Review Capital Grill And Bar - Winnipeg

Geoff Miki
Had their signature burger, Capital burger with home-style fries and a ice cold Little Brown Jug draft for happy hour, it was excellent! I wasn't expected much, but it was very tasty and filling. Kind of a non-descipt strip mall building on the outside, but cozy lounge/restaurant inside. Has a outdoor patio, but it's winter and it was stacked with snow.

Good location. Dedicated parking spots available for the restaurant's customers. I always feel welcome as the boys are very polite. Especially the one who receives, gentleman with the glasses. I don't know why I took longer reviewing their business. most of people are losing temper or not giving good customer service so this has to be appreciate who doesn't loose their cool and have smile and be polite.I wish them good luck in this hard phase. To people I wanna request please keep supporting businesses like this one as not only they serve good food, organise their place which makes you feel welcome even if you are just picking up but also provide good customer service

Recently had an extraordinary dinner at this fine restaurant. The service was exceptional and they went out of their way to make this experience fantastic. It was a 50th birthday for a great friend. We had such an amazing time together, the atmosphere was awesome. Loved it!

Great pickerel with veggies. The lemon tart was a perfect compliment to the meal.

Had the Rigatoni, it was simple but very good! Patio looked really nice, will have to try it out come summer when it's not covered in snow. Little pricey but nice place and friendly staff

Great food, atmosphere and staff. Very welcoming. One small suggestion for the chef, for the clams appetizer, if you can serve some bread that will be wonderful. They will go hand in hand other than the fries although individually, the fries were great :)

I absolutely love this restaurant. Had a Halibut with the Honey glazed beet purée and lemon butter sauce and it was so rich and flavourful. The Halibut was cooked to perfection. Food & Service 5 STARS!!!

Wow. After a long and hot day of 'touristing' around town, we came to Capital Grill and Bar based on the reviews: not disappointed! Service was great, and the resteraunt itself was beautiful. Loved the local art that decorated the walls. The food definitely matched the quality of the decor too! I had the pork schnitzel based on the server's recommendation and could not have been more pleased. Blew me away. My fiance had some manner of open-faced burger (can't recall the name), and was happy with that as well. I think i will stop here when I head back to Winnipeg!

I have been coming to Capitol since July of 2015. Just two months after they opened. Not once, not ever have I had a bad meal!! I have tried everything on the previous menu and almost everything on the new menu. I love the the staff, Rachel, Kate, Zach, Adam and on my birthday (July 29th) I met Julie! Greg and Chef Wayne are amazing people who know how to have great staff and create incredible food and atmosphere! I will never stop singing your praises! You deserve every award and praise for what you have created. I love you all and the food!! Oh my, not enough space to write about that too! Go and try! And be sure to tell them Diane Kathryn sent you! You will never regret going! I promise!!

We visited last night for the first time and were absolutely blown away by the service and delicious food! We were pleasantly surprised by the quaint and light atmosphere which was decorated with paintings from a local artist. The drink menu was full of great wines, cocktails and beer including local craft beer. The menu was to die for and when we received our food, it exceeded expectations. Very nice to have a place like this in Charleswood, close to home. I can't say enough good things! We had a wonderful dining experience and will definitely be returning again!

Virgin diners at this restaurant....and not sure if we would rush back. Our waiter,Zach, was inattentive, and we were the only other of 6 diners there at the time, did not push any appetizers on us,did not ask if we had eaten there before. Maybe I am being old fashioned, but in this day,one should be trying harder to get and keep all the customers that walk through the doors. The meal was average, baby back ribs a little on the dry side,Saber fish dish special, would have preferred an extra minute in the pan,but flavorful accompaniments. I did appreciate Greig, for giving us an early reservation and for calling to confirm,so therefore was looking forward to the dinner.

Fantabulous seems to sum up the whole evening! From the moment we came in the door, we were greeted by warm, caring staff! We had never been there before but our friends had. The waitress was most helpful & we were not rushed to order. We started by ordering 2 plates of the beet salads for us to share with our hubbies. My friend & I had the pickeral (on special) and it was a truly amazing dish! The fish melted in your mouth & with just the right amount of veggies and the sauce of soy butter completed the dish! My hubby had the ribs & he was very pleased! Our other friend had the Lamb Shank & was done just right! My friend & I shared the white chocolate cheese cake for dessert! A couple of espressos & our evening was complete! The owner came by out table to ask how everything was! Kudos to all for a job well done!

