Review Pho Kim Tuong - Winnipeg

David Kairo
Lovely place, homestyle atmosphere. Pad Thai was so so, maybe a bit too sweet. Excellent pho, with beef tendon. The four of us shared an extra large bowl and it was enough for us. Spicy shrimp was ok, bit heavy, but tasted great!

Good Customer Service with a glass of hot water when we mentions its cold outside today. And delicious food 😋 and reasonable price.

Excellent food, service, and affordable prices at this restaurant. The owner and his elderly mother were so delightfully friendly and accommodating to me as I waited for my take-out order. The mother sang songs in her home country's language, which was very uplifting for these times. I enjoyed listening to her. Bless her good spirits.

Pho Kim Tuong is my favorite place for their #R14. Grilled Chicken, Pork Chop, and Shredded Pork with Steamed and Fried Egg. That second dish is enough for two people. I love that & their V27 Deluxe Vermicelli Bowl with grilled pork. When that year or more of construction was going on I was parking way off & walking through construction mess to get there. They gave a bit of free fresh fruit with the meal. Yes there are prettier places but the prices & taste is excellent here. You'll leave happy & very stuffed or have food for leftovers. Kudos!

Nice Vietnamese Cuisine with great staffs. The foods are all awesome with surprise fruits desserts. Their food quality and taste are quite consistent and the quantity is very satisfying. Big eaters may ask a bit more on top of the XL size noodle soup.

Our favorite Vietnamese resturant in Winnipeg. We cant get enough of their pho. The taste is always consistent. The fried shrimp is also delicious. The complimentary fruit platter is amazing. Staff is attentive and service is fast most of the time. We have tried lots of Vietnamese restaurants in Winnipeg but this restaurant is king.

Pretty good restaurant. Every time we come to Winnipeg we choose this Pho Kim Tuong. A12, P18, P23(spicy), and P23 are what we always ordered food.☺️

Tried many Vietnamese restaurants and found this one to be the best. Fabulous food. Fabulous service-very friendly. Has never disappointed and would highly recommend.

If there is one type of restaurant that my area of Winnipeg is blessed with an abundance of, it’s Vietnamese. Many of the boat people who came to Winnipeg at the end of the 1970s and into the 80s settled in the West End of the city. One of the results of this is that the neighbourhood contains around 20 Vietnamese places, any of which are no more than a 20 minute walk from my house.
Andrea
One of the best pho places in Winnipeg! They give huge servings of pho and even free fruits! Went here for a birthday and the customer service was amazing. Really nice and friendly owners/servers. We also tried their crispy shrimp that was really delicious - would recommend!

Horrible Communication, Crappy Customer Service.

Ahh Pho Kim Tuong. I have always known this as the "Yellow Restaurant" across my school back when I went to General Wolfe... Good times. Anyway, back to the review...

I walked inside the restaurant, and an old man asked if he could take my order. I tell him "no cilantro" on my pho, and he carries the request to the kitchen. I think all is well until afterwards another waitress asks me how I'm doing, and the old man starts a conversation with her in Vietnamese. I think he told her I am too poor to eat there? She proceeds to ask me if "I have money?" Who in their right mind would walk into a restaurant and order food if THEY DID NOT have money? I simply said, yes, and they walked right back into the kitchen. Afterwards, I made sure to leave my freaking credit card on the table, just so they wouldn't ask me again. They bring out the pho, which by the way, is severely lacking in broth, and is made up for it by over stuffing the bowl with noodles. Who does this? Most pho restaurants I've been to ALWAYS prioritize the broth, because that's the main part of the dish. But I guess this restaurant just likes to do things differently? Oh yeah, and it came with cilantro. I spent roughly 10 minutes trying to use small chopsticks to get the tiny leaves out of my pho. Never coming back.

We absolutely love Pho Kim Tuong. Delicious Vietnamese cuisine and a great family feel. Our favorite dish is the spicy peanut beef rice noodle soup - Large portion, very flavorful & soothing, The complimentary fruit plate is a nice touch. Highly recommend.

