Went there on May 16 2019 around 4:30 even though we never had a reservation,they said the tbl. was booked for 5:45,but that was fine for us. Had a bottle of wine (Alamos Malbeck) and a beer along with a small Mediterranean pizza. More than enough for 2 and it was excellent and no shortage of fresh toppings. On the way out and talked to another couple and they also mentioned it was their favorite. Top notch serving staff. Very pleasant experience i'm going back with my Mother next time.
Great pasta! Huge portions and good quality ingredients. Been here with family many times and have ordered for pick up as well. Everyone is happy with their food. I have liked everything I’ve tried.

There is a reason why this establishment has over 300 reviews, the food is so good. Come hungry leave full and you will have leftovers for a day or two. We have sampled many of the menu items and we have never been disappointed.
The calamari are meaty and cooked to a golden crisp. Not rubbery at all.
Both sausage appi's were tasty, succulent and were full of wonderful spices with a nice kick.
The Pane Fritto's were equally as delicious, but don't eat too many, as you will not have enough room for dinner.The entrees sampled over our numerous times at Santa Ana's have been.... Mediterranean Linguine, Napolitana Spicy Ravioli, Calabrese Al Forno and the Penne with spicy Italian sausage. All so good and hearty and textured with the right amount of sauces. You can not eat any of these dishes by yourself, they are huge.The large pizzas are Giantnormous. Beautifully wood fired or stone baked, all the toppings are generously applied with a multitude of choices.Unlike a lot of restaurants the wine menu is marked up heavily, but not here. House wines are $6'a a pour for 9oz and if you want a bottle they are only minimally higher than at the LC.
Book ahead of time as reservations are at a premium as one might imagine.Very pleasant staff with excellent service.
Fresh, high quality ingredients result in the best pizza in Winnipeg. Sure the price is higher that the competition, but the plentiful toppings make z pizza go a long way.
I'm not from Winnipeg and this is my favourite restaurant by far. Their food is fresh and everything is homemade, and the gluten free selection is delicious and amazing. They get their gluten free noodles are from a bakery downtown, who makes them from scratch there!
Ordered 2 pizzas to go. They were ready in half an hour. They were heavy, which means plenty of toppings. Everyone enjoyed both of them and said they were very good. Next time I order I will try the thin crust to see if it is better than the original crust.
The toppings are overly generous, and the portion is excellent. I cannot think of a better quality, greater tasting pizza in the city. I usually get pizza without tomato sauce, and olive oil, with veggies, once a week for my eat out night. Excellent pizza, all others are inferior in the city.
No wonder you need to make reservations here 3 months in advance! I can't even describe how amazing the food here is. Fantastic service, $5 a glass house wine, and you can try 2 different halves on one pizza! Every single pizza we've tried has been unbelievable. Love this place to pieces!
Best italian food in town. Amazing pasta and pizza, great flavor and generous portions, extensive wine list with minimal mark up, intimate atmosphere, and friendly staff. The minuscule amount of people who gave this place a negative review must be the people who are bitter at everything, and can't be happy with anything in life, what a sad life they live. I don't like to tell people their opinions are wrong, but if you gave this place a negative review, you are flat out wrong.

