Review Saucers Cafe - Winnipeg

A cozy place, lots of rooms, great staff, and delicious food. This place is perfect to spend the evening at. I ordered a soup and a wrap/ sandwich that had noodles in it and it had specific sauce that made it extra awesome. Definitely recommend it.

I’ve been driving by this place my entire life, and always wanted to try it. I wish I hadn’t waited so darn long. Amazing experience. Had their peach iced tea and raspberry iced tea, both were really good. Their chicken and Brie sandwich was delicious. I had their Thai peanut salad in the side and it what very tasty and refreshing. Finished the meal off with their peanut butter cheesecake, I think it was the best cheesecake I’ve ever had quite frankly.

My favorite restaurant in the city, the shrimp curry and Thai chicken wrap are amazing! Also the best cheesecake I've ever tasted! Such a great River Heights staple!

I love coming to Saucers. Staff are always super friendly and I've never been disappointed with the food or drinks. Always delicious. I dined in once pre-pandemic during a really busy lunch rush and remember the waitress still going above and beyond for my table. The customer service really is fantastic! A great little cafe that I definitely recommend checking out.

We tried their burger week “burger”. It was a very unique dessert burger collaboration. I wouldn’t say it was my favourite thing, but definitely a fun idea and something different to try!

This place is always SO GOOD! The renovations look awesome! Teas, coffees, and food are all very tasty. The desserts are HUGE and so good! Staff have always gone out of their way for my friends and I - they've split entrees on to two plates when we mentioned we were sharing and always make great recommendations. Great service, great food, great atmosphere.

Saucers is one of the best places to eat in Winnipeg. Very fresh food and the staff always goes out of their way to make sure everyone leaves happy and well taken care of. The dessert selection is a nice touch too, and always super delicious. I've never had a bad experience here, I'll keep coming back for the great service and (of course) wine Wednesdays!

The food here is awesome. The staff here are the best.
Crystal Raymonde
Sandwiches and salads here are delicious, and the peach iced tea is out of this world!

One of my favourite spots to lunch. Never had a bad meal. I enjoy trying their specials.

I had the Peanut Thai Wrap and Chicken tortilla soup and both were absolutely delicious.

Best Chicken Salad sandwich anywhere ... Cool little spot for lunch.
Jamie Campbell
Best pulled bison sandwich I have ever had. Love going there every time we come to Winnipeg.

Love this resturant and the food is consistantly great.

The first time I had the meatloaf sandwich I could not contain the noises I made with every bite and taste. So amazing every time I eat here. Every time we have family from out of town we make sure they experience this place just down the street from our apartment. We were so excited to find this gem soon after we moved to Winnipeg. Keep doing what you are doing.

Lovely setting, very inviting, clean. Came for lunch, gnocchi and soup and Thai wrap were good. Came for dinner, chicken sandwiches were ok, nice side salad. Pizza - how is it possible something with that much salt have no flavour? Hurt a couple of molars on the crust, far too hard. Although parking is dicey, I'd come back for coffee, the ambience makes you want to have a dessert and chat for hours.
Food was great. Dessert was good-cheesecake to be specific. I just find the place dry upon entrance when it comes to customer service. Nice clean place but parking can be a pain. Won't rush for another visit.
Montana53
chicken and brie sandwich was delicious but would enjoy it more of a panini bread or regular bread as the bun was huge and hard to eat, soup was great had the chicken tortilla and my friend had broccoli cheddar
Melody
Came here to try some of the desserts featured for Ciao's Chocolate Fest. Decided to order the Cookies and Cream for sit down (also got the Cheesecake to go). I hope they decide to add this dessert to their menu permanently as it is heavenly. If you enjoy cookie dough, then you must try the cookies and cream dessert! All the dishes that were being brought out looked really yummy. I will definitely be returning to try more food at Saucers!

