Review Segovia Tapas Bar And Restaurant - Winnipeg

Meagan Hughes
Beautiful restaurant and delicious food. Service is also great. My only critique is that the lounge area is quite small and it is easy to bump into tables and whatnot; feels a bit cramped. But overall it is a great place to eat and has a lovely atmosphere. Perfect for a romantic date or special occasion.

Amazing food. The negative review I saw complained about small portions.. this is a tapas restaurant, so of course they are small portions... I honestly forgot to keep taking photos for this review because I was so excited about the food as it came. The waiter saw that we weren't really sure what to order so he offered to bring us different options, we agreed and he took extremely good care of us and he delivered a great selection of tapas. We had a food sensitivity in our group and they were very accommodating and attentive to this. What a great experience. Food was DELICIOUS.

One of the best restaurants in the country, in my opinion. Uber consistent in terms of service quality, food quality and overall experience. Canada doesn't have many high quality contemporary Spanish eateries and this is definitely one of them. Having been to Spain multiple times, I can say with confidence that Segovia is truly top notch.

Cozy environment and delicious food. This a multi-course restaurant with a good range of wines. There's usually a decent waiting line. Our order took a while to arrive. But it was worth it to experience all different flavors and textures.

If you have yet to experience tapas you should do it here! Visited on a Monday evening and did not have to wait but by the time we left the place was getting busy. Ordered 2 meal plates, cheese plate and Spanish olives, loved all of it and left full and satisfied. The restaurant is beautiful and cozy. Staff were very friendly.

We went there in a Sunday evening. The restaurant opens at 5 and we arrived there about 5 min before 5. There were already people waiting. We were glad that we arrived early because the restaurant filled up quickly. Since it doesn't take reservations, it's a good idea to be there early. The food was excellent. Paella was especially good. Other dishes were also excellent. Everything was prepared with care and attention to detail. The staff made great suggestions and was able to answer all our questions concerning specific dishes and ingredients. It was an excellent evening and I highly recommend it.

Great tapas and friendly staff here at Segovia. Wine and beer selection was good. Everything was delicious. Our favourite top three dishes were the 1. Octopus, potato, Sobrassada, Ladneh 2. BBQ Chicken Paella and 3. Asparagus, walnut salsa maca with egg.

It takes a special type of food mixed with a top notch server to make a fun evening with friends all that more spectacular. Delicious every step of the way and worth the money. Do yourself a favor and make this an evening spot one day this summer and hope that you get Sam as your server!

I have been in the food industry for 20+ years and I am usually disappointed with one or more services in a restaurant be it the service or the food or sometimes both. I can say that Segovia does not disappoint in any area, the service is excellent and the knowledge the front of the staff have is exceptional. The food is always top notch and subtle with flavors that are carefully picked to match each dish with is not an easy feat to accomplish. Segovia is my favorite restaurant in Winnipeg and my wife and I go every year for our wedding anniversary as we know we will never be let down by their amazing and exceptional service in all areas. I recommend Segovia to any and everybody who truly enjoys unique flavors and a very relaxing environment.

Great service, our waiter was knowledgeable, easy to chat with and welcome to share his suggestions. The food was creative and flavorful however not what i expected of traditional Spanish cuisine. We tasted 6 menu selections and enjoyed all of the,

Great dishes with a lot of variety, vegetarian options are a little limited. Recommend repeat visits to get a real scope of the different dishes offered!

Originally slated for Dinner on Wednesday, an eight o’clock arrival finding the 43-seat Restaurant completely full with a sixty minute wait for even solo diners, it was instead on Thursday at 4:55pm that Segovia was visited, a seat at the Chefs counter easily secured though the place would again be full within an hour.

Thoroughly titled Segovia Tapas Bar and Restaurant, a name that has stuck to the Osborne Village hot spot for nearly a decade as it fully defines what was Manitoba’s first Spanish small plates venue, guests entering the space at 484 Stradbrook Avenue are first greeted by heavy wooden doors before entering a dimly lit space, the former home fully renovated and now comprised of two dining rooms including one with a full view of the kitchen.

Rustic yet elegant in design, a combination of exposed brick, wood tables, steel and leather situated behind slate countertops, Segovia represents the vision of Chef Adam Donnelly who opened the Restaurant at just 26 years old, the fact that the place remains packed six days a week despite not accepting reservations a testament to a combination of excellent service and an ever changing menu that stands out more than just locally.

Rooted in tradition but at the same time looking forward, an embrace of Winnipeg’s limited seasonality differentiating Donnelly’s cooking from what one might find in Barcelona, Bilbao or even the city from which his Restaurant takes its name, guests are wise to begin their tasting with items including Ham Croquettes or Tomato-brushed Toast topped in imported Jamon Iberico, both sold at fractions of what Celebrities like Jose Andres charge yet just as precise while fresh Canadian Razor Clams with strained Yogurt and Herbs atop toast were absolutely delightful in their balance of sweet and sour.

Treated next to Segovia’s take on Patatas Bravas, justifiably one of the few items consistently offered since day one, it was with the smoky flavor of Paprika still lingering on the lips that a sizable plate of Wild Mushrooms followed, the use of Acid and Hummus intended to be eaten on crispy Flatbread not particularly Spanish but everything about the combination wonderful and arguably the best dish tasted in all of Winnipeg.