Best pasta place on the south side of Winnipeg. My family and I tried a few different pastas and they were all really good. We decided to take home some pizza as well after the meal for later to try and we were happy we did. Soooo full as the portions are huge.
Usually we order and pick up and are always happy. We always stick to the Tropicana. But the one time we chose to eat in I found our server very nice but took very long to take our order... Even glasses of water took a while. Pizza is always good as usual.. Wished the service matched!
Went here for a birthday and the food was amazing. The meatball appetizer was huge! 6 meatballs that were at least 3/4 cup of meat covered in sauce, only two were eaten to save room for the pizza. Other appetizers ordered were the calamari which were perfectly cooked, the shrimp with sundried tomatoes which were lightly battered and cooked to perfection as well. The only complaint with the appetizers, was the French onion soup, they found it to be to think, almost stew like.
Being a party of 6, there were 5 pizzas tried, the 4 Meat, Pacific, Mediterranean, and the Philadelphia all on the wood fired crusts, which were thin and crispy and throughly enjoyed. A Meat Lovers on the stone baked crust which was a fluffier, chewy crust that I preferred over the wood fired crust.
Service was attentive and an added touch, brought out a candle in a shot glass along with the birthday shots. Would definitely return here for take out or to eat in!
Delicious food!!! Full glass of house wine for $5 and both the red and white are quite good. My favourite pasta dish is the Mediterranean one. It's full of flavour from all the amazing ingredients in the dish. My go to pizza is the Tropicana. I love the zest of the hickory BBQ sauce with the pineapple and hint of jalapeño. I order from here at least once a month. It can take a while to get in for a reservation but I definitely recommend checking it out!
We had catering this weekend for 20 people from Santa Ana. I had to change my numbers and my order 2 times in the week leading up and even changed from pick up to delivery just an hour before my event. They were so accommodating!! Made great suggestions and were fantastic to deal with. The food was high quality and delicious (we had 2 pastas, 2 salads, 3 pizzas and a platter), the portions huge (everyone went home with extra) and everyone raved.
Hands down my favourite restaurant in the city. Food quality is always topnotch. Portions of pasta dishes are crazy big. Their prices for a bottle of wine can't be beat. Yes, it's difficult to get a reservation on a weekend, so I simply contact them and ask for the next available Saturday night and plan my social calendar around the resulting reservation. Remember, good things come to those who wait (and plan ahead)!
We've been coming here for about 3 years. We've never had an issue with service. The staff is amazing and the food is fabulous !! The wood fired pizza is the best I've had and the best part is he doesn't jack up the price of the wine. The house wine is wonderful and you can cork what's left and take it home !
Verry good pizza. I have tried the Porchetta, Pollo, Roman & Mediterranean they where all very good my favorite would have to be the Roman I love the Italian meats on it prosciutto & pancetta great combination of salty & savory. Best pizza I have had in Winnipeg.
I tried to get into this restaurant last Christmas but was told they had a three month wait on the weekends. Since my first visit in March I have returned there five times. The key to getting into this restaurant is book in advance, the food is so fabulous you will not be disappointed. I have also done takeout pizza five times, best restaurant I've ever been to.

Once you enter the space you wouldn't think you're in a strip mall but perhaps queen street in Toronto or soho in NYC.
We started with the sausage and a plate of crisp artichoke hearts. Amazing! Then had the Mediterranean pizza for the main.
Wicked crust amazing depth of flavors.

Popular Pizza Place. This is a popular pizza place that I found out about through my friend who is celiac. She enjoys the pizza and unlike other pizza restaurants, gluten free crust does not incur an extra fee, but only comes in one size. The price of the pizza is mid-range, but the quality of the toppings justify the price. So far I have tried the Sicilian and the hickory chicken combination pizzas for pick up, with Sicilian being my favorite. The pizza was cooked by wood fire and the crust ended up a little bit like a thick cracker, but that could also be the gluten free crust option. The restaurant is tiny and the place is buzzing with lots of staff working and patrons waiting for their pizza take out.
Recently came back and tried the Pollo and Mediterranean 11" pizzas. The Mediterranean pizza was loaded with toppings and was our favorite. We also ordered one regular crust pizza and one gluten free crust so that we could compare the difference. Their regular crust was much better and I would order that from now on. The gluten free crust was decent, thin and dense in comparison to the regular crust, and much more edible than other gluten free alternatives.
Great Pizza!. We had to book our seats in advance but the wait was worth it. We had the California pizza (chicken and red peppers are a tasty combo)! We found the serving staff friendly and provided great service. The evening overall was very enjoyable. There isn't a lot of seating, which gives a nice intimate atmosphere. The wine is also very reasonably priced. We highly recommend it and plan to return.

We enjoyed the Mediterranean Pizza very much. Top quality ingredients and crust. The eggplant was the stand-out star of this dish. Fans of Hawaiian pizza are going to love this! I would eat this again.
Wood fired deliciousness. We ordered the sicilian, and the pesto 11" pizzas. They were some of the best pizzas this city has to offer. Of course an 11" pizza is a fair amount of food to eat in one sitting, but it was so good I couldn't put it down. Next time I will try and control myself...

Really great food and value. Anything that has over 90% has to be worth a try.
Went the first time this week, chose an off night after reading about the long waits.
Got right in at 6:00 greeted by friendly staff, then after reviewing the menu decided to ask the waitress what she would recommend.
The Calamari was excellent! Personally not a big fan of sweet thai sauce with a bit of heat, but was ok, just a bit too eclectic to me. Calamari was very good.
Then settled on the 6:00 Greek salad (shared) vs the Santa Ana salad. Greek was perfect, not overdressed calamata olive with pit removed. Simply excellent.
As we were waiting for the various courses the people around us were getting served with various pasta's pizza etc.
All the pasta dishes looked simply fabulous. Healthy portions certainly good for sharing.
Since I had not had a wood fired pizza in a long time, wife and I decided to share the margarita pizza.
Sadly, and this was strictly my fault. it was disappointing. I am not a big fan of heavy crust pizza, and this one had a 9 to 1 breading to topping ratio.
However, food quality throughout was excellent.
Food prep also excellent.
Next time it is split a pasta and a stone pizza!
Two thumbs up, this will become a FAV.... just too bad it is on the other side of the city and a full 30 minute drive. But definitely worth the trip.
Incidentally, ample wine list at what are likely the most reasonable retail in town.