Best Pho in the city. Only problem is all menus are different and when you try and pay the owner will make up random prices. I have got the same dish twice and received two different prices and she tried to argue with me and say I read the prices wrong. All the menus have different prices. Bubble tea took so long to get to us as well. Its a shame that the price varies because I would definitely be a regular.

Average at best. I've been here seven times and each time was met with a similar experience. I was able to try the beef pho, banh xeo, goi cuon, com tam, bun cha, as well as some other dishes. Having been able to try these dishes on separate occasions, I can say with confidence once again, average at best.

Just a holistic overview of common ingredients used in Vietnamese cuisine, which includes long coriander, Thai basil, bamboo shoots, water spinach, bean sprouts, shallots, among others, which I did see at Pho Kim Tuong. However, the way it was utilized is another question.

A small gratuitous plate of fruits is also included with your meals, which is normally 10 grapes, 2 slices of cantaloupe and 2 slices of watermelon.

With that being said, there's an abundance of alternatives for Vietnamese food on Ellice, Sargent and Isabel. Pho Hoang Restaurant, Viva Restaurant, Pho No. 1 etc.

Definitely the best pho restaurant in Winnipeg! Every single dish is so flavourful and they don't focus on one type of food over the other. The service is attentive and at dinner they even serve you a plate of fruit as a thank you. I've had their bun bo hue, pho dac biet, deep fried shrimp, vermicelli and salad rolls and enjoyed all of them. What I love about their dishes is that they add a lot of extra/variety of things which makes them stand out from all the other restaurants.

This place is the bomb! The food is outstanding. They serve Thai, Chinese and Vietnamese and they do it all well!
My husband and I are never disappointed when we leave the place. The Pad Thai, General Zso's Chicken, Singapore Noodles are fabulous! The shrimp that is served is large, juicy and cooked just right in all the dishes we have had. The cooks really know what they are doing. The servings are very generous.

The staff is great, very friendly and accommodating. The service is excellent. You never have to wait for long for the food to arrive. It is always packed with Asian clientele which a good sign.

We are so fortunate to live just up the street from where are located. Best Asian Restaurant in the West End!

the PHO here is fantastic, and the mango salad is unreal.
My favourite place in the city for Authentic Pho in WInnipeg!
I frequent this location a few times a month, and have great service and excellent food.

Will be back.

My boyfriend and I went here on a Saturday around 5pm. We were seated very quickly. The waitress was friendly and helped us order as it was our first time there. My boyfriend got the Special spicy beef noodle soup and tempura shrimp, he really enjoyed both. I got the tempura tofu, which was delicious. I also got the Pho with no meat and it was really good too. Overall we had a really good experience here and the food was very tasty. We will definitely be back to try some other dishes on the very large menu!

Came here with the family for dinner after a Vietnamese colleague recommended it. I have my regular go to's around town when it comes to pho. But since I had never heard of this place, I decided to make the trek to give them a try.

Service is lightning fast at this place. They really try to get you seated and have your food delivered out to you as quick as possible. Not once did we feel rushed and they were very accommodating with requests for extra sauce and extra utensils.

We ordered a variety of appetizers and soups. They were all excellent! I especially enjoyed the Bun Rieu (Shrimp and Crab Soup vermicelli). The broth was delicious and they were very generous with the toppings. The garnishes that came with the soups were some of the most comprehensive I have ever had at any Vietnamese restaurant in Winnipeg, the plate included long coriander, bean sprouts, red cabbage, mint, Thai basil, lime, chili and shredded banana blossom.

To our surprise, we were treated to a complimentary plate of fruit to cap off an already wonderful meal. It was certainly a nice touch and we will definitely be back.

I pretty much get the same thing every time I go here (P19L) beef sate. It really is the best pho I have ever had hands down.

Sometimes I will get a shrimp skewer or spring rolls as a side. The iced coffee is great also.

Always fast and friendly service, will always continue to go here.
Andrew
This is by far the best phõ in Winnipeg! Excellent flavoured broth, clear and not too salty. Noodles are excellent quality and meat and veggies are fresh and crisp. Sometimes they even bring a fruit plate on the house! Coffee is excellent, staff is friendly and service is quick, even when it's busy.
Would highly recommend this place to all.

