My favourite place for breakfast. Love the Mexican Breakfast. Have taken my family here and they like it too. Staff is very nice. The balcony is nice. Also make sure you grab some bread in the way out. My favourite is the sourdough.
Went here just after it opened on a Sunday morning. Had excellent service. Lots of choices for drinks and food. Parking is a bit of an issue. Had to park around the corner, as no parking on Osborne in front of restaurant.
this place is amazing for breakfast and lunch. the dinner options are okay. stellas started out at this location with bakery, breakfast and lunch options; this is what theyre best at
Get past the fact this place has uncomfortable crowded seating and long wait times and you're going to get served some damn delicious food. This is the original location and probably still does things best but due to proximity we usually go to the one on Grant. Pro tip: Stella's usually is thought of as a breakfast joint, but try their whole menu. So many delicious options for any meal at a reasonable price!
Stella's is absolutely delicious. You just cannot go wrong! Always SO yummy! The service is very quick. Their hash browns are the best... Love it.
This is a stella's restaurant. There is not too many reviews for this specific location, but if you have been to any other location is about the same food in a different location. I am not a huge fan of this location for a few reasons; one being is it seems extremely busy all the time and you can wait quite awhile to get a table, and in the winter it can be a little chilly sitting at some tables near the windows.
Fresh potato soup at it's best. Big line up but worth the wait. Parking is a bit of a challenge. Friendly service at reasonable price.Be back.
The freshest flavours live here! I've never been disappointed with a meal. The food comes out in good time, hot and fresh. I feel like every meal is made with care. The menu here has good variety and everything tastes great! The service has always been quick, and done with a sincere smile.
I love Stella's, what can I say? Their food is always a hit. Everything on their menu is divine! I tried the salmon benedict for the first time and it was a hitter! The portion was so generous I had to take it home. The service is always great and the servers are always friendly and super knowledgeable about the menu. Love love love!!!
I like Stellas, its good. The Stellas jam is the bees knees and Im usually pretty happy after eating here. I highly recommend the Meixcan breakfast with chorizo.
I may be a little bias writing this review... Stella's Cafe is honestly my favourite place to eat! I frequent the Osborne and CCFM locations, and every time I always get amazing service and amazing food.
Today we stopped for a late lunch/early dinner at the Osborne location. We usually don't like going down into the Village because of parking, but it's nice that they have a lot behind the building (it could use a little maintenance, however...). We got seated very quickly at the small table inside the cafe, but it took several minutes for our server to come by for drink orders- which was quickly amended with her pleasantness. She took our order right away, and it felt like within minutes, we were eating!
I ordered the Ratatouille, which comes served over steamed quinoa and a side of house salad. It comes vegan without modifications, which is very nice. My husband ordered the Vegetarian sandwich, which was hummus, sprouts, and veggies on a nice bun. He subbed the cream cheese for guacamole, and had a side of the chickpea parsley soup.
The cafe has a nice "homey" feeling without being dumpy, which I love. It's an overall very pleasant experience and I always recommend Stella's to out-of-towners... locals already know it's a winner!
Stella's on Osborne the same great breakfast and brunch food that Stella's has become known for in Winnipeg. And while the lines might be long (on a weekend or holiday morning) the service is quick and the food flavourful and great enough to make easily make up for the wait. A unique and delightful Winnipeg institution that should not be missed.
Young crowd and open concept for sitting . Patio outside is crazy busy in summer .
Food is amazing as always , you go anytime its busy and food is finger licking .
Stella's is consistently good. All day breakfast, lunch or dinner. They always have something on the menu I'm interested in that is good. A lot of vegetarian options that are really good. I must admit, I do desperately miss the old brownie, it was delicious. However they make up for it nicely with the flourless chocolate cake. Yummy!! London fog is the best in the city. Making their own bread makes sandwiches delicious! One time I pointed out my veggie patties were a bit burnt. The waitress told the manager right away, he immediately came over and apologized and tried to resolve the issue and because I did not wish for them to be replaced ( I was full enough) he gave me free jam to take home. Quick resolution! I was so happy! Amazing for any restaurant. Great job guys love it! We still go there all the time, the other day I was there twice.😋
Not what it used to be.