We Will Be Back!!. Santa Ana had been recommended to my fiancé and I by a group of friends. I was also told that reservations are a good idea because it is a small establishment. We made reservations for a Wednesday night, I am glad we did because the place was full.
We started off with a bottle of wine, which I can say came at a VERY reasonable price(15). We then had a small mixed greens salad which came with pecans, dried cranberry's and cheese. It was very light and refreshing
and was more than enough for the 2 of us. Next came our pizza, we ordered the stone pizza which was 15". It was great because we were able to split the pizza in half and choose our own side. I had the California pizza, he had the Buffalo Chicken. I can honestly say this is the BEST pizza I have ever eaten!!
This is a hidden gem in Winnipeg!!

This place gets it. Food comes to the table fast, portions are huge and my meals have always been incredible. Wine is affordably priced. Whenever it is my opportunity to pick a place to eat, this is my first and only choice. The shrimp is a must try as an appetizer!
Great food! Portions are almost too big but they tast great. Had ravioli and tried a slice of my brothers pizza and both were top notch!! If you can get a table you won't be disappointed.
Best in the city. Been going here for the last two years or so and have had an amazing meal every time. Little tough to get a table at times but this is only because the food and service is top tier.
Really Likes It. We went as a family of 5. It is not a big place. The prices were very reasonable and you can get a good bottle of wine for $20. The portions were a good size and the pizzas are pretty big. Two appetizers is more than enough for 5 people to share and a double salad was enough for all of us to share also. The food was all really good. Had a great very friendly waiter. We will go back again but you do need reservations.
This is good.. We had the 15" half California and half Sicilian. It was very good. Very unique flavors the artichoke and sausage was really good on the Sicilian. The chicken and spinach was tasty on the California. We will order from here again. Thank you.
Everything you've read is true. If I could, I would eat here all the time! The service was wonderful, the pasta and pizza superb, and the wine a BARGAIN! The owner's have a gold mine here and I pray nothing changes as we will be back soon!

Had wood fired pizza and my wife had wood fired manicotti. Both were excellent. Fast, friendly service too.
Excellent place!. The place is small and we did have a bit of a wait before dinner. The wait was worth it! We ordered a glass of wine. The house wine was priced at $5 a glass, and the portion was very generous.
We were going to split a salad and pizza. We were going to order the large salad but the waiter told us that the small would be plenty for us to share along with pizza. He was right. There was more than enough with the small.
We couldn't decide between two pizza's so he suggested half and half. We had the greek pizza and the Santa Ana. Both were very delicious - I couldn't tell you which was better!
Overall, a very nice place, great service, great food, and I will be back!

What a great p[lace to eat!. Well I was shocked... This place is walking distance from my house for 2.5 years and I've never seen it. What a loss! This is truly one of the BEST restaurants in Winnipeg! Four of us dined and every one really enjoyed their meals. The wood fired pizza and wood fired pastas are incredible. The prices are far lower than expected. My entree was $16.00 and I would easily pay $22 - 24 elsewhere, and the leftovers were an entire supper the next night. The calamari and the bruschetta were over the top great! NO ONE in that restaurant finished their meals. I spoke to Marik, the owner, and complimented him. He said 100% fresh ingredients are used, and told us in detail how they create their food. He said if you want anything thats not on the menu, he will create it for you if you order in advance. I saw a table of 10 women order a bunch of entrees and they served them family style so all could share. How many restaurants do that? House Red Wine is $18.00!!! Thats crazy cheap! Very small however so book a reservation! I am DEF GOING BACK!
Hidden gem in St. Vital. It's easy to miss this restaurant as you drive by. I was only lucky enough to hear about it from a co-worker. The pizza is gourmet, delicious and very reasonably priced. I had the Santa Ana with prosciutto, cauliflower and asparagus. Seems like a weird combination, but it is really interesting and tasty on your palate. We also shared the calamari and it was perfectly crispy with a spicy dipping sauce. One of the best features is the extensive wine menu!!! Great prices and generous pours from the server. Will definitely be back for a date night or with friends!!! Highly recommended -- one of my new favorite restaurants in the city.