Sadly was unable to try their food and won't be back. Went there with my husband for a couple of bubble teas and while waiting for our order an older female waitress saw my pregnant belly and went in for a rub. I covered it with my arms while saying, "No, no, no..." And she kept at it. She accidentally scratched my arm while doing this. We left feeling pretty shocked, embarrassed and confused as to what made her think it was okay to touch a customer. The food and service other wise may usually be great, but that left a bad taste in our mouths...

We came during what would normally be a rush hour for restaurants and were allowed to seat ourselves right away with several choices available. Service was not particularly prompt, and perhaps a bit confused simply due to not understanding if we were to bring our order up to the front or if they would come by. Otherwise, our waters were never empty and plates were cleared right away. Everyone we saw smiled at us and all staff were very pleasant and eager to please.

Everything we tried had a lot of flavour. The beef on our rice dish was absolutely delicious with flavours I'm not sure I've sampled before. The Vietnamese coffee was delightful hot and, when one server saw that we were finishing our meals but hadn't finished the coffee yet, almost more delicious cold. Who knew? The portions were more than adequate per person and we did not leave hungry (apologies for the one picture of the meal after we'd already dug in! It's included simply to show size though presentation was also nice before we demolished it).

All meals come with a selection of fresh cut fruit for dessert which was a delight. What better way to end a meal? Complex and bold flavours followed by some simple fruit was perfect and I'd go back for just that if nothing else.
Spencer
Loved it. Suuuuper tastey and authentic. Very nice service too. Didnt take too long and they were packed full. Yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuummy.

Went for lunch and this place is easy to miss. Surprisingly larger and neat decor, very dark lighting. I ordered the P35 chicken curry soup and the rest ordered the Shrimp vermicelli. It did take awhile as it was half full and only 2 serving for the whole place. I thought my soup add ons of basil, bean sprouts would be coming and all I got was half a lime and 2 chilies. So I asked to which the older lady said it comes in the soup. To which it did and very minimal so I wasn't too happy I wasn't able to get more. The soup was sweet but even with the chili peppers was not spicy, so I added siracha. It lacked salt, loaded with onions and no other veggies other than the minimal soggy bean sprouts and only one note in the soup. On top of it the chicken was a very old leg chopped in 3 pieces, it was obvious the soup was made quite some time ago. I ordered a strawberry-kiwi bubble tea with rainbow tapioca and it never showed up at the table. My friend got hers as we were packing our food up which we had to ask for packaging and she forgot mine so I had to ask again to bring me a container. At the register I was finally told there were out of rainbow tapioca but could add jelly so I grudgingly accepted. It was flavorful but the regular tapioca and jelly were frozen solid, so when it melted it separated the bubble tea and turned very wattery. On top of that I was over-charged me. The only way I'd go back is if I went with co-workers again and for the deluxe pho beef soup or deluxe vermicelli.

Pho Kim Tuong is such an amazing Vietnamese restaurant. As with every Vietnamese restaurant, a good sense of their worth is the broth they provide with the pho they serve. With theirs being perfectly seasoned and not too oily, one can conclude that it is easily the easiest choice for your pho craving.

Not only is their pho delicious, but they also provided amazing service. The owner was super enthusiastic and was the right amount of chatty without being overbearing, which I feel is the perfect combination of great customer service.
William Tong Li
Pho Kim Tuong is the ultimate comfort food location in Winnipeg and an instant recommendation for authentic and reasonably priced Vietnamese cuisine. Its owners take a no nonsense, quick in and out type of experience and focus on creating delicious cuisine, one that ranks highly on the list of Winnipeg's best Vietnamese.

Ive had this place a could of times. I always get a deluxe vermicelli bowl and a vietnamese iced coffee. Its always a good meal here. Quick service and cheap food.

An incredible eating experience!! I am slowly going to be working my way through the menu, but recently i have been finding myself stuck on the spicy beef noodle soup. I usually get it to go, and they still fill my bag with all the goodies, separated in their own containers, to be put in at my leisure. Warning, if you do decide to take it home, make sure you have a bowl big enough to handle the awesomeness!! All the different ingredients work together to make it something extra special!! I'm heading there right now!