Amazing food and wines! The Capital has the best wait staff in the city that we have experienced. They are very knowledgeable on wine pairings and have wines you will not see in other restaurants. The mussels were out of this world, done to perfection with a lemon dill seasoning on the fresh cut fries.I will be having these again soon,a great lunch.I had a short rib dinner recently, that melted in your mouth and the pastas are very good! We are very fortunate to have this restaurant in Charleswood, which has been lacking in great dining and the dining experience.

Capital has a lovely vibe, beautiful interior with stunning prairie paintings, friendly staff, and delicious food. We ate there with our kids and parents and everyone easily found something to order. The menu is creative and the food is quality. I have been waiting a long time for a new favourite restaurant in Charleswood and Capital Grill and Bar could be it! Your new patio looks stunning by the way! Thanks for the great experience.

I was very excited to visit Capital, as I have eaten Chef Martin's food at Crave in Vancouver. The pan-fried salmon and lemon-ricotta gnocchi was one of the best meals I have ever had. My friends and I shared a lemon tart and a toffee cake for dessert, and both were delicious. It's too bad I don't live in Winnipeg, otherwise I would be here all the time. Thank you for a wonderful meal!

We tried this place after reading about it, and it didn't disappoint! I got the capital burger, juicy, well cooked and delicious! Husband got the halibut and chips and we split both. Fish was very good also, not too fishy at all, batter light and crisp. Good portions too. Will definitely go back to try the soups and salads. My new fav burger!

We had won a gift card and wanted to check it out this weekend. We were so pleasantly surprised! Warm, welcoming staff and the food was delicious! We shared a Cobb salad and Tuna Tempura Sushi to start...full of flavor. I am always hesitant to order a Caesar but they passed the test! We then split a grilled cheese with short rib and caramelized onions (yum) and fish and chips which were light, flavorful and crisp. We will definitely be back! I love finding new places that are local and have such friendly and efficient service.☆☆☆☆☆

Delicious food, great atmosphere and lovely staff. The apple slaw was out of this world and the crab cake was delicate and tasty. I have never seen my date finish his whole meal until last night when he ordered the halibut special. We will be back! Thank you for an amazing evening :)
Cindy Kaston-Radford
We were there on Friday with great company. We all loved the food and the staff. We will definitely be back. Nice to have such awesome quality in the neighborhood. P.S. Captain Morgan's spice rum would be a great addition. :-)

A friend and I came in from Saskatoon for a two week CTRI course and chose Capital Grill and Bar for a late supper. Closing time was in 15 minutes but we were welcomed warmly. We were sold on their feature of the day by the very thorough, friendly, helpful, great Zack, (grilled halibut, asparagus, grape tomatos, baby potatos, butter sauce). It was AMAZING!! Prepared perfectly!! (Which, sadly, is unusual for fish entrees in most restaurants) We will be coming back several times in the next two weeks to sample more of their amazingly prepared food. 🌻

2nd visit here tonight! Food and service was, yet again, outstanding! Our server was so knowledgeable and friendly, the food is obviously made with passion, and the atmosphere is so relaxing! We'll be back again soon!
Gord Boultbee
We went the first tin last Thursday. We had one of the best meals we have had. We went again this week with Elan Boultbee and a friend of hers. It again exceeded all expectations. Thanks so much for great food and exceptional service. We will be back soon.

This place deserves more than 5 stars. Ended up here because our other plans fell through. It was getting close to closing time for them but they didn't make us feel rushed. Shan took his time going over the menu with us and offering suggestions. Took our drink order and in no time our food was ready. Honestly the best burger I've had in years! And as silly as it sounds, do not miss out on the fries. In-house cut and seasoned. I've only been once but I plan on making this a regular stop. Make sure to try this place. Great conversation and atmosphere.

Delightful place for lunch. Delicious meals and attentive service.

Good food and service is amazing. Prices are great for what you get.

The chef is quite rude to his staff please do not support this place, it is not the place you think it is nor is the chef the person you think h is.

The Swizzle Styx had lunch here this week and it was excellent. The service was fabulous and the place was packed. The food was great and very generous portions. It’s a really cozy and lovely place with great food, highly recommend!
I Love To Eat
Started with the Caesar Salad, not bad but could have used a bit more garlic. Had the fish and chips... amazing!! Not greasy or heavy, wonderful home cut fries! The Grill Cheese short rib sandwich was a delight! The service was fantastic and we would recommend!!