Nice spot for a light lunch. Good salads, soups, and sandwiches. Friendly service. I had the roast chicken sandwich special which was very good. The Thai peanut wrap was good too. Come early for lunch, as it was full by 12:15.
The Heavy Hitters
Great sandwiches, salads and wraps. Love the turkey asparagus melt, Thai peanut wrap, roasted red pepper with pickled veggie and avocado wrap, and the chicken adobo sandwich (also topped those delicious pickled veggies). Spinach salad makes an excellent side as do most of the soups (there seems to be a rotating variety of about 4, wish there were more variety). For an extra 2 buck you can upgrade your side salad to a Thai chicken salad complete with chicken skewer - great deal and super yummy salad! It's been awhile since we ordered that as a side so don't quote us on that if they won't do it anymore. Prices are reasonable and represent portion sizes which are on the smaller side. We have not tried any of the desserts yet but they look delectable!!!!

Decent lunch place! Got the Thai chicken salad and it was decent. Took a while to come out of the kitchen and the chicken was pretty cold, so I'm a little confused to why it took so long. I've also had the past here and will say it was decent. Some good options on the menu, so you'll probably find something on there that'll make you a tad more hungry. I would go back to try more things.

Pretty good! Latte slightly overpriced as are the desserts at five dollars and seven dollars respectively. Would consider this place much more often for lunch but the prices don't match with a lunch budget for the quality/quantity of food you get imo.

I picked up a burger for Burger Week 2016 from here, and when they took my order over the phone they were very friendly, and understanding when I called back 45 minutes later to tell them I was stuck in traffic. The atmosphere inside is quaint but dated. However, when I walked in the two girls working at the time both came over to talk to me and were very friendly and made me feel right at home. I can imagine eating in would be like visiting a neighbour or such. Although the flavours didn't win out for me in my top burger picks from this year, the quality of ingredients was bang on. I will definitely go back if in the area to try some of the other food items. I always like to support restaurants who seem to appreciate every customer who walks through the door, which I definitely felt.

Quaint venue, lovely atmosphere, tasty food, decent value. The service is prompt but not always as friendly as one might hope. I feel I may have been there at an off time for them and would like to return during a more amicable hour as opposed to the mid afternoon slump. Price for entrees reflects the portion sizes.
Clarissa
Your go to for desserts and alcoholic desserts! Amazing! Very nice chill place to go in the evening/late night. The cakes can get addicting!
Ilya
I tried the pizza there. It was ok, but nothing special. The place is dirty and old. That street seems to have lots of it. Enough people. Move on to something new and exciting.

One of my favourite places to eat! Always delicious & consistent. My favs are the pulled bison sandwich & the chicken Brie and their spinach salad is really good too! Service staff are helpful and friendly. Atmosphere is warm. Their tea menu is very cool too. I've introduced many people to Saucers and they all go back. Such a gem of Winnipeg!

Great little cafe with delicious food and friendly staff. We came in one afternoon, it was fairly busy but the service was great. We were attended to quickly and the food came out in decent time.

I got the turkey bacon avocado wrap with balsamic onions, arugula and aioli paired with the soup of the day, which was a mushroom onion bisque. The creaminess of the avocado paired so well with the flavor of the balsamic onion and the salty bacon. My mom got the half roast turkey sandwich, with cranberry chutney, lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise with their house soup, cheddar broccoli. Everything was delicious.

The only negative thing about the experience was that the restaurant was EXTREMELY hot. It was a warm winter day and only about -5°, so I don't know why the heat had to be on full blast! On the bright side, no one needed salt that day because our sweat perfectly seasoned the food. Just kidding lol
I love their new salmon rice bowl with ponzu sauce and snap peas. So light and refreshing for summer! Other favourites include the turkey bacon avacado wrap and the chicken and brie sandwich. Their weekly specials never disappoint!

Pretty good.. Went for lunch here several Saturdays ago, cute place. Service was prompt. Food was pretty good, prices are a bit on the expensive side for the portion sizing.

Disappointment. Wasn't sure what to expect beforing coming here for lunch today. The menu options were disappointing in terms of food but they did have a large selection of coffees, teas, etc, which we did not try this time. For lunch I had the chicken brie sandwich which was pretty bland. The bread was so hard it cut the gums on the roof of my mouth. My bf ordered the adobo chicken sandwich. Also nothing special. It has a lot of kick but that's all, no other flavors just kick. Broccoli and cheddar soup didn't taste fresh unless it was fresh out a can. Also we found it took very long for the food to come out about 25 mins and we were the first people in there for lunch. Our waitress came andrefilled our waters saying "food should be right out, they are just melting the cheese." After we received our meals the table behind us who came in 15 mins after us also received their meals. It also took 15 mins after completing our meals before we were asked if we wanted anything else. We were interested in trying out their selection of desserts for chocolatefest but service although friendly was very slow so we opted against it. Highly unlikely that we'd dine there again.