The rice/vermicelli bowls are generous in size and a great mix of fresh veggies and lemongrass and soy marinated grilled meats (pork/beef/chicken available). A very homey meal.

The deluxe pho is also a solid option if you've got a hankering for some noodle-y goodness. The broth is clear and hearty.
You can tell a great Vietnamese restaurant when there are many Vietnamese regulars :)

PS. Hope they will join the Skip-the-Dishes network soon.

I have been here many times for lunch and dinners.

The food is always great and the service is consistent and friendly.
Every time I take a co-worker for lunch, they thank me for introducing me to this place.
Even out of town guests love this place.
I normally stick to the Pho or Vermicelli but I have tried other dishes and I am always impressed.
I love this place.

Nice little place. I came here because it was the closest pho place with a decent rating and I'm happy I tried it. The staff was super friendly, the young lady at the front always has a smile on and has very good knowledge of the dishes they serve. If you had a question about any dishes, she would go into great detail. The meat spring rolls were alright. I had the spicy beef noodle (with peanuts) pho, and it was different. The spicy was delightful (tasted to be about a 6-7 on the spice scale). Some customers seem to know the staff very well there were at least 3 tables that were regulars which was very nice to see. I enjoyed my experience.

I found out about Pho Kim Tuong from a friend of mine. After seeing photos he posted on Facebook, I had brought my husband here on several occasions.

The restaurant is kind of dark when you enter inside, except for the light fixtures they have on. There is barely any natural light going into the restaurant at all, except for the table that is in front of the counter where you pay. So for someone like me who likes to take photos of my food in natural light, that was a downer, but the food totally makes up for it.

I've never had their pho before, but my husband seemed to think it was quite good. He always orders the pho tai, which is the one with just rare beef. It comes in small ($7.50), large ($8.50), and extra large ($11.50).

The spring rolls were also quite good, and you can get them either with meat or vegetarian. They don't ask you which kind you want, so make sure you let them know. It also comes in small ($3.50) or large ($5.95), and we usually order the large which comes with 6 spring rolls, and comes with a nuoc cham (fish sauce based) dipping sauce.

One of my favourite things to order is their bun rieu, which is a tomato and crabmeat based broth, served with vermicelli, fried tofu puffs, cha lua (vietnamese sausage), sliced pork, and topped with fried shallots, scallion, and cilantro. There are also various herbs, bean sprouts, and lime provided for you to add into your bowl. Usually when my family makes this, we would add shrimp paste for additional flavour and enhancement to the broth. Shrimp paste is an acquired taste, so do be careful if you plan on trying it. Also, they don't automatically provide you with the shrimp paste. I happen to ask the server if they have any, which they did, and brought some to me. So whenever I order this dish, I always ask for shrimp paste to go along with it. Another thing is, this is the only place in the city which seems to have this dish, because I haven't seen it in any of the Vietnamese restaurants that I've been to.

Also, like most Vietnamese restaurants, they don't usually provide much table service. The only time they will come to your table is when you're ready to order and when they bring food to your table. Otherwise, they don't really check up on you, and if you want a drink/water refill, you'll have to call them over.
OinkOink
As a meat eater their pho was meh in comparison to other places I've been to in the city. My vegetarian friends LOVE their vegetarian pho (apparently it's vegan) however, never tried it, but it's worth noting if you have vegetarian friends who have a hankering for pho.

I find their best dishes are the non-soup dishes and they're not even on the menu, the owner suggests them herself. The lemongrass basil chicken is to die for. If it's not the owner taking the order the server does get confused when we order that dish.

Best pho place ever!! Always great service and delicious food. P19, the satay pho cows with rare beef, generous portion of cilantro, onions, noodles and peanuts. Ask for them to cut the noodles because they're super long especially with using chopsticks. Ginger beef dish is also exquisite as is the coconut shrimp. I'm there once a week and the first bite(sip) I take is never a disappointment. Always try to go here for pho unless it's closed. Never sick of this place or their food. Amazing all around!!!