Atmosphere: I have to say, I've avoided this restaurant until now because of its location. The strip mall it's located in, alongside a Subway and Starbucks isn't exactly the most appealing. Unfortunately this kind of translates to the interior as well; it's nicely decorated, but at the end of the day you remain acutely aware of the fact you're in a strip mall. Other than this, the restaurant was way too cold (we noticed a heater near our section, so clearly they're aware of this - didn't help much though). Otherwise, a nice looking place.

Service: Both the host and server were friendly and helpful. The owner (?) also brought water and our food to the table, and was pleasant. Nothing exceptional, but certainly satisfactory.

Drinks: Drink menu had a good variety of beers (including some decent craft options), as well as cocktails and wine list. We enjoyed one of their Tequila Sunsets, as well as a Sawdust City Amber Ale. Both were enjoyable.

Food: We ordered the Capital Burger and fish and chips, respectively. Capital Burger was enjoyable for my guest, however I must say the fish and chips were a bit of a let down. I had heard very good things about them here, but I wouldn't order again. Came with two medium size pieces of fish, which were alright but nothing spectacular. Fries were poor, and took away from the meal. Overall, not the best food around. I'd choose a number of options over their food choices.

Overall: A decent dining experience, if you can look past the odd location. Menu is alright, food is decent if not a little over priced. Would recommend visiting once, but doubt we'll be back soon.

For dinner, my wife and I both ordered the lamb shank. Our server said it had sold out the previous day but the restaurant had been lucky to get more. The meal consisted of a lamb shank, mashed potatoes, and some plain steamed vegetables. It came in a large bowl with the lamb sitting on top of the rest, which was swimming in a thin, almost tasteless liquid. Neither the lamb shank nor the accompaniments had much flavour either. We ate a couple of bites and decided that the meal would be salvageable if the kitchen poured off most of what our server referred to as "au jus." When we politely asked to have that done, the server grabbed our bowls and stated that the restaurant had been featuring this dish for two years and "everybody really likes it." After about 10 minutes, at our table appeared a man, who did not introduce himself, but who, we now know, was the Manager, Greg. We asked if he was the chef, to which Greg replied, "Oh no, your wouldn't want to talk to him now. He's furious." Greg went on to tell us that the chef has been preparing this dish for ten years, has been the chef at a Four Seasons hotel, and would not comply with our request. He also repeated the server's statement that everyone really likes the dish, clearly implying that we were poor judges of food and had unrefined tastes. There was no apology or concern showed that we had not enjoyed our meal. As my wife and I have dined at fine restaurants in major cities all over the world, in both hemispheres (e.g., we just returned from a three-week tour of Thailand, Cambodia, and Bali - including at the spectacular Four Seasons north of Chiang Mai), we were shocked and outraged at the Manager's attitude. We have NEVER been treated at any restaurant from Rome, to New York, to Paris, to London, in such an astonishingly insulting, disrespectful, and condescending manner. We did not order another item, left the restaurant, went down the street to a competitor, and had a delicious meal with excellent service. We will never again darken the door of the Capital Bar and Grill. It is important to emphasize that it was the way that we were treated, more so than the quality of the food, that is our primary complaint.

Been to the Cap twice now. The first time was a few months back, we had the fish and chips, and some wonderful homemade soup. Both were excellent, and the service was decent. However prices were predatory.

Today, we attended and ordered the special - which was fried scallops, baby potatoes, asparagus and some garnishments. The food was ok, but very sparse. A few scallops, a few halves of baby potatoes, and maybe three tiny shreds of asparagus. Needless to say, we were all still hungry when we left, contrary to our waiter's assertion that the meals we ordered would be very significant and an extremely good value. At $32 per plate (our bill came right close to $200 after 2 small glasses of wine, some pop and a beet salad), it was very poor value. Our waiter Ryan, was otherwise very attentive and pleasant to deal with.

The place is very small, so when it's packed it's extremely loud. Either go early to beat the crowd, which is what we did today, or bring ear plugs. It's good quality food, but the predatory pricing and today's tiny portions will make us think twice next time we are looking for a restaurant.

I would also like to dispel the myth that this place is upscale. It's bar and grill food, burgers and fries. The menus are printed on disposable mats. Absolutely nothing upscale about it. Don't let the decor or super high prices fool you, Charleswood.