Really good!. I was there last weekend and I really liked the intimate atmosphere. The servers were really nice and recommended items we actually liked. I recommend getting a few appetizers b/c they are so good and then sharing a pizza. Such a shame not being able to try everything.
Worth another visit. Two couples out for a fun bite and some wine. Loved the wine pricing and the bottle up what you don't drink touch. Service....a touch slow at first....but the place was packed, once they had a server assigned to us, things went smooth and the food was timely. If you love thin , oven baked pizza you'll enjoy this pizza...we did. Thy pasta dish was rich and lots of it ( ravioli with pesto ). Only slight critique is the chefs are a bit heavy on the salt. Generally a sign of smokers in the kitchen......they seem to need the salt to taste the food. we'll be back.
Won't find better in Rome. Serious! The service is great. They are friendly and accomodating. I've been there several times and all the food is great. But if you appreciate the artistry required to make a really simple thing like a margarita pizza a truly amazing thing, check this place out. It's now my favorite pizza ... on any continent. Oh! And the wine list? Stupid good prices!
Healthy but Action Packed With Tons of Flavors. When you get a Santa Ann Pizza choosing is the most difficuly because of all the fine combination of toppings.
This Restauranteur cares abut the food he is servings and you can see by the sauce, crust and fine toppings.
I will be never eat another of slice of Doninios, Pizza Hut or Cesars.
Santa Ana is where I would he happy to take my customer from across Canada amd the US when they come to Winnipeg. Don't ever lose you vision Sana Ana....it's good to see a Winnipeg Chest driving good fine cooking and teaching Manitoban--what good food is all about.

Wonderful wedding. Me and my fiancé were planning a small wedding (39 guests, including kids). On my sister-in-law's recommendation, we decided on Santa Ana Bistro. I phoned and booked a few months ahead of time and then met with Darek, the manager, two weeks before the big day. He made excellent suggestions for the menu and also for table placement and decorations. I left the lunch meeting confident that the evening would go smoothly.
They closed the restaurant to the public on that Tuesday night (with the exceptions of one or two pick ups). Darek and his wonderful staff did most of the decorating (candles and delivered flowers), rented the table linen for us, placed the chairs for the ceremony and then arranged the tables for the dinner. They provided all the music, even for my walk down the aisle, and selected delicious wines and appetizers. They served kid-friendly meals for the children and we had salad, ravioli, fire roasted veggies and potatoes and chicken parmesan. The food was absolutely excellent (and so was the wine!). None of our guests left hungry, or thirsty. Darek and his staff exceeded our expectations and truly made our night extra special. If you are looking for a less stressful, intimate and memorable, and classy yet very reasonable wedding, then I would absolutely recommend Santa Ana Bistro.

Great Pizza. I have been here twice now, both times in a group of 6. We decided to try it out since it was really close by for half of our group and we had heard about the great wine prices. It has a nice atmosphere and is a comfortable place to spend an evening. I loved our waitress, she was attentive without being in your face and we were all impressed when we arrived at 6:30 and she made a point of telling us that our table was ours for the evening. The serving sizes of the salads are great a single salad and a would fired pizza could easily be shared. The wine prices are unbelievable. Seriously where can you buy a bottle of wine for 15 bucks other than the liquor store in Winnipeg.. Everyone loved the wood fired pizzas, the crust is crispy and chewy with the odd black bit here and there. They have some nice combinations and I loved the pollo and the california, my husband really enjoyed his meat lovers and the greek and hickory chicken were both great according to my fellow diners. I will definately be back, which is unusual since I really like trying out new places, but it really is a neighborhood gem.
Lunch. I enjoyed lunch there in March. The caesar salad was fantastic with just the right amount of dressing, not too soggy, a generous sprinkling of parmesan and croutons. I orderd an individual Hickory Chicken pizza which I thoughly enjoyed. The toppings were generous and the flavour was terrific. The thin and crisp pizza crust was very tasty. We were offered a taste of the La Bomba sauce to dress our pizza it was a very rich and spicy addition, delicious!
St. Vital Surprise. My second visit to Santa Ana, this time for lunch. Again Great Portions and Great Prices. Make sure you take every chance you have to eat here!