I've been giving this restaurant chance after chance to redeem themselves in treating loyal customers well with good service. Nope. My boyfriend and I have been at this restaurant on and off because of the service we've received.

We come back for the food, but the food has not been consistently good. The younger servers never smile, greet, ask for refills of waters. I've been to this restaurant and the server never says a single word to the both of us.

The food definitely does not make up for the really poor service and I would not be returning again. Which is unfortunate, due to the decent food they serve.

Our go to place is Phuong Nam and they always have good and quick service.

First visit , AMAZING !!. We have been doing Vietnamese restaurants for around 25 yrs. in Winnipeg.
This place takes 1st after tonight's experience.
Decor was better than all others , service was prompt , food was as good or better .
Staff were more than wonderful with me
as a newcomer , and what I noticed was hugs being given out to all the regulars .

First time , AMAZING. I've been going to 1/2 a dozen Vietnamese places for 25 years
This place by far surpassed all of them for service , the food was just as good and the decor much better than all the other places.
Fresh fruit at the end of the meal was a very nice treat .
I will be back PHO sure !!!!

BEST PHO (soups ) In town!. The flavors are amazing and service is always with a smile! We enjoy the free fruit that comes at the end of each dinner meal !!!! Good prices! One of our favorite places!!

Worst experience. Had seafood noodle soup, tapioca style, barely had any noodles in them, wanted to change our table as we sat at a table that was only available which was in front of the entrance. Shr said to wait 5mins n gave the tables to people who walked in. Few mins later food came so we told her that we will moving she said such a rude way, "WAIT, K?, YOU WAIT". And we ended up not moving at all.... my bill should 've been $23.73. But she charged me $24 even. I calculated our bill once we were on the road. Its only $.28 but still.... dont ever go to this restaurant. If u do make sure to check ur bill. I really really suggest NOT to go!!!!!!

Went there for the first time, and was very impressed. Ordered several dishes & there was only one I didn't like.

Worst servers in winnipeg. The food is good, but the service is absolutely horrible. First time I went here, we asked for the bubble tea to be served after we were done our pho. What did the server do? She served them along side our soup! I told her again and she glared at me and said "oh, okay. I'll put them in the fridge for now." Anyone who's had bubble tea knows that is a huge no-no. By the time we got them, the pearls were hard and rubbery. Also, the whole time, she spoke like an angel and flirted with my brother in law (chinese, same as her) while ignoring the rest of us (not chinese.)

The next time, I decided to give this place a shot again. I was disappointed. Bubble tea served out first AGAIN! Who the hell wants to drink a slushy with hot pho? My order was screwed up as well. I told her she made a mistake and she had told me "no, that's what you said you got." Excuse you! If you paid an ounce of attention to your patrons, you'd know what I ordered, but no. She must have been to busy flirting and giggling with my Chinese brother in law. Eww. I concluded there that all their servers must be stupid idiots! Also, again with the chinese bias, with my brother in law.

Third time I went there, it was just my sister and I. I agreed to give this place one last try, give them one more chance to redeem themselves. Third time is the charm, right? Wrong. Shame on me for having an ounce of hope for them. Again, greeted with terrible service. I didn't give a tip this time around and I'll never, ever come back.

It doesn't matter if you are the most pleasant customer (as I was always respectful and smiled and gave tips) you will be treated like garbage here... unless you speak their language :/

Awful staff. Awful service and unhappy staff, good food thou.

Service is awful. The food is good but service has got to be the worst I have ever experienced. Unfriendly and you have to literally flag them down or go up to the front for service. Will not go back
AEJD
OMFG the Pad Thai is amazing!!! Also ordered pork vermicelli (spelling?) and fried rice, both we good and fresh. I ordered take out and took about 15 mins, I was bright complimentary tea while waiting. I loved the atmosphere while waiting...all the servers were running around working really hard, one lady (the "short fat" one everyone in the reviews is saying is rude) is hilarious! She helped me place my order and choose cause the menu is like 20pgs...anyways...LOVED her! Will be back again and again and again! (ps: I not a friend or relative to owner..my sister brought home take out the other day and it was so good I went back the next day!)