Stella's has always been a favorite for a weekend brunch and it's always been good. Came here again on Sunday, around 1pm and it was busy as always.
I ordered the iced latte & my boyfriend ordered the Baileys latte. $6.50 for the hot drink, I tried it and barely tasted the Baileys.
We ordered the Pesto tomato Havarti sandwich & the special which was the beef & mushroom stew. The sandwich was OK, but the stew was very salty.
We had to wait close to 25 mins for our food after we ordered. Not a very pleasant visit.
Stella's is Winnipeg ' s most successful restaurant franchise or company. The food and service across all its restaurants are consistent. Down to earth café a little hipster. I love the local feel. I love the vegetarian lasagna and cafe breakfast.
Really enjoy my breakfast here! Saturday mornings are super busy but manage to get a table after a little bit of waiting. The breakfast potatoes are delicious with the Rosemary seasoning. I also had the yogurt parfait with seasonal fruit. Was expecting berries but was surprised to find oranges, watermelon and grapes leaving the granola and yogurt a tad bit watery but still yummy.
I'm not sure I've ever had a bad dining experience at Stella's, ever! And this counts for any of their locations! Food is always spot on. Breakfast menu is awesome (you can't beat freshly made Stella's bread and homemade Stella's jam!!). Service has always been very helpful, friendly, and accommodating. A Winnipeg institution! Simple food made well.Â
Great, now i'm craving Stella's breakfast...
Always friendly and attentive service. Reliable good food with varied menu, healthy options, generous portions. One of the best options for breakfast, lunch or a casual dinner on Winnipeg. Outdoor eating area is very relaxing.
been a few times 10 years ago. decent omelettes and other breakfast/brunch items. decent coffee. line ups on weekends make it a non-starter even with the 2nd location. they did bearded & tattooed staff mixed with local, organic everything in a medium-posh 'bring your lame relatives' establishment before everyone else
Stella's has never let me down. The prices are a bit up there but you pay for good quality food. I have brought my mother here, my friends, my boyfriend, and they've all loved it. My favourite is the Pad Thai. It's perfection. The servers are always so nice to us and you can tell they love their job.
Delicious! Good prices... But...there is nail polish salon next door and it stinks like chemicals... It stinks so bad it starts to make you feel sick....
I'm so happy I found this place, the price is great and the food is AMAZING, plus the staff are always friendly. Sometimes there is a bit of a wait but it's totally worth it!
I've been going here at least once a week for the last several years and have yet to have a bad meal. This is my go to place to take my out of town visitors. Superb food at a great value. A+
Update on My Opinion. I have changed my previous dislike vote to like, based on a recent experience while dinning in for breakfast. I had the Salmon Benedict, and our server was gracious in letting me sub a salad for the potatoes and leave off the rosemary biscuit. The lemon dill sauce was amazing, the quality of the salmon was superb and the poached eggs were seriously some of the best I've ever had. I guess the key here is to eat-in and avoid take-out if you care about quality.
-----23 Dec, 2014-----
Awful. I just paid $18.42 for the worst burger ever.
I had to pay extra for bacon and cheese and a SUNNY SIDE UP EGG, which I get to add flavour since I don't eat the bun.
Got my burger and the egg is WAY over-hard (and dried out).... and the beef is tasteless, and the take-out cutlery won't even stab into or cut the cardboard mess.
Blech.
Always really great!. Love Stella's! As our direct competition to the Oakwood, I gotta tell ya! We love to visit when we can! Your breakfasts are amazing. I love the Mexican Breakfast.
You definitely keep us on our toes!
Support local independent restaurants! :)
Always great!. I have been to this location multiple times and they never disappoint! Everything from the food to the service is great! You really must check out this location!
Stella's Clubhouse and Caesar Salad. Best Clubhouse in town!