Our first supper club visit and won't be the last. Service was great. Better than most places I can remember. I had the Capital burger and my gf had the fish and chips. Both were awesome. Everyone at our table of 9 really enjoyed their dinner. I am full and satisfied.
Stephanie
It's kind of upscale without being pretentious. I had the burger and fries and split a lemon tart. Everything hands down awesome! Seasoning on the fries is addictive. For sure will go back.

Capital Grill and Bar serves upscale bar food in the middle of Charleswood. It takes a concept of the local bar and grill and one ups it by offering nuanced and at times unique combinations that one would not expect. And while some of the items were under seasoned the food altogether was tasty, elegantly served and appropriately priced. Worth a visit.

A Winnipeg blog about the joy of preparing food for loved ones and the shared joy that travel & dining brings to life. The high cost of living elsewhere in Canada is proving fortuitous for the Winnipeg culinary scene as Chefs and restaurateurs who have ventured to Toronto and Vancouver return home. Such was the case with Greg and Chef Wayne Martin

The fish and chips are unreal! I've never dined in but the take out service is prompt and the staff is very friendly! My coworkers have told me the soup is to die for and the burgers look delicious

Best soup I have ever had (butternut squash) it's sweet and creamy and nutty. I had a spoonful of my moms and ordered my own cup because it was so good. Then we split the beet salad, which was delicious. and then we split the angus burger. It was honestly one of the best burgers I have ever had. the meat is juicy and flavourful and the waiter gladly substituted the bacon for avocado which made us very happy. The atmosphere is a causal yet upscale mix with a really cool vibe. The waiter was beyond attentive and very friendly. My mom goes to capital every second week! This was my first time, and I have already made reservations to go back next week. My new favourite Winnipeg restaurant!

The high cost of living elsewhere in Canada is proving fortuitous for the Winnipeg culinary scene as Chefs and restaurateurs who have ventured to Toronto and Vancouver return home. Such was the case with Greg and Chef Wayne Martin. Dining with a good friend at the Capital Grill meant that we could share plates when we were both undecided as to what to order for the appetizing menu of “renewed classics”. The linguine caught the attention of both of us. Neither of us are vegetarians but the promise of roasted cauliflower, tomatoes, capers, preserved lemon and crisp shaved fennel was so tempting. In the end we opted to go healthy with a Beet Salad adding both goat cheese and chicken breast but also treat ourselves with short rib poutine.
Ken
Stay away from the brisket poutine. The fries were great but came with a messy topping of greyish beef topped with shredded parmesan - little taste and overwhelmed by the salty fries. I asked for Ketchup.

When I suggested to the maitre d that it could be improved with some colour and flavour by maybe a hint of something tomato - he scrunched up his face, said "yeew - on poutine!?" And walked away. Later I heard people at the next table saying almost the same thing about the brisket sandwich.

More interested in being a "bistro" than flavour and presentation of lowly poutine.

We enjoyed our meal. The food and service were great. The chicken breast was crispy and moist. Lemon tart was a classic hit. The grilled cheese sandwich substituted with avocado was bland.

Trying out the new local places and while the service was good and the food looked nice we all agreed that most things lacked flavor and we were left underwhelmed..... We will give it another shot for sure as we like to support the local places.

I grew up in charleswood. Last night a friend and I went to capital for dinner and took a good look around and went down memory lane of all of the places we have seen come and go in our past. Not only did this area need a nice restaurant to go to we needed somewhere close to enjoy good food.
I have now became a "regular" at capital as its close to home and if I am not looking for a big meal they are always there to greet you with the most pleasant smiles to sit up at the bar top. All of the staff including the owners greg and chef wayne make you feel welcome. I have now made a point to try something new every visit. Last night we both ordered the Chipotle back ribs. Chef Wayne accomodated subsituting our french fries for mashed potatoes also coming with coleslaw. The meal was delicious. The ribs easily came off the bone. Not too much sauce but just enough. If you are like me and your eyes close when you eat something incredible the mashed potatoes will have you staring at your eye lids. I am not a huge fan of coleslaw on any occasion but I have no complaints. We were so full after our meal. I have now made a new guest out of another friend as he talked the whole ride home of when he will be back.

