse and I go ALL the time now! Their Beef Donair is our favourite and it's always very delicious! The chicken shawarma isn't bad either.

The staff is super nice and friendly. We've never had any issues. Theirs a fair sized eat in area. It did get a bit hot this summer, but it was definitely worth it.

We recommend Baraka to all our friends and family! Keep up the amazing work guys. We love it.
Renée Banville
The boyfriend and I visited Baraka on Saturday evening and I have to say we are now ruined for shwarma from this point forth! It was fantastic. Not like "yum this is good" ...I mean "if you even reach for my shwarma I'll cut you". We both had the chicken shwarma to go and they were saucy with a little bit of zip. The chicken was perfectly cooked and not dry and the pitas were soft and kept everything in nicely. Location is a bit out of the way but worth it.
Beanz
This place is definitely in my top 5 fave restaurants in Winnipeg. There are times when I crave the beef donair so badly, it's all I can think about. And their phyllo and pistachio pastries are the closest to (good) sex that food can get for me. Eyes-rolling-back-in-your-head-good. Rendered-speechless-good. Weak-in-the-knees-good. Need I go on?
ELF
I had the chicken shwarma and the lentil soup with crutons, and my friend had the lamb platter. The shwarma was soooo good... almost like a fatboy taste.... only with chicken, and in a pita. The soup tasted great... although it is mostly broth and spices (I think there was a strong caraway flavour). My friend loved the lamb and I tried a little piece--very flavourful, although a bit dry for my taste. The service was good... it's obviously a family run establishment... but as other posters mentioned previously, ordering was confusing. I saw others around me eating the pita pockets, and I think next time I'll give one of those a try! Very good!
Joeyloveslulu
Lebanese food is nutritious, appealing and delicious! They have a pita oven that cooks everything just perfectly....zatar pita is so great!! Tart spices on a pita which is sooo delicious...don't know which one I like better...the zatar or the spinach/feta pita. My taste buds are tingling...just order both! The chicken pita is delicious, how many times do I need to write delicious...yum yum!!! The Lebanese family that run this place are polite, friendly and very generous. Lovely family, glad their restaurant is so busy and successful, they are very hard workers. Often there is a line-up waiting to order, but they are very efficient and the food is fresh! Never had a complaint here, go go go!!!!
Loveforfood
This is my favorite place to eat for shawarma. I really enjoy their lamb platter, since their lamb sausages are great and I love their chilli sauce.
JMS
If I had to pick one place in Winnipeg to eat at for the rest of my life it would be Barakas. Their loaded beef pita pie is my favourite and it's hard to try other items on their menu because I love it so much. The garlic sauce is so good. Sometimes the ordering/paying process can be confusing when it's busy. It would help if they had some signage for where to order and where to stand when you're waiting for your food. Other than that it's very affordable and well worth the drive.

Always one of my favorite places to eat! At one point I was given the option to go anywhere i wanted for dinner and I'd always choose here. The service is friendly, fast and if it's slow they are great conversationalists! The food is fresh, delicious and made with love. If you're unsure of what to get, ask! They're wonderful at suggestions!

Favourite place to go for shawarma in Winnipeg, delicious food, family owned, friendly service and great prices! Have only been twice but I'll be back many more. Recommend !
Lord Igor
The BEST in the city when it comes to shwarma! The beef donair is full of flavour, The soup is delightful and the hummus is so delicious, I could eat it like pudding! One of the finest eating establishments in the city! Try everything at least once and you will not be disappointed! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

This place is delish!! Better to take it to go, as the 'eat in' atmosphere isn't great. The food is amazing though, best shawarma in town. We eat here regularly and are never disappointed. We've recommended this place to many people and they always love it.

Their food is fantastic and the price you pay is so worth it because the serving are huge. I've tried both the beef donair and the chicken shawarma and they're both delicious! If you haven't tried this place you need to asap! It's amazing!

I went there with a friend on Friday and I ordered the falafel platter, the serving size was very generous and I couldn't finish it all. The falafels were delicious and crispy on the outside, the salad had the perfect amount of dressing on it and the rice was flavourful. The hummus had to be homemade it was so smooth and creamy! For dessert we had the almond baklava and the regular one and split them in half. They were the right amount of sweetness.

Great food, Great people. Every time I visit Baraka I find I'm treated like family by whomever is behind the counter. I don't know anybody there personally but I feel like they know me when I go in.
I get my Chicken Shawarma to go typically, sometimes with hot sauce, sometimes without, but it never disappoints. It is a treasure of an establishment. Keep up the good work!

Disappointing. I made an order over the phone for take out for me and my friend. Upon our arrival I cheked in. there were additional friend that was to meet up with us thus I grabbed a table. When my food was ready I was told by the staff that I was cutting in the line and was told that I am not welcomed to stay. ( when in fact they told me that my food was ready). Then another staff repeated saying I am not allowed to stay to eat my food inside rasing his voice. In addition there were lots of open tables. In hindeside I should have cancelled my order and have my food at nearest McDonald's as I would get better service there! Not going back!

Drop in at Baraka. We were close by and I said lets walk in and check it out. Well I wish we had come for lunch. What a beautiful charming yummy smelling place!!! We picked up a package of fresh pitas, which were so soft and fresh looking (turns out these are the best pitas we have ever ever had), checked out the food being cooked and people were so happy and telling us what a great place this is to eat at. When I paid for the pitas one of the guys gave us 3 free samples of their fresh baked items they had on top. Tiny pitas filled with yummy tasting spinach, one filled with cheeses and one with meat - lamb? OMG!!! I love this place and want to go back ASAP. By the way the 6 pack of pitas we bought, well we ate 4 of them last night fresh, soft and so very yummy. THE BEST - THANKS!!!

Many good lunches here.. I've tried several of the dishes here and all have been tasty and well priced. Great food and people. I love this place and the people who work there. The pita's are the best in winnipeg I swear, and you can buy them from the mini grocery section they have there. That section also has amazing and well priced tahini. The food is fast but sooo good!!!!! Love it all!!