Will always be our go to spot. Well I visit or pick up from here at least once a week. It's just always good. The soups are fantastic. Everything is fresh. And the staff is great. I usually stick to what I love, chicken club, no mayo sub remulade sauce. Or the chicken provolone sandwich is great. My boyfriend really enjoys the pesto havarti sandwich with ham or the Jamablya. We always always get soups and they never really disappoint. If they have peanut soup, get it, it's just great. Lattes too!
Good food, but.... Awkward, always crowded, and honestly I usually just go next door to the Osborne Village Cafe.
Update: Since there is no longer an Osborne Village Cafe next door... Stella's is a solid breakfast option, definitely the best you'll get in the Village.
Mmm, iced tea :3. I always get their iced tea, it's the best and I love their veggie lasagna and salmon burger
Best Breakfast in Wpg. I am not reviewing their lunch or dinner, but Stella's is one of the best things about Winnipeg. People from out of town have told me the only thing they miss about Winnipeg is Stella's.
Their breakfast potatoes, and jam are to die for, the rest of their breakfast is top notch as well. It gets extremely busy, and during peak times there is a long wait and sometimes the service suffers. Don't care though, best food ever and the staff are great as well, just overworked sometimes.
I actually won't go to Coras or Perkins or anywhere but Stellas for Breakfast.
Good Lunch spot. Never been to Stella's for dinner so I can't comment on the food at night but lunch was very good. I had the chilli and a cheese scone. The chilli was good, could have been a bit spicier for my liking but that's just me. I understand that it is made for everyday tastes so if it was spicier most people wouldn't like it. The scone was really good, tasted as if it just came out of the oven. I could only eat half of it due to it's size. Definitely order their breads, fantastic.
We had to wait for a table but were seated within 5 minutes. Service was friendly but we did have to wait a bit for the food, nothing too long though.
We will go back, the place could be loud for some people, didn't bother us. I was more bothered by the mom's that brought in their giant shopping cart sized strollers that take up so much space, but that's a totally different rant.
Excellent Establishments. This is our "go to" choice for all of the Stella's locations. Although they're all great and we've always had awesome dining experiences at all of them, the Osborne location is top-notch.
The meals are always well prepared and well-presented, generous portions and great value for our dollars.
Stella's respects my food allergy (to onions) and will always be my choice to visit with family, friends or co-workers.
Keep up the good work and see you soon.
Cute atmosphere, good food.. This Stella's location is the one that my boyfriend and I frequent. To be quite honest, service can be hit and miss, but it is usually a hit. The food always tends to be just fine, no real complaints there. Good prices as well. I love their selection. We've had many things on their menu. The burgers are awesome, the breakfast options are awesome, the sandwiches are awesome. Sometimes the soup is meh but usually it is tasty, especially because they serve it with bread (which is a nice touch). Stella's bread is my absolute favorite. You can buy their jam and bread in the restaurant if you want to try it. :)
I would recommend this Stella's to anyone. But try not to go when it's busy. It makes the experience crappy, in my opinion, because it can be quite noisy. Getting things to go is always an option, if you happen to be like me in regards to disliking noise. :)
For the most part, we have experienced really friendly staff. That's also a great plus.
Give it a try. :) That chicken burger is something else...I'm telling you! :) Yummy.
Amazing!. It's Sunday, it is tough to think of places in the city to go where you won't have to wait crazy long but will still be decent food. Me and my friend decided to go to Stella's on Osborne, we hadn't been in a while.
There was a line up when we got there, but the hostess was amazing! She kept coming around with smoothie shots and letting everyone know how much longer the wait would be, she even remembered peoples names, the wait was about twenty minutes but it went by super fast.
My friend is really difficult to eat with, she has a ton of food allergies and she's really particular. They have so many options! The manager came by and said she had allergies too so understood how hard it can be to eat out, she made my friend feel so comfortable and also made sure that she still got to eat what she wanted, and then checked on us again to make sure everything was ok. The food came really quick and was so good, obviously really fresh. Our server was awesome, our coffee was never less than half full.
Best brunch experience ever!
