This restaurant doesn't have the easiest parking. The nearby street has construction that takes up the sidewalk. However at 7pm on a Thursday night street parking could be found. The delicious smells of the kitchen permeated the outside air as we made our way in. The desert display tempted us as we were seated. We were seated close to the window in not the largest table but it worked and the seats comfortable. Our wait staff did an excellent job. She helped us choose between the many tempting dishes. She brought us our items quickly. She was there when she could help and let us enjoy our meal. The escargots 5+/5 and the bread came first, along with the teas, loose leaf 5/5. The escargots arrived in a buttery sauce with mushrooms. I was very glad we ordered it. Our soups, French onion 5+/5 and the roasted squash 5/5 arrived next. The French onion soup was wonderful. The soup base was great and full flavoured. The cheese added a new dimension of flavour and texture. The croutons were meaty and wonderful. The squash soup had a good flavour and texture. Then the main dishes arrived. The Tuna was good but I have had better. The potato tasted old but was cooked okay. The zucchini was simply outstanding, I don't remember when I have had any nearly as good. The pieces of corn on the cob was also very good. We then shared a slice of cappuccino cheesecake. Super flavour, great texture and a great cheesecake. Can't wait to go back. If you haven't been here you really should go.

Lovely dining experience at this restaurant. Had eaten there a few times in the past and was happy to go back. We had loose-leaf tea to drink in a nice large container called a Brewt Tea Infuser - was a great way to serve a loose-leaf tea. We had escargots as an appetizer- excellent flavour with mushrooms and onions in a buttery sauce. Fresh bread was served at the beginning of the meal as well - they brought a few pieces from a baguette and a corn bread with flavoured whipped butter. We had the roasted squash soup and french onion soup - both were perfectly done. The french onion soup had a good amount of cheese on top. Our two entrees were the Arctic Char and marinated Tuna. The Arctic char had an interesting filling - stuffed with a lobster gruyère potato mousseline over a lemon verbena sauce. The Tuna was grilled with a maple soy marinade topped with strawberry, avocado mango salsa & unagi. Side grilled potatoes, zucchini and corn on the cob rounded out the mains. Loved the zucchini - best I've had in years. The entrance to the restaurant has a lovely display of the desserts available - 7 or 8 choices there. We decided on the Cappuccino cheesecake - one piece to share. Fantastic flavour. They had 2 flavors of creme brulée in the display. Will have to try one of them next time we go here. Centrally located in St. Boniface on Desmeurons - we found street parking across the street tonight.

Excellent food. Service was very good. Ambience is more of a low key family style as opposed to fancy, dressy date place. Nice variety of mains and specials. Was out of a few things the night I went. Moule and frites are very good. Calamari was done nicely, not oily, and lightly battered. Lamb shank was done perfectly although the sauce was a bit sweet for my personal taste. Desserts were both very good. They had a bout 8 to choose from and they all looked amazing. The creme brûlée had the perfect amount of carmalized sugar. Crispy and not overly thick.

If you want taste a different dishes with good wine, this is the place, is a lovely restaurant, exceptional client service, the only thing harder, was found one parking spot available near to the place.

Our favourite restaurant hands down. Love everything about it, the food is always great, I love the weekly changing feature menu. Great atmosphere and one of my favourite patios. We go or order take out from here at least once a month. The food is also very reasonably priced for what you are getting. The service is always great. Also get the Bavarian cream pie, you won’t regret it!

I love the food here. Good menu. Service was good. I need to eat here more often.

Originally had reservations for 14 with accessible seating. Eventually 19 of us showed up!! Our server Lindsey (with the great hair) accommodated us so well. Food was delicious. The Papa Mambo trio was unexpected treat! And what lovely ambiance on that patio

My hubby and I went for dinner and drinks for our anniversary recently...tbh I didn't feel particularly welcome walking onto their empty patio at 4:30 on a Tuesday... without a reservation. However the service afterwards as well as the appies, drinks and entrees made us change our initial impression! The staff were friendly and attentive...and the food was delicious! Oh and the cheesecake is to die for! The patio did fill up & they had some musical entertainment around 6:00. Overall a very enjoyable 1st time there... other than the wasps which were rather annoying but it's that time of year! I'd go back!!!

LOVE this place! The food was so good and the service was excellent. Love the courtyard/patio, the atmosphere, everything was top-notch.

Some of the best food I ever had, the waiter was spot on but very busy. A little pricey but the portion but the flavour and taste made up for it.

I was so disappointed with my meal and entire experience, my escargot was bitter and inedible, told waitress that, she apologized and with out offering anything else she said take calamari. it took hours to get service, water, drinks, food. Presentation was very sad, my escargot came in a bowl almost like a soup with a half piece of soggy toast in it, (what did they do with the other half of toast?). For the price we paid, very poor experience. Will never return.
Randy Reimer
A great meal. Attentive service with a cool jazzy vibe on the patio. A great time was had.

First time to Inferno's for me and I was extremely impressed from start to finish. We didn't have to ask our server "Carly K" for a single thing and the food was excellent. Carly had an intimate knowledge of every menu item as well as the daily specials that was remarkable, kudos to her. We had a very rare, exceptional dining experience that neither of us have had in a long time. Well done Inferno's!

Service was exceptional! Great food, beautiful patio.

Excellent duck confit sandwich at St Boniface location. You can ONLY get the food THERE ! Duck was soft. Cooked enough. The sweet sauce was yummy. Served on a multi- grain bun. Closed sandwich. I had fries with it. Generous portioning. Cozy surrouding. went there on a warm fall afternoon. Good server. Never regret coming there.

I love this place. They always have amazing dinner specials, so much so that in my 8+ visits, I think I ordered off the main menu only once. Beautiful presentation, friendly service, and ooooh so, so tasty everything. I take all visitors here when they come to town. The elk I had yesterday was absolutely fabulous.

The food is amazing and the music divine. I have never been disappointed.

The best dinner I've had in quite some time. The service was awesome and the environment with very pleasant. Can't wait to go again even though it's a little expensive.

Great service! Delicious meals! A party of over 30 all happy! Amazing! It’s hard to please every one, YET you did it!
Wendy Burdon
We dined with a party of 14. The service was fantastic. The drinks, appetizers, main course and desserts were amazing! We will definitely dine there again.

Thanks Juan, the Halibut was outstanding as well as the salad! David Lee and I enjoyed the dinner, thank you!

Had a sandwich out of a bag in France that tasted better than my croque here. If you’ve been to France avoid this restaurant like the plague
Great service! We were a large group and the waiter came back frequently. However, I found that the food was only “okay”. I did come with a large group so I was able to try a large selection of their food. I tried two different plates of muscles and I found both were overcooked as they were very chewy and dry. I also tried the fish which was also overcooked. I did enjoy the infernos pasta.

This place was ok. Food was good server was polite. Never been here before. Was a bit loud. Nothing wowed me. Bathrooms were clean. Food did take awhile to come out.