Delicious Food, Cheap Wine. After hearing such good reviews about Santa Ana my bf and I made the trek across the city last night to go there. We arrived at 8pm and the restaurant looked completely full. I was a bit worried when the host asked if we had a reservation--which we did not. We were told to wait a couple minutes and that they would indeed have a table available for us. 5 minutes later we were seated. I found the dining room to be intimate and not overly noisy despite having all other tables full. The wine list is extensive and cheap--literally every table in the restaurant was drinking wine, and I can see why. $15 for a bottle of my absolute favorite Barefoot White Zinfindel! It sells for $10 at the LC so I was pleasantly surprised. There are not an overload of appies but my bf started off with the French Onion Soup. The broth was dark and rich with large pieces of onions hidden under the croutons and golden brown cheese. Very tasty. It was all served with a couple of breadsticks ( pizza crusts with italian seasoning sprinkled on?) which were perfect for dipping at first when the soup was still scorching hot. For dinner I had the 11" pizza for $12 called the Roman. It had large slices of roma tomatoes, prosciutto, and green olives. I also paid the $1.50 extra to add artichoke hearts. The pizza crust was light and fluffy, not super thin. I couldn't taste much of the sauce because it was loaded with cheese and a lot of toppings. While the pizza was delicious I will admit that the prominent flavor was the olives, they definitely overpowered the tomatoes and prosciutto. My bf had the ravioli for his main which I tried and it was very good. With most of the pastas you choose a sauce--he chose meat. I did not taste a lot of meat within the sauce, but you could physically see that it was there. The ravioli were large and filled with a meat mixture. To be honest I couldn't tell whether or not they were homemade, but I was assured by the server that the sauce was. The portion of the ravioli was very large and after having the soup to start, my bf could only manage to eat half the serving. Service was just okay in the long run. The meal was paced out (which was fine) and we were not rushed at all, but our water glasses did not get refilled. As we both enjoyed our meals and loved the low price on wine I would definitely come back.

Very generous portions & great value for wine. Small Italian pizzeria and bistro style eatery in a suburban stripmall that's a few blocks south of St. Vital Mall. This place is small as there's only about 12 tables so reservations are recommended. The owner use to operate Calabria (on Scurfield) but has since moved on to Santa Ana.
When you first walk in, you see the open kitchen and large wood fire oven, while on the side there's a wall of small grocery offerings - mostly pasta sauces, dry pastas and such. On the right is a dark room that's buzzing with diners. The menu is very affordable and the portions are very generous. First the pizzas can be wood-fired (11" for $12) or stone baked (15" for $22) for the various specialty pizzas on the menu. It's a small menu with just few selections in each area as there are about 5 pastas and 2 protein entrees (fish and chicken). The prices range from $14-$20. But if you like your vino like I do...this is the best place to drink up a storm. I have never seen such a low mark up on wine in the city! It's ridiculous that the wines are priced at $15 / $20 / $25 / $30 / $35 / $50 / $55. Yes, and that's for full bottles! We ordered a red that sells for about $18 at the wine store and paid $25 for it at the restaurant. The wines are very diverse so you will find one that you will like. And they also re-cork your unfinished bottle to take home.
We had the wood-fired California pizza which has chicken, mushrooms, spinach and roasted red peppers. The wood they use is oak though I can't say it came through in the pizza. Anyhow, the pizza was good not amazing. Not greasy, tasted pretty healthy, a little low on the chicken but otherwise good crust. But for $12, I think it was a good deal. The wood-fired salmon entree is pretty simple as it's olive oil, salt and pepper on 2 large portions of baked salmon and a very generous portion of linguine. For $20, the portion I received could easily serve two. The salmon was very simple done but not overcooked and the pasta was cooked el dente and made simply with olive oil, garlic, and parmesan. I am not sure if they ran out of veggies because the mixed veggie medley that was suppose to be included ended up being some red peppers sprinkled on the perimeter. It looked more like decorative than a veggie side; I would've preferred more veggies and less pasta. Good solid simple dish though nothing extraordinary.
The ravioli ($15) filled with beef and topped with your choice of sauce and then baked in the wood fired oven. The ravioli portion was massive once again so great deal if you love pasta. But the pasta was a little thick and the beef was pretty bland.
Service is great here as our server was a sweetheart; she was knowledgeable and had good suggestions. Food service was slightly slow but luckily the wine we were sipping on made us forget about the time!
Good place for those who like Italian food, drinking lots of wine, and very generous portions at a very reasonable price. Like I said, it's good familiar Italian food but don't expect to be blown away. But you will walk away full and satisfied though.
Wine menu was crazy good, and extremely reasonable. I had to take a double take on some of the prices. Food was tasty, and we found the portion sizes to be large. Overall enjoyed. Our server needed some food knowledge, and failed to ask some key questions. In the end we got the wrong pizza, but still left satisfied!