Ended up going here because the other place we wanted to go to was closed. Great dinner! Service was awesome. The food was perfect. The owner is hillarious. Will be back for sure.

Fave lunch spot. I have been going to Pho Kim Tuong for a couple years now on a regular basis.
The first times I went, I was utterly addicted to their Tofu Pad Thai. The tofu is perfect fried goodness on the outside and soft and delicate on the inside. The veggies and pad thai sauce they make is fabulous. Everything is so fresh and the attention to detail is great.
I have since expanded my horizons and tried many of their noodle bowls and phos.
The staff is another wonderful experience there. The owner/manager is so accommodating and a gracious hostess. I don't know where she gets the energy, just watching her run around in the controlled chaos that is a restaurant builds my appetite. No matter how busy she is, when you go to pay, she always has a moment to chat about how your lunch was and once she gets to know you, talk about how things are in general.
I've taken many people (co-workers, friends and family) there and have not heard a single complaint, other than "I shouldn't have ate the whole thing".
This will continue to be my favourite place for lunches for a long time to come.
Yarob
The place is awesome but the staff are rude and its scary to ask for anything its like they get mad, I ordered beef pho it cane just with noodles when I ask for the beef she brought me a plate with rare beef so I can mix it my slef . What the hell. Never going back again.

All About the Pho. Some of the best pho in this city. Let's start with the garnishes. Plump, juicy bean sprouts piled high, like a plate of Mother Nature's noodles. Fresh stems of Vietnamese cilantro, freshly plucked from the deepest, darkest Vietnamese jungle. Sweat-inducing, fiery Thai bird chillies. And the tangiest slices of lime to round out the flavour. Then there's the pho. Stacked high is the rare beef and tripe, happily poaching in the dark brown broth. The broth itself seasoned with hours of simmering and magic is all things: hearty, savoury, slightly sweet; an orchestra of flavour. And the rice noodles... a seemingly never-ending parade of supple, chewy, carb-y deliciousness.

5/5 Urbanspoons

Decent food!. When it comes to Vietnamese, I come to this place quite a bit.

To start I usually get spring rolls (large order comes with 8 pieces) and shrimp on sugar cane (4 pieces). Both are tasty but I must say the onion oil just made the shrimp a little too greasy and it didn't enhance the flavour since there's no onion taste.

Their pho is pretty good in size and quality. The extra large can feed two people! They actually supply all the pho fixings including one that I haven't seen before anywhere else in Winnipeg! I wonder if they use MSG in their soup.

I ordered a V27 (deluxe vermicelli) and it's size is pretty good along with proportion of protein to carbs to veggie.

Overall, for a group of six people, a lunch costed about $80 which is really good value!

Trust me, the good reviews are from the owner's friends and family. This place is HORRIBLE! Waited for an hour for a bland vermicelli. Mcdolads is even better than this crap

They gave our order to the wrong customer so we had to wait an extra hour to eat.... But the wait wasn't worth it as it was just okay. The lemon chicken was not good at all.... At all... RIP Zyzz
Keitaro Urashima
HORRIBLE !. Well I had take out from here a few times and time and time again, I've gotten old rice hard as rocks for more then half my dish and other stuff clearly being left over from the night before. When I complain about it they claim it was a one time thing or I'm lying.

The service is decent depending which server you get, but the short very fat lady has no idea how to greet customers or show proper manners along with a horrible attitude while being rude with customers.
Phillip
Best pho. Rare beer rice noodle soup will you marry me

Will never return anyhow. Too bad service! they are using beef short ribs substitute steak,it's not honest to customer
JoJo Bean
Servers always look mad and they seem very unhappy whenever they're serving customers lol but food here is really good that's why I still go back once in a while.
Mader
Good food but bad service. Their workers were really snobby.

Bubble tea was so good... but the the service is poor especially the girl with long hair i think she does not even wanna work.