Love, love, love this place. Fantastic service, high quality French food with delightful twists. The moules et frites offered in several variations on the menu are fantastic, as are the outstanding and ever changing daily specials. House made desserts are also outstanding!

A beautiful patio with live entertainment make this a busy spot, but well worth it if you can get a seat!

***

Addition to review added May 5, 2018:
Had one of the best meals of my life yesterday. Ordered entirely from daily specials and didn’t regret it! Calamari with orange tzatziki to start was super tender and a generous portion size and the dipping sauce was beautifully balanced: brightly citrusy but just savory enough. Next came the outstanding cream of mushroom soup - a generous variety of crimini, enyoki and portobello mushrooms in a rich, delicious cream base. Probably the best cream of mushroom I’ve ever had! Next came pork ribs in a sauce that hit every flavour note: sweet, tart, savory and just a touch of smoky spice, tender but not falling apart: satisfyingly meaty. Finished with a gooey, caramel hazelnut dream with chocolate whip cream and shortbread crust that succeeded in being as decadent as it sounds without being overly sweet. It takes muscle to work through the dense caramel and substantive crust, but that entirely adds to the pleasure of eating this delight. Service was outstanding as always and the ambiance was as lively and pleasant as ever.

Had to change my original four rating to a five. Totally outstanding and unforgettable!

Went here for the first time with my husband. We had the crab cakes for the appetizer and it was very good and the mango chutney on top was super yummy. We shared the vegetable bouillabaisse soup and it was very flavourful. My husband had the duck entree and he said it’s the best duck he ever had. I had the halibut special and the fish was cooked perfectly. The only dislike was the root veggies could have been cooked a little longer. Service was great. The restaurant was packed and our server did a great job of making us feel attended to. Highly recommend for food and atmosphere.

The live music on the patio is the best back drop to a setting sun and delicious food. the portions are always generous and I love coming here a couple of times a year.

Cute little place in st boniface. Went for my for my boyfriends birthday the other night. Ordered the duck potstickers, the flavor of the potstickers themselves was great but we weren’t a fan of the orange sauce it came with. The clam chowder soup was delicious. He had the steak special which was incredible. And I had the salmon dish which was also great, only complaint was the salmon could have had more of the sauce because it was delicious! For dessert we had creme brûlée which was delicious. Service was great, a little slow but we were in no rush and our drinks didn’t stay empty for long. Can’t wait to come back soon!

My preferred location is the Inferno's on Academy however, this place has a slightly more french-centric menu and it's quite well designed. The food is mostly french with a modern twist, which breaths life into the age-old dishes and I have had numerous meals here, all excellent.

The location is in old St. B and the patio is lovely during the summer.
If you're looking for an enjoyable night out in old St. B, I would recommend getting a spot on the patio!

I had the infernos penne dish, pasta dishes are usually super overpriced for what they give you but I was quite impressed for what I got. It was an excellent cream sauce that had just a bit of kick to it. The penne was covered in parmesan, sautéed onions and peppers

I finally remembered to book a reservation and was so happy I did! A start to any good night is a good server and our waitress was fantastic. She was knowledgeable, polite and present (seems these experiences are getting fewer and far between)! Our appetizers were loved by all, I had the tuna with mango salsa as my main and it fulfilled cravings I didn't know I was craving. There was a large tempting dessert selection but I had hit my max at that point. Would strongly recommend going for any occasion.

Fantastic service but food was average. Had the filet mignon and ordered it medium well. It was not cooked evenly and was not cooked properly or long enough. Was too raw for my taste. Because our waitress was busy did not want to send it back. Was looking forward to the French onion soup. It was disappointing. Service was exceptional and our waitress was able to remember all the specials

Super over rated place, the menu is ridiculously small and for what they charge the food isn't that great. The sandwiches are quite good but this is supposed to be semi-fine dining. There's so many specials that you can't even order until the waiter/waitress comes around and says them, which is impressive how they can memorize all of it, but it's hard to remember the 8 or so specials after they've been recited. The service is really good and it's kind of a charming place but the food isn't up to par with what they're trying to be. I feel bad for the waiters/waitresses as the kitchen doesn't put out very good food, then when you get the bill the shock sets in and it affects their tip. After the last time I was there I said never again.

Amazing food, fantastic service. Everyone at our table was pleased with there meals, I had the steak and lobster special which was unbelievable. The steak done to perfection, melted in my mouth, the lobster fresh and a bit
sweet. The live music on the patio, made this meal a memorable one.

Wasn't overly impressed with the food but wasn't disappointed either for that reason I would say it's slightly over priced. Service was ok although it took around 45 minutes for the food to come out. Was an alright experience but probably won't be the first on the list to revisit.

Love moules et frites, so it was great having so many options. Restaurant is a little crowded and can get busy, but the patio is very cozy and gives you a little bit more space. It's also fairly enclosed and there's a lot of greenery and cute knick-knacks making it feel both fresh and fun. The service was great, and the food was a little pricey but very good. Though atypical, last time I went, my friend and I had one dead/closed mussel each in our bowls. I knew better but had to stop her from eating it. It should have been taken out prior to service. The broth (I chose a classic leek and cream type) was delicious, not gritty at all, and there was plenty to be had. The bread basket came at the same time as our meal, but it was nice to have some delicious artisinal breads to dunk in the broth. The fries needed salt, but the portion is generous which is great! I prefer even more of a shoestring fry with mussels, but they were good. Will be back.

Came here on a warm summer evening to sit on their cute patio. The atmosphere was perfect, a nice enclosed space with light live jazz playing in the background. We ordered some appetizers share; the Cambenzola Frit (so savory & tasty), the duck confit pot stickers, and the frog legs (Buffalo sauce was amazing on these). For dessert I got the Tarte Tatin (upside down Apple pie) which was served warm , and I got a scoop of their ice cream on top! It was really good, except the bourbon caramel sauce was too strong for me. If you like burbon though, you'll love it. Will be back more so for the patio than the food, but will definitely be back!

Went here for a staff party, a good group (around 40) of us had the whole upstairs to ourselves. Atmosphere was nice and the staff were very friendly for having to deal with such a big group at once. Food was great, would for sure go back again!!

Definitely one of my favourite restaurants when looking for a fancy night out, and it's especially wonderful in the summer if you can get a spot on the patio! I usually only go once a year because the prices are very high, but when I do go, I get a pitcher of Sangria, and my favourite dishes are the Flamande Mussels, Crab Cakes (have not found better crab cakes anywhere else in the city yet), the Le Bisque Grand Duc (soup) and the Steak Tartare. Next time I go I think I'll try the Roquefort Hot Legs (frog legs)! Oh, PS: Only order the Artic Char if you like REALLY rich flavours... it's a little too rich for my taste.

In Ferno's Bistro takes French cuisine and infuses it with modern cooking techniques and new flavours. The chef shows his range by having traditional items available on its main menu while giving customers a slew, albeit too large of one, of specials to keep anyone entertained. And while each item is on the pricier side, the flavours are well worth the price of admission.
Melody
Good food and fantastic service. Did find it a little pricey. Wished I had gotten the ribs because they smelled fantastic. The angel hair pasta dish was really good though. I find the restaurant a little crammed. They do however have a very nice patio for the summer! Definitely worth checking out

Everything was amazing from the moment my guest and I walked through the door we felt welcomed. Our server was amazing , informative, friendly and attentive. Food was an explosion of flavours and everything was cooked to perfection! Highly recommend!