DISAPPOINTED US TWICE. I made reservations for our family 2 1/2 weeks before my wife's 65th birthday. The day of our reservation I called Capital Grill to add one person to our reservation (someone flying in from Vancouver). The employee said they had no record of my reservation. I spoke with the Manager (Greg) and he said he would check further. He called me back 10 minutes later saying they had no record of my reservation. Panicked I said I would have to order pizza now but the manager offered no further support. It was too late to book at another restaurant so we ordered pizza for my wife's 65th birthday. My wife was devastated and visited the Manager after her birthday and said she felt she was owed "something" for ruining her birthday dinner. The Manager replied I must have called the wrong number to make the reservation (funny it was the same one I called the second time and contacted the Capital Grill), he felt he satisfied the husband on the phone days earlier and owed her NOTHING. Come on! This was was a significant life event for my wife and he should have tried to satisfy her, not me. She would have been happy with any small token of his sincerity. My wife and I worked in the service industry for years, teaching service excellence for a period of time We had a motto in the industry... "Get good service and a customer will tell 3 people...Get bad service and they generally tell 9". Well the Capital Grill succeeded in turning 8 people off of their restaurant as well as a number of our friends and relatives who have heard our story.

Grew up in Charleswood and moved away for a few years. Happy to come back to see so many new restaurants pop up in the area! My wife and I Decided to try this place after passing by it so many times. The decor was nice and clean. I ordered the fish and chips which were recommended to me by my server. The fries were so salty they hurt my mouth! and the fish was tasteless. My wife had the Burger and fries, her fries were just as salty and the burger also had no flavour. The presentation was nice and decor was alright but this place gets a huge thumbs down in the flavour department.
Peter Cavey
Best fries I've ever had. The waitress went on and on as to the amount of ingredients to make it just right. I'll never be able to duplicate it at home so I guess I'll just have to come back soon ;). Also came with this glorious burger called "the capital burger" which was so huge I needed a knife and fork. Btw this place is brand new and the decor is so minty I love it! I'll definitely be back.

Seven of us went for dinner last night - we were told upon being seated that there was a reservation coming in an hour!!! So automatically we were unfomfortable! Menu items ordered by our party were burgers, tuna roll, halibut, fish and chips....one halibut had to be sent back due to it not being cooked (quite raw). Tuna roll was tasteless - looked nice but not flavorfull, fish and chips were good, burgers were certainly not anything to talk about at work the next day - served on garlic bread and not a bun. Service was quite poor - 3 people at our table wanted a second beverage, but one one ever came by our table - and others that ordered pop were never offered a refill. Waiting to pay our bill took an expetional amount of time. Tables were too close together - but the decor in the restaurant was very nice. Menu is VERY limited, not a lot of selection and many of us in the party did not find anything that made us excited, or that we really wanted to order, so we settled on the go-to burger or fish and chips. Overall impression, would not go back, would not recommend to family or friends. Dissapointing.
Stephen J.
We have been to Capital Grill several times since opening and have tried many items on the menu. Stand outs for me include the halibut and chips and the Ahi tuna roll. My wife is very partial to the Cobb salad.
Service is very good and Greg, the owner, is always around. Great addition to Charleswood and Winnipeg.
Nicole_
Soup came with a hair on top, and the server seemed quite irritated when I asked for a new one citing they would have to make it again. No apology. It was quite odd.
I ordered the brown rice and quinoa burger. It was like eating sticky rice in garlic bread -and was impossible to eat is was so soft. Most vegetarian burgers are soft but this literally fell apart. I was disappointed for sure. The fries were topped with a lemon pepper salt which I didn't enjoy surprisingly. That might have had something to do with the taste of the potato? I'm not sure which type of potatoes they used but they were not right, really starchy. My husband enjoyed his salad and sandwich but I don't think we will be back. Disappointed because the reviews were so good! Oh well. Wouldn't recommend to friends or family.

Having read really great reviews about this place, I decided to take my husband here to have lunch. I was surprised to see the restaurant being a little empty, and I guess the likely reason is because not many people know about this place yet.

This place used to be the old Asahi restaurant, so they did a great job in renovating it. We were greeted by the server immediately and was taken to our table. Our server was really great and checked up on us often to make sure we were doing okay, and refilled our waters without us asking her to.

I knew right away that I was going to get the beer battered halibut and chips ($18) and the husband got the angus beef burger ($12) and added cheddar ($1.50) and bacon ($1.50). Aside from cheddar, you could also get swiss or blue cheese, and back bacon instead of bacon. You can also add avocado, grilled onions, or mushrooms for the same price as the other add-ons.

My fish and chips came with two pieces of beer battered halibut, house cut fries, housemade tartar sauce, and coleslaw. At first bite, I was completely floored by it. It was the best fish and chips I've ever had, and even my husband thought so too. He couldn't stop talking about how amazing it was. The batter was light and crispy and wasn't overly greasy or heavy. The halibut was meaty and tender. The coleslaw was not overly dressed and had a slight tang to it, which I liked. The tartar sauce was also made really well, as it wasn't too tangy.

