This is a fairly priced steakhouse with good options. They cook their steak perfectly to order and service is friendly and knowledgeable. No complaints.
Super food. Steak done perfectly. Sauce augmented the taste and developed the balance. Calamari appetizers were wonderful. Wine list was great. Service by Kristy superb!
Real nice place, awesome food. Our steaks were perfect. Will definately return.
Expensive. But very delicious. We had basic iTunes. steak sandwich was brilliant. Their ferries are to die for! hamburger way over cooked. Small tenderloin was out of this world. pulled pork was fair. Overall very expensive meal... But very delicious!
Great spot for 2 or group party!. We've going to Onyx for years, my husband and I love their "Chicago" style steak and the brussel spouts are amazing! We love the VIP service we receive each and everytime. We recently hosted our Christmas party there and the food and service was exceptional, especially as it was for 35 people and the food was hot and selection perfect for all my picky eaters! We look forward to having it again there minus the entertainment:-)
Just wanted to let you know the food at onyx was fantastic and we had a terrific time, service was excellent. We will deffinatley be retuning for more great food.
Awesome food and the service rocks! Loved it so much we went back twice in one day!!!
First visit to Onyx, White Rock, BC. Went for an early lunch today with a friend. The restaurant is cozy, booth was private and food was delicious! Had a baked brie cheese with blueberries in pastry (very nice) and Caesar Salad topped with a deliciously aged, tender and flavourful sliced steak.Serve was great also. Looking forward to another visit! Serve
Prime Rib Sunday. Went to Onyx White Rock for their prime rib Sunday. I really enjoyed their prime rib which was cooked just the way I liked it (and it's slow roasted so it was even more tender) the service was also great. I would go back again just to try the various selections that they have that looked very good.
How would I like my steak? Chicago-style. What’s my favorite steak; it’s a Chicago Style Steak. A Chicago style steak refers to how the steak is cooked. Charred on the outside and to order on the inside, and this makes all the difference in the world. This is truly a taste of heaven. It goes without saying that not every restaurant is going to have the proper grill to make a Chicago Style Steak, and not every restaurant is going to have a chef that can pull of a Chicago Style Steak to perfection but Onyx can. Your knife will cut thru this steak like it is butter. The sides are great as well; try the creamed corn with bacon and the sautéed veggies. For an appetiser there is a lot to choose from but if you are feeling adventurous try the tempura bacon with maple chive sour cream. YUMMY. It goes without saying the quality of the food is superb, as well they have a great wine and cocktail list. Next time you feel like a steak I suggest Onyx, you won’t be sorry.
If you’re not looking for a steak dinner but just drinks and appies try Onyx's new lounge menu, it as something for everyone. It runs from 4- 6 unless the Canucks are playing, and then it goes all night. As well they have daily drinks specials.
Best Prime Rib in town, and must get the mushrooms too!
We were out for a special dinner and decided to try Onyx. We were greeted right away and shown to a cozy table for two. We started with a dozen oysters and a couple cocktails. Service was prompt and the drinks were good. My wife had the NY Strip with blue cheese butter, I had the special, sirloin Oscar. The temperatures on the steaks were spot on. Service was attentive, but not pretentious. A nice bottle is wine was recommended for dinner, but did not break the bank. A definite recommendation for White rock/South Surrey.
Two for one upscale appetizers and 4$ drink specials that really made this spot unbelievably worth it. On a night out when me and my girlfriend wanted to keep it affordable we heard about onyx and it was perfect! There are many pricey things to order as well, the steaks looked amazing. And our table by the big open windows was very nice :)
A hidden gem.. A friend of mine decided to celebrate his birthday with reservations at Onyx steakhouse yesterday. Being from the city, I was initially skeptical with the journey into the suburbs but I was BLOWN AWAY after my dining experience here. We arrived at the elegantly intimate restaurant (which features free parking steps away from the entrance) and had the door opened, along with a warm welcome from the manager. I only point this out because I've had to deal with incompetent 19 year old bimbos standing at the door with -not a clue- all too many times. Given that it was a very busy Saturday, it was a refreshing feat to be seated right away with no fuss. The interior of the restaurant is very boutique, like something you would expect from an upscale restaurant downtown Vancouver. It's not out of the ordinary for steak houses to hold a (for lack of better words) 'snooty' ambiance but I found the environment at Onyx to be laid back yet luxurious. We were promptly greeted by our lovely waitress Sharan. All 6 of us had wine on the table, as well as food and appetizers ordered within 4 minutes of being seated. For appetizers we ordered the steak tartare, crab cake and calamari. The steak tartare was to die for; the high quality tenderloin was rich, seasoned to perfection and cut to the optimal consistency. The crab cake and calamari were wonderful as well. I highly recommend any of the three. We finished every last bit of the first course and just had enough time to breathe before our entrees arrived. I had the signature cut porterhouse 24oz steak which was immaculately cooked to my liking (medium rare). Because all the steaks are dry aged and seasoned for 40 days the flavour was impeccable. Nowhere else in this city can you get a 40day aged steak. The closest rival would be Hy's with a 28day age - but at 10 dollars less, for a higher quality product I'd choose to dine at Onyx. I truly enjoyed my experience at Onyx white rock. The service was excellent, the food was divine and everyone left elated. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an all-round top-notch night out.
Best steakhouse in White Rock/S.Surrey. The best Steakhouse in the area. We had the 7oz Top Sirloin and the 12oz New York Striploin and they were perfect. Cooked as requested and tasted great. Good service and the place looks amazing. A lilttle lounge area up front for some drinks by the window and a nice bar. Great Scotch menu too. Cozy atmosphere. Can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu.
I could still taste the steak in my mouth the next day.... What a hidden gem in white rock!! Went their last year...
I was hoping to get my fillet Mignon but opt for the top sirloin steak. Wow, amazing. It was just as thick and juicy as the other fillet Mignon I had at other places...
we ordered 2-3 appetizers/side dishes (including onion rings, yam gratin, and appetizer baby back ribs)... their portions are big! The onion rings got us stuffed already!
The restaurant is not too big, cozy, but nice ambiance. You can see the kitchen from the outside, very clean and great service.
They did raise their prices a bit this year, but we are still thinking of going back for more for valentine's :)
Colleen's good friend Meryl organized a dinner for us at Onyx. Since I still haven't met her fiance Scott, it gave me another reason good reason to return to white rock. But let's face it, I've eaten here before and I wasn't disappointed then and I wasn't about to be disappointed tonight as well.
Onyx Steakhouse & Lounge's owner kindly invited to host Eating in Vancouver for dinner at his restaurant in White Rock. This is the original location of Onyx, where they dry age their steaks for 40 days. Here's what we ordered that night...