It's been about a year since last visiting this restaurant. Visited on Saturday just before Christmas. Had the specials which all turned out to be Luke warm for 5 of us. Steaks were all under done. Soups were cold. Don't think we will be revisiting this location anytime soon. I will probably dissuade anybody wanting to dine there.

My husband and I went to Infernos for our wedding anniversary and it was delicious! I had been before, he had not. The food is always amazing and full of colour and flavour. The service wasn't over the top, but was far from terrible. Our server came in a quick manor and wasn't constantly at our table nor ignoring it! It's a small quaint place and lots of table, but I didn't feel cramped, however it was really loud, I might request I quieter area next time, but we still had an amazing evening, with great food! We will definitely go back! I suggest Infernos if you're looking for a laid back, trendy place for good food, good service and good conversation!

In Ferno's Bistro has been at the top of my list for many years and they have never disappointed me to this day. Great atmosphere but sometimes it can get loud with large groups. The smaller setting gives it a cozy more intimate feel and the food is always the highlight of my night.

First time experience. I went to In Fernos with my husband, brother in law and my younger son - this was on a busy Saturday night. When we got there, we waited by the dessert counter - my brother in law let someone know we had a reservation- we were not greeted at all.

We were at our table - a male server approached us saying "HOW ARE YOU GUYS DOING TONIGHT". I am not a guy - I find it unprofessional and not acceptable - he can say "HOW ARE YOU TONIGHT". I didn't correct him at any time. Throughout the evening, he kept referring to the 4 of us as GUYS (it was annoying). Also , when our entrees arrived, I was served about 5 minutes after the other 3 people at our table.

The food was decent - I could not eat the green beans that came with my entree - tough and no flavor. Everyone else enjoyed their food.

I would give this 7 out of 10 . I found the tables cramped and I didn't like the constant reference to me as a GUY.

Mussels with Curry. Amazing. Fries were crunchy.
Ate here and had to make adjustments to the sauces since I am currently going dairy free because of allergy issues. The chef was willing to change the cream to coconut milk so I could still order what I wanted.

Nice Restaurant. Good service. Interesting decor.
I had a filet mignon steak. Tender. Some flavour - could have been better. Definitely overcooked. I'll go elsewhere for a good steak.

Highly recommended!. Went there for my husband's birthday dinner. We had reservations for 7:30pm and even though when we got there, the place was obviously packed, we were seated almost immediately. Our server was very pleasant and very knowledgeable of the menu. The timing of when every course was served was perfect, we didn't feel rushed to finish what we were eating and at the same time we didn't wait long for the next course to come. The food was tasty and cooked perfectly. We'll go back for sure!

Gross. We went here for our anniversary dinner thinking it would be a nice romantic evening. We felt incredibly rushed the whole time; food came literally 10 mins after we ordered (how did they cook it that fast? must have been sitting there ready to go) and every time we finished something some waiter immediately rushed to get our plate and looked disdainfully at the person still eating like we should hurry up. We aren't slow eaters by any means, so this was kind of weird. The servers were very aloof and read through the 18 specials quickly so we had no idea what they were. But the service was the best part compared to the food. My boyfriend got the steak medallions, he asked for well done and there was blood on the plate. This dish was $25 and was definitely not worth that as the steak was just a few bites. It came with two small baby potatoes and overcooked broccoli drenched in sauce. I had the butternut squash ravioli which more resembled soup it was so overcooked. It really didn't have any flavour except a ton of salt. The restaurant was very cramped, we were in a corner upstairs that had three tables crammed into it. It seems this place is all about getting people in and out quick and making as much money possible without really focusing on what is important; the food.

Amazing!. I'm in town for business and our host suggested In Ferno's for lunch. I'm glad he did! I had the salmon crepe lunch special, with a side salad drizzled with orange basil dressing. To die for! My lunch companions were raving about the food. Such a unique little place, with great service to boot. Everyone who works here has an obvious love for food and it really shows.

I hope we can come back for dinner--I'd gladly have that crepe again!

Never Disappoints. Inferno is great anytime of the year. A warm place for comfort food in winter. A cool place for summer. In spring the lilacs are in bloom on the patio. In fall the apples are falling from the tree. Lots of parking available. What more could you ask for. Open all day and into the evening. Always a varied and delicious menu.

SwizzleStyx. The Styx had lunch here last Thursday afternoon, it was a gorgeous sunny day and we had a lovely table on the beautiful outdoor patio. We decided to dine on appetizers of oysters, crab cakes, prawns, a trio of pate, and some french fries and all were delicious. The prawns were perfect, all of the pates were great, and the crab cakes in a mango salsa were outstanding. Even the complimentary bread basket is one of the best in the city with a fresh assortment of breads. We have been here many times and we will definitely be back!

August 2017 - the Swizzle Styx dined here again this week and as always it was excellent. Food was outstanding and service on spot. Always a great experience here!
Excellent food and service. My family decided to try this bistro out and were pleasantly surprised with the food , the bison was just wonderfull , the waiter was young and very professional , I would definitely go back !!!!

Amazing Food. Nice little restaurant in St. Boniface. The outdoor patio is awesome with great service. Our server recommended some dishes and she did not disappoint. We had the peppercorn mussels and fries which were very good. The duck sandwich was awesome, a little messy to eat but still good. I would definitely recommend eating here.

How about No?. I came with my two best friends last night for one friend's birthday dinner. Saturdays are usually busy at most eateries. Inferno's has far too many tables for it's own good. I like fun as much as the next person, and lively atmospheres in restaurants, but I've never been to a place that is so ridiculously loud that it's not relaxing or enjoyable.it took us over an hour and a half to get our meals. I wonder if my particular dish was one that took so long to make. the milles feuilles aubergine torte was an incredible disappointment. it looked and tasted burnt, and appeared like someone just threw it on a plate in a fit of fury because I ordered it! I thought - is this just me or does it taste off?. my friend *who had the delicious bison in a cherry something or other sauce - it was a special and not on the menu* tried it and said - it's not good! the waitress came back and asked if I'd like something else. I was ravenous by this time *why would we order appetizers if we thought we'd be getting our entrees relatively quickly - half an hour I could see - but REALLY - an hour and a half? -ok I'm digressing. so I vaguely remembered the prawns in pernod sauce with leek tempura, and thought THAT would hit the spot. !four little prawns and some very strawlike fried leek matchstick tempura that was absolutely a non match for this dish. granted the pernod sauce was nice - but i was still hungry *this MUST have been an appetizer - so that was my fault for not asking to see the menu.* my other friend ordered the lamb and mushroom paparedelle - and said that the tzatziki element did not seem to go with the rest of the flavors. My family and I had come to Inferno's several years ago for my birthday, and while it was a nice evening, it was nothing particularily outstanding. Chef Fern: perhaps less tables and more kitchen staff will make for happier diners,if you really love - as you once told me personally, what you do. I will never return, neither will my friends. ultimately a most disappointing dining experience. there are far better restaurants in the city like Segovia, Deer and Almond, Tre Visi, which are absolutely pleasures to visit and dine at.