Rounding out savories with a plump Quail grilled and served over lengths of Celeriac, the Root predictably earthy but well balanced by vibrant Salsa, it was after readying the palate with Espresso and Dark Chocolate that Dessert was served, a quartet of Churros with smooth Yogurt as good as what one will find in Mexico or overseas while Dates split and stuffed with Mascarpone plus Pistachios in a pool of Maple Syrup are as simple yet stunning as they are sweet.

Came here at the request of my sister in law who was in from out of town and had always wanted to try it. So glad we did!!! It was absolutely delicious! My husband and I tried so many things we normally wouldn’t have and loved just about all of it - especially the lamb with broccolini - it was the fave of the table! Our waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable and he definitely added to the enjoyment of the evening! We will definitely be back!!!
Richard
Already my kind of place 2 chefs side by side. Fried quail piri piri ...Tuna crudo w/ mojo rojo and lemon (1/2 portion)...grilled asparagus w/ walnuts, cheese and dried apple ... churros con chocolate. This meal goes into my rare orgasmic category!!!!

My wife and I are in Winnipeg for a quick shopping and spa getaway. Last night we decided to have dinner at Segovia. We have been to this restaurant multiple times and have always been happy with the experience. On this occasion it was a bit different. The room is still great. It is comfortable and nicely lit. The food was outstanding and the wine we ordered was wonderful. My issue is with our server. She was way too slow. We were waiting for her all night. We had to wait to order our tapas plates, wait to order our wine, wait for her to bring our cheese plate. She seemed to have no sense of urgency or timing. I was also very irritated by her comments about our order. She made a point of letting us know she approves of what we ordered. This is not my first time in a Tapas restaurant. I don't need the waitress to tell me that my wine is earthy and delicious. Just make sure it gets to the table before the food. Regardless of the service last night I am sure we will be back to Segovia again and again. I just hope to be seated in a different section.

Been here many times, got our usual server and she was great as well as the food. Pretty much ordered everything on the menu here. The only one that didn’t leave an impression was the charcuterie. Otherwise everything else was else. Favourites are the anchovies, and chicken croquettes from this seasons menu.

The only thing that marred this review from a five star is the hostess that was rude and cut us off when we asked for something. It was near the end of the night and she just left a sour note to the whole experience.

Will come back for the food and our usual server. But DEFINITELY would rather not interact with the hostess.

I have never had a bad experience here. Amazing food, even more amazing staff. Joel and Andrew are awesome! If you get served by either, you’re in a for a treat!

It's not my first or last time at Segovia but last night was hands down one of the best meals I have had in Winnipeg EVER. Plus something very special about Segovia is that the service was amazing. Our server explained everything on the menu and made sure to ask to see how we enjoyed our food. This is the first review of a restaurant I have ever written but that's how impressed I am. Thanks Segovia for providing a lovely atmosphere and food for my fiancé's birthday dinner.

Ordered four-five dishes for three people and it was just enough. I loved everything I ate, I and the ambiance was also very nice the only problem tough it was a bit loud. I'd say portions are good cause at all the tapas places I've been in Europe, I leave the table hungrier but it was not the case with Segovia. The bill was around 40-50$/person which was also not bad at all.
Food + Ambiance
Foodie heaven. The food is divine! The balance of flavours and quality of the food is incredible. Such a treat! The place itself is so lovely, an old home that has been modernized to be aesthetically pleasing. The patio ambiance is also so nice. Loved the halloumi with tomatoes, tuna tartar, chorizo and the caramel crema with churros.

Awesome food.
Perfect size portions for sharing.
This place never disappoints.
Innovative menu with fresh ingredients.
Highly recommend.
Make sure you arrive early or be prepared to wait for table, but it is well worth it.
Janny
Wow this place is amazing! The chef has really nailed the variety on the menu and kept the quality consist! I love coming here because I love variety and I can't describe how good most items are! They change out the menu once every couple of months to change it up and I love it for that! Great restaurant!

Segovia serves tapas dishes that are perfect for 2 to share. Since the restaurant does not take any reservations, it makes planning for a large group challenging esp if you're constrained by time. On the other hand, since the restaurant is located in the central of the village, it makes a perfect location to shop around when there's a wait for the table.

My SO and I were there on a Friday night around 6:50pm, the table was around a 30 mins wait. Hopefully, this gives you an idea on what the typical wait time is for the weekend.

The menu at Segovia is quite different from any typical restaurants because all they serve are tapas. I am Impressed by the number of options there are for vegetarians! I'm a meat lover but I definitely had quite a few of the vegetarian options and they were fantastic! Between the 2 of us, we ordered a number of dishes, including:
1. Mushroom Croqueta, Truffle Aioli x 2
2. Lamp Empanada, Charred Riata x 2
3. Jason Iberico De Bellota
4. Squash Tortilla, Harissa, Mojo Verde, Labneh
5. Chicken Albomdigas, Piquillo Pepper Curry
6. Halloumi, Hazelnuts, Barberries, Honey

The food was extraordinary! My favourite dish of all we've tried was the Halloumi.

If you are foody and love trying new things, I would highly recommend it! The restaurant changes its menu quite frequent so there are always new items to check out even if you've been there before! We would totally go back again, perhaps only on special occasions because the meals were quite expensive....