Favourite lunch spot!. This is a favourite spot to for for lunch. The serving staff are universally pleasant, good at their job and attentive without being overbearing or annoying. They have a fantastic selection of loose leaf teas and a menu that has something for everyone, vegetarian, omnivore or carnivore. My favourite menu item is the peanut thai wrap, with their soup of the day. I have enjoyed a moroccan peanut soup with just the right amount of kick, and their cheddar broccoli soup has never disappointed me. The bakery case... well, lets leave it at this: it is so tempting! Deserts are delicious and the choice, while difficult is made easier with the guidance of your server. Very enjoyable!

This place is ridiculous (in a good way). Everytime I come here I have an amazing lunch. I usually order the salted caramel latte in the fall/winter and one of their delicious iced teas in the spring/summer. I just finished the turkey bacon wrap with tomato and chorizo soup. My boyfriend had the adobo chicken sandwich and brocoli and cheese soup. Both of our meals were fantastic but, my boyfriends lunch perfect. The adobo chicken sandwich is probably one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. I encourage anyone who is looking for friendly service, fresh ingredients and innovative menu items to try this cute little place on academy.

Love it! The food it hot and fresh, service was fantastic, we had the sweetest waitress. Bathroos clean, over all very cozy and enjoyable time :) highly recommend

I love saucers, continuously consistent in quality and deliciousness. My favorited are turkey cranberry sandwich, peanut thai wrap and pulled bison sandwich yummers!

Fantastic Salad!!!. Came here with a few of my friends and was surprised at how busy they were for a Tuesday afternoon! We all had the weekly special the Mexican Salad. And it was the most vibrant, filling, tastiest salad I have ever had. I can't wait to see what they offer next week! Keep up the good work.

Love the smoke ban on the patio!. I just saw the news story regarding smoking on patios in Winnipeg and noted that this place is smoke free on their patio. I've never been, but I'm going to give it a whirl with my out of town family that want to soak up sun, but hate the smoke. Their cities don't allow it and they are shocked to find smoking allowed here.

Kudos.

WONDERFUL!!. Been coming to Saucer's for years. Always consistent, fresh, great food, warm energy and is so underrated. I've introduced many friends & colleagues to Saucer's and they become instant repeat customers. Was there for lunch yesterday and always am impressed with the tea menu. Had the pulled bison sandwich w/spinach salad - my usual... and was just as amazing as it always is!

This is such a great gem! The food is cheap but tasty and the service is amazing! I've never been anywhere that has such consistent and friendly service.

Always great service. Drinks change nicely with the seasons. Peanut Thai wrap is always my favourite. Great night out or relaxing lunch.

Bland with little flavor but great summer dishes. Ordered the quesadilla and herb roasted chicken sandwich. Both were bland and sandwich had too much mayo. Had to ask for the chipotle mayo for both dishes. The southwest bean salad was good, fresh and tasty. They should keep those because those were the dishes that were worth paying for.
Alex
Great lunch restaurant. A pretty simple menu, but high quality and great flavor.

Consistently Great!. Took my best friend here as part of her 30th birthday day-long celebration and we were not disappointed. We didn't have dessert (although I usually do - it's spectacular!) lunch was perfect. Service was great even though it was really busy and the prices are decent as well. Will definitely return. Try the asparagus melt - to die for!

Always enjoy the selections and yesterdays lunch was no exception; had the spinach salad which was fine; although nothing exciting about it, but others at the table had the soup special and were pleased. It's the desserts which really made the hit. Had the Apple Caramel Cheesecake... yummy But really overpriced....$ 6.00 for a regularly sized piece. I like that the piece was not gigantic, but I won't being back just for dessert because of the price; just a little overpriced for my taste.