Louder than the Marion on a Saturday night !!!. My husband and I decided to try the bistro tonight as recommended by our son. We sat inside and they were four tables with dinners we sat across from a couple the waitress came over and asked if we wanted to start with drinks we both choose ice tea when she went to get them we noticed a table getting loud it was a stagette of fourteen. Well it went from Bad to I can't believe people act like this in public. The waitress had to yell the specials to us this was the worst dinning experience I've had one hundred and fourth five dollars to listen to horrible loud getting drunk so called women the management did absolutely nothing his response to me was well it's a stagette we can't control it ( really ) what he should have said is look lady your bill is $145 and that table will be close to $1000.00 so who cares !!!!! The other tables were also upset over the screaming we would have been better off at the Dairy Whip !!!!!! The service from the waitress and the bus boy filling the water glasses was Great the food was also pretty good but the response I received from the manager was the reason for this review don't go if there is a large party of noisy dinners because you and your spouse will not matter it's all about how big your bill will be $$$$$$$$

One my favourites. I've been to Inferno's Bistro a handful of times and have never had a bad experience.
Two meals stand out: First, we sat in the tiki hut on the patio (which is lovely, by the way) and I had Poulet à la Façon du Chef (Chicken stuffed with lingon berries and cambenzola) and a few appetizers (Lobster potstickers and bison springrolls). The entire meal was delicious and service was great.

Second meal was at large birthday party I attended. We sat in the upstairs area, which is nice too. I had the thai beef salad. This one was reallllly good for the price, as I expected it to be a lot smaller but it's extremely big and filling. The beef was cooked perfectly.

Definitely recommend this restaurant for anyone wanting to dine in the St. Boniface area!

Not what we expected. We went for dinner after hearing some great things from this restaurant. Unfortunately we were very disappointed. Ordered several drinks and appetizers. Beer was not cold and drinks not very tasty. Appetizers took quite awhile and again cold. Main course took forever, had very small portions, greasy fries (overly greased) and again cold platters. We were so disappointed after having a recommendation to go there for supper that we will not be returning.

Great food. I like to come here with friends for drinks and dinner, as the food is always good with a great atmosphere. The chicken penne is even better the next day!

Good variety and great taste.. Finally made it to Inferno's and we were not disappointed. Took mom here for the Day After Mother's Day Dinner. The dining room was small and about 3/4 full. A couple of groups were seated ahead of us but our waitress saw that we were quick in making our selections so we got served much quicker. Wine was served promptly, a small basket of various breads was served shortly therafter. We each ordered an appetizer at the same time we ordered our entrees. We passed on the 8 or so specials read to us from a notepad(As a previous review stated, no need for that many "specials."). Appetizers: Escargot, Crab Cakes and Fried Cambenzola were all good. Entrees: Lamb Shank: The waitress said this would taste "meaty." Compared to the other samplings we tasted, she was 100% correct. I enjoyed it. Dad loved the Arctic Char and mom enjoyed the veal. The vegetable offerings were nothing special but were okay. I thought the house white wine was a bit pricey, but not a major factor in our dining experience. Overall, we had a good experience. Good service, good wine and good meals across the entire table. $192 with 15% tip. I wouldn't make this a regular stop but would definitely give it another go. It's not for everybody, but give it a shot.

What happened?? Used to be so good, now not so much.. I've been going here for quite a few years now (7/8 years), and what used to be a little gem, has turned awful. To start with the service was awful, waiting 12 minutes even for a drink order, they clearly need more staff for how busy it is. We started with the garlic mussels, which were rubbery. Our wine and bread didn't come till after the appetizer as well. My dining partner had the halibut which he said was nothing special (Cannot comment on it), and I had one of the 8 "specials".....which 8 specials...aren't really specials...anyways. The half duck was doused in only what I can compare to terriyaki sauce mixed with the duck a l'orange sauce and sugar. I will say the duck itself was cooked perfect. The potatoes had sauce, the vegetables had sauce, and the odd unidentifiable vegetable was the only thing that didn't have sauce. We finished with an espresso which was pretty low quality. This place has definitely gone down hill in the past years.

Fusion. Good food but not worth the headache. Okay...too be fair. The chef here knows what he is doing. The food is wonderful. Daily specials need to be shortened down to 2 or three instead of 8 or 9 (my memory is short when I'm hungry). Second. This place gets VERY busy at dinner service. This restaurant becomes incredibly noisy to the point where it can become to difficult to listen to dinner guests. Also...forget privacy. Tables and chairs are crammed in to dinning area to maximize patron numbers. While the food is good, I can go to other good restaurants that are a little bit more comfortable.

Went for the first time with a group of 8 on a Friday night and it was a great night out. Our waitress was fantastic! Food was excellent, loved the atmosphere. On our list of favorites and going back for a birthday dinner. The halibut was the best I have ever had dining out!

10 pm only for dessert!!. Can't believe this place won't let you in for some drinks and food to eat except for dessert after 10 pm. Very disappointing! Won't recommend this place!

We like it. We come here a lot. They are so accommodating with dietary restrictions (gluten free, dairy free etc.). Be sure the ask for the g.f. menu if you need it. Really good ribs, fish dishes and sandwiches. Little pricey so we come for special occasions. Best to make reservations anytime you plan to eat here.

Awesome Valentine's dinner :). My boyfriend and I went here on Valentine's day for dinner. He had made reservations ahead of time and they called him the day before just to confirm, which I thought was a good idea on their part to avoid no shows. Holy man was the food delicious. It was a four course meal, I had the lobster pot stickers, tomato bisque, filet mignon with lobster and the strawberry Bavarian cream pie. The sauce on the lobster pot stickers was a bit too spicy for me, but that's just a preference thing I guess, the boyfriend really liked them. Everything else I had was excellent and cooked perfectly, especially the lobster, and the tomato bisque and the pie, I just really enjoyed everything lol. The boyfriend had tempura lamb, Caesar salad, rack of lamb and the chocolate torte. He was equally as impressed as I was. We tried everything from each other's plates and I really likes his lamb tempura, which I ate most of and he ate most of my pot stickers, which worked out just fine for us. My filet mignon could have had some sort of sauce on or under it to add a bit of flavour but it was cooked perfectly and had amazing texture. We will definitely be returning once we can afford it again as it is very expensive, but worth it.

Consistently Excellent. This is always on my list of favorite restaurants in Winnipeg. If out-of-town visitors are in, I always recommend trying Infernos. If I'm going to meet someone or going out for lunch or dinner, I always consider this place as a possibility.
Every time I visit the service is top-notch- friendly, informative, and intuitive. The food is always good and a good value for the quality and freshness of the food. There's always that french feeling of simple and regional, but high quality dishes served as deliciously as possible. I love their mussels section on the menu.
I don't like going to the same places over and over again, but it doesn't feel that way when I visit Inferno's because the menu is always changing- there's always a new list of specials so it's always a fresh experience.
And they have a fun cocktail menu.