Good Stuff. I've always enjoyed my meals here. Sometimes there's a wait, but what can you do when that's the space they have and interested guests are lining up to eat there. I always feel like I'm eating well here. Its popularity sometimes creates a loud atmosphere but it's still one of my few go-to places to meet up with friends
Great brunch.. While I've been to Stella's many, many times before, I always have seemed to forget to review it (until now).
Yesterday, my partner and myself decided to go to Stella's for a late breakfast. It was extremely busy, but we were still able to get a table. We had the Vegan Mexican and the Simply Scrambled (with seasoned tofu). I was pleased that our server was so willing to reduce the fat in my dish upon request. I really enjoyed my dish, which included aforementioned tofu, toast, and Stella's jam (which is to die for). My dining companion (the bottomless pit) also loved his, and was very full afterwards. I believe his dish consisted of corn tortillas, refried beans, some sort of imitation sausage patties, vegetables, salsa, and guac. It was served with hash browns.
The service was a bit slow, but understandably, considering the crowd, and the fact that it is the long weekend. At any rate, in my opinion, you can never go wrong with breakfast here.
Fresh, healthy and tasty. This is one of my favorite breakfast places in the city. The mexican breakfast is a personal favorite with fresh guacamole, salsa, black beans, two eggs and fantastic cilantro and garlic sauce. The combination is great and in addition to having great food choices, I have never had a bad experience in terms of service. The staff have always been very friendly and fast and the prices are very reasonable considering the fresh and organic ingredients and portion sizes.
Went this place for brunch,
I ordered lemonade and brunch sandwich, they were really good!
Will go back!
Relaxed Atmosphere. Love coming here for the all day breakfast. I tend to go to the Sherbrook location as the Portage ave one is usually too busy and cramped (I have a big bubble). Everything I've tried has always been great. The flourless chocolate cake tasted just like cheesecake. The food is always fresh and love the relaxed atmosphere. If you are in a rush I'd suggested going to the Portage ave. location as they like to turn over their tables quick (but less room). The restaurants can also be loud so not the place to read a book or have a meal and study. Good food and still wanna try Edna Fedya (Edna's Cafe by U of M) which is also a Stella's owned restaurant.
Always the best. Love breakfast at Stella's. Best eggs and potatoes. when the line isn't too long we stop by for Breakfast.
Great atmosphere. My experience, I find, mainly depends on what I order. The service is alway good, however. A few times I've tried the soup/sandwhiches which were good. Last time I had the Sweet Prawn Curry and it was absolutely amazing! I definitely can't wait to come back and have it again.
Great breakfast. I've been meaning to write this review for some time...
i enjoyed breakfast so much that i brought my friends from out of town to stella's
i'm not too sure what people have to complain about
they serve a tasty food at a decent price with good service
i imagine there are obviously bad situations like every restaurant
imho stella's does a great job hence they are always packed in the mornings on weekends
I absolutely love coming here. They have a wide variety of vegan/vegetarian menu items, which is a huge plus when you're trying to please both meat eaters and vegetarians. The vegetarian sandwich and banana&blueberries french toast are my utmost favorites. The fish tacos are pretty up there too. No matter which location you visit, the atmospheres great, and staff and service are always quick and friendly. Two thumbs up.
I love this place. Breakfast,.. awesome
Lunch,....even better. Supper,... Omg fish tacos!!!!!!
I would live at Stella's if I could. Their brunch is to die for. Always great service and never too long of a wait no matter how bad the line up looks. I live in Regina now and the only restaurant I crave from Winnipeg is this one.
Recommends: baked eggs, omelets, hash browns, potato salad, turkey sandwich
Yum!. Sooo good, I would eat here every weekend if I could. This location is always busy, but the service is still always great and the food is wonderful. My favorite so far is definitely the Mexican Breakfast, mmmm.
Love it. I go here often and food is always good and so is the service
Worth the wait!. Sigh... I've been to Stellas so many times before yet have never written a review. Well, here it is. Absolutely the best breakfast in Winnipeg. It's going to get me through the half marathon this year, imagining that shortly after crossing the finish line I can scarf down a huge plate of banana pancakes in all their fluffy decadence!! One can tell that everything is from scratch all the way down to the jam. Be prepared to wait in line, but do stay there- you won't be disappointed!!
