Review Baton Rouge Grillhouse & Bar - Whitby

We went dined in a few weeks ago to celebrate my birthday. The service was really good - friendly and attentive. We ordered the Thai steak salad, lobster ravioli and the halloumi gnocchi. All were quite flavourful! I really enjoyed the Thai steak salad. I would definitely come back again!

This is our first time visiting this Bâton Rouge location and it was delicious! I got the ribs, and my boyfriend got the pork shank and holy 😍😍 everything was cooked to perfection! We also ordered the lobster stuffed mushrooms and they were really tasty! Not only was the food delicious, but the staff was very welcoming and friendly. The atmosphere was also very nice and relaxing and didn’t feel rushed or overwhelmed, as there’s lots of space between tables! Our food came out super quickly and hot. Our server Karl was great, he was very attentive and friendly. The owner also came by to say hi, and asked how the food was which was so nice, I appreciate that so much. We will definitely be coming back to say the least! Oh and the chocolate dome dessert was amazing! I had to add the picture below! Thanks again, it was delicious!!

Just went for desert and it was truly delightful. Staff was friendly and helpful in choosing the best desert and I was definitely pleased with my choice. Has the carrot cake and it was nice and moist, went well with my espresso martini.

Made a reservation on open table for my partners birthday, lovely first time experience. The hostess and server were really nice. Definitely try the ruby red drink, cheap and lovely. I like that they had delicious non alcoholic drinks. I loved the lobster poutine, order extra lobster for $9 to make it extra meaty. My partner had the BR trio, delicious. I’ll definitely revisit. Thank you for the birthday cake ❤️❤️❤️

Truly a professional and immaculate dining experience! I’d taken my partner here for her birthday during covid and they made her feel incredibly special. The food was delectable and there was a wide variety of choices. I got the $100 gift card special that’s offered during the Christmas time for this, and we got a lot of food out of it for a decent price. All of it was well presented and the interior was marvellous and comfortable. We would definitely visit again.

The chef was cooking. Every dish was deliciously good. Well balanced and favourful. Great portion size, even my children's meal size was a mouthful and more. Baton Rouge has always been my favorite restaurant. Clean and elegant space for dining. Potato soup my fav appetizer. 😋😋😋😋😋

Had a great dinner at Baton Rouge. I had the New York steak and my girlfriend had the Ribs and Tiger Shrimp. Both meals were amazing. The service was also really great. It was our first time at Baton Rouge and we plan on returning. We had a chance to chat with the General Manager, John Ford. My girlfriend and I believe John truly cares that his customers enjoy their meal and experience at Baton Rouge. Overall, the restaurant had a great vibe to it. One point is that it would be nice to see the staff without masks. As I can't wait to put this entire covid thing behind us. Thank you for the great meal.

I’ve never experienced a service this kind. My steak was not medium well, so I sent it back. This time my steak turned really chewy. The owner personally came to our table and apologized for the mishap and even removed my meal from the final bill. On top of that he gave us a free desert. The staff is very nice too.

had a fantastic meal at baton rouge tonight with my girl friend.. special thanks to our waiter Charlie..I have celiac and he checked and double checked to make sure what I was ordering was gluten free .. thumbs up to a great meal and best darn gluten free dessert Ive ever had at a restaurant...

I say it was only okay as my husband's burger was overcooked. He said it was still moist - not sawdust dry - but cooked beyond the medium-well he was expecting. I had ordered two sides - baked potato and veg. When it arrived I had the baked potato, but no veg. When I mentioned it the girl looked at me with a momentary 'stunned' look and then said "oh, they must be coming afterwards" - which they did... on a separate place - and there was plenty of room on my plate for that serving of veg. Not saying... just sayin... Topped off by an extremely overpriced cup of coffee. The ribs were perfect and my steak was exceptional.... just a wonky night there last night....

I was not impressed our server did the best she could as it was very busy. We were told they were out of the steak I had just ordered my steak was way over cooked and to top it off they burnt the last of the shrimp scewers we had ordered !!! Over all a bad experience !!! When we advised the server of how we felt she came back with our bill and told us she took off our appetizer . I ordered a $40 steak which was burnt and we did not get our shrimp as they burnt that too and they chalked that up to a free appetizer !!

Switched our normal anniversary dinner from The Keg -Oshawa to Baton Rouge Steakhouse & Bar - Whitby. A very nice establishment with good staff but the meal itself was extremely disappointing. For a place called Baton Rouge, I was expecting some flavor to the food. It was all bland. At the prices they charged, it should have been amazing. Plus they even had run out of normal menu items that my wife tried to order. My first, and last, time going there.

The bar staff were all very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive on a busy Saturday night and it's obvious that they all love what they do! The ribs and chicken combo was worth the drive from Toronto. Thanks BR Whitby, we'll definitely be baby-back!

I love Baton Rouge and this particular Whitby location! I often come here with my friends or my mom and we always enjoy it. The food is excellent, the ambience is warm, and the service is great! I was there last about two weeks ago for a friend's birthday. A big thank you to our lovely server Alicia and the restaurant manager Matthew for their kindness and professionalism :) Will be returning regularly!