I always think of this restaurant as a 5 star restaurant for 3 star prices, definitely try this one if you haven't been yet!

A Traveller's Review. If you want French food and great desserts, you need to check this place out. The food in this restaurant are amazing! You might want to reserve a table when coming to this place because it can get packed really quickly, especially during dinner time. The entire atmosphere in the restaurant creates such a home type feeling that you might not want to leave...

Disappointed. My sons 18th Birthday we took seven people, waited an hour and a half for dinner. We ordered our steaks rare, medium, or medium rare, and well. Steaks were received cold and not to the request. So disappointed usually a safe restaurant! The worst experience I ve had in a restaurant in a long time. Oh yeah, the management didn't care. Apathy doth reign.

Lunch Jan 14th, 2014. I had lunch with my 2 sisters at In Ferno's Bistro. It was the worst meal I have had in a resturant in a very long time. My sisters had the specials, an Omlet and the other had the crepe. They were both made with left-overs, awfull. I had the white fish dish. The fish was so small you could hardly see it, which was fortunate as it tasted old and oily. The soup was good, the bread was stale. The mini desserts were good.
Very disappointed, previously alwayls enjoyed my meal there.

As a fairly frequent flyer of Inferno's there are several reasons why I keep coming back. Staff is always attentive and bends over backwards to provide a positive experience. Prices are very reasonable. The dinner specials are outstanding and there are always plenty to choose from. Terrific wine list. Despite many people being packed into a rather small space, the noise levels never rise to the point where I must raise my voice to be heard. They can handle a larger party seamlessly.

One night when friends and I arrived having a reservation, the previous party at our table were yet to leave and they continued to linger. Although we said nothing to the staff, they brought us complimentary lobster pot stickers to munch on while we waited and apologized, although it really didn't take all that long.

On another occasion it was a very busy night, and the staff had an unexpected party of six walk in. Since we'd just gotten there and our food had not arrived yet, they asked if we could move to another table just a couple steps away so they would be able to move some tables to make room for the larger party. We said no problem. They gave us a free round of drinks for those two steps.

Highly recommended.

Always Wonderful. I would definitely have to say this is one of my favourite restaurants in Winnipeg. Whether I'm on a date with someone special or dining out with friends, it's always been a great experience.

I'll review my most recent experience here: as a special treat, my boyfriend made reservations for last Tuesday, right after I finished my last final exam of the semester. Upon arrival, we were greeted and then promptly seated. The interior is very cozy and tastefully decorated. Water arrived quickly, and shortly after that our server greeted us and went over their specials. There are usually several, and the server lists them by price. The severs are very kind about reviewing the specials if you ask them to, since it can be a lot of information at once. The server left to give us some time to make a decision. My boyfriend and I went over the wine menu to select an option. They had a wine feature/special that night that also included the option of a flight (3 different kinds of wine; all from the same producer, 2 of the same variety from different years and 1 of a different variety...I can't remember what they were), but we opted for something from their regular wine menu, which has an excellent selection of different varieties and prices. Once she returned I ordered their halibut special, the duck pot stickers and a half litre of Hob Nob pinot noir and my boyfriend ordered the rib special.

After our order was taken, bread was delivered and then our wine. An assortment of soft, warm bread was served with soft/whipped butter. My boyfriend and I also enjoyed the wine. Next, our duck pot stickers arrived. They are served with orange, basil and chili sauce. I really, really liked the orange sauce served on top of them.

The amount of time between our appetizer and entree was perfect; just enough time that we had a chance to let our stomachs settle with our bread and appetizer, but not so long that we started wondering where our meals were.

Both our meals were plated quite nicely, with very attractive placement and garnishing. My halibut was very lightly battered, with (if I recall correctly) ginger on top, served with braised red cabbage and something similar to mashed potatoes (I can't recall exactly what it was). I was not planning on writing a review about this meal so I did not make a point to remember all the details, but what I do remember was that it was all VERY good. My boyfriend's ribs were very tender, juicy and with a lot of flavour. He mentioned that he enjoyed the fact they had so much flavour without having to be drenched in any sort of sauce.

At the end of our meal, we were both way too full to have dessert. However, in the past when I have dined here, there has always been an excellent selection, and I've never been disappointed.

I am always happy with food, service and ambiance at Inferno's Bistro, and last Tuesday was no exception. It was an excellent way to celebrate getting through an extremely stressful exam period. It's always nice in the winter, being cozy with a special date in soft candle light, or outside on the patio in the summer with friends and a bottle of wine. I am sure to be back again in the near future and quite enthusiastically recommend this restaurant to friends.

Great potential. I went a few years ago and remembered a really great meal. This time around, I went with a friend and we went for an entree, a muscle dish, and their oysters appetizer.

The restaurant itself is still as classy looking as ever, and the colors were just so relaxing. The waitress was nice, but nothing especially endearing to us. The way she described the daily special (ribs) with a "wet and sticky special sauce" had us grinning.

For the appetizer, we ordered the oysters on the half shell. It was a more expensive price point but we figured it'd be a great splurge. The oysters came 6 to the plate. They were in a wine/vinegar pickling sauce which was sickly sweet and we found pieces of shell had broken off during shucking in most of them and we had to spit out pieces as we ate. We had that before on the coast but this was excessive.

The muscles dish was quite nice, well cooked with a nice simple cream sauce.

The entree we ordered came with a really nice soup and we really enjoyed that. The dish itself was excessively sweet (which we found odd, since the oysters were, too) and quite messy. Instead of any form of arrangement or stacking, we were given a dish that was quite literally piles of food. (though, the portions were quite nice!)

All in all the ingredients, portions and such were good. The flavour could be there, but we felt it was just put together without love or attention to detail. At the price point our bill was, we'll be looking for a different alternative next time.

I'll go back, but it might be a couple years again.

Poor service. I was recently at infernos which was one of my favourite restaurants, I always tell my friends about the good food, but my last visit wasn't very impressive, I ordered the fish soup of the day and so did my friends and we all found bones in the soup, I understand one bone being an accident but not all 3 of us. Then I had the duck salad and had a large bone in that!! I pushed it aside waiting for the server to return but she didn't come back for 15 mins so I ate around it. When I brought it to her attention that we all had bones in the soup and in my salad she said oh ya that's just part of the risk when u eat fish! And walked away, then the manager had the same care less attitude he said that's part of nature and it's our policy about bones in the food! I couldn't believe them not apology even! After I said that is dangerous you can choke on fish bones there shouldn't be bones in any soup, they removed the soups off the bill! I hope the owner sees this and corrects the staff and that ridiculous policy

I love this restaurant! I brought my boyfriend here for his birthday and it was perfect! Great service, great food, cool patio. Our favorite was the squash ravioli. I still crave it!! They always have multiple specials and tons of dessert! Thumbs up!!