Do note that Segovia does not have a parking lot so you'll have to find street parking, which isn't always the easiest esp it's in the village. Despite the terrible parking, this place is totally worth checking out!

Fantastic tapas dishes (perfect for 2 to share) with each offering a completely unique flavor profile. We heard it could be hard to get a spot but we went on a Sunday at 7pm and it was the perfect time. We had a great meal, a great bottle of wine & left totally satisfied. The prices are reasonable and made it an easy decision to keep trying more menu items.
Carla Hernandez
I've wanted to try Segovia for a long time now because reviews were so good and the menu is unique. First, the dishes are overpriced - the prices here are about double of what most tapas places are (from my experience). Second, portions are pretty small. If you want a full belly, I wouldn't come here for that satisfaction. Third, every plate is a hit or miss. All combinations are interesting, but don't always work well together. Some dishes I felt like I could have made better at home because most dishes weren't that complicated. This place is for sure for the adventurous eater, and not for any kind of picky eater. Service was good, and tables were full around 7. It's a small space and the lady next to me kept getting up with her purse and bumped me several times which was quite annoying. So be aware that it may be a bit cozy in there as things are closer together. Overall I feel this place is way over hyped. I understand it's something very different for Winnipegers and it's more "fancy", but we have a lot of other places that are better, worth the money and you leave with a full stomach! I'm glad I tried it, but I probably won't go back unless It's for some churros!! But ultimately spending 125 dollars on 9 "okay" dishes wasn't so satisfying.
Dishes!
• Jamon Croqueta with Romesco
• Mushroom Dumplings with Truffle butter broth
• Boquerones with Pear and Avocado
• Lamb Sweetbreads with Labneh, Spicy Lime Dressing, Dukkah and Basil
• Chicken Albondigas with Piquillo Pepper Curry
• Beef Tartare with Bone Marrow Toast Pickled Radish and Buckwheat * Patatas Bravas
• Iberico Chorizo with Apples, Cider
• Churros with Dulce de Leche dipping sauce 😍

The Heavy Hitters
We Hit up this place several months ago for a special occasion. Reading the reviews, we made sure to not go starving (like we usually are) as this place is actually meant for enjoying your food and not pigging out. We went right after opening and managed to get a table for 2 without waiting. The atmosphere was a bit pretentious, crowded and loud. Hopefully they can expand to a bigger location considering how successful they have been. Service was friendly and helpful with suggesting and describing menu items. We ordered Sangria which was very good, but at about $35 for the pitcher very pricey. I can't remember all the dishes we ordered but I know we had the smoked char with lentils and pickled onions (our favourite, A+), anchovy toast, tuna tostadas and something that was basically a small plate of sliced fried potato chips with a sauce on them. Our dinner was very enjoyable but we would pass on the potato chip dish (potatoes bravas I think?) next time as it was kind basic and small for 9 bucks. For dessert we had these cream cheese and pistachio stuffed dates that were AMAZING and a steal for 2 bucks each. Our bill was about $150 and we did not leave hungry nor stuffed.
All in all we would definitely return for another special occasion in the future.

Segovia is devine, service and food wise. The waiter is always attentive and helpful with decisions. My favourite dish here would be the beef tar tare and the ahi tuna. A bit on the pricier side but well worth the experience. I will be coming back to try their food

First visit last evening (November 2016) - a bit of a wait for a table for six although wait was reasonable given the small space. Very nice ambiance, concept explained clearly, group decided to simply allow the waiter to provide recommendations - very good experience, beef tar tar was particularly good. Definitely worth a second visit, price worked out to about ~$100/head including wine/cocktails.

You guys, this place is the real deal. This is clearly not a secret, seeing as even on a week night, you'll wait no less than 30-45 minutes for a table (at least that's been my experience!). Heaven knows how long you might wait on a weekend, however, they're happy to call you when your table is ready in case you decide to walk across the street to a local pub or bistro to grab a drink while you wait.

Service has always been on point. On my most recent visit, our server had great suggestions, great sense of humour and joined in on conversation occasionally (but in the most unoffensive way.) There were 4 in our party and we shared 7 plates plus 2 for dessert and we were absolutely stuffed (in case you're wondering how many plates to order.) We tried a meat and cheese platter, Chorizo and Apples, Smoked Char, Beef Tartare, and a few others. Each one was just so enjoyable. Flavour explosions in my mouth. Even the Patatas Bravas, which were essentially glorified French Fries had this killer Garlic Aioli and home made tomato ketchup-type sauce that i could've licked the plate clean. Needless to say...the menu had something for every palate, and if i was able to order everything...I would've.

Segovia will be going on my "Favourite" list from now on. Will be going back SOON!

Very popular restaurant! Love the ambience, the service was excellent, and the food was delicious! They serve tapas, and I personally love having a lot of small dishes for dinner for the variety and sharing. The only downside is I think it's a little overpriced and they don't take reservations, so if it's a special occasion you may want to go early to make sure you don't have to leave and go find another restaurant for dinner. Fortunately, it's in Osborne village so there are options should you take the risk and fail to get a table. (Also important to note: If you're going with a big hungry man, he may leave hungry if he doesn't spend enough money. The boyfriend has gotten used to pre-eating if we go here so we don't break the bank.)