The husband and I shared our dishes, so I got to try his burger. His burger was really flavourful and juicy. Aside from what he added to the burger, it also came with lettuce, tomato, pickle, and sliced red onions. The focaccia bread (which I think they used) was toasted. It was, however, a bit messy due to the tomatoes, which caused the juice to drip onto my hands and plate.

Overall, a really great experience and I definitely recommend trying the fish and chips, if you can't decide on what to order.

Came with my wife for lunch. Food was great. My wife had to the egg white frittata, and I had the Capitol burger. Both were excellent. My fries were tossed in something that made them delicious.
Red wine sangria tasted like summer. Will have to try them for supper soon.

My wife took me and our son out for a late lunch for Father's Day. Our meals were great and the service was amazing! We were very impressed and will return.

According to my friend, Capital has the best bison ribeye he's ever had anywhere in Winnipeg. I had the "Shorty Rigatoni", which was delicious. Can't wait until they open for brunch!
Jennyfromtheblock
Went to Capital yesterday with a friend for a later dinner. Had the salad with steak and blue cheese, my friend had the crab cake with apple slaw and salad. Both were delicious! Service was very pleasant and attentive. Great dollar value. Impressed, and will definitely be back!

Pretty darn good! My family decided to check this place out since its fairly new and close to home. The service was absolutely stellar with us being seated in a busy restaurant in under five minutes.

The food was great as well! I had the pulled pork and slaw sandwich, and would happily go back for another

My husband and I had the pleasure of dining at this establishment tonight. I must say that to not let people know about this gem in Winnipeg would be wrong. Chef Wayne you truly have out done yourself. You have an amazing team. Your front of the house staff was professional, friendly and prompt. We enjoyed appetizers, entrees and finished with dessert. The halibut was outstanding. I have never had fish and chips that was so perfectly cooked and executed so well. The fish was moist , so light and flaky it practically melted in your mouth. Everything was unbelievable.
Capital Grill is my new favourite restaurant. I thank Chef Wayne for bringing some excitement back into the Winnipeg food scene.

Great Addition to Winnipeg !. Went on a Friday night to celebrate with friends from work. I had the Linguini Pasta. Two others ordered the Capital Burger and the third ordered the Mussels and Fries, but asked for a caesar salad instead of the fries.
The food was hot and spectacular. The pasta was so tasty with a the different flavours of the nuts and pesto. Will definitely order it again. The Capital Burger was huge and had great flavour. A must order if you like burgers! The Mussels were a big hit too. Love the roasted garlic. Portion size was perfect.

The table next to us ordered the Beer Battered Halibut and Chips and Chipotle BBQ Baby Back Ribs. Both meals we huge! The ribs and fish were practically hanging off the plate. I am definitely trying the fish next time.

We ended with their two desserts. One was a warn sticky toffee pudding with amazing vanilla bean ice cream...the other was a lemon tart with a caramelized Crème Brûlée like top. Wow wow wow to both deserts! A great end to a fun night out and very tasty meal!
Tammy
Amazing Steak Salad!!!! Refreshing menu and atmosphere for Tuxedo/Charleswood dining options which until now have been lacking. We will definitely be going back and exploring this wonderful menu. Service was excellent as well as the decor. Thanks for a great lunch!

So much salt.. Today I went to the Capital Grill and Bar with my mom after seeing it on my way home. We were curious so we decided to go there for lunch, and we regretted it. They forgot to get our cutlery until after we got our food, which was a bit annoying. And the food........ugh. We ordered the short rib poutine and the haddock and chips, and we couldn't finish it because the fries were so salty. At the time I'm writing this it's 5:30, and my mouth is still numb from how salty the fries were. I had to take a drink of water each time I had a single fry, and even that didn't help much. Also, the amount of food we got didn't fit the price. The haddock and chips gave us two rather small pieces if fish, too little for a price of $18. The only complement I can give is that the interior was decent, but even that wasn't anything special. I give this place half a star out of five, and the half a star is because it wasn't butt ugly.

Just opened. They have only been open a couple of days but we were lucky enough to get in with reservations. We both had the fish and chips and they were great. Large helpings, fresh fries and great taste. Had the lemon tart for dessert and it was one of the best I have ever had! We will definitely be back.