I love their food. My boyfriend likes their buffalo frog legs.
Outandabout
Great little place to dine!. The food has been somewhat inconsistent in our experience, but overall a great little place to dine. Love the location, atmosphere, and interesting menu items. Great service, good food, would recommend. Definitely a Winnipeg restaurant staple.

We eat here often!. Perfect place for an evening date! We love eating here and trying the different menu items.

One of the best places in Winnipeg for mussels (our favorite!)

The atmosphere at the St. Boniface location is beautiful and classic. When we went there was a live band on the patio playing soft, romantic music.

Also a great place to bring out-of-town guests.

One of my favorite places. I've had both lunch and dinner at Inferno's, and every time,it was great. I have never been disappointed. The food is fresh, tasty, and well presented. There are so many specials, the menu changes constantly. In fact, I have never ordered from the regular menu because the specials are just so enticing.
Love it!

Sooooo good. We went last week for our anniversary. We started with calimari, and I had the bison medallions in sour cherry sauce, and my wife had the haddock. We were both very impressed with our dinner. For dessert we had to order the blueberry topped pie even though we were full, but it was worth it.
Will be back for sure!
Lo-Lo
NOT SURE ANY MORE.. SO INCONSISTENT !. We have been three times in the past year - twice for lunch and once for dinner. The food is exquisite; fresh, original, well portioned and elegantly presented. The pasta I ordered had so many wonderful ingredients and everything was perfect. The desserts are out of this world. Everything is made in house. We were there the other day for a late lunch on their beautiful main level patio. The staff / servers are extremely knowledgable about the menu items and the specials at lunch all sounded so delicious. I had the pan seared halibut, which came with a fresh carrot/daikon salad, whipped potatoes, sauteed zuchinni and of course a great soup. Enjoyed every last bite -- no room for dessert. My husband had the flank steak and prawns. He enjoyed the flavours as well, BUT his flank was clearly overdone - actually it was medium-well. Anyway. We will continue to go back here cause we love most everything about it !!

UPDATE: NOV. 30/13 - three of us went for lunch. I had made reservations about 3 weeks prior. They had no record of my reservations. Restaurant was fairly empty, but we stood at the front waiting to be seated for about 10 minutes. Finally someone came and took us upstairs. We were seated and our server didn't come over for over 15 minutes. There was one other table upstairs of about 6 which was occupied. Another 15 minutes to get three drinks. Our server was unprofessional and sloppy. About 30 minutes after being seated we were given some bread and then our order was taken. The server knew nothing about the menu other than what she liked and what she had eaten so far. At the end of it all, none of us really enjoyed the food. My husband order some stuffed pork, and his portion was incredibly small for the price - apparently it came with a demi glace but he was hard pressed to find any on the plate. I had a pasta dish, which I have had before and it was good, but today it was tastless and mushy. The other party in our group had some morrocan chicken crepe and it was dry and falling apart. The side salad was probably a half of cup of greens. Overall, the service sucked and the food left something to be desired. Now I don`t think we will be back.

CREPE DISAPPOINTING. Had lunch today & ordered one of the specials - broccoli, ham, blue cheese, brie crepe. I stil have an unpleasant after taste from overcooked, bitter broccoli. Couldn't detect any particular cheese flavour. Crepe was dry, it was somewhat tasteless & barely warm. I should have sent it back but didn't want to hold up our lunch. Both my friends meals were excellent. I have eaten here numerous times & it has been one of my favorite restaurants. DO NOT ORDER THIS CREPE. I reported this to the apparent manager when he brought our bill & asked how our meals were - all he said was "I will tell the cook." So - I will tell Winnipeg DON"T ORDER THE CREPE!

Great Lunch and Service. We went for lunch at 2pm on Sat. Aug. 10 and had a great time as it was nice and quiet. The server was fantastic as she was attentive and served the food while it was piping hot from the kitchen. We shared the Salade aux Pommes Vertes et Fromage Bleu which I highly recommend as it was wonderful with lots of apple and blue cheese, great combination of flavours. I had the BBQ Chicken Capicola, which was moist and a very large portion. My partner had the steak sandwich which was a large portion but as it was a steak sandwich, the cut of meat is not as tender as the entre item.

I highly recommend this place for lunch especially during off lunch hours as I believe the meals and service is much better than when it is busy. We had a very romantic time with great food and service.

Bistro Bliss!. Tina had just arrived in Winnipeg and after hearing lots of good vibes about this place, Gus had it picked out for a welcome dinner. We made a reservation on the patio and were seated next to a delightful little fake waterfall. Our server, Nick, was friendly, timely and knowledgeable. After browsing the menu and hearing all the specials, we were dizzy with all the choices! We settled on some lobster potstickers and haddock/crabcakes for a starter to be followed up by their artic char and salmon. The wait was a little long, but worth it. The evening just melted away in our dishes, each other’s company and then into a piece of chocolate caramel pie. It was a great way to spend an evening with great food and great company!

See you back there to try the lamb- we hear it is delicious!

~ Gus N’ Tina

Love it!. Infernos is a delight! I have thoroughly enjoyed everything I've ordered there. At the top of my list: the mussells (of course!), lobster potstickers, butternut squash ravioli (be sure to add the optional lamb!), crab cakes, any of the chef's specials that include shrimp, the salmon foccacia.....my list could go on & on. Service can leave you feeling a bit puzzled---I've had some terrific servers and I've also had some servers who were inattentive and frankly, snobby. The atmosphere depends on your mood--the restaurant is quite cramped, hence noisy, so we generally reserve a table upstairs where there seems to be a little bit more room (not much, but a little bit!). The patio is quaint. All in all, when money isn't a problem, it's a great place to go for a nice glass of wine and some shared appetizers.
Amanda
Amazing food, inattentive servers. Recently visited Inferos for a family member's birthday, who often raved about the food. I have to admit it didn't disappoint! Everyone at the table ordered something different, and were pleased with the variety of flavours to please our palate. We enjoyed the soup (le Billy-Bi Mussels), and for entrees on their regular menu, the Veau au Grandmere and the Saumon Champagne. The daily specials were lobster potstickers, and half a thai-glazed duck which were also both delicious.

Unfortunately, the service we received was poor. The waiter seemed irate whenever we were able to get his attention (which was rare, he was often not around to be found). We enjoy a leisurely meal, but we had trouble getting our plates cleared, ordering dessert, and paying our bill because we could not get our waiter. It was a busy evening, and while the other tables around us were waited on, we had trouble catching anyone's eye.

I'm torn on whether to visit again, because I enjoyed the food so much, but did not feel valued as a customer due to the absence of the servers.