Segovia is our go-to choice for an evening out and our most recent meal was a delicious as we've come to expect. Unfortunately we were let down by a (sorry, there's no other word for it) foul dessert. The salted chocolate tart was okay, but the frozen yogourt on the side was either rancid, badly executed, or a menu risk that didn't pay off. I recommend avoiding it unless you enjoy the flavour of spoiled feta cheese in your mouth for 12 hours after dinner.
Jess
Love this place, awesome atmosphere, great service, every dish seems to be done very well. Love the stuffed dates they make (tried making them at home and failed miserably).

Just delicious!
It's often a wait to get into this restaurant, but for good reason.

This is the place you take relatives who come in from out of town, or anyone you'd like to impress. Best with smaller groups where everyone takes a little bit from each dish.
Honest Truth
one of my fave and best restaurants in winnipeg! always great atmosphere, service is on point, dishes never disappoint!
when they first opened they served a "Segovia g&t" it is unfortunately not on the menu anymore but if you ask for it they always come through!

Segovia never fails to impress. The restaurant is quaint and cozy, and designed with so much attention to detail. Their tapas menu is amazing, with unique and flavourful dishes perfect for sharing. The beef tartar and anchovy toasts are definitely a must try. Lastly, the dessert is well portioned, with a favourite being the chocolate mousse! Their patio is very nice in the summer too, great location.

Always good food and great service always Love this tapas place on Osborne and will forsure be coming back very soon. Great place for drinks too.

Great food, great service. Unique dining experience. The atmosphere is nice, the small plates allowed for us to try many different tastes all of which were very good.

Great food, great company, warm little restaurant that makes you come back for more. Definitely recommend the salt cod tortilla - Liam Loeb

I simply love this restaurant.

The food is consistently good and the ever changing menu keeps me coming back.

Have a couple tapas and a couple cocktails and I go home happy. Every time.
Jelissa
Beef tartar, grilled octopus and chorizo and apple was absolutely delicious!!! Exceeded mine and my boyfriends expectations! So good! Would definitely recommend this place
Robbie K
Great food, everything was very tasty. The carrot salad with whipped feta was delicious. Service was good. Only complaint would be the space was very small and tables are very close together, probably not the place to go for a quiet romantic date.
Joshuanonymous
Gonna give them full ratings because Segovia is a classy place with a fantastic menu!

The ambience is calm and romantic. You can definitely focus on your meal and relax yourself in the cozy place.

The food was phenomenal. I didn't know too much about the menu so the waiter gave me a full on info-mercial on the meals. They were so knowledgable and sold me on everything. And they did not disappoint. I had whipped feta, octopus and other things hard to pronounce or remember. But what I know is it was one of my most memorable dining experiences in Osbourne village. Coming back soon!

It was a good experience going to Segovia for the first time. I enjoyed all the dishes that I tried especially the seared tuna and squid.

Seared tuna tostada was tasteful, light and succulent. I can have it everyday!

The sauteed squid was tender and had the adequate amount of acidity which I thoroughly enjoyed.

As for the crispy pork belly, it was important to eat all the components together because eating them separately would not work well with your palette (bittery to be exact).

Lamb dumplings were my least favourite of the night. Nothing too fantastic. It did not stand out against the other dishes I tried prior.

I finished off with a delectable dessert: date filled with mascarpone, pistachios, and drizzled with maple syrup. The mascarpone cheese balanced it well, which could have been too sweet with the date and maple syrup. The pistachio gave it 'that needed crunch'. It was the perfect bite to cleanse the palette and satisfy my sweet tooth.

The dish presentation was simple and our server took his time to briefly explain what we ordered. Overall a good experience and looking forward to going back and trying new and/or other dishes.

We tried Segovia a couple of months ago. We got there 10 minutes before they opened and there were already people waiting to get in. By 5:25, the restaurant was full. After a two hour feeding frenzy, we understood why.

The venison tartar was spot on. It was rich in flavour with just the right amount of heat. There was no gamey taste and the crispy potato straws were the perfect accompaniment to softness of the venison. Empanadas with lamb were sweet and savoury, the anchovies were served with a lemon sauce at the time and even my wife, who hates fish, enjoyed them. The cheese board was perfectly paired with spreads and condiments and would have been a perfect end to the meal if we hadn't also ordered the doughnuts for dessert...which were warm, sweet and sensual with the creme fraiche. We also ordered some of the medjool dates to take home which we enjoyed the next day when we were not so full.

Our only disappointment was that they were out of halloumi, which we were really hoping to try....hopefully on our next visit...
Christopher Moltisanti
Always great food and they always have something I've never tried before that I end up loving. The only reason I didn't give them 5/5 is that they have no reservation system

This is probably one of the best restaurants in Winnipeg. Food tastes great, service is top-notch. A bit pricey, but it's worth treating your taste buds. Hangout with your friends or go on a date with your significant other.

If ever there was a county whose customs I'd adopt, it's Spain. Nowhere is there a country that understands better the benefits of drinking, snacking and napping. When my parents dragged me there for a family vacation though, I hated it. There were no sco

Paradoxical. There is no doubt that the food here is spectacular. Unique and delicious, wonderfully prepared and presented. There is also no doubt that this isn't the kind of place where I would go with a group of people which contained a couple of guys with "hearty" appetites. I had two Swedish meatball size crab croquettes - $5 and 4 tblsp size dollops of venison tartare, $18. Along with a fresh and lovely glass of Sangria the bill was $35. Just right for me, but regardless of one's financial situation, I can hear most of my male friends grumbling already, both about the price and how they'll have to stop at a drive-through on the way home. They would spend seventy bucks and still be hungry. So diner beware, both of an extraordinary taste experience and the sticker shock. I, however won't hesitate to visit again, to enjoy the other taste sensations that await.