Overpriced. I've always enjoyed this place but feel like its overpriced for what you get compared to other places in the city.
IWorkOutSoICanEatAlot
Food is not bad.. but the fat viet chick (probably the owner's daughter) is the biggest bitch when it came to serving!! I feel bad for her-- she's probably forced to work there, doesn't have a life and the social skills of a rat. Yummy pho-- but superstore has better.
Lunatik
Decent food, terrible service. I found the pho was ok, somewhat bland. The vermicelli was good, but nothing special. The service here is terrible, waited quite a bit, just so we can order, and be prepared to wait for water refills as well. Expect to wait a while for everything, especially the food. I find it takes an average 30 minutes to receive the food.
Christineh
Excellent food. Had the highly recommended crispy shrimp - delicious and incredibly large portion. Also shared the mango salad with shredded chicken which I wish I had stumbled on in the summer as it is a perfect hot day meal, and again, very large portion.

Finished with a fabulous mango bubble tea and a big free pot of jasmine tea from our very friendly server.

Really enjoyed my meal, very reasonable prices. Can't wait to go back and try some of the other items.
Katy F
Great food, pleasant service, reasonable price. Try the shrimp on sugar cane for an appetizer - it sounds weird but you kind of chew on the sugar cane and its delicious. Prepare to wait at lunchtime though!
Calamity Ayne
Delicious, super staff. My husband and I just got back from Pho Kim and we loved it (we've been once before.) The service was very friendly, there aren't a TON of vegetarian options, but every one that we tried was delicious. We especially loved the stir fried vegetables with coconut milk based sauce. The servers kept refilling our teapot, brought us a little fruit plate and fortune cookies at the end of the meal (FYI it looks like I'm going to "bring great joy to someone soon"...;) ) and they included an extra order of steamed rice when they packed up our leftovers. I thought the customer service went above and beyond. And the prices are very reasonable. We have enough food to lat us til tomorrow and it only cost $30 (not including the tip.) Highly recommended!

BEST VIETNAMESE RESTAURANT EVER!!!. I don't know what some of the people who reviewed pho kim tuong have up their ass. But they don't know what a good restaurant is. I come here at least once a week and I love it! Their portions are good, service is superb and their food is wonderful. Its no wonder why they are so busy. I used to go to phuong nam and viva but after pho kim tuong opened I just never went anywhere else. Their menu is a little longer that others, but its worth trying. They have the best pho soups and make sure you try the s10 crispy shrimp as the owner always suggests. Its a hit!!

Food was good but the service was awful. Servers were rude and not friendly at all.

Food good, unfortunately service is lacking. My sister and I decided to try this place for lunch today, we always love finding new spots to dine. As we walked in we were pleasantly surprised by the nice decor and cleaniness. Thats about the only thing that gave us "warm feelings" as we were greeted by the ambivalent server/hostess. She points to a table and says "go sit down I'll be with you in a few minutes". ok...we though this was rude but we would give her the benefit of the doubt, maybe this is more of a "please seat yourself" establishment. We sit down and take in our surroundings, we think this place must be good since the other diners were Vietnamese as well this is a good sign right? We wait a few minutes before our server approaches and tosses our menus on the table, we wonder "whats up with her?". Nevermind she comes again with 2 glasses of water without us asking so thats a plus. So on to the menu, there are lots to choose from Vietnamese, Chinese, Thai you name it they got it. But we were craving Vietnamese so we decided on the Spicey Beef Noodle soup and the Pork chop & spring roll vermicelli. Prices were just a little higher than what we're used to paying but it wasn't terribly high. Once she took our order we noticed a group of four people arrive and they were personally seated by our server. We thought well maybe they're royalty, or large tippers? This was irritating, evenmore our food took 25 minutes to come out, unacceptable since there were only 3 tables occupied at the moment. The table next to us ordered way after we did and got theirs first. On to the food, our dishes were large, you definitely can't complain about the portions. Everything looked fresh and appetizing, the vermicelli bowl was heaping with the perfect balance of noodles, meat and vegetables (as some places can overdo the meat portion). The springrolls were really good and crispy, the pork was ok (some pieces had an after taste), fish sauce was a little tangy but the dish was descent overall. The spicey beef noodle soup was ok, it has a little peanutty flavour and not really spicey at all. Broth was just a little bland we had to add a few extra condiments to get it to our liking, but there was plenty of fresh Thai basil and bean sprouts to add to the soup which is a plus showing they are not stingy. Overall, I don't think we would go back since we have a couple "go to" places for Vietnamese cuisine which are consistently delicious and the staff are courteous. Perhaps we would have gone back if the service was more pleasant, but good food with unpleasant service is not a combo worth returning for.