Disappointing Birthday Dinner. As a birthday present my boyfriend decided to take me to the"best restaurants" in Winnipeg each night for my birthday week. Since it had such great reviews I was excited for my first birthday dinner. The Patio was too crowded for our liking, so we chose to sit inside as the atmosphere/decor is part of the fun. Well the decor left much to be desired and I didnt feel like I was anywhere special.. I hoped the food would make up for it, but it was just bad. We both didn't enjoy our meals. I had the duck l'orange and he had the beef medallions. Both our sauces were far* too overpowering for the well cooked meat ( I scraped my sauce off ). His sauce didn't taste like the peppercorn sauce described, but of pure alcohol and had a tad rancid flavour. The mash potatoes flavour was nice, but they were hard and stale like they were prepared a day or two in advance and just reheated. The vegetables with another sauce I didn't like over them didn't save the meal. Hope we have a better experience at other Winnipeg restaurants.

Excellent service, excellent food.. We made reservations and were taken immediately upon arrival for our table. The service was excellent, our glasses were never low on anything! The food was beyond tasty and for a good price we left very full!

OBSESSED.. Everyone I have ever taken to this place falls in love immediately. All the appetizers are brilliant and the duck confit is TO DIE FOR! If I could go every day, I would.

Delicious Evening. The food here was amazing! We had bison springrolls and three types of house made bread to start. We asked for another basket of bread because it was so tasty. For my entree, I had lamb which was prefectly cooked. For dessert, we enjoyed chocolate cheesecake which was a wonderful end to the meal. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.

April 10-13. Awesome - food choices, food, & service
Plan to go back & use the patio soon, I hope

The bison spring rolls with sweet chili sauce were delicious. The bread was fresh, tasteful & was a perfect addition to the cognac mushroom soup. I indulged in the braised "half a duck" with mixed greens, roasted potato`s and crunchy eggplant. To seal the deal I polished off their Cappuccino Chocolate Cheese Cake. Had a half a litre of Peller Estates Chardonnay. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to friend's & family.

Comfy, Well prepared menu. I went with a bunch, We tried various things off of each others plates.
It was all good, Muscles, Fries, Desserts, Steak... All extremely well prepared.
Have to cover my eyes when entering to avoid looking at the desserts!
I'll be back!

I went there today for my birthday. We didn't make a reservation but it was quiet due to the weather so we were seated right away. The food was amazing but the service from our waitress was quite bad. When she first approached us I notices she was a little cold and spoke with her chin raised away from us. I thought it was possible because this is a fancier resteraunt (and this was my first time here) that this may just be the tone of the resteraunt...until I saw her interacting with another larger table quite well. We had the pick up sticks which were delicious and very filling. The chicken and the beef were both flavorful and juicy. The presentation was beautiful! For dinner I had the duck which was fantastic and my partner had the BBQ chicken sandwich wich was "the best sandwich ever." We had to wait an incredible amount of time to have our plates taken away. We wanted to order dessert but since our waitress did not come to offer the dessert menu or remove our dinner we had to look up our choices online on our IPhone. Twice I considered going downstairs to find some service. When she finally came we asked for our dessert to go along with the rest of our meal since we didn't make a dent in our plates. The dinner was boxed and brought back to us but we had to pick up the dessert ourselves. The staff we delt with for the dessert were wonderfully friendly. Other lemon hazelnut tort was amazing. Very flavorful. My last complaint is that even though the resteraunt was very quiet they placed a table of 4 right next to us so instead of a nice intimate dinner we could barley hear each other. It would of been nice to have been spaced out a little better. This is one of the reasons we didn't eat our dessert in. It was not a comfortable atmosphere. The food was good enough for me to return despite the service but if it were based on service alone I would not come back.

Went here for my wifes birthday. Food was excellent. Service was amazing. Atmosphere was perfect. Really like bistros and this one is close and intimate.

Mmmmmmm. Always heard good things about Infernos and finally tried it out for a friends birthday. With the large party we had the food came quick and server was always there. Recommend the Pork Chop. Comes with a spicy bbq sauce, couldn't get enough. The sides though weren't too good, potatoes tasted dry and blan.
I would definitely go back other items on their menu looks good.

I haven't been here for a couple of years, but past meals I've had were delicious. Having a glass of wine, trying different "moules et frites" (mussels and handmade fries) and a lovely dessert was my idea of a great time. The decor was interesting and modern
Lovefood2192
Very impressed!! Great atomsphere!!. I went with my girlfriend for an anniversary and i was pleasant surprised by the level of service and the quality of the food. Had a roasted duck dish and it was fantastic. Excellent flavors and the meat would melt in your mouth. The food came out in the timely manner and the sever was very friendly. Will be heading back most definitely. Make sure however that you make a reservation in advance because we showed up without one and we were lucky to get a table.

Great food. Great French food and very attentive service. I really like the lamb shank. It is usually very busy and can be loud. Recommended.
Cup Of Tea
The service was spot on as my wine glass was always full and The server was helpful and checked on us every so often (amount you'd would expect to make for a great experience) I don't know why some reviews say this is expensive. We had an app and both entrees came with a soup or salad...
The food presentation was very nice and everything tasted great. We had 1/2 liter of house wine...our entres: Bison medallions wrapped in bacon with potatoes, veggies and golden beats. Second plate was the elk with the same sides. All looked and tasted amazing All for under $100. Very good experience and I will be returning.

Update: summer 2016

3 years Still my go to for entertaining out of towners.

That should say something.

Delicious. Consistent. Lots of choice. Lots of favourites.

Okay, not for me. It was okay. Not really worth all the fuss though and way too expensive. The ribs were really good though but ribs always are.

Will go back. We dined at the Inferno last night and found the food very good, though the service was mixed. We had a drink while waiting for our table, and when our table the hostess/waitress came to get us but did not take our drinks. We had winter coats, purses and drinks, plus a carafe and a bottle and we had to ask her to take the carafe, which she did, but was not very cordial about it. Our waitress at the dinner table was good and attentive, and the food was very good. Good presentation, flavor and ingredients, although some of my salad greens were browned. It was very noisy and very warm and no place to put coats. A few coat racks or hooks on the wall would be helpful. I would probably go back for the food, even though I found the place too warm, noisy and crowded.

Oh my goodness!!!. Wow. I had seriously high expectations for this restaurant and they managed to exceed them.

We made a reservation for a Friday night, and thank goodness we did. It was packed! It took a while for our server to come say hello, but we weren't in a hurry and it was very busy. They had the most incredible and interesting sounding specials i think I have ever heard. My husband chose the Bacon Wrapped Bison Tenderloin with blue cheese and sour cherry sauce. He loved it. I'm usually not a fan of bison, but i had a bit and it was truly amazing. I opted for the veal on the regular menu and was very impressed.

Great food, great atmosphere and great service. I can't wait to go back!
Foodpornaddict
This is the place. They have a lot of daily specials not on menu that i usually choose from but everything on their menu is good. Always a hit with whatever i order. They have a steak sandwich for $12. You cannot go wrong. Nice place but could get crowded so not very intimate.