YUM!!!!. Freaking amazing. That is all.

Great Idea for a Meal with Friends. Four people out for dinner. Perfect way to enjoy an evening. Tapas and friends. This restaurant has the most amazing staff and food. I knew it would be good just didn't expect it to be this perfect. My favourite by far (I had about six favourites by the end of the evening) was the palatals bravas (sp?). If you enjoy great food, this is a must.
Foodychick706
One of my faves. I visit segovia with the changing seasons as the menu is sure to change as well. I am never disappointed, the food is spectacular, being share plates it really encourages a nice social meal with food conversation and better food. The servers really make it a great experience as well. I'll be back as usual.

Great, but a little bumpy. My boyfriend and I came here for our NYE dinner, been twice before and both times were great!

We always get the chorizo & apples, as well as the whipped feta with pistachio. Can never go wrong with those two.

The Ricotta Gnudi says "mushroom broth" so I asked if it came with full mushrooms as we do not like the texture of them but like a mushroom broth. Server said there wasn't any - there was a PILE of mushrooms with the Gnudi. Was also very bland had to ask for salt and I never add salt to my food. Will not order again.

Wanted to order the lamb chops. It being $24 I wanted to know how many chops you get. So I asked... Server said half a rack - It came and there were only 2 chops... Yes they were amazing in a spicy bbq like sauce. But $24 seems absurd. Maybe if they up the portion I will order again.

I did not say anything as I am a server as well and mistakes happen. Just giving some honest foodie feedback!

SwizzleStyx. This is hands down one of the best restaurants in Winnipeg. Every bite is delicious! The scallops are the best, the steak tapas is awesome, tuna is to die for, best charcuterie boards ever, and even the desserts are delightful. The place is always packed and always fun. The servers are outstanding and you just can't help but have a great evening at Segovia. I do miss going there for lunch though, they stopped serving lunch a couple of years ago or so.

An instant favourite. I am not a picky eater, but I am a snobby one and little do I find 'phenomenal', most is passable and 'good' but never jaw droppingly delicious. Segovia's was an instant favourite with every single bite being better than the last. I would suggest this to any food snob and consider it likely the best quality restaurant I've ever attended. This is not easily attained.

Arriving before my friend, and being the only one in the dining room, the waiter (Taylor) and I spoke for a few minutes on the process of the restaurant and a couple food items and I could immediately tell he was very knowledgeable. Taylor knew all the answers to my culinary inquiries and not only answered well but also answered any follow up questions without having to be asked. He was an excellent server!

We started with the beef tartare ($15) and it was a delight; light and fresh with a hint of citrus on a crunchy but not hard piece of toast. If you have ever felt queasy about trying raw beef, this place does it right and I would suggest trying it here before anywhere else. The tuna crudo ($12) was nothing short of delicious. I adored the tiny peppers and the flavour was fantastic. The scallops on parsnips and fried capers ($6 each) were buttery and melted in my mouth and, despite my prior thinking that parsnips belong in the ground, not your mouth, I adored them and only stayed from licking the plate clean because I didn't want to be that rude. It was a real struggle.

Dessert was a flourless chocolate orange and walnut cake with condensed caramel on top and whipped greek yogurt on the side ($6). It was likely one of the better cakes I've ever eaten and I will be the first to tell anyone how little I enjoy chocolate. The combination of dark chocolate and orange, however, was divine.

I would recommend this to everyone and anyone. 10/10 though pricey.

What an incredible evening!. What a perfect way to end a day of Christmas shopping! Great service, really beautiful decor and elegant atmosphere, and some of the best food we've had in ages! I'm glad that we stopped by just shortly after 5:00 because there were a lot of hungry diners waiting and chatting shortly after we were seated. The Halloumi Special was so yummy with the last of the summer tomatoes, and the whipped feta was unbelievable...who knew feta could be whipped so light and smooth, and with the added honey and pistachios, it was heavenly! My husband had the octapus, and it's a good thing that I don't eat seafood because he flat out wasn't going to share it! It smelled incredible! The chocolate walnut cake was a little piece of heaven, trust me...had all seats near us not been full, I may have licked the plate!

WOW....LOVE IT!!. We finally got off our crazy sked to dine here and all we can really say is WOW...the flavours are intensely delicious, the service impeccable, the entire atmosphere awesome. We have travelled to many great cities and the flavours here takes you back to some of those wonderful places where the food leaves a lasting memory. The Medjool Date was the perfect end to an entirely delicious evening out. Thank you chefs and staff!! A definite frequent on anyone's dining list in Winnipeg to one of Canada's top restaurants!!

I love the concept of small dishes and this restaurant has it nailed. The food is always interesting and the atmosphere is always energetic. My only compliant is the heat inside the restaurant. If it is hot outside, it is even more so inside. Other than that, I am a big fan!
Joellefoster
Why did they change the menu????. I really liked Segovia's and the food is still good but its not the same since they changed the menu and took away all the things we liked. Until they change it again, I don't know if we will go back. We use to go almost every week!