ZOMG Garlic Sauce. I haven’t has Garlic Sauce as delicious since I was in Istanbul!!!! ( and that was a keyboard mistake but I guess it was so good I'm talking like lol cats. "can I haz garlic sauce?") The chicken pesto sandwich blew me away. Pizza is above average quality and fressness but sandwiches are where the true gold lies in this little lunch cafe. Decor is bright service is prompt and they also host an awesome tea selection. What makes the tea even better is they buy it local form local business the Cornelia Bean tea and coffee shop. They also brew the tea in BREWT infusers which is a local owned product company. Yep Saucers I noticed your effort to support local business and you do it while making a superior product and experience for your customers. This is a must visit lunch spot that is sure to please any palate, and will satisfy casual and fine dinners alike. Saucers supports Winnipeg and Manitoba it shows in their business I would absolutely say give them a try if you haven’t, they deserve our support back. I’d venture to say you won’t be disappointed.

Much Love
-The Chubbydumpling

Delicious. Virtually everything on the menu is appealing, and everything I've tried makes me want to return for more. I appreciate their use of simple, high-quality ingredients. The wine menu has very good options, and the desserts are wonderful.
Melanie
High quality food made from scratch! My only criticism is that that don't have any real entrees: it's all sandwiches, though the sandwiches are fantastic!

Find Me Someone Who Doesn't Love This Place...I Dare You!. All time favorite lunch place! You have not had a sandwich until you've had The Pulled Bison, The Margarita Chicken or the Asparagus Melt. The staff enhances the experience with their professionalism and warmth. Excellent Caesar Salad!!!

Brewing some good. Saucers has managed to defy the old adage don't mess with a good thing. A refreshed interior, menu update and launch of a loose leaf tea bar has infused the space with new charm and sophistication.

Hearty house made soups satisfy alone or pair perfectly with any of their famous sandwiches. Personal favorites include the oven roast turkey with cranberry chutney and the pulled bison.

Pizza, whose toppings look good on paper, are a let down if only for the cardboard cutout, pre-fab frozen crusts.

The menu also features and handful of pastas and proteins and they typically offer occasional specials.

Dessert, all too often an afterthought, features prominently here with a sizable selection of amazing cakes, pies and tortes.

Fully licensed, you can pair your choices well enough with wines, but for the tea totallers Saucers boasts over dozens of loose leaf teas as well as coffee, cappuccino, espresso etc.

Having visited too many times to count, service has always been prompt, knowledgeable and friendly.

I love this cafe! I get the same thing everytime- Thai Peanut Wrap with Caesar Salad!!
Carimm
Not impressed.... Was not impressed at all. Slow service. No one was in the restaurant and the one server thought it was more important to dust the window ledges for 10 minutes before coming to ask us if we wanted a drink. Thai wrap - bad, hardly any dressing on it and no flavor. Salmon dill soup of the day had the consistancy of a sauce. Kids macaroni and cheese had maybe 5 tablespoons of macaroni in it. Went here because of the great reviews - my fault for having such great expectations! Won't visit again.

I love saucers. The food and staff are awesome. I try to go once a week, at least.

Great Wraps. Have been to Saucers many times. I absolutely love the Peanut Thai Wraps with a side sald. My favorite. I promised to try something else when I go there the next time but I just love those wraps. I had a pot of Cheeky Devil tea and I finished the whole pot. I never usually have more than 1 cup. Great Atmosphere and the staff are always friendly. Quite busy on Saturdays.

Autumn Arrival. Sat on the patio despite the season's chill. Good soup, herb & chicken sandwich, prices are reasonable but not great. They serve tea from a Brewt, which is neat. Nachos are second to none!

Saucers Cafe is one of my favorite little places to go. Tucked away in a strip mall on Academy makes it easy to miss. It is very cosy and welcoming, and is a nice place to relax. One of my friends calls ahead to ask if they have this one soup, and if they do– she goes!

All the ingredients are there for a superior pizza but sometimes it lacks a bit of flavour
Food Musings
I sampled the Chicken Thai Salad and loved the combination of noodles and crispy greens. Two things made it exceptional-the whole peanut topping and what we were guessing was a homemade peanut dressing.

This is a noisy, busy café filled with patrons who are wearing jeans yet still look like they have money. River Heights on the down-low, so to speak. Zolli was having a bad caffeine craving that afternoon, so it was to her immense displeasure that i