Something for everyone. Huge menu and everything is delicious! Staff is always friendly and helpful. Great vegetarian/vegan options. Homemade always fresh food. Never had a bad experience. Get there early weekends for breakfast though if you don't want a super long wait!
5 Stars. Stellas Is a must for everyone, a trendy cafe with great service and great food, its affordable, the portions are good and the taste is original, sometimes you have to wait a few mins to be seated but thats the reality. I recommend: the house salad , roast chicken sandwich for lunch and the breakfast sandwich for well...you guessed it...breakfast....
Fresh and Delicious. The Stella's Eggs Benedict is absolutely amazing. I will never look at regular eggs benny the same way again!
Love the Mexican breakfast, a great change from the ordinary.
STELLA!!('s). I love Stella's - especially their all-day breakfast. They use really high quality ingredients like vita eggs, which taste so much better! I've been here for hundreds of brunches because the atmosphere is so warm and the food is so good. My favourites are the cafe breakfast, mexican breakfast, and the mushroom and swiss omelette. The rosemary hash browns are perfect. For dinner, the grass-fed beef burger is really tasty, and their fish tacos are the best. They also have excellent scones and the jam - which they also sell by the jar - is to die for.
All of the locations are great, and the Grant and Sherbrook cafes both have very lovely patios in the summer, but this location was the first and remains my favourite.

+4.5
Home made breads and jams and delicious filling breakfast, very friendly wait staff
Best place for breakfast in Winnipeg. I love this place. The service is awesome. The food is lovely. The servers are always very attentive and friendly. I love to go here and will always love to go to Stella's. Best blueberry pancakes... ever. Only issue is that I think that ... the cappuccinos taste weird.
There winnipeg airport location has the best bread pudding.
Pretty darn good. Went for lunch a few times, sampled a new item each time, always fresh, well prepared and happily served. Nice to see a WPG biz flourish for all the right reasons. Way to go Stella's!
A Winnipeg staple. The Osborne Stella's has benefited from its recent(ish) switch to table service. The servers are prompt and friendly, and the food arrives quickly. Everyone has their Stella's menu favourites; mine are the house salad and also the mexican breakfast (an incredibly satisfying AND gluten-free dish! Corn tortillas covered in refried beans, cheese and eggs, with housemade salsa, cilantro sour cream, guacamole and a side of hash browns).
In the afternoons, this is a great spot for a cup of coffee with a friend or a quiet place to read or study.
Order the house salad!. Seriously, it is fantastic. The soup and salad combo is my brunch fave.
All-Day Delicious. Stella's All-Day-Breakfast was better than anything offered in Ottawa, what's more, they serve all day. My friend had the chicken/prov sandwich and said it was quite good as well.
Service was attentive, but they served our water in a bar-glass which was like 300ml.
Hard to go wrong in the neighborhood
Good. I only go for the cafe breakfast; 2 eggs, ham, hash browns (really it's the hash brown's seasoning that keeps me coming back) and instead of toast I get a sliced tomato on the grill with the hash brown seasoning. So good! Really good of them to make that substitution upon request.
Coffee is good too!
That one breakfast dish is one of my favourites in the city.
I've tried a few other menu items off the entrees and haven't really enjoyed them. Breakfast is their speciality and some of the sandwiches are good too.
Hoping for an eggs benedict addition to the menu.
I enjoy my stella visits. Give it a try!
Great place. I went to Stellas a while ago, ordered the pancakes. The pancakes were fairly large and very filling. Afterwards, I noticed their cinnamon buns. Oh my.. I wish I got their cinnamon bun instead. It is one of the best cinnamon buns in the city. If you like it with a nice cream cheese topping, it's mouth watering. Add a little butter to it and you will be in snack heaven. Just typing this is making my stomach growl.
They have friendly staff and decent amount of seating, so it's a great place for a nice breakfast or snack.