It's Tapas so don't expect large portions or you don't get it. But if you want your food made with love and delicious tasting, then head here. It's off a side street in the Osbourne Village which in itself is a cool place to visit if you're at of town. I sat at the bar in front of the kitchen which was amazing because I saw everything they were making and that's how I made my choice. The bbq chicken/lentils/olives dish was fantastic. I also had the tuna and corn chip dish which was like a nacho and salsa dish tasting very fresh with pieces of fish and beans etc. The cod fritters were tasty and served as a good starter. I found the pork neck the most filling and most fun to eat as you could make an open face sandwich with the sides it came with. I wanted to try everything on the menu, but I was alone so I thought 4 was a good start to make me come back next time I'm in Peg city

Most dishes excellent. Arrived 630 saturday and was able to get in dining room right away for table of 4. server was super great and honest. sea bass with curry was great as were most dishes. i think we had 10 dishes and all yummy but the prawns (usually my favourite) was not great.

Good food, bad service. The food here is amazing! This was our first time, so we were a bit worried about the food and the food was fantastic! We ordered 2 dish per person and even though the food came out super late it was well worth it! But I have to say the service was very bad. Our server did not pay attention to us or didn't even answer our questions about the menu. We had to use google to figure out what the food actually was. He seemed very rude, and annoyed to be serving us.

Very Good!. We came to Segovia for the first time on Thursday. There was a wait, but not too long - about 30 minutes. We had never been to a tapas restaurant before, but were intrigued after reading the article in the Free Press last week. The server was very knowledgeable about the menu, and helped steer us in the right direction. We ordered the daily special, which included Pork Belly. It was quite delicious. We also ordered two other small plates, and dessert and coffee to follow. Everything was very good, and the unusual combinations of ingredients were like a party in our mouths. The atmosphere is comfortable, although the tables are quite close together. I would definitely come back, maybe in the summer when the patio is open.

Favorite restaurant!! Love taking friends that haven't been, always delicious creative food, changing menu and excellent service. Recently took friends that had never been and had a fantastic evening. Never rushed, always a great night out!

I Live to eat here.. My favorite place to eat in Winnipeg.

Innovative menu.

Servers always know their stuff.

Amazing food.

It does not get better then this for small plates in Winnipeg.

9/10

Amazing. Probably one of the best restaurants in the city. Nothing bad I can say about this place.
Islas Salvages
Anglo-Style Spanish Tapas. As a Spaniard, i was excited going in. The decor was rustic, the Estrella Damm hit the spot, and the staff was friendly. I had the classic tortilla de patata, and the patatas bravas. Both were tasty. However, when i explored some of the other offerings i couldn't help but notice that they were not authentic Spanish tapas (they had an Anglo twist) and that the atmosphere lacked one essential ingredient - Spanish staff! Overall, though, it's a good place to bring a group of friends and have a beer and some tapas before you head-off to the party.

Yummy but pricy.. After hearing from many people in my life that Segovia is the best place to eat in Winnipeg, I decided to finally take the plunge. It was good, but the price range is a bit high so I would only reserve this place for really special occasions.

First impressions were that the restaurant was surprisingly small, but the decor and setup made it very cozy!

The service was great, our servers were very attentive, informative, and were quick to give recommendations and answer our questions.

We ordered a bunch of dishes: steak tartare, calamari with aioli, steak with peppers and cheese, ham croquette, albacore tuna (with caviar and jalapenos), grilled bread and serrano ham, duck confit paella, and flourless chocolate torte with earl grey ice cream.

I think my top 3 favourites were the albacore tuna, torte (my favourite), and the steak tartare. My 3 least favourites were the paella (not really a paella to me tbh, lacking the crispy rice and other features making it a paella), grilled bread and ham, and calamari with aioli.

The desserts were in my opinion bigger than the savoury dishes, making it perfect to share, or as a mere dessert/cake stop if you want to go somewhere besides Baked Expectations in the village.

I would gladly go again, but only if I have the means to do so. :P
Poutine Connoiseur
Yum. The paella was my favorite!

Best in the city. Plan to spend a little more than you would. But expect a great experience and an even better food. The staff is very friendly and the place is gorgeous. the beautiful patio during the summertime is worth waiting for.

Top notch. Roasted duck paella, albacore tuna , elk tartare my favorite restaurant by far !

Salty- but great atmosphere. If you like salty foods, this is for you.
I went there during the weekday, still very busy. Speed of service was great, menu selection- interesting but food quality was very salty and everything seemed to taste the same. I would go back again, but for drinks only.

Ultimate tasting experience. I have travelled extensively and dined in numerous restaurants and must state that Segovia is by far the one which excites the palate. The ingredients highlight their creativity and presentation is an art form. Chorizo, Gala apples with sherry vinegar...white Anchovies on toast....Albacore tuna....and for dessert Medjool dates stuffed with Mascarpone, drizzled with Maple syrup and pistachios. And to spoil yourself have a Sherry. Life is meant to be enjoyed and even better with great food!

Outstanding. We eat out at least once a week, anywhere from greasy spoons to fancy schmancy. Segovia is one of the best dining experiences we have had, period. Just excellent.

Very good food, lovely atmosphere.. I've been here a few times. The staff is super friendly, and that's a huge plus. The restaurant itself is quite nice. It certainly is pricey, but it's worth to come every once in a while if you want to try out some unique flavours. Cool selection of tapas. Overall, nice food and decor.