Delicious. Pho Kim Tuong has an excellent pho - the broth is very subtle yet tasty. The soup has thin noodles served with red and green onions, and the beef is tender and delicious. The basil, lime, lemon, chili peppers, and bean sprouts are served on the side. The bun is good, but I wouldn't opt for the deluxe next time simply because I don't like spam. But the chili chicken skewered with lemongrass is divine. Their pad thai is also excellent and massive. The vietnamese coffee is a must. The service here is excellent. They gave us extra broth for our leftover pho to take home, and we even didn't have to ask.

Such a great experience! Food was delicious and lots of vegetarian options. Portions were enormous. Iced coffee with sweetened condensed milk blew Starbucks out of the water. Try this place for the unique experience and fabulous food.

Best Pho establishment in town.. Yes, with the combination of good service (for a Vietnamese restaurant), a well rounded menu, and the second best pho broth in the city, Pho Kim Tuong is my favourite Pho Restaurant in town! Obviously the Pho that is served at this joint is fantastic, but some of their more obscure items on the menu is also very deserving of 5 star status. Like the Mango salad for example is very refreshing and is served as a large portion. Another one of my staple eats at Pho Kim Tuong would have to be the Honeydew bubble tea. It goes so well after a spicy meal. When you're in the mood for great Pho or Vietnamese food in general, Pho Kim Tuong is a must.

Will never return.. This place was so good when it first opened. I went here many times for the first 2 grand opening months then the food just got worst and worst. My favourite dish used to be the deluxe vermicelli but over time the grilled meat got really dry and tasteless. Nice deco inside though, service was ok, often slow.

The restaurant is really nice inside. They made it look very attractive, but the food is even better. Had their pho and combination platter and both dishes turned out very good and delicious. I would highly recommend this place.

Decided to try this place since phong nam was closed. Upon entering the place was full luckily there was one booth still available and the owener (I'm assuming since she was delegating) pointed it out and said she would be there in a minute. Well 10 mins went by and still no one came so I decided to go up and ask for a menus. A younger lady handed them to me and asked which table I was sitting at I told her and walked back. Once we decided on what we wanted to order we placed our menus at the edge of the table. No one came again and after 15 mins of waiting I went back up and told the owner I wanted to order and she said she'll come to our table. 8 mins later the younger lady came and apologized. We gave our order and the food came out very quickly. My boyfriend ordered r14 which came with large portions of meat and I ordered p19 pho sate. Both dishes were really good. The pho sate had the perfect amount of spice. Better than phong nam's pho sate. We had also ordered Vietnamese coffee which was also good but had to remind the waitress for it. All in all the food was excellent but the service was horrible. It was extremely busy and they were apologetic so I will give this place another chance.

Great value. Food is excellent and the interior of the restaurant is surprisingly nice given the exterior and neighbourhood. Small bowls of Pho are actually very large and if you get a small appetizer the small bowl of Pho will definitely fill you up. Service was lacking as it does at most asian restaurants. The staff was friendly though, but after the food came they never came back to check. No problem though, I just didnt tip, and I hope they dont expect me to. Will I be back? Definitely.

Overall Pho Kim Tuong is a tasty, authentic and pleasurable dining experience. In a city full of good Asian restaurants, Pho Kim Tuong deserves mention as one of the better Vietnamese restaurants. Flavourful and reasonably priced, this should be a consideration for anyone in the mood for Vietnamese.

On the downside, the soup did include more carrot slices and baby corn than I’m comfortable with, but other than that it was quite delicious and filling. Because I was fairly unsure of the carb load in this bowl of soup (given the carrots and corn and who knows what else…), I did a blood sugar test about an hour and 15 minutes after eating and was pleased to find it at a very comfortable 5.7 mmol/L. I’ll definitely revisit this soup.