Terrible!!! Being a French chef, working in some pretty amazing French kitchens around the country. I would have to say my experience was below standard! French food is beautiful and simple. The food brought to my table looked like something a 6th grade home ec student would make.
Gamergrl888
Bring your own take-out containers. Had the lamb. Always good.
After eating apps and salad, I could not finish my meal. Waitress came around, asked my partner if he was finished and he stated he was, and he then asked if she could put our food in to- go containers.
She came back with just his!!!! My 3/4 full plate of food had been thrown in the garbage. I asked her 'where is my food?' and she looked at me, I stated 'you threw it out didn't you?', she said yes and apologized but that didn't make it any better. She stated she didn't know I wanted to take mine home!!!! Why would I throw away a partially eaten 25$ plate of food????? And why would she think that she should only come back with my partner's lamb shank, and not my almost full plate????
There is no excuse for this what-so-ever! I was a waitress, and know that if you aren't sure of what the customer wants done with their food, you can go back and politely inquire. Had she listened the first time, or came back a second time, she wouldn't be able to say that she 'didn't know that I wanted to take it home'.
On the upside, she did send the manager,( I was clearly pissed), and he did offer to make another complete meal for me, ( i declined because i just wanted to get out of there and didn't want to wait anymore). He did take my meal off the bill and was extremely professional.
This is number 2 of my service complaints.
More to follow.....
Brad
Wonderful menu and specials and the food is quite good. The atmosphere and staff are also worth the visit. A Winnipeg gem for sure

Tres Bien!!!. Sorry for my horrible french. I have had several great meals here and always recommend it to my family and friends. Also a perfect quiet place for a date night. My favourite dishes are the lamb shank and the duck. I wish I could remember their fancy names. Service is what you'd expect at an upscale restaurant. I can't wait to go back.

Frustrated and Disappointed. My most recent experience at Inferno's was beyond disappointing. I used to rave about this place and frequented with my boyfriend. That is no longer the case. I strongly advise against Inferno's now :(

I had recently brought a few friends to Inferno's to show them how delicious and reasonably priced the food was. They definitely proved me wrong. Our reservations were for 6 pm, and we were seated promptly. Our server took our drink orders, and when she arrived with them a few minutes later took our orders for appetizers and entrees. Our appy's came in a reasonable amount of time, but after that our dinners did not arrive for an hour! We ended up eating our meals at 7:30 pm. Not acceptable! And beyond that, most of our dishes were cold. I had the beef medallions and had asked that they be cooked medium. When I cut my cold beef, it was near rare. And when I chewed it, it was so grisly and stringy I could only eat one. I even had my boyfriend try it (since I am a picky eater) and even he refused to finish his mouthfull. Also, all of our twice-baked potato's tasted like day-olds. By the time we were done at 8 o'clock, I was so infuriated that I did not say anything, as the server would have known about the tardiness of our meals since she took the order and brought us our food. I decided it would be best to call the manager when I got home.

When I called at 8:30 that night, I was surprised to be told that the manager had left already! Let's keep in mind this was a Saturday night, and I figure any restaurant worth it's salt should have a manager on until 9 or 10. So then I called the following Monday and the manager said that he would talk to the other manager (as he was new) and would get him to call me. So I waited. I called back on Saturday afternoon, and the manager was surprised to hear that I had not heard back. He said he would call the other manager and make sure he was aware to call me. Still no call for a few days. So, I called back the following Tuesday and the manager finally talked to me but all he did was give me an earfull of excuses!

He basically told me that it was impossible for the beef to be grisly, since it's beef tenderloin. He said it was impossible that the potato's were day-olds because they give any left-overs to staff at the end of the night. He also said the food was cold because it had sat for too long; something I already knew. Then he said that the meals took so long because they had been forgotten; again, something I already knew. And, to end the conversation he told me that next time we make reservations, be sure to talk to him so that he can give us a free appetizer! I'm sorry, but i paid almost $40 for a meal I didn't eat! And the total of our table was four times that! A free appetizer isn't going to cut it. In my opinion, I deserve a meal on the house. When he gave me the offer, I was just so offended and in such shock that I just said "OK." and hung up.

I will never return again unless this gets sorted out!

Six out of ten. A few of my friends and I decided to participate in Dine About Winnipeg and we eneded up at Infernos. I ordered the lobster dumplings, fillet mignon with shrimp and the creme brule. I found the food here to be ok. The dumpling seemed to long for more flavor and came in a little bit under par. The fillet was great but a little greasy. I was least impressed by the dessert as the brule was poorely executed. The server was pretty good until the end. It took him quite a long time for him to bring us our bill. Im not too sure if it looked like we were engaged in an intense convo as I found myself getting bored listening to my tipsy friends conversate about BS!! Overall I would give this rest a 6/10 rating. This may be due to the fact that the dine about menu is prepared and cooked differently than their normal menu. I recall the last time I ate here to be a much better experience.

-----07 Sep, 2012-----

7/10. Decent food

Mediocre at Best, but not usually that good.... Been to Inferno's three times now...I must say I cannot understand what all the fuss is about...? One time out of the three we've been, the food was OK. This last time, I thought that I'd have the rabbit, since it was a special, and I thought that might be the key to getting a good meal. Wrong.

The rabbit turned up as a dry, deep fried mess, barely edible, I left most of it on the plate. Another of our party had a steak that was as tough as shoe leather. The service was barely adequate (one of my pet peeves, when the server brings the main course and asks, "Is there anything else I can get you?". I ask for another beverage (a GOOD server notices my glass is empty and asks ME, but that's asking a lot...), and the beverage arrives when I'm almost done my meal. Particularly annoying when there's rabbit "dust" everywhere while I try to choke it down...)

Add to that the fact that the tables are jammed in so tight that I'm literally bumping elbows with the fellow behind me, and that adds up to not visiting this place again. There's lots better to be had in Winnipeg.

Moules et Frites. If you're unsure what to oder, then get the mussels and fries. A specialty and a good one at that. Only downfall is I never warm up to Homes-turned-Restaurant appeal. Unless executed properly with alot of room to work on, it just almost always looks too small and crowded. This forced them to have such small tables one too many in one room. The patio is nice, but on the blistering hot days of Winnipeg summers, it's not such a pretty alternative. The only other house-turned-restaurant that I like was 529 Wellington, but then again, THAT was a mansion... just saying.

So disappointed with Inferno's. I went two years ago and the food was awesome. I went back two weeks ago and the food was absolute garbage. I ordered the beef medallions, by the time our table of four got our food I was starving (9pm and 745pm reservation). They came medium (I asked for medium rare) which was fine, but I literally could not eat them...the meat was tough and fatty and tasted like propane. Most unfortunate was another person I was with ordered the same dish and was just as disappointed. We both ended up sending our food back. This restaurant seems to be solely focused on how many diners they can cram into a night, as opposed to the quality of their food.

I think this place is getting tired. Surprised that absolutely every meal including specials had the identical sides. The vegetables where not in season and my steak plain with no flavor. Not thinking I want to rush back.

Great food. atmosphere..?. I have always loved Infernos. The food is always good, I just wish I wasn't always seated an elbow's lenghth away from a very loud annoying group as I was last evening. It would be nice if Infernos created a private dining room for such groups. I've never been with displeased with the food or service so i will definitely continue going back. Hopefully next time the sides change though. I think I've had my fill of their starch and veg options!