Try it out, even if it's just once because you don't want to break the bank.

Outstanding food and service!. The food and service here is outstanding. It's a unique experience and tapas done right. Amazing flavours; we will never forget the lamb chops! :) Excellent wait staff. This is a great place for a nice dinner or special occasion, but they don't take reservations unfortunately so you'll be waiting for a table at prime times. It's worth the wait though, enjoy!

Outstanding. Wonderful service, food is always top notch. The prices have crept up over the years. but I never leave unhappy. Dont miss the potatoes and aoli.

Probably the best restaurant in the city for a date and dinner with friends. The tapas style works well for having a conversation over a few glasses of wine or drinks from their cocktail menu. I would suggest always trying the specials, as you never know when they might offer them again and always make us of fresh seasonal products. The staff are always great about making recommendations and helping groups make choices about the appropriate number of dishes to order. Food is always fantastic and an A+ time and time again.

Expensive but good.. I went with my sis. we had very spicy scallops. So hot i had to ask for milk, and I like spicy food. This was crazy hot, but it was still good. Had a meat and cheese board which was good too. A yummy spring salad with some goat cheese. It was good. not spectacular but I would at there again. Tasty stuff.
Kai
Top 3 for sure. Love the atmosphere of this place, warm and clean. Food is great, love the scallops, perhaps only topped by the ones at Chew. Always get the patatas bravas, and the cheese tray is just right.
Craig_W
Scallops were burnt - not seared.. I watched a few orders of seared scallops come out of the kitchen and thought I'd give them a try despite their looking overcooked. I mentioned this concern to the waiter when I placed my order but what I received was not just browned but nearly burnt black on one side. The texture was very tough and rubbery and one side was actually crunchy. I wasn't even able to cut the burnt side off. I also I received 3 scallops instead if the 4 per plate they were sending out at the time I placed the order, but I suppose this was a blessing since I couldn't eat them anyway.

Other dishes were the Patatas Bravas and the Jamón Ibérico de Bellota, both great as always though certainly not enough to fill me up without the scallops. Overall this is still a great restaurant, but this visit was a disappointment.

Never disappoints. Waitress remembered us from last time, which was 4 months ago. Great service. Amazing food. I recommend the serrano ham, chorizo and apples and the beef crudo is delicious!!

Amazing! Obviously expect to pay a pretty penny, but not totally unreasonable and absolutely worth it. Nice atmosphere, good service and fantastic food. This place has got it all!

Excellent!. We went to this place and stood in line on a Saturday waiting for it to open. Luckily the city is dead on the weekends in the summer.
I was in a group of four and we ordered about 11 dishes. All, but one was a hit with me. Fortunately, the one I didn't like is a seasonal dish so it won't likely appear again. The flavours are interesting and the quality of meat is there.

Here are my recommendations:

Albacore Tuna
Scallop
BBQ Pork neck
Beef crudo

Do yourself a favor and order dates as dessert - they're sooo good!!!

I hope you have as good of an experience as what we had.
Sommelier.foodie
Tasty. Recommended by the Concierge at my hotel I decided to stop in. The scallops were perhaps one of the best I have had. So good, I enjoyed 2 orders! Seared perfectly, and paired nicely with a Cava.

Was disappointed not to see an Albarino on the wine list.

Incredible food. I've been here twice now and each time it's been awesome. The food is so well made that I don't think you could go wrong with anything on the menu. Plus they always have really good specials...which the only bad thing is that if you love it, you might not be able to have it again! On the regular menu I love the ricotta gnocci and pork neck that's served cold with fresh green beans and a kicky sauce. It's well worth the price for a quality meal like this one.

Good time, great service, amazing food. I travel a lot for work and I have eaten in many amazing restaurants, but I have to say, Segovia is right up there in the top 5. This is culinary alchemy - every bite was a taste sensation, beautifully presented and the service was excellent. Our server was extremely professional, pleasant and helpful in instructing us on the number of dishes from the various sections of the menu that might satisfy 4 hungry adults. The beef crudo was amazingly tender and flavorful, the BBQ pork neck was succulent and the flavors surprisingly delicate and herby. Other favorite was the smoked char with lentils, tzaziki, pecans, and pickled onion (all in one dish--who knew??). We were stuffed after 6 shared dishes and majool dates with pecans and mascarpone for dessert. The wine our lovely server suggested was a deep, rich red - Vinaguarena and suited our selections perfectly. Kudos to our wonderful server (I don't remember her name but she is tall, blonde and stylish). My only regret is that I no longer live in Winnipeg so I can't visit as often as I like. Rest assured though, it will be a first stop on my bi-yearly visits!

I absolutely love this place. Came here with my boyfriend for our 1 year anniversary and were not disappointed. Had 5 different tapas, and the churro and dark chocolate dessert. My favourite thing was my Stockholm Syndrome drink! Definitely hoping to book this place for my next party!

Very good -not filling. We went here the other night for our 9th anniversary. The food was very good. The service was very good. The atmosphere was super cool. This is more of a different dining experience, lots of different tastes that you won’t get anywhere else. However just not enough, it’s just too expensive for what you get. Don’t go here if you expect to get full. After dinner we went to baked Expectations for desert, It’s just around the corner and the cake was awesome. I don’t think that we will be back.