We had the unfortunate experience of choosing this restaurant for a special night out with the kids. 3 of the 5 meals served were horribly over cooked, to the point that 2 of them were completely inedible, and one barely so. My NY Strip was ordered medium rare, and served well done and charred to the point of tasting like charcoal. The other top sirloin was less overcooked, but still a medium well- well, when it was ordered medium rare. The "Jewels of the Sea" were quite far from that. Apart from charging $40 for two shrimp, two scallops and a small lobster tail...the shrimp/scallop skewers were also charred and so utterly dry they were beyond eating. The highlight of the meal was the mushroom side, which was delicious (and was mostly what I ate!). The restaurant did comp the two steak dinners, but the manager never approached us. Overall, 3 of 5 meals were not eaten due to such poor quality, and our special night out was well...quite disappointing.

Went for dinner Saturday March 4 2017. Thank goodness we had reservations. They were packed! Service was great. Food left a lot to be desired....given the price. My date ordered prime rib, <br/>med rare. It arrived well done. My steak was med rare, but totally unseasoned. Steak was ruff and no flavour. The best part of the meal was the steamed veg, carrots and zucchini. My date ordered dessert which was Apple crumble, but got some pecan pie stuff (no apples!!!). Dessert was to die for ( I tried some), but wasn't Apple!!!<br/>If you want to enjoy the food, the keg is tastier. Summary is too pricey for food value

Seafood dish is very poor value for the money - won't return. We went last night for our anniversary - we always wanted to try this place. Next time we will go back to the Keg. The cutlery was sticky. I was VERY dissappointed with my meal - the Jewels of the Sea was SUCH A RIP OFF. It was quite pricy for a 6oz lobster tail, 2 shrimps and 2 scallops - $37. I couldn't believe it. Very poor value for the money. The food was not presented as described in the menu and OVERcooked. The server also forgot to serve the melted butter. The steak and prime rib that was ordered was decent. We found the server to be somewhat unattentive as well. We will not return.

This was by far the worst meal ever, crap service, crap food, food was returned by 2 out off 3 guests, returned microwaved!! To compensate they offered one free desert at a later date!! <br/>Contacted h/o , they never responded to 3 emails!!!!<br/>GO TO THE KEG!!

Worst meal ever. I've been to Baton Rouge in Toronto several times and enjoyed decent meals but this last dinner in Whitby was so bad I'll never go back. <br/>First, our cocktails - Raspberry Cosmopolitans - tasted pretty good but also tasted alcohol-free and came in a glass with ice and a straw. That's it. It'd be nice if they'd at least try to make it look like it's worth what they charge. <br/>Next, the appetizers - Cheddar Dip and Lobster Tenders. The dip was ok - it was a little runny but tasted good. The Lobster Tenders (from their feature menu) were just gross - two miniscule pieces of lobster completely lost in way too much soggy, tasteless batter. Yuck. The best part of that appetizer was the side of guacamole mixed with sweet corn relish. It was quite tasty but for $15 it was a complete rip off. <br/>Then, the entrees. My friend had pork ribs with garlic mashed potatoes. The potatoes were not edible - they tasted off somehow... can't really explain it... they just tasted really bad (I tried them too). My husband ordered beef ribs and shrimp. The shrimp was completely overcooked and chewy; the meal came with the wrong side (sweet potato fries instead of rice); and the ribs... they were a disgrace - two tiny ribs the size of my husband's baby finger. His entree was $35 and he didn't even like the coleslaw. I ordered the filet mignon, medium rare. The filet was gray on the outside and raw on the inside. Disgusting. I can't believe the chef would even think to serve it - not even to his dog. And, in keeping with the overall lack of flare, none of the entrees were presented nicely - not even a piece of parsley - no effort here at all. <br/>Finally, we ordered a piece of red velvet cake to share for dessert and a round of cappuccinos. The cake was good and the cappuccino was fine but they served it in mugs smaller than teacups so it was gone in a few mouthfuls - probably a good thing since it also got cold quickly. <br/>To make matters worse, despite the fact we (nicely) complained about a couple of things - really out of character for us to complain at all - the waitress (although she was friendly) did nothing to fix the situation. It was a $225+ meal and there was something wrong with almost everything they put on the table. There are far better places where you can get enjoy a great meal that's worth the money.

Ribs were good , my wife ordered a steak with Montreal steak spice and got just garlic then when they brought a replacement it was rare when she ordered medium. After complaining the second time they didn't offer any kind of discount or offer to cover desert or anything. Over priced for sure!

Never Again!. Cheap food with an expensive price tag! Want delicious, high quality food with the same price tag? Go to Chatterpauls or Hot Rocks!

Great Service. I wanted to review this Baton Rouge as well because I found the food to be really good (consistent with the Toronto Baton Rouge), and to also commend the wait staff on EXCELLENT service. There was a party of about 25 people and the serving staff were very polite, checking back just the right amount of times, and all of the meals came out at the same time (which is something that is hard to do with a large party)<br/><br/> I am biased with this place because I find their chicken fingers to be the best chicken fingers I have tasted anywhere in Ontario. What makes them so delicious to me is that they are not breaded but rather battered. Jack Astor's has set the bar for chicken fingers, but in my opinion these ones are better (although Jack Astor's is also really good).<br/>The portion size is huge especially if you order fries with it. They provide two dipping sauces on the plate, a honey dijon and a bbq. They do not have wing sauce or plum sauce, but the sauces they give you does a fine job.
