Review A Tavola Bistro - Whitby

We went there for lunch and LOVED the food. The seafood was fresh and the service was wonderful. A family owned restaurant with the love of cooking in mind. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. Worth the price we paid for. For sure we will return.Can’t recommend it high enough.

Just fantastic. A great food and dining experience! Had a private party here in the fall and the chef and his family were genuine, professional, friendly and talented. Everyone in our 40 Person party still talking about it months later! Highly recommend!

Very consistent food and service. Staff is very educated. The food is incredible!! Place is very romantic and clean. Best fine dining in whitby and the best thing is it is right down the street from my house. Love this place

All food is made inhouse. The fresh pasta and whole fish were delicious! And the lemon curd dessert was just like my Mom used to make, so I loved it!😋

A Tavola food is amazing! Enjoyed the salads, appetizers and mains. Did not have room for dessert. Team of servers are extremely nice and accommodating too. This is a must try and in our case a repeater!

Been really looking forward to going to this local restaurant ,A Tavola to the Table, for over two years now. It's our 32nd anniversary and we have a serious appetite for some exceptional food and fine ambiance coming our way. Everybody we know who have been love the place. Bon appetite baby! A Tavola Bistro is such a gem. Quaint and original, the menu is unique and the service so attentive. Totally catered to my gluten sensitivity without question. One of our favourites!

Quaint little restaurant specializing in Mediterranean cuisine. I must say, I was very impressed with the friendly service, cozy atmosphere and decor, and especially the warm and delicious flavors. The seafood platter was excellently seasoned, each item cooked perfectly. The Branzino was the same. Brought me back to my travels!

My boyfriend and I decided to come here for our anniversary dinner as we wanted to try a new restaurant we had never been to and had heard good things..we booked our reservation for 7:30 but upon arrival were not greeted at the door or seated until 8..we then sat at our table without drinks or being served for a full 20 minutes..our server came eventually and he was exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable (pretty much the only thing that stopped us from walking out at this point) but he informed us that at this restaurant the servers work as a "team" meaning the servers do not have assigned tables all the servers try to accomodate all the tables and to just flag anyone down if we needed something...from what we could tell all this caused was literal chaos in the restaurant as tables were being forgotton and nobody had one specific job...the restaurant was understaffed and the servers were being run off their feet because of the lack of organization a restaurant of this scale needs. The food was delicious and the server was professional and friendly but the attentiveness of the staff is severely lacking (to no fault of the servers- they were genuinely overwhelmed) management should be more proactive and apologies should be offered when people are kept waiting as long as they were. Very uncertain about returning to this restaurant although the food is great I don't feel its worth spending almost 2 hours waiting for or having to get up and go to the bar every time you need a water refill..which is a shame because everything else hits the mark.

Went for the first time for a birthday. Absolutely fantastic, the staff are friendly and attentive. The food is amazing we had ricotta gnocchi, chitarra, Moroccan fritters, beet salad, and a special b'day consideration. Special thanks to the sous chef(and Jen). A special place.

We went here tonight for my birthday and they did not disappoint! All five of us loved the food. A lot of thought and work has gone into every dish. Who needs to go into Toronto when we have this little (not so little now!) gem on our doorstep!

Possibly the best food this side of Toronto. Absolutely everything on the menu is a five star extravagance. The service is impeccable, the ambiance, although small is lovely. Simply put I can't say enough about this restaurant or the staff.

Amazing service from the staff, so knowledgeable and one of the su chefs came out to greet and thank all the guests near in the evening. Amazing food: organic, free-range, grass fed, freshly caught, home-made, you name it. Simply delicious from the apps to the main. We were there for a special family meal. The manager found out and brought out a nice birthday cake. First rate through and through. Love this place

Amazing food.....amazing service. Could not believe the variety of fresh ingredients and options on the menu. I could tell the chef has a passion for food and cooking and it really came through in the food. I had the chicken and I would've licked the plate if I could. My parents and I went to A Tavola Bistro to celebrate my Dad's birthday. We found the restaurant via Yelp and we were absolutely blown away by our experience. From the moment we walked in the door we felt welcomed. All three servers were friendly, knowledgeable and clearly passionate about food. We started with an appetizer special, a buratina cheese (a mozzarella with a luscious creamy centre) paired with prosciutto, a variety of pickled vegetables and house made breads. We also shared the braised calamari. Prior to this our only experience with calamari was to have it fried. This was heavenly, served in a rich, well-seasoned tomato based broth, the calamari itself had a pleasant chewiness and tasted of the sea. For our mains we opted for the specials. The halibut was perfectly seared and served on a bed of israeli couscous and a curried chickpea purée that we were tempted to lick off the plate. The whole roasted branzino was so tender and smokey. Prepared with lemon and thyme it let the delicate fish shine through. The saffron fettuccine with gulf shrimp and garlic olive oil was wonderful. It was clear the pasta was made in house. For dessert we shared the traditional Sicilian canoli. I loved the addition of chocolate, cinnamon and ground espresso beans in the filling. We will absolutely return to A Tavola, again and again!

The food was awesome especially the Red snapper. But we were disappointed with the dessert. Overall great experience. Totally recommend it.

I was asked to leave this restaurant today because I left a poor review. Although the service is good the food is not as good as it was when it first opened. The bread was freshly baked and not frozen, the desserts were also made daily and now they are refrigerated. When you send something back because it wasn't to your liking the chef takes it personal.This is constructive feedback the owner Vito has a hard time accepting. I wish you luck with professional growth!

Foodies - expect great things from this restaurant. It is one worth discovering! The creations from the open kitchen, are testament to a creative team, led by the talented Chef Vito. Using the freshest, locally sourced ingredients I could taste the quality in every tasty bite! The service is impeccable, and the bistro's ambiance is a cozy, casual elegance. This place is highly recommended in my books, for my fellow foodies out there, or anyone looking for more than an ordinary place to dine. Can't wait to go back!

One of the best restaurants my husband and I have been to within the Durham Region. I couldn't stop eating. The staff is amazing and the food....there are no words to describe how fantastic it is. Definately going back.

Loved the food, loved the service! Unfortunately, way out of my neighbourhood otherwise I’d be a regular! Would like to try more if their dishes so I’ll definitely go again! The dessert pic I posted on FB (which I rarely do) got rave reviews....