Yam. Pricey, but super good.

Great food. Love this place, always packed, and that says a lot.

Always good. Amazing flavours and great variety. Fine dining food in a casual, comfortable environment. Great service. What else is there?

Some of the dishes can be a little salty but I've never had anything I'd send back. Between two people, you can order 3 tapas and a dessert and leave feeling satisfied - without a bloated feeling.

Most of the dishes have layers of flavours and good combinations of savoury, sweet, salty, and bitter. Proteins are always cooked just right. Excellent!

Visited this place with a dear friend. It was much fancier than we had expected and we felt under dressed. However our waiter was very lovely and made us feel really comfortable. Ww thought the appetizers werent going to fill us.. but after four plates we were stuffed and not the bad bloating kinda stuffed but a nice healthy fufilling stuffed. We loved it and you get what you pay for we had an awesome experience and hope everyone else does as well.

Delightful, Innovative and Relaxed Dinning. This is our go to dining spot. We eat here six or seven times a year and rarely have a disappointing bite. The food is earthy, comforting and seasonal. Though I do eat meat and love the fact that they have goat on the menu, Segovia is one of the very few vegetarian friendly (though not vegan) quality restaurants in the City. The seasonal menu is often surprising borrowing heavily from the traditions of Andalusia and North Africa. Some of the dishes are deceptively simple such as the delectable Salt Baked Carrots with Sheep Feta. Yet they also reflect a thoughtful and innovative approach to ingredients that distinguish Segovia from the other kitchens in town and remind us that not everything needs to be wrapped, topped, or infused with bacon or ham.

Fantastic. Great work, this cozy tapas restaurant hits all the marks, been only once and cant wait to return.

Amazing food and service. Reasonable prices, lots of menu choices. Highly recommended.

So Neat. When you go into the Corydon/Osborne area you expect things to be trendy, unique, and fun. This place is exactly that! When you go in, its a really warm environment, the staff are super friendly and really great about explaining their menu. The food is WOW. My fiancé didn't think little meals would make him full and that it would end up costing more. He was making jokes saying afterwards he was going to go to Unburger after to have a real meal. He shut up pretty quick after trying the food, and there was no Unburger afterwards. We are for sure going back!

Favorite place. Great food and service - only thing bad is they do not take reservations. Its like trying to get into Dorsia sometimes. :)

Chick place. I would never bring my husband here. It's not a "mans" restaurant, if they like to eat. Great for getting together for drinks and a bit of food with the ladies.
Dave
Lovely and Delicious. Segovia is a lovely restaurant in an old house. The tapas are amazing and the service is top notch. There were so many choices that we asked our server to bring us samples of whatever they thought. I can't remember the names of what we had, but we loved everything. We will be back.
Elizabeth
First time. Went to Segovia for the first time about a week ago. It was amazing. We had 5 different tapas, my favorite being the rabbit confit. We also ordered the cinnamon churros for desert which were also fantastic. The restaurant is really nice, food was spectacular, service was amazing. Not one complaint. Will definately go back.

Phenomenal!. Don't think, don't read, just go! Go now! So good, and an all around pleasureable experience.

Gourmet, and a treat! I had a fantastic time eating here. Although be warned, here you are paying for top quality taste not portions. Do not come here expecting to be stuffed when you leave! This is a tapas place, literally bite sized pieces meant to engage your palette between glasses of wine. We ordered the house made crackers with cheese and preserve. This was outstanding and I would highly recommend anyone to try this but make sure you eat the correct cheese with correct cracker and preserve. (placed beside each other) the tastes intermingle in a fine balance that is intended by the chef . We also tried the scallop cerviche which was some of the best I've had ever. The wine selection is huge. Try more then one kind of you have the cash.

First Class. Full Disclosure: Segovia is probably my favourite restaurant in Winnipeg. Visited Friday to check out the recently overhauled menu. Shared the Iberico charcuterie platter (chorizo, cured pork tenderloin and some kind of salumi-type sausage), a Spanish cheese plate (the star was a blue cheese served with a fig compote), Patatas Bravas, Pork shoulder served with spicy lentils, awesome spicy lamb chops with mint and yogurt, and a "fried chicken escabeche". All with a spicy Spanish Tempranillo to wash it down. Fantastic.

No, it wasn't cheap. Yes the portions are small dishes meant for sharing, not traditional entrees. Yes the bill for three good appetites was $200 (again - full disclosure: half of it was wine and cocktails). But I would do it again in a heartbeat, and I probably will if given the opportunity.

Absolutely my favourite restaurant in Winnipeg. The food is excellent and surprisingly reasonably priced. As a group of 4 we can easily get stuffed , a couple drinks each, and dessert for under $50 a person. Comparable to standard fare like Red Lobster or Tony Roma's in price with infinitely better service and real unique delicious food. Speaking of the service, I haven't had anything less than outstanding servers who are very attentive, knowledgeable and helpful.

The only criticism I'd offer is that the menu is slightly small compared to more traditional tapas restaurants I've visited in Europe and the Caribbean.
Jon
Not going back, service was fine but food was nothing special. Very small amount and nothing to even hold your taste. Over priced for the taste or quality of the food. Had to go to another restaurant after a $120.00 bill. I think that's sad.
Not a place to go if you want a full belly.
